Speaker: before we get started just to set the tone.
Speaker: Especially for the Mega Man 2 episode of this.
Speaker: Exactly.
Speaker: It really sets the tone.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But, you know, it always sets the tone.
Speaker: What's that?
Speaker: Hey there, everybody.
Speaker: Welcome back to Pixel It.
Speaker: It's the audio version of being goosed.
Speaker: Every time he does that.
Speaker: My name is Kevin, alongside with me is Phil, and today joining us to talk about Metal Gear, the worlds of power Metal Gear's Jesse Garacia from, well, you know him from a few places, including the Noclip podcast.
Speaker: Jesse, what else do you do?
Speaker: You're an editor for- Too much.
Speaker: I don't sleep often.
Speaker: You don't sleep often.
Speaker: That's the one thing you might know me from.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm an editor for Matt McMuscles on YouTube.
Speaker: Do the what's it called?
Speaker: The What Happened series?
Speaker: What's it called?
Speaker: Like I don't do it every week.
Speaker: I worked with Rasbutin for a good while.
Speaker: Another video essayist out there.
Speaker: Had my own channel called Chadunda.
Speaker: Don't look it up.
Speaker: And yeah, I think that's it.
Speaker: Oh, no, I'm working with...
Speaker: Brendan James right now on blowback for season three and doing some assisted assistant editing on that one.
Speaker: So, yeah, like I said, too much.
Speaker: I need to suck down some coffee.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: All the things.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And so today we're talking about Metal Gear from the world's esteemed Worlds of Power Collection, which is.
Speaker: created by our good friend, friend of the show, Seth Godin, who... AKA FX9.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: So, primary thoughts.
Speaker: How are we feeling about this book?
Speaker: How did it strike you?
Speaker: Before we get into the blow-by-blow... Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: What stood out?
Speaker: Jesse, why don't you start with this one?
Speaker: Sure, it was bad.
Speaker: That's my first thought on it.
Speaker: I mean, I said it before we started recording this.
Speaker: It's a lot of words in sequence.
Speaker: You guys were talking about this on the first episode that you did with Scott, and I mean...
Speaker: This this feels like someone was just doing a let's play and just wrote down everything that they went through in the game and tried to give it a narrative that it did not have.
Speaker: And it turns out the narrative they gave.
Speaker: It's pretty, pretty mediocre, pretty like not fun, not good.
Speaker: The first thing that stood out to me, I know we'll get to it later, but I have to.
Speaker: I just I can't get over it.
Speaker: It's the Gaddafi thing.
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Sorry, I'll let us get there.
Speaker: But that's just stuck in my mind.
Speaker: Um, Phil.
Speaker: I think, I think, I, I, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: This is still, I think right now for me, uh, is, is not as good as Ninja Gaiden.
Speaker: No, Ninja Gaiden is the top.
Speaker: Ninja Gaiden is a number one on the worlds of power list.
Speaker: And I think it would take a lot to dethrone Ninja Gaiden because it had a coherent plot from beginning to end.
Speaker: No, but I think I will say the stuff that was made up, you couldn't is so weird and over the top that it's not like Hideo Kojima couldn't have come up with some of this stuff anyway.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: So yes, but I'm not the Metal Gear guy like I don't I don't know very much about that franchise.
Speaker: I know, Kevin, that you've got you've got your handle on that.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean I played I played the first three When I say first three I'm talking about the solid once it gets solid That's what got you in a yeah, hey snake solid solid things speaking of snake men No, right let's talk about the snake man.
Speaker: Yeah
Speaker: Let's just you know what let's let's let's talk about let's just start at the beginning so chapter one we get we get a bold proclamation of Solid Snake's name being Justin Haley.
Speaker: Justin Haley?
Speaker: Come on.
Speaker: What what really?
Speaker: What kind of name is that?
Speaker: Justin.
Speaker: Justin.
Speaker: He is not a Justin.
Speaker: No offense to my Justins out there but I know a good Justin but like come on I don't trust a Justin to invade a military base under any circumstances.
Speaker: No no.
Speaker: You trust Justin to bring you like a six pack of beers at 10 p.m.
Speaker: and he's drinking one of them.
Speaker: Justin's on a skateboard bringing me a pack of Reds.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: That's all.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: And he calls your mom Ms.
Speaker: K or whatever.
Speaker: But he's totally hitting on her at the same time.
Speaker: Oh, absolutely.
Speaker: The older he gets, the more bold he is.
Speaker: Your basic Justins are your poochies of the friend group.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Silent Snake is not a poochie.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: You sure?
Speaker: No.
Speaker: I mean, from this, this is the novelization.
Speaker: This is a very poochie novelization.
Speaker: But yeah, so his name is Justin Halley, and we've already lost 15 snake men.
Speaker: Snake men.
Speaker: These are the tops.
Speaker: The top of the Marines are the snake men.
Speaker: who are also Foxhound members, but also snake men.
Speaker: And I know like we got a lot of animal references here.
Speaker: It's a big animal.
Speaker: Some.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's like someone argued with somebody else.
Speaker: They're like snakes are cooler than foxes.
Speaker: Fuck you.
Speaker: Foxes are cooler than snakes.
Speaker: And they're like, guys, guys, we can have them both in here.
Speaker: Let's both be bad.
Speaker: Let's use them both interchangeably.
Speaker: And that won't be confusing at all.
Speaker: No, no, of course not.
Speaker: No one's going to have a problem with this.
Speaker: All these group names won't blur in your mind by the end of this very long book.
Speaker: So he's he has a meeting with with with General West and Commander South.
Speaker: And they're like, you know what you got to do?
Speaker: Solid Snake, Justin.
Speaker: Justin, you gotta go take down Colonel Vermin Katafi.
Speaker: Like didn't even try.
Speaker: Didn't even try to not have that be Gaddafi.
Speaker: Like, could you at least do something with the letters there?
Speaker: Oh, and here's the thing.
Speaker: Let's say that you don't know who Gaddafi is.
