Introduction to Passive Income for Photographers

00:00:01
Elena Blair
All right, empowered photographer. Welcome back. Let's talk today about the truth about passive income for photographers and how to get started. so You probably hear that that buzz phrase going around passive income, how to make money in your sleep, all of that, right?
00:00:17
Elena Blair
And the truth is not everyone is ready for this. So if you've been thinking about becoming a photography educator, here is the truth about passive income. So if you've been in business a couple of years, you have systems, people are starting to ask you if they can pick your brain.
00:00:31
Elena Blair
It's time to start thinking about this.

Leveraging Photography Skills for Income

00:00:33
Elena Blair
And so i want to just talk a little bit about what does it really mean to make money while you sleep? So for us, truth be told, every morning I wake up and I look at my software and I have made a thousand, sometimes five thousand dollars literally while I was sleeping. That does happen.
00:00:46
Elena Blair
But let's get one thing straight. Passive income is not easy money. It's about creating something really, really valuable one time and setting up systems so it continues to sell long after the initial work is finished.
00:01:00
Elena Blair
So think about it this way. When you're ah photographer, ah photo session means that you have to trade hours of work for dollars. You actually have to show up to the photo shoot, do the photo shoot, edit, deliver all of that, right?
00:01:11
Elena Blair
With passive income, you are going to create something and it's going to take some time to create it. But then once it's created, you have this piece of content that can make you money all the time, anytime. anytime So how does this work and why does it work really well for photographers?
00:01:26
Elena Blair
So as a photographer, you already have everything that you need to build this. You've built a skill set that I promise you people want to learn.

Creating Marketable Photography Products

00:01:34
Elena Blair
So maybe you know how to pose. Maybe it's lighting, editing, marketing.
00:01:38
Elena Blair
Maybe you have an amazing client experience that works really well that somebody could also use for their business. These are all skills other photographers are going to gladly pay for because you're collapsing a timeline for them. You're getting them from A to B faster without all of the mistakes that you made, right? And especially works when you package these things up in a way that's simple and actionable and inspiring.
00:02:00
Elena Blair
So like I said, here's a few examples of what that might look like. a self-paid A self-paced course online, posing guide, a preset pack, an instructional video showing behind the scenes of you working a workflow template.
00:02:13
Elena Blair
It's really endless what you could create. And you don't need a massive following to do this. In fact, you just need to attract the right people. you that It's better to have a more niched following than a massive following.
00:02:25
Elena Blair
So here's the math. Say that you make a class and you price it at $197. That's a no-brainer price. And when I say no-brainer price, it means that people don't have to think long and hard about investing.

Building Effective Sales Funnels

00:02:36
Elena Blair
If you're able to create a system where you sell just five a week that's about a thousand dollars in additional income per week nearly four thousand dollars a month from something that you created one time and you can sell over and over again to many and the truth is you don't need millions of followers i don't have millions of followers you don't need a viral reach you just need clarity and consistency and here's the secret sauce
00:03:00
Elena Blair
You need to understand sales funnels and understand how to create one that does the work for you. That's where the passive income part really comes into play. So a solid funnel nurtures your audience, builds trust, and turns your audience into students.
00:03:16
Elena Blair
Once that's built, it does run quietly in the background and generates steady income while you focus on other things in your life.

Understanding Audience Needs

00:03:24
Elena Blair
So how do you get started with this? And so most photographers should begin by starting to ask their audience if they're clients or if they are photographers.
00:03:35
Elena Blair
So my guess would be if you put a poll out on Instagram today, which I would encourage you to do that and say, how many of you here are here for my pictures? How many of you here are other photographers? I bet more than half are other photographers.
00:03:47
Elena Blair
Bing, bing, bing. All right. So you're already starting to build your audience. You didn't even mean to. And you were already starting to. And then the next thing I would ask is, what is something I can help you with today? That's where you start to see what your audience needs and what they already see you as an expert in. So for me, I get asked about posing and marketing every single day. I get asked how to find clients every day.
00:04:07
Elena Blair
No surprise. I talk about how to get clients. I talk about business and so business strategy. That's one of my favorite things to talk about. Notice that I don't get, I don't have a class on lighting. I don't get asked about lighting. That's not my thing. That's not, I mean, I'm good with natural light. I don't teach it though.
00:04:21
Elena Blair
So I'm just giving you an example of like the vast amount of things that you could be teaching about. If you just start that right now, you could start generating that audience that will eventually generate income.

Upcoming Classes and Resources

00:04:34
Elena Blair
If this is something that you're interested in, I actually have a new class. It's almost completely full, starts on January 5th. So if you're listening to this after January, well, we'll get you next time. um And it's all about how to create a course and learn how to sell it on autopilot. There's a lot of classes out there that will teach you how to create a course, but they don't teach you about that sales piece, that funnel piece.
00:04:52
Elena Blair
Mine will. And my funnel works. It's worked year after year after year. So I'm going to link the class here. But if you're not ready to take a class or you're not even sure if this is something you want to do, i created a seven page workbook that's going to walk you through how to start creating passive income as a photographer and see if this is the right next step for you.
00:05:10
Elena Blair
By the way, like I said, if you've been in business a couple of years, this is an opportunity that you should take advantage of. All right, photographers. See you next time.
