Speaker: Recording again.

Speaker: We're recording again.

Speaker: Doing over again.

Speaker: You know what time it is?

Speaker: What time is it?

Speaker: That's not my normal intro, but hey there, everybody.

Speaker: Welcome back to Pixelate.

Speaker: My name is Kevin.

Speaker: With me, as always, is Phil.

Speaker: It's not a normal episode, though.

Speaker: It's not a normal episode.

Speaker: So listen, folks, we had a... What's going on with your hair?

Speaker: Oh, there's a thing.

Speaker: There's a thing in it.

Speaker: There's a thing on the wing.

Speaker: It's a fuzz.

Speaker: We had an interview scheduled with a fine fellow...

Speaker: who had to cancel.

Speaker: He had a family emergency and had to cancel.

Speaker: So here we are.

Speaker: We were originally going to do this last night.

Speaker: He was apologetic, but had to cancel.

Speaker: So now tonight we have no body to put in the marsh.

Speaker: No body.

Speaker: There's no body to put in the marsh.

Speaker: Sometimes there's just no body.

Speaker: Sometimes there's just no.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I feel like there's never you ever see the movie.

Speaker: It's the eight heads in a duffel bag.

Speaker: That's peshy, right?

Speaker: That's Joe peshy.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I never saw that one.

Speaker: No.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: But you can't, it's kind of an impossible name for a movie.

Speaker: You hear it once and it's kind of stuck with you, you know?

Speaker: Like I knew enough to say, yeah, that was Joe Pesci, but the God's honest truth is I have no idea what it's about.

Speaker: I assume seven to eight heads in a duffel bag.

Speaker: It's really what it is, does what it says on the tin.

Speaker: It's Joe Pesci starring in a movie about eight heads in a duffel bag.

Speaker: Sick.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So that was back in the 90s when, you know, you were cheeky.

Speaker: It like little cheeky titles like that.

Speaker: Put it right on the nose.

Speaker: You know, people don't mind.

Speaker: They'll call you clever.

Speaker: They'll call you clever because you just said what it is instead of giving it a thematic title.

Speaker: You were just honest.

Speaker: People love honesty.

Speaker: That's a fact.

Speaker: People love sneezing into the camera.

Speaker: I do.

Speaker: So what do you say we just skip over to what are you playing?

Speaker: I love this plan.

Speaker: This plan is my favorite plan.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Let's see.

Speaker: And I think because it's a it's it's a special episode, I think we should go back and forth.

Speaker: Instead of just one of us starting.

Speaker: The first thing I want to talk about.

Speaker: Oh, I shout out to Sigma Sal and our discord who recommended nights in tight spaces.

Speaker: I completed the demo of that.

Speaker: I don't know if it's coming out this year or next year, but it's basically a D and D fantasy take on, um, um,

Speaker: Fights and, was it, yeah, Fights in Small Places.

Speaker: Fights in Tate Spaces, yeah, yeah.

Speaker: Tate Spaces, I can never get the name right, which I really liked, which is a, it's a deck builder strategy action game where you have, you're building up your deck, you have a certain type of fighting style, and you're using cards to take out a number of people on this long, very difficult, frankly, road,

Speaker: where you basically you have one shot to complete the adventure.

Speaker: And if you don't, you just start over from the beginning.

Speaker: But like a lot of Roguelikes, you've built up some stuff and hopefully you've been level up and everything like that.

Speaker: I really enjoyed it.

Speaker: I enjoyed it enough that I actually made

Speaker: a playlist of like 90s alternative and and like electronica and stuff because it just seemed fully appropriate to me.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: So I was kind of excited.

Speaker: I had not heard of this Nights in Tight Spaces thing and it was really fun.

Speaker: I will say.

Speaker: it made me think a little bit of if anyone has played fights in tight spaces and there was an expansion for it and the expansion involved weapons and stuff.

Speaker: And it just made things a little more complicated.

Speaker: Hey Munch.

Speaker: Hello.

Speaker: Long time no see.

Speaker: I know it's been forever since you've seen her.

Speaker: I know forever, forever ago, a lifetime ago.

Speaker: Hey, kid.

Speaker: How you doing?

Speaker: Good.

Speaker: Good.

Speaker: I'm glad to hear it.

Speaker: Did you just wake up?

Speaker: No, I've been awake.

Speaker: Oh, you've been awake.

Speaker: I've been awake the whole entire time.

Speaker: Oh, okay.

Speaker: That's good.

Speaker: I didn't sleep.

Speaker: Good.

Speaker: You're just chilling out in your room?

Speaker: Mm-hmm.

Speaker: I want to sleep, though.

Speaker: I can't do it.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Cool.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Well, why don't you crab walk on out of here?

Speaker: Do it.

Speaker: Crab walk.

Speaker: Funny kid.

Speaker: For those of you who don't know, Kevin came and visited his he and his family came and visited me here in Virginia.

Speaker: Virginia weekend.

Speaker: And it was a lovely time.

Speaker: We went apple picking.

Speaker: It was very apple picking.

Speaker: It was quaint as hell.

Speaker: It was it was bucolic and Norman Rockwell as fuck up in this bitch.

Speaker: I really enjoyed it.

Speaker: We're still making our way through those.

Speaker: I made applesauce with three different styles of apple.

Speaker: Wow.

Speaker: And it was so very, very good.

Speaker: Did Emily make a pie out of any of them?

Speaker: Not yet.

Speaker: That's the plan, though.

Speaker: We've got a ton of them, though.

Speaker: I've been just eating on that lunch.

Speaker: So, yeah, we got more apples.

Speaker: We don't know what to do with.

Speaker: The Shenandoah apples?

Speaker: Oh, the Shenandoah Reds.

Speaker: Folks, we ate an apple that was so good.

Speaker: We got to pause the podcast and tell you about Shenandoah Reds, the first sponsor of Pixel It.

Speaker: I'm just kidding.

Speaker: So Shenandoah Reds were like this apple.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Did the guy invent them at the farm?

Speaker: They're a brand new breed to the point where they don't even have a name.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: At this farm, they call them Shenandoah Reds.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: They just said it just sounds right.

Speaker: Apple product number 237915.

Speaker: Exactly.

Speaker: Exactly.

Speaker: They're just like, let's just play with it and let's just, you know, and that's just what they're calling it.

Speaker: It has a nice ring to it.

Speaker: And we were in the Shenandoah Valley area.

Speaker: So it makes sense on some level.

Speaker: Shenandoah.

Speaker: Shenandoah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So, I mean, there's nothing real.

Speaker: There's really nothing as much fun as like just kind of crossing through all these apples and been like, oh, I'm going to try this.

Speaker: And we're just eating them off the tree and pass them around.

Speaker: And it was it was dodging yellow jackets.

Speaker: Yes, that was definitely part of it.

Speaker: Yellow jackets.

Speaker: Oh, my gosh.

Speaker: So many in the farm, because you know what?

Speaker: You know what yellow jackets like?

Speaker: They like an apple.

Speaker: They like an apple, a big, crunchy apple.

Speaker: They live for it.

Speaker: And they were everywhere.

Speaker: They were everywhere.

Speaker: That was something we had to deal with.

Speaker: But yeah, that was a lot of fun.

Speaker: We played HeroQuest.

Speaker: We still, me and Kevin's family played HeroQuest, and we still have not beaten the first level.

Speaker: Have not beaten the first level.

Speaker: I blame myself this time around because I thought I was just wandering off to like kill a stray orc that ran away.

Speaker: And you weren't.

Speaker: Oh, I wasn't.

Speaker: And just like in a movie, it was it was it was basically like I turned the corner and oh, no, there are a bunch of people there.

Speaker: And and it did not go well for my dwarven ass.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You, you had your own, uh, uh, they fly now they fly now moment.

Speaker: And it's, uh, you got killed by, by orcs as they ran down the hallway.

Speaker: Big time.

Speaker: So yeah, that was, but that, but it's still always a lovely time.

Speaker: And frankly, uh,

Speaker: The world we live in today where games like this have an app for them that can like walk you through the game and like basically play DM.

Speaker: So no one has to play DM.

Speaker: I love that.

Speaker: That's really nice.

Speaker: And it had the best voice acting on it ever.

Speaker: Which is, here's the thing is like, I was Googling it while we were playing and I could not find confirmation on who the voice actor was.

Speaker: Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, that's a good question.

Speaker: And like, there's no, but you know, Google kind of sucks now, but yeah, I couldn't find it anywhere.

Speaker: It sounded like Mark Hamill.

Speaker: He did.

Speaker: And that's just it.

Speaker: We kept thinking it was him playing the Joker.

Speaker: So Mark Hamill, if you're listening and you did in fact voice the app for HeroQuest, hit us up.

Speaker: Hit us up.

Speaker: Hit us up for an interview.

Speaker: We'd love to have you.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Come on, Mark.

Speaker: I really like your work on Fall of the House of Usher.

Speaker: He was excellent in Fall of the House of Usher.

Speaker: He was amazing in Fall of the House of Usher.

Speaker: Excellent.

Speaker: He was my favorite part of that whole thing.

Speaker: And it was a pretty decent series.

Speaker: Yeah, I just love and spoilers for Fall of the House of Usher sort of not big spoilers, but it's his line towards the end where he's like.

Speaker: Yeah, you know, if it's all the same to you, I think I'm just going to play out my hand.

Speaker: And I was like, he is somehow the most respectable character in the entire goddamn show.

Speaker: Absolutely.

