Introduction to Type One Together Resources

00:00:24
Raquel
Hey everyone, we're doing a little bonus episode today and we're really just gonna go over all that Type One Together offers because we are realizing that it's a lot and it can probably be a little bit confusing to sift through and know what resource is meant for you or what you should go towards. So here's just a little overview. It'll be a really quick episode um so we can break down a lot of our free resources and paid resources just so that you can kind of navigate Type 1 together how you want to.
00:00:55
Raquel
um But first, let's say you're brand new to diabetes, or at least brand new to Type 1 together.
00:00:55
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:01:01
Raquel
We provide products, resources, community and babysitters and support to Type 1 families and their kids, right? So we're really focusing on helping, especially to UND parents, and then we also have some fun things sprinkled in there for the kids themselves. I'm Raquel. I'm the founder of Type One Together. I was diagnosed with TUND when I was five. And there's just so many things that I wish I had earlier on in my diagnosis. And I know that my family also wishes they had a lot more. So we're really just trying to fill those gaps.

Amanda's Personal Story and Transition

00:01:31
Raquel
And Amanda here.
00:01:34
amandacberg
And hello, I'm Amanda. I am director of parent support for type one together. My daughter was diagnosed when she was 26 months old. I was on maternity leave um with a four month old at the time. And so it was quite the whirlwind and it was a very, very challenging.
00:01:53
amandacberg
a reality shift, I guess. um I am a former NICU nurse. I still have my license. And essentially I quit my job and then little by little dove into community because I was really unhappy with the education and resources I was getting solely from our endocrinologist's office. Like no no shade on them. just they They can only give you so much and I needed so much more.

Living Without Restrictions with Type 1 Diabetes

00:02:23
amandacberg
And um slowly through trial and error, I figured out, you know, a management style that suited our life because I was determined to make sure that my daughter had a childhood first and foremost, and it wasn't defined by diabetes. And so, again, little by little, I figured out how to get there and um used my my nursing background, my general understanding of how the body works and disease processes to tweak some things and now I'm here to teach all of you how to do it and to share the raw and real of parenting a young child with type 1 because it's tough.
00:03:05
Raquel
Yes. And you can go back into our earlier episodes and hear both of our stories much more in depth. And you'll kind of see that we don't gatekeep anything here, especially on the podcast. We really try to share everything that we possibly can. And it's important to say that we are not doctors. We do not give medical advice. However,
00:03:22
Raquel
We share the real from our personal experience, which I think counts for a lot. And here at Type 1 Together, you're not going to find us advocating for restriction or like certain types of diets or anything like that.

Type One Together Babysitter Service

00:03:35
Raquel
We really believe in being able to be a kid or an adult with Type 1 diabetes and still have great blood sugars. like You can have it all, and it doesn't mean that it's going to be perfect, but it's important to find somewhat of a balance.
00:03:47
Raquel
so
00:03:48
amandacberg
Absolutely. Yeah, let's get into everything we offer, but I'm going to let you take it away because you are our founder and CEO and our very first offering.
00:03:50
Raquel
with them
00:03:59
amandacberg
That's the most popular thing is your brainchild. So go for it.
00:04:05
Raquel
Well, yeah, so Type 1 Together originally started as a babysitter connection service because I saw that that was a huge need in the community. So our number one offering is our 2ND babysitter list. That's kind of how it all began. And we connect families to sitters who have an understanding of Type 1 diabetes, whether they have it themselves, they're a nurse, they're a sibling of a Type 1, something like that.
00:04:26
Raquel
um When you get access to our lists, which is a little bit under $30 for the entire year, you get to access our updates every single week. So anytime there's a new sitter, you're going to see them on our big list. You get access to all of the states. We even have some international sitters as well. And if there's no one in your area after three months, we will refund you. So um it's a really awesome resource. It's been so cool to hear from parents who have had amazing experiences and gotten a night off and there are so many benefits to having a type 1 sitter because not only are you getting a break as a parent which is so necessary but your kids can also be inspired by type 1 sitters. I mean I've had so many cool experiences with type 1 kids where they were too afraid to do a site change themselves or try a new site location and because I was there doing it with them it changed their journey like they were able to make that switch and
00:05:23
Raquel
I even had a babysitter that we had on the podcast a while ago, um who was type one, who really changed my perspective when I was a lot younger too. So we have over 2000 sitters and now as of August 2024 on our list, we have more and more joining every single week. So definitely check that one out.
00:05:42
amandacberg
I love that. um My daughter said no, no, no to stomach sites exclusively until she really understood that Raquel used her stomach all the time.

