Zack: What is up? Welcome back to the Next Guy Up podcast. You've got Tins and Zach with you here today. we are We have three weeks until... Well, actually we only have two weeks until week zero, I guess.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: Week zero, what a weird concept in college football. But there are legitimate NFL preseason games on as well. All day today and yesterday we had some preseason games.
Zack: There was a certain number one overall pick made his debut last night.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He did.
Zack: He looked not great at times, but made some good throws. Him and Calvin Ridley, you have to be... It feels like he's just going spam the Calvin Ridley button. That's what it seems like right now.
Zack: So, I mean, if that's what it takes, you know, throw it to him.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. When in doubt, air it out to Calvin..................................
Zack: If that's the only guy, that's your guy, you know. ah So, it feels like um we're getting much closer and closer all the time. We will be talking some SEC football over-unders today. We're in some the exciting part of SEC, this middle tier, where some of the teams are probably going to pop up into that top tier and being competing for the SEC championship, and some teams are going to fall right to that maybe bowl game cut line kind of teams. And so we're talking about which ones are which today.
Zack: We are going to break down those four for you. and We got some press releases. We got some stuff cooking. Ten's. has been on the NFL grind. He he sent me some, what I consider to be some, ah some sure things, some must take bets.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh.
Zack: And so um you are going to want to hear some of those.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Hmm.
Zack: He's, you know, as he's collecting the data, he's he's getting the, the reads from camp. He's seeing the stuff going on. And so he's, he's, he's got his finger on the pulse. I'll just tell you that.
Zack: And he's got some good takes for us, I think. So, We have a lot coming at you today as we are just getting ready for the season. Just getting close. Tens, how we doing?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Doing great. Had a great weekend.
Zack: Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Been in the lab. Been in a Mason's pool. We had a little pool party yesterday. Zach was also there.
Zack: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Fam. it's It's been a good weekend, but preseason started. It started Thursday, and there's been so many games. I haven't watched all of them, but... ah I did sign up for NFL plus so I can go back and rewatch games.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And I did a little bit of that today. Rewatched the Titans game last night, or at least the part where the cam ward was in.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Cause I didn't get to watch it live. I was watching the Jags third and fourth string guys play um last night.
Zack: Yeah. It's dedication.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Cause I am locked in. I'm trying to figure out to be at the end of ah the Jags roster. We've got a pretty, we've got a kid from Minnesota defensive end, Jack Swanee. I think he's going to make the final roster.
Zack: Wow. Shout out to that guy.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's, that's That's me knowing Jack's ball. But ah I will say this. I think Cam Ward looked good. He does like Calvin Early, which is good. your number one receiver.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um But he didn't look overwhelmed that we're playing um the backups and everything. But the offensive line, I'll go ahead and say this.
Zack: Yep.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: think the Titans have the best offensive line in the AFC South. No joke.
Zack: I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm not being sarcastic. Legitimately, they do have a very – I mean,
Zack: Pretty much everything we say, but the Titans are sarcastic, so it's hard for me to know.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, no, that's that's me being real. I mean, youre the Callahan, his dad is like a world-renowned offensive line coach, so you would hope so.
Zack: Okay.
Zack: Yep, you would.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They've invested a lot of money that offensive line, a couple first-round picks, very high-paid left tackle. But I think that'll be a strength, and that's good. You want to have a good offensive line in front of Cam. he does like the He has a little bit of that Caleb Williams in him where he likes to hold the ball and kind of run around a little bit back there.
Zack: Yeah, he had a couple moments last night. i was like, that you should have thrown that away probably earlier. Cool it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: it but all in all good like he looked good for his first nfl action
Zack: He did. He had some good throws. He almost threw a pick. He really and probably should have been a pick. It was not a good throw. He had a couple times where he looked a little flustered. But overall, he has a couple good throws as well.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: overall yeah his first well i think his first completion was to calvin for like 27
Zack: They were all to Calvin Ridley, I think. But that's okay. He had like three in a row, like straight plays at one point.
Zack: Mm-hmm. Hey, we're going to take that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We'll take it. And Gunnar Helm, a tight end you guys drafted out of Texas. I love that kid. I really wanted him.
Zack: Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I really wanted the Jags to take him. He had a good game too. if i If I allowed myself to draft AFC South division rivals, players on my dynasty teams, um and and for for dynasty or regular fantasy, I'd be looking at Gunnar, but it would break my rule, so.
Zack: Hmm.
Zack: Yeah. That's fair.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Got to live by standard out here.
Zack: A certain standard. What are we if not with, we don't have standards, you know, chaos.
Zack: Okay. Well, we're, we're going to start off with a little bit of, um, little bit of press release action. Some stuff going on around, around the world. We got some, some foods, uh, some food items.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We do?
Zack: Uh,
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, yeah, we do. I was like, we do?
Zack: Tim has some food items he's gonna he's gonna share with us.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah, yeah.
Zack: um i wanted I saw an interesting headline and this is ah this may be new to tens as well. I've been dipping my toes into the world of chess. um Me and me and a friend from work have been playing at lunch and stuff like that. There's you can play online pretty easy and so I've been trying to pick it up spoiler alert pretty bad.
Zack: Maybe I should do like my journey to half marathon but with chess.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Ooh.
Zack: Fat to fit. No, fat to fast.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Right. That's fast. so now we're doing
Zack: But like bad at chess too.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Grandmaster.
Zack: Less bad at chess. Yeah, I and think I'm actually like too old to start playing chess to actually be good at any point. It's like one of those things where it's like there's literally like six-year-olds that could beat me in like 30 seconds right now.
Zack: And I'm not sure I could ever come back from that. But, you know, we're just here to to to work a little bit. So bet all that to say, I saw a headline. And this headline was um that there was an AI chess championship.
Zack: um This was kind of, an from what I hear, was pretty big in the chess community because it it was testing four of the the world's largest AI systems against each other to see how they would compete.
Zack: And so the the finals ended up being open AI, which is like the chat GPT one um versus grok, the Twitter, Elon Musk's AI software.
Zack: So they literally just played a game of chess against each other. And this was, it was basically like, um from what I understand in the chess world is they basically played at like a high school level.
Zack: If you're talking about like professional sports, like they were not very good, but,
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah
Zack: ChatGPT, OpenAI, crushed Elon Musk's Grok.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: well that's you know grok is really busy if you get on twitter at all there's at least 40 people in every comment section asking grok to explain what's going on in whatever you know this picture or this video it's it's busy grok's got a lot on his plate chess is pretty far down
Zack: It's a tough day for
Zack: true. It's busy.