Speaker: And he's a fixer.

Speaker: He's a lawyer who also gets his hands dirty.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I wasn't convinced he wasn't the devil or something that we were going to find out that he was just like the, the bargainer there or something.

Speaker: He worked with the lady in there.

Speaker: It was, it was, it was, it was a, it's a, it's a really good series.

Speaker: It's really good series.

Speaker: Mark Hamill's best onscreen performance in 40 years.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: A while.

Speaker: That was, that was some good shit.

Speaker: I really enjoyed that.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So then the guy, after that, it's, it's, I never saw the guy.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Did I miss something?

Speaker: It's a, it's a, you should go.

Speaker: You should watch the guy.

Speaker: Ever.

Speaker: I'll say that.

Speaker: Is that, is that, um, that's why do I think that's a Japanese thing?

Speaker: It is.

Speaker: It is.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Ever.

Speaker: 1990.

Speaker: Oh yeah.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: I've seen this.

Speaker: That's Mark Hamill.

Speaker: No, Mark Hamill is not the lead.

Speaker: Okay, okay.

Speaker: They just cast Mark Hamill and they put his title, his name up at the top.

Speaker: Um...

Speaker: To make people think that Mark Hamill was the star and he is a supporting character who is in it through almost the entire movie, but he's not the main character.

Speaker: That's kind of a, yeah, that's just a thing to do with those.

Speaker: This is, this is wild.

Speaker: How have I never seen this before?

Speaker: We are three levels deep now on Jeffrey Combs.

Speaker: I forgot he was in it.

Speaker: Jeffrey Combs is 70 years old.

Speaker: This is wild.

Speaker: I need to watch this.

Speaker: It was the streaming.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: You need to watch the guy.

Speaker: That looks graphic and lovely.

Speaker: Uh huh.

Speaker: Oh, that is not streaming anywhere.

Speaker: No, it's not streaming anywhere, but both guys, uh, from, I think from, uh, what's it from, uh, the, um,

Speaker: Oh, what's the Jeffrey Combs movie?

Speaker: Reanimator.

Speaker: David Gale is also in The Giver along with Jeffrey Combs.

Speaker: So David Gale was the, his like the doctor, the older doctor who they, in the Reanimator, they cut off his head and they put him in the reanimating serum.

Speaker: Spoilers for the Reanimator?

Speaker: it's called the reanimator.

Speaker: You can't be that surprised by that.

Speaker: You can't be that surprised.

Speaker: It's a love, I mean, it's a Lovecraft story.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So, uh, anyway, where were we?

Speaker: What were you talking about?

Speaker: Oh, uh, nights in tight places.

Speaker: Night.

Speaker: Oh, nights in tight place.

Speaker: Nights in tight places.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I was basically saying before that if you've played the expansion for fights and tight places, they, they, they add fights and spaces, space, fits.

Speaker: Just remember it's, it's, it's fits.

Speaker: I'm looking for love in all the tight places.

Speaker: It's no, it's it's they add weapons at a certain point, like guns and knives and stuff like that.

Speaker: You guys are weapons are and it is fun, but I can't help.

Speaker: But for me personally, it was just like one more complication for an already bad.

Speaker: a game that already made me jumpy in the sense of like, Oh fuck, what do I do?

Speaker: And how do I, how do I strategize this and stuff like that?

Speaker: Some people are really going to go for that.

Speaker: But it just, it, it kind of, it just exhausted me.

Speaker: This is somewhere between.

Speaker: uh, original flavor, uh, uh, fights and tight spaces and, and weapon expansion, because you have multiple characters you're dealing with.

Speaker: You have, you have your, your character you pick, which could be like a brawler or rogue or whatever.

Speaker: It's like, think D and D and you can hire mercenaries of different classes to join you to help you fight.

Speaker: And, uh, and you're, but you're all drawing from the same deck and,

Speaker: So you've got to like, it really requires you to really think out how you want to build your deck.

Speaker: You know, it looks, it's, it's,

Speaker: It feels like it should be more complicated than it ends up being.

Speaker: But then again, that was just the demo that I played.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: But the demo is free on Steam.

Speaker: It took me about 20, 30 minutes to finish.

Speaker: Pretty entertaining, pretty good stuff.

Speaker: If you liked the original, this is definitely worth a roll of the dice.

Speaker: I had a lot of fun with it, at least with the demo.

Speaker: I don't know if I'm going to go as far as the full game.

Speaker: game, which I believe is releasing this year.

Speaker: But I did have a lot of fun with the demo.

Speaker: It's at least worth that much.

Speaker: So yeah, check that out.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: What about you, Kevin?

Speaker: What am I playing?

Speaker: Okay, well, strap on your feed bag.

Speaker: I have been playing Warhammer 40,000.

Speaker: Here we go.

Speaker: Space Marine 2.

Speaker: And as of earlier this evening, I rolled credits on it.

Speaker: Nice.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: So how did you find it?

Speaker: I really enjoyed it.

Speaker: I would say, okay, it.

Speaker: falls into the same category of game that you would put something like a a Vermintide or an aliens.

Speaker: Is it fire team elite or fire?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Fire squad or whatever it was.

Speaker: Whatever it was.

Speaker: The PVE where, you know, there's the online component where you're just you're playing playing with your best buds and you're shooting up some some some enemies.

Speaker: And in this case, the enemy is the Tyranids.

Speaker: Now, the single player, the main campaign is

Speaker: Fully single player.

Speaker: Like you're still on a squad of three space Marines, but the other two are bots.

Speaker: But you can have like a friend join in and can take control of one of the story characters, so to speak.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: So, yes, you are playing in Space Marine 2, you are playing as Titus, the protagonist from Space Marine 1.

Speaker: And when you start out, you're in the Death Watch.

Speaker: Oh, okay.

Speaker: Where he has been for the past 100 years.

Speaker: Yeah, they're old.

Speaker: They get old up there in Space Marine Town.

Speaker: As of this game, Titus is 200 years old, which, you know, Space Marines could last even longer than that if they don't die first.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: They're functionally immortal if they are not, in fact, murdered.

Speaker: If they are not, in fact, killed, they will just keep going.

Speaker: So you're playing as Titus and you are dealing with a Tyranid invasion on one of the planets.

Speaker: And in basically the prologue to the game is Titus.

Speaker: He dies and they rebuild him with the Primaris.

Speaker: They make him a Primaris Marine, sure.

Speaker: They make him a Primaris Marine using the Rubicon surgery.

Speaker: And so now Titus is bigger, stronger, faster than he has ever been before as a brand new Games Workshop figurine that you could buy.

Speaker: Absolutely.

Speaker: And thank God for that.

Speaker: For anyone who doesn't for anyone who isn't those playing the home home game Space Marines.

Speaker: I'm convinced and I think a lot of people feel the same way.

Speaker: The Space Marines, the figures that they're based on in the original war game as.

Speaker: technology increases with molds and what you can do with different plastics and materials.

Speaker: They were able to make Marines that were scale because the whole idea of the Marine is that it's like 10 feet tall and that sort of thing.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: It dwarfs humans.

Speaker: But with the as little as like seven or eight years ago, the space Marine minis were about the same height as like an Imperial Guardsman.

Speaker: So it didn't quite work.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: And so they introduced the primaris Marines, which for now are a special kind of Marine and they are built.

Speaker: The miniatures are built to scale.

Speaker: They're very impressive.

Speaker: They're very, very lovely.

Speaker: I think, um,

Speaker: But I believe in another edition, they'll just be space marines and they'll have phased out all of that.

Speaker: That's my theory anyway, because they just needed some sort of, you know, canon thing to get it up there.

Speaker: But go on.

Speaker: Basically, so if you're, yeah.

Speaker: And if you're wondering, Primaris is just the most, it's basically just the most recent phased.

Speaker: flavor of like, this is how they make space Marines now.

Speaker: Like back when Titus was first genetically seeded, you know, space Marines were still gods among men, but not quite as godly as the Primaris's are.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So I guess, I mean, I'm, that's the vibe I got.

Speaker: Yeah, they're just, it's just, yeah, it's just an improvement on the, on the gene seed.

Speaker: It's like this, it's this whole process and a lot, some Marines can't survive it and it's a whole thing.

Speaker: But yeah, okay.

Speaker: So he became a Primaris Marine, which is pretty excellent.

Speaker: Primaris through the Rubicon surgery because he was functionally dead anyway.

Speaker: So they figured, why not?

Speaker: Let's give it a shot.

Speaker: Let's give it a shot.

Speaker: And he survives.

Speaker: And it's basically, you get brought back into the ultramarines.

Speaker: You get to wear that ultramarine blue again.

Speaker: He's reinstated and he's knocked down.

Speaker: He's no longer a captain.

Speaker: He was a captain in the first game, I believe, right?

Speaker: He was captain.

Speaker: He's Lieutenant Titus now.

Speaker: Oof.

Speaker: Yeah, he gets knocked down a peg and he's reporting to Captain Acheron.

Speaker: And you basically the game is dealing.

Speaker: The first huge chunk of the game is dealing with the Tyranid invasion of Kadaku, which it's an interesting thing because it's kind of neat how I've been watching a few lore videos here and there.

Speaker: So the military force that is assisting you on Kadaku is the Cadian military.

Speaker: And I believe that is actually a recent story thing that happened in the Warhammer universe was the destruction of Kadia.

Speaker: So the infantry soldiers that are with you are the Cadian military.

