Speaker: Okay, God, thank you for this time, oh God. Thank you, Jesus, that your children are letting their trust in me to show up and show Christ, to show the simplicity, sincerity, power, authority of the cross, the power, the cross.

Speaker: That was good 2,000 years ago, that is good today. as powerful alive and active. Lord God, do you know the ones that you want to make it tonight, Lord God, I pray that they will, that they will join, they'll be blessed, they'll be strengthened, they'll be encouraged.

Speaker: God, I'm not here to make myself look good, less of me and more of you. It's no longer I who live, it's Christ who lives within me. So of live, Jesus.

Speaker: Show your words, you're powerful. and effective in living, speaking, breathing words. Fit for today, fit for purpose.

Speaker: so Then she will reply back to me um pi because she knows certain things I may not know, but I know she did know.

Speaker: Sure, sure. Yeah. So you just need Holy Spirit to confirm your suspicions. Yeah. Okay, okay. Okay, well, in unity, whatever that is, we pray, Holy Spirit, you are the Lord order.

Speaker: not a God of confusion. So Holy Spirit, speak very, very clearly to your beautiful, precious daughter, Yanita, with crystal still clear clarity that she would know liny election if what she suspects is true.

Speaker: If it's just her imagination, If it's partly true or totally true, move Holy Spirit and give her crystal clear clarity by this time tomorrow and lead her to pray powerfully and authoritatively into that situation that she will see excellent and quick results.

Speaker: In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Amen. a Amen. You know, my mom always told me, no, no, no sorry. my My mom always tells me that if Holy Spirit is speaking to there is peace also in your, and you cell not just like feeling, but is there easiness in your body?

Speaker: Yeah. And I heard a voice saying, there is nothing to be concerned, on or how do you say that yeah about concerned about yeah but when i heard that i felt anxiety like uneasy in my body and i'm like oh

Speaker: yeah you see sometimes you can feel peace because holy spirit is speaking ah but you can feel uneasy or disturbed at what the thing is What is the this word? So the disturbed, uneasy, very uncomfortable.

Speaker: um Because let's say if God was telling you about a crime, you could be like, that was God's voice. But you might feel concerned that there was evil.

Speaker: So you can still have multiple feelings about one thing, if that's clear. You know, you you can feel peace that God has spoken and you've heard him.

Speaker: But you can feel uneasy at his message. and Maybe he's exposing something bad and that makes you feel uneasy. So you can have two feelings about one issue.

Speaker: But that's okay, because we prayed for confirmation from Holy Spirit. And now you just rest and you wait for that confirmation. And he will reveal it to you. Because he does not want you to be confused or suspicious without reason. Yeah, yeah. Or to be judging people for no reason. So he will give you clarity, okay?

Speaker: Yes. I have to ask something. ah Do you have really sharp disheartments? um I would say usually. Usually, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. um There have been some times where It hasn't been very sharp, but that was mainly because of my individual feelings towards an issue.

Speaker: I had so many emotions and that my emotions were here and God's voice was down here. But that wasn't a God problem. That was a me problem. um Okay. ah I understand.

Speaker: Yeah, but if you want to, we can pray about it tomorrow, okay? If i don't have a busy day at work, we can make some time to talk and pray tomorrow, okay?

Speaker: Okay, guys, well, thank you so much for joining. um today um you'll notice whenever there's a bible study or a prayer meeting the women of god always come out strong and full force where are the sons of god god is doing something amazing in the world in these days concerning his daughters you had better believe it

Speaker: Okay, so today you're very welcome Discipleship Course Part 2, which is on the best thing anyone could ever talk about.

Speaker: Even the Bible knows this is the best thing. It literally calls this the good news. All of the Bible is amazing. Holy Spirit spoke all of it to the Bible writers.

Speaker: But even God knew what the best news was. that's what we're going to look today. This is called the Gospel of Grace. And we're going to put a lot of emphasis on the cross of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus,

Speaker: and his resurrection when he walked out of that grave on the third day. It absolutely changed history forever.

Speaker: So regarding next week, um the young adults have been praying for persecuted Christians all around the world for one or two years now.

Speaker: um So next week, We're going to carve out some time the Wednesday to pray for persecuted Christians. And then we'll take some time to pray for each other as well.

Speaker: And then we'll do the next Discipleship Part 3 the week after. Because I know that a lot of you are going through difficult times at the moment with work.

Speaker: or ah family, health, relationships. And I could spend all my Wednesdays just talking to you or talking at you, but we are a family. So it's important that in everything we do, the foundation is prayer.

Speaker: Okay? I'm not going to force anyone to share. You can be as open or as private as you like. but I want everyone to know that you're loved, that there's unity, and that we're together with you in this, okay?

Speaker: the gospel of grace, in short, is the story of Jesus' earthly life.

Speaker: He was born in Bethlehem in a teensy tiny country on the map called Israel. The Roman Empire had invaded Israel and they had taken over it.

Speaker: And when Jesus was about 30, he began going around Israel, telling people about the love of God, that the Father was for them, that the Father's heart was addicted to them, that the Father wanted them to be free.

Speaker: that he just wanted to embrace them, build them up and restore them. And his local contemporary people hated him.

Speaker: but They did not like his teachings on the father's love. So instead, his own nation conspired against him.

Speaker: They had him arrested by the Roman guards. And on Golgotha, Mount Calvary, the Mount of the Skull, if you look here, it you can almost see two eyes, and nose, and a mouth. It looks like a face on the mountain. that's still It still looks like that today.

Speaker: They crucified him. They put nails in his hands and his feet and a crown of thorns in his head to mock him. They stripped him naked.

Speaker: And they hung him between two thieves.

Speaker: In possibly the most ironic moment in the Bible, one of the thieves sneered, If you are God's son, save yourself and save us.

Speaker: ah Now, if I had been Jesus, I would have said, What do you think I'm trying to do, people? He saved himself three days later when Holy Spirit brought him back from the dead.

Speaker: But he hung there save us. Every person has committed evil in God's eyes. We saw the start of that last week with Adam and Eve.

Speaker: And every person who's ever grown to an age where you can make your own decisions since then has chosen to do the wrong thing.

Speaker: God is good judge, but he did not want to punish every person who lives, because he loves people. So instead, God said, i will punish one person, so hopefully I never have to punish anybody else ever again.

Speaker: So all the evil thoughts, all the evil words, All the evil actions of human beings ever were supernaturally put on Jesus.

Speaker: And he was given the death penalty by God. He descended for three days. And three days later, the stone was rolled away.

Speaker: He walked out. of the tomb he was in, in full, total, new, restored life. And he offers that life to us today.

Speaker: All we have to do is believe it and receive it. It's a gift. You can't work for it. You'll never be good enough. I've tried. this but i ended up in a bad place emotionally and mentally.

Speaker: You can't persuade God. You can't steal it. It's a gift. You just say, yes, Jesus, I want that life on the inside.

Speaker: And you know what? He gives it to you. Because God is absolutely good. Amen. So that right there is called the Gospel of Grace.

Speaker: But the wonderful thing is, there are pictures of it, foreshadows, in the Old Testament, and and in the start of the New Testament, where God gave little pictures, little previews of what was to come.

Speaker: And we're going to look at some of them today. So either please unmute write a number in the chat box and pick a number between seven and fifty.

Speaker: That's seven and five-oh, seven and fifty. You can either unmute or you can use the chat box. And the Bible has dozens of these, but we'll look at a few. Can you say the numbers again?

Speaker: Yeah, so the smallest possibility is seven, and the biggest possibility is fifty. Five-oh. Six. Okay, six.

Speaker: Mm-hmm. Yeah, all right, we'll go with this one. 49. Okay, I'll make a little note of all these in the chat box.

Speaker: Okay, we've 47, 42, 22, 49. Lovely, lovely. Okay, we'll start with those. And if I need more, we'll go through those two. All right, then.

Speaker: Like before, you don't have to write any of this down, OK? um Nothing on the screen. You're going to get all of that on um the chat on WhatsApp anyway.

Speaker: So in Genesis 37, there's a very famous story. Some of you might have seen the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Speaker: I have starred in that musical. It is brilliant. In that story, You have a boy called Joseph. Joseph has prophetic dreams.

Speaker: God shows him the future when he sleeps. And I know that's true for lots of people on this channel. um His brothers, however, well, they do not really like the things that God shows him.

Speaker: So instead, they conspire against him.

Speaker: They start off by throwing him down a well, a dry well, so out serious yowza. And then after a while, they lift him back up again.

Speaker: They sell him to Midianites. Midianites are from another nation and they were slave traders. So basically they exchanged him for silver. They sold their own brother.

Speaker: And then they covered his clothes in animal blood. And they said, oh, sorry, Dad. um Joseph was eaten by ah a lion.

Speaker: These things happen. Sorry, Dad. A mad story with a horrible beginning, but it does get better. It does.

Speaker: Considering what I showed you earlier about the Gospel of Grace, What similarities can you see between the story of Jesus here and the story of Joseph?

Speaker: Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver. Very good. Yeah, it's lovely. Just like Joseph was sold for silver. Great, Nita. Anything else?