Zack: he's not a up
Zack: um Yeah, I saw one of the the biggest chess players in the world was like, yeah, I'm not sure ion Musk really respects chess very much. And so your move, Elon.
Zack: It's time to make Grok great again.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Time to invest. He's going to get hyper fixated on it and and turn Kroc into the greatest chess player.
Zack: If you want the respect of the chess world. Yeah.
Zack: Um, exciting stuff there in the chess community. Big, big time.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Big time.
Zack: Yeah. So um don't know what that means fully, but I thought that was just very, we're making AI play chess with each other to see which one's better. So it's like, I would like to see an Olympics for AI, like, um, put them through various tasks and, and see which ones performed best.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's... wow
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Now we're talking.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Sporkles crossword puzzles.
Zack: You can test speed, but accuracy, ah creativity, you know, there's a lot of things you could judge off of and see which one's best.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Uh, yeah.
Zack: I like that. think it's fair. Why not?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think we might've just, I think we need to get ahead of that real quick. That's our get rich quick scheme right there.
Zack: um
Zack: We did.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The AI games.
Zack: So I did want to kind of parlay this into another conversation tense. I know we talked about it. um And this is kind of a,
Zack: I really want to do a thing this season, and we've talked about this before already, where we compete with AI gambling.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: And so I think this needs to happen. We need to put AI to the test.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I agree.
Zack: I think each week we just need to be like, maybe each week it's just as simple as,
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i I think we are going to do this.
Zack: Hey, Chad GPT, give me your best bet for the college football weekend. This, uh, whatever.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: And see what they say. And then you, we pick our bets as well and see our record at the end of the season.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i've I've been testing it just to see the wording. um And what I've been doing is I've been um been using ChatGBT. I say, give me your best three-leg parlay. You can use any NFL.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And I've been doing baseball since baseball is on right now. So you can use any NFL or baseball picks or games that are going on this weekend. So I think we can do it because I know we we do college and NFL.
Zack: I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I know you you normally give a college pick. Mason will for sure give an NFL, and I kind of just – whichever way. um
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So I'm definitely – I'm going to do it as a Twitter – or not Twitter.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, it will be on Twitter, but I'm going do it as a TikTok series too. I'll have it.
Zack: I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm going to be messing with the green screen to do that. but ah And then all the picks will be in Discord as far as – so we can see –
Zack: I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We can keep track and then we can see if we can beat AI by the end of the year. See who who's better.
Zack: Man versus machine.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I like our chances.
Zack: tale as old as time. Let's see if we actually know ball.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But I'll have like a parameter set in it where it couldn't just pick like three super heavy money like Alabama against
Zack: Yeah, I think you need to put a minimum ah ah minimum like threshold for the...
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: the picks. the The parlay like odds have to be X number minimum.
Zack: Yeah, like... Right.
Zack: Right.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But yeah, it's going be a fun thing, I think, that we're going to do, see how well we do against ChatGBT for the season.
Zack: I bet you can set that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I like our chances. iva I've already claimed this is the the fall that I bankrupt DraftKings.
Zack: I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I had a bad end of college basketball and left a bad taste in my mouth. So I'm i'm coming for revenge.
Zack: um like that. I think that if we lose, then but we have to shut the podcast down, though.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: if we get absolutely killed by Gbt, yeah, we can't gamble anymore.
Zack: Yeah. I think we just, or maybe we have Chad GPT maker podcast for us.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: And we just kind of just be like, why don't you guys just ramble on about some, ah some random stuff that happened this week in the news and also talk about football for a while.
Zack: And just see what I think that we, so i think the stakes are high. We have to win this.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We're challenged. We're challenged. We're challenged in chat. Gbt pink slips. All right. You know, If you're better than us, you can have our pod.
Zack: You can have the pod.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Now, that's not to say we won't just start the next guy up podcast 2.0.
Zack: i That's correct. Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We have endless and amount of names.
Zack: We have names. i ah Sometimes I'll just see a name and be like, oh man, that's a good pod name.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, Zach does throw that out sometimes.
Zack: Let's go SQL.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: but Guys, what podcast is named this? We change our name.
Zack: I really like the name glue Guys. don't
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He does like the name Blue Guys. When we... when we lock when
Zack: know.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: but when somebody buys us to become part of their podcast network, we'll start a second pod within this one and we'll do glue guys.
Zack: Yeah.
Zack: I like that.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So hope you're listening to Barstool or ESPN or CBS or whoever else is at the FanDuel.
Zack: i youer We're open to conversations for sure.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. We're taking any and all offers. We have two, we're offering two podcasts. We have the name of the second one.
Zack: know We have a new one for sure.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We just don't know what it's going to be about, but it's got a name.
Zack: Yeah, no details. All good bots are really a good name.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Probably a lot.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You can't have a good podcast without a good name.
Zack: Okay, so that yeah, so AI and our official challenge. That was my press release for the day. So yeah,
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Yeah. So be be on the lookout for that. You're going to have to follow us on TikTok to get live up to date and see the actual pics against each other.
Zack: it's coming.
Zack: Sorry, that was a um rubber ducky that accidentally that blocks my daughter that accidentally squeaked into the microphone.
Zack: OK, Tins, you got some. ah
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yes, I have yeah some pret yeah some press releases.
Zack: Yes, please.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: This is fresh off the desk of Tins himself.
Zack: I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um
Zack: All right. All right.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: if you are If you've been listening for a while, if you've if this is your first episode, first of all, welcome.
Zack: Welcome.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Welcome. Whoever sent you here, thanks. um But if you've been listening, you know that am out on soda fountains. I asked Donald Trump to fix this issue.
Zack: Famously, yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Just had a really bad run for a while of just being bad. Every soda fountain from every fast food place was just trash. So I've been not drinking. I've been drinking tea or water or something that's not soda.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And I have an announcement. We're back, but on a limited basis.
Zack: Oh, we're back.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Limited basis, though. Limited basis. Here we go.
Zack: I like that. I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Wendy's, zero of your fountain drinks.
Zack: who Ooh.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Zero of them. They're still trash.
Zack: Stuff.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They're still really bad. All over.
Zack: Dang.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Sonic.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We're done. We're out. I might just be done with Sonic in general.
Zack: Ooh.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I've had a really bad run of Sonic for like two months.
Zack: Not even... i've been to Sonic in a while, I'll be honest with you. It's been a while.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's normally me and Macy will hit it after school when I pick her up from school. And so since school started back this week, we went twice.
Zack: Mm-hmm.
Zack: Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: and Both times. Terrible. yeah I even got just the sweet tea and added peach.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It was just wasn't good. so Sonic, I'm borderline done with permanently, but I'm not getting any more soda from Sonic.