Speaker: Let's say you don't know.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's still Katafi.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like the evil villain that is the most scary terrorist in the whole world.
Speaker: His last name is Katafi.
Speaker: What is this?
Speaker: Willy Wonka?
Speaker: Fuck off.
Speaker: C-A-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A-F-I-S-T-A
Speaker: uppercase T, Katafi.
Speaker: C A, is that it?
Speaker: That's a really good point.
Speaker: How do you even?
Speaker: C, uppercase C, lowercase A, uppercase T.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: Taffy.
Speaker: I don't.
Speaker: Which, of course, in whatever remote, you know, terrorist country he's from means son of Taffy.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: Of course.
Speaker: That's why he's.
Speaker: I hate that.
Speaker: I love that, but I hate that.
Speaker: That's really good.
Speaker: I think that's the only appropriate.
Speaker: You nearly got me with a spit take.
Speaker: I almost almost got me with this.
Speaker: So sorry.
Speaker: He's Taffy, but like he's not from Bibi.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Right?
Speaker: Like wouldn't that make sense?
Speaker: If you're gonna drive home the Gaddafi thing, why wouldn't he be from like, from Bibia or Ribia?
Speaker: No, he's from, they mention a fake country in there somewhere.
Speaker: Neuron or something dumb like that.
Speaker: And they, yeah, and it was, the writing, I was like, this,
Speaker: Nouria, which is, which is a, which is listed as small, but incredibly wealthy and savage desert.
Speaker: And I was like, Ooh, I'm sure that has no ethnic implications.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: 1990 comes from beer rack.
Speaker: Yeah, exactly.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: That's.
Speaker: Hmm.
Speaker: Noria.
Speaker: This is very sure.
Speaker: Noria, at least is kind of like that's they just made up a word.
Speaker: They couldn't do that with Katafi.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I don't.
Speaker: People are going to lose the threat.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Those kids aren't that smart.
Speaker: We want them.
Speaker: We want them to hate Kadhafi as much as we do.
Speaker: Kids are watching the news.
Speaker: But his golden guns are so cool.
Speaker: They are.
Speaker: Let's be fair though.
Speaker: They are.
Speaker: Let's be fair.
Speaker: Qaddafi's gold-plated handguns fucking slapped.
Speaker: They were.
Speaker: That is my hot take of the day.
Speaker: The only thing I like about this dictator is, yeah, he had some sick ass guns.
Speaker: If I had to like one thing about a benign of dictator.
Speaker: You had his eulogy.
Speaker: You got to fake it.
Speaker: It's like, man.
Speaker: Insert that drill tweet where it says, you in fact do not have to hand it to him.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You turn into crank the racism crank.
Speaker: You're like, which way?
Speaker: Yeah, where do you want to stop?
Speaker: You in fact do not have to hand it to him.
Speaker: So they break down his is the mission which is you have to you have to get into outer heaven and Find dr. Petrovich his daughter Ellen and the Metal Gear That was really good.
Speaker: This is
Speaker: This is my favorite part, by the way, because it's like now we find out that they're going to try and screw over our good buddy Justin here.
Speaker: We know that that's happening.
Speaker: But I love our intelligence sources have hinted at something called Metal Gear.
Speaker: What Metal Gear is and when it's scheduled to be launched against us, we don't know.
Speaker: We don't know what it looks like, whether it's airborne or how it's armed.
Speaker: We don't know how or even whether it can be disarmed.
Speaker: We presume it's controlled by a hidden supercomputer and then it carries nuclear payload.
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Why do you assume that we didn't?
Speaker: It's like they didn't finish the game.
Speaker: And they're like, I'm pretty sure this is what Metal Gear is.
Speaker: It's probably a nuke thing.
Speaker: You're going to go on a date.
Speaker: I don't know what his name is.
Speaker: I don't know how tall he is.
Speaker: I don't know what a color of hair he is.
Speaker: I don't know what his favorite movies, his hobbies are, where he works.
Speaker: I assume that he's Iranian.
Speaker: And that, and that he has, and that he buys his Metro cards by the month.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Hey, whatever.
Speaker: Oh, this poor guy.
Speaker: He's just trying to be a terrorist and you're just, you're putting him down, all right?
Speaker: They can assume that he's doing all these horrible things.
Speaker: He's a terror man.
Speaker: He's a terror man.
Speaker: He's a terror man.
Speaker: Oh my God.
Speaker: What we are sure of is that Metal Gear is the most powerful and evil weapon ever devised.
Speaker: This book does that a lot where it's like, we don't know what this is.
Speaker: We don't know who they are, where they are, but we know exactly what's going on.
Speaker: I don't know who he is, but tell him to get that mole on his upper left shoulder.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And Justin's just all about it.
Speaker: He's all about it.
Speaker: Chapter two.
Speaker: He's the best soldier.
Speaker: Chapter two, mission accepted.
Speaker: He is.
Speaker: He's right off the bat.
Speaker: Sir, yes, sirs himself right through chapter two.
Speaker: And we get.
Speaker: Oh, this is my favorite part about chapter two, by the way.
Speaker: They just throw this in.
Speaker: They say, they're talking about Ellen, Dr. Petrovich's daughter.
Speaker: We don't know whether she's alive or dead.
Speaker: If you find her alive, she may be of help with her father.
Speaker: Try to rescue Dr. Petrovich too, but if you can't, you'll have to kill him.
Speaker: What?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like, why don't you just do another mission?
Speaker: Like, what?
Speaker: Just leave him there.
Speaker: It's okay.
Speaker: You have two options, rescue or murder.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: At one point they're like even in chapter one.
Speaker: They're like, I don't know We can't make you do this snake that you have to accept that you have to volunteer for this make it motherfucker.
Speaker: This is the American military, right?
Speaker: Yes, they can That's this is this is what they're talking about when they say that the army's too woke guys We can't force men to murder
Speaker: That just wouldn't be PC.
Speaker: And then we get into a conversation about who are the snake men.
