This week we are joined once again by the Candy Man himself. We hit a little bit on copper kettle chocolates before taking a deep dive into Ryan's half Ironman. Afterwards, we learn that most of what we think are vegetables are in fact not vegetables and then we draft our favorite Disney Channel Original Movies. You don't want to miss this one!

Introduction and Guest Welcome

00:00:12
Speaker
Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight Gonna grab some afternoon delight My motto's always been when it's right
00:00:24
Speaker
Good afternoon, Delights. I'm your host, Matt Lattimer, just trying to bring you a smile on this Wednesday, but I couldn't do that alone. So I had to bring on a very special guest. You're probably wondering who will let me ask you. Who can take the sunrise and sprinkle it would do? The Candyman can. That is right, ladies and gentlemen, he's back.

Copper Kettle Chocolate Factory Insights

00:00:46
Speaker
Ryan Kasuji. How are you doing today, Cos?
00:00:49
Speaker
Oh, it's so good to be back. Any excuse to come back and talk to you for a couple minutes is a great time for me. We love having you on. We love getting the deep sneak peeks look into Copper Kettle. You know, we always got to talk about the chocolate factory on every episode because it's just that special. My one bugaboo here with Copper Kettle right now is you're bringing in all these guests to get back scene looks and you're not letting any of them actually help you make chocolate. And I want to know what's up with that.
00:01:17
Speaker
It's just I I get into the zone where I need you know, I need to make everything and Kimberly my cousin She was on the podcast. I don't know last or two episodes ago or so. She was there during Valentine's Day So I need I'm full focus. I need to make everything correct. She comes down in the summer I'll let her I'll work her in and really help her out and maybe someday she'll be an expert like me and
00:01:45
Speaker
I want to start seeing it because then that gives me hope for the next time that I come down to be able to get into the chocolate shop and really start working some magic. Hey, if you come down, you have full rain on my, on my equipment. Keep everything clean. We're good. We'll work together. Look, the people have been calling for two special products. They want a product that's called the good day and it's, you know, it's a chocolate. And when the guests ask, what's a good day? And you say, you know, it's a good day to have a good day.
00:02:10
Speaker
day, an afternoon delights special. And then they also want another one that's called one bite aways. So when they, why is it called one bite away? Because happiness is one bite away. That's what copper Kettle's about. We got to get these into production. You know, we got to have our quality meeting with all of our regional heads, the product development team. We got to figure out what we're going to do here for these products.
00:02:30
Speaker
You know, I've been experimenting. I've heard you talk about the marshmallow constantly. Maybe one of my marshmallow bars could be a good, a good day or a one by the way. And, uh, you know, I can make a marshmallow just for that. I think we could dip into the special marshmallows in a big way. I've seen some stuff online by this Australian dude and I'm like, there's no way his marshmallow is as good as Ryan's.

