Speaker: Hi friends, how are you today? It's great to be with you. My name is Brendan Thomas Marat. i am not numerically challenged.
Speaker: but but But on Zoom, I have uploaded Discipleship 2, but not Discipleship 1. So here is Discipleship 1. This is a 20-part series in which, basically, we're looking at the basics of the Word of God together.
Speaker: So in part two, we looked at the Gospel of Grace, the Gospel by which we have been saved, But in part one, we're looking at the start of all things at the beginning of the man and the woman, the beginning of sin and why the gospel is even necessary, why Jesus is even necessary, why the cross is even necessary.
Speaker: So this was done as a live stream. ah The record button did not work. So take two. Here goes something.
Speaker: All right, so the part one of the lesson, we'll be looking at Lucifer.
Speaker: Lucifer was Jesus' personal cherub assistant. Jesus is called the morning star in of Revelation 22, 16. Lucifer, meaning light bearer, the bearer of holiness, the bearer of revelation, light moment, is called morning star.
Speaker: is called the son of the morning in Isaiah 14, 12. He and Jesus had like a father-son relationship. They were that close. Lucifer was also the high priest of Jesus.
Speaker: Consider the stones that he was covered in. Ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, beryl.
Speaker: They're the same stones that you find in the high priest of Israel's breastplate.
Speaker: What separated the cherub, Lucifer, from the others is that he was permitted to walk on the fiery stones and to reveal their messages.
Speaker: Ezekiel 28, 14 says, you were anointed as a guardian cherub. Now, Jesus does not need bodyguards. Hello, he's Jesus. But look, he doesn't need anything we do either. And he still chooses to. He's relational guard.
Speaker: For so I ordained you. So it was Satan. Or Lucifer was what he was, because God decided. You were on the holy mount of God. You walked among the fiery stones.
Speaker: What are fiery stones? Well, a stone on fire is called coal, right? And then Isaiah says,
Speaker: A coal was put on Isaiah's tongue, and basically it awakened his prophetic gift. An angel took a live coal in his hand, which he'd taken tongs from the altar, and he gave it to Isaiah.
Speaker: In Ezekiel 28, 14, it talks about Lucifer walking on those fiery stones. And he's also called the anointed cherub. Why?
Speaker: Because 1 John 2, 27... says that the anointing teaches you all things. So he was given a gift by God. He would walk in the fiery stones, pick them up, and he would prophesy.
Speaker: And how did he prophesy? Through worship. Because his heart was an instrument. Ezekiel 28, 13 says, the workmanship of your tambourines, timbrels, tabres, and of your pipes were created and over alone in gold the day I produced you. So he would fly up into the sky of heaven, or even inject himself into time, perhaps, and out would pop the revelation. Amen.
Speaker: However, but but you'll see Saruman the White Tear with his palanthia from The Lord of the Rings. He was corrupted in his heart based on what he saw in one of the revelation stones.
Speaker: What was that revelation? it was the coming of the man and the woman.
Speaker: Hebrews 2, 5 to 8 says, and furthermore, it is not angels who will control the future world we're talking about, but one, and angel, somewhere has testified, although the Greek word it also means earnestly protested. Hello, so not happy about this.
Speaker: What's man you're mindful of him? Or the son of man that you care for him? Yet for a little while, you've made them a little lower, teeny tiny bit lower than the angels and crown them with glory and honor and place everything under his feet.
Speaker: When God subjected all things to him, he left nothing outside of his control. Yet at present, we do not see everything subject to him. Who is the angel or the supernatural being, the Elohim who spoke this?
Speaker: Lucifer. You can find the full version of that prophecy, the psalm, in the book of Sam, chapter 8. It says, Lord our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory in the heavens.
Speaker: Through the praise of children and infants, you've established a stronghold against your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger. That is why the enemy delights in abortion and killing children, stealing their innocence, molesting them.
Speaker: Or like the Irish government right now 2024, a time of recording, trying to teach primary school children about fisting. if you don't know what that is, don't even Google it.
Speaker: Use your imagination and the first thing you picture. Yes, that's what it is. Or teaching impressionable adolescents and teenagers that they can have, you know, a two spirit or multiple genders, an infant number of genders. Absolute nonsense. The enemy despises children of all ages, even infants, because the power of life and death is even in their tongue. And even they can scare away demons.
Speaker: There were no demons when Lucifer prophesied this. There's prophecy, he's proclaiming the future. not realizing he was proclaiming his own future.
Speaker: When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place, what's mankind that you're mindful of them? Humans, that you care for them?
Speaker: You've made them a little lower than the angels, and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands. You put everything under their feet.
Speaker: All flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds of the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord and Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
Speaker: That is called a compliment sandwich, or an insult sandwich. Two names, same thing. Give a compliment. Attack, attack, attack, and attack, attack. Give a compliment. Hello.