Speaker: And we're like, I feel like this conversation should have happened already.
Speaker: Yeah, this should have happened already.
Speaker: But there's a breakdown of like the snake men don't officially exist.
Speaker: But I thought they were called, I thought they were originally called Foxhound.
Speaker: And we're like, no, it's snake men now.
Speaker: We'll call them Foxhound later.
Speaker: It's like a garage band that keeps changing its name based on, it's like, no, man.
Speaker: Spitfire is totally not cool anymore.
Speaker: We got it.
Speaker: We got to go with with metal oblivion now.
Speaker: That's cool.
Speaker: We're still going to use the printouts that have Spitfire because that's the most up to date information for our show next Thursday.
Speaker: They can't read the logo anyways.
Speaker: It's just a bunch of random shapes.
Speaker: It's fine.
Speaker: We only and we only have the one cover of something in the way by Nirvana.
Speaker: So I don't know if it's going to make a difference.
Speaker: Bring it back for the Batman movie then.
Speaker: I may have been in a high school band called Spitfire.
Speaker: Oh, gosh.
Speaker: So, yeah, they're going to they're going to Haley is just a
Speaker: Haley is just a diversion apparently and they're actually gonna there's gonna be a full regiment of Marines doing the real attack and and Haley is just supposed to be in there setting off alarms and causing all sorts of trouble but he doesn't know that and he's listening to Jennifer no he's listening to Diana there's also Jennifer and at this point I'm like I don't know what having a stroke feels like yeah
Speaker: But yeah, no, I'm with you.
Speaker: I have a feeling that it might be this last few paragraphs.
Speaker: Even when they try to explain what Jennifer's about, it still makes no sense.
Speaker: Like it's so convoluted.
Speaker: Why are you doing this?
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Why would you even have another person also?
Speaker: Whatever.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Why are Jennifer and Diana spelled with all caps?
Speaker: Is that an acronym?
Speaker: Why is Diana's boss man?
Speaker: What is that about?
Speaker: Where did Big Boss go?
Speaker: We're just throwing Big Boss out.
Speaker: We're swapping in Boss Man, but that's also Jennifer.
Speaker: Chapter three, getting in.
Speaker: Getting in.
Speaker: Oh, now we're getting to the good shit.
Speaker: So Silent Snake gets in there and he calls the colonel and he says, Colonel.
Speaker: You're so good at that.
Speaker: I'm trying to sneak in, but the clap of my ass cheeks is alerting the guards.
Speaker: I'm dummy thick.
Speaker: I'm dummy thick, but the clap of my ass cheeks is alerting the guards.
Speaker: Do you moonlight as Damon Hader?
Speaker: What's going on?
Speaker: What's happening in here?
Speaker: I figured if we're doing Metal Gear, I'm just gonna try to have my solid stick impression as much as possible.
Speaker: But no, he gets in there and he, Jesse, you were talking to me about this before Phil got on.
Speaker: What does he do other than basically sex panthers himself?
Speaker: That's exactly that's exactly what he does this whole book is solid snake cosplaying as a panther Or not even cosplaying RPing.
Speaker: He's like straight-up role-playing a panther It's amazing.
Speaker: It's the whole book.
Speaker: Yeah, like he nails it.
Speaker: He's really good at it like scarily good at it He keeps bringing up his snake man training.
Speaker: Yeah, okay Okay, so you're at the Chippendales and you're in your US.
Speaker: You're your your panther practice.
Speaker: All right, just live with it Be honest with yourself.
Speaker: Yeah
Speaker: He rubs himself on a tree to pick up panther musk so that.
Speaker: And it's and it starts with one of the most.
Speaker: And we've already like you said, we've already run into some confusing sentences in this book.
Speaker: We've got his nose wrinkled.
Speaker: Solid Snake recognized that smell.
Speaker: Panther musk.
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like, why did he recognize his snake man training?
Speaker: What do you mean?
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: We all read the book, right?
Speaker: We will find out later that he hears these people talking in a foreign language that he doesn't even have a in.
Speaker: He has no idea what they're speaking.
Speaker: He knows like 40 languages.
Speaker: They're like, he knows like every language.
Speaker: It could be Farsi or Portuguese as far as he's concerned.
Speaker: And, but he knows what Panther Musk smells like.
Speaker: Don't you worry.
Speaker: Don't you worry.
Speaker: He is very familiar with Panther Musk.
Speaker: 60% of the time it works every time.
Speaker: Every time.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Oh man.
Speaker: And he gets, yeah.
Speaker: And he gets chased down by a bunch of Dobermans and yeah, Jesse's absolutely right.
Speaker: He like gets down.
Speaker: He literally gets down on all fours and starts hissing and yowling like a cat and the worst Dobermans ever.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like they're murder dogs and they're like, oh boy, I haven't seen a human before ever in my life as a dog.
Speaker: We weren't ready.
Speaker: We weren't ready for the, they got, they, they ran because they just got weirded out.
Speaker: They're like, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: What happens if I eat this guy?
Speaker: What's going to happen to me?
Speaker: What's going to happen?
Speaker: Is this some sort of like mad cow rabies type of thing?
Speaker: Oh, he's one of those humans that got fed other humans.
Speaker: He's not.
Speaker: He's not doing so.
Speaker: He's got the prion.
Speaker: I read about that.
Speaker: And yeah, if I don't get the vaccine within 24 hours, it's actually really dangerous.
Speaker: It's very dangerous.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And he.
Speaker: And by the way, you know, they're throwing them under the bus.
Speaker: And I think my favorite part about they sent him with nothing.
Speaker: They said, we can't send you with anything.
Speaker: But this compass is a super compass that has a microphone and a transponder and all that shit.
Speaker: And what they don't tell them is there's no mic.
Speaker: They can hear him, but he can't hear them.
Speaker: And he spends like two or three times this chapter just taking the compass and going.
Speaker: Can anyone hear me?
Speaker: Is anyone- He's talking- He's talking to just a regular ass compass.