Speaker: So it's like, so it's kind of neat because it's like, you have a lot of them talking about, like, you have the space Marines talking to the Cadian, uh, you know, guardsmen being like, you know, uh, fight for your, you know, the memory of your home world.

Speaker: And like, you have the, this Cadian major who's in the first part of the game.

Speaker: She's like, you know, tough as nails and like, uh,

Speaker: you know, talking a lot of shit about like our line will hold.

Speaker: And it's, it's, it's amazing.

Speaker: Cadians are fucking excellent.

Speaker: They are, they are, it is their, their lore is bad-ass.

Speaker: It's, it's, it's very cool.

Speaker: So it's the, it's like the Cadian eighth infantry is, is with you.

Speaker: That's awesome.

Speaker: Gameplay wise, you know, it's, you know, you're shooting and there's a lot of shooting, a lot of melee.

Speaker: It's like Gears of War, except there's no cover because you are a ultramarine.

Speaker: You are the cover.

Speaker: Your shelter for the Cadians.

Speaker: Your shelter for the Cadians.

Speaker: I always made it like a personal goal of mine.

Speaker: Every time there was a fight where you had the Cadian NPC dudes like backing you up to try to make sure as many of them survived by the end of it.

Speaker: Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Like a point of pride.

Speaker: Yeah, just a little point of pride.

Speaker: And usually if there was like 30, there would only be like five left after an encounter because, you know, the thing about Tyranids is as an ultramarine, as an ultramarine, the regular swarming Tyranids look kind of small, but...

Speaker: They are human sized.

Speaker: Oh yeah.

Speaker: They are basically, so imagine a xenomorph.

Speaker: So for those of you at home, imagine a xenomorph, but just beefier, just, just with a little bit more meat on the bone.

Speaker: Xenomorphs are skinny.

Speaker: The Tyranids are like xenomorphs that lift weights.

Speaker: Pretty much.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So, when somebody was, I was seeing somebody talk about on a stream, like, what do you, like, if you put space marines on, like, a planet infested with xenomorphs, how would they fare?

Speaker: And be like, I think pretty well, because Tyranids already, like, I think xenomorphs are just kind of like a weaker version of the Tyranid.

Speaker: Kind of.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Someone once told me, and I'm a Tyranid player, but I always like them because I thought of them as bugs.

Speaker: And a guy I was playing with years ago said, well, yeah, Tyranids, though, are like bugs crossed with dinosaurs.

Speaker: And I was like, oh, fuck, you're absolutely right.

Speaker: That's that's a pretty good.

Speaker: Yes, they do have very lizard ish.

Speaker: Very lizard-ish appearances.

Speaker: This is the thing I just finished 3D printing.

Speaker: Oh, very cute.

Speaker: This is Nami, her Jolly Roger from One Piece.

Speaker: I printed it out as a keychain for Camilla.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Anyway.

Speaker: Oh, that's cute.

Speaker: What did you say the planet's name was?

Speaker: Kodaku.

Speaker: That's almost like I feel like that must be a play on Klendathu, which is the homeworld of the bugs in Starship Troopers.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: That can't be a coincidence.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Kadaku is an Imperial jungle world that has been invaded by Tyranids.

Speaker: However, astro-militarum regiments of the Cadian shock troopers and space Marines from the ultramarine chapter have now come to its defense.

Speaker: So that was like, that's the, you know, space Marine too.

Speaker: And there's two other planets that you go through as you're, as you're playing the game.

Speaker: And there's a bit of a,

Speaker: I'll say it's a twist, sort of, in that halfway through the enemy changes.

Speaker: Sure, which is what they did in the first one.

Speaker: The Tyranids were just a red herring, if we're being honest.

Speaker: I think most people saw that coming, honestly.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah.

Speaker: It's like, why?

Speaker: Like, what?

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: The tyramids, you know, fearsome foe.

Speaker: Uh, but you know, you just got to cut the connection to the hive mind and, uh, they're, they're done.

Speaker: Uh, so what's, what, what do you do?

Speaker: And, and the, yeah, tyranids, AKA communism was just a red herring.

Speaker: Um,

Speaker: gonna watch that again uh and uh i really recommend it uh especially if you're a 40k person if you're just getting into 40k like i and i i think it's kind of interesting that in in the 40k world uh

Speaker: there is room for so much, so many different ways to engage with the material.

Speaker: Like I have zero intention of ever getting into the miniatures or the tabletop game, but with the, between the books and the video games, I feel like there's enough for me to kind of slowly ease my way into it.

Speaker: Oh, 100%.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And Space Marine two is, is a, is a really fun way to do it.

Speaker: This, so there's a bunch of missions, uh,

Speaker: There's a bunch of campaigns you play in the single player, so to speak, the single player campaign.

Speaker: And then there are these PVE missions that are more like your Vermintides or what have you, where you customize your own marine as like a detachment from the ultramarines that are...

Speaker: doing these PV missions that happen in parallel to the main story.

Speaker: Oh, that's fun.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: I like that.

Speaker: So every time there's like a main mission, he'll be like, Viridian or whatever the name of the other squad is, the other fire team, you guys are going to go do this.

Speaker: And...

Speaker: He says it and you go and you have you'll have Vox chatter between Titus and the leader over there, like just checking in on as to their progress.

Speaker: And then when you play the operations, you see the other side of it.

Speaker: You see what they were doing that the people that Titus is talking to what they're doing.

Speaker: That's a lot of fun.

Speaker: I like that.

Speaker: That's clever.

Speaker: So, yeah, that's a, and, you know, that is, there's going to be more of those missions over time that get created because on the roadmap, they're going to be working on more PVE missions and things like that.

Speaker: So, yeah, it's, it's.

Speaker: I recommend it.

Speaker: I saw like PC Gamer gave it a 60 out of 100.

Speaker: Wow.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Which is wild.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Everybody I know that is like really digs the Warhammer stuff and games like this have been pretty reasonably into it.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I haven't heard a lot of negative things about it.

Speaker: And frankly, my TikTok feed is just stuffed with

Speaker: people playing it and talking about playing it.

Speaker: And, uh, yeah, so.

Speaker: There's some really cool set pieces in it.

Speaker: Um, one person I saw said, it's like it gave them, they said, they said the game in no way is like doom from 2016, but it gave him the same feeling.

Speaker: of playing Doom in that cycle of using, like, you have to kill, like, you have to kill and keep moving in order to stay alive.

Speaker: Very cool.

Speaker: Because, like, doing special execution moves, melee execution moves, gives you back your shields, right?

Speaker: Right, right, yeah.

Speaker: You beat down a dude, and you'd hit the thing, and you'd take the chainsword, and you'd, like, cut him in half, and,

Speaker: you know, juggle the body parts for a little bit and then you punt one and then you use the other to smash another creature.

Speaker: It's great.

Speaker: It looks like a lot of fun.

Speaker: It is a lot of fun.

Speaker: I promised myself, I mentioned this to Kevin, I promised myself I wasn't going to buy it until I've completed the other AAA game I'm playing right now.

Speaker: So just to be, just to be.

Speaker: Just to be totally safe.

Speaker: Just to be totally safe and totally fair.

Speaker: Hundo.

Speaker: Keeping it at Hundo.

Speaker: Me and my family's bank account.

Speaker: Exactly.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I don't buy $60 games very frequently.

Speaker: That's just not the kind of gamer I am.

Speaker: You have been, especially this year, you have become the king of the demo.

Speaker: Oh, yeah.

Speaker: I love demos.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I love demos, but it's just, yeah.

Speaker: And thank God, by the way, because I have played several demos of games that if they had not had demos, I think I would have, this might not be a, this might not be a game developers thing that they want to hear when it comes to demos, but I might've bought the game straight out.

Speaker: And regretted it.

Speaker: And then regretted it.

Speaker: And the, and I know you can refund it and everything, but still.

Speaker: So yeah, that's been, that's going to be, I think that's going to be,

Speaker: a regular part of my life at this point.

Speaker: And it's just nice to be able to talk about, especially on our show, you know, talk about, talk about new things, fresh things that are, that are coming up.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: But yeah, that's, that's all I got to say about space Marine two.

Speaker: Sweet.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: What else are you playing?

Speaker: Well, speaking of that other game I mentioned, I am tearing ass through Visions of Mana right now.

Speaker: Tear that Mana ass.

Speaker: I'm really enjoying it.

Speaker: I have to recognize things about it as I am playing it.

Speaker: It is not...

Speaker: Here's the thing.

Speaker: I would argue that it's not an amazing game.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: It's, it's a pretty humdrum game.

Speaker: It's an action RPG.

Speaker: It has a kind of interesting plot line that I like, but I'm not paying too much attention to it.

Speaker: It's got,

Speaker: You know, exploration vibes, collect-a-thon vibes, weapons and, you know, all armor that you can try on and upgrade as you go along.

Speaker: And it's all pretty well-worn territory.

Speaker: But...

Speaker: It looks and feels in many ways like Secret of Mana, which was my favorite damn game when I was a kid.

Speaker: And so a lot of it just feels like, I mean, they've got a lot of the same enemies.

Speaker: It just it has a it has a nice nostalgic feel for me so that personally I'm enjoying it.

Speaker: I'm just having a lot of fun with it because of.

Speaker: all of that stuff.

Speaker: It also has some really, it's just, it's a beautiful game.

Speaker: It's a really colorful, bright game that does, that does that video game thing where you're like, okay, I'm on the winter, you know, level.

Speaker: And now I'm in the desert level and so on and so forth.

