Speaker: right, guys, we're live. Welcome back to the Savage Boston podcast. We are here. it is September 29th, 840 at night. ah There's a lot going on tonight.

Speaker: I know it's like tough, tough time. We're we're competing with some some great stuff happening right now. So we got Red Sox, Yankees on, which we got in the got in the background, which obviously, um you know, is a good that's a good background one to have on. The Bruins openers tonight, Bruins against the Rangers, so that'll be big.

Speaker: But obviously for us, um we still got to digest what's going on with the Patriots and what happened in the game this past weekend. So um I guess before before I go on kind of an initial rant, do you guys have any quick initial thoughts you want to get out while I tweet this out? You guys give me your first initial thoughts and then I'll i'll start ranting.

Speaker: I'll lead off by saying that it's been a processing 24 hours plus now to just kind of digest what happened during the game because you know Watching it, it was very doom and gloom, and it's hard to walk away from that game and not still feel incredibly frustrated.

Speaker: um just There's just a lot going on. i think and we'll get through the specifics. It's more than just May. there's There's just a lot of things that are broken on this team right now. that are concerning but I also think there's things that are fixable and I think ah it's something that we can definitely turn this around and we have the ability to do that so I'm not going to like say the season's lost and we have no shot. We're definitely not there right now. We're just not right. And it's frustrating to see that happening because we've lost all momentum that we gained from last year. and We're basically back to where we were a year ago at this time. So the question is, do we have the characters and and the capability with the skill set that we have on this roster and the and the coaching aptitude to be able to figure it out?

Speaker: So time will tell. We obviously have a big test coming up with the Bills, but I feel like all of the momentum we gained last year, we've lost and we've have we have to reestablish ourselves. And now it's going to be what are we made of.

Speaker: is Was last year a fluke? Or is this something where we're just having a skid and we're going to get back to form? and And that's the biggest question we have. And we'll we'll kind of dive through that as we go.

Speaker: Yeah. 20,000 foot view thoughts for Snooty before you rip in? um I am significantly more pessimistic than that. um Excellent. it just feels like, it just feels like last year was, was I'm not using the schedule talk. cause I think that's overblown, but I i feel like last year, um was a kind of year where everything kind of clicked and everything kind of worked.

Speaker: And it just feels like, that like not, I think they had 16 guys go on the IR last year. They're already at 17 or 18 this year. Like it just feels like this is the kind of year where it's just not going to, it's like a, it's almost like a market correction. Like it's, if you look at it on the whole, they're not as good as they're not 14 win good last year, but they're certainly not this bad this year. You know what I mean? Like they're probably somewhere in the middle. So it just feels like a correction year, which,

Speaker: Unfortunately, i believe means we need to reset our expectations, and I think even making the playoffs would be a good thing at this point. But that's far from a given for me. Yeah. Well, all right. Now that I've kind of dealt there. So I would say this. So I think people quickly, obviously watching the game, right, your initial instinct is – let's hammer Drake, man. Right. That's everyone's initial first thing is like, he's the focal piece. He's the quarterback. He's the guy with the ball, right? He's the one you see first. Okay. He makes a ah bad pass. He, you know, overthrows someone. Your initial thoughts are, this is all may let's blame. Let's blame Drake may.

Speaker: The problem is like, you got to start to look at all the other reasons why this might be malfunctioning other than just the quarterback position. Right. Um,

Speaker: watching the game, watching the tape, and we've all watched a lot of clips now. We've watched – some people have watched Wall 22, whatever, or listened to break many breakdowns, whatever you want, right? So for me, watching through the tape, I would just say initially, like, guys just aren't open to me.

Speaker: Like, no one's being schemed – open in the way that you want them to be schemed open. Yeah, there's random plays throughout it. Like I just saw Kurt Becker did some one play breakdown where he's in late in the game. like, look, Dobbs was open this with one singular play, right?

Speaker: and So, but that's not the whole game. Like going through the first half when the game's actually close and not in garbage time. I'm watching a lot of plays like, yeah, there's a few plays in there where maybe Drake last year would have had the confidence to set his feet and rip it like in fine Matt Collins coming across or, or be able to feather it in perfectly. It's just not how it's going right now. Like everything is contested. They know exactly how to play the two high shell zones against him. They know how to confuse him. Like this is what's driving me crazy is clearly um they know they have the tape now, whether it's just on McDaniels offense,

Speaker: or on Drake May, they know how they're trying to play against the player. So what's driving me crazy though, it's not just Drake. It's not Drake just being like, oh, he's making the bad reads. Oh, it's just his turnovers. Yes, he's turning the ball over. He's making mistakes. There's no doubt.

Speaker: But why is he making mistakes? How pressed is Drake May, right? How pressed, just like in the game against Seattle where it's frustrating, right? And he feels pressed to be a superhero, right?

Speaker: The pressure's on him to to make Herculean efforts because nothing else is fucking happening. First of all, they can't fucking run the football.

Speaker: They can't run the football. thought Evan Lazar's had a perfect clip today, okay? He's saying they're just running duo, you know, doubles and and trying to move bodies, right? They're running duo to the interior, just straight up the fucking ass, and you're getting three yards of carry.

Speaker: Right into the ass. Nothing else happened. I don't think there's silver linings with the run game. Nothing's creative. There's little movement. Then you go watch Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears, and it's like, what the fuck am I watching? It's a different sport.

Speaker: It's a different offense. Like, no wonder that they just beat – crushed the Eagles with Case Keenum. and Everyone's like, oh, is Case Keenum fucking – is Case Keenum, you know, better than Drake May?

Speaker: no that how is that your your your That shouldn't be your takeaway from the game. It should be that Case Keenum was set up to succeed in that fucking game.

Speaker: Case Keenum has an excellent OC right now and and play caller who's setting him up for a fucking success. The Patriots can't run the football. Running straight in the ass. No one has the vision. I think, is this how they're coaching it?

Speaker: don't Don't improvise. Let's just... Get that 3.4 yards of carry you can get straight up the asshole, straight up the dick. That's what you're trying to do? Because I'm starting to get fucking pissed off watching it. Not only is just boring football, but it actually doesn't work.

Speaker: That's the issue. It's not just boring. It's actually football that's not fucking working. Okay? So you have to change something. Then, and I'm going to keep fucking going. Then, who's his number one receiver right now?

Speaker: It's fucking Matt Collins. That's your number one wide receiver, Matt Collins. That should not have happened. And it shouldn't be happening.

Speaker: Why is Drake only comfortable throwing to Matt Collins? Why is that happening? that This should be what everyone's saying. This shouldn't be the one fucking player.

Speaker: So you can blame the weapons. You can blame the run game. You can blame the scheme. You can blame the roster construction that they got rid of two fucking receivers he had great rapport with and digs they didn't bring back and booty they trade for fucking nothing.

Speaker: So, again, there's I know we could I could rant forever on it because it made me so angry to watch the other night. But there's many problems. It's not just Drake. There's problems all over the fucking place.

