There are conversations that scrape at old wounds, and then there are the ones that open them. Talking about suicide — your own, your child’s, your family’s — is one of the hardest things a parent can ever sit through.
In this episode, my daughter Mikayla returns to Mark My Words to walk with me through some of the darkest chapters of our lives. We speak openly about my suicide attempt, her attempt, and her sister’s attempt — not as headlines, not as cautionary tales, but as the lived reality of a family that has fought its way back from the edge more than once.
I won’t pretend I was composed. I wasn’t. There were moments I could barely hold myself together. But this conversation matters. It’s raw, it’s painful, and it’s full of the kind of truth families carry quietly for years.