Speaker: Jeanette says rejection big time, massively. And rejected by his own people, which is even worse. Yeah.

Speaker: Okay, lovely.

Speaker: So yeah, we've got Joseph's brothers threw him down a dry well. and Jesus nation abandoned him onto death. He was buried underground, just like Joseph was.

Speaker: Joseph was sold to slave riders for silver. And yes, Judas Iscariot traded Jesus to the religious establishment. And the Midianites um made a slave of Joseph.

Speaker: And Roman soldiers and took Jesus away from the Garden of Gethsemane, where he was praying. Jimmy says tortured massively. Jesus in particular. Joseph...

Speaker: ah Also experienced incredible persecution as a slave. Big time. um Especially when he met his slave owner's wife, Mrs. Potiphar. She made his life even worse. Yeah, big time. all Alright guys, super answers. Okay, let's see what other numbers you've put in here.

Speaker: um okay Jamie said 47. Okay, let's have a look.

Speaker: Okay, 47. In Matthew 27, just while Jesus is being crucified, there's another man hanging off a tree.

Speaker: Judas Iscariot. So Judas sold Jesus, he traded him, he exposed where Jesus was to the religious leaders,

Speaker: And then Judas was so ashamed of what he had done that he hung himself from a tree. What similarities or irony can you see between Jesus on the cross and Judas on the tree?

Speaker: This one might be a bit harder than the last one. The only similarity I can see is the wood. Okay.

Speaker: I mean, that's all I'll have to really, really think. No, no, no, that's like that's ah it's a good start. um What feelings was Judas feeling that made him hang himself?

Speaker: Shame. Majorly. Major shame. Major regret.

Speaker: And why did Jesus hang on the cross? Because of our shame. And here's the really horrible part. At the same time that Jesus was hanging on the cross, taking Judas' betrayal on himself, Judas' shame on himself, Judas' punishment on himself,

Speaker: Judas was on another tree hanging himself. If Judas had it instead gone to the cross and said, Jesus, I'm so sorry.

Speaker: It would have been dealt with an instant. His entire destiny would have changed. But instead, there were two trees, on Mount Calvary, one in a potter's field,

Speaker: And Judas was killing himself, when at the very same time Jesus was making a solution took to save him. Very, very sad. Very sad story.

Speaker: Okay, let's see. Carolina's Chosen 42. Let's see what that one is.

Speaker: Okay. Daniel chapter 6. This is in the Old Testament. There's a man called Daniel. He's about 70 years of age.

Speaker: He's a godly man. he loves praying to the Lord. He prays multiple times a day.

Speaker: And I'm sorry, his colleagues don't like him. So they conspire with the king to have him thrown underground into a den full of lions.

Speaker: But instead of the lions killing him, instead, an angel comes and absolutely terrifies the lions, seals their mouths shut, and scares them so they go nowhere near him.

Speaker: They don't scratch him. They don't tear him to shreds. They leave him alone because the angel is protecting him. What kind of similar... And then ah the next day, um the king is wakes up and is like, oh my goodness, what have I done?

Speaker: So he runs to the den and says, Daniel, has your God saved you? Daniel's like, yep. And the king helps Daniel get out of the den.

Speaker: What similarities can you see here between the story of Jesus on the cross?

Speaker: Everybody coming against Jesus. So he's in the fire. Wow.

Speaker: Yeah. Brilliant. Yeah. Very, very good. Just like um Jesus contemporaries came against him. Daniels came against him also. Yeah. Brilliant. Anything else? Is there anything significant about the den?

Speaker: See, Carolina says obedience. Yeah, big time. Yeah, Daniel just kept on praying to the Lord. He didn't stop.

Speaker: Yeah, they're great answers.

Speaker: And then there's another one as well. Brandon, I'm thinking. Sorry. Yeah, yeah I'll get that's like i' give another a few seconds. um What I was thinking was that he came kind of unscorched out of the den, right? And Jesus tasted death, but dead did not devour him.

Speaker: Wow. Ooh, getting very, very deep. Very good. I love all these. That's excellent. Yeah.

Speaker: Okay, guys, these are great answers. um And we can also say that King Darius didn't want to do this to Daniel.

Speaker: In the same way that Pontius Pilate didn't want i called him daniel and didn't want to punish Jesus. um Instead, they both felt pressured to do it. It's not an excuse, obviously.

Speaker: i but they but both felt pressured by um those in power to see it through. And the same way Daniel descended into the den, Jesus descended into the grave. But just like Nita said, they both came about again, um smelling like roses.

Speaker: Okay, I see Jeanette 22. so twenty two Okay, here's a fun one.

Speaker: Okay. In the Book of Joshua, there's quite a long story, but a very dramatic story. It's great to read this one if ever you have an afternoon free.

Speaker: Chapters two to five. There was an ancient city called Jericho. Jericho, some historians believe, is the oldest city on earth. If it isn't, it is one of them. um Jericho translates as moon.

Speaker: And the people, um the Jewish people, believed that Satan lived on the moon. Not saying they were right, but it's what they believed. Um, so these people worship Satan effectively.

Speaker: They were very, very wicked. But there was one woman there with a beautiful heart. Now she was a prostitute. She'd lived a very sad life.

Speaker: But she met a couple of God's people, couple of spies who are sneaking through the lands. And she said, listen, I will help God's people if you protect my family.

Speaker: And they said, deal.

Speaker: So they made her do something that really showed faith. If you are very scared and worried, you would not expose yourself like this. She was drawing attention to herself.

Speaker: But she puts a red cord of rope outside her window. Very strange act of faith, but they told her to do that.

Speaker: Next thing, Joshua, the Lord's leader, led his army of Israelites round and round and round and round and round and round Jericho, wordlessly, just walking.

Speaker: And after seven days and 14 laps, they blew their trumpets and they roared, Yay, God, yay! And next thing, the walls of Jericho fell down, but Rahab's family were protected in her house.

Speaker: A beautiful story, a mad story, dramatic story. Are there any similarities you can find between the gospel of Jesus and this story?

Speaker: Anything that seems quite interesting or ah any connections

Speaker: The red for the blood. Very, very good. i think That's exactly it.

Speaker: So Joshua, his name means the Lord saves. And Joshua is is a form of Yeshua, Jesus. It's the same name. But the red cord is Jesus' blood.

Speaker: Everyone who is in her house was protected with a red cord. And it looks like Jesus' blood. Going down Calvary.

Speaker: That's why I love the Bible. These wonderful little pictures of the of the gospel story, even in um the Old Testament. The Bible is just full of them. It just shows the attention to detail that God has put into ah his salvation story.

Speaker: Okay, so E489 is also in the chat box. Okay, 49. This is Matthew 27. Another very sad one.

Speaker: The day that Jesus died, Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, ordered that Jesus be tortured. Given a crown of thorns in his head, and not just on his head, but in his head.

Speaker: Stripped naked. He was given a robe so they could mock and insult him. They tore out his beard and his hair. They beat him up.

Speaker: They spit on him. They smacked him around. They lashed him with whips 39 times.

Speaker: And Pontius Pilate put two men before the people. And he said, listen, it's Passover. It's a celebration. I'll give you one criminal back.

Speaker: Now you might ask yourself, is that a celebration? but but It's like, give me money, don't give me criminals. But he said, exhibit a Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.

Speaker: Or he offered them another alternative, whose name was Jesus Barabbas, a mass murderer, a killer.

Speaker: And the people... chose Jesus Barabbas, they chose the murderer.

Speaker: Do any of you know anything significant about the name Jesus Barabbas, the name of the murderer, how his name significant?

Speaker: can't remember which language, but it means son of Abba, isn't it? That is exactly it, spot on. Son of the father, yeah. Very good. In Jesus' time, bar meant the son of, and abbas is a form of Abba.

Speaker: Not the 1970s Swedish band, best band in the world, yeah, love them to bits. um But Abba was a name for God. It was how they said Father God, Daddy God, Papa God.

Speaker: It was a a sweet name for God. So you actually have Pontius Pilate offering people Jesus Christ, the actual son of God.

Speaker: But he points to the murderer and he actually calls him Jesus, the son of God, even though he's a murderer. So it's a weird, disturbing, controversial picture a what the actual Jesus looks like, the actual son of God.

Speaker: And then a counterfeit, an antichrist, a fake, a masquerader. And sadly, the people of Jesus' day were so in love with their sin that they would rather have a murderer running among them than a holy man who would call out their sin.

Speaker: Sadly, the world is not much different today. Even today, a lot of people will prefer the wicked, the slanderous, the defiled, rather than for someone to say, hang on a second, that's wicked, stop. That's evil, stop.

Speaker: There's one way, one truth, one life, one option, Jesus Christ. People will often choose the more wicked and defiled human. It's very, very sad.

Speaker: Very, very sad.

Speaker: Okay, then. Genesis 40. forty Back to the story of Joseph again.

Speaker: When Joseph was a slave, his boss was called Potiphar. Now, Joseph was a very good slave, very honorable, and Potiphar trusted him a lot.

Speaker: In fact, Potiphar trusted him with everything. He made Joseph the top slave. I'm not sure if that's a promotion you necessarily want, but that's the job he was given. um However, Joseph grew older and very handsome.

