gunplacast: hi everyone welcome to another episode of spoil me rotten and this time it's a hot d edition and i have guests with me so so just an overview if you do not want to hear any spoilers about house of the dragon season two this is not the podcast for you turn it off go to another episode that we have on a different topic but today it's all about house of the dragon so i have

gunplacast: Here we have Lynn and Daryl and I'm gonna ask them then have you watched House of the Dragon season 2 specifically not even season 1 but only but you've watched Game of Thrones correct no so if just you do you mind getting spoiled is the question for this episode but
Daryll: and

gunplacast: All right, then that's perfect because right now I think the best source of all our spoilers would be Darryl. Darryl, you've been religiously watching Hathi, am I correct?
Daryll: ah Not religiously, but I have watched every episode that aired out on season 2 so far. so
gunplacast: And of course, season one.
Daryll: And of course season 1, yeah.
gunplacast: excellent so i watched season one and it was a huge cliffhanger the ending is so terrible and like gut wrenching did they do a recap of course and did they do a recap of all the juicy parts of season one when they launched season two because i don't want to re -watch again re -watch the season one
Daryll: oh The first episode came out, the first episode of season 2 came out four weeks ago, so I forgot. I think they did a recap.
gunplacast: Mm hmm.
Daryll: The reason why I couldn't remember is because before it aired, I rewatched season 1 over the weekend, oh, the weekend before the first episode came out, so I'm not sure if what I
gunplacast: Mm hmm.
Daryll: watched was a recap or just remnants of my memories of the entire season.
gunplacast: I see. But did they pick up where the last season ended like in the same year? Because sometimes they jump several years into the future or something like that. Did this happen like right after?
Daryll: Yeah I think they did. Yeah I think they did.
gunplacast: Ooh, okay, because that's interesting. So there's this ah very big cliffhanger, because it's a very big event that happened at the ending of season one, where Reneris was ah devastated.
Daryll: Mmhmm.
gunplacast: So it's like, the the queen dragon is gonna come out. But this is reference to all those who are not familiar with Hot D. And the difference is Hot D is a prequel, right? And it's ah telling about the story of the ter basically the Targaryens where Daenerys' bloodline comes from. Does that sound like an appropriate summary?
Daryll: Yeah. Yeah.
gunplacast: ah You can add more to that.
Daryll: Yuna, I'm not an expert on game. I'm not like a super fan, but yeah, it's essentially a prequel. It's the setting is that HOTD happened like about 176 years before Game of Thrones. Um, and it's the story about how Aegon Targaryen ascended to the throne.
gunplacast: But this is a good different Aegon, not the Aegon in the Hottie. Right, because that Aegon is a wasp.
Daryll: Yeah. yeah Yeah, it's a different Egon.
gunplacast: Sorry.
Daryll: Yeah.
gunplacast: Yeah, because they, um in the family tree of the Tarragarian, since there's so much inbreeding, like they keep naming people um like the third or the second or whatnot. So they keep repeating the names, especially of those who are famous or have a great contribution to the world.
Daryll: Yeah.
gunplacast: So they end up repeating or renaming their children based on that famous person. So that Aegon that we're talking about is probably like the fifth or the sixth
Daryll: I think the second...
gunplacast: the second oh the second Aegon okay because Aegon is one of the most more famous probably names that you would hear as far as ah warriors are in the Game of Thrones franchise but although this is a prequel to Game of Thrones it's not necessarily something like you need to watch Game of Thrones first before you watch it it's like a pre uh it's a spin -off
Daryll: the second...
Daryll: No,
Daryll: no you don't have to. It's an entirely different blood.
gunplacast: entirely, entirely different world. So it's, it's pretty intense. Although I would say you mentioned yesterday, we were talking that it's not as intense as Game of Thrones was, I guess.
Daryll: Yeah, in terms of gore and in terms of people, main characters dying, I think it's less intense.
gunplacast: I think that observation is good.
gunplacast: Yeah.
gunplacast: It allows them certain character growth because they live a longer life.
Daryll: Yeah, they live longer lives here.
gunplacast: Yeah.
Daryll: at At least for now, but we can't really say because HOTD is just on its second season. so
gunplacast: Yeah. So they're coming back for a third, definitely.
Daryll: I'm not sure we don't know that yet. they I know. I'm hoping that it does.
gunplacast: We shall see. what
Daryll: but
gunplacast: I know you've been posting like stories of what's happening with some characters in ah the show, but what would you say is your most favorite part of season two so far? I plan to watch it once this season two episodes are all done, because that's how I do shows.
Daryll: I think my most favorite part is when Allison Teitower realizes that she misinterpreted the request of the king and she couldn't like there's she realized that there's no turning back anymore because wars have been started
gunplacast: Mmhmm. Yeah.
gunplacast: Ooh.
Daryll: um And, you know, that instant regret on her face is something that I think is iconic so far.
gunplacast: I would love to watch that because I feel like ah
Daryll: Have you watched it? Have you watched the episode?
gunplacast: No, I watched season one and I know that she definitely misinterpreted the dying words of the case.
Daryll: Oh, just season one.
Daryll: Yeah, she did.
gunplacast: It was like, it was going to be settled so nicely. They had a family dinner and everything. And that, oh, how can you mess it up so bad?
Daryll: Yeah, exactly.
gunplacast: It's terrible. So are there going to be That's her favorite well -loved characters in season 2.
Daryll: Yeah, I think a couple of deaths have already been made, especially in episode four, which was just aired this week.
gunplacast: Oh, I've seen one.
gunplacast: me
Daryll: It's very heartbreaking, but you know, it happens.
gunplacast: Yeah.
gunplacast: Oh no.
Daryll: main characters died.
gunplacast: I mean... I keep seeing interviews of her, Renice, and his her husband.
Daryll: uh, yeah.
gunplacast: I don't know if the husband dies. Did he already die in season one? I can't remember.
Daryll: no, no. still alive.
gunplacast: But, yeah.
gunplacast: I keep the... I mean, she looks so familiar. Like, I don't know from what other series I've seen Renice. from, but she is very familiar. I think she's a pretty well -loved character because even on Instagram threads, it's all a buzz about her, so we shall see.
Daryll: Yeah, yeah, you should watch it you should start watching it
gunplacast: Oh my goodness.
gunplacast: No, she should watch it. We hope we would entice you in watching it. But yeah, it's not as glory as Game of Thrones, but just as juicy. and And... Oh, I can't wait to see my favorite red flag. it did Damon. Damon Targaryen.
Daryll: Mmhmm.
gunplacast: Oh, I can't wait to see him back.
Daryll: Yeah.
gunplacast: if Do you watch mu um Doctor Who? Are you familiar with Doctor Who? No?

gunplacast: Well, I forgot the name of the star is Matt. He's one of the doctors. He's one of the more favorite doctors of our generation, I think, for Doctor Who. But I can't remember the name of the actor. vis a He's a good character actor, I think. But in any case, it's another story.