Speaker: It is, it is unabashedly a video game.

Speaker: It is so video game video game.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: It's very, it's a video game ass video game.

Speaker: That's exactly it.

Speaker: And, but it's fun.

Speaker: And I, what's funny about it to me is I, I looked it up cause it's about people.

Speaker: It's about a 30 hour game.

Speaker: And so I looked up how many chapters it has.

Speaker: And when I found out that when I realized it was dividing it by chapters and has nine chapters and and it was really funny because the chapters are not

Speaker: similarly length.

Speaker: So like the first chapter is kind of like your, your intro to the game thing doesn't take too long.

Speaker: And you're still going through a lot of the basics and getting comfortable and familiar.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And then the second chapter is similar to that.

Speaker: Similarly short chapter, maybe, you know, two hours, something like that.

Speaker: And then the third chapter is a cut scene.

Speaker: And I know that because I watched the cut scene and then I got an achievement that's a complete chapter three.

Speaker: And I went, oh, OK.

Speaker: And I and then chapter four, which I just beat today, is I think.

Speaker: give or take 800 hours long.

Speaker: It is so long.

Speaker: I have spent like 80% of the time of the game I've been playing in this chapter and I just finished it.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And I looked it up and apparently chapter four and chapter seven are like really long.

Speaker: Uh, and everything in between, it's just, so I'm probably gonna burn through five and six in like an afternoon.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Um, get to seven and a month later I'll finish that one.

Speaker: Uh, and then apparently eight and nine is like the final level and the final boss essentially.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Um, so I'm having fun with it.

Speaker: I think I wish.

Speaker: that in Secret of Mana, one of my favorite things about it was that you've got the weapons of all the different kinds and everyone can pass them around.

Speaker: Everyone can use the sword, the spear, the dart, everything.

Speaker: In this, it is based on...

Speaker: the class you have and not everyone can have the same classes.

Speaker: And so not everyone uses the same weapons.

Speaker: And in the, in the original, you're also upgrading that one weapon.

Speaker: So you start with a rusty sword slowly, you can upgrade it to a mana sword.

Speaker: And it's not like that.

Speaker: It's, it's like a lot of standard RPG fair.

Speaker: It's like, I'm in the new town.

Speaker: Let's see if they share a better spear.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: And that's what I mean when I say the little bit humdrum.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So it's, but, but I'm, I'm having a lot of fun playing it.

Speaker: It's very colorful.

Speaker: The storyline, I was not initially all that interested in, but the more I think about it and the more it goes on, it's actually a bleaker storyline than I gave it credit for.

Speaker: At first, at first it felt like, like bubblegum anime, you know, like kind of thing.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: But the story is, you know, the mandatory requires alms every year.

Speaker: And an arm is a representative from all the different villages and stuff.

Speaker: And they all have a different element to them, wood or fire or earth or whatever.

Speaker: And...

Speaker: And then they have a guard, a soul guard, who has to guide them to the mana tree where they will sacrifice themselves to the mana tree to keep the world afloat.

Speaker: And this is and the reason I didn't think much of this is because no one seems to give a rat's ass.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: No one seems to be too put off by this fact.

Speaker: Everyone's just like, oh, yeah.

Speaker: And it is seen as a great honor.

Speaker: You're going to sacrifice yourself for the mandatory.

Speaker: That is a great honor.

Speaker: That is an honor that is yours to have.

Speaker: And I would never take that away from you.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: And it's only about like a quarter of the way through the game.

Speaker: You start questioning it and people start asking questions about your involvement in it.

Speaker: And do you really want this?

Speaker: And for the first time, you're actually thinking about those things.

Speaker: And it's surprising.

Speaker: It surprised me.

Speaker: I don't know where they're going to go with it, if it's going to bear fruit.

Speaker: But I.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: It's it's the storyline was better than I gave it credit for initially.

Speaker: That's awesome.

Speaker: Yeah, it's it's a lot of fun.

Speaker: It's they said that when they developed this, they wanted to evoke that classic feeling of the old SNES game.

Speaker: And I'd say they fully succeeded because it's honestly one of the main reasons I continue to play the game.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: And it's not a terrible game.

Speaker: That's just I want to emphasize this is not a bad, bad game.

Speaker: It's just not great.

Speaker: You know, it's just not it's not

Speaker: it's pretty garden variety, but it can really hook you in just with its charm.

Speaker: And I suppose that's true of a lot of games.

Speaker: Then again, I'm the guy who made, you know, uh, aliens darkest dungeon.

Speaker: You, yeah, you did make, you did decide to, to say, Hey, this aliens game that is janky as hell.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: That's my favorite.

Speaker: That's my favorite one.

Speaker: That's my favorite one.

Speaker: So take that for, for what it's worth.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You do what you want to do.

Speaker: You know, that's that's always been me.

Speaker: That's really the that's really the thing here is you just go ahead and you do what you want to do.

Speaker: You say what you want to say.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Remember, kids, the real contrarian isn't the one who questions every little thing that makes humanity decent and good.

Speaker: They're the ones who make a janky ass indie game their number one game of the year.

Speaker: I'm the edgelord.

Speaker: You are the edgelord.

Speaker: Never forget it.

Speaker: Me.

Speaker: I can be your angle.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: but uh yeah so i'm enjoying it that's it's it's at this point it's probably gonna end up in my top 10 i'm having a lot of fun with it good um what else anything else from you okay so i don't think i talked about this on our last episode because we recorded our last episode two weeks ago um right that makes sense yeah yeah it's been a minute it's been a little minute uh i played and beat silent hill 2 um

Speaker: It's, uh, so I'd never played Silent Hill 2 before.

Speaker: It is like the, I was a Resident Evil guy.

Speaker: I'm going to say it like, I'm going to say it like that.

Speaker: I was a Resident Evil kid, you know, that was like, Silent Hill, that's blah.

Speaker: Um, and let me tell you, uh, there wasn't really a battle between the two when we were growing up, but it was just like, for some reason, I didn't care.

Speaker: You know, I was just like, whatever.

Speaker: Um,

Speaker: So Silent Hill 2, I played the enhanced edition, which you can get a bunch of mods basically for the... You can find the PC version of the game that is still floating out there on the internet somewhere.

Speaker: I think my Abandonware...

Speaker: has it basically the original Silent Hill 2 PC version.

Speaker: And then you get a bunch of mods.

Speaker: And Silent Hill.

Speaker: Let's go ahead and put that into my band.

Speaker: Here it is.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 are available on my abandoned wear.

Speaker: So, you know, it's worth it to go and grab the stuff for...

Speaker: the enhanced edition for Silent Hill 2.

Speaker: After playing it, I can see why it has as big of a following as it does.

Speaker: Because...

Speaker: It is very interesting in the way that it handles puzzles, which are almost entirely done through riddles, right?

Speaker: So you have to figure out, you have to kind of figure out a riddle in order to figure out what to do for a puzzle.

Speaker: And you can, and the way they did it is you can set the difficulty

Speaker: There's two different difficulty settings in Silent Hill 2.

Speaker: You can set the difficulty of the combat and then you can set the difficulty of the riddles.

Speaker: Oh, that's lovely.

Speaker: I like that a lot.

Speaker: On easy mode, the riddle is like Jack and Jill went up the hill.

Speaker: The answer is number two.

Speaker: Right, right.

Speaker: And then it's like it gets harder.

Speaker: And like some of them are these really long stories that you have to keep track of, like characters through the riddle to figure out why they're that's it's it's interesting.

Speaker: So Silent Hill 2 is a game where you play as James Sunderland.

Speaker: Is it Sunderland or Sutherland?

Speaker: I think it's James Sunderland.

Speaker: Sunderland.

Speaker: Yep.

Speaker: That was right the first time.

Speaker: He has gone to Silent Hill because he got a letter from his wife.

Speaker: who asked him to meet him there.

Speaker: But here's the thing.

Speaker: His wife has been dead for three years.

Speaker: So while he is there in Silent Hill, he finds all sorts of kooky characters who have also been called to the town to either...

Speaker: It's like some sort of atonement or some sort of dealing with a past issue or trauma or something like that.

Speaker: So the other characters, their names escape me because I've only played the game once.

Speaker: I think one of them is...

Speaker: uh, Angela, is it, is it Angela?

Speaker: Silent Hill.

Speaker: Uh, yeah, Angela, she, she's the first one that you meet.

Speaker: Um, and she's like the, uh, she's, you meet her in a, in a graveyard and she's there because she's looking for her mother.

Speaker: And you're there looking for your wife.

Speaker: And then eventually you meet a woman who looks suspiciously exactly like your wife.

Speaker: Except she's dressed more provocatively because she is wearing Christina Aguilera's outfit from, I believe there's a music video.

Speaker: It was literally just the Christina Aguilera.

Speaker: The dirty music video?

Speaker: Because that was a very good look for her.

Speaker: If I do say so myself.

Speaker: If I'm recalling correctly in my head.

Speaker: Christina Aguilera Silent Hill outfit.

Speaker: Okay, no, it was from a red carpet.

Speaker: Oh, well then.

Speaker: Yeah, but it's the exact same outfit.

Speaker: Literally the same outfit.

Speaker: That's hilarious.

Speaker: It was when it was, she was attending the first annual teen choice award awards when she, when they got the idea for Maria's outfit.

Speaker: Life was way simpler back then.

Speaker: Life was way simpler.

