Introduction to the Daily Southampton Podcast

00:00:13
Zak
Hello and welcome to the Daily Southampton, part of the Global Sports Podcast Network. I am your host, Zach Hinko Finch, as always, joined by the illustrious Gregory Elliott. How you doing, mate? You good?
00:00:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I'm doing real good, mate. I'm feeling very prepared for today's episode. Definitely didn't just ask you the name of the player that we're doing a profile on or anything. Just feeling good, mate. Feeling ready.
00:00:38
Zak
I was going to open by throwing you directly under the bus, but I have an inkling that you knew that, so that you've just done it yourself. Which shows you we spend too much time together.
00:00:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh.

Profile of Kasper Yander

00:00:49
Zak
But instead, instead Greg, you're right, we are doing a profile on Caspianda, and I was going to open with the quote, I hate to lose, I love winning games, and I'm here to win as many games as possible.
00:00:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
what
00:01:01
Zak
yeah You know? And I'm like, that is is what you want to hear from any player that joins any club ever. I feel like that is a safe quote for any player to use, for anything to say.
00:01:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah.
00:01:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:01:13
Zak
So how much do you know about Kasper Yander, Greg, considering you had to ask his name at the beginning of this segment?
00:01:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, look, in my defense, right, it was a busy transfer window.
00:01:22
Zak
It was...
00:01:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's been it's been a while. I've watched his highlight package, and it was exciting. and And, you know, how i do research, I'm a visual learner, and I watched a couple of different highlight packages, and, and yeah, I feel good now. I'm ready.
00:01:39
Zak
Good. Perfect. I'm so glad you definitely remember his name and know who he is and have watched him play football. where Hopefully we'll get to watch him play a bit more.
00:01:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, like, look, he... Yeah, absolutely. I mean, look, he seems to have a very good first touch. He's got good control over the ball and just seems to have a wand of a right foot that can, you know, bang it top bins from just out around anywhere outside the box. And that's just kind of ideal, isn't it?
00:02:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Like, that's what you want.
00:02:04
Zak
Some interesting points there, and they'll probably crop up again, mate. But he was born on the 23rd of March, 2003, which makes him 22.
00:02:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:02:13
Zak
And I know that we've discussed...
00:02:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh.
00:02:15
Zak
Yeah, I know. I know we've discussed Tyler Dibblin being, like, 18, Jay Robertson, like, just turning 18. And there's just something about sort 22 being, like, a year younger than my brother, who I still consider, like, a a child that just, like, breaks my brain a little bit.
00:02:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, look, I ah I ah still remember that when I worked in pubs, I was looking for 1990-something as the 18-year-old date. So the thought that someone who's 22 was born in something beginning with the 20s, deeply upset.
00:02:49
Zak
Yeah, well, it's the joke we always make, right?
00:02:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:02:52
Zak
That the passage of time is catching up us on us all. But then again, you know, it means that we get to look at the next generation of footballers come through and he's definitely one of them.
00:03:03
Zak
He is an international for the Germany under-21s with three caps and six caps for the under-20s. He actually played against the England under-21s that won the Euros in the summer. of course, part of the not winning team.
00:03:15
Zak
So he's also about the internationals. We've got, for all the international saints we have, we seem to have a lot that are in the youth teams at the moment still, which says a lot about, I guess, what we're trying to build as a club.
00:03:28
Zak
Or we're trying to make really good sellable assets. Depends on how cynical you are, right? but Why not both, hey? Why can't they not be good players?
00:03:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, look, mate, nice prospering youth is always going to be our core market, right?
00:03:36
Zak
can sell them later for lots of money.
00:03:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Sports Republic have made no secret about that, that that was the attractive prospect of Southampton in the first place, so those facilities and development throughout the club is is always going to be our target, and I'm fine with it.
00:03:57
Zak
Indeed. So we'll start off with his ah youth career. And he is one of the ones that, unlike a lot of the the other players that I've come across, where, you know, like, Siense was a bit of a struggle to you to go through this, like, sort of younger career and also just a completely different path.
00:04:12
Zak
Yeah. this Jander's got like more of just like he plays lots of youth football, breaks into the first team, breaks into another first team, and then has ended up here.
00:04:25
Zak
That doesn't mean a lot didn't happen. He started his youth career at Germania Moritz in 2008 until 2013. You will note Greg, that until would have put him at five
00:04:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow, that's crazy.
00:04:40
Zak
So, so it's like when you talk about, you know, you talk about your boy playing football, right? Like a sort of like a real youth level. You kind of forget that some of these professionals really do start in the youth youth nowadays. Um,
00:04:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's that's crazy. Yes.
00:04:57
Zak
In 2013, when he was moved on Youth Monster Youth. ah two years so so he's already got got his first big move at ten me
00:05:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
mad
00:05:11
Zak
to spend to spend two years at but month year And then ah's from 2015 at 12, he did another two years at Borussia Dortmund, who, you know, I think most people know that name, right?
00:05:23
Zak
Probably up there with iconic clubs alongside like Bayern Munich and obviously in recent years Leverkusen. And then he moved to FC Schackley 04 for four years in their youth academy, which don't know if you started to notice, Greg, seems to be a bit of a...
00:05:39
Zak
like ah ah There's a lot of people we've spoken about where that's been a similar trend, right? That's Sienza, Akorshi, and now Yanda, all of which have been around that academy at some point.
00:05:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:05:53
Zak
It's like, I don't know what is inside men that sports have, but one them seems to be there, right? And then he was there from 2017