Speaker: And Mrs. Potiphar decided that she really, really, really wanted to get to know Joseph better. She would look at him every day and say, Joseph.

Speaker: I love you, Joseph. And Joseph was like, you, you're married. Get away from me. Stop. Never going to happen. um And the more he resisted her, the more she wanted him.

Speaker: But eventually, Joseph said, en enough is a enough. So he ran away from her. And finally, you know that expression? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Speaker: An angry woman is more dangerous than hell. Well, Mrs. Potiphar took his clothes and she tore them up. When her husband Potiphar came home, she said, oh your slave raped me.

Speaker: And look, I tried to escape. And Potiphar put Joseph in jail. While he was in jail, um he met two criminals, a butler and a baker.

Speaker: And they both had dreams. A lot of people in Genesis had dreams and they all circulated around Joseph like vultures. The butler had a dream and Joseph said, oh, that's a good dream.

Speaker: You are going to leave jail and get your job back. The baker got very excited and he shared his dream. And Joseph said, sorry, friend.

Speaker: Pharaoh, king of Egypt, hey, it's you. and he will chop your head off in three days. And he did. What similarities can you see between Joseph's story and Jesus' story?

Speaker: I'm Catherine Brendon, you're an actor. I did have a role once, actually. i don't say this often, but I did play Mrs. Potiphar, so that's where the accent came from. ah You bring life to the to the pictures, you know. see you how you It's necessary. they're They're real people. We have to treat them like they're real people. yeah you know but yeah But what I see, the similarity between Jesus and Joseph, you say,

Speaker: um

Speaker: but it's about not being believed in why thrown into the that's why his his his family did did reject him.

Speaker: Yeah. So that' the Jews did not believe Jesus was the messiahs. That's right. so So they tried to disarm him and make him be nothing.

Speaker: Wow.

Speaker: Yep. Thank you. Awesome answer. Awesome answer. Anybody else see any similarities or connections?

Speaker: No? Okay. You also have Joseph talking to two criminals. One of them is set free and one of them is killed.

Speaker: And when Jesus was on the cross, there were two criminals. One of them slandered Jesus, treated him terribly.

Speaker: He perished. He died and went to a very hot, unhappy place called hell. But the other criminal said, no, you stop. You shut up now.

Speaker: Jesus did nothing wrong. We are criminals, but he's innocent. He doesn't deserve this. And he said, Jesus, when you enter your kingdom, please remember me.

Speaker: And Jesus said, I'm going to take you to paradise with tooth me today. So when that man died, Jesus took him to a spiritual world called paradise.

Speaker: where he was more alive than he ever was on the earth, where he was at 100%. And then he took him to heaven afterwards. Isn't that brilliant?

Speaker: So one was blessed and one was condemned. Okay, we'll do two more. So Anne Catherine chose 424.

Speaker: Okay, Nidha taught on Sunday at our church, and I'm totally stealing this one from her. This is not a Brendan Thomas Marat original. that So in Luke chapter 15, Jesus shares a few lovely stories called parables.

Speaker: Parables are stories that have more meaning ah behind them than you might realize at first.

Speaker: And there's a shepherd who has 100 sheep. 99 of them say, we're fine, we're righteous, we're okay, we're over here.

Speaker: One of them gets lost. The shepherd looks for the last sheep, finds the last sheep, puts the sheep over his shoulders, and takes the sheep back.

Speaker: And the angels in heaven celebrate not for the 99 perfect, righteous, fine, grand sheep. They celebrate for the one sheep.

Speaker: Why? All right. What's happening here? Find the gospel.

Speaker: Yeah, and that's, this is my story. i am the lost one. Amen. But now you've been found, Anne-Catherine, now you've been found. Yes, yes. So I'm on on his shoulders, right? Amen. Amen.

Speaker: Will I say it? Go for it, why not? It's the significance of the shoulders. It is. are the shoulders important? He brings the lost sheep back on his shoulders. He carries the sheep and just like he carried the cross on his shoulders.

Speaker: Exactly. Very, very good.

Speaker: Lovely. So you have 99 sheep, like, we're fine, we're righteous, we're okay. Nonsense. Self-righteous Pharisees.

Speaker: There has never, ever, ever been a person who was righteous in and of themselves. Every single person is lost. The one sheep just happened to realize he was lost. Right.

Speaker: but but The other 99 were Pharisees. They think they're okay. They're religious. But they we all need Jesus, right? and The Bible says that the angels celebrate more for one lost human than 99 who don't need to be found.

Speaker: But everybody needs to be found. just The 99 don't exist. They're only perfect in their imagination. but But the one sheep, that's the one who realizes, oh my goodness, I'm lost. Where is my shepherd?

Speaker: And Jesus is the good shepherd. And he picks us up on his shoulders, just like he carried the cross on his shoulders. and And he's washed our sins away.

Speaker: And then? on ah

Speaker: Bible verse is coming to my mind. Sure.

Speaker: maybe it's in Isaiah 46. forty six I can't remember more, but it is something like, am it is my English remember. You're fine, you need to, you're okay, don't worry. um it says It says something like, I have always carried you, when your hair is gray,

Speaker: I still carry you. I have always done and always be a lamb. So Jesus is, the he's carrying that lamb.

Speaker: Can you say that? Yeah, lamb is a baby sheep. That's fine. yeah Yeah. So he is carrying that lamb. So Jesus is,

Speaker: um um please correct me if this is correct you're fine Jesus is manifesting what the Lord our Father said many years before Jesus came now Jesus is manifesting that yes yeah thank me Amen. Because the son and the father are one.

Speaker: And when we look at Jesus exactly, we're able to see ah physical picture of God's mind. Because in the Old Testament, you hear God's opinion a lot.

Speaker: But with Jesus, it's he's God with skin on. God in the physical. Amen. Brilliant. Amen. amen Alright guys, we'll do one more picture and Jamie chose the number 20 and then we'll look at some Bible verses.

Speaker: This one is about an amazing man in the Old Testament. His name was Moses. Moses was absolutely super. He lived an incredible life and he wrote the first five books of the Bible.

Speaker: Genesis, which means beginnings, the start. Exodus, which means the exit, when they he led his people out slavery.

Speaker: Leviticus, which was for the priests of his nation, Israel. Numbers, which we're looking at right now. arm And Deuteronomy.

Speaker: Not a word you hear very often. It means five in Hebrew.

Speaker: So in this story... Moses' people, the Israelites, were getting up to a lot of nonsense, a lot of very bad behavior. So what happened?

Speaker: Desert snakes, vipers came and bit them. The people were in agony, a lot of pain.

Speaker: And Moses said, God,

Speaker: And God gave him a very, very unusual strategy. God said, take a pole, take a stick, and make a bronze serpent.

Speaker: Now, bronze, it's like a reddish color. looks a bit red. Moses said, okay. And God said, put the snake on the pole.

Speaker: And anyone who looks at it will get healed miraculously. Does that make sense in the natural? No. But that's okay.

Speaker: God is a supernatural God. So Moses did it. And the people who looked at it got better. They got healed. Amen? What similarities can you see between Jesus' story and this one?

Speaker: I know some of these are harder than others.

Speaker: Any ideas before I give you the answer?

Speaker: yeah That's all right?

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: So the sinful people. Sin literally means missing the mark. Okay? Imagine you're playing darts and you don't get a bullseye.

Speaker: The dart goes in one of the outer rings. Or you're doing archery. but your arrow misses the target entirely. That's literally what sin means.

Speaker: So morally, missing the mark. Not living in perfect holiness, not following everything God wants, everything God likes and commands.

Speaker: So the people had sinned, they were doing wrong things, and they were attacked by vipers.

Speaker: So then the Lord instructed Moses to make a bronze or a red snake and put it on a pole. And with those who looked at it got healed. The pole is a picture of the cross of Jesus.

Speaker: Now the viper was attacking the people. And when Jesus was on the cross, he became sin for us.

Speaker: He became the heart issue. He became the problem. And he buried it in hell. And the snake was red.

Speaker: And again, Jesus' blood was it I did not wear a red t-shirt just for this example, by the way. um That was prophetic. but So the snake was red and Jesus' blood was red.

Speaker: So when the Israelites looked at the bronze snake, a scary picture, an intimidating picture, a picture of their problem, they got healed.

Speaker: And when we look at Jesus, wearing a crown of thorns that we deserve,

Speaker: naked and exposed, torn with whiplashes, beaten blue with bruises. So beaten, he no longer looked like a human. That's what the Bible says.

Speaker: We get healed. He was punished so we could be healed. He was killed so we could live. He lost everything so we could gain everything.

Speaker: A life with God on the earth?

Speaker: an even better life in heaven when we die.

Speaker: and at the end of time, he will remake the world and it will be even better than heaven. It will just get better and better and better.

Speaker: You will only ever fall more and more in love with Jesus. You'll never be bored in eternity. He will just take your breath away. He will amaze you. He will excite you.

Speaker: And truly, like a fairy tale, you will live happily ever after. Amen? Okay, so they are just some pictures in the Bible of the finished work of the cross, of Jesus dying on the cross at Calvary.