Speaker: So sorry, it's a lot to chew on. i don't know, Brett, you tell me where you want to start with that shit. But it's a lot here. Well, I'll start with the person that I think is the most to blame after Drake when it comes to some of these dumb plays. It's McDaniels. like the McDaniels offense, it's a reflection on who he is as a coach and as a coordinator, how he's managing this team. And so we talked about, yeah, you're one hundred percent correct. There's no creativity.

Speaker: It's very predictable what they're doing. When you go out there, it's just like, they have some of the lowest play action rates of any teams in the league. They're not doing anything creative for run routes. There's so many times where it's like you do a play action, but then you only send two guys deep and they're just bracketed.

Speaker: Like it's not even close to get fucking fooling anybody. No, not at all. Like no one is biting on any of this stuff. So there's just no creativity there.

Speaker: The only time we had a semi-creative play, like almost got blown up and Chisholm just happened to throw it over the top to Hollins, which just was dumb luck. Like just dumb luck. So you have to look at the offensive coordinator and say, this offense is not progressing.

Speaker: And I don't want to hear the lack of weapons. I get it it's It's a problem. We don't have the greatest of weapons in the world. But you just pointed to the fact that Chicago took Case Keenum, 38-year-old backup quarterback who hasn't played really in five years. All of a sudden, he goes out there and he lights up Philadelphia.

Speaker: They blew the doors off of Philadelphia. Because you have a creative offensive coordinator out there. He's the head coach, but he's the guy running the offense. And he's basically drawing things up to open guys and put them in position to be explosive. I mean, you look at the weapons we have with Travion Henderson, Kyle Williams. I get it. Like Kyle Williams, a lot of boneheaded moves during this game. And it's frustrating the fuck out of me.

Speaker: But the guy's got skill set that you can't replicate in other guys. Can you just get him in a flat spot? Can you throw a screen to the guy? Can you do a quick route to the guy where he doesn't have to read an effing zone that he can't read?

Speaker: Like, you're you're not doing anything to put this player in a position to succeed. These are the chips you have, Josh. This is the players you have. You have to figure this out. Like, people get injured. Yeah, it sucks we lost A.J. Brown.

Speaker: It sucks that Raritan went down because Henry looks really bad. But like, Josh, you have other weapons. You got Dobbs for a reason and you're not utilizing He should be our number one right now. And you're barely using the guy. So it just, it drives me crazy when you watch how we run these offensive plays.

Speaker: And I'm like, I don't know what you want Drake to do. Like you're not putting him in any position to succeed. The guy clearly is struggling. We talked about it at last game. i was like, when you looked scripted against Pittsburgh,

Speaker: The ah offense looked good. You then come in and like you lose all of that momentum because you're not putting any successful plays. like There's no creativity. There's nothing. We're just gone so vanilla because we're looking it saying, well, our guys are struggling to execute, so we've got to dumb it down.

Speaker: But the counter situation of that is you dumb it so far down, it makes it like incredibly easy for the defense and impossible for Drake to do anything. So I i get it. We'll get into Drake, but I'm so beyond pissed with Josh McDaniels and just the fact that he has not progressed at all. Everything we've heard in the offseason about like, oh, he's been studying other teams and going to the college game and learning when he took that year off.

Speaker: It hasn't shown at all, at all. i think you already got My bigger issue is the offense is completely broken from top to bottom. Drake may has lost all confidence in himself. He has lost all confidence in the offense with the ability to play. It's very clear by the fact that he's skittish. He's seeing ghosts already from pressure and things like that, where the left side of the line has overall been pretty good during the season, right? Like Campbell's been good. Barrett Tucker's been pretty good. Even Wilson has been pretty good overall. He had, he's very bad against Pittsburgh, but like overall he's been pretty good. The right side has been abysmal. It is what it is.

Speaker: But like, if they can't stop the penalties on offense, if they can't execute even simple plays, if they can't do anything well on offense, and if may is regressing and doesn't have any confidence, what the fuck does McDaniels bring to the table?

Speaker: like genuinely, what does he bring to the table? Cause like all of that is squarely on the offensive coordinator, right? Like you guys hit on all the points. Like I also, i also wonder like they don't have the biggest O-line overall, but they have a pretty like really fucking athletic offensive line outside of right tackle. Like why aren't we running more stretch zone? Why aren't we running some of that type of stuff? And you can run bootleg off of that. Like, but You know you what I mean? like they They're they' just so so slow on offense. They're so fucking slow. They're slow moving. They're slow to call plays. It's slow developing plays. It's slow everything. Everything is fucking slow. No motion. Nothing. There's there's there's no

Speaker: There's nothing involved that like you. I don't know what they do that they can hang their head on offensively. Nothing. They can't run the ball. The only one who I mean, Stevenson's probably better overall on the down to down basis than Henderson. But Henderson is the only one who can like make any type of play. um Overall, yes, the weapons are worse than they were last year because you don't have digs. And and again, i keep saying, oh, this is the reason they just shouldn't have traded Booty. Dude, Booty like had like 30 catches last year. okay like

Speaker: Booty wouldn't be making this any any better, realistically. like He just wouldn't. like it tight Hold on, but to that, like, you have to at at least acknowledge that Drake had rapport with Booty, and the balls he would throw Booty were all, like, downfield, you know, lot of touchdowns, you know, well, not a lot, but some touchdowns, downfield, you average huge, like,

Speaker: yeah depth of target to booty. Right. Like he was, that was a lot of X plays and at least at a minimum, he trusted him. Right. Like, like he trusted booty. So that is something at a minimum versus or disappointment this year of like, how much money did you pay Romeo Dobbs?

Speaker: Yeah. Like a bunch. How come – So, listen, I saw someone compare the stats for Dobbs in the first three games last year to Booty for the first three games last year. They're pretty fucking identical.

Speaker: Yeah. Pretty fucking good. But with Dobbs, though, like not only are you paying him a lot of money, like where's the work in the offseason with these two? Like being serious, like why doesn't Drake trust these fucking players? Yeah.

Speaker: Why doesn't he trust Dobbs? Where's the work? Like, shouldn't they have been all fucking offseason? Like, i don't know. Is there something to the, like, they didn't put in the work together? i don't know. Like, why are we in the why are we in the season right now? Okay? This is a genuine question. You guys respond. like Why are we in the season and the only fucking person Drake trusts is Matt Collins? Why is that happening?

Speaker: Because that's a fucking problem, a massive problem. You guys know? Well, I don't know if he doesn't trust Dobbs. I really don't. I get it. Dobbs had an abysmal drop in a really bad situation, which is why he's getting a ton of heat.

Speaker: But I don't think you look at how May is going about with Dobbs and saying that that's a situation where May doesn't trust Dobbs. Again, I don't think McDaniels is utilizing Dobbs the way he should. like He's not being utilized the same way he was utilizing Green Bay.

Speaker: Like, he's got to be utilized to the skill set and what he provides. What I will say is when it comes to booty, like, I had i was fine. I was fine if he stayed, fine if he left.