Zack: okay Oh!
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Taco Bell, you're back. We're back on all the... We're back. Taco Bell, you're all the way back.
Zack: All the way.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You fixed your problem. I knew you guys were listening. I knew Taco Bell was listening to this podcast. They've... even added the PayPal feature on the app after my whole fiasco of my debit card not working for a year.
Zack: oh
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And then my debit card started working.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But even during all that time, I was trying to pay it through PayPal and what it wouldn't let me. But now they've added that feature too.
Zack: Yeah, they added it because they had the money because they your income went up because they finally fixed your app.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, exactly.
Zack: Like, wow, our sales are up 10% this quarter. This is crazy. Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's because I was back. um Let's see. or ah McDonald's. Only the Diet Coke. The rest of their sodas are trash.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They're just trash. don't know what's going on.
Zack: You don't think this like changes over time? You
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't know. I keep testing it.
Zack: you have a running test.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I said I wasn't. So what was happening when I made this announcement back in the day, i i never really stopped. I kept trying them, you know, was testing to see where we were at.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And they're still just all bad.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Other than, where so we're at Taco Bell, McDonald's, Diet Coke has been approved.
Zack: Okay, yeah. Just Diet Coke. I like that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, the rest of them have been bad.
Zack: I drink a lot Diet Coke these days.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Heart.
Zack: so feel like that's how you know you're like old.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, same. healthy.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You started liking diet soda?
Zack: feel like Diet Coke is an old drink. Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Yep.
Zack: I try to drink a full a full calorie Coke and I'm just like, ugh, that's calories there.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think
Zack: For I could eat something else that would be so much better than this regular Coke.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It just too sweet.
Zack: It's not worth it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: See, I'm not going to say it's because of calories because I famously don't believe in calories.
Zack: Okay. That's true.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And I did eat nine tacos at Mason's pool party yesterday and then went and got ice cream afterwards and still ate a full dinner.
Zack: Shout out.
Zack: Nice.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So and just I started liking the taste of Diet Coke and it's just not as sweet.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's like not as sugary as other sodas.
Zack: Okay.
Zack: I actually like Coke Zero more than Diet Coke, but...
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i don't i can't get I can't get with Coke Zero.
Zack: It is different.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Hmm.
Zack: It's subtle, but it's different.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: All right, two more. Zaxby's.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Zaxby's, you're back. Your whole setup is perfect.
Zack: Wow. Because they've got the machine too, right? The freestyle?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: not Yeah, that's where it started was the freestyle machines are trash. But Zaxby's, they've got it.
Zack: Okay. They fixed it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: they They know what they're doing over there at Zaxby's.
Zack: Wow. Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And then last but not least, Firehouse Subs. All the way. You might just want to stop there and just get a drink because they have the most perfect freestyle machine there is.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I've not had a single problem with with Firehouse.
Zack: Maybe the Coke people figure something out. Maybe there's like some malfunctions and they're like, we got to fix all the freestyle machines.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Maybe.
Zack: Maybe they should have like a software update.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well. Well, I would like to think I played a big part in that. Not a small part. A big part. And
Zack: Yeah, we all needed a whistleblower for this, you know, somebody to to raise the alarm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: that was.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm your guy.
Zack: Guys, the standards are dropping. They just need to hire you on as quality control.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'll gladly take that job. But speak also Firehouse. Shout out Firehouse. um You don't get a lot of love in the sub game, but Firehouse is is the most elite subs there is.
Zack: the
Zack: Wow. Pretty expensive.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'll compare the what?
Zack: I mean, Subway's pretty expensive too, I guess, huh?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Subway... I spent $20 on a combo at Subway, just me, by myself.
Zack: Yeah, I'm pretty out on
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Me and Morgan me and morgan both ate Firehouse last night for $22 with drinks and chips.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I mean, come on.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So big, big Firehouse Subs guy over here. doesn't hurt that they are their headquarters is based out of Jacksonville, so you know I'm trying to support my guys down in the 904.
Zack: You always got to support the guys.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Always supporting. All right. And then my second press release, fresh off the desk of Tense. This is just a personal press release. i so I'm a big milkshake guy, big ice cream guy in general.
Zack: you
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: love Love ice cream. Probably might try to go get some ice cream tonight after this pod, if I'm being honest. um i'm I'm only doing basic flavor milkshakes from now on.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No more add-ins on the milkshakes.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No more ice cream that has 10 other things in it in my milkshake. I just want and one they one flavor without the adds.
Zack: One flavor.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: like I don't want a cookie dough milkshake because I'm just sucking up cookie dough.
Zack: okay
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't want it with a bunch of Reese's Pieces and brownies and or no, none of it.
Zack: So you're kind of saying like so I need my blizzards and my milkshakes separate.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They got separate.
Zack: If I want chunks, it's a blizzard.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Right. Ice cream in a cup.
Zack: If want be able to drink it with a straw, it's a milkshake.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's a milkshake. Vanilla, chocolate. Even even the strawberries. There's a blurred line there with the Lazy Cow Creamery yesterday. Shout out. Cookville special.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Macy got the strawberry ice cream. i was like, dad tax. I want a sip of that. See if I like it.
Zack: Yep. Yep.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Big old strawberry came up. I'm like, I just want to drink this. I just want to drink the milkshake. I don't want to eat the milkshake.
Zack: I agree.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm not in the mood to eat. I'm in the mood to drink.
Zack: Wow. ah that So is that a big indictment on the cookout community?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think so. I think cookout.
Zack: you have You have some cookout ties.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I do. I'm famously tied to cookout. um I love a good cookout.
Zack: You may recognize him from cookout in the Lebanon area.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, you may have seen me. You may have seen me running around trying to manage one of the worst cookouts in Middle Tennessee.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That is a known fact. That is one of the worst ones. You go there to die, they say.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And I did. I worked there for a year and I quit with no notice. I just walked out one day. I said, I'm done with this. That happens a lot.
Zack: cookout. Lebanon cookout.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's all right. That's fine. They know they're bad.
Zack: I'm sure he did it fine. Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um But yeah, I think I just went basic... I'm not saying like like an Oreo milkshake. That's too much. I don't want the broken up Oreos. But like a peanut butter fudge, that's fine.
Zack: Okay,
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Because those are drinkable things.
Zack: I'm with you.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No more big chunks of things in the milkshakes.
Zack: think that's fair.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Also, shout out banana splits. Those things are great.
Zack: Big ice cream guy today.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: bit Oh, dude.