Ryan's Ironman Experience

00:02:53
Speaker
And he makes, you know, like key lime pie, marshmallow and orange dream sickle and all these other things. Like how you made the cookies and cream one.
00:03:00
Speaker
think we could go down this branch. Yeah, I see these marshmallows. The problem is they don't make 40 other products at the same time. So yeah, I like the marshmallows. The marshmallows are cool. They don't last long, and we don't only sell marshmallows. So I have to be very specific with what I want to do. So one, by the way, is maybe they'll come in.
00:03:23
Speaker
Maybe just win the league and that could be your bar. Well look, Travis is going to be moving down there at some point and I feel like he's incapable of doing a real job. You could bring him in and let him be the marshmallow man and he could handle the marshmallows for you in the back room away from the public in a dark corner. You know what? When he moved to Ohio from Hawaii, he looked like the marshmallow man.
00:03:49
Speaker
Stay Puff Marshmallow, man. Last time you were on, we talked about you training for your Iron Man and you actually just finished it. So tell us what was the most challenging part of that run? I guess the whole thing for you, what'd you have to overcome? Well, I always have to start with is a half Iron Man, some half of a person.
00:04:06
Speaker
It's a 70.3. It was a perfect weather, perfect ride, perfect swim, perfect run. I had some issues with my bike. I was just trying to beat Jacob Lawrence in his 547 hour finish. I was not able to make that happen. I ended up at 606.
00:04:29
Speaker
I had some hip issues on the ride. I can't blame anything other than myself for not sitting on the bike long enough in training. I mean I will complain that Jacob's swim is a down river so that's not fair. But 606 didn't do my goal of
00:04:46
Speaker
the the
00:05:10
Speaker
I don't know what it is next year, but I'll be back next year at Galveston to try to be any other one of my friends that does a half Ironman. Here's my issue with the hip thing that you ran into. And I got some saltiness with some core members of the league. We should be getting perfect regimens drawn up by Chris Latimer and an excellent mobility plan from Matt Martin. These issues shouldn't be happening. We should be able to mitigate these problems. I feel like we need these guys to step up and help you with your training.
00:05:39
Speaker
Yeah, I've contacted them. It was such a strange. Yeah, I turned around on mile 28. I stood up on a bike and then it was just pure pain from my, uh, nether regions to my hips. That was indescribable. So I was just screaming and finishing another 28 miles. So I don't, I don't know what it was. It just, it's one of those things where it just, it just was bad. So we'll figure it out.
00:06:06
Speaker
yeah that does not sound like a good time when you're going through the iron man are you doing it like raw no no headphones no music no anything you're just out there you in the world racing against people or what helps you get through these you know long intense races
00:06:23
Speaker
It starts with a swim obviously. You jump in the water. Past two years usually I would be sitting in my wetsuit kind of having a little bit of a panic attack and dry heaving. This year I did not. I was comfortable. I swam a lot before. I jump in the water and then everything starts. That's when you get people kicking you in the head and you're trying to get around people. You're annoyed with people because you can't get around them. I made my turns on the
00:06:51
Speaker
the swim and then it just it really just comes down to how fast can you get out of transition if you get out transition pretty fast you're doing well you can save minutes which you cannot save on a bike or run if you just get into transition get on your bike get going no matter how
00:07:10
Speaker
that that
00:07:31
Speaker
is going on through my head is this is going to be happening for three hours so just blank out and go for three hours make it to the turn turn around and then everything starts hurting at that point at that point you start thinking about five miles all right i'll make it five miles and then i'll complain to myself
00:07:53
Speaker
and then i'll do another five miles and i'll complain to myself and then you get to the most beautiful point in the world is when you're getting off the bike because the bike is the worst part of any race everyone will say the bike will be the best part is the worst part and you get off the bike and then you feel better for five seconds and then you start running and you realize this is the worst part is the run and that's
00:08:20
Speaker
13 miles you feel terrible for about eight miles and then you feel okay and then you can chase people and that feels good you can chase people you can go to the next tent you can have a coke you can have a little red bull and by the end of the race you forget how horrible was and then you sign up for the next one
00:08:39
Speaker
Better you than me. I'm not going to put in the training to do something that terrible. I would be more likely to train for like an all you can eat hot dog contest than I would an Iron Man. So kudos to you. Thank you. Thank you, sir. It's impressive, man. I feel like if you were as tall as Jacob, you'd be able to beat his time. You know, it's crazy to me that I'm competing with Jacob Lawrence. He's a freak. I mean, he's an incredible athlete. I'd all belong competing with Jacob.
00:09:05
Speaker
So I'm just happy for anyone to keep competing. Matt Morton, he's going to keep going. He's going to do better. I'm going to be competing with him soon. He had a rough race in Ohio. I just hope that he keeps trying. Now we just got to get Chris into an Ironman, see what he can do. Chris, he could push some, push some watts on that bike. I think he's, he's just too scared of the swim. I think he can do it. I think he'd be great at it.

