This week spills on internet woes, a small world, and Obsession! While we wait for more HHN announcements (of course something is dropping after this episode), Tyler brings us a fun game on Chinese coaster names - how well do you know your RCDB? Plus, a spooky new attraction at Indiana Beach and your questions about upcoming events and HHN.

Transcript

Speaker: Welcome back to Thrills, Chills, and Spills, where we spill the tea on all things theme parks, special events, and a especially spooky season. I'm Tyler. I'm Joey.

Speaker: I'm Kelly. And I'm Rafa. We have maybe a short episode for you today. I know we say that a lot and then go over, but maybe actually short today because we don't have much news to go on. But a couple recaps for some parks, a couple of good questions, maybe a short HHN section. But first, as always, we will start with our spills.

Speaker: Kelly, I think you have a couple. I do have a couple. i have all exciting spills, non-bitchy spills today. So my first and most important one is that tomorrow i am going to be an aunt for the first time.

Speaker: My brother and his wife, who do not ever listen to this podcast, nor do they know it exists, probably, um are having their first baby tomorrow morning.

Speaker: They do not know what it is. Thus, we do not know what it is. And I'm very excited to find out and hopefully meet my niece or nephew soon. That's my first spill.

Speaker: Very exciting. um Number two is that my littlest baby is a big boy. he lost his first tooth yesterday and he's graduating preschool tomorrow. So I am unwell about those things.

Speaker: And my third spill is it is a small world after all. um Recently, I was a guest on Allison and Jen's um podcast episode about um running at parks after I ran at Dollywood. And the episode before me was also about running and they had a guest guest on his name was Chris. And he's like a really fast runner, like really puts me to shame, like ran Boston in like 240, some crazy, crazy stuff and has like won a Disney race and just just crazy fast.

Speaker: And I listened to that episode as I was driving to Allison and Mullet's wedding because i saw her podcast had a new episode or whatever. So I get to our Verbo at in Cincinnati and i am just like scrolling on Instagram and I see that somebody like sent me a follow request and it was their guest that they had on their podcast. So I guess he listened to my episode. I listened to his, Chris.

Speaker: And I'm like, okay, yeah, follow him. He likes amusement parks. He likes running. An hour later, his story comes up and it's like a bib for a 5K, but the 5K is put on by a company that is located 0.5 miles from my house.

Speaker: So I like message him. I'm like, sorry if this is weird, but like, do you work here? and he's like, yeah, I work here. Then I like immediately go on his Strava and all of his runs are on the same trail as me.

Speaker: who That is so weird. oh Weird. Like of anyone, anywhere, like we literally are running past each other. I've probably seen him. So he runs at a pace that does not make sense for me to run with him. But at some point we're probably going to run together. We've been trying to to match it up. I just thought it was a crazy coincidence. That's pretty wild. Yeah. that is's crazy Are you guys going to meet up and like run together anything?

Speaker: Yeah, he um he says that his schedule is like changing or something in June and um he likes to run before work. And and I usually run in the morning. So we'll probably he like sends me his like we he's intense. He's running like his short runs are like 10 miles. So like this is that's the word I can keep up with. But my god it's wild yeah yeah' it's wild. He's like some I he he told me like he went Lehigh's track, which is a college near us um to do some speed work. And I've run on the track before there. But his workout was like insane. And he's like, you could come. You don't have to do the same workout as me. I'm like, yeah, I i wouldn't like not even close.

Speaker: But don't know. We'll see. I have a new potential running buddy friend who also likes Disney and also likes roller coasters. So that's crazy coincidence though.

Speaker: Yeah. And I just happened to see on his story that that race bib with like the sponsor on it. I was like, wait a second. So weird. Anyways, those are my spills.

Speaker: ah Well, I'll bring us back into proper form with a complaint for mine. um Are you getting old? Um, yes, but I'm not talking about that this week.

Speaker: and um yeah But it's happening. it's It is happening. Yeah, it's actively happening right now. But no, this is such a first world problem. But my internet was down for two days.

Speaker: And it was so weird because normally I feel like I'm like, I'm not tech savvy, but I know the basic things. Like if my internet's not working, I've been able to troubleshoot it every single time in the past.

Speaker: But this time it was showing connected, but it was just so slow. So I contacted Verizon and they like, do all the tests from their end and they're like testing it and they're like, it we're getting like 300 megabits per second. Like, that's what you pay for. That's right. I'm like, I know what it says, but that's not what I'm getting.

Speaker: And then they just like go through all the tests. They finally send a technician out. He didn't come until today. And then he gets here and he's like, yeah, I tested on my phone on the way. You're getting 300 megabits per second. I'm like, I know what it says, but it's not working. So I have to pull up my computer.