Speaker: So the game is a little bit,

Speaker: more, it seems on its surface when you're playing it, it offers more of an, it seems like it's more of an open experience and more open-ended experience, but it's not really because you're running through the town a lot,

Speaker: But it's mostly just like all locked doors that you can't go through.

Speaker: You're slowly opening up as you go along.

Speaker: Yeah, and you're kind of, and you only ever really go in the buildings that you're supposed to go into.

Speaker: So it's not like you're really getting off the beaten path.

Speaker: I know that there is...

Speaker: There's multiple endings for the game and the endings have to do with collecting certain things that are hidden throughout the world.

Speaker: I got one of the endings, which is called In the Water.

Speaker: I guess that means something to people that will mean something to people who have, you know, obsessed over Silent Hill 2.

Speaker: I believe him is working on and might is working on a video for Silent Hill 2.

Speaker: You're telling me Pym is a fan of Silent Hill 2?

Speaker: I don't believe it.

Speaker: I'm telling you that Pym has an interest in Silent Hill 2 and perhaps the entire franchise.

Speaker: That doesn't sound like the Pym I know.

Speaker: That doesn't track.

Speaker: I don't know about that, Kevin.

Speaker: They aren't that interested in horror video games, are they?

Speaker: God damn it.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So one of the things I think is hilarious about Silent Hill 2 is that for the bulk of it, your weapon is a board with a nail in it.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Which is a Simpsons bit.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: It's from a treehouse of horror where that came out, I think, two years before Silent Hill 2 might have come out.

Speaker: When did Silent Hill 2 come out?

Speaker: The original release date.

Speaker: Okay, 2001.

Speaker: Okay, so it would have been like five years before because it was the 1996 election season.

Speaker: And Kang and Kodos, is this it?

Speaker: Is that it?

Speaker: Is it the Kang and Kodos takeover?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And not Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Bob Dole's bodies.

Speaker: And they're just increasing their technology by creating bigger boards with nails in them.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: And it's like they have found our one weakness, a board with a nail in it because Flanders gets.

Speaker: Oh, no, no, no.

Speaker: It's the monkey paw ish episode where we're in Flanders.

Speaker: Kang and Kodos.

Speaker: appear in multiple tree house of horrors.

Speaker: Oh yeah.

Speaker: So it's easy to standard.

Speaker: They've got it.

Speaker: They've got to be in the, in fact, I think that's their only, do they appearance and have any appearance in the main series?

Speaker: I don't think so.

Speaker: They probably do at some point, like just something, but like a cutaway or something like that.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: But nothing more than that.

Speaker: Do we have any Simpsons scholars?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Someone tell us.

Speaker: Jesse Gratia.

Speaker: I think he knows a good deal about the Simpsons.

Speaker: I'll ask him.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Or, you know, he could just start talking to me about James Gandolfini.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: It's really fine.

Speaker: So.

Speaker: Let's do that.

Speaker: Silent Hill 2 is not a very long game unless you're going through and getting all the endings, which I am not.

Speaker: But I wanted to play through it.

Speaker: The original version and the original enhanced edition, which runs at a pristine 4K 60p.

Speaker: So you can see those chunky blocks, those 2001 PlayStation 2 chunky blocks in all their glory.

Speaker: So good.

Speaker: It's good.

Speaker: It's a good game.

Speaker: And so I'm interested in seeing how Bloober Team fucks it up.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Which they will.

Speaker: They will.

Speaker: Let's be real here.

Speaker: I just, I mean, immediately that Jerma clip of the baby from Layers of Fear.

Speaker: Have you ever seen that clip where he nearly dies laughing, watching the baby run into the cabin?

Speaker: No, I haven't seen that.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: That was that was a game that was a game that like everyone pretended was fucking terrifying for about a week.

Speaker: And I finally played it like a year or two ago and I was like, this is OK.

Speaker: And it was and I could tell when I was playing it that I was like, this isn't even that it's an older game and and things have gotten it just.

Speaker: people just screamed too hard into a webcam and it got a reputation as being terrifying.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So here, I'm just going to go ahead and, and, uh, share this.

Speaker: I'm going to come here.

Speaker: Hold on.

Speaker: Come on.

Speaker: It's going to take a bath.

Speaker: I know.

Speaker: I didn't like taking baths when I was a kid either.

Speaker: Doing it over.

Speaker: Oh my god.

Speaker: Alright, fine.

Speaker: Jesus Christ.

Speaker: But watch.

Speaker: But watch what happens.

Speaker: Just know that tomorrow morning before school, you're gonna be mad because you didn't take a bath.

Speaker: What?

Speaker: What?

Speaker: Why?

Speaker: So dumb.

Speaker: So dumb.

Speaker: And then he like- This is supposed to be a scary game.

Speaker: He like goes and starts messing with the- Is that gonna happen again?

Speaker: I swear to God if that happens again.

Speaker: Oh my God, hold on a second, hold on.

Speaker: Wait a second, wait a minute.

Speaker: Wait a minute.

Speaker: That's gonna happen again.

Speaker: The French champagne has always been celebrated.

Speaker: What a great subscription.

Speaker: No shit go by I want to do it again I think I'm gonna die on camera It's that triggering oh my god

Speaker: So it's literally, he steps over some sort of hit box and it sends the baby out.

Speaker: That's so stupid.

Speaker: Oh my God.

Speaker: It's like, it doesn't only do it once.

Speaker: It's like, you can trigger it over and over again.

Speaker: Later in the video, he keeps going over the line.

Speaker: He's got a train of babies going boom, boom, boom, boom.

Speaker: That is so dumb.

Speaker: This is lazy.

Speaker: I mean, Jesus Christ.

Speaker: I mean, it was a long time ago.

Speaker: I'm sure they know better.

Speaker: But yeah, Layers of Fear had a lot of buzz.

Speaker: It had that Markiplier scary game of the week buzz.

Speaker: And then this video comes out, this clip from one of Jerma's streams comes out.

Speaker: I liked aspects of that game in terms of its atmosphere and that kind of thing.

Speaker: That's always that's always been what I'm looking for with games like these.

Speaker: But it wasn't I was underwhelmed for one thing.

Speaker: And then obviously the more problematic mental health issues of it that comes to mind was like, just felt a little tasteless and honestly, not that interesting.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You know, like, like throw out the, you know, if you throw out the window, the idea of like taste and good sense with these things, it just wasn't all that interesting.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Of a plot point.

Speaker: And it rarely is.

Speaker: That's the thing with, with, you know, people being like, oh, well, we can't edge edge Lords.

Speaker: You know, we can't, we can't talk about this.

Speaker: You can't, oh, we've got a mentally ill character.

Speaker: It's like, well, it's just kind of boring.

Speaker: It's just well-worn territory at this point.

Speaker: And it's not really all that interesting.

Speaker: Yeah, I think it's like the, oh, they're crazy.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I think that's, it's, it's, it's lame to treat mental illness that way.

Speaker: Period.

Speaker: I mean, it's lame to just use it.

Speaker: It's like, it's, it's not good writing.

Speaker: Like the, you know, succumbing to madness is one thing, but the just being like, oh, you know, he saw things or whatever.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: It just doesn't.

Speaker: Trying to assign it an actual, like, yeah, like that Lovecraftian madness.

Speaker: My brains are smeared.

Speaker: That's,

Speaker: That's one thing like that's that's one thing.

Speaker: But, you know, it's it's what it doesn't have a name, really.

Speaker: Just generic bargain bin madness.

Speaker: Give that to me.

Speaker: I saw something that you shouldn't have seen.

Speaker: And exactly.

Speaker: Now, you know, you know, truth.

Speaker: You should know you.

Speaker: I mean, I don't I don't like knowing truths.

Speaker: I should know.

Speaker: Absolutely not.

Speaker: We're too old for that bullshit.

Speaker: We're too old for that.

Speaker: The brain is not flexible enough.

Speaker: No, not even close.

Speaker: So, yeah.

Speaker: So when you're actually trying to ascribe at something that people suffer from, uh, yeah, I don't, I just don't find it fun.

Speaker: Like, yeah, like I'm writing a horror game based on a schizophrenic character.

Speaker: Like, please don't, don't do that.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Don't, don't, don't do that.

Speaker: You don't have to do that.

Speaker: It's not,

Speaker: Just go with the generic madness.

Speaker: That's fine.

Speaker: I'm good with that.

Speaker: Maybe some people will come to me and say that's also a problem.

Speaker: Unless you're actually handling it well, which I would say probably like Senua, Hellblade Senua's sacrifice.

Speaker: Yes, I was just going to first.

Speaker: Yeah, Senua's sacrifice.

Speaker: Does a really good job and a really careful job like...

Speaker: demonstrating what her, I believe it's schizophrenia, like manifests as.

Speaker: Some sort of psychosis.

Speaker: Yeah, where it's like she just is always hearing, it's almost like she's just always hearing an internal monologue that just never shuts up.

Speaker: She has no control over that internal monologue.

Speaker: And it's like a chorus of her telling her things and not all the same thing.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And they went into it specifically saying, we want to talk about this.

Speaker: We want to address this.

Speaker: And so it wasn't treated like an afterthought, which is kind of what it feels like when people like Bloober Team do this shit.

Speaker: It just doesn't work for me.

Speaker: From people I do know and respect, they have been following the Silent Hill 2 remake production.

Speaker: And they say they feel like it is...

Speaker: So far that Bloober team has gotten it right from what they can see in terms of the trailers and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker: But obviously we don't know until the game is actually out.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I will say, if I'm going to say the original Silent Hill 2, it's a 2001 Konami game, so it is laughably bad in terms of voice acting.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Just...