Afternoon Delights' Fandom and Book Club

00:09:31
Speaker
We'll see now he might have a little bit more time now that he's done with nursing school. The thing with Chris is his psyche is strong. That man does not care. He'll push himself to the brink of death to beat people. Me, Chris, and Marty always talk about seeing the darkness and all of us have walked ourselves into the darkness and I know for sure Chris Latimer would be great at an Iron Man. So I hope he does it one day.
00:09:54
Speaker
All right, Ryan, I have to say you're probably the most loyal listener to all of afternoon delights. I think that you listen to every episode as soon as they come out. You're always the first one to like it in the group chat, so we appreciate that. Whose episode have you liked the most so far to this point?
00:10:10
Speaker
Who episode is I like the most that that's a I mean, I guess I have to go with wise podcasts with Harry Potter I mean, it was great. I learned so much about Harry Potter even though I had to watch it here and there Constantly really loved Danny's podcast cuz Danny he's like my best friend that I don't know that much. I
00:10:32
Speaker
That's how I feel about Danny. I think I've played video games with them here and there and then he came on two of our trips and he was such a trooper. So I enjoy every anytime I get to hear him talk. Funny story about Danny's episode how I said because he loved the garden salsa sun chips that he would be my wife's favorite guest. She's listening to the podcast doing some dishes and she is just yells. I don't know. And she's like,
00:10:57
Speaker
yes my favorite guest just yelled it and then like 10 seconds later you get to the part where i say that he just became my wife's favorite and then she looks at me and goes you were right dude i do love those trips too so i mean danny just i mean these uh people these are he's a great man i i hope he he's not coming the next trip i hope he comes back and you know next year did that break your heart when you heard it on the pod i think
00:11:23
Speaker
figure probably he wasn't gonna make it to Glacier but you know he always hold out hope but I know this guy tries he definitely tries to come he's he's not a he's not whipping out he wants to come and we do a rough trip so I can't wait to see him again we'll get him there next year have you been reading any of the books from the afternoon delights book club
00:11:42
Speaker
Oh, I mean, a lot of the books are, you know, it's just my friends that we already have a book club that we tell each other about these books. So, yeah, I've read most of them and not the self-help ones. I have read most of the sci-fi and fantasy books. Have you read Demon Copperhead yet? No, I haven't. OK, that's a very good one. I'm working my way through them. I'm halfway through Theft of Swords. Yeah, this has been a rough year for me, actually, with reading. I don't know what's going on. I'm just not reading very much this year. That's because you were training too much.
00:12:11
Speaker
I keep telling myself I'm gonna start reading more. I feel like Lightbringer really sucked the energy out of people. After Lightbringer, I kind of like shut down, but I'll get back to it. I can't wait for the place at the table. I don't know what you're gonna throw up. Let's do it. You wanna do some afternoon delights place at the table? Yes, I do.
00:12:28
Speaker
Okay. I designed this one just for you because I feel like it's a topic that I'm going to get some good reactions out of you. So we're going to start off and this is, you know, is it a fruit or a vegetable? I want you to tell me what you think if these are fruits or vegetables.