Challenges in Tracking Youth Career Stats

00:06:04
Zak
to And he appeared 17 times. So there are under-17s scoring once and assisting once.
00:06:12
Zak
And then he joined, eventually, MSV Dürresberg, playing for their under-19 team in 2021 to 2022. And they are the third division German team, right?
00:06:24
Zak
So, again, like a little bit... not any sort of crazy youth career no hopping countries nothing like that kind of just came through and it's like i don't even really when you talk about youth career it's like do you do you count from when somebody's five to ten is like that it's weird right it just feels who was like you played football forever is i guess the only thing i can tell you like it's
00:06:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's crazy. the well What's really crazy about that, Zach, is that I know from my nip of playing youth football that they don't let us as parents see the results or the scores or the league tables because of safeguarding reasons. So the fact that like it's tracked to the point that you have statistics of him from that age is absolutely nuts to me. Like, it's mental.
00:07:11
Zak
It's kind of insane, isn't it? Like we talk about how it's one of the most documented things in the world and you can find like attendances down to like the individual number from like the turn of the century. But yeah, sometimes the amount of data is just terrifying. And then the flip side of that is that some of these research episodes are really hard to find out, like to nail down when a player played for a certain team.
00:07:32
Zak
And it's just baffling the sheer sort of differences in information. And I think a lot of that comes down to, I guess, like how much traction that player gets in the media and all those kinds of things as well is how much research people are willing to put into it to actually find out.
00:07:47
Zak
But either way, crazy. And that's where we'll leave it for the first part, Greg, after a word from our partners at Bionique. And then we'll be back to talk about his senior debut.
00:08:35
Zak
And we are back. And when we left off, he was about to make his...