Speaker: Like I pulled up my Netflix. Like I'm showing that both of them aren't working. And he's like, that's really weird because I'm showing you have 300 megabits per second. i'm like, dude, I know. Like I can see that.

Speaker: um So he ended up just like switching the router out and it worked fine. But I'm like, I know what your test is showing. I'm just telling you what happened. And he was so confused, too. He's like, I don't know if I've seen this where it's showing the speeds and you are just not getting them. Maybe it's a device issue.

Speaker: Like, well, that's what I thought at first, but it's on all of my devices here and everything's been fine for months. So... I mean, overall, not super terrible, but two days without internet is annoying, especially because yesterday I was completely off, like nothing to do at all.

Speaker: And I was looking forward to getting some stuff done, planning some trips and stuff, but that definitely did not happen. Jeez. Two days is pretty wild. Yeah. Yeah, that is wild.

Speaker: I've had something similar happen to me once before and it was, I guess, my fault because I had purchased my own router and was using it with the the Wi-Fi or with the internet and the router went bad and everything was fine on their end and I had to buy a new router.

Speaker: Gotcha. Yeah, this was their router, their wiring that they just put in brand new when I moved into this house like, what, five months ago, six months ago. so Yeah, that's bizarre. Yeah, very weird.

Speaker: ah Rafa, you have a spill? um Yeah. Well, I'm not complaining about anything. so and know it's away from the norm. I'm always complaining about something in these spills. But um this past weekend, I actually watched the new movie Obsession, which I really enjoyed. And I thought it was a very...

Speaker: i do If you're into horror, I definitely recommend checking this out. um It is pretty dark. um And that's all I'll say about, like, I guess what goes on in the movie. It's just a pretty dark movie. But basically, if you don't know what it is, it's basically about this guy that um he's he has a crush on this girl that he works with.

Speaker: And um after kind of being... Rejected, not really. Just a very awkward encounter. He goes shopping like at this crystal shop and he finds this little like toy that's called the... have it here. It's called the One Wish Willow. And basically it's like a little stick and you know you make a wish and you break it and the wish comes true.

Speaker: And his wish is basically to make sure that this girl is madly in love with him and in a very obsessive way and then everything unfolds and is just chaotic. Because of course, like, think about how far it could go by saying that you want somebody to be obsessed with you. um So yeah, it's very interesting movie. its it it It could be gruesome. So you know, it is rated r So you know, if you're not into that kind of dark horror, then I wouldn't suggest it. But if you like horror, like some of us spooky people, definitely watch it. I i really enjoyed it.

Speaker: Is it as good as people say it is? So going into it, like, so um after watching it, like the initial reaction, I was kind of like, okay, I feel like people really overhyped this movie just because of how much I was hearing about it. But, um but after like really thinking about it, like you start to like realize little things about what went down during the movie that you were like, oh wait, I totally forgot that this happened or, oh my gosh, I can't believe that this happened, you know, here or whatever. Like, It just it has you thinking a lot after the movie. And I feel like that changed my mind when it came to like my review of the movie. Like, I feel like I felt a lot stronger about it the more I thought about it afterwards. Gotcha. Yeah, it's got 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is like really. I saw that. That's yeah.

Speaker: It's impressive. It's very impressive. And like, it's it's really cool. I don't know I'm a big horror guy. And. I feel like lately we've been getting some quality like horror movies, especially, like I feel like ever since like they started getting like some recognition in the Oscars like with The Substance a few years ago, and then now, you know, last year, Sinners, which, I mean, Sinners is not your typical horror movie, but it's still, they still call it horror.

Speaker: um I just feel like, i don't know, they're stepping it up, and I love it. it's It's really fun. But yeah, this one, definitely watch it. it it's I think it lives up to the hype but I think it's more so just the conversations that come from it um yeah definitely check it out definitely check it out I would love to hear what you guys think about it and I would love to like discuss like what you thought about certain things that go down in the movie but yeah definitely give it a watch cool cool yeah um now we have our thrill section we didn't do a ton um some of us did go to king's island for a little bit though um you were at king's island weren't you joey i was briefly yeah okay

Speaker: um Well, Kelly and I woke up early. were at a wedding in Ohio. Shout out Allison and Mullet for their wedding. Great time. We went to Kings Island the next day. Oh, one thing that I thought was funny, and just one random thing from the wedding.

Speaker: Mike's dad like came up to a group of us and he was like, hey, I'm Mike's dad. And literally for a split second, I'm like, who is Mike? Because I call him Mullet 100% of the time. He was introduced to me as mullet.