Food Quiz and Learnings

00:12:42
Speaker
I'm really good at this. Okay. So first one up, the apple fruit. Okay. You got it. All right. Next up, broccoli fruit. No, broccoli is not a fruit.
00:12:51
Speaker
I thought those are seeds on the top. No. Broccoli is a vegetable and it's actually considered a flower. Okay. We're going to start getting a little bit harder here. Peppers and chilies. All of peppers and chilies? Peppers and chilies. All right, fruit. They are indeed a fruit. Yes. They're grown on flower. They contain seeds. All right. What about beans? It's a seed. So what are beans? Vegetables.
00:13:16
Speaker
No! Hahaha! You're so cute! It is a seed! The bean is a fruit! It's a part of the lagoon family. It's a seed from a pod. Makes it botanically a fruit. Ryan, it was right there for you. Beans! Beans! The musical fruit! The more you eat, the more you toot! The more you toot, the better you feel! Beans! Beans for every meal! Oh jeez, okay.
00:13:40
Speaker
This is maybe if you learn the difference in some of these, you can start eating more vegetables. That'll give you some time on these Iron Mans. Okay. Next up, the coconut fruit. It's a nut. It's a coconut is a fruit, but it is actually not technically a nut. Oh, it is not a nut. It is a seed. It's botanically a droop. It's a part of fruit family. It is called a coconut, but it is not a nut. Okay.
00:14:02
Speaker
the eggplant eggplant that's a vegetable no the eggplant is indeed a fruit often mistaken for and prepared as a vegetable but in fact the eggplant is a berry no it's not yes it is the eggplant is a berry is a disgusting berry what about quinoa quinoa i don't know man that's got i mean a vegetable
00:14:30
Speaker
Yes, you are correct. The quinoa, while considered and recognized as a grain by the whole grain council in a pseudo cereal, is botanically speaking, a seed harvested from a herbaceous plant, aka a vegetable. What about olives? Olives. They have
00:14:52
Speaker
a pit so we have to think about that is a fruit you are right olives are indeed a fruit they look like grapes and they are both fruits but they're different fruits the grape is actually a berry but olives are groups okay they are in the same family as peaches plums and mangoes and uh the closest relative to an olive is actually the cherry fun fact it took me
00:15:16
Speaker
30 years to enjoy an olive. I've always loved black olives, not the biggest fan of green olives. I love green olives, more than black olives. I feel like you're wrong on this one, but I do love black olives, you like stuff them with some blue cheese. You gotta take out the red part though, the red part is.
00:15:33
Speaker
delicious okay what about the pumpkin fruit so many seeds the pumpkin is indeed a fruit it's a type of squash grown on a vine it has seeds it is prepared as a vegetable but it is a fruit have you ever did a little pumpkin seeds in the oven a little salt and stuff every halloween we do pumpkin seeds in the oven
00:15:54
Speaker
It's almost disgusting, but I like it. It kind of tastes terrible, but I like it. Next on the list, we have coffee beans. Coffee beans. That's definitely a fruit. Yes. Coffee beans are indeed a fruit. They come from a seed and they're actually coffee cherry. And each coffee cherry contains two pale seeds enclosed in pulp and skin. Then they're harvested, dried and roasted. And they are incorrectly, but more commonly known as coffee beans.
00:16:21
Speaker
even though coffee beans are not actually beans. I mean I kind of knew that considering the you know the wine will work I'm in so are you gonna ask about chocolate? Yeah you can share that one that is that isn't on my list but I did find it in my research. I cannot believe that was not your first question it's a fruit. It is a fruit.
00:16:41
Speaker
The chocolate is a root. Next up, we have rhubarb. Rhubarb. No one's ever eaten rhubarb, so a vegetable. I'm going to say technically you may be correct, but legally you are incorrect because botanically a rhubarb is a vegetable. But in 1947, a US Customs Court case, an attorney
00:17:05
Speaker
successfully argued that because rhubarb is typically eaten for breakfast and dessert, not as a side dish with poultry, it should be classified as a fruit. What does any of that have to do with vegetable or fruit? He's just making things up. So what it was, his client had ulterior motives. They were trying to avoid a 50% duty on vegetables in favor of a 35% duty on fruits. They wanted to pay less money for their rhubarb. This is the same thing that happens in Texas.
00:17:35
Speaker
You can't buy a car on Sunday because one guy wanted to go to church on Sunday so no one can have their dealerships open on Sunday and they make a whole law that doesn't allow you to go to the car dealership on Sundays when you're off. It's the same thing with the rhubarb.
00:17:51
Speaker
It is the same thing as a rhubarb. Legally in a court case, it was argued that rhubarb is a fruit. Wow. Unbelievable. Alright, you ready for this last one? It's a toughie. Alright. Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries. Those are fruits. They are indeed fruits. What type of fruit are they? They are a seeded, outdoorsy fruit.
00:18:11
Speaker
Would you classify them as a berry? No I would not because the seeds are on the outside and a berry has the seeds on the inside. So yeah they are derived from a single flower with more than one ovary making them an aggregate fruit but true berries are simple fruits stemming from one flower with one ovary and typically they have seeds. Do you want to know another fruit that is a actual berry? Cherry.
00:18:36
Speaker
No, not the cherry. The cherry's a stone fruit. The banana. A banana is a berry. Mmm, right. Because the seed is somewhere, right? Bananas do have seeds. Where? If you slice it in half and you look, they're really, really tiny. Oh, disgusting. All right, thank you for that. Do you feel like you eat a lot less vegetables now? Oh, I almost eat zero vegetables and zero fruit.
00:19:00
Speaker
highly unhealthy. Well, maybe if you ate a little bit better, you can make up that time. Yeah, no, I take supplements, so that works. Some other wacky stuff is most nuts are, you know, they're actually classified as fruits. Cashews, almonds, pistachios, they're not actually nuts. I eat a lot of those, so I eat a lot of fruits. So you are healthy, you're getting healthier already.

