What is ska known for? To some people, it’s having a guy in the band that only dances. The truth is that only a couple ska bands have a dancing guy. The most famous is Ben Carr from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. But let’s not forget the infamous ska-punk hype man Drew Skibitsky from the band Kill Lincoln. We talk to him this week.

What does it mean to be a hype man. Drew has his own thoughts, and it might not line up with how Ben Carr or other people treat their roles in the band. Drew sees his job as hyping up the band on and off stage, in whatever way is going to make as many people as possible as happy as possible.

We talk about Drew’s history with Kill Lincoln (He and Mike Sosinski share a birthday!), his history in booking shows, and we learn about his other band, Urban Crater. We learn about why flyering is so important. And Drew enlightens us about the greatest film franchise of all time: The Doghouse movies.

There’s lot of bonus content with Drew this week. If you’d like to listen to the entire interview, and get early access, ad-free episodes with bonus content every week, sign up to our Patreon