Speaker: So literally for like half a second, i'm like, Mike. Oh, yeah, the person whose wedding I'm here for. god Yeah, when I would see some of the pictures posted and I would see like Mike and Allison, I'm like, what? Yeah, Michael. That's weird. Like That's

Speaker: But yeah, Kings Island. So Kelly and I woke up early to Rope Drop it. We got there before a Rope Drop and we were expecting to meet up with a whole bunch of Buzz Bars people.

Speaker: But um surprisingly, we were like the only ones there for Rope Drop. Surprisingly, the day after an open bar wedding, you were the only ones awake in the morning. am shocked. The fact that I was there is an insane...

Speaker: situation that part i can't believe i didn't even know that i didn't know you made it there for rope drop that's crazy yeah it was i could never it was like i'm a morning person i love to wake up but like i was not feeling well yeah yeah what was the purpose of the rope drop a cred um just to be there Just because we knew it was going to be busy and get some medicine.

Speaker: um But I went straight to Soapbox soap box Racers, got that cred. Somehow thought it was a good idea for me to ride that backward, even though I have the cred.

Speaker: <unk> Yeah, I told you not to ride it. Yeah, I was like, this is going to be the test. But Rope Drop was the move, though. We got like, what, three or four things in before the crowds arrived. And those crowds arrived.

Speaker: It was bad. Yeah, there was like 200 school buses in the parking lot. So many buses. Yeah. um I mean, I'm not going to go through ride by ride or anything, but anything stand out to you guys? Beast Retrack, had you guys done that? Nope.

Speaker: nope was better. Yeah, it was way better. Yeah. I wish they would do the full thing, honestly. I think they're slowly working on that. It seems like they're doing sections of it every year and gravity groups local. So it's kind of easy to just kind of piece by piece, get it done.

Speaker: Yeah. but If they can like add some profiling changes to that section, that's kind of straight track and get rid of the trims and all of that. The thing is, if they do it year by year, by the time they finish, they're going to have to start again at the first part.

Speaker: That's just kind of how wood coasters work. Ship at these. Yeah. So long. You guys didn't do the new dark ride, right? No. No, I wanted to. do no But we walked past it in the morning, like before rope drop. Then there was already hundreds of people in line. so Yeah. Yeah. I figured it's going to be kind of hard to ride this year just with it being the newest thing and a lot of nostalgia for Phantom Theater. So, but it looks cool. Like I saw some pictures of it and stuff and I've heard some reviews that it's well done. So I'm excited to get on it at some point.

Speaker: Yeah. i saw Coaster Studios dropped a video on it today. I haven't watched it yet, but. Yeah, and they're the voices of the characters. Wait, what? Yeah, like in the ride, like they're the voices of the characters.

Speaker: Who is? Coaster Radio. Oh, I said Coaster Studios. drop oh Oh, I'm thinking the wrong thing. I was going to say Coaster Studios Oh, no. Sorry. That would be wild. That would be funny. Yeah.

Speaker: that would be wild that would be funny yeah um any Anything else stood out about Kings Island? It's a good park. I really enjoy it. I think more than most people. I think i really enjoyed it when I went last year. I'm hoping to go back later this year. Yeah.

Speaker: It's missing like one really good superior ride, but it's, yeah it's a hell of a home park though, I think. Yeah. Yeah. I am kind of just like, whatever about Kings Island. Like I enjoy it every time I'm there, but it's not like somewhere i'm like, Oh, I have to get back to Kings Island. I do love the grand entrance that those like Paramount parks have. It's always just like good vibes by the water there and like the main strip.

Speaker: um I didn't get to ride two of my favorite rides just because of how the crowds got. and We were on the other side of the park, but I didn't. I know that this is a hot take. You guys can come at me for this, but my favorite ride at Kings Island is Banshee.

Speaker: and I didn't ride it. um I didn't ride Orion. Everything else that was notable, though, I pretty much rode. Both Mystic Timbers and the Beast were better than I remember.

Speaker: Diamondback rattled the heck out of my brain. Oh, no. Perfect timing to be riding Diamondback. No. I pretty much rode to Ryan and left because I didn't have time. um but And I also got there super late because we slept in.

Speaker: ah But it was smooth, unlike Diamondback, I guess. It was not as good as remembered, unfortunately. But I also kind of got row three, so wasn't the ideal spot for that ride, I don't think.

Speaker: It's fun. Yeah. It's fun. It's smooth. We waited like an hour and a half for it. So. cool Yeah. Yeah. I use my come on prestige past benefits. I use my one time skip the line.