Speaker: There are pictures. And when I put the PowerPoint on the WhatsApp chat later, I encourage you to read through it, i to see some stories which maybe you haven't read before. Maybe they're new to you.

Speaker: Maybe they're all new to you, and that's okay. And the PowerPoint is great. But then go and actually read the stories in the Bible for yourself.

Speaker: It's a dramatic book. It's a wonderful book. It's a lovely book. It's got romance stories, action stories, tragedies. It has everything you can possibly need.

Speaker: um But I do encourage you to read them too, little by little. And um just get caught up in the amazing love story of God.

Speaker: Amen.

Speaker: So these are pictures in the Bible of the Gospel. But now let's look at God's opinion of the cross.

Speaker: Why it was necessary. Why it happened from God's perspective.

Speaker: If there are some difficult words, I have them in a yellow box where I'll explain them to you. If you have any questions, just unmute and ask.

Speaker: or else you can write your question the chat box. I will give time for questions at the end anyway. But if you're confused during it, this is a conversation, okay?

Speaker: You don't have to wait until the end.

Speaker: Okay. So when God talks about the gospel, here's one thing he says. It is the power of God. that brings salvation to everyone who believes.

Speaker: A righteousness that is by faith. Now, righteous is a word that might be new to you. It just means you are right with God.

Speaker: God is not judging you. He is not angry with you. He loves you. He sees the best in you. And that's the power of the cross.

Speaker: Think of the cross as having two poles. One pole makes you and God good.

Speaker: And the horizontal pole gives you family, everyone in this chat and everyone in the world who believes in and Jesus. Amen. And it brings you to life on the inside. That salvation brings you inside life.

Speaker: Why is the cross necessary?

Speaker: Well, God says all have sinned, all have missed the targets, all have gotten it wrong and fall short of the glory of God.

Speaker: God has perfect standards. No human has met his perfect standards. And all are justified freely by his grace.

Speaker: You can't buy it. You can't work for it. It is a gift. If you believe, it is just as if you never sinned.

Speaker: God looks at you and he only thinks good thoughts, prosperous thoughts, thoughts of your destiny, good, perfect and pleasing plans.

Speaker: They're the only thoughts he has for you. The Bible says that more... Think of how much sand there is at the beach, okay? The Bible says that God has more thoughts for you than there is sand on a beach.

Speaker: And every single thought is for your good. air Wow. Right?

Speaker: So all of... Yep. well Go for it, Anita. You're fine.

Speaker: Can you please tell me this weird word, for the parents, how do you even pronounce that kind of word? I can't even pronounce that.

Speaker: He did, there is those pictures, so it is covering those, some of the text, but it says he did something, demonstrate his righteousness because in his four Oh, forbearance?

Speaker: Yeah, what is that? Not a word you see very often today. It just means he was patient. So, but but you're patient while something bad is happening.

Speaker: So think of all the human empires. All the murders. All the rape. All the slavery. And God was like, I hate this.

Speaker: But I love people. This is bad. But I love people. Oh my goodness, I want to stop this. But I love people. So you're patient while something bad is happening and you have to wait patiently.

Speaker: Okay? Ah, thank you so much, Merlin. You're welcome. No worries.

Speaker: So God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement th through the shedding of his blood to be received by faith. So an atonement means that if one person does something bad, you need to do something to fix the problem.

Speaker: But the problem at the heart of humanity, or the problem of the human heart, hello, So Jesus had to come as a human, experience everything we experience, and not sin, still live perfectly.

Speaker: And therefore, he was able to say, okay, dad, these people deserve to be punished. These people are crazy. But I will be punished instead.

Speaker: So they don't have to be. Imagine if you crashed your car and you did something very bad. Maybe someone died and you had to go to jail.

Speaker: And another person said, I will go to jail in your place. That's what this was, an exchange.

Speaker: And how do you receive it? By faith. By confidently believing in it. You don't have to persuade God you're a good person.

Speaker: You don't have to pray for 10 hours a day. I've got a full-time job. I don't have time for that crack. You don't have to earn 1 million euros for charity.

Speaker: You receive it by faith, by belief. And that is where theologians and religious teachers have gotten it wrong for 2000 years.

Speaker: They don't believe it's that easy. They say there has to be a catch. It can't be that simple. but it is because God is absolutely good.

Speaker: If you only remember four words today, God is absolutely good. Amen. This actually answers a little bit of my husband's question. Wow.

Speaker: You can elaborate, Carolina. Go for it. Okay. Yeah, I hope it's okay. So he's a good man. He's a really good man. um And he kind of has, it's hard for him to grasp the idea and that how come good people that do good, live good, never harm anyone, don't believe in Jesus gets to hell, but someone that has been a murderer, killer,

Speaker: and then surrounds himself to Jesus in the last second and then goes to heaven. a He kind of gets offended by this thought.

Speaker: And I've, yeah, sometimes it's hard for me to describe why. Well, it's because of God's love for everyone. It is.

Speaker: And it's because, and it's a good answer. And it's because we all need that help. And some of us might not need it in the physical very much, but we all need it in the soul.

Speaker: um For example, and I've had this Bible since the 16th of March, 2002. It's been with me of my life. And um I've got the Ten Commandments just on the inside.

Speaker: Um, so you shall have no other gods before me. I have absolutely had other gods before Jesus. In fact, when I was younger, ah but I used to pray to anyone and anything that I was told to.

Speaker: thank You shall not make um a graven image of God, a physical image of God. Okay, I didn't do that. And you shall not miscarry God's name.

Speaker: Oh, I've done that. In fact, there are people who hate Jesus because I was such a bad picture of Jesus. was going laugh. um Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy. The Sabbath is that holy rest of God.

Speaker: There were times in my life I absolutely did not remember walk in the rest and the peace of God. I was too busy trying to convince him to love me. i didn't even... i had the head knowledge that he was good, but I didn't believe it for myself. I felt I had to prove something to him by working and being religious.

Speaker: Honor your parents. Oh, I've dishonored mine. I know that much. You shall not kill. Now, Jesus said, if you hate someone in your heart, it's like your soul has injured or killed a person.

Speaker: I've absolutely been there before. You don't commit adultery. And Jesus elaborated, even having lust in your heart, not thinking someone's attractive. That's good. You should think people are beautiful.

Speaker: But wanting them, desiring them like as as an object. I've done that. um Don't steal. ah but When I was a student, I got through university on theft.

Speaker: We'll leave it there. um Don't tell lies. Oh, I have been very comfortable telling lies in my time. And don't covet what other people have. Don't hate the person and want their things.

Speaker: I've done that so often, I can't even count them. There are just 10 rules in the Bible, and already I can admit I've broken nine of them. So have I lived the worst life in the physical?

Speaker: Perhaps not. In the soul? yeah i There are times I've been fairly rotten. But the wonderful thing with God is humans try to be religious and put themselves above other people.

Speaker: But with Jesus, every person is on the same playing field. No one has an advantage. No one has a disadvantage. We're all on the equal playing field.

Speaker: And we all become right with God by one thing. Faith in the finished work of the cross. That Jesus took our sin on himself, our evil, our wickedness.

Speaker: He buried it. He rose again and said, it's done. It's finished. No more. And if you believe that, you're good with God.

Speaker: He looks at you just as if you've never sinned. His Holy Spirit immediately comes and lives in inside of you and Jesus too. So when God looks at you, he sees Holy Spirit and Jesus smiling back at him.

Speaker: Jesus is God's son. So you're a son of God or a daughter of God. And he loves you with the same love he has for Jesus.

Speaker: It is the best exchange. Amen.

Speaker: Thank you. Thank you for sharing.

Speaker: And we do pray that God opens the eyes of your husband to see that we're not in a game of religion. We're not trying to live a better life than our neighbors.

Speaker: We're all on the same level playing field. And all we have to do is say, Jesus, if you want to give us life on the inside and it's a free gift, I take it.

Speaker: And God loves us in many ways, but this is the best picture in the Bible of God's love. While we were still sinners, while we were still wrong, making mistakes all the time, on purpose, and by accident, Christ died for us.

Speaker: It also says in Romans 5 that we have been saved from God's wrath. Now in church today, we don't really hear a lot of God's wrath. That's because it's more about the future.

Speaker: In the future, there will be a time, um seven terrible years called the Great Tribulation, where God will deal with the forces of evil on an epic scale.

Speaker: But because of the cross, We will not have to live through that. He will take us to heaven, so we will not be under God's wrath, his anger. You will never see God going in your direction, ever.

Speaker: but And we've been reconciled to him through the death of his son. Reconciled means we've been brought into right relationship.

Speaker: I know sometimes in our natural families... Family life can be difficult. And sometimes we don't get on very well with our spouses, parents, siblings, children, neighbors, churches.

Speaker: But you are absolutely right with God because of Jesus. Because Jesus lives inside of you. so if god how do you think God loves Jesus, right? That's how he looks at you.

Speaker: And Romans 5, 17 says, God's abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness through one man, Jesus.

Speaker: Now, grace is a word that I personally misunderstood for very, very many years. The young adults in the chat will probably remember me teaching this before recently.

Speaker: But when I was a child and a teenager, when I thought of the word grace, I literally imagined a woman in a lovely ball gown dress walking down a staircase like in a Disney movie, like Beauty and the Beast in the yellow dress before they dance.