Speaker: Just very, very bad voice acting.

Speaker: Very not good.

Speaker: Which is also could be part of the charm, but don't, it's one of those, you put the wrong emphasis on the wrong syllable type of moments in some of these sentences.

Speaker: Which I believe in one of my old Arcadology videos, I mentioned that the reason that a lot of these games sounded like that is because you would have in, you'd have like a Japanese sound engineer and director bringing in an English voice actor and they would just have a sheet.

Speaker: like a little spreadsheet basically of the lines they wanted them to read.

Speaker: And it would be without the context of

Speaker: anything.

Speaker: So they would just read these lines and not really necessarily have the right direction or what have you.

Speaker: I know that was in the first Resident Evil where sometimes the engineer apparently would just like splice two different takes together because it sounded right to his ear or it sounded cool to his ear.

Speaker: Infamous for that.

Speaker: So it would like start going down and then suddenly ricochet back upwards in terms of tone.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Not to mention, they probably weren't hiring the best of the best.

Speaker: No, because it was a brand new franchise.

Speaker: They didn't know if it was going to go well or not.

Speaker: So, yeah, that's like something to consider.

Speaker: So I'm interested in seeing how they are able to take that.

Speaker: And I want to emphasize, we don't want it to fail.

Speaker: Like we're not interested.

Speaker: You don't want it to fail.

Speaker: You don't want it to fail.

Speaker: Here, I'll say this.

Speaker: It's a controversial take.

Speaker: I want more good games and less bad games.

Speaker: Madness.

Speaker: Madness.

Speaker: Speaking of madness.

Speaker: Speaking of madness, I really just committed myself to some madness right there.

Speaker: There you go.

Speaker: Right there.

Speaker: from the deep cosmos.

Speaker: You know what?

Speaker: It's not the color out of space.

Speaker: It is the take out of space.

Speaker: The take out of space.

Speaker: People are looking at it saying to themselves, I've never seen a take like that before.

Speaker: I've never seen a take like that before.

Speaker: I've lost it.

Speaker: And I'm Nicolas Cage and I'm going to watch my daughter and wife fuse together into one.

Speaker: This is going to get needlessly graphic.

Speaker: This is going to get very graphic.

Speaker: Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Go watch Color Out of Space if you're hankering for some.

Speaker: That was a lot of lead up to like a lot of build up to some gruesome body horror.

Speaker: I have to give him that.

Speaker: Holy shit.

Speaker: The color out of space is not a color you actually want to see.

Speaker: No, as it turns out.

Speaker: I was surprised.

Speaker: As it turns out.

Speaker: But it is always kind of purplish.

Speaker: It have you not?

Speaker: I've noticed that, too.

Speaker: It's always that or some kind of pink.

Speaker: It's bisexual lighting.

Speaker: It's very bisexual.

Speaker: That's the color.

Speaker: That's the real color out of space.

Speaker: The real color out of space is Kurt Russell and the thing inventing bisexual lighting.

Speaker: Exactly.

Speaker: When he's holding a holding a lit flare.

Speaker: Anyway, yes.

Speaker: So that's Silent Hill 2, and that's all my fresh hot takes on that.

Speaker: Phil, you got anything else that you've been playing recently?

Speaker: No, that's mostly it.

Speaker: I did want to comment on, I just downloaded the...

Speaker: demo for Disney Epic Mickey re rebrushed.

Speaker: Oh, okay.

Speaker: And I just, I love, I love living in this world where they're doing so many remasters of games that I just never got to play in the first place.

Speaker: It's just, this looks like a little bit of fun.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I don't, I roll my eyes a little at calling it Epic Mickey.

Speaker: That's kind of silly, but yeah,

Speaker: But I don't know.

Speaker: This looks like it could be a good time.

Speaker: I thought the same when I first came out.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You know who the director of that was?

Speaker: Who was that?

Speaker: Warren Spector.

Speaker: No shit.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So Warren Spector, for those who do not know, is the creator of Deus Ex.

Speaker: That is wild.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And, you know, he's pretty well known in the both tabletop and video game industry.

Speaker: Um, he, you know, he worked on Ultima games.

Speaker: He worked on Wing Commander.

Speaker: Uh, he worked on the Thief games.

Speaker: Um, and, and yeah, he, the, one of the, let's see, I think Epic Mickey.

Speaker: Yeah, we're, we're,

Speaker: two of the games that he made recently.

Speaker: Oh, I forgot to mention System Shock.

Speaker: Oh, shit.

Speaker: Well, yeah, there you go.

Speaker: System Shock, which is pretty much, you know, it's System Shock.

Speaker: You ever heard of it?

Speaker: You ever heard of it?

Speaker: No.

Speaker: What's System Shock?

Speaker: No, System Shock.

Speaker: But really, System Shock.

Speaker: Maybe if I say it again,

Speaker: Warren Spector will appear in my office.

Speaker: He'll be in your mirror while you're brushing your teeth and he'll system shock.

Speaker: Kill you.

Speaker: Yeah, there you go.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Warren Spector's like, ah, I'm like 70.

Speaker: Why are you summoning me?

Speaker: What do you want?

Speaker: What do you want?

Speaker: I'm done.

Speaker: Not doing anymore.

Speaker: Stop it.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So that was the extended what are you playing jam sesh.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I want to throw out to our friends before we go any further because I didn't do it earlier.

Speaker: Patreon.com slash PixelitPod.

Speaker: Please go to Patreon.com slash PixelitPod.

Speaker: Follow us there.

Speaker: And, you know, you can throw us a little bit of money.

Speaker: To that end, I want to thank the people who throw us the top tier of money.

Speaker: We got Friendly Friend.

Speaker: We got Middle of Things.

Speaker: We got Ruthless Mutter.

Speaker: Kyle Seaman and Jesus Loves You.

Speaker: So thank you so much for being our geek scholars and supporting the podcast.

Speaker: Absolutely.

Speaker: We love you for it.

Speaker: We love you for it.

Speaker: So Phil, you said you had a list of games that were coming out for the rest of the year.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I thought it would be fun if we talked a little bit.

Speaker: Cause I was, I was telling Kevin that, um,

Speaker: at this point in the year, you know, we're, we're 75% done with a year.

Speaker: And after, uh, space Marine two, uh, after I play that, I feel like there aren't a lot of games that are coming out after that, uh, that I'm like right now, currently champing at the bit to play.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Uh, of course you, you listed a couple for me, uh, while we were chatting that, that,

Speaker: puts the kibosh on that.

Speaker: But the point is, is that is I feel like after Space Marine two, which will be my next game after I finished vision of Visages of Mana, it'll give it'll afford me the opportunity to go back and play some other games that have been recommended to me, like Lorelei and the laser eyes and stuff like that.

Speaker: but I thought it might be fun to look at GameSpot's list of the upcoming game release schedule for 2024 for here on out.

Speaker: We could just take a look at this list.

Speaker: We're not going to obviously not going to go through the whole goddamn thing, but see if there's anything in here.

Speaker: Oh, can you reset it to me?

Speaker: It was in the other.

Speaker: Oh, it sure was.

Speaker: Let me say the other recruiting booth.

Speaker: Let me send it to you again.

Speaker: There it is.

Speaker: Game spit.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Where are we?

Speaker: We're in September, right?

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Uh, it is September as we speak.

Speaker: Yeah, exactly.

Speaker: Now the first thing I'm seeing on this, um,

Speaker: I don't know if this counts as a game I'm like champing at the bit to play, but apartment story.

Speaker: Isn't that that like really indie, super, super duper indie game where you come into an apartment?

Speaker: Is that the game where like you're sitting there watching an argument take place or am I thinking of something else?

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Apart...

Speaker: Apartment story.

Speaker: Yes, except the cookies.

Speaker: Jesus Christ.

Speaker: Apartment story.

Speaker: Have I ever said no?

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I don't think I've actually heard of that one.

Speaker: This might be it.

Speaker: No, this might not be it.

Speaker: It's a third person thriller set in an apartment.

Speaker: Oh, three people and a gun in a single apartment.

Speaker: Navigate escalating real time narrative events.

Speaker: Interesting.

Speaker: I have a little showdown.

Speaker: I mean, that does sound interesting.

Speaker: That does sound interesting.

Speaker: I don't think it was the thing that you were thinking of.

Speaker: PS2 vibe to it.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: No, it's not what I was thinking of.

Speaker: But that is interesting.

Speaker: OK, what else we got?

Speaker: What else?

Speaker: Well, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is, I believe, out as of today, the day we're recording this, slash the day that the episode was supposed to come out.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: But yeah, it just dropped today.

Speaker: So, you know, you can go ahead and you can play, what's his name, Frank, and I've seen wars, you know.

Speaker: You can talk to him.

Speaker: But other things that are coming out, we already talked about Epic Mickey Rebrushed.

Speaker: Let's see.

Speaker: I don't recognize anything else necessarily on this list.

Speaker: There's a spot for Shadows of Doubt.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Is that supposed to be like a 1.0 release?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, it's the 1.0 full release.

Speaker: Okay, the full actual release of Shadows of Doubt.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Which, hey, puts it in the running for game of the year then.

Speaker: Yep.

Speaker: And you've played a lot of that, haven't you?

Speaker: I've played a decent amount of Shadows of Doubt.

Speaker: It's a funky little procedural detective game, basically, where you play a private eye in a procedural little city and you just take on cases and try to investigate them and all that fun stuff.