Connecting Families and Community Support

00:05:54
amandacberg
And then she decided she was brave enough to try it and now her stomach is her favorite. And that is so great because her thighs needed a break.
00:06:03
Raquel
I feel that.
00:06:04
amandacberg
Yeah. Okay so the next thing that we offer is our team together list and this list is a free resource and it's aimed at connecting families. So essentially you sign up if you want to donate you are welcome to help keep it going but it's getting bigger and bigger with every passing week and um you put in, remind me, the kid, how old your child is, and then the parent email, right?
00:06:36
Raquel
Yes, very basic information.
00:06:38
amandacberg
Yeah, and that is in an effort to provide privacy and protect people at all costs. And again, we don't take legal responsibility for any interactions that may occur, but um you can look up families that are in your area. And if you notice that there is a child that's maybe around your child same age,
00:07:01
amandacberg
relatively close to you, then you can just email that person and make a decision on whether or not you want to meet somewhere public and safe. um Just so, you know, families can connect and kids can connect. So that is our team together list.
00:07:17
Raquel
I love that one. Community is so important and it really goes with the whole type one together

Educational Video Course for New Families

00:07:22
Raquel
theme. So I hope that that one gets bigger and bigger because it's really special.
00:07:23
amandacberg
Yes.
00:07:27
Raquel
um Okay.
00:07:27
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:07:28
Raquel
Our next resource is our course, our self-paced video course, T&D diagnosis made simple. This is the first big project that Amanda and I worked on together. And again, we've talked about this more in depth in previous episodes, but the main idea is when you get home from the hospital, you have a ton of random papers and a huge binder and books and it's overwhelming.
00:07:49
Raquel
So how could we simplify that so you could literally just put on little tiny digestible video clips or put on your AirPods um and not have to even like sit there and watch something and just listen to us talking through our experiences in very digestible terms.
00:08:05
Raquel
So I'll let you share a little more about that.
00:08:06
amandacberg
Yeah, yeah, this was, so basically I sat down and just started writing out the disease process in the way that I came to understand it after a year time.
00:08:21
amandacberg
And it was all the stuff that I like either knew inherently right away or didn't know and learned over time or the stuff that they have in that like Pink Panther book that every single person gets.
00:08:36
amandacberg
sent home with that's like, what is type 1 diabetes?
00:08:37
Raquel
Yeah.
00:08:40
amandacberg
But you don't want to read that. You don't want to go home and read that. You just want to like pull your hair out trying to get to the information that is basically the bottom line. And so it is an educational resource that is coming from two people who are living different versions of type 1 diabetes every single day.
00:08:59
amandacberg
And we really stripped down what is this disease process? What are the things you absolutely have to know? what are the things that um are a little more like quote unquote advanced that we will brush on so that you're aware that they are there and then you can dive into those more advanced concepts once you get your feet under you so you walk away going okay I have it fully covered I know how to take care of my kid and I understand finally what questions to ask and what to push back on
00:09:31
amandacberg
and what to what to take note on and things like that. I'm really proud of this one because it just helps families like get up to speed. It was everything I felt like I wish I had known in those first six months, just in one hour of video clips.