Speaker: I think it's working out okay because of the fact that you do you did pick up a safety, and that safety is playing right now because Craig Woodson's down. So you you needed a safety. And we looked at our wide receiver room and we said, we have all of this depth at wide receiver. We need more depth than other positions. So I was fine with the trade. Diggs is the one that pisses me off the most because it was like we'd never even considered that guy. And that guy was a blanket.

Speaker: That was a guy that if you knew you needed a quick dig route to get out and get like five yards, seven yards, he was going to get And and You know, May would just throw it into the tightest of coverage or just like throw it down in the dirt and Diggs would find a way to go through. The guy has amazing hands and we did nothing to bring him back. And then the second thing is the intangible of being a leader and holding them accountable. Like we talk about how this team looks. Like clearly they're struggling, but like if this was happening, Diggs would be up in everyone's ass on the sideline saying, let's go, let's go, let's go. You don't see anyone in the room. There's no one on the offensive side of the ball that's like grabbing the bull by the horn and saying, we got to figure this shit out.

Speaker: We got to pull it together. Like Drake's not that guy. Drake's got some swagger, but he's not the guy that's going to like rah-rah pull everyone together and say, get your shit together. Like he's not screaming at guys on the sideline like Brady would do. Diggs would do that.

Speaker: He's not angry like that. He's not that's angry. And that's the part that I look at where I'm like, I'm mad that we didn't keep a guy like Diggs because all it would have cost us is money. That's it. We had plenty of cap space. We had plenty of opportunities. Like he didn't overlap a role that we were trying to do with Dobbs or with Brown. Like he was easily going slide into the slot position.

Speaker: and go out there and perform and if we needed to give him some reps and help develop a guy like kyle williams to hopefully develop then great but if kyle williams didn't develop at least you had freaking digs there on a one-year contract that it would have just cost us money so that's the one that pisses me off the most not booty but when it comes to the weapons like i said I just don't think Josh is utilizing them like they should. I still have confidence that Dobbs could be a good wide receiver for us. He showed it in the offseason. We saw it all in the you know joint practices. The guy has skills.

Speaker: We're just not using him. The question from old man mob for 659 on YouTube opinions of people saying variables treating me like a kid instead of treating him like an NFL QB who's going to year 3. Do you want to answer? s new yeah Yeah. So I actually, I know why variables doing that and I agree with it because you're not trying to like evoke like, um.

Speaker: competition, you're not trying to evoke like more like attention to detail from May. He's pressing, right? Like he's clearly trying too hard. So you got to calm him down, right? Like that's what ah that's what a good coach does. He's like, you got to read the player. Like he's clearly, everybody says it. He's in the he's the one of the first guys and he's the last guy out, right? Like he clearly puts in the work. He's clearly trying really hard. He really wants to win. He works very hard. So when a player starts – you know, when the results aren't there and they start kind of getting a little bit rattled, like you got to calm him down. That's what he's trying to do. He still, is he's not excusing it, but Rabel's trying to be like, you know, if you hammer him more than like you, you have, you could crush him, right? Like you could crush whatever confidence he has left. like Well, certain, well, certain personality types, right. As we know this, right. Like certain personality types respond to different types of leadership and, and,

Speaker: Motivation. Right. So there are some people, especially two different types of people. Right. So some people, the more you berate them and the more you hammer them. um Thanks, bud, for tuning in. um The more you break some people, the more you hammer some people. OK, they some elevate to the occasion.

Speaker: OK, pressure. translates into elevated performance, right? Increased pressure, increased performance. You have a positive correlation, right? Tom Brady is the most perfect example of this. The more intense the pressure and anger and everything gets ramped up and everyone's mad or mad at him or his coach is hammering him, Tom Brady's performance goes up perfectly with this. He gets more angry, more motivated. That's what made him a psychopath. OK, he's a psychopath.

Speaker: We watched him for 20 years. Be a psychopath. OK, now, Drake May. i don't know that yet. Maybe maybe variable thinks he's the player that the increased pressure equals decreased performance.

Speaker: Maybe that's who he is. Maybe that's what Vrabel thinks. Maybe Vrabel should ride him harder. And Vrabel's like, Dre, fucking figure this shit out. Stop fucking up. Stop turning, putting the ball on the ground when you run.

Speaker: Stop throwing picks in the red zone. Right? Like, I don't know his his coaching strategy is clear. Like Drake put his hands on his shoulders. You're all right, buddy. Chill out. Right. Instead of being like ramp ramp, like Brady's on the sidelines, screaming at Billy. Oh, they're yelling or or Josh, they're screaming, they're jawing. Right? So you got to figure out obviously how to coach these guys.

Speaker: What's going to increase their performance. Cause like right now, whatever's happening is actually not working. It's not increasing the performance. Drake's not making better choices based on the coaching they're doing. Right. And like, especially just the carelessness with the football. Again, the last seven games, he's had like 16 turnovers. Okay. That's not a sustainable number. And that's a good sample size. It's half an NFL season almost. Right. So,

Speaker: You to the point where they have to figure out how they're going to actually be trying to coach this kid and what's going to improve their performance. Because this point, like i said, we're three games in the season. They're one and two. The season is not nearly over.

Speaker: They're looking down. Buffalo on the road. We all think they're going to lose. yeah Most everyone thinks they're going to get killed. I can't think of a better opportunity. I tweeted this one out, too, like, This is a fantastic opportunity to see what they're all made of.

Speaker: what What are you made of? Can you come? Can you show up? Can you put on a – Buffalo's defense is a little soft. They're not that good. That's a mid-pack defense. You tell me Drake – and Josh has been in the league for how long?

Speaker: He can't figure out how to put points up? They're getting under 10 points a game on offense in three games. there There's more talking' so much here about them fucking collapsing. Sorry. don't you go for it, Brett?

Speaker: Yeah, well, I mean, i would say, yeah this is the opportunity to turn it around. If you look at it from a positive spin, you would say we were pretty much in the same situation last year going into Buffalo.

Speaker: Coming off of Pittsburgh game, we had five turnovers. We lost to the team that we shouldn't have lost to. were one and two, and then we go in there and we somehow surprise everyone and and win. in Buffalo. So there's a chance that we could respond and we could be that team.

Speaker: The problem is, is there's just a different feel on this team than there was on that team. And when you talk about like their approach with Drake May and Rabel basically going in there and saying, it's all right, bud, we still have confidence in you. Like you just got go out there make plays.

Speaker: Do you think the play calling matches showing confidence? Like, do you think they're putting plays out there that says we're confident in this kid to figure it out? I don't.

Speaker: Again, how many two-run options on a play action and then everyone back that you're just like, what is he supposed to do? Like, what is he supposed to do here to try to create something?

Speaker: And so, like, I look at it and say, if you have confidence in the kid and you trust in his ability, then let go out there and fucking play. Let Drake be Drake. Like, just let him ball. They don't do any of that stuff. They just sit there and they're like, nope, nope, we're we're struggling right now. We can't figure things out. So we're just going to run the most basic run-style plays that we possibly can. I mean, Dundera called it out afterwards. We're running a fucking high school offense.