Rise to Prominence in German Leagues

00:08:41
Zak
Senior debut against Saarbrücken. Saarbrücken. That's better. No ridiculous amounts of times that Greg needs to correct it this time. And he also later scored his first goal against that same team in January 2023.
00:08:58
Zak
And he made a total of 60 appearances, scoring twice and is assisting seven times for Dürerisberg before or getting a move to a Bundesliga 2 team.
00:09:09
Zak
And that team is FC Nuremberg, who were in the second division and it was during the 24-25 season. So our most recent really depressing season. And he did well for them as well. He made, in a total of 36 appearances, he scored three times and assisted 10.
00:09:27
Zak
And that kind of put him on the map and the radar and is probably one of the big things that led us to pick him up, right? So, you know, I know that we both...
00:09:39
Zak
lambast sort of stats also use them, right? we We like to contradict ourselves a little bit there, Greg. but We're like, stats mean nothing, but also here's a bunch of stats.
00:09:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:09:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Stats don't mean nothing. You just can't base a full opinion based exclusively on stats.
00:09:58
Zak
but There you go.
00:09:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
right like
00:09:59
Zak
That's a much better way of
00:10:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Having those numbers shows that he's in and about the goal and creating chances and creating that. That doesn't mean that you can immediately assume anything about his style of play.
00:10:11
Zak
Thank you.
00:10:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just the evidence you can use to help base your opinion from watching them.
00:10:17
Zak
Yeah, I ill wholeheartedly agree. And as I said, from a stats perspective, he keeps going up and up. And as he's going up the leagues as well, they're going up with him.
00:10:28
Zak
So it's easy to see why, you know from from that perspective, it's exciting. But there are other reasons why I think that we should not be too... I don't want to think that every single one of our players that's joining us is going to be an absolute world-beater.
00:10:42
Zak
But also, would be nice to think that we got more gems than not this this time round, right? And that seems to be the case, at least in on paper, which, as you always pointed out, Greg, is not where football is played, it is played on grass.
00:10:57
Zak
but Before you immediately mug me off. But it's... His last appearance him was on the 22nd of August, unfortunately, in a 2-1 loss, and he missed the two games after there with knee problems before joining us.
00:11:11
Zak
I'm going to speculate what those knee problems are. He joined us for reported 12 million euros, or 10.4 million pounds. yeah, that's where that's what led him up to us. You might be like, Zach, there's 12 minutes of this profile. if you got more to talk about?
00:11:25
Zak
Yes. Because luckily, there's a lot of scouting reports and some other bits and pieces. The only bit of information I skipped over was the FC 25 ratings because it was 66 and it means nothing.
00:11:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
and that's pretty That's pretty good for a Bundesliga 2 player. Like,
00:11:42
Zak
I have no idea. Again, not really played FIFA in a long, long old time. and So I had a look at his agency. As we all know, that's one of my fun things to do. It's very, very small. It's just three players and a manager.
00:11:54
Zak
ah It's another player from Durisberg, so it's probably he joined them alongside his mate, I guess, at the time, or somebody he knew. They are a very non-interesting agency.
00:12:06
Zak
Yanda is the highest profile player of the three. Why do I bring this up? Well, for the same reason that Greg pointed out that we brought it up last week, is that it does mean that his name isn't Georgie Mendez and he's not going to try and be sold off at the whim.
00:12:21
Zak
he He looks like he's got some council behind him where that council is solely related to him and not trying to make noise or do dodgy stuff.
00:12:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:12:29
Zak
I don't know, but that's that. So so i guess the real question, Greg, is why did we sign him, right?

Scouting Reports and Borussia Dortmund Interest

00:12:35
Zak
So I had a look through Aidan McHenry's report on targetscouting.com. And this is a report that came out in 2022. So this was during his third division days, right?
00:12:49
Zak
And these are some of the highlights.
00:12:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:12:51
Zak
I'm not going to plagiarize word for word. However, I will make sure it's in the description so you can can check out the article for yourself if you're you're interested in reading it a bit reading a bit more.
00:13:02
Zak
But he is described as having high effort, great pace and agility, high instincts and high football IQ for his age. Now, bear in mind, he's 22 now. 2022 would have been you know three years ago, about 18, 19.
00:13:15
Zak
So he was already kind of showing very promising signs at that point. He was an excellent on-the-ball player that draws a lot of fouls due to his excellent dribbling and pace.
00:13:28
Zak
So, you know, it's one of the things that we've always kind of had in our midfield, in our defensive midfield, right, is that We like our players, you know, the Browns and the Romayu do both.
00:13:40
Zak
We like them to draw fouls and we also like them to give it out. And don't worry, Greg, that will also come up too. One of the things that he was most impressed by was that he handles pressure really, really well and is is really good at decision making, which translates off the ball as well.
00:13:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank
00:13:55
Zak
And it's kind of reminded me of like the Matsuki profile, although this is more of a central midfielder like defensive defensively. mindedly player and we've we've kind of pushed Matsuki a look a little bit more advanced.
00:14:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
the
00:14:04
Zak
it's There's a lot of crossover. like You can see we are going for profiles of player that fit this transition away from the Russell Martin style of possession football, right?
00:14:16
Zak
It's always sound like i know what I'm talking about, right
00:14:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mate, it's sounding good. Like, yeah, right.
00:14:21
Zak
Greg. LAUGHTER
00:14:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's like, look, this same sort of physical presence, the profile, you say, it matches across the board for pretty much all of the signings we've brought in.
00:14:30
Zak
Mm-hmm.
00:14:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it sounds like we've got another one of these, like Wellington, that's like an experienced player who's still youthful and with plenty of room to progress and, you know, up their game.
00:14:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
And, mate, it sounds amazing.
00:14:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
You get me so excited with these profile episodes.
00:14:46
Zak
Yes.
00:14:47
Zak
i don't mean to, but also like, again, like i I'm noticing more the sort of patterns, right? Across the board of ah ah what is said a about the players that we've had coming in and,
00:15:03
Zak
And he fits a pattern of what we have wanted to bring in, right? And like the first bit of criticism we've had for him is that he could do better to fight in space as he's a bit too stationary.
00:15:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:15:13
Zak
But a lot, you know, he's not an out and out sort of natural goal scorer. He's not been going for the goals. That's not really his role. but he still has given it a go when he's needed to.
00:15:25
Zak
Defensively, McKenry was very complimentary as well, saying that he is aggressive and high energy. But Greg, you'll be shocked to know that because of this, he is prone to a foul because he always goes to the ball.
00:15:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wonderful.
00:15:39
Zak
during the season when he was targeting it, when he was scouting it this point, I think he'd already picked up like three cards, like three yellows in a handful of appearances before this scouting report came out.
00:15:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Amazing.
00:15:50
Zak
And the, like, McHenry points out at the time he was being played as a box-to-box, but thinks that he would be better in a system that play him in a more advanced role, which, when he was kind of brought in, it looks, I think, George Rea Studio, which I'll talk about later, also does a great sort of summary article in his first kind of bit of Saints and why we probably picked him.
00:16:12
Zak
but part of that conversation is that he was supposed to kind of be brought in kind of as a Matty Fernandes replacement, but also not really, because for me, he like instead sits in that kind of central midfield location as maybe, you know, someone ah ah to rival, so Shea Charles, Flint Downs, Joe Arebo, because umm unless that Friday deadline goes without him going, mate, he is still at the club.
00:16:34
Zak
Yeah.
00:16:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:35
Zak
We need to remember that. We'd be surprised if a player experience who's been here a while maybe gets thrown into a derby. We'll talk about that another time. But yeah, he he also talks about how he would be good in a possession-dominant squad because of his control and passing range, which as much as we're hoping not to have possession for the sake of possession, I think there is an expectation probably for most of the fan base and like the league and the players were and the teams we're coming up against themselves, that we are probably going to have more of the ball than most of the teams we're coming up against in the championship, right?
00:17:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:07
Zak
you There is an expectation that that is the case. So theoretically, he should fit into that quite well as well. And the article ended that he was probably on track to make it into the Bundesliga 2 and maybe in the future in the Bundesliga.
00:17:23
Zak
And obviously that happened, Greg, because he ended up going up to Nuremberg and then spent less than a year there, had the absolute season of his life, and then got picked up by us. And we'll talk about that and some more bits and pieces after a word from our partners at Zencastr.
00:17:42