Zack: I can tell you're wanting ice cream.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I've been... i've been I've been having a lot of ice cream. It's been the summer of ice cream.
Zack: Yeah, it's very seasonal for me as well. like, man, ice cream sounds great because it's 85 degrees outside and it's hot.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: If it's a yeah it's above
Zack: It's like, oh, man, that would hit.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: it's above 80 degrees, I need ice cream.
Zack: Yeah, it's fair.
Zack: OK.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But those are the two those are two things newsworthy from the desk of tents.
Zack: That's big stuff right there.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Big announcements.
Zack: Soft drinks and milkshakes.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: What else do you need?
Zack: OK. Well, we do have some football talk today as well. We got some stuff cooking. Tens has a couple of big futures. I feel great about them on them.
Zack: I think they're auto wins. Tens, I know you got a couple NFL teams that are on the clock in your mind.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: can't lose. so Yeah.
Zack: What do you got?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: All right. So, We're going to start out with one, since Zach said on the clock, this team is going to be the first team on the clock after the football season's over. That's the Miami Dolphins, guys.
Zack: Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Plus 2,000 to have the worst record in the NFL. Here are a couple reasons why I truly think this could happen. You've got ah GM and coach who know if this season goes bad, they're fired.
Zack: huh
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Ownership's going to start over. You've got just a terrible... The GM did a terrible job letting letting certain players walk in this free agency, trading away Jalen Ramsey for next to nothing, Johnnie Smith next to nothing, two all-pro players from last season.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um you went You have so many holes all over the team, and their first-round draft pick was a nose tackle out of um Michigan. He's a great player, but a nose tackle is not going to bump up your win total one way or the other. He's just going to be a solid – piece to stopping the run that's not gonna do enough to make this team go over the hump this team has a top 10 hardest strength of schedule i think they fall at ninth um your whole starting secondary from last year is gone after trading jalen ramsey and your starting corner towards acl last week in practice and you are a to a
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Tunga Valhalla hit away, ah bad hit away from Zach Wilson being your starting quarterback.
Zack: Not good.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I cannot stress that point enough. ah Zach Wilson is one injury away from being a starting quarterback once again in the NFL. I just, this team has like mid season, things are not going well. It's higher kill is already, mean, he's he tweeted at the end of last year, like I'm out of here.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um,
Zack: Oh.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There's been friction between him and the head coach and Tua all training camp. They've been taking shots at each other in in all of their press conferences. This team just has the – it's like a ticking time bomb to me, and I think it's going to blow up in the middle of the season, and it's just going to – like McDaniels can get fired the middle of the year, the GM knows he's out, and they're just going to punt on this year and start over.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So at plus 2,000 –
Zack: so
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: with that hard of a schedule with two, uh, injury history being what it is and their offensive line being egregiously bad. Um, I just don't see like the popular pick is the saints.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think they'll be okay. They've got a pretty easy schedule. Like there's, there's more like, the The Dolphins have talent. Yes, Tyra Hill's good. Jalen Waddle's good. Their running backs are are fine. But I just think this team has a lot of holes and could easily kind of look at themselves in the middle of the season go, oh, we're one in five. Like, we're done.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We're tapped out. Players start tapping out. And at plus 2,000, I think it's worth that kind of money.
Zack: I like it. I took it already. Tens there. There are eight teams with better odds to be the fewest wins.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yes.
Zack: Do you think you can name them?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Yeah, let's go. Let's go. Saints, Jets, Raiders,
Zack: hu Yeah. plus 1400.
Zack: Panthers plus 1400.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Panthers.
Zack: panthers plus fourteen hundred
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Is that four?
Zack: There's two AFC South teams on this list.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Titans and Colts.
Zack: Correct.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I know the Jags are right after that offense at 2,500.
Zack: That is correct as well. So there's three and that's all in the bottom 10. That's not great.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Browns.
Zack: Browns plus 400.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: See, the Browns, I think, are fine.
Zack: The best odds.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They have elite defense. They want to run the ball.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think Shador is going to be fine. I'm not even this from his
Zack: You think he's going to start?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: from his I think he starts after a few games.
Zack: Oh, wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think Joe, I think Joe Flacco is the starter and and he's fine too. i mean, he's, he's solid at this age. He's, he fits well in that offense. I mean, he took them to the playoffs a couple of years ago.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um, but yeah, I think Shador is fine. I like Shador. I think he should have been drafted higher than he was.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think the off the field stuff is just a little annoying for teams, but I think Shador is a fine quarterback. Um, So I don't think they'll have the worst record. i think though I don't think they're going good or anything, but I think they win like six or seven games probably.
Zack: Okay, one.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Giants are probably up on the list maybe.
Zack: That's the last team. Yep, that was the last one.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Giants, yeah. I kind of feel the same way.
Zack: You got him.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The Giants' defense is really good. um And they'll they'll probably – I think Jackson Dart is going to be – like Russell Wilson, they'll probably have him in there until the middle of the season and then let Jackson take over.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But mean, it's plus 2,000. I'm not saying go put your life savings on it. I just think I just am trying to find value in team like the Dolphins that have so many holes that are one bad hit from their quarterback away from Zach Wilson. It's like, why would I not at plus 2,000 take that?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think that's really good value.
Zack: um So then also the team with the worst odds to have the few swings, Buffalo Bills, plus 80,000.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, favorite.
Zack: plus' eighty thousand
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, their favorite in the Super Bowl right now, i was really high on the Bills last year.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't know. Their division got tougher. I think the Patriots are going to be better. I'm not talking about the Patriots today for a future. probably will next week. I've got two that I'm looking at. um But they're team I like.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think the Jets got better. They're still not going very good with Justin Fields. and then But, yeah, the Dolphins obviously are in that division, and they're terrible. But the Bills didn't get significantly better in my mind to be now the Super Bowl favorites over a team like the Eagles, Chiefs, or or Ravens.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: lot of Bills hype. and mason Mason sent it to us. The Bills have the highest percentage of Super Bowl tickets this season.
Zack: Lot of Bills hype.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's not stock I'm buying this year.
Zack: They're tied with the Ravens plus 600. Super Bowl.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, at plus 600, that's just not. ah value There's no value in that.
Zack: There's a pretty clear top four, though. Bills, Ravens at 600, Eagles at 700, Chiefs 850. After that, it's Lions 1100, Commanders 1800. gets...
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: after that it's lines at eleven hundred commanders at eighteen hundred and gets The gap gets wide after that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. That makes sense, really.
Zack: It's not a shock.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Those are top four.