Speaker: That's what I thought graceful meant. And in English, it does have that meaning too. But in the Bible, grace means unmerited or undeserved favor.

Speaker: God has given you 100% favor, 100% attention, 100% love, and you can't deserve it.

Speaker: You can't work for it. You can't earn it. It's a gift. He just gives it to you.

Speaker: And again, it drives theologians crazy. And it makes religious people super angry because they want a two-tier system where they're on the top and everyone else is down below. But God, everyone is on the same level and every everyone has equal opportunity to believe the lesson you're sitting through tonight.

Speaker: And if you do, you're instantly good God. And if you believe it forever, you are instantly good with God forever.

Speaker: Now, some people will say, yeah but you know, what if you believe it and you keep on doing really bad things? Here's the wonderful thing about the love of God and the grace of God.

Speaker: It sets you free from evil. Instantly, because Holy Spirit miraculously comes and lives in inside of you.

Speaker: But also because he's there.

Speaker: Your mindset will start to change. Your desires will start to change. The things you say and do will start to change.

Speaker: Imagine if, you know, a child, when it starts to become a teenager, There's growth. Suddenly they can't wear size three shoes anymore. they're boys, they probably need start getting size six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

Speaker: Or they need to start changing the clothes, but they're too small and they need bigger clothes. or the food that they ate as children, their taste buds change. They have new appetites.

Speaker: That's what it's like walking to Jesus. He matures you and develops you into your real, true destiny self.

Speaker: Or i think of in a relationship, up whether it's a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, parents, children. When it's just you, your life will have a certain rhythm.

Speaker: But when you're connected to to that other person that you love, You will start to say things because you love them. There'll be certain things you'll stop saying because you love them.

Speaker: Maybe you don't like washing dishes, but you start washing dishes every day, three times a day, because you love them and you want your house to function. You want a good functioning kitchen.

Speaker: Or maybe you never knew how to work a washing machine.

Speaker: But if no one washes the clothes, your house will smell really bad and no one will have a clothes. So you learn more things to keep your house functioning.

Speaker: That's what your relationship with Jesus this is like.

Speaker: But you're not doing the good things to impress him or to win his love or buy his love. You already have it.

Speaker: The good actions are just responses to his love. Amen.

Speaker: And here's a super verse. Romans 8.1. Oh, friends, remember this one, because you will need to remind yourself of this every day. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Speaker: Jeanette's saying love that verse. Me too. It is one of the verses I pray the most. Amen. Why? Because we get it wrong almost every day.

Speaker: Probably every day, if you're me. We say things we shouldn't. We do things we shouldn't. We think things we shouldn't. We treat people in ways we shouldn't.

Speaker: And we can feel so judged so easily. And so guilty. Oh, I'm a Christian. Why am I doing this? Oh. No, there is not no condemnation for those who are Christ Jesus.

Speaker: You say, okay, God, today was not a very good day.

Speaker: But you are always good. Because you are good. And you were the same yesterday, today, and forever. You gave me mercy today.

Speaker: So you will give me mercy every day. It's always new. It's always good. It's always efficient.

Speaker: And tomorrow will be a better day. Tomorrow, I'm going to get it right. Tomorrow, I'm going to rely on you more. I'm going to trust you more. Less of me, more of you.

Speaker: Tomorrow, I'm not going to think that or go to that place. I'm going end that conversation. I'm going to talk to that person. to bless that person, going to help that person.

Speaker: I'm not going to get offended when that person says that. Instead, I'm to be kind and gracious and compassionate to them. No condemnation. God gives solutions.

Speaker: But he's not judging you, wagging the finger. He does not hate you. He's not making you sick. He's not giving you cancer. He's not killing anyone in your world. There's no condemnation. You only have the favor of God. There'll be times he'll give you a word of correction because he is a good, good father. And he doesn't want you making mistakes every single day that can be avoided.

Speaker: But he never hates you. He just loves you because he is love.

Speaker: And how do you know he loves you? Because Romans 8.34 says that Jesus is in heaven interceding for us.

Speaker: What does that mean? Praying passionately. He knows what you're going through, what your children are going through, your spouse,

Speaker: your parents, your best friends, He knows the people who are betraying you right now, who are trying to hurt you, who want to damage you, to stop your destiny.

Speaker: He knows the people in your heart that you love so much, who are so sick. He knows the trauma. And Jesus is in heaven right now, praying for you, praying for your prosperity, for your success.

Speaker: He believes in you. you i don't you try believing in him? Amen. Because when you're on the earth praying the same thing Jesus this is praying in heaven, that's a powerful recipe for success.

Speaker: Here's a very, very famous Bible verse, Romans 10, 9.

Speaker: If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, Jesus is master, Jesus is the God of my life. Jesus has the steering wheel, Jesus is in control.

Speaker: And believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. You'll be saved. It's that simple.

Speaker: Here's a super one. Not that I want you to start thinking about death, but it's good to know. Romans 14, 8.

Speaker: Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. When you're on the earth, You belong to Jesus and he belongs to you. And when you die, you will go not into just a mental state or an emotional happy place, a world called heaven.

Speaker: And it is super. ah Near the end of this discipleship course, we will look at heaven. I will tell you what heaven looks like. I'll tell you, I'll describe some of the creatures that are there, but not all angels, by the way.

Speaker: Heaven has lots of creatures, lots of variety. There's lot of variety on the earth. There's more variety in heaven. And we will look at what people in heaven do.

Speaker: It might surprise you. They live very full, exc exciting, adventurous, dynamic lives. They're more alive in heaven than we are on the earth. But your life with Jesus only ever gets better and better.

Speaker: That's a little teaser for the future.

Speaker: Okay, Romans 16.

Speaker: Paul says, now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message says I proclaim by Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past.

Speaker: It's a very long sentence and it still goes on and on and on. Effectively, a lot of people have opinions about Jesus. A lot of people talk about and Jesus, different parts of his life, different experiences of him.

Speaker: But Paul, who wrote all the Bible verses that we're looking at today um from the New Testament here, he describes the absolute best picture of the cross, why it was necessary and the benefits that we get from it.

Speaker: And people didn't know before he did. They were kept secret, but he was the first person God revealed them to.

Speaker: Okay, 1 Corinthians 1.18 talks about the cross saving us on a continual basis.

Speaker: That means that all throughout your life, God will continue to deliver you, to heal you, and to make you whole. Sometimes we become Christians one day and then the next day, you know, we're effing and blinding or getting angry with the neighbors or cheating on our taxes.

Speaker: but but And we think, oh God, I'm not a real Christian. Oh, nope, I'm a fake. Firstly, stop cheating on your taxes. I don't like them either. Pay them anyway.

Speaker: But there's a process. God makes you instantly okay in your spirit, straight away, that most intimate place in your in your in your being.

Speaker: But your soul, that's your mind, your will for making decisions, and your heart, Well, they have some catching up to do.

Speaker: They have trauma. They have pain. They have addictions. They have temptations. They have scars.

Speaker: And the Lord for the rest of your life will work on healing those areas of your life. Bit by bit, little by little, sometimes very fast, sometimes very slow.

Speaker: But that's okay. Jesus is the great physician. He is the best doctor. And he knows exactly what you need. And your journey will be different from my journey.

Speaker: And my journey will be different from everyone's journey on this chat. But Jesus knows the right pace and rhythm for your journey. So you just rest in him. you just trust him.

Speaker: And he will spend every day making you more and more like him your mind in your heart so that you like what Jesus likes.

Speaker: You laugh at the jokes Jesus laughs at. You tell the stories that Jesus would tell, how he would tell them. You have God's opinions.

Speaker: And that's a lifelong process.

Speaker: The best summary of everything today is in 1 Corinthians 15, 1-4.

Speaker: Christ died for our sins. He was buried. He was raised on the third day. Everything I've said today could be summarized in those three lines.

Speaker: Amen.

Speaker: And 2 Corinthians 5.

Speaker: One, that's Jesus, died for everybody. And therefore, everybody died. Now that might be a bit strange as far as phrases go.

Speaker: That means that everybody who lived before Jesus, everybody who lived at the same time as Jesus, everybody who lived after Jesus,

Speaker: everyone who's alive today, every everyone who is a allow who will live in our future. Jesus took every single person's evil thoughts, words, and actions on himself.

Speaker: He buried them in hell and he rose again once and for all time. So for people who believe in Jesus and they receive his forgiveness,

Speaker: For the people who hate Jesus forever and ever and ever. For the people who never heard about him and never will. He has buried the sins of all people for all time.

Speaker: so that's what i mean. We're all on a level playing field. All you have to do is believe.

Speaker: Can i ask the question? course you can. yeah If you go back to the previous... so yeah Yes. Because it's like

Speaker: Jesus wants us to be like him. Amen. so So when he says that... So what he actually says is that even the ones who reject you, even the ones who hurt you, even the ones who does evil against you, you should love them.

Speaker: Wow, amen. so So, and that's very hard. It's not easy. like It's hard. last some Yeah, because when you, it feels like when you are like being,

Speaker: how to say it, when you're like being yeah persecuted. Yeah. what when you Yeah, when you're doing things that you're not supposed to do, and in like in, for instance, in the Norwegian church, then then then they come against you.