Masterclasses on Diabetes Management

00:09:50
Raquel
Yes, it's about I think 90 minutes of video content broken up so you don't have to like watch through the whole thing if you just want to go back to a specific topic anytime you totally can and you do get forever access to the course meaning you can always refer back to it.
00:10:04
Raquel
You get a couple other additional like downloadable resources. There's a bonus module where you talk about toddler tips and tricks.
00:10:10
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:10:11
Raquel
um And we also have gotten a lot of feedback from families who have gotten this course and given it to their children's teachers or to the grandparents or to the babysitter, like different people in their life who just need an overview of the basics of type 1 diabetes. So I think it serves a lot of different purposes, which is cool.
00:10:30
amandacberg
Absolutely. Okay, so our next thing that we offer is our slew of master classes. So if you are new to the type 1 diagnosis, or if you feel like you you still don't have the basics, even if your child is not newly diagnosed, so and you watch through T1D diagnosis made simple, then we offer all these masterclasses that dive into the nuanced topics that live within type one.
00:10:59
amandacberg
So those masterclasses include an Omnipod 5 auto mode masterclass, a tandem T-Slim masterclass, a travel...
00:11:10
Raquel
Well, tandem, Moby, and T-Slim, sorry, really fast.
00:11:12
amandacberg
Oh, sorry.
00:11:13
Raquel
It'll be control control IQ in general, so both will be covered, yes.
00:11:17
amandacberg
Okay, because it's the same algorithm for both of the pumps.
00:11:21
Raquel
Exactly, yes.
00:11:22
amandacberg
Okay.
00:11:24
amandacberg
A travel with type one masterclass, a nutrition with type one masterclass, and then we have a couple coming soon as of August 2024.
00:11:39
amandacberg
um Sick day masterclass will be sometime in the fall of 2024. And then all things type 1 diabetes in school. So 504 plans, um individualized student health plans, how to advocate, who to go to, all of those topics will be covered and celiac with type 1. So did you want to go through each one of those?
00:12:07
Raquel
A little bit. Well, I guess, so each masterclass is around 60 to 90 minutes. I think most of them are 90 minutes. And just to clear up some confusion here, a lot of these we do offer live and then afterwards we'll continue to allow people to purchase the recording. We're also going to switch some of that up. We're kind of seeing what works best for everyone's schedules. Some of them we might just move straight to a recording model, models um but For example, like the Omnipod 5 Masterclass, we will run it live and sometimes you'll see that, but just because it's not currently on the schedule doesn't mean that you're not able to get it. So if you're listening to this now and you want to get the Omnipod class, the Travel Masterclass, or the Nutrition one, those are all available right now.
00:12:49
Raquel
um The tandem one I am going to be putting on again very soon and also revamping so that a recording is available. And then like Amanda said, the rest of them are coming soon. um And if there's ever topics that you want us to do a masterclass on, please let us know. um Are there any specifics of the auto mode one you want to go through?
00:13:09
amandacberg
um Only the with the auto mode one, when we do host the live version of it, it gives you a chance to submit your questions in that moment. um And then Meg and I, we adjust each auto mode masterclass based on like the questions so that we make sure that our presentation fully covers all of your questions.
00:13:35
amandacberg
And then throughout the masterclass, you can of course submit in the Q and&A box. And if we have time, we try to get to those as well. A lot of this is just like, we're sharing our experiences, right? So you can read a handbook a hundred times and so still not have the answers to your unique experiences. So I think the thing that is so unique about these masterclasses is that we're sitting here saying, hey, this is what we have done. like this is how we live our life and these are the experiences that we've had and this is how we've gotten around them in relation to type 1 diabetes and so they're just really valuable. Another question that we get all the time with the auto mode specifically is should I take it, should I take the master class before we even start the pump? Like before I get the training from OmniPotter, the training from my
00:14:29
amandacberg
kids endo office and the answer is it is up to you and that is I wish I had a better answer but it's up to you have to be able to evaluate where you're at mentally and emotionally because it is a masterclass it is a deep dive into how the algorithm works and why it works the way it does and what you actually have control over and So what I tell families is go on Omnipod's website, watch the couple YouTube videos that like very briefly explain what Omnipod 5 Auto Mode is and what it does. And if you feel like, oh, that makes sense, that's easy peasy, then yeah, purchase the Masterclass.