Speaker: Now you'll notice here Lucifer is saying that livestock are under humans, wild animals are under humans, flying things are under humans, and things that live in the waters are under humans.
Speaker: It's very similar to Genesis 1 26, when God actually creates humans and puts all things under us. Only God adds one an extra thing to the list. All the creeping things, the demons.
Speaker: Why would Lucifer not have added them to the list? but but Because they hadn't existed yet, but soon after this, yeah boy they did. And he became the king of them.
Speaker: In the Hebrew, listen to how this verse ends.
Speaker: What is mankind? What is bloodthirsty? A servant, a chap, stranger a mortal, desperately sick, incurable, woeful, feeble, wicked, frail, melancholy. Hello.
Speaker: And human beings, Adam, Adam, red, ruddy to show blood in the face,
Speaker: Blood was a concept that angels hadn't understood by that stage, if they even fully get it now. um But he saw these blood beings running around the earth, ruling and reigning, and he was disgusted. Because he thought he, being over Laine in gold on the inside and precious jewels in his exterior, should have been the god of of the earth.
Speaker: And in the Greek, look at how it translates. Mankind includes male and female, so women who say, God hates women, God's a misogynist.
Speaker: Shut up, cows. Look at what the word of God says, yeah? Pay more attention to God than Simone de Beauvoir. Hello. If you've got too much time to read in that fourth wave feminist prep, you've got too much time in your hands and you don't have time to complain.
Speaker: Read a Bible, for goodness sakes. All right, so the notion of weakness by which man is led into mistake or prompted to sin. The adjunct notion of contempt and exorcist commiseration. Like Satan was sorry for us. Like, oh, little humans, how terrible for them all.
Speaker: For scorn, for scorn. Yeah, good one.
Speaker: So because Lucifer saw the coming of the man and the woman... And he saw that he would only ever be God's staff. But we would be his family.
Speaker: We would rule and reign on the earth. He was disgusted. So he went around heaven talking and manipulating and earnestly protesting.
Speaker: And you know what? A lot of the beings of heaven, angels, seraphim, cherubim, living creatures, agreed with him. And they said, yeah, you know what? We've been around longer.
Speaker: Humans don't even exist yet. Why should they run the shop? Why should they get a world of Rome? It's nonsense. Absolute nonsense. And so they decided to rebel against the Lord. And it says here in Genesis 1-2 that before there was land, there was water.
Speaker: And Luke 10, 18 talks about how Jesus dealt with Lucifer and the angels who sided with him. He fired a lightning bolt at them and kicked them out of heaven.
Speaker: So basically, zap, just think of Emperor Palpatine and Lord of Rings, not Lord of the Rings, forgive me, Star Wars. Absolute power! And all of a sudden...
Speaker: the angels turned demons fell into the primeval waters of the earth where they probably just felt like they were drowning all day long.
Speaker: So thrown into the waters of the primordial earth, many of these demons took on what, in the natural, you would call marine or reptile or aquatic life features.
Speaker: This is what we mean and deliverance ministry when we talk about marine spirits or the marine kingdom. Demon that live in the water or look like they've just come from the water. Especially in dreams, they're very, very common.
Speaker: Like having dreams of crocodiles and likes. It's probably one recurring images people come to me with when they look for dream interpretation.
Speaker: And what did they do there? Did they just swim around having the time of their lives? Hell no. Genesis 1-2 says, Now the earth was formless and empty.
Speaker: Darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Not water. Waters. What did that mean?
Speaker: Primeval waters? Waste? Urine? Semen? The Hebrew word can also be translated as a vulgar word for urine that I will not pronounce on this channel, but you can look it up in the Strong's Dictionary yourselves.
Speaker: It gives you an idea of what exactly they were doing um when they got chucked out of heaven. Because the word of God says that righteous acts are a fragrance aroma in God's nose was like perfume.
Speaker: So therefore, sinful acts, well, it's it's it's waste. It's urine. It's absolute. It's it's disgusting. And it is tangible.
Speaker: You know, sin leaves a crimson stain. But the blood of Jesus washes all things white as snow. um Even demon.
Speaker: Maybe they were trying to create their own human, which would actually make a lot of sense. Not something i we're going to look at in detail today. But in in Isaiah 14, the enemy, the devil, does prophesy that he will create the Antichrist. He will create a man um who will be exalted over all the stars of heaven. So it's possible that even then they try to create an Antichrist to rule the physical world through.
Speaker: But that's a heavy topic we'll look at another time.
Speaker: But the good thing with the word of God is no matter how bad things get, and this is true for today as well, in 2024, the Lord always has a contingency plan. And it was you and it was me.
Speaker: The human race were created to push back against the darkness. Amen.