Disney Channel Movie Draft

00:19:20
Speaker
are you ready to get into the meat of this draft the meat of this episode are you excited yes ladies and gentlemen Ryan requested this topic specifically months ago months ago he sent me he said save this for me don't give it to anybody else so he's here to bring the passion we are going to draft the best
00:19:40
Speaker
Disney Channel original movies, the ones that we most loved as kids and how we felt about them growing up. Ryan, do you want to do the honors and kick us off? Yes. All right. Let me know what is the best Disney Channel original movie? Oh, it's Johnny Tsunami. It's gotta be. Oh, that is one of the two. That is an acceptable answer.
00:20:07
Speaker
Yes, go big or go home. Johnny Kapahala. Johnny Tsunami, you know, I have Travis coming in town from Hawaii, Hawaii. He comes into town. He comes hanging out with me. We're living in the same house. He's basically my brother. Comes in. He's a surfer boy. And then I introduce him to Johnny Tsunami. And then we go and
00:20:31
Speaker
we don't even snowboard for the next four years because we're children we know we're urchins we're not skies we know we're not skies and he comes into town and we've been building this for years and now we are complete urchins together me my brother travis
00:20:49
Speaker
all urchins because it's Johnny tsunami that is a great movie i love it you get the the villain going up against it when you're a kid growing up you just know Hawaii is this exotic place and you know that anybody from Hawaii now knowing other than Travis Nardi is just like the coolest person on the planet right you know you can walk down the beach you'll find whoever you're looking for no matter what if you just walk down the beach with your friend
00:21:15
Speaker
You'll find him. Did you see Johnny tsunami to Johnny Coppa holla back on? No, absolutely. No, I don't even know that exists. Oh, yeah, you should go and watch it. I will not watch the sequel. Well, killing me smalls. All right. Well, you know, Ryan, I'm pretty sad that you got Johnny tsunami, but you did not get the true best Disney Channel original movie. You got the second best on my list. Everybody knows growing up in the 90s is when X Games started to get big.
00:21:42
Speaker
and you were only cool if you were rocking rollerblades or you were on a skateboard. And everybody knows that I am Team Poppinsuds. I am taking Brink as the 1010 best Disney Channel original movie of all time.
00:21:59
Speaker
Hey, I'm team ex-blades all day. You are an ex-blades man. And you're also, you're not an urchin. You're a total sky. You grew up on the other side of sawmill as one of the rich kids. So if you're not an urchin, you're a team ex-blades, team pup and suds all the way. It had the coolest lingo, the coolest people. Every single person that watched Brink the next day was getting roller blades and playing street hockey. And if I watched it right now, I'd probably try and go out again and fall on my face, but it would be okay because I'm team pup and suds.
00:22:26
Speaker
I have a little story about rank. I love rank and my brother was a skateboarder and I was you know five years younger and I did a silly thing. I decided I'm gonna be a blader and I started blading and then my brother told me you know you have to be in shape to you know to be a blader so I started running around Chapman during recess and then
00:22:51
Speaker
the fifth
00:23:16
Speaker
Good. Your team explodes, man. If I knew that grown up, I totally would have put worms in a sandwich and watched you eat it. Just like Brink. I got what it deserved. Now, my second pick. You open this up. Unfortunately, I know I'm going to lose some other great ones, but I have to be true to myself. And I'm taking arguably the best Halloween movie of all time.
00:23:35
Speaker
halloween town baby you know i'm not letting it pass up it is for sure top three give it to me all the whole series is a banger except for the fourth one where they replace marney and it stands above and beyond the first one stands above and beyond all the other ones it's
00:23:50
Speaker
not just a top tier Disney movie, it's a top tier Halloween movie. Like I said, you get Marnie coming in, learning to be a witch. She's taking on the bad thing. You know, you got the taxi driver that is a skeleton. Then you come in, you get Halloween Town 2, Calabar's Revenge, you know, the Grey Curse, the Grey Spell, Trappa Apart. That's the movie that makes you feel like you could be a witch or a wizard when you're a kid. And I watch it every Halloween still to this day as an almost 30 year old man. You know what? I love
00:24:20
Speaker
the Halloween aesthetic. I love Halloween so much. You guys were talking about Cedar Point last week. I love Halloween. The next thing on my list was Halloween Town. I love Halloween Town. I still watch it to this day. Nowadays, I have Hubie's Halloween. I love Hubie's Halloween, so I respect that pic and I love it. Give me your second pic Best Disney Channel movie. I already know what you're picking.
00:24:47
Speaker