Speaker: against Seattle. And I, I was a little bit more defensive of the Pats back then, but he's right. I mean, we're just so vanilla and the play calling doesn't support showing the kid confidence. It doesn't support anyone's confidence. It's basically saying to your team, guys, we think you all suck. We don't think you guys are competent enough players to be able to figure this one out. So we're just going to ask you to do the most basic shit and hope it works.

Speaker: And it's just not. Snooty said it well, though. When we first came on, Snooty said it well. And he goes, it's like top down broken, the offense right now. It's not just like – it's hard to have like – it's not just one cog being out of place. It's top down broken. There's – between the play calling, between the pieces in there, between the quarterback not trusting, they actually have gotten – I think they're 12th in the NFL in yards per drive.

Speaker: which that should actually encourage some people. They're 12th in yards per drive. Like they have occasionally moved the football, yeah but they are horrific at points per drive. Like they've had a ton of drives and they can't score and they make the dumbest fucking turnovers.

Speaker: Like again, unforgivable shit. And like the last game we talked about coaching, like, They were seeing this shit on the radio today. Like, are they focused something wrong in the locker room? Are they like, where are they mentally? Where are they? Cause like ka Kyle Williams, I mean, can we go off and Kyle will like that kick return when in your, when in your life,

Speaker: Have you had someone boot a kick that's a laser going straight out of bounds, and he borderline went to make a catch on it and just ran out at the 12? Snooty, riddle me that has that. Have you ever seen that one?

Speaker: um Not from players that lasted very long in the NFL. I mean, that's like the dumbest that that's the dumbest shit available. Like, like they – They're just broken. they don't They don't do anything well. The only one who plays with any level of consistency, and I'm taking a victory lap on this one, is Will Campbell.

Speaker: He's actually looked good. done really well. yeah He has. And Vera Tucker's looked pretty good. that That's about it on offense. And Raritan when he's not hurt, you know, when he's out there. Hunter Henry looks slow and disinterested. Like, Moses is starting to look his age. Right guard. I think Moses is really injured. I think Moses is genuinely out there. think Like, his point's pretty bad. Yeah.

Speaker: But, like, you can't put – Lomo came in and struggled. You can't put Lomo at right tackle. yeah And then they didn't put Ben Brown at right guard. and my And live, my initial thought was, well, he's probably the only other center, so they don't want to, like – But then they're like, no, he's worked at left guard and center. I'm like, so if Veritaker went down, he's going to go in?

Speaker: He's a fucking better right guard than Walter Rouse. Yeah, but you could flip Veritaker to right and put Ben Brown on left. Like, I think maybe they considered that. I think there's there's some options there. Right guard is fucked right now. Don't even do that. Just put him at right guard. If you can play left guard, you can play right guard. Yeah, I hope.

Speaker: The question from George Lobo is different. Kick setting and tackle is like a thing. i want to address this. Question from George Lobo on Twitter. Do you see them benching May if he doesn't do well? Here's the deal. Okay. And talked to I know like, what was this? A talking point with Dundero to online. I love Dundero. Dundero is like, always he's going to the next, the next step immediately. He's like, they got to bench him. You know?

Speaker: Okay. I'm just thinking again, rationale wise, how does benching Drake may help? ah football team, how does benching Drake may help Drake may less. You're just convinced in year three, you're going to sit them for a while. Like what quarterbacks through history has that ever worked with? Like what good starting QBs through the history of the NFL have you decided to sit in year three and then they turn out to be a really great NFL pro. I can promise you, I don't think it's happened very often. So to me,

Speaker: Oh, yeah. I meant to gra i remember this. The best comp there is and there are some there are some comps. OK, the best comp there is for what drs Drake's happening right now is Ben Roethlisberger year three. OK, Ben Roethlisberger started year three with zero TDs and seven interceptions.

Speaker: and had a tough go in year three, like 23 picks, but he already had a Superbowl one in like 2005. The next year after that, he won the Superbowl in 2008. And obviously ended up having a really great career statistically thrown a, you know, Antonio Brown. And like, they had great seasons there. And obviously they didn't make it past, you know, the Ravens and obviously the Patriots and stuff in the 2010s, which was a really difficult, really difficult decade in the AFC of the incredibly tough teams in the AFC. But like there are comps Peyton Manning struggled early in his career too, to get going. Like Trevor Lawrence, the guy we just saw, he struggled a bunch through a ton of picks and a lot of really bad decision throws. So it's not, it's truly not unprecedented that a quarterback will struggle

Speaker: Not everyone just has a perfect trajectory to their career. Right. Like it just doesn't happen that way. So I think you you truly can hold hold out hope a little bit and say, this is our off patch.

Speaker: What are they what are they going to do to improve the team in the short term? I'm not sure what they do right now. I truly don't know. And here's another person. Dougie fresh said drew breezes. Another one. Like there are a lot of quarterbacks that have had random again, year two, year three, where they do have step backs and they have throw a lot of interceptions, make a lot of bad decisions. So, but I want to know now, like what, what helps now, you know, what do they do now? How do they improve the team?

Speaker: It's not just like, um, a confidence factor. Like Drake has to start throwing to other people. He can't just stare at Matt Collins. Pop Douglas still has to learn how to like sit in his own. It makes no sense. I don't see that route where Hunter Henry ran up a seam and pop Douglas is like standing next to him. I'm like, well, is that, and I assume that's pop. That's not the fucking design.

Speaker: So is that pop Douglas who just ran the wrong combo route and just ran into Hunter Henry? i mean, who's that the studio? Whose fault is that? I mean, just knowing the profile of the two players, I'm guessing that's Pop Douglas because Hunter Henry may be slow, but the guy can beat zone. He is fucking slow. He can beat zone. That's just experience and like that's all that is. I mean, the short answer is...

Speaker: and mean I mean, don't really know. Maybe they switch it up. They go gun a bit more and they, you know, run some stuff out of that. Maybe some zone read just to kind of get his legs activated a little bit and kind of freeze the, you know, freeze the pass rush a little bit. I'd like to see them use zone. They got an athletic offensive line that can move. Like if you can't move people off the ball, then you get them moving laterally.

Speaker: Open up holes and gaps that way. Like that's – I want McDaniels to adapt and his his scheme, quote-unquote, and like the plays to the personnel that he has. like Instead of trying to square like jam this square block into a circle ah tur hole. like this is It's just... I don't...

Speaker: It's so frustrating to watch, and this is not a new complaint. He's done this before. We've had this complaint with with McDaniels before, but he got away with it because he had Moss or Gronk or, most importantly, Brady. So he could get away with all that shit.

Speaker: But you can't do that but like this. you You just can't. You need to help your players out. Well, and that's what it is. i mean how many times did we hear through the years where it's just like this is such a difficult offense to learn and why receivers struggle, and some of them couldn't figure it out?

Speaker: And yeah, you're right. You were able to get through that because of Brady. Put anyone else around, it was because of Brady. And not only like was it Brady's ability on the field, but it was also how he would help his team off the field and tell them how to play things and how to you know understand where he wants you to be on the routes and how he wants you to be, etc. He was just unreal when it came to that level of stuff.