Speaker: Yeah. to use For fast lane on Orion and left. Yeah. Definitely worth it. And it was one of those times when we get in line and then we just watch the line get shorter and almost nobody get in line behind us. Yeah. That's the worst. Oh.

Speaker: But it was one of those days. That's fine. A bad day in a park is still better than a good day in most other places. Yeah. All right. um i came up with a fun game for us to play today when I realized we didn't have much content. So I am calling this Chinese Coasters Real or Fake Coasters.

Speaker: So what I did, I went through, yeah, I went through RCDB and i found some coasters that are real and then I made some up. There's 20 total. Okay. and so Some are real names and some I made them up. Because if if you're not familiar with the way Chinese roller coasters are named, they obviously are in like Chinese or Mandarin, but they have like a really bad English translation beside them on the sign. And that's how they're awkward names on RCDB.

Speaker: um Python in Bamboo Forest. like That's an example. It's just long and awkward and very littleter There's also one called Wood Coaster. Yes. Very descriptive.

Speaker: Yes. um So there's 20 of them. thinking maybe I'll just... Huh? We just get the name? Yeah, I'm just going to give you the name and you tell me if you think that's a real Chinese coaster or one that I made up.

Speaker: Okay. All right. And I'll just go in order. I'll go Joey, Rafa because that's order you guys are on my screen. Okay. right, number one, column type spin block.

Speaker: Kelly. Fake. That is a real ride. No, I thought it was real. It is a gym to ride spinning coaster at Dream Park.

Speaker: Feel free to follow along on ICDB if you'd like. That sounds terrible. All right, next one, Joey. Falcon dive into water.

Speaker: Oh gosh.

Speaker: Do they have, I don't have enough exposure to Chinese coasters to really, really know, but I think that's fake. I did make that up. Yes. Okay. There are coasters there that dive into the water, but that one didn't ring a bell.

Speaker: I know. Yeah. That was a little too straightforward. Yeah. Some of them are like that though. And Joey, I figured would probably be the best at this. So if I can fool you, I'm going to be happy about it. Okay.

Speaker: All right, Rafa. um Wizards spell spinning coaster. is that fake? That is also fake. Yeah. Nice. All right, Kelly, we have inflaming beetles.

Speaker: Inflaming? Is that even a word? Inflaming beetles. Fake. That is also real. That's not a word. you Flaming beetles. Flaming beetles. Yeah, it is. ah Oh my gosh, this pronunciation is gonna be terrible.

Speaker: Beijing Zhua Amusement Rides. It's a super skateboard model. and It's at Sezhu Yangqing Peninsula Theme Park. Oh my gosh.

Speaker: Definitely did not know about that one. Yeah. I had fun going through r cd b two Oh my gosh. Yeah. I can imagine you found some, some crazy ones. Yeah. All right, Joey. Next we have monorail train wooden coaster.

Speaker: That sounds real. Real. Yeah. That is fake. yeah I did get inspiration from the beast though. So.

Speaker: ah all right, next to Rafa, we have Flight of the Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster.

Speaker: That sounds so ridiculous. it has to be real. Correct. That is real. I did know that one. Yeah, it's actually a B&M. It's a B&M, right? Yeah. Wait, that sounds kind of familiar.

Speaker: Yeah. Is it at a Happy Valley? or Yeah, yeah, it's at Happy Valley. Yeah. I've watched that i hadn't heard work before, but it's a B&M hyper, so I figured Joey might know it. All right, next. Kelly, the biggest thrill. don't know.

Speaker: Mine are so hard. hung See, now I'm like using, did you know that you were going to play the game this way? i didn't know what order it was going to go in. no Real.

Speaker: You are 0 for 3. It is fake. Oh my god. Geez. Sorry. you'll You'll get redemption. Don't worry. Probably not at this point.

Speaker: No, you got a few more. yeah yeah Next one, Joey. Cat on fire in hell. Oh, that's real. That's real. I've heard of it.

Speaker: I made it up. What do you mean you've heard? You guys were so confident about it. You guys were like, that's that's definitely real. I feel like, okay, this is going really show my nerd status, but at one point a couple of years ago, I made a spreadsheet of all roller coasters on RCDB. like Literally, it took me months.

Speaker: And I feel like I've heard names like that before. fame Find it for me because I completely made that That is a wild name. All right, Rafa, yours is Stress Express.

Speaker: ah I'll say it's fake. That is real. It's real. I remember that from my spreadsheet because I said that. Okay. Well, lost my streak. I got, what, like two right? Yeah. That's actually, there's eight of them named that, and they're all Vekoma Boomerangs. So they are aptly named for sure. Yeah.

Speaker: We should just change the names to the ones in the U.S. to stress express. That's better. um Kelly, your turn. Next one is Buddhism Boundless.

