Understanding Credit Scores

00:00:41
Speaker
Guys, I want to share something really interesting. Have you ever heard the term credit score? A credit score is a number based on the statistical analysis of a person's credit files. That in theory represents the credit worthiness of that person. There are different methods of calculating credit scores. The most widely used type of credit score is the FICO scores. Did you know that there are 28 different FICO scores? Imagine that.
00:01:04
Speaker
If you are wanting to buy a car, you might check your credit score on a free app. You walk into a dealership thinking, you know, you got a pretty good score, feeling confident until the dealership pulls your credit, and it's drastically different than your free score. The solution? Extra credit by credit.com, the sponsor of this episode. With extra credit, you can access the 28 different FICO scores so you can see what the lenders see.

Interview with Razak Akaretti

00:02:23
Speaker
Welcome, everyone, to another episode of the Gen Zers to Rise podcast. Today's episode is a little bit different with us in the studio as Razak Akaretti, and we will try to give an answer to the question, Metaverse, is it really the future? Razak is into innovation in tech, a change maker, global citizen, sustainable development, goal expert, STEM expert.
00:02:44
Speaker
Soon, he will be featured on BBC Africa. Welcome to the show. So nice to meet you, Rizak. It's very nice meeting you guys. Me hearing first about the topics, and I was like, wow. Of course, it's really something I really love to share my thoughts on them, different things. So definitely very nice and lovely to meet you. About myself, in the right language for things, I am really
00:03:12
Speaker
love, you know, working towards the main sustainable development goal, which has to do with solving different types of problems. And definitely for the meta, you know, I really believe in the future of the metaverse. I really love stuff that has to do with imagining what you actually want in the form of a visual reality. And definitely different companies there in
00:03:36
Speaker
Legos in Nigeria are really working towards that and meeting up with the courts in those char revolutions and the different things and the skills we've chosen there to work on. I just want to let people know. First of all, did I catch that you're from Nigeria?
00:03:54
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, from Nigeria. Oh, yeah, my roommate from one of my best friends, she's from Nigeria, her name's Adara, but I just want to let people know that Metaverse by Meta is the, Meta is what's, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what Facebook is turning into. They're rebranding into Meta. And, yep, so for anyone who doesn't know, and they're creating a whole new Facebook platform like in the Metaverse.
00:04:23
Speaker
For these Metabars by META, let me just explain what I really understand about it.

Exploring the Metaverse

00:04:30
Speaker
What I'll just say about the Metabars is just the next evolution in social connection and the successor to mobile internet. Just looking at it, reality to be very realistic.
00:04:45
Speaker
You know, like just imagining the set of digital space that you can move seamlessly between. Like the internet, the meta was actually help you to connect with people when you aren't physically, when you aren't really physical in the same place and get also even closer to that feeling of being together in person. Yeah, so yesterday I was watching a video of the new development meta I was actually making and then I was very loud, of course. I was like,
00:05:14
Speaker
You know, you should be playing the table tennis game and then you should just be, you know, seeing someone just using the VR machine to just get in close to you. Then it's very real. Like, it's very awesome. So definitely I'll say, though, we'll be moving towards different types of generation and it's definitely meant to us. We'll be the people, definitely. So, um, and for this one,
00:05:44
Speaker
Which is, is it true that we can find everything inside the Metvas, including shops, food, brands? Yeah, definitely. Of course, as I was explaining about the video I was watching yesterday, you know,
00:06:00
Speaker
Yes, definitely it has advantages and disadvantages. So the advantage is just to make work easier for people to be able to get in some things they need. But these disadvantages, definitely robots, AI, they feel. So this kind of thing should actually be the disadvantages just because of the failure and definitely some confidence
00:06:28
Speaker
Meta, should I say... First, I will have a company in Lagos, Nigeria, which is Ed if I didn't see. So, he's working towards just NFT bringing NFT into the network also. And I think that's really lovely because when you walk into us, different logic systems just bring in this type of NFT stuff into the network.
00:06:53
Speaker
Well, I just think, I know I want to talk about the disadvantage. I think it is disadvantage like emotionally because I don't, I'm really, this really scares me because I think, yeah, I do see Metaverse being the future. I think
00:07:10
Speaker
People are like, oh, we're not going to all be connected through these VR sets all the time, 24-7. But it's like,