Speaker: Genesis 1-1 says, in the beginning, Jesus created the heavens and the earth. Now it says God in Genesis, but in John 1, it tells you that the word of God, who is Jesus, is the one who created all things. All things are created through him.
Speaker: the word of God goes on to say all things are held together because of him. If not for Jesus, reality would collapse. Now, when we think of the creation of all that is we often think of something here, like on the screen, like this picture.
Speaker: God.
Speaker: God bless me. I thought I was going to sneeze there. Thank you, Jesus. You know, God being ridiculously big, just having supersized hands, creating all that is. Isaiah 40, 12 says the opposite.
Speaker: It says, who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hands? and marked off the heavens with a span of a hand, and calculated the dust of the earth with a measure, and weighed the mountains in a balance, and the hills in a pair of scales.
Speaker: When it talks about marking off the heavens with a span of a hand, that is a three-inch span. The distance between your thumb and your index finger.
Speaker: That means that Jesus was human-sized. if There were probably heavenly creatures bigger than him. He was very humble when he did this. But he was human-sized, did this, whoop!
Speaker: Reality existed.
Speaker: It was just phenomenal. In fact, he may even have been that size before he even created angels, seraphim, terubim, and living creatures. He's all-powerful, but he has nothing to prove.
Speaker: And incredible creation power of the Lord Jesus Christ is reaffirmed in John 1, 1-5, John 8, 12, Revelation 22, 13, and Colossians 1, 15-17. They all talk the incredible power of Jesus. the first human Jesus created fifteen to seventeen they all talk about the incredible power of jesus
Speaker: and the verse human that jesus createds is Adam or Adam, but I do not live in Israel. going to say Adam. There's a first Adam, and Jesus is called the last Adam, not the second, the last.
Speaker: Hmm, what's the connection between Adam and Jesus? Let's have a look.
Speaker: The first Adam of Genesis was created underground. Psalm 139, 14 to 18 talks about Jesus is making Adam in his underground workshop.
Speaker: It says, in the bowels of the earth, you formed me. No one else was around. No one else saw it. It was an invisible work, secret work. And he was formed. He was fearfully and he was wonderfully made.
Speaker: Job 33, 6 also talks about the man coming from the dust. How that's similar to Jesus? Because when he died, he was buried underground.
Speaker: The tomes in Jesus' day had steps leading underground, and the bodies were placed on shelves.
Speaker: Jesus came down and dug up the husk of Adam from the dirt. That's in Genesis 1 and 2. He comes down Maybe he had a shovel, maybe he got his fingers dirty, his hands dirty.
Speaker: Dug him up, pulled him up from the ground. And the same way Jesus got his hands dirty when he came to the earth. He lived a perfect life, but he died the death that every sinner deserves.
Speaker: He became sin for us. He became evil for us on our account, taking every wicked word, thought and deed on himself. All emotional, intellectual, physical, um abysmal, unspeakable, torturous,
Speaker: Most self-inflicted, most common, most abnormal pain, the whole shebang, lot of it, on himself. And he buried it in the grave.
Speaker: After Jesus dug up at him, he breathed into him the spirit of lives. ah soul ah mind A mind, will, emotions, and also spirit, a living spirit.
Speaker: When Elisha brought the little boy back from the dead, it says he put his hands in his hands, his feet in his feet, in his mouth, in his mouth. To be honest, I'd say Jesus did the same thing to Adam.
Speaker: say that's where Elisha got the idea from.
Speaker: and the same way, when Jesus died, whole spirit went to hell, brought him back up again, um rolled away the stone, and Jesus came out fully alive and body, soul, and spirit.
Speaker: Adam was made in the wilderness of the world and then we're told he was put in the Garden of Eden. Jesus was mistaken for a gardener because he also was in a garden.
Speaker: It's in John 20, 15.
Speaker: The first person Adam met was the Elohim of Elohim, the spirit being of all spirit beings, Jesus. And when Jesus and came back to life, there were Elohim there, angels, the ones who'd roll the stones away and then sat there waiting for humans to come along so they could relay what had happened.
Speaker: The first human that Adam met was a woman. We call her Eve. And the first human that Jesus met upon his resurrection was his friend, Mary Magdalene.
Speaker: And Adam and Eve were put over the animal kingdom and Jesus called his disciples sheep. but and So some nice little similarities there between the first and last Adam.
Speaker: When was Adam made? Day six. As were land creatures, including the behemoth, the largest land creature God ever made.
Speaker: The first man, first job, the first command, the first surgery was performed, the first woman came from that, and there was also the first marriage.
Speaker: So the man, the woman, and marriage in particular are probably the three things the devil hates most, at least as it relates to humans.
Speaker: Adam's firsts, why was he so important? Well, he was the first son. He was the son of God, according to Luke 2. um He was the first linguist.
Speaker: As soon as he was created, he could speak. He understood speech. He was a farm or a gardener, beneficial, meaningful work.