Speaker: When you look at guys that are on this offense, yeah, like you you have to like dumb it down for guys like Kyle Williams, guys like Pop Douglas. You can't sit there and go out there and say, hey, i need you to do a zone zone read route. Like it's just not going happen. They're not going to figure it out. But you can still put them in a position to be able to execute.

Speaker: Like you can still be in a position to be able to put him out in space and be like, Hey, I have this really shifty wide receiver. Who's probably going to be able to beat his guy. If he just does a quick, like out quick slant, whatever, like he's shown that ability, but you just won't do any of that stuff.

Speaker: you're You're not being creative to put these guys in positions. Not every offense you look at and say, oh, that was just a wide receiver that read the zone, sat when he was supposed to and and played it well. Like, you know that teams are playing zones against Drake right now.

Speaker: draw plays up that allow your teams to get open and sit into the spots of the zones without having your wide receivers have to figure out and have like, Oh, you have used three options to figure it out when it's like, well, Drake's not trusting the situation right now. And your wide receivers aren't reading the zones correctly and not understanding the plays correctly. So don't do that. Stop continuing to do stupid shit.

Speaker: Yeah. but That's what i mean about. We talk about the scheme being such a focus. I mean, like it is scheme too. It's not like, People who watch the tape are like, this is not a dynamic offense. i mean, literally watch it and you're like, you truly, it's not a dynamic offense, which is a great segue.

Speaker: I'm not a professional of this. It's a great segue to Boston Ding Dong, our guy Boston Ding Dong here, who said, AJ Brown going down fucked us. It'll get better. And there's there's a lot of truth to that. I just hate, though, just saying it as if like a carte blanche,

Speaker: excuse like um yeah obviously like being without aj brown is a massive deal there's no there's no two ways about it he's a he's an incredibly talented player but he also brings like juice to your locker room and leadership like that's fucking aj brown and then that frees up romeo dobbs and all of sudden you're like it cooks but man it just shouldn't look this bad without him like that's the problem right you can't just go from it's not like with aj brown they score 30 a game Without A.J. Brown, they're scoring under 10.

Speaker: um So Tilly said, how are you guys not focused on the Sox? I'm sorry. We are. We're watching the game. It's in the background. Baseball is different. You can have baseball on in the background. We've got to go through the Pats, digest the Patriots from this weekend. We've got to go through it.

Speaker: um So thank you for for tuning in, Tilly. I appreciate it. um I'm hoping Peyton Tully has a great great game and out-duels Schlittler. Although Schlittler, a big Pats guy. Just saying. And someone said, because Drake May is my life. Thank you. um And most people on here follow us for Patriots stuff. So, but, um but yeah, so long story short though, again, it's like when you're game planning for the Patriots, right.

Speaker: And Adrian Brown's out. So let's say Adrian runs out of there. It doesn't feel like a hard team to game plan against right now. Right? Like, who are you taking away?

Speaker: What defenses you have to but It seems like it actually seems really easy. Like, we can't run the ball. We just run it straight up the dick of every off offensive lineman, straight down the dick to get 2.5 yards of carry.

Speaker: get third and long, and you play like a cover two zone shell and just get pressure with four. It feels really simple, actually, every game. i Watching the same fucking movie all over again.

Speaker: I do love the every game tweet that we get from Bryson with the hat halfback dive right at the middle. Yeah, halfback dive play. I mean, yeah, it's true. Yeah, it treats to that, yeah. Like, I sit there i go to myself, man, wouldn't it be great if they came out in the first down and they did a play action?

Speaker: Wouldn't that be so great if they actually did something as elaborate as a play action on the first down? But nope, nope. We need to go ahead and we need to run it because we don't want to put ourselves in a position where we're doing anything complex or something that's going to put us in a problem. It's just ridiculous. So...

Speaker: Yeah, i I would say i agree. You can't lose a guy like Brown and then say the whole team is lost. Like there's enough pieces on this team they should be able to figure it out. yeah And, again, we talked about the trust piece. Like this is not the first year that Drake is throwing to guys like Pop. This is not the first year that – Kyle Williams has to start figuring his shit out. Are we dumb with the are we done with the Pop Douglas experiment? No.

Speaker: I mean, are we like but this is the whole thing that I look at, and I'm saying to myself, like, if you were done with Pop Douglas, if you're not going to, if you're going to keep hanging on to Chisholm as this guy, but then never do anything with him, if you're going to draft a guy like Kyle Williams, I mean, this was the first game where he had over 20 snaps prior to that. Again, only had 23 snaps for the first two weeks of the season. Like, you're not playing the guy, so you invest a high draft pick on a guy, and you're not even playing him.

Speaker: Like, then why are you letting a guy like Diggs walk? Why aren't you going out there to try and find more opportunities to get other guys in there to try to fill in the void? You clearly felt like these guys had it, but like, do they?

Speaker: I don't know. so I'm just letting digs walk. It's letting it's trading booty. I mean, you had a guy who he trusted. yeah And we all said it at the time. We're like, oh, that's a weird trade. Like I said, and everyone thinks I like hated booty booty. Isn't like the most talented receiver in the world. But I said before, before the season, was like, I wouldn't trade him. I would keep booty. That's good insurance. Like clearly Drake likes to throw to booty. Like booty would have had five catches a game right now.

Speaker: Like he'd at least Drake would trust to throw to booty. You know what i mean? We get that right now. Like Kyle Williams has no fucking idea where he is. Okay. Okay. He doesn't fight for comebacks. All he can do is run a goalball.

Speaker: Pop Douglas always seems to not be able to connect with Drake and is in the wrong place and doesn't run the right route or sit in the zone correctly. Okay. Romeo Dobbs is that is gone somewhere in the ether. I don't know where Romeo Dobbs is.

Speaker: Presuming he's open maybe more than we're letting on and Drake doesn't look at him. i don't know. just I mean, he's the only guy you got and they're just not putting him a position to... Romeo Dobbs is out somewhere.

Speaker: But yeah, like what I think Romeo Dobbs will improve a lot when A.J. Brown's back. and he't He's had a couple of good plays. like He's had a good hot route where May's rolling out and all of a sudden he realizes he's the guy that's got to go high and then he's thrown over the top like he did it in the Pittsburgh game. like He's made big plays And he's had big moments. So, like, I don't think Dobbs is as bad as people are making it out to don't think he's bad. I think Drake doesn't look at him.

Speaker: I think there's a difference. You know, like, I don't think he's bad. And again, I think it's also part of the fact that he's getting, like He's getting pressure up the right side. Like, yeah, I think the offensive line by and large has been better. And the left side's definitely holding their own. The right side a real problem right now. So he's getting a high pressure rate. It's also up to center. Wilson was very up and down this last game. He had some good moments. He also had some really bad freaking moments. So I would say the right side up the center has been problem. It's forcing rush. So then he doesn't have those options to be able to get it out to a Dobbs. And then I will say, you know, losing a guy like Raritan has been a problem.