Zack: Yeah, it's not a shock.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And honestly, why would you not take the Eagles? Because they i just feel like the NFC is just not as... deep or as strong as the AFC. Those top three in the AFC are tough. they're gonna you know It's going to be who those three get don't have to play the the other two.
Zack: Yeah, that's true.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Because there will be a playoff matchup where two of those teams will probably they'll have to play each other.
Zack: And then probably the two will play in the AFC Championship.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, for being honest.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So, AFC's tough.
Zack: Very interesting.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The Eagles... Because I'm about – so my second pick here is, yeah, is going into the NFC.
Zack: Yeah, it's a good transition here.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We're staying – talking about the NFC. is The Lions' win total is 10.5. It's a half team that won 12 – or no, they won 15 games last year.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um I'm taking under 10.5 wins.
Zack: Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They went from number 17, strength of schedule, last season. Now they're all the way up to number three, third hardest schedule in the league. i I put a lot of stock in the strength of schedule.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um This system has – like the last three years, the team that has the hardest schedule has picked in the top three. Like they've had a top three pick.
Zack: Huh.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It is reflected on the season. This factors in how much travel you have, um how much rest do you get between games as far as playing on Mondays, Thursdays, Sundays.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And the Lions being a primetime team, they're going to have a lot of these weird games, you know not just Thanksgiving anymore. I think they play on Christmas Day. They have a couple Monday night games. um These are harder schedule games that messes with your normal flow of no practice schedules and all of that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: On top of the fact that you lost both coordinators, you lost a key piece of your front office who went with Aaron Glenn to the Jets to be his new GM. And then you lost a lot of your position coaches too.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um, your defensive line coach is gone. He went with Ben Johnson. Big strength of that team was that pass rush. Um, they did keep their offensive line coach, which that was good.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's one of the best in the league, but you lost the key veteran player in your, in your center. Um, I can't pronounce his name rags rags now who had been there for a really long time. Really good center.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The center is the key part of the offensive line. He's making all the shifts, makes a lot of calls where, you know, the line's supposed to shift and block and all this mumbo jumbo, but it's hard to put in a new center. He's a rookie.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I drafted him out of Georgia. So I'm sure he's good. He's a very talented player, but you lose that continuity that you've had with that offensive line for so long. Um, you have this new much harder strength of schedule and no one's, no one's like going to be surprised anymore.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You're, you're the team that has been good now two years in a row. You're not sneaking up on anybody. You're going everybody's best punch every game day. Um, 10 and a half wins.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think, I think they win 10. I think they're going to win 10 and we'll still win.
Zack: Rioting.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. That's, that's that first game against the green Bay. um is going to be the big kind of like test for me eyeball test where I'm like, all right, if they come out here and just absolutely roll the Packers, then I'm going a little bit more nervous.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um But, and this, this is a future. ah put a full unit on it. It was minus one 20. um So under 10 and a half, if you want to get it a little bit of plus, I looked, I think you can get it at plus 100 for them to win exactly 10 games, but yeah.
Zack: Plus 100? That doesn't feel like great value. Yeah, I've got minus 130 right now for under 10 and a half.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's not. 410 F. Okay. Wow. That's keeps getting worse. um I might want to parlay it with another win total. If you, if you would like, um but I just, I just think their, their schedule has gotten harder they lost so much on the coaching staff.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: that 10 wins, I mean, 10 wins is still a good season, but you do see these teams normally drop after a season like they had last year with 15 wins. That's a lot. Deep playoff run.
Zack: yeah
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There's going to be a coming down to earth kind of thing here. And I think 10 wins, still good season. They'll probably still win that division. um But that's tough.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I didn't like hearing minus 130 just now, be honest.
Zack: change a little bit it's all fine
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Still worth it. paired up Pair it up with your favorite team's win total, get you plus money, and then you got something to root for.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: pair it up with Zach's win totals right here in college.
Zack: Wow, what transition, Tins.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: What a transition.
Zack: Okay, so yeah, we are we are talking about four SEC teams then as a quick transition to college today. ah These are some middle-of-the-pack SEC programs. And so ah these are maybe the the highest volatility on our list, the highest...
Zack: Um, it does feel like one or two of them have a potential to win like nine games and some of them have a potential to kind of really blow it and lose some big games. Uh, and so we had some really interesting teams to talk about. I'm going to try and keep it a little more tight because we have four teams to go through here. So, um, but we are going to break down a little bit of their schedule, talk about their strength of schedule and what it looks like, and then give, give our prediction for the over under. So let's start with, um,
Zack: This team has been talked about a lot. That would be South Carolina. It's been talked about a lot because they ended the season last year on a six-game winning streak, beating Clemson, barely missing the playoff. ah they They turned into a formidable team with a very good defensive presence, special defensive line.
Zack: Lenora Sellers became a star and He is one of the most exciting kind of Heisman hopefuls, ah returning quarterbacks in the SEC this season. So South Carolina, over under seven and a half, as with all of these teams.
Zack: Let's just dive into their schedule a little bit and and kind of see what is going on and what they have to contend with schedule-wise. um So our non-conference team,
Zack: is uh here here's a list of non-conference games we've got virginia tech south carolina state coastal carolina and clemson um obviously the one there that is going to stick out immediately is clemson that they they will play that at the very end of the season uh really feels like it could be a make or break team for that for the south carolina team uh feels like a spot where I don't know. It's very, it's a very interesting game because if both, if both Clemson and Clemson has got a lot of hype going into the season right now, if South Carolina can get to like nine wins by then, that game all of a sudden becomes, um, game of the year type territory, uh, South Carolina and fighting for a playoff spot, things like that. So that's pretty exciting stuff.
Zack: Um, The Clemson games are interesting. Seth Conn obviously won it last year, and so Clemson is looking for revenge. with um what a lot of people are considering a much um much more put-together team in Clemson.
Zack: wait so Let's talk about their ah there's their strength of schedule in the SEC now. I have them ranked as... Let me see exactly where they rank in the terms of the SEC strength of schedule.
Zack: I have them... Right in the middle. they're They're almost dead center in the middle of the strength of schedule. So it's it's definitely not an easy schedule, but there are worse ones out there.
Zack: ah Let's break it down. They start off their SEC schedule with hosting Vanderbilt. I'm going to give them that win right there. So there's one.
Zack: They're traveling to Missouri. We're going to talk about Missouri today as well. Missouri is one of the, in my mind, a very interesting team ah that I honestly just have no idea what they're going look like.
Zack: um I think they have, they have a quarterback situation is in flux right now. We're talking about them a little more in a second. um but Let's call it a loss just, just for the sake of conversation here.