Group Coaching Program

00:15:12
amandacberg
If it feels like it's over your head when you're watching it the first time, well, do your training, get started on the Omnipod 5 and then come back and rewatch the Masterclass and it will make sense eventually. So just throwing that out there.
00:15:25
Raquel
Yeah. And that's a good point. I don't know if I already said this that you also get forever access to all of these recordings. So whether you come live or you purchase it, you can always rewatch it. Um, and I don't even think that we introduced Meg fully yet. So if you're new here and you don't know, Meg is type one together is dietician. And she also lives with type one diabetes. So, and she's like an omni pod expert. Um, so Amanda and Meg lead that one together. And I have to say, I'm like,
00:15:51
Raquel
super proud of what they've done for that one because we've gotten the most incredible feedback on that class. Even diabetes educators saying that they've gone back to their own patients and they're making changes and people just see such a change in how they're understanding the algorithm. So um really, really cool stuff that you all have done with that. And then Meg also leads the nutrition class and will be doing the celiac one as well.
00:16:14
amandacberg
Yeah, the sick day one, Raquel and I will be leading though, just so everyone knows because I have two toddlers and so I know a thing or two about sick days with diabetes.
00:16:25
Raquel
Oh, yes.
00:16:26
amandacberg
is
00:16:28
Raquel
Okay. Our next thing is our Better Together group coaching, which we are about to open enrollment for for our third round.
00:16:39
Raquel
And we created this group coaching program because we've gotten so much feedback about people wanting more. Like we said, we don't gatekeep or hide anything or any of our information, but there just is something different.
00:16:51
Raquel
about getting on calls with other parents who get it and getting on calls with us and being able to talk through your specific questions and situations instead of just listening to us talk about a hypothetical situation on the podcast.
00:17:03
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:17:03
Raquel
um So Amanda, do you want to explain our format for this?
00:17:08
amandacberg
Yeah. Okay. So before I get into that, I do want to say that like really understanding the nitty gritty of type 1 diabetes, you have to slowly but surely build on concepts.
00:17:21
amandacberg
And even though we are, like Raquel said, we don't gatekeep. We're on Instagram. We're sharing tips and tricks all the time. It's very hard to build thoroughly on concepts via just like social media.
00:17:33
amandacberg
So We created this group coaching program in an effort to make things just like really uniform and concise. And so our new way of doing things is we will have six weeks and each week Raquel and I will be recording a 60 minute um presentation of module material and so each week like I just mentioned the concepts build on each other from the basics of type one to the nitty gritty nuances of type one all the way through and we touch on pretty much every subject you can think of in terms of living with type one.
00:18:13
amandacberg
And then the people who sign up for this will receive that recording on Monday and the homework quote unquote is to watch it so you have to watch the 60 minutes before we have our group meeting via zoom.
00:18:30
amandacberg
And then we will have a group meeting on Zoom and spend another 60 minutes going over your guys's questions. We will have back and forth conversation. We love going over your guys's graphs and talking about, well, when did you dose? How much did you dose?
00:18:50
amandacberg
what food did they eat and what order did they eat it? When was activity? When was nap? you know And we kind of like break everything down. And in doing that, you learn your child's unique needs, but at the same time you learn other from everyone else's experience and then you can apply it to to your own real lived experience. So it's a really awesome program and we've seen a lot of success from it so far.
00:19:17
Raquel
Yeah, lots of big A1C drops and just feelings of having freedom again, like a lot of parents will enter the course just feeling so trapped by diabetes and um they understand by the end that they can let their kid eat the cake or whatever and like still have awesome results.
00:19:36
Raquel
And the really cool thing about this program is you get a group me, which is ah an app where you basically can message with other people with all of your other call group members, and that group me never goes away.
00:19:37
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:19:42
amandacberg
Yep.
00:19:48
Raquel
So even from our first round that we did, gosh, it has to be almost a year ago now, Um, people are still talking in that every single week and it's a really beautiful thing to see. So you're getting that community, which is such a huge part of it.
00:20:00
amandacberg
have
00:20:01
Raquel
It's not just about talking to Amanda nine. We recognize that. Um, so yeah, we're excited to open another round of this and you get forever access to all of those calls as well.
00:20:14
amandacberg
Yes. And you also get forever access to T1D diagnosis made simple if you have not purchased that yet.