Speaker: Like that has definitely been shouldn't be. But it shouldn't be. Do you know what mean? Hunter Henry is clearly like – Bro, people killed me. Hold on. People killed me for this. And this one's – Before I addressed Kyle Williams' point, and I said this multiple times on the podcast, I've said this – And like, I'm wrong. This is not me saying I'm right all the time. Everyone knows I'm wrong frequently.

Speaker: Okay. And I try to pump up players who I want to succeed. I try to pump up Jalen Polk and Javon Baker. But when they redrafted them, I was like, yeah, let's fucking go. Cause I'm a fan. I'm excited.

Speaker: Hunter Henry They gave him an extension because I was looking at his contract and I was like, I was like, he was getting a lot of money and I couldn't imagine him being here. Like all sudden I'm thinking, I don't know if he's going to be here next season. He's a cut candidate. Right? So then he gets the extension. You're like, okay, he's here for at least this year and probably maybe one more year and then the out.

Speaker: But now you're watching him and everyone's starting to see like, Oh, like he's running like a, like a four nine 40. Like he's, and he's not like you see Raritan and you're like, wow, he moves well.

Speaker: Like he runs well. He's and blocking better than people think. Like we were on the Hunter, trend Hunter Henry agent train, earlier people just see the name right and it's true that's a good point um ding dong is who you're gonna cut him for that's a great point they didn't they had julian hill and they were there two tight ends were gonna be they were gonna have three tight ends they're gonna have julian hill Hunter Henry and Raritan this season. That was going to be at the season. And this was going to be Henry's last season until they extended him. That would be two seasons. And then he'll probably be done. um Unless, again, truly he's slowed down so aggressively and the team just says, hey, we can't we just can't play you next year, which is possible. I mean, it's possible that they're like, this contract, we're not going to – because he looks so incredibly slow.

Speaker: I mean, it's it's like you know Travis Kelsey has slowed down. But Kelsey is so savvy. I forget who brought this point up. Maybe it was Zolak today. I forget who it was, but he was saying that how come Henry can't fit into this Kelsey role where it's like the savvy tight end vet who you know exactly where to sit, exactly how to use leverage. It's just, it's not working, right? It's not, it's not happening.

Speaker: Right. So that's what that's, that's bothering me a little bit. Right. So I want to see that the Kelsey role right now from Hunter Henry, no, he's not the same guy, but you need to have that savvy, that role, find ways to get open. And he's Hunter Henry's just straight.

Speaker: He's not doing that. He's not doing it. No. So like, like I said, I do think Raritan's a problem being out, um you know there were talks that he'd be back for the bills it was probably contusion now obviously he's got a personal matter you know wish him the best but you know we'll see what happens i think wait when we get him to come back yeah rip 100 uh rarin that's very very sad he lost his 20 20 week old um so very very sad so that sucks Hopefully he's... We'll see. I mean, wish his family the best and hope to see him, you know, in better spirits soon.

Speaker: But I think he's going to be a positive boost when we get him back out there. And we'll see. Hopefully we can get Brown out there soon. So I think to bring it back to the beginning, Snooty was basically doom and gloom in saying that he's super pessimistic about the entire outlook of the season.

Speaker: I'm not. Like, I do think on offense, like, I just can't imagine... that what we were able to produce last year just doesn't exist anymore. Like Drake may is never going to figure this out. He's never going to be able to come back to form. And he's just somehow now of a sudden, like he's just totally lost.

Speaker: It's I just don't see that happening. I think he's going to figure it out. And he's shown flashes of figuring it out. Like he's been put in bad situations and he's found ways to dig himself out of it. And as you said, like we have been able to move the ball at times. It's just,

Speaker: We're having a problem when it comes to red zone and he's forcing it like he's just forcing it. So that's what's causing those situations. But it's going to come back. It's going to happen. It's going to start clicking. There's just too much talent for a not to question here. Doug fresh on YouTube. What's your thoughts on Cam Latu feel like he wasn't the best this past weekend.

Speaker: i don't think anybody was the best. I think, you know what I mean? It's hard to single out Cam Latu. like I know a lot of pods, we're just ranting and organically, obviously, just talking about the game, which is what we like to do. Some people break it down into more segments, right? Catch-22 today, they're like, the good, the bad, and the whatever. like Everyone's got their own little segments, three up, three down. like This is like the radio whatever. like we're just doing a live stream. You know, we're trying to we just want to shoot the shit with people and talk about the game. Right. But if you want to break it into buckets and you want to say good versus bad bucket. Okay.

Speaker: um theyre I'm hard pressed to find people to put in the good bucket. I mean, i was first specific specifically, if we're talking about the offense, know, It gets very hard to find a good bucket.

Speaker: Okay. um I would put Will Campbell in the good bucket other than having a really difficult mashup with Josh Allen Hines, who who's excellent, really excellent.

Speaker: And had a couple reps where, you know, he got beat around the corner, quick reps, but Drake rolled out the other way. but So the Josh Allen Hines thing, again, would I put him in the – Will Campbell in the good bucket? Yes. Elijah Vera Tucker, he was pretty solid too. Yes, good bucket. Jared Wilson was fine.

Speaker: <unk>d say Again, I'd put them in like the mid-bucket. Like that's fine, and this is me reaching, but it's just the left side of the line. Then you could borderline go in every single other position, okay? Every single – I don't put any receivers in the good bucket except Matt Collins, who there's by necessity they're just – Force feeding the ball to.

Speaker: Okay. No one else. um You know, that tight ends. No, no one. Cam Latu. Henry. No. The running backs were atrocious, I thought.

Speaker: Atrocious running the football. Travion Henderson. was atro Not like they're asking him to do anything incredible. He was atrocious. Right? So, yeah, I think there's, to me, the the good bucket on ah offense is few and far between. And you're just going to start with the left side of the line. i don't know. Reggie Gilliam, does he contribute to this team?

Speaker: Does he contribute positively? We talked about a fullback. Yeah. what has he done? Right. If you want to go in defense and say the good bucket, I think ponder and Akis, I'm really happy with right now. Although it's hard for them to get a lot of pressure. Ponder has been really good.

Speaker: He's playing really well. To be honest, if you got a good, if you got a player with ponder, you're really lucky. Cause, cause that's a great UDFA hit. Akis too, man. I thought Akis just his run stuff, man. Like he's got some instincts and he's a dog, man. I like Akis a lot.

Speaker: He, he had a the fullback or I thought it was a pull pulling player coming at him. He got a, Quick wrong arm, got inside him and single-handedly blew at the play. And that was a gorgeous rep. So if you're a football fan, Akis is doing some shit against the run, which is tremendous. And as soon as he develops um a pass a pass rush, he's going be a good player, man. So i'm I'm really high on Akis. um christian ellis is playing well spleen didn't have a very good game um christian gonzalez is it's still just excellent every single fucking game he's excellent so you could put him in the good bucket so there are players you could find in the good bucket but it was really when everything fell apart like milton williams not happy about i mean he's getting doubled a lot but he needs to be better christian barmore got hurt a little he needs to be better um But there's a lot guys there, right? And there's and you can you can start to place them, obviously, on how how you think they did. But sorry, we had a lot of questions here.