Speaker: I just- I just imagine all the people back at HQ going, look at that fucking idiot!
Speaker: You look so stupid, Solid Snake!
Speaker: Fucking moron!
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Oh, he's so stupid.
Speaker: You were right.
Speaker: This is a good idea.
Speaker: This is smart.
Speaker: This is-
Speaker: Give him the, make him think that the compass is the tracker.
Speaker: So that'll distract him from the actual tracker.
Speaker: The compass doesn't even work, right?
Speaker: It doesn't do anything.
Speaker: It's just a compass.
Speaker: So why even give it to him?
Speaker: Like what does he feel better?
Speaker: You already have the tracker on him.
Speaker: Why did you give him another thing that he'd be like, well, this is the tracker.
Speaker: He spends a long time talking into this thing and not getting as much as the word boo.
Speaker: He's really concerned about the compass.
Speaker: And for a snake man,
Speaker: for a snakeman man who snakeman man who is so highly trained you would think he would be able to like figure out direction without a compass you know you think he'd be like one of those people who'd be like hmm that's that moss is growing on the northern side of the tree and right and i'd be like hello compass
Speaker: find out we find out that lots of basic military shit that any infantryman would know he has no comprehension of.
Speaker: But he knows how to speak dog in like 40 languages because that's how it works.
Speaker: Dogs just respond to words.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And we have another just I'm going to keep a list of these.
Speaker: Maybe we'll share them on social media.
Speaker: Just a list of the most
Speaker: bizarre lines in or out of context.
Speaker: And one of my favorites here is his canine vocabulary would be of no use here.
Speaker: He had only seconds to spare.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So he can say halt sit in German, Russian, Swahili, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and a dozen other tongues.
Speaker: Irish, Gaelic, Hindustan, whatever.
Speaker: Whatever.
Speaker: He's got it.
Speaker: But no, he's anyway, we're in chapter four now.
Speaker: He's he he figures out the dogs and pretending to be a cat a big cat and By the way, and now he he knocks out a guy who is already sleeping Our hero solid snake everybody
Speaker: Oh, I love this.
Speaker: Oh, the next part.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: So basically, he just so.
Speaker: So, OK, so he knocks out a guy who was who was already sleeping and he finds a guy, another guy who is who is who is pointing gun at him.
Speaker: And then he he he CQC's that guy down and he decides not to take the gun because there may be metal detectors on the way into the outer haven, outer heaven compound like.
Speaker: The thing that catches his eye is the card key.
Speaker: And these goddamn card keys.
Speaker: Oh my God.
Speaker: Really, this was my favorite part of this entire book.
Speaker: Was when he would get the key cards.
Speaker: Just made me laugh every time it happened every time every and every time in my head the little Zelda dadada played Oh, yeah, of course Oh, yeah, he we get we get yeah, we get the this
Speaker: We get a lot of random shit in here.
Speaker: And then, yeah, it comes to he finds some field rations and it says they may be packed with densely with nutrition and vitamins, but they taste like a cross between cat food and an old rubber tire.
Speaker: And speaking as someone who has eaten MREs from that time period, he got everything right except for the nutrition and vitamins part.
Speaker: They are garbage.
Speaker: I don't know if they might be better now, but back back in the late 80s, early 90s, they were they were fucking terrible.
Speaker: So so Phil grew up as an army brat.
Speaker: And yeah, OK.
Speaker: And I was in a Boy Scout troop that was an army Boy Scout troop.
Speaker: And it was that's like that's like double nerd.
Speaker: It was it was double militant is what it was.
Speaker: Double militant.
Speaker: We were we were the militant Boy Scouts.
Speaker: It was really weird.
Speaker: The early all of our all of our troop leaders were Vietnam vets and and kind of shaky.
Speaker: And we would and we would go and I like camping.
Speaker: We go camping, but we brought MREs for like at least one meal a day.
Speaker: You'd eat MREs and you got to know the ones like the one that I kept getting, which was just disgusting, was a
Speaker: chicken a la king, which is just chicken and vegetables and stuff in this horrible red sauce in a bag.
Speaker: And sometimes you put you just like put it next to the fire, like in the vicinity of the fire to warm it up.
Speaker: So it's like a pace.
Speaker: What do you just like?
Speaker: Like it's a gogurt.
Speaker: You just suck it out.
Speaker: snip off the edge of the plastic thing.
Speaker: Is it like that episode of The Simpsons where Homer finds like starts compressing everything down into a bar and he kind of takes like a pound of spaghetti and meatballs and he turns it into like a bar and he eats it in one bite.
Speaker: And it was not unlike that you would be the it would come with it.
Speaker: There was sometimes like a dehydrated peach bar and it was just like a light styrofoam block of dehydrated freeze dried peach, I'm assuming.
Speaker: And one of a couple of us got the bright idea to put it in our in our water and our canteen mugs to like get some to rehydrate it.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And it was it just was disgusting.
Speaker: We just took it off to the edge of the woods and dumped it.
Speaker: We were like, fuck this.
Speaker: Far's bad.
Speaker: Water's bad.
Speaker: And then you got the tiny little thing of Tabasco and those became souvenirs.
Speaker: You just line your window with these tiny Tabasco.
Speaker: They were adorable.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: I had a weird childhood.
Speaker: It sounds fun.
Speaker: I mean, in like a weird, gross way with the tube of chicken a la King.
Speaker: It was it was gross.
Speaker: It was really gross.
Speaker: I wonder if any of you are old enough that you remember that very specific thing.
Speaker: Please reach out and we'll start a focus group.
Speaker: I thought you were going to say like a suicide pact, but that's true.
Speaker: Why not?
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: And then we come to we come to this, the beginning of what I like to call the beginning of Solid Snake's paranoia.
Speaker: This man is so trained that everything is is deadly.
Speaker: He finds a pack of cigarettes.
Speaker: It says, could they be poisoned?
Speaker: His instincts told him that they could be a deadly trap.
Speaker: And I was like, no one knows you're there.
Speaker: They're just having us like they are deadly.