Speaker: I'm so sorry. It's real.

Speaker: At this point, like I should just keep getting them wrong. Just go with the opposite of your instinct. That's what did that time. Oh, you did?

Speaker: Oh, um I feel bad, kind of. think That is a um a steel looping coaster by, oh gosh, Hebei Zongye Metallurgical Equipment Manufacturing Company.

Speaker: And it is that ZU World of Adventure. Fun times. Wait, did we skip Joey? No, it's my zone he's next right now. Oh, OK.

Speaker: No, no. if I'm talking about earlier, though. Like the last one. No, you had the cat on fire in hell. That's right. Next, Joey.

Speaker: Top thrill. Total launch coaster. Top thrill total launch coaster. Oh gosh. That sounds like it could be real, but also like you could have made it up based on top thrill too. going to go real.

Speaker: No, I made it up based on top thrill too. All

Speaker: all right. Rafa influencer ripoff roller coaster. That can't be real. That's fake. That is real. What?

Speaker: What is that? it is a human powered kitty coaster. Oh, with the little bike that you. I guess it's hard to tell from the pictures, but. Oh, that's funny.

Speaker: Yeah, it just says it's human powered. It's at Zongshan Park. all right, Kelly. Redemption time. Beach vibes boardwalk. I like the name, whether you made it up or not.

Speaker: um I'm going to say fake. Yes, I did make it up. finally I don't know if the Chinese are using the word vibes yet. Yeah, I was kind of thinking about you when I wrote it. I was like, beach vibe sounds like Kelly. So I'm glad you got that one.

Speaker: Joey, next we have 11th roller coaster. That's real. That is real. Yeah, I thought you might know that one. It's um an 11 inversion coaster by the the high beige on metallurgical equipment.

Speaker: Yeah, that great, great zing dong tourist world. They went and copied into men. Yeah. I just like that. it's eleventh Yeah, I thought maybe it was like their 11th coaster at the park. It just means it has 11 inversions, I guess. Yeah, it's a weird translation.

Speaker: Yeah. Rafa, cute chicken paradise. Is that real? That is real. Yeah, it's a yeah city coaster Good City Street.

Speaker: Love that. I just remember seeing Bradley ride a lot of chicken themed roller coasters when he was in China. That's true. Yeah, they have a lot of chicken roller coasters.

Speaker: Kelly, next one. Ants on a hill. I think that's real. That is fake. I made it up. um dan great so ah a Joey. Ha ha. Roller coaster.

Speaker: I think that's real. That is real. Yeah, it's a um one of those like powered twin helix ones. It didn't say the manufacturer, but and it's at Zinni Square.

Speaker: Fun times. Plus one. yeah Rafa. Arabic Adventure Space Coaster. That's so long. um It's real?

Speaker: No, I made it up. made it up. Arabic Adventures in Space. Okay, but that sounds way It sounds ridiculous. like I thought it was to be real. I really thought it was going be real.

Speaker: I kind of took like part Falcon's flight and then went with like the Buddhism one from earlier and combined those. So that's how came with that.

Speaker: All right. I have two more. Okay. Kelly. Flying and floating over the clouds and water. I'm so sorry. It's real.

Speaker: I was going to say. That sounds like a version of two rides put together. it does. Yeah. Is it a coaster? What is it? Yeah, it's um Beijing Shibuole Amusement Equipment Suspended a Looping Coaster Ginko Lake Amusement Park.

Speaker: So it's like a knockoff SLC. Yeah, I've seen videos of them and the tracking is even worse than Vekoma. So. oh God. Yikes.

Speaker: All right, Joey. Last one. Oh, gosh. Dog go bark and park.

Speaker: Dog, go bark in park. That's it like I kind hope it's real. I think that's fake. Yeah, that's fake. Yeah. Darn, that would be funny if it was real. I was really hoping for it to be real. Yeah.

Speaker: That was fun. I had so much fun making that. That was fun. Yeah, that was a good idea. Yeah. Maybe we'll do that again. There's a lot more names where those came from. yeah. was going to say, China has so many roller coasters.

Speaker: The incredible thing about looking up Chinese roller coasters on RCDB, there's like 40 pages of just unknowns. Oh, and some of them. Yeah, some of them are like, you know, they haven't been named yet or they're being built, but a lot of them are like 30 years old and just I don't know. Either there's no good English translation or no English person has been there and like and reported back to RCDB. I don't know.

Speaker: Yeah, that's probably what it is. That's crazy. Unknown. hope you guys enjoyed that. It was fun to make. It was fun to watch you guys struggle too.