Speaker: He was a taxonomist. He named the animals. He was the first patient. Jesus anesthetized him, put him to sleep, and made a wipe from his rib.
Speaker: had exercise faith that Jesus had made all that is before he was made, and he had to believe that the woman had come from him, that when Jesus anesthetized him that he would wake up again. That all involved faith.
Speaker: He was the first husband, eventually became the first father, sadly the first sinner, But soon afterwards, he co-founded Clothes Designing. Think of the fig leaf garments, however however ineffectual they were.
Speaker: little bit of trivia here. He did not have a navel because he had not come from mother. And also some people say, oh you know, men have one less rib than women because Adam lost his.
Speaker: Nonsense. Ribs are incredible bones in that they can reform. So the reality is he probably was not one rib down for very, very long. Because God does not want his children to be a little bit whole, but totally whole.
Speaker: Amen.
Speaker: But like I said earlier, a lot of people today like to push tension ah where it should not exist, especially between men and women. But the Lord's intention was always that the two would work together and create something wonderful on the earth, something powerful.
Speaker: Let's look at the man as the sublime and the woman as the beautiful. To go with my Irish boy, Edmund Burke's lingo.
Speaker: Adam was made in the wilderness of the primordial earth, the untamed outback, whereas the woman was made in the Garden of Eden. The core of a man's heart is therefore undomesticated, and he is to pursue the beauty of a woman.
Speaker: Whereas for women, there's a deep sense to have beauty to unveil, as well as to be the beauty, to be delighted in. Brendan, that's misogynistic and backwards. Then why don't you look at 90% of TV adverts and movies? Hello.
Speaker: but Maybe not like the most recent Terminator, MCU, and Star Wars crap, but like, you know, legitimately good ones that actually understand women.
Speaker: The man was made to have adventures. and to explore the prelapsarian world, the prefall world, to face its requisite danger, and to bring all the wild beasts into submission.
Speaker: He was told to dominate, to rule takeover.
Speaker: And the same way the woman was made to get caught up in the adventure, as a helpmate and co-laborer. In far- in, um, taming- should say farming. She could farm if she wanted to. In taming the wild creatures beyond the Garden of Eden's borders. They were not told to stay in the Garden.
Speaker: They were told to rule over the world, to spread out. The God didn't say, men, off you go, ladies, stay in the Garden of Eden, eating apples and sleeping on grass. No. No.
Speaker: Both were assigned these tasks. Both were supposed to be active kings and priests on the earth. And the man was to be dangerous against the forces of darkness.
Speaker: And so was the woman. She wasn't supposed to stay at home cooking all day while he went off to do the spiritual stuff. Cooking is great. Food is great. I'm all for it.
Speaker: But she was also called... to bring the creeping things into submission.
Speaker: If you want an idea of what their marriage looks like, read the book in the Bible, Song of Songs. Crap out the power about their friends, mothers, fathers, King Solomon, wanting to have sex with her in his and her mother's bed, the weird stuff.
Speaker: But just look at the relationship between the two, the devotion, the hunger, the passion, the honor. um You know, having sex outside in the grass and blowing his fruits, which means exactly what you think it means but about without being indecent.
Speaker: Basically tells you what their love life was like. Now, some people say things like, oh, well, you know, the man, the woman, they were just so darn ignorant of sin. They just didn't know what was going on.
Speaker: Oh, no, they they weren't ignorant of sin. They were innocent of sin. Completely different. They knew that there was a threat to take down. But they made an active decision every single second of every single day not to participate with it.
Speaker: Look at Genesis 1.28.
Speaker: God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase the number. Fill the earth and, hello, subdue it. Rule it, take over it, govern it, subject it, bring it into bondage.
Speaker: Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. Other translations say over all the creeping things.
Speaker: There was supposed to be an element of risk to their lives, of threat, of danger, of adventure, not boredom. lot of people think that they just sat around the garden of Eden having sex all day apart from Jesus came walking in the cool of the Nonsense.
Speaker: A lot of people have very interesting pictures of the Garden of Eden in their mind's eye. a Very Google image Eden images.
Speaker: um But actually, this is something not a lot of people recognize. Eden was on a mountain. was a paradise, was a garden of pleasure or delight.
Speaker: But actually tells in Ezekiel 28, that you are in Eden, the Garden of God, you're on the holy mountain of God. The holy mountain.
Speaker: Joel 2, refers to Zion, Israel, Jerusalem as God's holy mountain, so it likens it to the Garden of like?
Speaker: The Lord himself planted it and grew it. It was mankind's first home.
Speaker: It had lots of variety, all kinds of trees. They were pleasing to the eyes. It was beautiful, was attractive. You went to a lot of churches today, and oh my goodness, there's barely a lick of paint in the walls. And if you hang up Christmas decorations, someone's complaining that you're worshiping demons in the roves.