Zack: ah They're going to LSU. I'm just going to go ahead and call that one a loss as well. Hosting Oklahoma.
Zack: That one is very interesting because is that true? They're hosting Oklahoma. For some reason, I thought they know they're going to Oklahoma. I'm sorry.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: say Oklahoma's got a bad away schedule if they're going South Carolina.
Zack: yeah I think they hosted Oklahoma last year. Okay, so they're going to Oklahoma. They play Alabama away. They know they are playing Alabama at home.
Zack: And then they're going to Ole Miss to Texas A&M. So they have some games that are definitely winnable. Going to Oklahoma is going to be tricky, I think, especially if Oklahoma team turns out to be what it's going to be, what people are talking like it might be.
Zack: um Alabama is never going to be. that's That's obviously the Iron Bowl, and so that's a huge one. That game is is very tough, but it's in Auburn at least.
Zack: um And then they're going to Texas A&M to finish the season.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: trust stuff sketch sounds tough just
Zack: I mean, um most of them are going to... Yeah, most of them sound tough at this point just because of what they are.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah yeah
Zack: But wonder if I didn't accidentally pull last year's schedule for Auburn. um regardless, they do play all of those teams. So just one more time, because I think I might've pulled the wrong schedule.
Zack: They're going to Oklahoma. They're going to Texas A&M. They're hosting Georgia, hosting Missouri, going to Arkansas, hosting Kentucky to Vanderbilt, and then they're hosting Bama.
Zack: Okay. So I am going to
Zack: Tins. What are your thoughts? Before I say what my thoughts, what are your thoughts in South Carolina here?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um, I don't love that schedule at all, uh, for seven and a half wins. Uh, just as you were saying, I counted four wins. I gave them as far as in the sec.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um, so yeah, um I think I'm going to go under. I don't like it. Um, sellers is getting a lot of hype.
Zack: Oh, shoot.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I mean, I, I bet him to win the Heisman. He's getting a lot of Jen Daniel comparisons. Um,
Zack: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think that's a little too far. But I do think he's a very good player. But, yeah, that schedule feels tough. I feel like they're seven-win team probably with that schedule.
Zack: Uh,
Zack: ah I don't know. That's the thing is can Lenore, can Lenore sellers, uh, overcome, um, can you, could, could they go?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Elevate them to when games are not supposed to win.
Zack: okay Now I've really jacked this up. Um, cause I read the wrong schedule again. My schedules are running together.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Hey.
Zack: It's what you do when you give 16 schedules to juggle. Um, Okay, just SEC really fast. Hosting Vanderbilt, going to Missouri, hosting Kentucky, going to LSU, hosting Oklahoma, going to South Carolina, going to Ole Miss.
Zack: Okay, yep. And going to A&M, and then they play c Clemson at the end. So I'm going to...
Zack: yeah I think I'm going to go...
Zack: Man, I really want to go over because I feel like they're gonna win some games they shouldn't just because of quarterback play. You know what? I'm going to go over. Eight wins.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Plus, it's like plus 150, I think. I just, I had just looked at it.
Zack: Oh, the over is? That's kind of scary.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: I don't know. if They're one of those teams where I would just not be shocked if they were pushing for a playoff again. I think they've got the talent. They've got kind of the juice. and they They play a tough, tough, tough schedule.
Zack: Yeah.
Zack: You're going to win one of those you have to win either Oklahoma or Bama, probably.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They're at, or LSU.
Zack: and you're going to have to beat either Missouri or Ole Miss Texas A&M on the road.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: mean, that's kind of where it's at.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: so
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. The under is minus 165. Yeah.
Zack: Oh, no. Well, I didn't know that. I'm sticking to it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah
Zack: I'm going over.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I like it.
Zack: um
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think i think you're right.
Zack: Old prediction.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think Sellers has a couple of those moments and they win a game the word that that we just don't think they're going to. See, I have them beating Oklahoma. I'm pretty down. i'm I'm as low on Oklahoma as you can get.
Zack: Yeah, see, there's some people who are very high on Oklahoma. Oklahoma is a polarizing team, I think, right now.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: that That's fine.
Zack: um
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um
Zack: Because the quarterback question is is so big there.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i'm I'm down on Venables. I said he would get fired before Billy Napier. And that's still...
Zack: Here they both are still. Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: they both stuff i thought they'd both get fired last year. But I said Napier was going to last longer.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I could still be right.
Zack: Yeah.
Zack: a lot of people are hyped on Oklahoma because of the John Mateer situation.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: For sure.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah I don't even know who that guy is. I've never bet on him before.
Zack: Again from Washington state.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Exactly.
Zack: Okay, so another interesting one. Let's go ahead and move to here because we went from a very solid quarterback situation to a very up-in-the-air one. That would be at Missouri. Eli Drinkwitz coming off of a good season where they lost their quarterback to the NFL.
Zack: Now you have a quarterback battle, Bo Perbula and Sam Horn. ah From what I understand, it's it's kind of like Tennessee's. It's very up in the air still.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's a bad quarterback battle if you hear those two names.
Zack: Tens? Yeah.
Zack: It's not great. Yeah, I just... I think they have a lot of question marks right now. Their schedule, like Tennessee, going talk about Tennessee next week, is very favorable.
Zack: Missouri and Tennessee both have, by and large, the easiest SEC schedules and the easiest out-of-conference schedules as well. So here is Missouri's out-of-conference schedule.
Zack: Central Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, and UMass. I mean, that's four wins pretty much guaranteed. You know, Kansas?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think you're sleeping on Kansas, Zach.
Zack: Oh, man.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Truthfully, you are Kansas has turned themselves into a respectable program.
Zack: That would be fun.
Zack: Sure. Okay, so maybe not an auto win there. i think it's I think Missouri will certainly be favored in that game, right?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I would um would assume so, yeah.
Zack: um
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I would hope so, for the SEC's sake.
Zack: But yes, okay. maybe not Maybe not an auto win for sure.
Zack: So then, After that, here is your SEC schedule. You're hosting South Carolina. We just talked about South Carolina. I think the game is could be like a coin flip. I think that's going very interesting in ah in a big game.
Zack: ah Alabama at home. you You're hosting Alabama as well. You're going to Auburn. That's a game that I think if you're Missouri, you really want to win.
Zack: You're going to Vandy. I think you win that. You're hosting Texas A&M. You're hosting Mississippi State. You are going to Oklahoma. You're going to Arkansas.
Zack: So what you just heard is a schedule that has ah three of the bottom four teams. And... You're playing Arkansas on the road. That's one of your away games. You're playing Vandy on the That's one of your away games. So think to feel pretty good about that.