00:18:05
Zak
And we are back. And after a, a, what I can only describe as a wonderfully positive summary that went on to predict his his moves quite accurately after 2022.
00:18:18
Zak
There was a a bit more that I managed to find. So in a Bundesliga watch news website, there was an article in April 2025 that started to link into Borussia Dortmund and how he might be a really, really natural fit to fit into them that wouldn't be too expensive domestically.
00:18:39
Zak
And... it was basically due to the exemplary campaign that he had. They were just like, wow, this guy's an absolute talent. We need to sweep him and pick him up quickly. And he would be a good fit because obviously Borussia Dortmund have had their own recruitment troubles, especially where, you know, they've had they've been pilfered left, right and centre.
00:18:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank
00:18:56
Zak
There was also interest from Bayer Leverkusen, but that kind of ended. And it almost feels like the the the plaudits that...
00:19:10
Zak
this guy was giving him but almost straight out of the article that I'd read previously. Now, I don't know if that's the case. It might be that he just continued doing all of those things that are quite obvious.
00:19:21
Zak
And the reason that I think that that's quite obvious, Greg, is that you haven't read any of the source material I've sent you, but you have watched him visually in compilations and you have basically said like for like what people have picked up from the scouting, right?
00:19:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:19:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
i
00:19:35
Zak
Which doesn't...
00:19:36
Zak
I'm not trying to say you're going to be a future... you know, football scout in your career. Who knows? You might be. You've definitely got the data acumen for it.
00:19:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
It mr turns out that if you watch thousands of hours of football in your lifetime, that your brain does work out how to analyse it a bit, regardless of profession, right? Yeah.
00:19:55
Zak
Look, it's one of those things where in everything that we've always done all of our lives, Greg, me and you have both had imposter syndrome.
00:19:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
you
00:20:01
Zak
And then occasionally we prove ourselves wrong in the most ridiculous ways, right?
00:20:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
b
00:20:05
Zak
You've done that today in our day job. And you've done it again this evening as well. of So yeah, a he almost ended up at VFB Sturgate, who Sturgat, who put in a €10 million euros bid, but that wasn't expected wasn't accepted because they wanted at least 15, right?
00:20:25
Zak
Obviously, they we negotiated them down to 12, but Sturgat at that point pulled out of the transfer entirely, and then they just didn't go back in for him, which is when we jumped in, right?
00:20:37
Zak
And obviously, we secured that signature, and he is now our player, and is somebody that kind of fell in the radar between Tom Fellows and Finesas because they are proven championship quality.
00:20:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:20:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:20:47
Zak
You know, we haven't done profiles on them, but it is, you know, it's because they've been around the championship for a long time. Like maybe we will. I think me and Greg, we were talking about floating the idea of maybe combining them both together, but also don't if that does a disservice.
00:21:00
Zak
We'll figure it out one way or another. But one of the reasons I wanted to cover him first is there's not a huge no but huge amount known about him.
00:21:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:21:07
Zak
George Roos Julian for the jt Daily Echo did another fantastic article on him as well. And cites one of the big things that kind of comes across from his interview and just him as a person is that he will he looks like a Will Still signing because he just has a desire to win, which is very much what Will Still is about, right?
00:21:24
Zak
it's like, don't really care about how we do it, just to win the game.
00:21:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:21:27
Zak
And he very much, you know, wants to win the game.
00:21:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Well,
00:21:32
Zak
Miroslav Close who called him a total professional and it was an all-time scorer for Germany and he was his former manager as well at Nuremberg so but when you've got you know an international hero calling you yeah right so it's like
00:21:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
that's my praise for a well-respected name in football. Yeah. That's amazing.
00:21:51
Zak
so That's always always nice to hear. And I think the the summary is that he wants to win, which is just, to be quite honestly, like a mentality we desperately need.