Speaker: Let me see this. All right. This is going to get addressed at some point. And and if the Patriots keep losing, this is going to be all anyone fucking talks about, okay? is The question from the man on X says, when are we finally going to admit the Diana Rossini situation distracted the football team the reason for disastrous opening?

Speaker: I'm not blaming the opening on Diana Rossini and Vrabel. I'm blaming this on the offense being completely incompetent. And largely that's orchestrated and organized by Josh McDaniels and controlled by Drake Mann.

Speaker: So not Mike Vrabel. Like, yeah, Vrabel's in charge. We're like, we're on the football. Or yeah we need to do this heavy package. Or like helping out. But I don't – like the defense and Vrabel's bread and butter had a pretty effing good first couple weeks until it just fell apart this week.

Speaker: Right. So to me again, like I'm not just going straight. We're seeing you know what I mean? um Put differently. if Yeah. If that really distracted the players so and the coaches so badly that that's why they're playing and performing this poorly, then.

Speaker: Like they're not players who should be around here long-term anyway. Yeah. Like, okay. Yeah. No, I know your coach was embroiled with shit. Like that means you don't like what fucking train in the off season. Like, yeah. I mean, how many, play books in training camp like how many scandals did the Patriots have when they were winning yeah all the time and they didn't give a fuck and they just kept winning.

Speaker: Right. It was more fuel for Brady getting mad. Brady's like, oh everyone hates me. I need to win four more Super Bowls now. Like Brady is a psycho. Again, it's a different, it's a different dog.

Speaker: um Yeah. But on. What does it say? Fire Josh McDaniels, blah, blah, blah. Yeah. I mean, again, I, i mean, we've been on it. It's just like, you know, we're talking mostly about the, ah cause we're talking about the negative. This is what people want to vent about. Again, there, there are some positives. I thought the game just like the game just fell apart on them. Like almost like it would have been closer, but,

Speaker: The momentum, this, this is the hard shit to quantify the emotion and the momentum of games like Drake may, It looks like he's he's about to rip one of Kyle Williams up the sideline on a goal ball. Williams is great. I think that's a touchdown. And if someone clipped and goes, that would have been picked.

Speaker: Don't think so. I think that would have been a beautifully placed ball. And he happened to have like a tiny speck of blood on his hand and it slips and then the game's gone. It's like shit like that. It's just not it's not going their way right now. so And then the game dissolved right and slowly deteriorated.

Speaker: as it went, but like they're down, was that a half, like 14 three or something. you know, the game's not over. It only really fell apart when, when Drake's other terrible interception and stuff like that. So. Yeah. But it felt over.

Speaker: Yeah. i felt over. Cause the offense is anemic. Well, i had I still had hope. I know you guys had basically written them off at that point. I didn't write him i didn't write them off. I've just been waiting. was snoody Snooty basically called for a ball game by the end of the first time. And I was right, to be clear. You were right. that's i had a I had a little bit of faith. And I will say – I think the defense, they did okay in the first half. like they weren't They weren't that bad in the first half. I thought they did ah had and some good plays, were able to make some good at you know containing the Jaguars. Jaguars' offense is no joke. i mean that is a That is good offense. They have good weapons. Liam Cohen's obviously a good coach from an offensive standpoint.

Speaker: Local guy, UMass kid, shout out there. But i mean he's clearly doing something right from Jacksonville on the offensive side. And then our defense good coach. And then our defense couldn't get any breaks from the offense because it kept turning the ball over or losing time of possession. And then they were just like, this game's over.

Speaker: So they weren't able to do anything after the fact. And and credit where credit's true. Trevor Lawrence. did make plays like he was making plays under duress guys right up in his grill and he's making a great throw. Like you can't fault the team on how they played from that standpoint. So I don't think our defense is like totally concerning.

Speaker: There's times where it's concerning, but I think overall the defense is in a good place and I'm, I feel confident in them to be able to figure things out at points in time. Like I don't think Buffalo is just going to steamroll us.

Speaker: And the problem is, is I think we're going going to give the ball to Buffalo a lot. So I think it's going to be a problem if our defense doesn't contain them. But I think they'll do well enough to keep Buffalo in check from putting up like over 30 on us. But what's your score prediction? Might as well do it now. What's your what's your prediction?

Speaker: ah I mean, i still don't think this is necessarily a get-right game for the Pats. I think i think we're going to lose this game. But I do think we're going to start to get ourselves a little bit more settled offensively. I'm going to have the Bills probably winning this one Okay. Stoney?

Speaker: I was going to say 24-21 Buffalo. um Sneaky, the Patriots actually match up okay against them defensively. Because like they should be able to wipe out every receiver that Buffalo has.

Speaker: Now, Dalton Kincaid. I see that. That's going to be a fucking problem. Kincaid's going to be a problem. And obviously Cook's going to be a problem. And Allen, it's just going to be a problem in general. but They're going to run the fucking football. Yes. But I think it's, look, it's a division rival, like rivalry games, like weird shit happens. Like we've split with Buffalo every year for a while now, which makes no sense because they've been pretty fucking terrible, but they still split. It's like, we always used split with Miami, even though Miami was God awful. They'd win two games a year. And one would be against the Patriots. Made no sense, but it just kind of happens.

Speaker: Yeah, well, i geez, I hate picking against the Patriots. like It's almost like feels wrong. um I would say I'll pick the Bills to win this week, which is like hurts my soul.

Speaker: um And I'm hoping that the Patriots have a crazy, amazing response just in just to to spite me. um I'll take the Bills like 30 to 20. um I think Alan cooks and I think they're going to run the football. And i don't know.

Speaker: um Yeah, i don' i think they're just going to i think they're going to pound the rock. and i think the Patriots have problem. Daquan Jones is going to have to play a bunch and and clog the middle. like Again, we're back to like they didn't pay Kyrus Tonga.

Speaker: Why didn't they fucking pay Kyrus Tonga? I mean, what a mistake that was. I mean, we're talking these little ticky-tack bullshit things. Like, you have a player who works really well for you. don't need to load up. And then they let Tonga

Speaker: For not paying him, it was something over like 70 grand or something. It was something stupid. Bedard had claimed he had the story. So um that again, to me, it just absolutely, you know, that bothers me. But I think they're going to get run on. And geez, I hope they have a good game plan for Josh. You're just playing, just man up everybody. Just say Carlton Davis, man up.

Speaker: Christian Gonzalez, man up. And just just play fucking a ton of press man and be like, beat us that way. Because otherwise, if you sit back and zone, and just let them run the football. like you're gonna play it You're not playing a too high shell all game against Buffalo. You're going to get fucking steamrolled by Cook in the backfield. so Can we please just put Gonzalez on DJ Moore? Yeah, just blanket. See you later.

Speaker: Why were we not, why were we being cute against Seattle and not just saying, Hey, Gonzo, go take out JSN. Like, why did we all of a sudden move them off of JSN at times? Like, let's just not be cute. Let's just go out there and be like, we're putting our best against your best. And our best is going to take your guy out.