Speaker: No. God loves beauty.
Speaker: If he didn't, the word of God would not refer to him as beautiful. And he would not have made women with that innate, inherent beauty. God loves beauty.
Speaker: If you had problem beauty, he would not command you to think about beautiful things. It was a fertile, fruitful place where things grew.
Speaker: The trees there were good for food. There was nourishment, nutrition. It was naturally well watered.
Speaker: There are all kinds of animals in the garden. The man, the woman were unclothed there. um So there was no need for protection from the sun or from the snow.
Speaker: The environment, the climate were perfectly suited to humans. And even Jesus would come in the cool of the day and walk with his children.
Speaker: Genesis 2.10 talks about a single river, the River Eden, flowing out to the garden and splitting into four heads. Rivers flow downstream, downhill.
Speaker: So that's another picture um that tells you it was on a mountain.
Speaker: Eden's rivers and Israel have a deep connection. the land of Havilah, ringed by the Piscean, is indicative of the presence and the blessing of God. Additionally, the Piscean and the other three rivers from Eden eventually marked the boundaries of the land that the Lord promised to Abraham, what Moses would call the promised land.
Speaker: And as God had prepared and assigned Eden to Adam's care, the paradise of Canaan's land was entrusted Abraham. and then Moses seized hold of it in his day to lead people there.
Speaker: And Joshua laid siege of it to bring the people in.
Speaker: lot of Christians are very, very nervous when it comes to money. They don't like money talk. They don't like being told about and tithing or giving or offerings. Not all the same thing. not all applicable to us today, but they don't really like money talk.
Speaker: um even as it pertains the word of God, even though Jesus spoke a heck of a lot about money, more than most other topics during his earthly ministry, because he knows that money is so important to all of us.
Speaker: um Some Christians say silly things like, oh, I would not like to have enough money because if I did, or I would not like to win the lottery because if I did, would not like to make money from an inheritance because if I did.
Speaker: Nonsense. You look at what evildoers accomplish for the enemy with money. Imagine the kingdom of light had it, right? i listen, I eat wholeheartedly believe God is a capitalist. I do. Because look at the materials flowing in the rivers from Eden and that therefore were in the lands surrounding Eden.
Speaker: According to Genesis 2, 10 to 14, It talks about a river and flowing from it and into the land, gold. Another one, aromatic resin.
Speaker: Another one, onyx, onyx stone. These are very, very prophetic, first and foremost. Gold talks about the kingship of Jesus in Israel.
Speaker: It's November at time of recording, but come December, people will be singing Born is the king of Israel. Right.
Speaker: Aromatic resin represents the death and the burial of Jesus to save us from our sins. And onyx was a precious stone found on the high priest of Israel's breastplate.
Speaker: Talks about the priesthood of Melchizedek. Melchizedek is the name of Jesus. Lucifer was high priest to Jesus, as Melchizedek, is high priest to his own father, Father God.
Speaker: So you can just imagine Adam and Eve just taking handfuls of gold for from the river, maybe making themselves a beautiful house or making the Lord an amazing temple, bull because why not?
Speaker: And aromatic resin translates also as bdellium, but there is another connotation to that too, another meaning. And then you got the onyx stone. But the aromatic resin can also translate as pearls.
Speaker: A perfect stone. You can just imagine Adam taking handfuls of this and giving it to his wife.
Speaker: But it wasn't only a place of physical beauty. was also where heaven touched the earth, kissed the earth with a sloppy wet kiss, and the supernatural and natural worlds overlapped.
Speaker: Because God in Genesis 2.2, we're told, grew the trees there with supernatural speed that would ripen in autumn. they were They were evergreen, ever abundant ever growing, ever blooming.
Speaker: In Exodus 25, 31 to 40, it talks about Moses' tabernacle. And it talks about the Garden of Eden being recreated out of pure gold.
Speaker: Genesis 3, 22 talks the tree of life. And to eat of its fruit would have given humans immortality. More on that soon.
Speaker: Genesis 2-9 talks about another supernaturally grown tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, showing that people had the power of choice and to ingest it was to be given a reprobate mind, not to see things from God's perspective,
Speaker: but to see things through the lens of Marxism, socialism, communism, whatever you want to call it, fourth wave feminism, rebellion, Wicca, Buddhism, Hinduism, all this nonsense.
Speaker: And in Solomon's temple, images of Eden and the cherubim who lived there were carved into the walls, 1 Kings 6.29. So the man and the woman absolutely saw supernatural creatures. They knew that they were living in a natural world, kissed for the supernatural world.
Speaker: And some people, based in Hebrews 9.12, also think that they could travel to heaven. and Hebrews 9.12, it talks about the Ark of the Covenant in heaven. Now in Moses' day, one was made in the earth. There is one in heaven as well.