Speaker: Right. yeah so even But even when they come against you, which is very hard, you just meet them with love, right?

Speaker: And just listen to what they have to say and and and and make peace. Yeah. That's basically what you should do. Amen. And that's the fruit, right, of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. That's right.

Speaker: Amen. It is. No, thank you for that. And it's not easy. And I would like to lie to you and say it gets easier the more you go on with Jesus.

Speaker: It doesn't. um Every attack is original. Every attack is... a unique case. um But we just have to do our best to love the person.

Speaker: And yeah, sometimes if we sit down with them, which isn't very easy today. Now, if someone has a problem with you, they use this and then they hide. but But if you can um just sit with the person and say, OK, what's your issue? Talk it out. Try to hear their heart.

Speaker: Very often, God will show you the back door to their heart and there'll be something you can agree on or relate them with or show compassion or agree to disagree.

Speaker: and and then there are some times you just have to forgive the person. But just keep kike heap your distance. Just say, OK, You stay over there I'll stay over here. We're not going to ever agree 100%, but I love you anyway because God loves you.

Speaker: But it's not easy. And when we get wounded or hurt by people, the first person we have to run to is Jesus and say, Jesus, my heart got broken there.

Speaker: They damaged me. It really hurt my mind. It shook my confidence. um It damaged my walk. I was going very strong with Jesus. And then I just tripped. I fell in my face.

Speaker: You have to heal me, Jesus. Put me back on my feet. Carry me like a good shepherd. Put me over your shoulders and you walk. until I'm ready to run again. but yeah, rayance brilliant observation.

Speaker: But it's also it also, it's the same because we will meet obstacles and it's it's things are going to happen in our life. It's like Judas had to to to to to to tell on Jesus otherwise it not have happened.

Speaker: So he actually had, if he knew what he he he actually did, what he had to do hey so so that's you you will meet people like that in in our lifetime so but the benefits of the the grace that God is giving us is actually that he is carrying this for us so we should yeah yeah she's just yeah we can just stay on his shoulder as you're saying right yeah amen amen because he's a good good father uh

Speaker: And he's ah he's a wonderful counselor and he wants to carry us. and So we have to let him. Yeah. Yeah. and because it's it's it We're in a relationship with him.

Speaker: But sometimes we we can think of God as some abstract, invisible force. And we're just little people down here. But that's why Jesus came, to show us God with skin on so that we could relate to him in that deeper, more intimate level.

Speaker: Amen.

Speaker: Amen. And 2 Corinthians 5.21, God made him, Jesus, who had no evil, to be evil for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Speaker: Jesus became the most evil person ever to live because he took all of our evil on himself, so that God would look at you and say you're perfect.

Speaker: You're beautiful. You're amazing. You're my child. And just like any good parent, think of a parent rocking their baby, singing a lullaby, God sings songs of love over you.

Speaker: You're the apple of his eye. He is for you. He's excited to see you succeed in life. And he is well proud of his children.

Speaker: Sorry, Brendan. Yep. So you know the way you said this, that... Oh, sorry, can you hear me? i can, Naomi, perfectly, yep. So now Jesus kind of became the most evil, in a way, the evil person in the world. Does that mean that he was also, like, worse than Satan, even? Like, he took every everyone's, or... Does that make sense?

Speaker: It makes perfect sense. um It is a thought I have had many times throughout my life. um However... Because Satan lives in eternity, you can do more in eternity than you can do in time.

Speaker: So i I won't be bold enough to say that i the metrics, that's and that you know, ah humans have done more evil than Satan.

Speaker: Very possibly. There are more of us than him. um I won't be bold enough to say yes or no. But possibly. Possibly. um But the important thing to remember is Satan and dark angels have never once been extended the opportunity for God's forgiveness.

Speaker: They were his staff made in his holiness and they chose to rebel. But humans our a family that God made in his love and he will do everything it takes to get us back.

Speaker: And the cross is the best solution you can think of. Amen. Okay. Thank you. and then And then great question though.

Speaker: Okay. So again, in Galatians, Paul says the gospel that I preached, I received by revelation from Jesus. So theologians struggle with the cross. Teachers struggle with the cross.

Speaker: Bible critics struggle with the cross. I was a Christian, i'd say from the age of six until 18, even I struggled with the cross. but but But it's a revelation.

Speaker: And there are times Jesus just turns on the light bulb and you just get it. It goes from head knowledge to heart knowledge. And Paul was the first person who had the full revelation of just how good the cross was.

Speaker: um But by God's grace, he wrote it down um so that we can all share in that great adventure and excitement of God's grace, his love and his favor.

Speaker: Galatians 2.20, he says, i no longer live, but Christ lives in me. Now, does did Paul live at this time? Yes, he was alive to write it down.

Speaker: But what he's saying is his sinful nature, the old man who he had been before, which was a very, very wicked individual, by the way.

Speaker: No. When God looked at him, he no longer saw that. He just saw the holiness of Jesus shining out of Paul. And that's how he sees you, too.

Speaker: He's not judging you by your worst mistake. Instead, he's already in your tomorrow, making a way to give you a successful tomorrow. And he yet only has good, perfect, pleasing plans for your future.

Speaker: Why? Because Holy Spirit is in your heart. And Holy Spirit is crying, abba Father, Daddy, Dada.

Speaker: papa cetera That means you are a son or a daughter of God. It's like he's adopted you. He has signed your adoption papers in heaven. And not only are you his child, but you are an heir of heaven.

Speaker: Meaning when you go to heaven, you're going to property there. but but but Jesus is already there building you a mansion or whatever kind of property he knows you would like best.

Speaker: And, uh, You will only ever be rewarded by God in heaven. He just loves you that much. He's a giver.

Speaker: He has an entire world to give, and he wants to give it to his children, to people.

Speaker: God is actually the best salesperson. Imagine God is a human. i work in for like one of those door-to-door companies. He'd be phenomenal. He'd make a fortune.

Speaker: In Ephesians, he refers to believers or Christians, people who believe I'm teaching it tonight, as his holy people. Or his church.

Speaker: His body, Jesus with skin on. Jesus was God with skin. We are Jesus with skin. The fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Speaker: When people look at you, they should see Jesus. They do see Jesus. And even if you think, oh, I don't know, I don't know enough of the Bible. People can't learn about Jesus from me.

Speaker: Be patient with yourself. Just continue to read the Bible, to come to courses like this, churches on Sunday, to spend time talking to God. If you don't know what to say, just talk about your day.

Speaker: He will talk back. And you will be very, very surprised by how quickly people begin to see Jesus in you. And it will change their destiny forever.

Speaker: It will change their eternal trajectory.

Speaker: Because through Jesus, you have access to the Father by one Spirit, Holy Spirit. You could be hanging clothes on the clothesline.

Speaker: You could be lying in bed two minutes before you fall asleep. You could be sitting on the toilet, going for a walk. And you can immediately talk to God the Father because you have access to him now because of Jesus.

Speaker: And you're not just walking alone. You're the member of one body. Imagine every Christian on earth is a cell, like all the cells of a human body.

Speaker: And we're all showing Jesus, showing up, showing Christ, carrying Christ's power, love, compassion and authority, carrying his DNA, working together. That's why we come together in these Zoom calls, or why we meet together for conferences, revivals and church.

Speaker: It's because, yes, walking with Jesus this is great. But when we walk with his people, there's a special blessing in that too.

Speaker: If a human body only had an eye, it wouldn't do all that much. You need everything. We need each other.

Speaker: And because we have Jesus, we have the gospel of peace. Peace is a beautiful word in the Greek. It means you have total health, total welfare.

Speaker: All the essential parts of yourself are joined together. You have God's gift of wholeness. Even if you feel traumatized or afraid or broken, you continue to walk with Jesus and step by step,

Speaker: He will bring all those into alignment. Bit by bit, you'll see him fix it all.

Speaker: And again, in Philippians 121, Paul writes, For to me, to live is Christ. So when you're on the earth, you're showing Jesus because you have him.

Speaker: And to die is gain. When you're in heaven, it gets better and better and better and better. You might look at some of the creatures here on the screen and think they are freaky deaky. What the heck?

Speaker: Heaven's a world. Its creatures don't look like the dude I'm here. Just roll with it. But don't worry, I will do a heaven special in a few weeks. So when you die and go to heaven, you will not faint and need to go to like heaven's hospital.

Speaker: but you will you will You will know what to expect. Not that heaven has hospitals and we get sick in heaven, obviously.

Speaker: Philippians 2 is beautiful. It says Jesus made himself nothing. Because remember, Jesus is the king of heaven. Hello. And he came to the earth and became a carpenter and then became homeless missionary that people just disliked.

Speaker: So he Jesus made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant. Being made in human likeness, he came as a human.

Speaker: And being found in appearance as a man, he came him as a human. He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.

Speaker: The Roman Empire are known for many things. Julius Caesar's assassination, Rhodes, empire, and torture.

Speaker: They were master torturers. They knew how to kill a person, and the cross was the most wicked way.