Speaker: Don't get me wrong.
Speaker: As a former smoker, they're not good for you, but not in the way you think they are.
Speaker: Well, so they even say that later in that same paragraph, like even if the cigarettes contain no added poisons, they were deadly enough of themselves.
Speaker: He decided to leave them where they were.
Speaker: Yeah, they want to remind the kids at home.
Speaker: Yeah, don't smoke, kids.
Speaker: Just like Solid Snake.
Speaker: Which is hilarious because the cigarettes are something that you... Yeah, it's like a mainstay of the series.
Speaker: It's a mainstay of the series, and it's something that you use to solve a puzzle, I think, in the first Metal Gear game.
Speaker: I think you there's a scene later in the book where he lights a match.
Speaker: Yeah, this is a match in the game.
Speaker: You use a cigarette to do the same thing.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: Colonel.
Speaker: Oh, my cigarettes are cool.
Speaker: Yeah, it does make me think, though.
Speaker: And Kevin, you'll almost certainly.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: And then later he picks up the matches.
Speaker: I just wanted to go.
Speaker: Oh, no, the matches are poisoned.
Speaker: My instincts were wrong.
Speaker: No, but the old arcade games back in those days used to open with a like.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Like the PSA, like like winners.
Speaker: They opened they opened with two things.
Speaker: One, something from Nancy Reagan saying, don't do drugs or whatever.
Speaker: And the other thing was I think there might have been an FBI warning from from good old attorney general Jeff Sessions.
Speaker: Oh, God, it wasn't until I was I was in my 30s, I think that I watched some video and some guy mentioned those in his YouTube video.
Speaker: And I was like, wow, those really were kind of weird.
Speaker: Like, I just I just that was just part of it.
Speaker: It was just part of it.
Speaker: So we're in we're in Chapter five, right?
Speaker: That's where we're we're going.
Speaker: We're going into he makes his way into the compound.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Did not need to be a whole chapter.
Speaker: No, that's
Speaker: And so chapter five, subtitled level one.
Speaker: I love it.
Speaker: How meta can you get?
Speaker: We get a lot of we get a lot of these chapters end up becoming like he's going down a corridor and he's trying a key and then he goes into a room and then he does this.
Speaker: It just becomes kind of like a play by play of of what the player was doing.
Speaker: That's literally a written let's play like it's so awkward.
Speaker: Yeah, let's play so it's two elevators east and west which I if I recall correctly is kind of like how the map was laid out and There's a he uses a key card to open the door and and he he surmises that only Vermin Katafi
Speaker: himself carries all eight key cards.
Speaker: Ha ha.
Speaker: Actually, no, he doesn't figure that out.
Speaker: That's the author telling us.
Speaker: The author breaks kayfabe for a moment.
Speaker: and turns to the audience and says, oh, watch out, Vermin Katafi has all eight.
Speaker: And then we get a game hint at the end of the chapter.
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: By the way, I love the idea of the eight cards, individual separate cards.
Speaker: Could you imagine if you forgot what card you had to use for what door,
Speaker: And that's part of the gameplay of the first one is you had to constantly swap the cards.
Speaker: The first Metal Gear is basically a Metroidvania and you have all these key cards.
Speaker: And in order to get into certain rooms and certain hallways, you had to go to the menu, equip key card number two, open that door, go through the door, go to the menu, equip key card number three, go in.
Speaker: It was like constantly swapping key cards.
Speaker: So this reflects
Speaker: some of the dumb stuff in the first Metal Gear game.
Speaker: It makes me think because I remember I played a little bit of Snake's Revenge, the second one, but I didn't play much of the NES ones because I remember as a kid,
Speaker: the Metal Gear games were kind of this anomaly for me and a lot of other kids I knew because it was like, oh, you can't just like you don't just barely in killing everybody and shooting everybody.
Speaker: You actually have to be quiet at times.
Speaker: And it was just it was over our head.
Speaker: It was it was for the older kids as far as we were concerned.
Speaker: Yeah, it was too snake.
Speaker: This is a sneaking mission.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: As as as we all know, in in in chapter six,
Speaker: We're in chapter six now.
Speaker: Salad Snake has a gun.
Speaker: Finally.
Speaker: Finally.
Speaker: I've been waiting.
Speaker: He's got a gun with no ammo.
Speaker: And he is not going to use that gun until he later when he sees mutated scorpions that I don't even think are in the game.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's like, let's just drop a contra enemy.
Speaker: I was just going to say, that's in book.
Speaker: That's got to be like, like Seth or somebody in the team was like, are we going to make a we're going to make a contra book, right?
Speaker: They're like, no, contra didn't.
Speaker: We didn't come through with contra.
Speaker: Like, fuck it.
Speaker: Put put put a contra monster in Metal Gear.
Speaker: I don't care.
Speaker: It's the one I like music now at it.
Speaker: Oh, God.
Speaker: So he finds Chuck Robinson, a snake man and a good friend.
Speaker: What is with these names?
Speaker: It is Justin Halley, Chuck Robinson.
Speaker: They have very, what's the name of that old NES baseball game with the made up names?
Speaker: It has like, oh God, I gotta look it up.
Speaker: Are you talking about all-star baseball or?
Speaker: Also are bases loaded?
Speaker: I don't remember.
Speaker: I only ever played RBI baseball.
Speaker: That was the only one.
Speaker: It's like names like Steve McDyckel or something.
Speaker: I think, oh, wait, isn't that the one that like the Japanese were like, come up with Americanized names and they were like, okay.
Speaker: And they just did their best.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Here we go.
Speaker: Here we go.
Speaker: I found them.
Speaker: Slev McDycle, Onsen Swimi, Daryl Archideld, Anatoly Smooran.
Speaker: Archideld?
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: What game is it?
Speaker: Ray McSriff.
Speaker: Oh,
Speaker: It was a fight.
Speaker: It was called fighting baseball for the SNES.
Speaker: That one I didn't play.
Speaker: That one I don't know.