Live Course for Grandparents

00:20:21
amandacberg
So you'll get access to that. And if you feel like you have the basics down, you don't really need it. Use it to send to the parents who live in a different state and are wondering what's going on or, you know, coaches in the future or whatever.
00:20:36
Raquel
Yes. All right. Our next course that we offer is our 2ND Grandparents course. We've done this one for several years now, and it is a live course that's also six weeks. I lead the whole thing, but we have guest speakers almost every week, so Amanda comes on a couple of times to talk about her own experience with her parents and how they manage everything. um We talk about just you know emergency situations, all the things that could go wrong, all the things grandparents can be super worried about.
00:21:05
Raquel
um And then we also have Anna, who's a diabetes educator on, and she goes over the basics of type one, more the management side of it. And then Meg, our dietician, also joins us to talk all about food, which tends to be the biggest question for grandparents. Like, what can I feed my grandkid? And they're so nervous to do so. um This has always been one of my favorite courses because these grandparents just want to help so, so badly and they're so scared. And whether they live close to their grandchild and are able to You know hang out with them a lot or they just see him a few times a year they don't know what to do they don't even know what to say and like how to talk to their grandkids about type one and that's really important for just building a well rounded relationship. So we go through it all and there's sixty minute calls every single week.
00:21:50
Raquel
They get a bunch of additional resources. They actually get access to like our travel masterclass and um a nutrition ebook that I'm going to talk more about in a second. Lots of discount codes for my favorite brands and additional printable resources and forever access to those calls and presentation slides as well. So we are currently enrolling for that now. It's going to close here pretty

Super Parents Community and App Features

00:22:13
Raquel
soon. So if you want to hop in, get in while you can. And yeah, that's a really, really fun one.
00:22:19
amandacberg
Yeah. Okay. Our next um thing that we offer is our super parents community in the honey health app. So this one is, I feel like confusing for a lot of the people who follow us on Instagram.
00:22:34
amandacberg
Cause they're like, wait, where are these extra videos? It's a whole separate app.
00:22:36
Raquel
here.
00:22:38
amandacberg
It's called honey health. It's a green app with a white H in the middle. and it is an app dedicated to all things diabetes, and you can choose which groups within the app you wanna be part of. We run the Super Parents Community Group. And within this app, we upload tons of videos, so many tips and tricks. um I'm currently in the middle of doing a series answering all of your burning questions about pump therapy for those of you who are on MDI.
00:23:11
amandacberg
ah We touch on everything. And there's more than just Raquel and I. There's lots of creators on there in the Super Parents app who are um recording videos and tips and tricks. And then there's also a community chat. um And then you can connect to your child's CGM data as well. And it has unique data insights, which is really cool. So an example of that is like,
00:23:39
amandacberg
it'll um take in your child's data for a week. And then on Sunday morning, it'll be like, hey, notice lows during this time might want to change that carb ratio or add a bit more protein to breakfast or something like that.
00:23:53
amandacberg
And it's actually helpful. It's pretty cool.
00:23:55
Raquel
Yeah, it's super cool. And this is a totally free app. And there are so many videos in our content hub. I'm saying we probably have, well, we upload about 25 videos a month, something around there.
00:24:08
Raquel
And like Amanda said, it's us, but it's also Meg. It's both of our diabetes educators, Kaylee and Anna. And then we have a lot of guests that hop in there too, because we can't always dive into deep topics on Instagram.