Speaker: Therefore, because the king of heaven became the slave of man, metaphorically, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.

Speaker: So because the highest became the lowest, God has made him the highest. He sits on the same throne as God. Now don't worry, they're not top of each other. Heaven's big, okay? They've got enough space to ah for their legs. They're okay.

Speaker: But it's the same throne. They're sitting together, father and son. And that's why when we pray, you'll notice we often say in Jesus' name, amen.

Speaker: You're praying that whatever, whoever, wherever, whatever it is, that Jesus is over that situation. There's power in his name.

Speaker: Okay, we're almost there. Just seven more slides or so.

Speaker: God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us.

Speaker: He has taken it away, nailing it the cross. Lots of legal language there. That just means that

Speaker: if you If every time you do something wrong, imagine you're stacking up more and more jail time, for example. And next thing, Jesus comes and takes the fullness of your punishment.

Speaker: but And nailed it to a cross and says, you will not be punished. It's not necessary. The only thing you're getting is God's forgiveness.

Speaker: His fave or his love. The payment has been made. It's cancelled. It's done. Finito. Final. Zilch. Nothing. That's what Jesus did for us.

Speaker: He paid it all. So you have to pay nothing.

Speaker: And yes, I've already said he's made your spirits alive. And he's making your soul better and better each day. But 1 Thessalonians 4, 14 to 18 talks about a special event in the future called the rapture.

Speaker: You might be alive for it, you might be dead for it, but Jesus will come back in the blink of an eye with trumpet and go, do-do-do-do.

Speaker: And every Christian's body, alive, dead buried um in ashes because you are cremated will be remade.

Speaker: You won't be obese, no tumors, no missing limbs, no artificial teeth from your dentist. Your body will be remade perfectly.

Speaker: We'll go into heaven. And instead of living in heaven as a soul and a spirit body, You'll be back living in heaven in three d why Because he's God.

Speaker: but but Because when he made Adam and Eve, they had a perfect body, a perfect soul, and a perfect spirit. And he wants you are perfect. He wants you at 100%.

Speaker: So he will eventually have perfected every part of you. Spirit first. Spirit first. soul, day by day by day, and eventually even your physical body.

Speaker: Is it necessary? No, but he's God and he wants to. us but So yeah, it's great. But again, i know that's probably a mad thing some of you have never heard of before.

Speaker: we will look at that near the very end of this discipleship course.

Speaker: um Because it does require more independent study and focus.

Speaker: Okay, Titus 2 says that Jesus gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness. Not a little bit.

Speaker: Not some of it. Not most of it. All of it. And to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what's good.

Speaker: Not happy with evil. Not lazy. Not lazy. excite, enthusiastic about doing good work. um So I have found in my life, personally, as a child and a teenager, especially, I had the head knowledge that Jesus had died for all my sins.

Speaker: I did not have the heart knowledge. I believed I could be forgiven for telling white lies I did not believe i could be forgiven for putting people in hospital that I physically attacked.

Speaker: I had the head knowledge that Jesus had died for all my sins. I did not have the heart knowledge that I was forgiven of pornography.

Speaker: I had the head knowledge that I was forgiven for all my sins. I did not have the heart knowledge that I was forgiven for absolutely hating people and destroying people's destinies.

Speaker: And eventually, at the age of 15, there came a day when I picked up this Bible and I said, God, I need a life change.

Speaker: Help. I need my life to change completely.

Speaker: And I opened it up. And the very first line on the first page I opened was the Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 14.

Speaker: And Jesus said, you may ask anything in my name and I will do it. And I said, Jesus, I need a life change. And you know what?

Speaker: Instantly, probably from within a week, the number of things in my life that began to change. I had no friends and suddenly I did.

Speaker: i had been a teenage depressed kid before it was popular and trendy on social media. And suddenly was breaking depression off me. I had been chained by trauma.

Speaker: And suddenly I knew what freedom was. I had been terrified to speak, and suddenly I could. My jaws, I couldn't smile. Smiling was literally physically painful for me.

Speaker: And suddenly I could smile. I was terrified of being happy. Because I thought if I was happy, something bad would immediately happen.

Speaker: That's where my mind was. And suddenly I could just have the joy of the Lord word and laugh. A good belly laugh. That's the transformative power of God.

Speaker: And he doesn't just forgive a little bit of your sin. All of it. I believe that was true for other Christians. I didn't believe it was true for me.

Speaker: But eventually i had to make a decision. Is God a liar? Or was I just wrong? And the mistake was not with God.

Speaker: The mistake was with me.

Speaker: That is why I am so, so passionate about the finished work of the cross being taught. it's Not the cross as a historical event, which it is.

Speaker: Not to cross as a sad event that got happier 72 hours later, which it did. But the finished work. That the old you is dead and the new you is alive.

Speaker: And in Titus 3, the severe last Bible verse for today, Jesus saved us. Not because of righteous things we had done.

Speaker: but because of his mercy. Sorry, that's not Jesus. God saved us, not because of righteous things. God saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Speaker: Holy Spirit enters you as soon as you believe, supernaturally. You can't convince him, you can't work it. He just comes in and he begins changing you on the inside.

Speaker: He makes your dead spirit instantly alive and he begins working on your soul. Your soul's a work in progress. It takes all your life, but it's okay.

Speaker: And he poured out Holy Spirit generously through Jesus Christ, our Savior. So that having been justified by his grace, may just as if you had never done a wrong thing in your entire life,

Speaker: we might become heirs having the hope of its eternal the life. Eternity starts the second you first believe. Eternity starts on the earth.

Speaker: It continues in heaven and continues into the new creation, the new earth. Now, remember what I said. More numerous than sand on seashore are God's thoughts for you.

Speaker: Because eternity lasts a very, very, very, very very very very very very very really very long time. Doesn't end. And it just gets better and better.

Speaker: And for ages untold, you only learn more and more about the goodness and grace of God.

Speaker: And it's a gift. You cannot work for it. You only have three options. One of which I recommend. but You can reject the gift.

Speaker: I don't recommend that. Because if you reject the gift, in death, you will suffer what Jesus tried to protect you from.

Speaker: Which is another world. Called H-E-double hockey sticks. Hell. It is a very harsh place. But ah not a place holidaymakers want to go to.

Speaker: um It is a place where you live to die and i and die and die forever. Whereas heaven is a place where you live to live. Option two, you accept the gift.

Speaker: Holy Spirit enters into you and eternity starts there and then simultaneously.

Speaker: And the third thing you can do with a gift. You might do this sometimes at Christmas. like If you're given a gift you really don't want. You're like, oh, wow, thank you for these lovely size two socks that I can't fit into.

Speaker: oh delightful. you have a receipt? You accept it and then you return to sender. You go to Penny's, Dunstores, Lidl, wherever this the socks came from, Maxx, and you exchange them for a refund.

Speaker: That's when someone initially says, yeah, okay, I believe, I believe in the class. But then as time goes on, they say, you know what, Jesus, I i'd prefer to be my own God, my own master, my own Lord.

Speaker: And then they do away with Jesus. They say, i don't need your gift. I don't need your salvation. I'm i'm okay. Just me. But ah that is a lie. That is a delusion. And not one that I recommend. not one that will make you happy for very long.

Speaker: um So guys, that is just about it from me. Does anyone have any comments, questions, concerns, or thoughts on any of that? Or that all clear?

Speaker: ah You said something about God's name. But you said it differently. I can't remember or how to how did you say that?

Speaker: But is it the same thing? Not taking... When you were talking about 10 commandments. yeah yeah Yeah, sure. It says do not say his name in vain.

Speaker: But you said it in different... Yes, friend i yeah. I said don't miscarry. The name of God. So it can be translated two ways.

Speaker: And it is the same as don't take it in in vain. Yeah. So don't take it in vain means don't say it like a close word. Don't say it casually. Treat it with honor and respect.

Speaker: Don't miscarry his name is more physical, meaning don't misrepresent him. ah Okay. Thank you for explaining. explanation. Well done on identifying that I gave a different translation. Good job.

Speaker: And needs i also see that in the chat box you asked for a little preview as to the variety in heaven. Yeah. So heaven has angels.

Speaker: Where you have, let's say, you have your guardian angels who are with you your whole life.

Speaker: Heaven has a temple and God has angels whose job is to run the temple. God has choirs of angels, angels who sing to him.

Speaker: He has the heavenly host, which is his army. the host of heaven and they train in the furthest reaches of heaven.

Speaker: Oh, hold down and i don far on.

Speaker: Yeah. So imagine the earth where you have with yeah the North pole and Antarctica, that would be the equivalent of where they train, where they come from.

Speaker: um Because theyre they're soldiers. They train in the harshest environments. Like, my brother is in the Irish army. And he trains, like, in in the bogs, in the mountains, in forests.

Speaker: um He trained in a barracks, which had no roof. ah but Because they need to be strong to fight demons. right and You've also got cherubim.

Speaker: Cherubim, Jesus does not need bodyguards, he's Jesus. But Cherubim surround his throne. On earth you would say that they look like animals, but they have wings.

Speaker: Some have one face, some have four faces, um some have two wings, four wings, six wings. And this is creepy, but it's heaven, just go with it.