Shifting Southampton's Mentality

00:22:02
Zak
And there's a another bit that Rich Union quotes from him talking about the Southampton Way. And he's like, well, the Southampton Way got us relegated. I just want to I think the new Southampton Way needs to just be winning. And I'm like, yes.
00:22:14
Zak
That is what it needs to be.
00:22:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:22:16
Zak
Not not like rigid philosophies and we it like little books that need to put out and live our life through that way.
00:22:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:22:22
Zak
it needs to be, you know, we want to win. i We'll figure out ways to win no matter what because that is the difference between the world beaters and the non, right? And I know this is a bit dramatic considering we are in the second run of English football, but it's it's great to have that mentality in and around a group of players where I think some of them have just lost it.
00:22:41
Zak
And a lot of them have gone to rebuild their careers elsewhere to get that back. And, you know, you will not be, I think, I guess, tainted by any of the the stuff around us because it's not been here before.
00:22:52
Zak
So, yeah, we'll see what happens. Because as George points out as well, like he's have to try and dislodge Finn, Flynn Downs or Shea to get into the team. And that's hard work because they do a lot and they're great. Yeah.
00:23:06
Zak
And on top of that, we might now have a Joe Aribo that's, like, floating about. Like, obviously, there's a couple of days left before the Turkish window's down shut, I think. It might be closed by the time you guys are listening to it. But, like, I said to Greg earlier here about how Ananas potentially moving to Translund 4.
00:23:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
It closes on Thursday. I looked this up earlier.
00:23:22
Zak
Right. So, so yeah, there's still there's still some time for those moves to go ahead.
00:23:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:23:27
Zak
I don't know if the Belgian one's the same, but if not, like, we've potentially got two outcasts.
00:23:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Belgium closes today at the time of recording, so we'll be closed by the time this episode goes out.
00:23:36
Zak
So, yeah, unless all of a sudden something late comes out from the club that means a dozie is gone, potentially a dozie is still here. So, you know, that there's going to be more competition than I think that they would have originally planned for. I think that he's got all the elements to be able to dislodge them in different, you know, different aspects. And I know I keep kind of ending these with, wow, we've got an incredibly exciting prospect. ah But we do.
00:23:59
Zak
So, once again, it's just like, wow, all of the all of the stuff's there?
00:24:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
complete
00:24:04
Zak
and Can they... reach out grab it.
00:24:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
the
00:24:07
Zak
Like, that's it.
00:24:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's really good, though. No, look, it's really good because, I mean, honestly, you say that his competition is going to have to dislodge those sort of places, but actually...