Zack: And it's you don't have Georgia or Texas on your schedule either. So that's another big win. You have to play Alabama, obviously. But um honestly, a very, very favorable schedule for Missouri here.
Zack: 7.5 is the over-under. um i went ahead and gave them Kansas, even though I know... It's not necessarily an auto win.
Zack: You have Vandy, Mississippi State, and let's go ahead give them Arkansas. And so, boy, are we looking at like you need one more somewhere. South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Texas a and m Oklahoma.
Zack: On the road to Oklahoma.
Zack: That South Carolina out game could could be the difference maker. um Or Texas A&M. um Missouri just gives me this vibe of just like a. yeah Can you do you know what the odds are on that over under 10s? OK.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I hear what you're saying and I'm looking at it too. And i don't, cause these odds don't match up. I think we might, we might need to like hammer this, but it's over seven and a half wins is plus one 20 under is minus one 40.
Zack: okay
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I
Zack: i think the quarterback I think the quarterback battle is a problem.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah went into this thinking under,
Zack: um But you you feel like as long as they could beat, they just need one of them. you know They're going to Auburn, but the Auburn team's a little bit on the rocks. You're going to Oklahoma, but then you're hosting South Carolina, Alabama, and Texas A&M.
Zack: You feel like there could be a win in one of those three.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: I feel like Missouri just tends to win one of those.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I feel like, I mean, i'm I'm not big on Arkansas. I'm not big on Oklahoma. Those are two games that could win. Like their hardest test all year Texas A&M and Alabama.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's crazy. This schedule is crazy. This this schedule is crazy.
Zack: It's the softest schedule, I think. Tennessee's, going to talk about, is almost equally as soft, even though Tennessee's has some more top-end um They play a lot at the bottom of the conference, but they also play so Georgia and Alabama. so i and You know I think I agree with Tins. I think we're going to play the plus money on this again. i think we're going to go with the over.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I just don't see where –
Zack: I don't really like it. I don't like it. But that's that's playing the schedule, not the team.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah. That's a coach who's been there for a while.
Zack: I don't really like the team.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's – right.
Zack: I don't like Eli Drinkwitz at all. But you just feel like...
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's been there a while. He's good at recruiting. he he's He's taken that program from being one of the more bottom SEC teams to higher of the middle of the pack. Like he's is solidly seven, eight wins a year.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: was in the playoff discussion even last year. Right? They were like undefeated for a while.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um mean i took their I took their over last year.
Zack: Yes.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I was really high on...
Zack: But they were like the quietest playoff because they lost a really bad game to kind of kick them out or else they were going to steal a playoff spot from a good team.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Because I gave their over last year.
Zack: Apart from Tennessee, honestly.
Zack: Okay, so what we're at what what I'm actually finding as we talk through these is a lot of these four teams are playing each other, which is what makes it very interesting.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: um Because the four teams are Texas A&M, Auburn, South Carolina, and Missouri. And going to see them pop up on each other's schedules a lot. Like ah this team, Texas A&M, actually plays all three of those opponents.
Zack: So we're talking about some games that are – so you're talking about one or two or three games kind of – being the hinge points on whether this over-under is going to hit. Let's talk about Texas A&M right now. Texas A&M, so their first, they have three non-conference games. I'm just going to count as the kind of auto wins. u UTSA, Utah State, and Samford.
Zack: The unfortunate piece is that their fourth non-conference game is Notre Dame. Notre Dame plays Arkansas and Texas A&M this season.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Join a conference.
Zack: Pretty interesting stuff.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Seems like you want to be in the SEC.
Zack: It seems like they kind of do, but they don't want to play nine SEC games. They would rather play two.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: Cowards. So they have, I'm going count those three wins. in Notre Dame, I'm not sure about that one. That one doesn't feel very good for Texas A&M, but who knows? ah So let's go the rest of their schedule. Like I said, it's ah it's ah it's a pretty runnable schedule.
Zack: um
Zack: We have, they're hosting Auburn. hosting Mississippi State, hosting Florida. So their first three SEC games are all at home. um They have a pretty good home advantage.
Zack: That Florida game particularly interesting. I think that's one of those where it's in a tough environment at Texas A&M, but Florida, I think if Florida is going to have a successful year, they have to win that game.
Zack: ah Florida can't, with Florida's schedule, they can't lose Texas A&M and feel like they've when i can make a playoff or can compete deep into the season. ah They're going to Arkansas. They're going to LSU, going to Missouri.
Zack: They're hosting South Carolina, and they're going to Texas.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Thank you.
Zack: So they only play one of those top three, which is Texas there at the very end of the season ah rivalry game. But the rest of their schedule um is a lot of those mid-tier to low-tier teams that we've talked about already.
Zack: They've got LSU, but other than that, they don't have any teams that are that are projected more than the seven and a half over under, uh, other than LSU and Texas.
Zack: So the other six are all seven and a half or lower, which is why they're over under is 7.5 games. So I'm going to not give them Notre Dame. Uh, I'm just going to assume Notre Dame is going going to win that.
Zack: Um, I don't really like that, but here we are. And so ah this is where it gets interesting. I'm counting MSU. Mississippi State is a win. I'm going count Arkansas as a win.
Zack: going to count. So that's five.
Zack: um Let's go ahead and cook count Auburn as a win. So they're hosting Auburn. and I think they're going to have a big home field advantage. Let's count that as six. um So it comes down to it's going to come down to Missouri, South Carolina.
Zack: At Missouri, South Carolina at home.
Zack: They had to win both of them, though, to hit their over.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Their over has moved on DraftKings.
Zack: What is it now?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's an 8.5.
Zack: Really? what's the What's the line?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: Wow. Wow.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Plus 150.
Zack: and
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Plus 150 to go over, but minus 180.
Zack: for
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So this just moved. This just for the odds to be like that. Essentially, they kept getting bet at 7.5 over. over
Zack: wow
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: to where Jaff King said, we have to move, we moved it. Because they they believe they're an eight-win team. That's what that tells you right there.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't see eight anyway.
Zack: Yeah, if it's eight and a half, what's the under? It's what minus what?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: 180.
Zack: Oh, that's unbettable.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You could find it, you could find it at FanDuel.
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: e
Zack: Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Still the seven and a half, but it's used to be hot.
Zack: um Yeah, I'm taking under that then. I would take under eight and a half for sure.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, for sure.
Zack: Maybe it's a no bet, but I'm taking under it. I don't think they're winning nine games. There's not nine wins on that schedule.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: did you but How did you feel about seven these You feel like they're an 8-win team? Like that's their ceiling?