Speaker: So, Oh, a legend of Zelda echoes of wisdom is coming out the end of this month.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Which I, it looks cute.

Speaker: It looks cute.

Speaker: I don't know if I'm going to scramble for it, but I like the idea of finally getting to play a Zelda in a kind of a,

Speaker: Link's awakening.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Storyline.

Speaker: I think that's, I mean, that's one of my favorite Zelda's period.

Speaker: So it should be interesting to see what they do with it.

Speaker: One game that just came out that I is on my list is UFO 50.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Talk more about that one.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: So UFO 50 is it's, it's Derek.

Speaker: You spearheaded a project and,

Speaker: in which he got a bunch of developers together to create a game filled with games that is inspired by the multi-carts of, of yore.

Speaker: Um, UFO 50 is, it's, it's 50 games that are inspired by the 1980s, uh, era of video games, 50 full games.

Speaker: It's like having 50 Nintendo games, you know, and 50 fresh Nintendo games that you've never played.

Speaker: And it's not a WarioWare thing.

Speaker: These are full games.

Speaker: These are beginning, middle, end games.

Speaker: I can't speak for the length of all of them, but they all have conclusions.

Speaker: So...

Speaker: It was spearheaded by Derek Yu, who is the guy who did Spelunky, which is one of the probably best.

Speaker: I would say Spelunky is probably up there with one of the best roguelikes of all time.

Speaker: It's really well regarded by a lot of people.

Speaker: Now, if you are a roguelike fan.

Speaker: and you have opinions on what counts as a roguelike or a roguelite, I kindly ask you to not talk to me about it because I don't care.

Speaker: Yeah, I don't care.

Speaker: I don't care.

Speaker: I know they're different.

Speaker: Shut up.

Speaker: I know they're different.

Speaker: And I know even within the roguelike community, there's arguments about what is or isn't a roguelike based on a set of criteria.

Speaker: There's something called the Berlin interpretation or something like that.

Speaker: When you've gotten that academic, I'm tapping out.

Speaker: I am leaving.

Speaker: If you're naming a German or Austrian city in your philosophical argument about anything, I'm out.

Speaker: I'm out.

Speaker: I'm out.

Speaker: I'm done.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I just don't, I just don't have the, I don't have the bandwidth for that.

Speaker: I just don't.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So.

Speaker: And I never will.

Speaker: It was created at the International Roguelike Development Conference in 2008.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So anyway, what was I saying?

Speaker: UFO 50 looks really special.

Speaker: It looks really neat.

Speaker: I can't wait to play it.

Speaker: 50 games.

Speaker: It's 25 bucks on Steam.

Speaker: There's a few bucks off.

Speaker: 50 cents a game, people.

Speaker: It's 50 cents a game, people.

Speaker: People, please.

Speaker: It's 50 cents a game.

Speaker: Tremendous.

Speaker: It's a tremendous game.

Speaker: Tremendously filled with games.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Cats and dogs.

Speaker: They're eating them.

Speaker: Oh, we live in a hellscape.

Speaker: God, he's a fucking monster.

Speaker: It's getting really bad.

Speaker: It's getting real bad.

Speaker: But UFO 50, that should be it.

Speaker: It's missing from this list.

Speaker: And I think that that's a shame.

Speaker: Well, it's a game spot list, which almost, it kind of like lends credit to it, actually.

Speaker: It gives it more street cred.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So aside from that, in October, moving on to October, we got the remake of Until Dawn.

Speaker: Mm-hmm.

Speaker: And the remake of Silent Hill 2.

Speaker: And the remake of Silent Hill 2.

Speaker: So if you wanted to see Rami Malek rendered in even higher fidelity...

Speaker: you can go ahead and get the until dawn remake.

Speaker: That game fucking rules.

Speaker: It's still rules.

Speaker: It holds up so beautifully.

Speaker: I'm, I'm amazed that they're doing a remake of it, a retread of any, because it's still holds up.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I don't know if it's, I don't know if it's necessary.

Speaker: I don't care.

Speaker: I think it's great that they're doing it.

Speaker: But yeah, that's, that's a, that game fucking rules.

Speaker: Who is the developer for Until Dawn?

Speaker: Oh, what are they called?

Speaker: Supermassive.

Speaker: There we go.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Supermassive Games.

Speaker: I personally like The Quarry more than Until Dawn.

Speaker: The Quarry was their most recent Until Dawn-like.

Speaker: That's the Boca Raton interpretation of 2024 of that genre.

Speaker: I like it.

Speaker: The until Dawn likes.

Speaker: But yeah, no, I'm, I'm, I think that'll be interesting.

Speaker: I don't know if I'm going to get it, but you know, a new generation of people get to get to play it and they get to save the cheerleader and save the world in it.

Speaker: That's a reference to it or don't through your decisions.

Speaker: That's a reference to the TV show heroes in which what's her name?

Speaker: Hayden Pantierre.

Speaker: Yeah, she's in Until Dawn.

Speaker: She's not a cheerleader necessarily.

Speaker: Oh, that's right.

Speaker: That is her.

Speaker: Holy shit.

Speaker: She's one of the main characters.

Speaker: Yep.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker: Dang.

Speaker: Dang.

Speaker: What else we got?

Speaker: There's a Starship Troopers game coming out.

Speaker: Another.

Speaker: They have made.

Speaker: They keep making Starship Troopers games.

Speaker: Which one is this one?

Speaker: Is this the same one that was out earlier and just, oh, it was first released in May 17th, 2023.

Speaker: I think this might be just a... This is a multiplayer thing.

Speaker: A fresh version of it.

Speaker: I'm not sure.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker: It's always tough to tell with these lists.

Speaker: Yeah, you have to go into it.

Speaker: Diablo 4's expansion, Vessel of Hatred's coming out.

Speaker: I really haven't played that one.

Speaker: I just don't be bothered.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I'm out on Diablo for the most part.

Speaker: And I've been out on Diablo since Diablo.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I think it was three.

Speaker: I played a lot of three and don't, and would, I played a lot of three at two or three separate points in my life.

Speaker: I remember watching the entirety of The Sopranos while playing through like a barbarian run on three.

Speaker: And every time I finished it,

Speaker: I look at it and go, why, why did I, why did I do that there?

Speaker: It does have some good set pieces.

Speaker: There's something to it, but I just don't, I don't, I don't think.

Speaker: Why I play that.

Speaker: Why I do that.

Speaker: Uh,

Speaker: Worshipers of Cthulhu, which we talked about, is coming out on October 21st officially.

Speaker: Oh, okay.

Speaker: Is that – wait, that's the demo we both played?

Speaker: Yeah, we both played that demo.

Speaker: It's a – yeah, the city builder.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I didn't think it was that far along that –

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: After playing the demo.

Speaker: Like the demo's got some good stuff, but I didn't think it was that it was at that spot.

Speaker: But I think you were didn't think you were that ready.

Speaker: I didn't think you were that ready, but more power to you, I guess.

Speaker: Back in September, I forgot to mention that the DLC for Rogue Trader is coming out.

Speaker: It's coming out next week.

Speaker: And it adds 15 hours to the game and another romanceable character.

Speaker: Fucking Jesus Christ.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So if you want to play, Rogue Trader really slotted in nicely after Baldur's Gate 3.

Speaker: Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: as more of a, it's like more throwback-y to older CRPGs, but still slotted in nicely because there was plenty of characters to romance.

Speaker: Yeah, no, it held its own, you know, after Baldur's Gate, nothing was going to be quite as grandiose as Baldur's Gate 3, but it really held its own.

Speaker: I was pretty impressed with how much it held up.

Speaker: So if you're a 40k sicko, that's coming out next week.

Speaker: We know you are.

Speaker: We know you are.

Speaker: We know you are.

Speaker: So I don't see anything really else in October, though.

Speaker: Dragon Age to Veilguard, I think some people are excited about.

Speaker: I've never played a Dragon Age game, so I can't speak to it.

Speaker: Yeah, Call of Duty, another Call of Duty stuff.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Real quick, real quick.

Speaker: Clock Tower Rewind is coming out in October.

Speaker: Oh, what is that actually?

Speaker: Is that a remake of Clock Tower?

Speaker: Exactly.

Speaker: A remake of the 16 bit one.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: So the side scrolling one.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Got it.

Speaker: So that would be interesting.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Oh, the art style looks neat.

Speaker: Yeah, they took a chance with it.

Speaker: They made it into something.

Speaker: They played with it a little bit instead of just doing an updated version of the old style.

Speaker: Yeah, this looks like it'd be fun.

Speaker: And I never got to play the original.

Speaker: So as I said before, what a time to be alive.

Speaker: What a time to be alive.

Speaker: So yeah, so that was that was one more in October.

Speaker: Yeah, in October.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: One game I also want to reference, I don't think I brought it up yet, was Hollow Body.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: So if you're looking forward to Silent Hill 2 Remake but don't want to pay Silent Hill 2 Remake prices, go ahead and check out Hollow Body, which is...

Speaker: Basically, if you took Silent Hill and jammed it together with Blade Runner, you're going to get Hollow Body.

Speaker: It's a neat looking little game.

Speaker: It's probably going to be it's like the same length as the original Silent Hill.

Speaker: It's like six, seven hours.

Speaker: So, so go ahead and check it out.

Speaker: I feel like, do you remember that game we played?

Speaker: I think we both played it where you are in the old hospital.

Speaker: It's a resident evil style game.