Speaker: There were some fun names in there for sure. right. We do have a couple of questions we can knock out here. Ethan um regarding bars. He said, give us a stumble a preview.

Speaker: What are you most excited for when visiting Canada this weekend? um I will not be visiting Canada, unfortunately. but Me neither. Scarborough Bluffs, though, if that is a lot of fun and people like it, then I did plan that.

Speaker: um If it's a complete disaster, then Tom planned it all. so Sure. ah but what are you guys looking forward to?

Speaker: ah Making it there. I'm a little worried about flights uh Alpenfury the reviews have been good I don't know what I'm looking forward to Amelia will get her 100th cred what I don't know on what um oh my god that should have been a spill sorry I'm going out of order and not answering your question Ethan both my kids run steel force finally that's this is true oh yeah Oh my God. but It was adorable when he got off of it and he was like telling Amelia. that he did it first. It's so cute. um Okay. Yeah. I'm excited for Scarborough Bluffs because the the pictures look beautiful. I'm also excited for the Blue Jays game.

Speaker: Hmm.

Speaker: We've both been to Canada's Wonderland before, to be clear. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah Yeah. The only one I'm missing thinknc is Alpen Fury, so. Yeah. No, and the Snoopy thing that we couldn't ride. and Yeah, wouldn't let us ride Snoopy and or Lucy. Is that what it it's called there? Yeah. Something. Something small. Yep. And I'm going to ride it all.

Speaker: Yeah, we are. come on ben and amelia we got kitty chris right really can't tell me no no matter what you are told to do now yeah yeah supposedly they've stopped enforcing the like must have a child rules there um but when we were there they were very strict about it even though it was raining and there was nobody there and we went up like four different times four different people and they're still trying to get on this empty ride and they're like no ah anyway I really don't want to go there in the rain again though I know that was hilarious like I'm seeing the forecast and then like man this is flashback to last time with the rain which was literally three years ago why is it raining hopefully it clears up or at least it's just like very light or something we'll see how it goes yeah

Speaker: yeah If I make it to Niagara Falls for the boat, I'm excited for that too. yeah only um only ever We like drove past it. we yeah You guys refused to stop. Oh my god.

Speaker: I knew it was coming. I saw it building there for a few seconds. I was angry. I've been to Niagara Falls like three other times. yeah Okay, it's all about you, I guess. It was, because I was driving.

Speaker: I had never been, so I got to see the mist floating up in the background. That was about the best. you can see it top of the drop tower at Marine World. I was just going to say, we saw it.

Speaker: Marine Land on the drop tower. Marine Land. True, true. R.I.P. I will go back one day. it probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon, so...

Speaker: Yeah, no. Very jealous. I will be missing out. Yeah. We'll miss you. Yeah. See you at the next one. ah heroins Yeah.

Speaker: The birthday bash, right? Oh, no, not caro. I'm not going to caro ones now. Yeah. The birthday bash I'm going to. Okay. That's the important one. So. Yeah. Yeah. That's the one I'm going to. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Next question is from Alex. Is there an optimal whoring strategy for the coasters around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge?

Speaker: Prepare your bank account. I have a couple. Yeah, bring your wallet. Like... Yeah, look her look for discounts and um look at a map and plot them out and go in geographic order. Yeah, but definitely don't balance between Gatlin and Pidgeon. That makes no sense. Like they're just yeah the way that they're separated.

Speaker: But I mean, i don't think any of them are ever like slammed, you know, so it's just kind of knock them out one at a time. i've I've never been to one that was crazy, crazy busy.

Speaker: I would say save Lost Mine for the nighttime if you can. For sure. Yeah. agree Yeah. yeahll Do like the island and um whatever that little Grand Prix park was. That stuff's daytime stuff.

Speaker: Mountain coasters are kind of cool at night. And they're usually open. I'm a pretty big or at least I used to be a pretty big cred whore. And like my priority when I've been in that area has still not to be to like ride more than one or two per trip. Like if you really want creds, you can clean up down there if you have the money for it. But I haven't done it.

Speaker: Yeah, I've done like three or four total. Yeah. And I know Keith is listening to this right now, rolling his eyes because he doesn't think any of these are creds. So, yeah. Sorry, Keith. The optimal hoarding strategy is they're not creds. You don't have to ride them. There you go.

Speaker: ah He's going to love it. Just go to Dollywood like you're supposed to. Yeah. It is true, though. I mean, like Dollywood was one of those places that I know I'll be back to. So I've never been overly concerned about knocking them all out in one visit. And if you think you're going to visit again in the future, then I would say the same. Like, don't don't spend an entire day bouncing between mountain coasters. Like, that's not going to be the most fun thing that you can do.