Virtual vs. Real Experiences

00:07:17
Speaker
we're kind of already like that. We've got our phone up to our face 24-7 already. So it's just scary to me that I can just see the world. I think already we need to be a little bit less on social media and whatnot.
00:07:34
Speaker
I know that it's like not, like you said, we can be in a boardroom together all across the world, this and that, but it's like, is it scary to anybody else, you know, to think, because I feel like as humans, we would definitely get sucked in quickly. Yeah, and for me, the real question is, do we really need this? Is this really the future? We tend to pretend that this is the future, but do we really like the future to be like this?
00:08:04
Speaker
Like I am saying that because we have seen several examples from other companies in this tech world that they are trying to change their mind view. Like Snagset for instance, instead of creating a virtual world like Meta is doing, they are
00:08:20
Speaker
like posting their users to use the real world and be connected through the real world using like AR and if you're answering through real experiences or like there is the new social media app that's called Vreal that you can post only once a day every 24 hours and you don't have comments, you don't have reactions, you are connected only with your friends
00:08:49
Speaker
At the moment, definitely. I really love what you said. I'm not saying that I don't think that we should do metaverse, but I'm a little bit worried. We need to be mindful about it. What do you think? What you're talking about now is the scary part that some people might be scared when they get to see this, right?
00:09:16
Speaker
For this kind of VR, you know, getting started, we actually need to start with, we're starting with VR and AR, which is the visual reality and the augmented reality track. So when we're talking about games, when you're playing this,
00:09:32
Speaker
these horror games, you know, it actually makes you feel, you know, you're actually inside the game, no cutscene playing this, or you're actually the one playing it by yourself. So for that part, I feel that one is actually scary, if you don't actually have the mind to play that type of game, definitely. So for this scary part, and definitely no one can actually be scared, you know, of course,
00:09:55
Speaker
You're in Lagos, Nigeria, you know, actually using it for example, for an example, without saying something very, very new, you know, that's actually what makes a product actually rush. So when you actually see this, when we see this new product, you actually
00:10:14
Speaker
could be very very tasty for this type of video. So definitely I don't think it's actually this scary for people first to be like, man, it's actually something new. And definitely I really want to use it. So I don't think it's actually. I want to use it too. I'm not, I'm not scared. I mean, it sounds exciting. Like I just watched a video about it and it looks really cool, but I'm nervous that people are just going to be in it 24 seven. But it's like, you know, what can you do? I guess.
00:10:44
Speaker
Okay, so as a developer, what I can actually do right now is, you know, creating a course where, you know, we just have to actually balance it. Where people use this course, where people do this, where people do that, you know, we just have to do it. So I'll just say we should just maybe like create a course for people to, you know, understand the main
00:11:10
Speaker
you know definitely we actually in the internet age and people
00:11:16
Speaker
where we'll be on work. But I don't think anyone will actually be scared. Well, speaking of some of the crazy, I know we talked about the video games, but I've seen crazy stuff. Like, I think there was like a Travis Scott concert held in the Metaverse, which was really cool. What do you think about
00:11:41
Speaker
people like buying, using their real money for digital stuff. Like just- That's scary. Okay.
00:11:49
Speaker
Yeah, very, very. You know, my friend was asking that, I will be, you know, spending money in the visual world. Like, can't we be eating in the visual world? No, we can't be eating in the visual world. So for that aspect, for spending money in the visual world, man, you never just have to put that aside for now. Of course, I don't think it is possible to find something in the visual world.
00:12:15
Speaker
I think it's so crazy that humans, instead of going out and doing this stuff, like going to the restaurant or something, they'd rather just go to a visual world to have a human experience. It's kind of funny. You know, for going to the supermarket to buy something.
00:12:34
Speaker
You can go to the virtual supermarket and buy virtual stuff for your virtual house, which is really weird. Another cool thing that I saw kind of dealing with Metaverse was they had a drink. It was like, what is this?
00:12:53
Speaker
I'm sorry. It was like a drink. Now we're at Thanksgiving dinner. Amazing. And they were using it was just like water, but they were using a combination of like lights and smells. And it was like, now you're drinking like a tequila. I'm like, that's, that's very cool and crazy to really walk. But walk will be very easy for this education one.
00:13:15
Speaker
For this education, I really, really understand what my organization is working towards, Global6. In Global6, we're working towards our goal is just to solve the top six problems we're facing in Africa and then from there, we get organizations like the United Nations, the WHO, UNICEF, and the likes. We just work on the project with us, you know, bringing education into the network so learning can actually be very efficient and everyone can understand the main purpose of it.
00:13:45
Speaker
that's amazing so you're using the metaverse to actually help and like uh spread education which i really like um and then you know with the metaverse the idea is that it should be easier to connect with a lot more people yeah yeah yeah yeah well you know basically we just need to you know get it um boo boo
00:14:07
Speaker
involve new Google Play developers and the likes we need to get involved in this type of things we want to

