Transcript

Speaker: Hey there guys, this is Bobby still on trek day number one and this is a four -day trek it is about 3 30 in the afternoon First campsite we've had some elevation up and down had a great lunch That was prepared for us. I've gone through

Speaker: My two liter bladder probably had about another half liter trying to kind of sort out what I need for tomorrow. We looked at the map for tomorrow which is day two. That's a beast. That is kind of straight up to the dead woman's pass and then down. That's going to be

Speaker: That's going to be a bit of a beating, if I'm being honest. And right now things are holding up pretty good. As I said, I only train a month for this. I've been doing a little bit of exercise every day. But when I say a little bit, I mean like 15 minutes on a treadmill and I wasn't running, if you know what I mean. And I had a very short runway. And I did a bunch of stairs in a building.

Speaker: probably 30 to 60 floors a couple times a week. Did heart rate monitoring. Got up near a threshold of fair amount and it was tough but I felt good. I didn't have my pack full. I would definitely recommend whatever hike you're doing

Speaker: Try to get your full kit on as far as your shoes, your socks, your pants, your shirts. I planned on using a couple different shirts and right before we left I put on my backpack, my new backpack that I just got and another shirt and I hated the shirt and I hated the backpack so ended up making a last -minute decision to go back to just my regular shirt.

Speaker: And it's a big old three, four day backpack that looks bigger than everybody else's, but it felt comfortable. I lost my chest strap on the airplane. And so if you have anything that kind of pops off real easily, I would definitely suggest taking that off. I didn't appreciate that these things pop off pretty easily. I've taken this on flights multiple times. Never had an issue. I had an issue on this deal.

Speaker: We're here with a great group. We had 11 people. One person had some pretty bad diarrhea and ended up taking the train back. So she canceled her trip. You know, right now I'm doing okay. We are filtering all the water we get. Even the water that we get at lunch in the campsite that's been boiled, we're still putting it through a platypus filter.

Speaker: To me it just made sense to take no chances. So For right now, we're doing pretty good. We're getting ready to get going again here. So thanks for joining the adventure and Get on things and get it going. Thanks y 'all