Squad Depth and Challenges

00:24:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
We saw in the last game with Flynn Downs out because he needs to learn how to cook chicken properly, that actually without Flynn there, Shea Charles didn't have his best game. And, you know, it's together in those positions that we have that strength. And so we're going to need that depth in that position because let's face it, that position on the pitch with
00:24:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Those players in particular are not just liable to sickness and injuries, but also suspensions. So but we're going to need cover.
00:24:48
Zak
Yeah, yeah i but between the amount of cards that these three should pick up between them means that it might end up having to be a rotation of the three just because of the amount of suspension.
00:24:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:24:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:24:59
Zak
so
00:24:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:25:00
Zak
But yeah, it's it's it's fascinating that, again, like i I know that we've talked about football is played on grass, it's not played on paper, but like I think from an on-paper perspective, what realistically more could we have done? Yeah.
00:25:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:25:16
Zak
Like, the pieces of the puzzle of are all there.
00:25:18
Zak
And I think that, you know, some of the some other pieces, it's like we've, you know, we've managed to find all of these kind of gems where, and, you know, people might think we've potentially paid over the odds for him. But if he ends up coming, you know, if he ends up turning into, say, even, like, another Matty Fernandez that ends up being sold for, like, 30, 40 million dollars down the line after, like, two or three seasons, like, then that means that it's good business.
00:25:39
Zak
We've got to witness a great footballer that potentially might become incredible in the future. so So, yeah, I just think it's, It's good. And I wish him all the best in his first season in English, you know, the English League.
00:25:51
Zak
So, yes, it's really... It's just been refreshingly nice to talk about one of these great transfers that haven't felt like their very last minute. Every single one of them has felt like they've been very much planned out, right?
00:26:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's been good. It's It's been a good
00:26:05
Zak
And it's interesting that a lot of these
00:26:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
one. It's almost like my having a structure and someone specifically in charge of making those plans makes a difference rather than Russell Martin and Gilly bouncing ideas back and forward off of themselves like an echo chamber.
00:26:21
Zak
heard of Maxwell Cornet. You should bring him in. Oh, that's a harsh of that poor guy. Maybe he hope he's having a better loan spell wherever he's at nowadays because, God, that was dire.
00:26:31
Zak
But, yeah, once again, Greg, thank you very much for joining me. As said, it was was actually a bit... ah it it was so It was so smooth to be able to research this. It didn't it didn't require... It didn't require, like, digging into, like, page 97 Google and then translating an article that you hope...
00:26:48
Zak
is from a less dubious source. So as I always point out, in the episode description, there will be all the list of sources that but I've

Research Methods and Credits

00:26:55
Zak
used. So if you feel like learning more or reading where I've read all of this, feel free to check that out.
00:27:01
Zak
Thank you, Greg, for listening to me more full on, as you always do.
00:27:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:27:05
Zak
It's great have someone to bounce this off of.
00:27:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
thank you as always Thank you as always for creating it I love these profile episodes honestly I feel so much more educated than just watching 6 minutes of a YouTube video
00:27:09
Zak
No worries.
00:27:12
Zak
Ha
00:27:15
Zak
ha ha! I think the best thing about it is because we do this daily podcast, mate, you have to listen to me talk about it. Whereas usually if I was just telling it to you in person, you'd be there like, yeah, yeah, sure.
00:27:26
Zak
And I can literally hear like the clown noises going around in a circle. Like, yeah, did you say you'd like scored for that club? i was like, no, no, completely different bloke. Like, oh, that's a shame.
00:27:37
Zak
So yeah, thank you very much once again. Thank you to all of the the journalists and all these people that do all of this stuff. Like again, like most people in any level of academia, and Everyone's just kind of copying each other.
00:27:49
Zak
And I don't like to put it just down to that, but without this information, I wouldn't be able to provide it to So once again, thank you to them and check out yeah the OG sources if you fancy learning more.
00:27:59
Zak
More importantly, thank you to you, our wonderful listeners.

Social Media Engagement

00:28:03
Zak
We're building up to the South Coast Derby. It might have not been the most relative, or it's going to be because randomly he'll appear on Saturday and score the World Day. That would be absolutely beautiful.
00:28:15
Zak
But, you know, I think it's important that we start to get to know the squad. They're going to be with us for the rest of the season. And it's just just just fun. But, you know, it wouldn't exist. There'd be no point if it wasn't for all of you wonderful people listening. So thank you so much. We are on all the social medias. We are on Facebook.
00:28:31
Zak