Speaker: The famous one from that list is Bobson Dugnut.
Speaker: Yeah, Bobson Dugnut.
Speaker: Benched right field for Milwaukee because of course.
Speaker: Oh my God.
Speaker: Doug nut.
Speaker: Doug nut.
Speaker: So, uh, snake rescues Bobson, Doug nut.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Dobson, Dobson.
Speaker: It's me.
Speaker: Hallie.
Speaker: We got Dobson over here.
Speaker: Uh, see, no one cares.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: God, this is we're going to hit an all time high reference point of this episode.
Speaker: And he warns them about the terrible burning from the from the heat.
Speaker: Yeah, the vents, the panels, the other panels, panels on the ground rations.
Speaker: Yeah, you got to eat the rations.
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: In any context, when have you ever had to eat something to up your body temperature?
Speaker: so that you don't burn.
Speaker: I'm sorry.
Speaker: Did you not fool your mother into thinking you were sick by eating extra breakfast in the morning to up your body temperature?
Speaker: I never had the rations like you did, so I never got to have the experience.
Speaker: Are you still heat proof from having those rations?
Speaker: You have too many rations and it doesn't work anymore.
Speaker: Yeah, it turns off.
Speaker: It's like resistance.
Speaker: It became a problem.
Speaker: It becomes a problem.
Speaker: You're chasing that.
Speaker: I'm basically a reptile.
Speaker: I have to lay on a rock chasing that heat resistance.
Speaker: Phil's geothermal.
Speaker: Fucking MREs, I swear to God.
Speaker: But the way he's written, by the way, Chuck, with the whole, no, no, you've got to listen to me, the heat panels.
Speaker: And all of a sudden, in my head, I'm filling in the heat panels, Marty, you can't eat.
Speaker: He's burping, he's throwing up blood.
Speaker: Oh, jeez, Rick.
Speaker: Don't try to talk to rations, Rick.
Speaker: Just take it easy.
Speaker: Oh, jeez.
Speaker: So bad.
Speaker: We're just gonna, we're gonna collect a list of, of impressions that we do.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Impressions made in this episode.
Speaker: No cartoon voices were hurt in the making of this episode.
Speaker: There's gotta be a Rick and Morty game book that you guys have to cover.
Speaker: I mean there's the Rick and Morty Dungeons and Dragons.
Speaker: There you go.
Speaker: We could do that.
Speaker: That's actually, that would be a good bonus episode.
Speaker: That would be fun.
Speaker: And then we'll just run one.
Speaker: We'll do a live run.
Speaker: We'll do it live.
Speaker: Fuck it.
Speaker: We'll do it live.
Speaker: So he sees the deadly trap, which is a huge rolling device, a giant steel pin.
Speaker: That's the end of this chapter.
Speaker: And that's just like a random room that you walk into in the game.
Speaker: There's just like this rolling pin moving back and forth, and you just have to walk around it.
Speaker: You can totally see why that would be something that an adult who wasn't necessarily fully versed in Nintendo games would like grab on.
Speaker: Oh, there's a room with a pin that rolls back and forth.
Speaker: We'll do something with that.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, that's that sounds interesting.
Speaker: And and it's just like the most innocuous, like.
Speaker: kids playing video games see that kind of shit all the time like just these right these like little room traps or whatever it's nothing special it's just like oh it's just moving back and forth and you time it and you go um but in this translated from the game something that you get through in five seconds becomes
Speaker: Yeah, it's like it's like if they novelized Sonic the Hedgehog, which they have.
Speaker: I can't wait.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Sonic approaches.
Speaker: It's like he sees it.
Speaker: A ladybug, but not a ladybug.
Speaker: It balanced on a single wheel.
Speaker: It could hear whirring mechanics underneath it.
Speaker: This was Robotnik's ladybug, a lobotomics.
Speaker: That's so true.
Speaker: Like, who wrote this one?
Speaker: Alexander Frost?
Speaker: Yeah, they saw that rolling pipe.
Speaker: Fucking cool name, by the way.
Speaker: That's where Justin Halley, that totally was him.
Speaker: Like, what if my first name was Justin?
Speaker: What would my last name be?
Speaker: Not Frost.
Speaker: Halley.
Speaker: I think...
Speaker: I feel like Justin Halley is the name of the actual author.
Speaker: He wanted to name Solid Snake Alex Frost and like something got mixed up.
Speaker: Something got confused at the printer and they just did a find and replace all somehow.
Speaker: Exactly.
Speaker: Gosh, that's such a bummer for you, Justin.
Speaker: I mean, Alex.
Speaker: Alex Frost.
Speaker: So there's two things that happened in Chapter 7.
Speaker: He gets around the pin and then he solves one of those slidey puzzles, you know, like the little cheap plastic ones where the one tile is missing.
Speaker: He solves that and it's a picture of Katofi.
Speaker: It's a picture of Katofi.
Speaker: You gotta love the branding.
Speaker: You gotta love the dedication to the brand, you know?
Speaker: The puzzle you have to solve is what does my face look like?
Speaker: What does my face look like?
Speaker: The guards have been trained.
Speaker: The guards have been trained on what my face looks like.
Speaker: I mean, I think that might be the most realistic thing.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: I would buy it.
Speaker: A highly narcissistic fascist dictator is like, all right, in order to pass into the next room, everyone has to do a puzzle where it's my face.
Speaker: You have one minute.
Speaker: You have one minute.
Speaker: Get to know my face.
Speaker: Real quick, is that in the game?
Speaker: I don't.
Speaker: So I was skimming through a Let's Play.
Speaker: I did not see it.
Speaker: That seems insane.
Speaker: That doesn't feel like a Metal Gear part.
Speaker: I would have been surprised.
Speaker: I mean, it feels weird to come up with that for a story of just like a thing in either context.
Speaker: I don't know what would be weirder, to be honest.
Speaker: You're right.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, I would I would if if Kojima if that was a Kojima original, be like, I buy it.
Speaker: That tracks.