Speaker: You also see it in Revelation. And it talks of the blood being poured on them in heaven. So some people would say, well, why?
Speaker: the blood of Jesus is for the forgiveness of sins, the cleansing of sin. What person had sinned in heaven and sat on that chair, portal thing.
Speaker: Well, if it had been on the earth and the man and or the woman were able to teleport or transport to heaven, maybe the Lord washed it after the crucifixion um to break off Adam's sin.
Speaker: Or possibly.
Speaker: All right, Genesis 2.9. The Tree of Life is in the middle of the garden, and and the River Eden flows in several streams. So it's possible that the Tree of Life was inaccessible at times to the man and the woman. and Because it's a normal question, people ask, but why didn't they just eat of it?
Speaker: Maybe they couldn't. Physically couldn't, they couldn't get to it, perhaps. If they had... And they had lived a perfect life. God would never have minded at all.
Speaker: um But maybe they just said, well, listen, mean we already have abundant life. We're already immortal because we live in the perfect presence of a perfect God. So what's the purpose? What's the point?
Speaker: Maybe he had told them not to. Maybe he had said, listen, tithe for me that tree. Definitely tithe for me to treat the knowledge going evil. But I'll see this one. and Let me be your your life support for everything we don't know.
Speaker: We can only surmise. But it's possible it was inaccessible because of all the rivers.
Speaker: But in day seven, having created Crème de la Crème, the crown jewels of creation, the Lord rested. The Lord Shabbat.
Speaker: He ceased. He celebrated. He reposed. He was still. He desisted from labour and exertion. He was not tired, but he took time to look at the world's it was.
Speaker: And he was so glad. He said it was very good.
Speaker: And then it all went downhill. We do not know when this happens. If it were days later, weeks, months, years. Well, personally, I hope it was years later, but we don't know.
Speaker: need open it up We're not told.
Speaker: Now, the Lord, Jesus, quite possibly on day six, but at some point, told the man, Don't eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Speaker: Save it for me. Put aside for me. Tithe it to me. Trust me with this one thing that you don't touch. Just trust I'm still good and I'll still look after your needs.
Speaker: And for the day you eat of it and dying, you will die. You will die on the inside and you will die on the outside.
Speaker: But the enemy, he really wanted planet Earth. And he really wanted to push back against the man and the woman. Because living on a mountain, you know, they probably could see demons running around the ground around the mountain.
Speaker: So they were probably there, you know, I rebuke you in Jesus' name. I cast you out. I see up and out in Jesus' name. Lightning bolts. Strike. Fire of God's all.
Speaker: I know I would have. So instead, the enemy needed to manipulate them. Through the form of something friendly.
Speaker: And he decided did a snake. Not a snake from Eden, though. A snake from the field. A snake from beyond the garden. From somewhere else.
Speaker: Now, some people feel a bit uncomfortable about this story because, you know, it involves a talking snake. I'm going be honest with you. If you can believe that Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead.
Speaker: After three days.
Speaker: I don't really think talking animals are outside the realm of possibility. Just gonna throw it out there, okay? I see no reason why before all the curses came and all the punishments and all the judgments, animals could not speak. Or speak or hit speak in their own language and be understood. But even speak human tongues, because why not? God's good, right?
Speaker: Now the serpent appears to have cooperated because he did get judged by Jesus later on. So what honestly think happened was the enemy came, delivered a cogent message the snake and said, do you think it's right that the man, the woman, you know, the the babies of creation, the last creatures made should be running the shop, should be controlling all of us, should be in charge of everything?
Speaker: No, Satan, I with Jesus' opinions, is perhaps what the snake said. Because for demons to enter into a person, there needs to be a landing strip, a landing pad, a space, a wound, a gap.
Speaker: So it would seem to me fitting that fiting that even when they enter into animals, there is an opening. So I'd say the first creature to fall was actually the snake.
Speaker: Just throwing it out there.
Speaker: And then the enemy set his sights on the man and the woman. Particularly the woman first, by the way. And he decided to attack the soul. The woman's mind, heart, and will.
Speaker: And that's why Psalm 143.3 describes Satan as the enemy of the soul.
Speaker: He began a framework that he still uses today. He encourages doubts with the mind by adding to the word of God, omitting from the word of God and misquoting the word of God.
Speaker: He encourages desire with the heart. Desire is good, but this is wicked desire. Or premature desire.
Speaker: And he encourages disobedience with the will. So attacking the mind, the heart and the will, all three.
Speaker: So the snake comes along with the devil inside it and asks Eve in particular. Now, Adam was with her. The man was there. The Bible specifically tells us he was.