Speaker: Oh, oh fuck.

Speaker: Condemned lost something.

Speaker: Tormented souls.

Speaker: Tormented souls.

Speaker: What?

Speaker: I was completely off.

Speaker: Samsonite.

Speaker: Samsonite.

Speaker: I was way off.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So there is a Tormented Souls 2 coming out.

Speaker: I'm looking up the release date.

Speaker: I thought it was going to be...

Speaker: Okay, it is, it just says set to be released in 2024.

Speaker: Just coming soon.

Speaker: But yeah, it's a continuation of the first one.

Speaker: Caroline Walker is back and she still only has one eye.

Speaker: Ha ha ha!

Speaker: She's going to get nude for no reason.

Speaker: She's going to get naked for no reason and be missing an eye.

Speaker: Actually, that is literally the opening moments of the game.

Speaker: That is the moment.

Speaker: She's in the, it's the, you know, when the urban legend of waking up in a bathtub full of ice and your kidneys are removed, except she wakes up in a bathtub full of ice and her right eye has been removed.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: But yeah, I recommend, I mean, Tormented Souls, it's a nice indie little Resident Evil style game.

Speaker: It had its fair share jank, but it was charming at times.

Speaker: It was charming.

Speaker: So that's, I don't see it listed anywhere, but that's because it's still a TBD.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: It actually might be on this list, just not, because it's not a,

Speaker: Yeah, Tormented Souls 2.

Speaker: It's on the to be announced.

Speaker: So is the thing remastered.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Is to be announced a date for that.

Speaker: And the thing remastered is being done by the company that does all the remasters, right?

Speaker: They did the Night Dive.

Speaker: They did the remake for... Night Dive.

Speaker: Night Dive also did the remake for...

Speaker: System Shock.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Yeah, they're still my favorite logo for a game company.

Speaker: Very cool.

Speaker: They got it.

Speaker: Yeah, they got a great logo.

Speaker: I wish they would.

Speaker: I'm just curious to see if they have anything in the chamber for like that's like an original because they do really good work.

Speaker: Like in terms of like skill, they're very skilled in remastering and recapturing old titles, you know?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You know, they did the remake of System Shock.

Speaker: They've remastered things like I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Shadow Man, Blood, Quake.

Speaker: They were involved in the remastering of Quake.

Speaker: They were involved in the Doom and Doom 2 re-release that just came out this year.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: The Thing Remastered, Power Slave, all these games.

Speaker: And I think they were the ones that brought Doom 64 to the PC.

Speaker: And they liberated it from a Nintendo 64 cartridge and brought it to the PC.

Speaker: I mean, there's definitely a market for a game game developer studio that literally just does, you know, resurrects old games.

Speaker: This day in Ace.

Speaker: Absolutely.

Speaker: Absolutely.

Speaker: That is a big that's a good gimmick to have.

Speaker: That's yeah, that's if you can.

Speaker: Yeah, that's that's.

Speaker: that's fine.

Speaker: I, I don't, I don't know if I need to know what they do can do originally personally.

Speaker: Uh, if they can keep, yeah, that's, yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker: Uh, in November, we got Anton blast.

Speaker: If you are interested in the Wario land style, the Wario likes as, uh, our friend hot cider would put it, uh,

Speaker: He's been looking forward to Anton Blast for a while now.

Speaker: If you played or heard or watched anyone play Pizza Tower, you're in the right headspace.

Speaker: Anton Blast is in the same genre.

Speaker: It's a platformer where you're running through the level and then you got to run backwards through the level to get out.

Speaker: So Anton Blast will be coming out in November.

Speaker: So that's something to look forward to.

Speaker: I think it might be on my list of things to get.

Speaker: Also coming out in November is a game title that still sounds like an ethnic slur to me.

Speaker: Can you guess which one I'm looking at?

Speaker: Are you talking about Slitterhead?

Speaker: Slitterhead.

Speaker: Doesn't it sound like a slur?

Speaker: Am I wrong in thinking that that sounds like a... No.

Speaker: That's kind of a bummer of a thing to call your game.

Speaker: Slitterhead.

Speaker: I mean, I know people are looking forward to it.

Speaker: It looks completely bonkers.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: No, that's the thing is it's bananas.

Speaker: But I don't know.

Speaker: I don't know necessarily.

Speaker: What?

Speaker: I guess.

Speaker: What if it's an awesome game and you have to like, what was your game of the year?

Speaker: Slitterhead.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I don't know if anyone feels good about that.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Anyway, here's something that's interesting coming up in December.

Speaker: Monument Valley three, which it's not.

Speaker: I mean, Monument Valley kind of a classic puzzle.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: But what's interesting is that Netflix is where it's going to be released.

Speaker: Oh, OK.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Which they've been doing.

Speaker: They've been dipping their toe here and there.

Speaker: They got a trivia game.

Speaker: There was the Bandersnatch episode of Black Mirror.

Speaker: They also have on your.

Speaker: So if you.

Speaker: So basically, if you have Netflix games on your phone, one of the games that they've released last year was it was pretty fun platformer called Point P.

Speaker: Uh, did you ever, yeah.

Speaker: No, no.

Speaker: It was a very cute platformer.

Speaker: It was last year or two years ago.

Speaker: Um, but yeah, Netflix has, it's basically, as long as you're a Netflix customer, you should be able to get these games.

Speaker: Um, so.

Speaker: Some of their stuff is like, it's interesting because it's, you know, they're experimenting with it.

Speaker: So, yeah.

Speaker: That's pretty cool.

Speaker: That's pretty cool.

Speaker: And I never played the second Monument Valley.

Speaker: I played the first one, though, years ago.

Speaker: Probably the first one.

Speaker: Never played the second one either.

Speaker: That was one of the first games that I played on my iPhone that really made me think, oh, it could be something to this, you know?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: There's more you can do with a phone game than just your usual gotcha fare and everything like that.

Speaker: Exactly.

Speaker: Which is nice.

Speaker: It's nice to hear.

Speaker: It's nice.

Speaker: Anything else?

Speaker: Well, I'm looking forward to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Speaker: It's being developed by Machine Games.

Speaker: Machine Games are responsible for the most recent efforts in the Wolfenstein franchise, which I really enjoyed.

Speaker: I like the most those Wolfenstein games.

Speaker: So I think that could be a good one.

Speaker: Other than that, I'm just doing a quick scroll through the undated games to see if we're missing anything, anything obvious.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Epic Mickey re brushed very clean, very cute.

Speaker: I like, I like the name go home, Annie.

Speaker: That's pretty funny.

Speaker: There, apparently there's a, a sweet code in a one and two HD remaster coming out.

Speaker: Oh, that's cool.

Speaker: Interesting.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yeah, it's just bringing it to, like, modern consoles.

Speaker: Those games are two of my favorite games of all time, so... Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, I'd probably be able to... It's well-documented.

Speaker: Well-known, sir.

Speaker: Well-known.

Speaker: Tormented Souls 2, we already talked about it.

Speaker: Talked about that.

Speaker: Vampire of the Masquerade Bloodlines 2.

Speaker: I don't think this is coming out this year.

Speaker: I believe we're, we're looking at next year.

Speaker: I'm nervous about it.

Speaker: Yeah, exactly.

Speaker: It keeps changing hands and taking longer.

Speaker: Now I am one of those people who's like, we'll take your time, make the right game.

Speaker: But I, if anyone who feels a little off put by, I,

Speaker: all of the turbulence in the release of this has my sympathy and understanding.

Speaker: Who is currently working on it?

Speaker: Is it Chinese Room?

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Last time I checked it was.

Speaker: Let me see.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: It's Chinese Room.

Speaker: I think another company had started.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Hardsuit Labs

Speaker: Okay, yeah.

Speaker: Paradox took it from Hardsuit Labs and handed it over to the Chinese room.

Speaker: I like the Chinese room.

Speaker: Chinese room's excellent.

Speaker: They're excellent.

Speaker: They've done a number of great games.

Speaker: Most of them are walking simulators, but you have Amnesia, Machine for Pigs.

Speaker: They have the bonafides, though, I think, in terms of

Speaker: telling a good story through gameplay.

Speaker: Still Wakes the Deep, which was, I think that was a really good game.

Speaker: Did that come out this year?

Speaker: Was that this year?

Speaker: Yeah, I don't think I...

Speaker: Still Wakes the Deep.

Speaker: Okay, yeah.

Speaker: I'm add to Game of the Year list 2024.

Speaker: There we go.

Speaker: I was about to say.

Speaker: Yeah, Still Wakes the Deep.

Speaker: I really like Still Wakes the Deep.

Speaker: The more I sit on it, the more I kind of like it.

Speaker: I know it, you know, mixed from a bunch of people, but it had, they were expanding what they could do.

Speaker: There's a little bit more action in Still Wakes the Deep than the previous games.

Speaker: So,

Speaker: I'm hopeful that, you know, Chinese Room can pull it off.

Speaker: Oh yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I mean, if anyone can, it would be that team.

Speaker: It just depends on, it depends on what they're inheriting.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: That's the tough part.

Speaker: If you guys want us to do this more frequently or anything like that, just let us know in the discord or something, because this is definitely something that we could do.

Speaker: We can definitely just have fun with it.

Speaker: But if we're just navel gazing and jerking off here, we don't want to bore anybody or anything like that.

Speaker: You know?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: We do not want to expose ourselves.

Speaker: You don't want us exposing ourselves.

Speaker: If you know what movie that's from, let me know in the discord.
