Speaker: Hello and welcome everybody to another episode of the Uncommon Wealth Podcast where I'm your host, Philip Ramsey. Today I'm coming at to you with a simple step, a quick one, just something to high level, help you kind of work through things, look at things in an uncommon way.

Speaker: You know how I like to do it. So I heard this saying and I thought I was like, I got to do a podcast on this because it's so good. But the saying was that I heard like, I want to be grateful for a small bite or a huge buffet.

Speaker: That's the saying. And I was like, huh, that's actually really profound. And I feel like it's so much easier to be grateful with the buffet than a small bite.

Speaker: But I think that's the exact opposite. Like when I'm at my most desperate need, I feel like even the smallest things I'm like, grateful for. But when it's when I'm like in this place where I'm getting so many things going thrown at me and there's a lot going on, I feel like sometimes it's harder to be grateful or I start looking at my situation or my circumstances like, well, I wish I could.

Speaker: I want something better, right? Here's another example. If you go overseas at any point to a third world country, the lack of things that they have access to or the things that they have, like even like a dirt floor hut Like these people are joyful beyond we've something we've ever seen.

Speaker: What is that? Because they are thankful and grateful for the small things. The one bite versus the people who have a buffet, who are complaining about what's on the buffet.

Speaker: things like that. Okay. It's an analogy. I get it. You know, I like them, but I think there's something, there's some truth here that gratitude is a choice, not a consequence. It's a choice. All these things, all of our circumstances is a choice.

Speaker: It's a choice of how we're going to look at it, see if we're going look at it uncommon way, or we're going to look at it a very common way. And I think when we surround ourselves with people that are grateful and are thinking about little things that they're grateful for,

Speaker: That just exudes a little bit more thankfulness. So that's the other one. Finding joy in simple things. Man, this is something that I am constantly trying to think about. The joy is in the journey. We've even talked about a podcast about that, but the joy is in the journey. It might not be the end. It might not be the top of the mountain, but the joy jeff just foot over foot looking around, enjoying your surroundings.

Speaker: And then the gratitude fosters abundance. I think there's a lot of that. It's just, are you thankful for the small things? So when the big things come, you are even more grateful. And then stop thinking about what could be better or trying to be...

Speaker: I don't just perfect. ah But just think about the small things. So that's my that's my simple step for you today is look at your life, be grateful for the small things and grateful you know for the for the buffets and the and the one bites.

Speaker: So there you go. hope you don't hope this kind of hits you in a place where you look at your different you look at your day a little bit different.