Financial Accessibility and Product Offerings

00:24:21
Raquel
And so if you want your questions answered on loop, DIY loop, for example, Andrew did a whole series of probably 10 videos going into each little part of loop, or there's things on Omnipod and all the tandem pumps and nutrition and celiac and all of these topics that we we really get to go deeper in on.
00:24:40
Raquel
So um I would definitely suggest checking out.
00:24:40
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:24:42
Raquel
I mean, there's, it's free. Like there's no reason not to, in my opinion. So a fun one.
00:24:45
amandacberg
Yep.
00:24:48
Raquel
um We have over 800 parents now in our group there, so there's a lot of cool connections happening there as well. um Okay, before we go into products, I want to just touch really fast on courses and just mention that we understand that not everyone's able to access these courses financially.
00:25:06
Raquel
And I just want everyone to know that like we're not trying to take advantage of anyone here with diabetes. We purposely offer so many free resources as well.
00:25:17
Raquel
And at the end of the day, like Amanda and I are a tiny team. We don't have a huge team of people. I think people think we do. um And we're we're doing everything and we need to you know cover our own diabetes expenses and
00:25:23
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:25:30
Raquel
um our lives and so we really really thank you and appreciate the support and also know that we're so willing to work with families on things we have a lot of payment plan options available we offer partially sponsored spots or fully sponsored spots for certain things so don't hesitate to reach out and be open with us about where you're at we're really here to help you so i just wanted to throw that out there okay
00:25:50
amandacberg
Yeah. Love that. um Products. You go for it.
00:25:58
Raquel
and
00:25:58
amandacberg
Is the products or your thing?
00:26:00
Raquel
Yeah, so you may have seen our little diabetes, they're hand crocheted stuffed animals that live with diabetes. um My cousin Megan, she hand makes every single diabetes that is sent out and this was just kind of a project that came out of the pandemic when we didn't have all these offerings at the time and, um, people didn't really need babysitters as much. And so we, we leaned into making these diabetes and you can customize them with different colors. You can get whatever devices your child has. We do diabetes for the month now as well, that are different every single month. And they're a little bit smaller, a little bit less expensive, and they have Velcro patches. So your kids can actually change their sites with their diabetes. Um, and you can mix and match the patches.
00:26:46
Raquel
with all the diabetes of the month that you decide to get. We also sell the device patches by themselves. If you want to just sew or stick on the devices to your own dolls or stuffed animals, you can do that.
00:26:57
Raquel
um But it's just kind of like a ah fun project that we do. They're super cute. They're so high quality and well made. Like every time we're at an event and we have the actual diabetes on our table, everyone's just in awe at them.
00:27:10
Raquel
And so am I.
00:27:10
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:27:11
Raquel
My cousin's so talented. So yeah, that's just kind of a fun thing we do. It's a really great option for a diversity gift or a birthday gift. And if you're listening to this now, just know that our cutoff for holiday orders is pretty early usually.
00:27:25
Raquel
I think it's typically by the end of October because again, they're handmaids. They do take a while for Megan to make.
00:27:31
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:27:32
Raquel
um So definitely get those orders in for holiday gifts early if you want them.
00:27:37
amandacberg
They are literally the cutest things. We are slowly but surely collecting quite a few of them. And Hattie, my daughter has them in a box and they are her little like, where are my diabetes stuffies?
00:27:53
amandacberg
Where are my diabetes stuffies, you know?
00:27:53
Raquel
ah wrong Yeah.
00:27:55
amandacberg
It's always, it's always like, okay, we need to change the pump. We need to change the Dexcom. ah And it's just, it's really helpful um for these, for all, people of all ages love them, but like it is seriously so helpful for little kids when it comes to pump changes and just having a little buddy who understands what they're going through.

Social Media and Newsletter Engagement

00:28:17
Raquel
Yeah. They're so sweet.
00:28:19
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:28:19
Raquel
Okay. And then a couple of the random products we have. Um, so Meg did make a eating with diabetes ebook for us. So that is all things food and diabetes.
00:28:29
Raquel
And she really goes through like. the different micronutrients and macros and how they impact your blood sugar and just all the things. um That is an e-book, so that means that it's only electronic. You're not getting a physical copy. I just want to make that clear, but it's a great resource that people love. We do offer two and e-coloring books. So for these, for each one sold, we donate one to a newly diagnosed family in the hospital. We've partnered with some amazing hospitals across the country, including NYU, Stanford, right, to give out these coloring books.
00:28:59
amandacberg
yep
00:29:01
Raquel
And everyone in the book is a real child from our community who lives with type 1 diabetes. We had a type 1 artist turn all of these fun pictures that were submitted by parents into coloring book pages.
00:29:12
Raquel
And we really tried to mix up the ages and the devices so that everyone can hopefully find someone in the book that is similar to them.
00:29:18
amandacberg
Yep.
00:29:20
Raquel
And it's just a really fun thing. So those are available.
00:29:21
amandacberg
Yeah. Love that one.
00:29:24
Raquel
And then we do have some fun stickers available, like some Diabuddy stickers. And um in the fall, we do a collaboration with Gretchen. Her company is Stitch, I think is what it's called, or Stitch.
00:29:35
Raquel
um And she makes these awesome embroidered sweatshirts, where like on the sleeve, it'll say, together, if we type one together, and then on the front, we have like a juice box smiley situation.
00:29:48
Raquel
So look out for those.
00:29:48
amandacberg
So cute. One of my favorite sweatshirts of all time.
00:29:50
Raquel
They're really comfy.
00:29:51
amandacberg
Yeah. They're so comfortable.
00:29:52
Raquel
I always grab that sweatshirt. Like I'm like, oh, Kelly, you really should wear some of your other ones, but I always want to wear that one.
00:29:56
amandacberg
No, same.
00:29:58
Raquel
So comfy.
00:29:58
amandacberg
I'm obsessed with it. Yeah, okay. And then moving on to the rest of like our free resources, which is basically all things social media. So Instagram, we're at type one together. TikTok, same thing at type one together.
00:30:17
amandacberg
um We post pretty much daily on both of those platforms, tips, tricks, funny reels, trends. just like It's just a space to ah go to this page if you're feeling super isolated and alone and you're like, oh my gosh, there are thousands of people just like me. I am not alone.