Speaker: Yeah. It's also like they start to run together. So I feel like if you do two or three, a trip, like they're different enough where you can actually like remember them. Yeah. least i can Yeah, for sure.

Speaker: All right, we do have a couple chills things tonight. um Indiana Beach is getting a new or possibly reimagined attraction called Eddie's House of Monsters.

Speaker: um Do you guys know much about it? All I know is just reading on the website. Yeah, I don't know anything about it. That's pretty much all I've seen. Yeah, I did go on the map and based on the location they're saying it's at next to Music Express, it is not the same thing as Frankenstein's Castle, which is an existing attraction there. So I think it's going to be an entirely new attraction, which is pretty cool.

Speaker: That is sick. And I love in Indiana beach. It's one of my favorite parks in the country. the vibes are so good. i used to go out there. and Oh my God. I love it so much.

Speaker: That is wild. I'm excited to get back. um I've only been once and it was like three years ago. so I'm going this summer. So I'm excited. Okay. They did put a backwards car on triple loop, which is kind of crazy. Wild.

Speaker: well I want to go. I want to go. What do you know what day you're going? I recommend strip planning. we can do this later. It's not finalized, but. Okay.

Speaker: It's definitely a good one to have on the list, though. If it falls on a day that I can go, I'm 100% going. I love that part. I will let you know. ah We need to get everyone together to go there at some point. Yes.

Speaker: It's an interesting place. Sky Bar is a vibe, too, for BuzzFeed. Yeah, yeah, for sure. yeah Not me. I'm never drinking again.

Speaker: Of course, of course. um It does say this is a separately ticketed attraction, so I guess it'll be an upcharge. Yeah, I think the Frankenstein's Castle thing is like that as well. I don't think it's terribly expensive, though. i think it was under $5. Yeah, it wasn't but crazy. I mean, that whole park is cheap anyway, so it's not too bad.

Speaker: Yeah. um There was a new Horror Nights video released on YouTube. Kelly, you want to tell us about that? Yeah, kind of. So the last video that the prior to today that was released on their YouTube channel was like the introduction of Jack and Oddfellow as the icons for the year. And then about 10 hours ago, there was a new video released, but it was just like a like a infomercial for HHN, like nothing, nothing. I mean, unless there's something secret hidden in it, I haven't watched it in its entirety really to like look, but I think it's just a commercial. But what I did notice is both of those videos um were added to a playlist.

Speaker: um And when I saw that, I didn't even really think anything of it. But then I saw on um Fear and Beer's Instagram, they were like, oh, the name of the new playlist is Preview HHN 2026, what's coming. so Maybe that's an indication that they're planning to drop some more teaser videos soon or give us any type of information, you know, since like, when did we find out about Oddfellow and Jack, like March?

Speaker: it feels like a while ago. Yeah. Yeah. i think it was March. God. Yeah. We're almost in June and that's when we got everything last year. So yeah. Might be on the same schedule. I don't know. Yeah. I think so. How's every week? yeah We got to have something to talk about soon with HHN. Like it's it's got something's coming. has to.

Speaker: Hopefully. Yeah. Yeah. So maybe something, maybe nothing. We are kind of. we're so We're scraping at HHN news here, okay? A little bit, yeah. There's really nothing.

Speaker: We will be looking at it second by second for any secret code right after this episode ends. Yeah. And as it gets closer to actual HHN, which is only... Like three months away, three and a half months away, four maybe, four months away, um we will do all of the things. We will talk about our hype lists and the houses and the foods and all the things that we did last year and all the other times. And hopefully sooner rather than later.

Speaker: and more homework, movies to watch. people going Yeah, I think definitely I might watch something next weekend maybe. Sweet. Sweet.

Speaker: All right, Scott gave us a question. He said, rank the following in level of importance to you for HHN houses. um So gave us five things.

Speaker: House design slash lighting slash sound, that's one. Two, jump scares. Three, costumes. Four, storytelling slash overall theme.

Speaker: And five, an X factor that's not listed, but it but that is important to you. Please elaborate on it. Hmm. I can go. Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker: Okay, number one for me is jump scares always. i want to be scared. Number two is design, lighting, sound, mostly sound. Sound can also scare me. So I feel like that's really important. um Number three is storytelling slash overall theme. Love when there's a good backstory and it ties into the rest of the event. Love when they give us some background information or like homework we can do or the podcast episodes, just anything to kind of know the lore of the house before we go into it.

Speaker: Number four for me would be an X factor not listed. And that is scent because my nose is so strong. And if I don't like the smell of a house, I don't like the house. And all play dead and number five is costumes. Cause don't give a shit. I barely can see that stuff.