I don't think you do. I'm looking at my list right now. I think I don't think you do, dude. I'm gonna go down to the luck of the Irish. That's what it was. I have that. That's my number four pick two. We got the same top four. The luck of the Irish. I mean, what a good time. You have terrible accents. We have cute boys. We have everything like
00:25:10
Speaker
You know, it goes into a great Disney, Disney general movie. It is growing up in Dublin, Ohio. You know, you're ingrained to love everything Irish. So we love luck of the Irish. We love basketball. It's got a lot of funny stuff in it. You get a, you know, watch all the leprechauns and he starts to shrink. And, uh, you know, Kyle is probably just the coolest guy on the planet before he gets his lucky penny stolen. His hair gets a little redder.
00:25:35
Speaker
Any of it is redder. He's got the look he's got the spikes. It's like instead of frosted tips He's got red tips and his mom goes. I'm a leprechaun. What was that again? I'm a leprechaun. There you go Yeah, his grandpa owns a potato chip factory
00:25:50
Speaker
Is it racist? I don't know. It's truly wild, though. Yeah, it's a great pick. Give me number three. Honestly, this is not on my list because I forgot to put it down, but it has to be motocrossed. It's basically She's the Man, but with motorcycles, with dirt bikes. Have you seen She's the Man? I have seen She's the Man with the man of bikes. Is that an amazing movie? It is an amazing movie. I agree. Motocross is great. How good would it be with dirt bikes? Be pretty fantastic. Yes, that's motocrossed.
00:26:20
Speaker
Have you watched Motocross 2? No! I don't watch sequels! I was in college. Let's get out. That shouldn't have stopped you.
00:26:29
Speaker
So motocross, good pick, thank you. It fits well in today's culture also. Yeah, obviously. Women in power, men being as good as men in sports, it resonates more today. On a motorcycle in the pitch, the pitch, right, soccer or football or whatever, is it the pitch? I mean, yeah, sometimes they'll call soccer field the pitch. The pitch, there you go. That's a good one. Have you ever ridden a dirt bike? Did that make you ride a dirt bike?
00:26:54
Speaker
I rode Shane Hasey's tour bike one time and I did what I was not supposed to do and I put it in a wheelie. And now I have a dumb girlfriend that won't let me ride motorcycles.
00:27:04
Speaker
That's probably pretty smart by her. Yeah, I know. Sucks. I'm going to take my next pick. Pick number three. Look, this one, it's probably not as high on other people's list. You might not have even seen it. It came out maybe past your time. But I love the baseball as a kid. And this movie led me to my love of cooking. I'm taking Eddie's Million Dollar Cookoff. We all know growing up that Iron Chef
00:27:28
Speaker
America was the top cooking show. It was like the only one at the time, even though there's 500 now, introduces you to Bobby Flay, introduces you to cooking. Then you come into Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off and it's just this kid that's an elite baseball player. He's already got scouts looking at him and he's like, no dad, I love cooking too. And he goes and he wins a cooking competition. And I mean, it's basically high school musical before high school musical without the singing. And that movie sparked my love for cooking. And it also taught me how to crack an egg with one hand. That's insane.
00:27:56
Speaker
What year did that come out? I think 2004, 2005. I've never heard of it, so... Never heard of Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off? No, dude! You have Disney Plus, you can go watch it. I'm not going to. What else do you have to do? That's a bad pick. That's a good pick. Okay. I mean, it's not. It's a great pick. Hex! Hold on, bud. It's still my turn. I get two in a row there, bud. And I'm gonna take this one before you can take it. I'm taking the movie made from arguably the best Disney show of all time. I'm taking the Even Stevens movie.
00:28:25
Speaker
laugh riot, start to finish, Shia LaBeouf is great in it. Again, they go to Hawaii, they go like a tropical island, which makes it awesome, just automatically makes it awesome, plays off of the show so well. Yeah, I mean, that's just a top tier film, top tier Disney original film. How do you feel about, I feel like you are very much like Louis Stevens, especially growing up. If there was going to be somebody that was going to sit in a forbidden chair and eat Cheetos and cause it to fall apart and break down and wreak havoc on the entire group, that's you.
00:28:54
Speaker
Did you see the Dunya over there? The what? The Dunya over there? The Nunya? Yeah. No. Did you see the Nunya over there? Yeah, I see the Nunya over there. No. Say, what's Dunya? What's a Nunya? Nunya business. All right. So I'm going with the next pick and it's going to be, oh, this is a hard one. The Phantom of the Megaplex, because I love Halloween and I love a good, terrifying movie. And that's Phantom of the Megaplex.
00:29:22
Speaker
You know, Phantom of the Megaplex is just a play on Phantom of the Opera. Oh, is it? It is indeed, yes. Oh, I didn't realize. The Narnia thing was from Branc, just so you know. Oh, OK. I mean, I knew where you were trying to go with it. They'll get it.