Speaker: lot of Christians are very, very generous. to Adam and they're like, oh, maybe he just arrived later on. Maybe he hadn't heard at all this. No, I'm sorry. This is not a story about someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Speaker: This is a sad, tragic tale of someone being in the right place at the right time and still letting wickedness take a foothold in his marriage and his wife and himself.
Speaker: And this what the snake said to Eve. Did the Lord really say that the day you eat this fruit you'll die?
Speaker: so that is not what the Lord said. The Lord said, the day you eat of this fruit, in dying you'll die. You'll die in the soul and you'll die in the body.
Speaker: What the devil and the snake asked is that you will drop dead immediately. In the natural. It's not what God said. But Eve got confused.
Speaker: And she said, um is that right? No, no, I don't think so. No, no, he said if we even touch the tree, we'll drop dead.
Speaker: So the enemy created doubts in her mind. planted a seed of distrust. That God was bad, not absolutely good, was out to get humans, was a spoilsport.
Speaker: So she thought this, it took root, and then she exaggerated the harshness of God and the restrictiveness of his rules.
Speaker: The enemy manipulated them and said, no, no, no, nonsense. Listen, God knows things and he does not want you to know them. Because if you knew them, then you would be like him.
Speaker: You would challenge him. You'd be on equal footing. You might even be superior. And desiring this knowledge, this wisdom, this power, this access to more,
Speaker: She took a chomp of the fruit, not an apple, the Bible does not say what it was. And she gave some to her husband as well, and he also ate it. And next thing, their eyes were opened.
Speaker: They had a freak out, a panic attack. And they began trying to cover their shame with fig leaves in Genesis 3, 1-7.
Speaker: one seven
Speaker: This would explain, perhaps, why in Mark 11, 12, 25, Jesus cursed a fig tree. m Because the land remembers, the earth remembers, and he associated that fig tree in his day with the nearby fig tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Speaker: And then they hid behind it from the Lord.
Speaker: In Genesis 3-9, Jesus came along. Now, some people call him Father God. Not true. Jesus said in his earthly ministry that no one by that stage had seen Father God.
Speaker: So therefore, in the Old Testament, when God appears, it's Jesus. Jesus comes along and says, where are you? Where can mean two things in Hebrew, depending on the word.
Speaker: One word is where. Give me your location. Here, the word is ayah, meaning where are you? What happened? Give an account. Talk to you about your heart. Where is your heart today? Where is your soul? Where you at?
Speaker: And Adam and Eve in Genesis 2.25, in their holy state, were Adam naked. Unclothed, totally naked, transparent, wise, prudent, cautious.
Speaker: That's not what Adam says in Genesis 3.10. He says, we heard you coming and we were ashamed because we were iran naked, bare, exposed, vulnerable.
Speaker: And the last thing is, they're not naked right now. They're wearing clothes made of fig leaves. So they're not hiding their penises and boobs and whatever else from from Jesus.
Speaker: They're trying to hide their sin.
Speaker: And Jesus got very angry.
Speaker: He turned to the snake and he said the snake would eat the dust. In the natural now, snakes do actually lick the dust. It's called the Jacobson's organ.
Speaker: It helps them to smell in addition to its nose. And its darting forked tongue samples bits of the dust by picking them up at the points of the fork, which it then presents to its matching pair of sensory organs inside its mouth.
Speaker: And once it has smell, um then it will start to move along.
Speaker: But it also lost it its appendages. The Lord said, you will now crawl on your belly, you slither. So basically, they used to have legs, and now they don't. And even there are fossils of snakes with legs, with limbs, or i you know today a of them have cuts of where their limbs used to be.
Speaker: um So that was its punishment.
Speaker: Satan was also punished, and the prophecy was given about him. was prophesied that he too would eat the dust. to What was the dust? Well, man had come from the dust.
Speaker: So basically, Satan will spend every day of his life devouring humans, at war with humans, struggling with humans, fighting against humans. He was put back in his place, lower than the Lord.
Speaker: um And he was torched and evicted from Eden, Ezekiel 28, 18.
Speaker: Another prophecy came towards the woman and the devil. And Jesus prophesied his own birth as the, not just the second Adam, but as the last Adam.
Speaker: He turned to the woman and he said, your birth pains will increase. Maybe she'd had children before. Maybe she hadn't, since there was going to be pain, but it became worse. We don't know.
Speaker: But he said, you will have a descendant, Mary. And the woman, the virgin, will have seed, will have sperm.
Speaker: Women don't have sperm. God's saying there will be a pregnant virgin. drama Mary here, Jesus' mother. And Jesus said, from her will come the chosen one.
Speaker: The enemy will bruise his heel, but the chosen one will crush the enemy's head. You know, when Jesus was crucified, heel was bruised. He was put out of commission for a few days, but he crushed the head of the enemy on the cross because the cross was on Mount Calvary, Golgotha, the Mount of the Skull.
Speaker: And that's where he defeated the power of sin and death.