Speaker: Totally.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But here, I don't know, it does feel weird.
Speaker: So he unlocks another dude and he saves another goonie.
Speaker: And- Exactly.
Speaker: What's his guy's name?
Speaker: Jim Tibet.
Speaker: Wait, are you, no, that's not his name.
Speaker: That's his fucking name, dude.
Speaker: Oh my God, his name is Jim Tibet.
Speaker: How did I miss that?
Speaker: Every name I'm laughing at, this is the best.
Speaker: Jim to bet.
Speaker: Just brilliant.
Speaker: It's just... We get a morsel from Jimbo that Gray Fox is here, and he's still alive, maybe.
Speaker: And Silent Snake is like, can I trust Jim?
Speaker: And this is just a recurring motif of...
Speaker: Yeah, I kind of love this moment personally, because this is a moment that it started to turn for me because in which direction?
Speaker: All that's a fair question.
Speaker: No, Jim says, I have a message for you from Diana.
Speaker: She says, Gray Fox infiltrated the enemy several days ago.
Speaker: They captured him, but he's alive.
Speaker: And I went, wait,
Speaker: He came here to rescue you.
Speaker: Why do you have a message for him?
Speaker: None of that makes sense.
Speaker: And as I'm thinking about it, I turn the page and he says, when did he get that information before he was captured?
Speaker: Could he trust him?
Speaker: Like, so the author asks that question too.
Speaker: And I start to notice throughout the book, the author starts pointing out things that are stupid.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: in the game.
Speaker: And I don't know if it works or not because we're going to see it a lot more.
Speaker: The author is like playing the author is doing what we would have done, playing the video game going, why would he know that?
Speaker: That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker: He's a prisoner.
Speaker: Why would he know anything?
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: And he's picking it apart.
Speaker: And I don't know if that makes the book better or worse.
Speaker: one and i'm like okay good the author sees it too and on the other hand i want to go just go with it is the author going meta right now a little bit this does make you think of like how goof-ass even some of the most you know of that time period some of the most uh highly regarded video games end up sounding when you try to explain them to people like this is totally it's easy to mock it because they're stupid oh yeah they thought about it they thought about the plot and
Speaker: and story elements of this game, there is like, there is no, there is a game that starts with, are you a bad enough dude to rescue President Ronnie?
Speaker: That is the thrust of the story and that's it.
Speaker: That's when games were made in somebody's garage by three high school dropouts and a dream.
Speaker: Like that's so true.
Speaker: It is not the same as it is today.
Speaker: It just isn't.
Speaker: Oh, God.
Speaker: So, so Justin gets a bunch of guns and ammo.
Speaker: I like, by the way, that we're calling him Justin, that we're insisting on not calling him Solid Snake.
Speaker: No, he's not Solid Snake.
Speaker: He's not.
Speaker: Because this is not Solid Snake.
Speaker: No, it's not.
Speaker: This is like, this is like, have you, Phil, you'll probably remember this.
Speaker: You know the other Ghostbusters?
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: You know the other Ghostbusters where there's like, and there was like a gorilla and a, and a car or whatever.
Speaker: And the guy who was the voice of, uh, so Jesse, you seem confused.
Speaker: Is this the real Ghostbusters?
Speaker: Like the animated one?
Speaker: No, no, no.
Speaker: It's not.
Speaker: So the real Ghostbusters had to be called the real Ghostbusters cause there was another show
Speaker: called the Ghostbusters, another cartoon called the Ghostbusters about people who hunted ghosts.
Speaker: And amongst the team was a gorilla.
Speaker: And you're you guys, the Ghostbusters cartoon.
Speaker: I can't even find it because it doesn't even rank but I this is basically Justin Halley Justin Halley is basically that version of Solid Snake yeah
Speaker: He is the animated story version of solid snake.
Speaker: Solid snake.
Speaker: You got him on wish.com.
Speaker: It's by the way, by the way, I've never heard Kevin more like amped and passionate than the moment he said just now, because he's not solid snake.
Speaker: I've known Kevin for over 10 years at this point.
Speaker: We've talked about things great and small, and I've never heard that level of righteous indignation.
Speaker: Because he's not solid state.
Speaker: He's not.
Speaker: We're nearing 14 years of knowing each other.
Speaker: Oh, congrats.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: And finally, you actually get angry like that.
Speaker: It's over this.
Speaker: Finally.
Speaker: Calling.
Speaker: That was the line in the sand.
Speaker: That was it.
Speaker: Solid fake.
Speaker: You've got to find a thing a man cares about.
Speaker: You can't twist a man's arm when he's down.
Speaker: It's just not right.
Speaker: Find a thing he cares about and take it away from him.
Speaker: You get a dangerous man.
Speaker: Oh, Jesus.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And this chapter, and he gets, he gets, he gets, he's got his second key card.
Speaker: We know that he gear horns up.
Speaker: He does the gear.
Speaker: Yeah, exactly.
Speaker: And the chapter literally ends with,
Speaker: him.
Speaker: He's he's got his grenade launcher.
Speaker: He's got a hand heavy bandolier of grenades over his chest.
Speaker: He's got guns.
Speaker: He's got knives.
Speaker: He looks like Lincoln Zelda 64 when he's just armed to the little of the fucking teeth.
Speaker: Now he looks like a fighting man.
Speaker: That is literally how the
Speaker: Chapter 8 starts with Justin talking into his compass like a fucking dumbass.
Speaker: Fucking moron.
Speaker: General West and Commander South.
Speaker: Hello, Control, do you copy?
Speaker: Can you hear me, guys?
Speaker: I'm right here.
Speaker: It's me, Hallie.
Speaker: It's me.
Speaker: It's Justin Hallie.
Speaker: Pick up.
Speaker: Guys, are you mad at me?
Speaker: Are you mad at me?
Speaker: Did I say something wrong?
Speaker: This is...
Speaker: I feel like things were cool before.
Speaker: Where's General West?
Speaker: Is he there?