00:29:37
Speaker
They'll get it. Phantom of the Megaplex is a good film. You get the villain running around mysteriously. You think it's the creepy old dude and then the guy pulls a sword from a stone and goes around and tries to fight bad guys and all that. That is a good pick. I do love Phantom of the Megaplex. Thank you. Is it really a top two Disney Channel original Halloween movie?
00:29:57
Speaker
well i have to pick it now i mean you have to pick it now but it's like when other stuff is out there you know you got don't look under the bed you know you got some other other disney ones out there but you're missing the second best halloween movie that i'm gonna take with this pick here and that's under wraps oh
00:30:13
Speaker
Under Raps is the original, the very first Disney Channel original movie. So it automatically has classic status right there kicking off, leading everything up. And it's about a mummy named Harold that goes with a bunch of kids and they're trying to sneak them around and he's going on the dance floor and you know, a bunch of divorcees are hitting on this thousands year old dead mummy. And that's what Under Raps is about. It was so good that they remade it Disney Channel Plus like a year ago.
00:30:41
Speaker
Oh, they did. I mean, I'm going to have to watch that tonight. I think you do. So, I mean, you missed that out on that one. That's my last pick. Is that your last pick? Are you sure? Yeah. Cause I got, uh, that would be number five, right? All right. Do I get another one? I got Brink, Halloweentown, Eddie's Million Dollar Cookoff, Even Stevens, and Underwraps. And you have Johnny Tsunami, Luck of the Irish, Phantom of the Macaplex, and Motocross. So yeah, you got, Oh my God. I have, I'm missing one. I still get another pick.
00:31:07
Speaker
Yeah, I think we, I don't know if I might've skipped you on one or what, but yeah, you go one, two, two. I didn't do two. And then I go two, two, one. So I shouldn't have gone, I shouldn't have gone and taken under wraps there. Okay. I was not going to take that. So just take that pick and then continue to this one. Pick four, five? No, this is your last pick. This is pick five for you. My last pick. All right. Cue me to my last pick. Ryan, why don't you give me the last pick in your Disney channel, original top five?
00:31:35
Speaker
This is honestly not on my list, but I just thought about it. And that is Xenon of the 21st century. So good. That is a great movie. That is on my list. I had others above it, but I'll give it to you. It is a good thing. Zoom, zoom, zoom. You sing the rest. I don't know the rest. Make my heart go boom, boom. It wasn't a special one to me, Xenon. Really? A lot of people loved it. But yeah, I mean, that's a popular one.
00:32:02
Speaker
the futuristic car was a bug zoom zoom zoom make my heart go boom boom so good i think i think he left some on the table here that i would have liked to see you take but there's i mean there's too many good ones well i mean are we not going to do the uh do some honorable mentions do you want to lead off the honorable mentions or do you want me to lead off the honorable mentions i will head at kelly smart house yes that's on my list we all wanted the house from smart house everybody wanted
00:32:28
Speaker
Yeah, it sounded awesome. It's got the coolest house of all time. What else you got? You got any other honorable mentions? No, I think he took most of my favorite. I mean, the Even Stevens movie was great. I mean, I wanted that so bad, but you know, you got it. The only one in my top 10 that we didn't get was the 13th year. Oh, is that the Mermaid movie? Yes, that is the Mermaid movie. Yeah, that's a good one. I feel like if, you know, if you're making a movie about mermaids and the boys love it too, it's a good film. Yeah, it's a good, good film.
00:32:56
Speaker
I also got take it to the mat. Take it to the mat. I was thinking about doing that for Alex, but. Yeah. Take it to the mat. Wrestling movie about a blind guy. Wrestling in high school. That's a good one. The other me. Quince. We got half court miracle. You seen half court miracle? Yeah, of course. Miracle in lane two.
00:33:11
Speaker
That's not the Frankie Muniz movie, right? Yeah, that's the Frankie Muniz. It is? Okay, yeah, that would have been on, because there were some movies that I wasn't sure if it was like Disney original. Miracle in Lane 2, I mean, that's just inspirational. It is inspirational. That's why I like, I like half-court Miracle, you know, got a bunch of white Jewish kids playing basketball. Yeah. Yeah, man, there's just too many good ones. There's too many good ones. We'll throw a high school musical out there too. That was a very popular one.
00:33:36
Speaker
the
00:33:44
Speaker
Well, you should go and watch high school musical tonight. Yeah, I definitely will. I bet why I would like that. If you did that with her, if you just went out there, put it on, grab some popcorn, it'd be a nice little surprise. She was like seven when that came out. So she probably loved it. I bet she was probably in like fifth grade, fourth grade. Okay. Yeah, probably.