Speaker: For the man, he would have to do back-breaking labour. No more easy work like you had been doing, and no longer would it be in the lush, bounteous, plentiful Garden of Eden, but in the barren world, the primordial earth, be a great outback.
Speaker: Just he'd come from the dust, he would die in the natural and go back to the dust. And... Weeds, thistles and thorns would shoot up.
Speaker: Those thorns would later be shunked into Jesus' head as a mockery, as a crown of thorns.
Speaker: Some people might say, Jacob seems like Jesus was angrier with Adam than he was with Eve. Yeah. Because Eve was deceived. She was tricked.
Speaker: Jesus had not given her the instruction. It was Adam's job to relay it. I like to think he did. Because Eve was like, well, I think God said this. through the test She had some semblance of recollection.
Speaker: So she was tricked by the enemy.
Speaker: But Adam made a conscious decision with his will. to side with his wife over Jesus. Bad idea. Romans 5.12 says, therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and in this way, death came to all people because all sinned. So the man was given responsibility.
Speaker: Adam. He was given the authority He was given the message. He was the head. He was the first. They were equal, but there was headship.
Speaker: What did he do? It wasn't me. It was the woman you made. He passed responsibility to her. She said, Oh, not me. It was the snake.
Speaker: She passed the authority, the responsibility onto the devil. And the devil became the king of the world. And that's why the world is the way it is today.
Speaker: But Jesus is so so, good.
Speaker: And his story, his plan, his purposes are always for our redemption.
Speaker: So therefore, he took an animal, probably a lamb, based on John 1, 29, that he's a lamb of God who takes away the sins of the earth.
Speaker: And he killed it. And he wrapped them up in skins. in leather coats and clothes, establishing precedent that animal would have to be sacrificed in order to cleanse humans of their sin.
Speaker: We see that reflected in the days of their sons, Cain and Abel. Cain was religious. He grew plants, put them together, and was like, look at what I did good, and they forget.
Speaker: Abel knew what had worked. He knew the precedent that Jesus had established in his parents' time and hey killed the goat. That's what I think goats sound like when they're killed.
Speaker: Or a lamb. Or animal. The first fruits. The best, the best. And he offered them up to Jesus. And Jesus said, this, this is a good sacrifice. This is a pleasing sacrifice. And Cain knew that because Jesus told him, listen, you know what I like, you know what I accept.
Speaker: Now do it because sin is over there waiting to destroy you. It's crouching like a like a tiger, come on.
Speaker: So killing an animal, a perfect animal, became the precedent. And Jesus, the Lamb of God, he was the perfect sacrifice.
Speaker: But this entire story can be summarized in Luke 10, 25 37, where it talks about a certain man, Adam, who came from Jerusalem, the Garden of Eden.
Speaker: Think of what I said earlier about, you know, God's mountain, Zion, Jerusalem, and his holy mountain, Eden.
Speaker: But it says that this man, Adam, fell into the hands of thieves. He was worn down by the thief, lighted upon, deceived by.
Speaker: Says he was on his way to Jericho when the thieves attacked. Jericho worshiped Nana, the moon gods, and the ancient Israeli teachers teach that Satan lived on the moon correctly or incorrectly. That is what they teach.
Speaker: So Satan was the demonic God over Jericho.
Speaker: And John 10, 10 says the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. What does that mean in the Greek? It means the thief comes to steal secretively and with stealth, to sacrificially offer on an altar by burning, to butcher completely and to cut off entirely, to violently perish, to cause to be lost by experiencing a miserable end, to abolish, to ruin, to blot out, to vanish away, to cause the loss of everlasting life.
Speaker: On that front, the enemy has very much succeeded in many, many, many lives, and still is right now, and still will in the future.
Speaker: It says that the thieves stole Adam's raiment, his anointing, his dominion over the earth, his mantle, his responsibility, his duty. But the Lord had a backup plan.
Speaker: He sent a Samaritan. A Samaritan is a man whose mother is a Jewess and whose father is someone else. but That's like Mary, Jew, but the father of Jesus is God.
Speaker: And he came along on a donkey, just like the good Samaritan did. And Jesus came on the colt, the offspring of a donkey. And he picked up bloody humanity, getting our his our blood, guts and gore all over him. was a dirty job.
Speaker: He took our sins and our shame on himself and he dealt with wickedness.
Speaker: And then he came to the innkeeper and he gave him two down that high. Now, a denarius was the cost of a day's labor. Sorry, the wage of a day's labor.
Speaker: um So in giving two of them to the innkeeper, he gave two days wages. Second Peter 3.8 says that 1,000 earth years is one day in heaven.
Speaker: And Jesus said, if I'm late, so I'll be paying full. So basically, I'm going to go away now for 2,000 years and a bit extra. But when I come back, I will set everything to right.