Speaker: I wasn't serious when I made fun of the last season of Gilmore Girls, if that's what you guys are upset about.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: I really like April.
Speaker: I really like April as a character.
Speaker: She was really cool.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: I think I read on the internet people didn't like it, and I was just trying to get on the bandwagon.
Speaker: I'm not really...
Speaker: I'm just going to go assassinate some people.
Speaker: Bye.
Speaker: I'll call back in a couple of minutes.
Speaker: They're really listening back there.
Speaker: Like, what a fucking dork.
Speaker: I don't even see Gilmore Girls.
Speaker: Screw this guy.
Speaker: I was like, I don't know, man.
Speaker: I feel bad for him.
Speaker: I don't think he's OK.
Speaker: So, let's see.
Speaker: Yeah, he's sneaking around and he finds another guy and his name is Frank Witkowski, which is the most Monsters, Inc.
Speaker: sounding name that this book has.
Speaker: Oh, yes!
Speaker: It totally is.
Speaker: Yeah, wow, Frank Witkowski.
Speaker: Mike Wazowski.
Speaker: Yeah, we're Sully at.
Speaker: We're Sully.
Speaker: By the way, by the way, on the way to finding our latest Snake Man, Justin loses
Speaker: the the compass that he believes is a very important transponder piece of tech.
Speaker: He loses it because he catches his sleeve on a nail that's protruding from one of the crates that he's walking by, and it sends the compass flying and into a trap door and out of sight.
Speaker: And I don't just all I thought was they they spend an entire chapter talking about how this is the greatest member of the snake man that has ever lived.
Speaker: He is live as a puma and and and silent as the night.
Speaker: And it's just it's like he slipped on a goddamn banana peel.
Speaker: Caught on a nail and it's like, yeah, yeah, I've murdered millions and I'm one of the most highly true.
Speaker: You know, 15 men can't do this job.
Speaker: I can.
Speaker: He gets caught on a fucking nail.
Speaker: It's like, it's like he is the most dangerous man alive.
Speaker: And it cuts to him and he's like with cat like tread.
Speaker: Yeah, just going all out.
Speaker: Yeah, just just pirates of Benzans over there.
Speaker: All the way over.
Speaker: Oh my God, this is Jellicle Solid Snake.
Speaker: I just realized holy shit.
Speaker: Oh god damn it.
Speaker: He's on his way to the heavy side there.
Speaker: That's what outer and inner heaven really are We've entered the musical theater portion of the show Jesse I may have majored in theater.
Speaker: Oh I wish I did
Speaker: When you were knee high to a grasshopper.
Speaker: Shut up, Gramps.
Speaker: I'm knee high to a grasshopper.
Speaker: Get out of here.
Speaker: I like it.
Speaker: Phil Grampske.
Speaker: I'm into it.
Speaker: This better not awaken anything inside me.
Speaker: Anyway.
Speaker: Listen, my back does hurt, but I need everyone to back the fuck off right now.
Speaker: Oh, God.
Speaker: So Frank Witkowski gives gives him just the most solid advice you could possibly give a man in just its position right now.
Speaker: You might call it solid steak advice.
Speaker: Yeah, pretty solid.
Speaker: He says, he says the best, the best, the best thing for you at this point is maybe let yourself get captured.
Speaker: I was late on it, but you know, it took, it took too long to load.
Speaker: It's getting, it's getting closer to actually hitting the drum joke on time.
Speaker: Continue.
Speaker: He says, he says the best thing to do is to get captured on purpose so you can infiltrate better and more deeply.
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: That's what it is.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: They do say infiltrate more deeply, which I haven't seen three words in a row that bum me out that much.
Speaker: I feel like we got a wild, I feel like penetrate is going to be in here again sometime.
Speaker: I know it's got, I clocked at least two or three times that they used penetrate and, uh, it's a bummer.
Speaker: Uh, five times they use that.
Speaker: I didn't realize it was so often.
Speaker: See, that's why we had you on.
Speaker: You do, you do the good work.
Speaker: We we we get to now here's here's here's one of the other moments of the author, I think, recognizing this is fucking stupid.
Speaker: And he finds a submachine gun with a full clip.
Speaker: So we get this paragraph.
Speaker: with the Beretta and now the lightweight rapid firing automatic Mac to not to mention the grenade launcher, their grenades and the anti tank mines.
Speaker: Solid Snake was becoming a walking arsenal ready for any fight.
Speaker: But it was also a pretty heavy load for one fighting man to carry.
Speaker: This comes up in the book constantly.
Speaker: The fact that it's like this guy is is like a DM who's asking you every five minutes about your encumbrance.
Speaker: And that is not a mechanic in Metal Gear.
Speaker: I remember that.
Speaker: You just carry your arsenal like any other 8-bit Nintendo game.
Speaker: It's basically the, what was it?
Speaker: The Halo, the Flood moment where there's half a chapter of Master Chief trying to figure out which gun to take because he can only carry two.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And it's just we don't need to complicate this more.
Speaker: The kids aren't worried about the encumbrance level of Justin.
Speaker: I don't think you should either.
Speaker: What if he's too heavy, though?
Speaker: Will he be able to stealth?
Speaker: It's like, guys, he's going to he's going to fat roll.
Speaker: And this might be the only time in the entire history of Pixelit where the author adding to the story, it actually kind of diminishes it.
Speaker: Normally, that's our favorite parts in the book.
Speaker: When the author's like, all right, I'm going to add some colors, some stuff that you wouldn't get out of the game.
Speaker: And it's great.
Speaker: It's just you gobble it up.
Speaker: It's so wonderful.
Speaker: And this is a moment you're like, I don't know if we needed this.
Speaker: That's got to be 15, 16 pounds.
Speaker: Doesn't sound like a lot, but it gets really, really, really intolerable after after too long.
Speaker: You do calisthenics.
Speaker: It's a fucking mess.
Speaker: It's a mess.
Speaker: It's a nightmare.
Speaker: Hey there, everybody.
Speaker: Tune in next week for part two of Metal Gear.