Speaker: Cause he's shown that he can do that. He's done it time and time again. like, I don't understand why we wouldn't line him up against Parker Washington and be like, take Parker Washington out of the game last week. We didn't, I don't know why.

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know. But they do play a lot of man. And the Patriots, their defense does well when they're in man. They're a high man team, and they do well. It's not the same as, like, Jacksonville or the Steelers where zone all game. Like, they do pretty well in man, and they have good corners. mean, Carl Davis is healthy. So I mentioned Davis in the chat. Yeah.

Speaker: Like Carlton Davis ah played tremendously against like those, those bubble screens. Like he was fantastic. He's made some great plays coming up to like, he knows what he's doing and he's a pretty good cornerback when he's healthy.

Speaker: Like I don't mind Carlton Davis at all when he's healthy. Right. but And like, you know, Marcus Jones gets bodied a little sometimes and gets out physical and that's going to happen with a small guy, but the secondary, I'm not mad at the set. Like they've played well. It's just when the game falls apart.

Speaker: And every single play they're running for seven yards. And like, this is the fear. If you get against Buffalo and, and they're just pounding you and it's like six yards of carry eight yards of carry, then you're in trouble.

Speaker: You know, you'll be in trouble and you're going to give up a lot of points. So they're going have to like, They're going to have to put a lot of guys in the box. You're goingnna have to have not just a big too high shell all fucking game.

Speaker: Like this will be the game plan. And they're going to have to figure this out. Like go copy what the Chargers did. Josh Allen just turned it over five times against the Chargers and they still won. So don't know. There's a lot there.

Speaker: Yeah, and further, if you allow the other team to shorten the game by running the ball, that puts added emphasis and pressure on your offense to score on the few chances that they they they will have.

Speaker: And yeah that's not a position you want to be in right now. i mean, I don't think it's wild to say that this game completely determines how the rest of the season goes. And I'm not even saying like you can lose. If you lose like in a good game and you go into Buffalo and you show sparks of life and like you know you battle it out and you come up short, all right, I'm not going to kill you for that. But like if you go in and lay an egg, like good night.

Speaker: Just pack it up. we just Just go back to Drake. He just needs to not make colossal poor decisions. okay When he's throwing, when he's confident, the kid rips it.

Speaker: He's got to be fine. I trust the kid. I think he's going to be really good. i think they need really good coaching. I think they got reel him in whatever the fuck's going on in that locker room, personal life. I don't know what's happening in his personal. Maybe his personal life's fucked up. I don't know what's happening. All I know is like when he is confident and ripping it, that kid fucking cooks. And that is the player we've seen. And when he's allowed to do that, his shoulder's fucking fine.

Speaker: I don't get this game playing about the shoulder that he's doing in the media too is weirder to me. Just say, I'm not injured. It's really simple. They say something wrong. He's like, well, you know, it should have like, that was a whole weird dialogue. Just say, I'm not injured.

Speaker: My shoulder's fine. It's pretty easy to be like, my shoulder's fine. Did they push him back and maybe he feels like it's fucking with him? Well, this is again, like, so okay. The presumption Normally how it goes, you hurt your shoulder. They come to you. They say, hey, do you want to scope it?

Speaker: Do we want to do a surgery? Maybe he says no. And then he says, let's do it conservatively. And then maybe now it's barking at him a little. Like it could be something like that. Like he should he now he thinks he should have had one. so But this would be ridiculous if he's already – he's a smart kid. Is he already setting up? the prospect of like, he might have to be out cause his shoulder. Like, I hate this shit. Like we shouldn't even be focused. Just go fucking play football, dude.

Speaker: Like go, your shoulder's fine. Like he's not getting treatment for a shoulder. ah According to again, Bedard saying people in the organization are like, I don't know what he's talking about. So who's setting up this thing that there's something going on. Who's, who's narrative. This is his team, his agent.

Speaker: Being like, hey, we need a narrative out there. You're not right because you're getting killed and this team sucks and you have no weapons. Like, I don't know whose fault this is, but it's bizarre. Just say my shoulder's fine if it's fine.

Speaker: I'm not injured. There's lots of words you could use to convey to people you're not fucking injured. Okay? So I don't know what's happening.

Speaker: that's a I don't put a ton of stock into that. and i just think it's just more of a mental side of where he's basically lost right now. and He's trying to figure it out and doesn't quite understand. So he's just searching for answers and just fumbling over his words. But Again, i don't i don't think it's an intentional thing where he's trying to do it to create excuses.

Speaker: People are i think are jumping on it. I just think he's fumbling over his words because he's just not. don't think he's fumbling. i don't. I think he's too careful because he got asked again to today or yesterday again about it on the radio and was asked to clarify. He's like, you said this. And he's like, well.

Speaker: ah You know, it it should be about 100%. You know, like he was leaving almost like purposeful language, leaving Rome to say like, well, I didn't say I'm not in like, it's very easy to say I'm not injured.

Speaker: It's really simple. My shoulder's fine. I'm not hurt. I'm a hundred percent. There's many ways you can say it. So to me, that is purposeful. It's more trying to figure out through the weeds.

Speaker: Why is he doing it? Is somebody advising him to do it? Is he actually injured? You know, there's things like that. It brings up a lot of questions. Again, like and then we can we can end this, but Kevin Stone, who's a Patriots reporter slash repeat reporter, a BC guy, he was saying how they had like ah like a player meeting, I think. He didn't specify, he said like a player's held a meeting, a 45-minute meeting by Kevin Bayard being a leader. There's a leader who's like about holding each other accountable for for mistakes.

Speaker: And man, that's, you're three games in having a player meeting. What does that tell you about where you are? It's never good. There's never a good time. buying gar So what nudie what's going on in that locker?

Speaker: I don't know. I mean, i don't know if people reading, you know press clippings coming off the last year. People got complacent or there's too many new faces or too many of the wrong faces that, you know, either stayed or left or came in or whatever. um It's never a good sign.

Speaker: i mean, we were talking earlier about tell me when you if you bench a quarterback, how many come back? Like, tell me how many teams have a players only meeting and come back and have, you know, a very successful long playoff run. Right. Like it just doesn't happen. It's not a good sign at all.

Speaker: Yeah, it's really it's really bothersome to be honest. so and We'll leave it at that because i mean i feel like we just need more intel. and If they get their doors blown off against Buffalo this week, this is going to be skies falling shit and you're going have a lot of stories leaking at some point. Someone's going start talking, probably players you know because the organization doesn't talk. Josh doesn't talk. Vrabel doesn't talk other than to Rossini. We're going to start doing shots of that until they start winning and fucking football games. um

Speaker: Not really. I probably won't tweet that. But ah but yes, basically, they' there people are going to talk about what the fuck's going on at some point if people are off. and And again, did they put in the work? Did they do enough? And why are we why are they having so many problems? So, right, I'm gonna end it here. We'll go watch the Red Sox and hopefully um they can, you know, figure this shit out. And the offense has unfortunately been atrocious for a month. So let's see. Let's let's go Red Sox. So. so All right. Thanks, guys. Peace.

Speaker: Peace.