Zack: not I was going to say seven wins potentially because i they're going to lose Notre Dame. I think they're to Texas. That's two losses just kind of off the rip.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: And then they're they're going.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: They have South Carolina, LSU, Missouri, Florida. which ah That Florida game is going to be big ah for both programs, I think. It's kind of a turning point game for both teams.
Zack: I don't know. For them to get to nine wins, they'd have to beat.
Zack: One of, or they'd really have to win all those games but one. i don't know. I don't really believe it. I don't believe in nine wins for sure, so I would take the under on that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, i had to have just moved.
Zack: That made that easier for me um because and didn't really like eight and a half that much.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yes
Zack: I didn't i didn't really like eight that much.
Zack: okay moving on uh last one that we're gonna talk about today is auburn um and auburn like i said has a couple of those same teams on the schedule which makes it interesting um one of the difference auburn has a pretty soft non-conference they do play all they do play baylor in the first week of the season the pretty interesting big 12 match up there um
Zack: New quarterback for Auburn, obviously, Jackson Arnold coming over from Oklahoma. um I think they are trying to generate some offense in ah and a and a team that was pretty bad last year.
Zack: um Auburn really struggled. ah So going to give them all four of those non-conference games wins. Baylor, Ball State, South Alabama, and Mercer.
Zack: So congrats, Auburn. You have four wins off the bat. um Let's see what the rest of your schedule looks like. ah This is one of those schedules. So they're going to Oklahoma.
Zack: They're going to Texas A&M. Hosting Georgia. Hosting Missouri. Going to Arkansas. Hosting Kentucky. Going to Vandy. And they're hosting Alabama.
Zack: So I'm going to go ahead and count Kentucky and Vandy as wins. So that's six.
Zack: After that, it gets much trickier. um
Zack: Jackson Arnold is player we saw last year play pretty poorly. I'm not sure there's a lot of evidence.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Very ployish.
Zack: from I've heard some things that sound like the same things that was happening at Oklahoma is happening at Auburn currently. um So I'm not really convinced that there's they've made some huge jumps there in Jackson Arnold's development.
Zack: Hugh Freeze is kind of in a... in a year where if he, if he gets the six wins, he's probably going to be fired. Um, but I'm taking the under here.
Zack: They under seven and a half. I just don't, I don't believe in this team at all. Really? i don't believe in he frees. just, I don't really believe in Jackson Arnold. There's Lenore sellers has something about him. Makes you feel like he could win a couple of games off of his play. I think Jackson Arnold has a couple has could lose a couple of games based on his play.
Zack: Um, I just don't see this Auburn team beating a team like even like Missouri or even like Texas A&M. I just feel like they're they're at that bottom of that seven and a half rung.
Zack: I think they're worse than those teams. I think they could get to six wins for sure, and then the seventh win could be elusive to them. mean, they could be a six-win team, and I think we freeze, we'll get fired.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Do you want...
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Do you want... So, you're the plus tonight.
Zack: Yeah, hit me with it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: you're the plus money guy tonight um Under I'm with you, though, as far have.
Zack: Oh, no. It's not good.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: think are. That's...
Zack: Oh, no.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: over seven and a auburn i'm with you though as far as
Zack: See, what did they – I don't understand how DraftKings – because I feel like I've – man, I've just been opposite, huh?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: you have
Zack: Maybe I'm onto something. Or maybe I'm dumb.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i think you are
Zack: I don't know. One of the two.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No, Jackson Arnold's terrible quarterback.
Zack: Yeah, he could be much better this year. I know that's the hope and at Auburn. I just haven't seen nothing that makes me feel like he could be like a really good quarterback that could lead a team, to be honest. so
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Same.
Zack: um Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I just don't see it.
Zack: There's too many kind of like games on there that I just don't see as – I don't see them being very competitive in. It's really easy to get to six wins, and then really hard to get to seven or eight.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: right
Zack: So, man, if I'm right, we can make some money, boys. got some plus money everywhere. So
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: what we like to see
Zack: so there you go. Okay, well, next week we now have we have two weeks left of this kind of exercise we've been doing. um Next week, we're going to have our eight and a half teams, which apparently Texas A&M is now an eight and a half team. Who knew?
Zack: ah We will have ah Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU. So we're kind of getting up into some interesting teams.
Zack: Tennessee, some people are calling a schedule merchant. um I think you'd be right. ah Tennessee is shouldn't be 8.5, but their schedule is very favorable.
Zack: ah And we got some but we got some big – the big boys will be coming up um the following week with our 9.5 over-unders, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama. so We are kind of climbing the rankings here and just some interesting teams that will probably be competing for the SC championship and playoff spots. So from here on out, we could be talking about some playoff playoff talk as well. Who who do we think is going to make it?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm very interested in the LSU breakdown.
Zack: Me too. I'm going to do i'm gonna to you some research this week because I think that they're a very interesting team. Yeah. A big game at the beginning of the season.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: ah They play.
Zack: Who is it that they play a big non-conference game, don't they?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Is it Clemson?
Zack: Yeah, it' be maybe it's not.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No. Yeah, it is Clemson. Yeah.
Zack: Hang on. Is it week one?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I feel like it was.
Zack: There's some very fun week one games. Yep, week one, August 30th. ah LSU, Clemson, and Texas, Ohio State. Like some potential playoff caliber matchups in week one.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: Fun stuff.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Get the season started hot
Zack: Although last year we had that and it didn't go very well.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It was not fun. Georgia beat Clemson like by 50.
Zack: Clemson, yeah, not good.
Zack: Clemson. We're not to talk about them deep dive, but they're they're one of the bigger stories in college football. A lot of people are jumping on the Clemson bandwagon pretty hard. You know what bag we're jumping
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: North Carolina.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: North Carolina. Don't think we forgot.
Zack: No, I've got on North Carolina. Serious money.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Real American dollars were wagered on North Carolina last week or the week before.
Zack: yeah
Zack: Yeah. Okay, Tim, you got anything else for us?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: no um I think that's it.
Zack: care oh Before we get on the bill Belichick train again If that works out it's gonna be our greatest take of that that would be like highlight though i would go find that clip Okay, well we We're excited.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. listen
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That would. Oh, yeah.
Zack: We got some more pieces in football. I think next week by next week. We'll start getting some more serious NFL talk And we will be moving on in some of our college football stuff to maybe talking some futures and conference championship ideas, things like that. So we got a lot, a lot to talk about before the season kicks off in three weeks from yesterday. So boy, we are in the countdown 20 days as of time of recording.
Zack: So we hope you guys have a great week. We will talk to you next time. See ya.