Free Resources and Curated Storefront

00:30:38
amandacberg
um and Then you learn a tip or trick or two to make your management easier.
00:30:44
amandacberg
um And then the newsletter, do you want to talk about that? Because that is your baby.
00:30:49
Raquel
Yeah. um The newsletter, it's just great to be on it because, as you can tell, we have a lot of different things going on and new things coming out all the time.
00:30:57
amandacberg
ah
00:30:58
Raquel
So it's kind of hard to keep track. And we try to fill everyone in every Tuesday with our main newsletter and then any other like diabetes of the month that are coming out or other fun podcasts or projects that we're doing will be sent out through there as well. You can sign up through our website. um And then we also do have a Facebook group. It's not super active from our side anymore, but there are lots of new parents joining every single day. So you can chat with people in there if you have a question.
00:31:25
Raquel
For other parents, you can drop it in there. I think it's just called the Type One Together Parent Community. and Also, we have a lot of free resources that are available through the link in our bio in Instagram, which we're going to link all of these things probably in the order that we discussed them today in the show notes of this episode.
00:31:30
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:31:43
Raquel
But we have things like a free carb estimation guide that was made by Meg so you can kind of figure out when you're out at a restaurant how to dose for things. um Amanda, you have a couple of really great ones.
00:31:51
amandacberg
Yeah.
00:31:53
Raquel
Can you explain those?
00:31:54
amandacberg
Yeah, one of the first ones I did was I shared um my preschool guide that I typed up myself. So instead of like using a template or anything like that, I just went on and basically explained type 1 diabetes and then explained when dosing needed to happen, when it was time to use CGM for her pump versus when you shouldn't.
00:32:20
amandacberg
um things like that and ah it's a PDF so you you cannot like print it out and use it. It's just supposed to be a template for you. And I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for like if you're going into public school, but if you are if you have a very young type one child and you found a small private preschool that is willing to take on the care, it's a great starting point, great template to work off of.
00:32:46
amandacberg
And then um we we made like a cute little game where you have your have your kids.
00:32:52
Raquel
Yes, it's like a coloring activity.
00:32:56
amandacberg
Yeah, there's like a few pages of um different foods that your kids can color in. And then the game is like, which one needs insulin? And so I've done this a few times with my girl where I'm like, okay, the left column is foods that need insulin and the right column is foods that don't need insulin. So she'll put, you know, like a grilled cheese sandwich on the left and then a broccoli flour on the right or whatever. And it's just something to get your kids, you know, starting to think about that stuff.
00:33:25
Raquel
Yes. And we do have some exciting things coming, like in the free resource hub um for kids. So just stay tuned on that. And anytime you're looking for anything that we offer, if you go to our Lincoln bio on Instagram, there's everything there. So.
00:33:41
Raquel
I know it can be hard to find things, but hopefully that helps. And then last thing I want to mention is we do now have an Amazon storefront. And this is where Amanda and I compiled a bunch of our favorite products that are easy to get from Amazon. um Some snacky things, lower carb snacks, carb for low blood sugar, youre sorry, snacks for low blood sugars, adhesives, adhesive removers, the food scale that we love, all the things are there. And we also have asked our community to contribute to that as well. So when you all tell us, hey, this product was really helpful,
00:34:11
Raquel
we'll add it to our storefront too so that everything is on one page.
00:34:15
amandacberg
Perfect. All right. I think that covered it for now. I'm sure I'll see you again in six months for another one of these updates.
00:34:21
Raquel
Oh my gosh, so many things. Okay, well we love you all so much.
00:34:24
amandacberg
it
00:34:25
Raquel
Thank you for your support and we're always here if you need anything. Bye!
00:34:29
amandacberg
Yes. Thanks, you guys. Bye.