Speaker: They're covered in eyeballs. In eyes. So God can see what's happening around the earth. Why? Because he's God.

Speaker: And he has seraphim, which are creatures that fly around him. They look like snakes that are on fire with wings. But they're not bad.

Speaker: They're good. They're not in pain. It's heaven. It's just how they look. Because it's heaven and why not? Heaven is extraordinary.

Speaker: And then there are people there too, obviously, who've died and gone to heaven. It's just the most wonderful place. um But toward the end of the course, we will look at heaven in particular. We'll do a whole night on just the world of heaven.

Speaker: it is all super. Okay, can I ask a question? You can.

Speaker: So you were talking about those angels that are training. Are they literally training all the time?

Speaker: Well, they'll train and then they'll go fight demons and then they'll go back to training again. Because i humans know how to strategize and plan for war because angels have been doing it for longer.

Speaker: I just say, hey thanks Naomi, goodnight. um Because in the angelic forces, the angels, they've been training. To be honest, they were probably training before the fall.

Speaker: Before a Lucifer turned evil, they were probably training then. Because God knew eventually having an army would be necessary. um He's powerful enough. if He doesn't need an army.

Speaker: But they help us. but but but So, um yeah, it's it's it's their job. And the archangel Michael is their leader. oh um And yeah, it's ah it's it's what they do.

Speaker: Wow. So those host, how do you pronounce that? Yeah, the host. Yeah, the the heavenly host. So they are the same host. Angels that are um coming to warring for us when we are praising the Lord, the Lord is sending those same angels to warring. fight for us, yeah.

Speaker: Exactly. And 13, 27, tells you- Can think like that?

Speaker: and tell that You're fine. numbers It tells you that these roaring angels, heavenly host, they come from the end of heaven. The farthest reaches of heaven.

Speaker: So it would be heaven's north pole or heaven's south pole. but but Because they need to be strong. And that's where they train. I have never ever heard that thing before. That's not like...

Speaker: Like what? Not, not, not pardon. What? Like a maze, you know? Heaven is one of my favorite things to teach on. I love teaching on heaven. Heaven's just fantastic.

Speaker: Oh. Come on. Because a lot of people think of heaven as a place. It's not. It's a world. It has its own operations, its own creatures, its own food.

Speaker: Its own activities. um Things that people like to do. And because it's eternity and there is no time, you can do a heck of a lot in one Earth Day. and And you never miss out on your destiny.

Speaker: And you never miss out on your heavenly purpose. And you live to live. And you are 100% all the time. It's just... all the time it's just Phenomenal.

Speaker: But it's got angels, it's got staff, and there are things that they need to do. And the hosts are particularly busy. And especially on the Earth.

Speaker: I've been a seer since 2017. i would say since 2020 in particular, and from then on. The hosts of Heaven have been incredibly engaged in things on the Earth.

Speaker: Because the level of evil on the earth right now not just far away in the far east, but even in the Western world, in Europe, in America,

Speaker: um evil is trying so so hard. To totally take over. To destroy the church of God. To a wipe out Israel.

Speaker: That the heavenly hosts are incredibly busy right now. They have been unleashed on the earth. Big time. To help them fight the forces of evil.

Speaker: And to expose evil people.

Speaker: Wow. Yeah. so So there must be like millions of those people. warring angels. Possibly billions, maybe trillions.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Whoa.

Speaker: Come on. A lot.

Speaker: I am we like, oh, no all this information, I am processing it all. And I'm like, what? Not a very busy place. No, it's not quiet. It's got lots of activity.

Speaker: Well, so you so when I say what you understand, I'm a not saying pardon. I'm like, oh, and the the shock. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah So not being not being.

Speaker: and No, no, hold on. um Not.

Speaker: Oh, How do you say that? Not being rude. Correct. Yes, so I understand. Then I'm like, what? You're so amazed by heaven, you can't even think English right now. You're just thinking of heaven, heaven, heaven, heaven. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, heaven is just fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. Wow. Yeah. Oh.

Speaker: But ah the word the Bible has a lot to say about heaven and little by little, we're going to look at this because a lot of Christians try very hard to convince the lost or the wicked to go to heaven.

Speaker: And the Christians can't even describe what heaven looks like. The Christians can't even talk about it. It's like, why should I go to heaven? So you can go into the throne room and sing to Jesus for forever.

Speaker: Uh-huh. You want me to be a Christian so I can sing?

Speaker: Literally. That is what I've heard people teach on heaven before. And that was literally the only incentive they had. You will live forever and sing.

Speaker: What if you don't like singing? But you you know, Christians, just they just don't know. but ah But you will.

Speaker: You will. Stick on this course, and you will learn heaven's secrets. You know, Brendan, you have so funny way to talk and teach. And i am just laughing so hard.

Speaker: Like.

Speaker: Oh. No, you know what? With the Bible, Seguon? I like it. It's good. yeah Yeah. Good. Good. No, the thing with the Bible is.

Speaker: God has a lot of secrets hidden in it. Secrets we call revelation. But the revelation is hidden from demons.

Speaker: It is hidden for us. But we have to consult Holy Spirit and say, God, give me eyes to see what is actually happening here.

Speaker: Show me more than I'm able to see. Give me the belief and the bravery to accept the parts that maybe you instinctively would say, hardly, good one. Because there's so much good news in here, but we don't really believe...

Speaker: A lot of Christians believe in a bit of good news, but not their best news. They want to put a cap it. They don't want to believe it's limitless.

Speaker: But if we just say, God, you said it. So it's true.

Speaker: The revelation in this book is phenomenal. Phenomenal. yeah Yeah. And heaven is just incredible. Wow.

Speaker: I see the Lord has given you a lot of revelation, a lot of wisdom. Thank you. Wow.

Speaker: Oh, by the way, now i have to tell you, I had a vision. Okay. And you were talking about Carlos Láthus.

Speaker: Yeah, that is the correct word in English. but I saw water, a lot of water coming out of you when you were talking about love of the God. yes Amen.

Speaker: And then we're going to pray for each other. different issues we're going through personally, academically, relationally, ministerially. Want to create a space where we can stand together, pray together, hold each other up, support one another.

Speaker: um And then Thursday, which in Ireland, it's Samhain. In other countries, it's all Hallows Eve or Halloween. I'm going to do another teaching that night, actually, looking at the origins of Halloween. Halloween, or Samhain, began in Ireland.

Speaker: but but Normally, I only have good things to save at my country. I am incredibly patriotic. But Samhain, I apologize, world. But um we're going to look at why Christians should not be celebrating it.

Speaker: Because a lot of Christians do. lot of Christians compromise. a lot of Christians say, oh, it's fine. I can redeem the day ph for Jesus. But we're going to look at the origins of it and see just how inherently demonic it actually is.

Speaker: and And then the week after that, um i look forward to meeting some of you in person in Holland. and My reasons for going be different. I'll do some holidaying. I'll go for the Anne Frank Museum, the Rieks Museum, Van Gogh.

Speaker: It looks different when I'm teaching people who have been Christians for a few weeks, a few years, many years.

Speaker: You have to adapt it. to your audience. Sometimes I'll know what to do. Most the time, i just need Holy Spirit to tell me.

Speaker: um And then that's why I'll regularly say, okay, any questions? Any comments? Any concerns? Any criticisms?

Speaker: You can ask me questions at the end. You can interrupt me here if you like. Because people are at different levels in their journey, in their faith.

Speaker: People have had different experiences. And you can use the word love. God loves you. o But some people don't associate love with good things.

Speaker: Maybe someone said, I love you and betrayed them recently. um Or even talking about... let's say the Bible verses today had the word sin, righteousness, justification.

Speaker: You'll notice I said evil, right with God, just as if you had never sinned. Because some people have been Christians for years and their first diverse language is English, so they'll know those words already.

Speaker: International people might not recognize those words in English. there And you believers might not know what sin is.

Speaker: Maybe they heard abusive religious leaders say, you're a sinner, and beat them up as children. yeah no But if you use the word evil or wicked, they'll have a different connection or relationship with words.

Speaker: So you can have a Holy Spirit gift. But you need the skills and Holy Spirit sensitivity to teach your learners.

Speaker: So could you tell me what is that word, adapt? I don't understand that. To change, to be flexible. That's word. next Yeah, to...

Speaker: yeah so to be flexible two let's say if I'm teaching children about Adam and Eve, for example, yeah you probably would not talk about how they were naked, at least not in detail.

Speaker: Because if so ever if a parent walks in and you're talking about naked people, 999, hello, I need the police, it looks weird.

Speaker: But if you're talking, let's say to 17 or 18 year olds, they might kind of go, fuck me. And you can laugh. ah And then you say, but you know, the temperature was fine. Okay. They weren't cold. that they they They were, they're married. It's it's okay.

Speaker: But if you're talking to adults, then you can say, yes, naked means physically naked. But in the Hebrew, it also means that they were protected.

Speaker: They were secure. They were covered in holiness. It's physical and spiritual. They were transparent before God. They would talk to Jesus about everything.

Speaker: Nothing was off limits. m It's still Adam and Eve. but you have to adapt it for children, teenagers, adults, your different audience.