Speaker: Yeah. I think I'd go with I think house design is number one for me, actually. um Definitely because of, like, especially when they, like, add these really good hiding spots for these actors, like, sometimes they come up with the most clever ways to scare, you know, everybody.

Speaker: And then after that, storytelling. And then after that, jump scares. And it's it's lower on my list because you guys know it does not take much to get a jump scare out of me. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, so that that doesn't have to be so high up. So yeah, jump scares at number three and then costumes for the same reason. You really can't see it when it's dark in the houses. And I don't know, X Factor, I mean, another like factor that isn't listed here, I don't think there's anything else. I mean, that kind of hits each major point. so So yeah, I think I'd rank it that way.

Speaker: um i think I'm going most important is how house design, lighting, and sound. I mean, you don't have a house without a good house design.

Speaker: Second is probably... This is tough. Second is probably the jump scares. I might just go in order here. Jump scares are good. It does take a lot for me to jump, although I've gotten some good scares over the last few years, as you guys have seen.

Speaker: Um, the third one, I'm going to storytelling overall theme. I don't think that's as important because I just trust HHN to put on a good house, no matter what the theme is. Like they could just be given a crappy theme and make it a good house.

Speaker: So I don't think that's important. Um, fourth, I'm going to do my X factor. I'm going to say Q length. I just find myself. That's so true.

Speaker: Yeah. and I just find myself going through the houses with the shorter cues and I end up appreciating those more by the end of the season. Like I loved like terrifier, but just it was so long and it was such an ordeal to,

Speaker: um get there for scream early and forever get in the sun on the pavement. Like, Oh my gosh. Yeah. had Like a consistently 30 minute queue. I would have done it probably 20 times throughout the season. But um so I think I kind of end up appreciating some of the ones at the back of the park a little bit more just cause I get in them more often, except for dolls. Screw you dolls. Yeah. all of the dolls hate or dolls for different reasons yeah and then costumes is last for the same reason I think it's important but it's just you don't see it as much yeah and I mean and Scott did ask for like HHN houses if he would have just said HHN in general then maybe costumes may have been a little higher just because they're so important in the scare zones true yeah but at least for houses I would definitely keep that towards the bottom

Speaker: I've been thinking about mine. um i I think I'm going to put, again, the house design, lighting, sound, number one, just because I think that that's what makes HHN special and different, just the budget that goes into that.

Speaker: um But I would put storytelling and theme as number two, just because I think that's very... entwined into the house design and like informs it um and can really kind of make or break the kind of flow of the house and how we feel about it. Like, I think Fallout had some impressive sets in it, but the storytelling just kind of fell apart a little bit.

Speaker: um, as an example. So I think those two are like kind of critical to both hit. Well, um, I would put jump scares that one in the back. That just made me think of it. What was that one where we didn't know what the hell was going on? You're underground.

Speaker: Grave of Flesh. Oh, yes. Grave of Flesh. Yeah. What the heck? That's another one. We're like, did have some cool design elements to it. Yeah. But yeah it didn't make any sense. Bonecrusher.

Speaker: Yeah. Bonecrusher. Yeah. Green light. So for It's important. um and So yeah, I would put those top two. And then jump scares number three. um Definitely like to be jump scared. But again, like it's not necessarily a unique aspect for HHN, but it will like elevate your experience if you get a really good one.

Speaker: um My number four is... ah probably the, this X factor. Um, and mine is like to expand on scent, just kind of any extra atmospherics that the house has, whether that's smell, whether that's something under your feet, that's different than just the soundstage floor, the tent floor. Um, if it's wind, if there's rain or water, like all of that kind of stuff can really kind of elevate it. Um,

Speaker: and make you remember something specifically about it. And then I put costumes last too. I think, you know, we're probably like underrating that because if the people who were popping out had no costumes on, we'd be like, what? But it's so like, oftentimes it's so brief that it's like, okay, like they don't have to be perfect, you know?

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Cool. That was a fun question. Yeah. Thanks, Scott. yeah Yeah, that was a great question. Lots more HHN content to come. Hopefully. i don't know about next episode, but probably like two or three episodes from now for sure. Yeah. There's no way we won't have it by then. Yeah, for sure.

Speaker: um Anything else, guys? Cool. That might be our shortest episode ever. I'm sure Joey has, all but that's pretty good. Not bad. Yeah.

Speaker: Well, anyways, give us a follow if you have not already. we are on Instagram. We're sometimes on Twitter. um We're on Discord if you're on Discord. But make sure you follow us and let us know what kind of content you want to see and keep the questions coming.