Debating the Metaverse's Potential

00:14:15
Speaker
do. Also, Metaphor developers. I'm actually one of the Metaphor developers working towards creating this type of social messaging so we can just understand the main. But we're still checking the kind of problem and
00:14:49
Speaker
Let's elaborate a little bit more into the subject. Do we need special equipment to access the Metaverse? What do you say?
00:14:56
Speaker
The equipment is when it is just something in right in front of us. The phone computer also will be sure you have the device. Well, I love, this is all very exciting. I love to ask everyone right before, like one last question. What are we most excited about, about the Metaverse? It could be like a possibility. What's most exciting to you about the Metaverse?
00:15:28
Speaker
I can go first. I think what's most exciting to me is the opportunity to meet with people around the world. I think we mentioned like, this is crazy, but you mentioned like the United Nations at some point. How funny would it be if the United Nations just met in the metaverse and stuff? So I liked that. I liked the idea of being able to connect without being limited by distance.
00:15:57
Speaker
From my perspective, I think that it's quite interesting to see how this will work in the future, but I am a little concerned about the fact that we will visualize everything and maybe we will lose the real perspective of the world.
00:16:14
Speaker
maybe it will be more difficult for us to understand real problems because for me, when you are living in a virtual world, it means that you are creating a new whole different verse, like the metaverse word, to live in, and then you maybe create more problems than they do not really exist.
00:16:40
Speaker
but then you made your mind to burn out. It's not something that we want to happen for me. Yeah, and I'm a good, I'm a good guest. So, for the United Nations,
00:16:59
Speaker
You know, they have meetings every year. My role is in Kenya, you know, bringing in different results from different countries. So, what I just find about that is just very stressful. Personally, we have the methods outside. We have skills to be moving from one country to another. When you can just put on your PR machine and then...
00:17:22
Speaker
You have to think everyone like that. You speak with everyone. You know, one thing about the Net Bass is, and I really, really find it very, very, you know, I was very surprised when I saw the chickens.
00:17:33
Speaker
You can actually shake. You can shake there. It's not just that. I don't know how to put it. Should I say you won't feel it or you won't feel it. Of course, I'm not really trying to do it. I'm still trying to do it first. I'm still trying to force my cools together. So, you know, shaking is really something very cool.
00:18:00
Speaker
You know, it's just like you have a new telephone machine, you can just use the telephone on the board. So definitely it's really, it's really, it's also both for the food experts eating in the visual world. All right.
00:18:15
Speaker
I think that this is the end of the episode. What do you think, Metaverse? Is it really the future? It's up to you now. Thank you Razak for being with us today.