Book Recommendation and Chocolate Updates

00:34:00
Speaker
I mean, that does it for our draft. I mean, I think we hit pretty much the best ones there. Best ones for sure. Do you have any other book recommendations? Do you want to do afternoon to blight book club?

00:34:17
Speaker
Let's move away from the fantasy, sci-fi, all that. I mean, everyone knows those. Those are good. I'm gonna go with a little thriller with Jack Carr, True Believer. Those you can watch, I mean, Jack Carr is on, I think, Amazon Prime now. It's a great show, and you can read the books, and it's a fun book, and it's a fun series to keep listening to. What's the book about?
00:34:40
Speaker
What's it about? Yeah, what's the book about? You're putting them on the spot here. You've read the book. Give me a little synopsis, sell it so people know it's the book club. They need to know what they're getting themselves into so they can get excited to read it.
00:34:52
Speaker
Okay, I think it's about, so, no, I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. Have you not read the book? No, I haven't read it. I read it a long time ago. Hold on, it's about, it's about a guy. About a guy he goes to, he's probably in like the Middle East. He's with his like SEAL team, a group of guys, and then the government is testing like a brain thing. Please don't.
00:35:19
Speaker
All right, everybody get out there. Oh, put that in there. Jack, true. It's not coming out. Well, let me think about the what it would be. Oh, we'll leave it will be good. People will love it. OK, good. Read it. It's so good. Yeah. And then, you know, Ryan and then he gets back at them.
00:35:45
Speaker
He's bad. All right, before we wrap up here, you dropped some pretty big news in the group chat about Copper Kettle. Do you want to share that with the people? What is the news? Copper Kettle no longer restricts the time frame in months of wind. Oh, yeah, no, yeah. You can get Copper Kettle whenever you want now, people.

00:36:13
Speaker
And Jack Carr, I mean, Jack Carr is a good guy. Oh wait, that's the author, the guy that- The book is called True Believer, right? Yeah, yeah. Oh, Ryan. You got anything else you want to share with the people?
00:36:26

And then we're going to possibly do once a year and Afternoon Delights League golf trip. Excellent. Was this the worst podcast of all time?
00:37:35
Speaker
I think it was the best podcast, up until the end, and then you kind of started to panic a little bit. But that's what Afternoon Delights is all about, Ryan. I'm going to leave all of this in, and the people are going to laugh at me and you not knowing what we're doing, and it's going to be a good time. It's going to bring a lot of smile to people's faces. I just like talking to you, so I'm happy.
00:37:52
Speaker
