00:01:21
Speaker
Thank you for the invitation. Lovely to be here I am going to put a tiny disclaimer out that my dogs are at the door. I can hear them. So if i you guys hear them on the podcast, I'm sorry. Mine's sitting right next to me. So you might hear him as well. Perfect. I mean, listeners of our podcast know that my animals are insane. And if they can't see me, it is insane.
00:01:44
Speaker
Oh, yeah. pain same baby Yes, I have one exactly the same. Perfect. So I guess, is there anything that you wanted to add? Nope, that pretty, I'm always busy doing something or other. so that's quite a good summing up of it Perfect. I know we were looking and we were like, oh my gosh, she has like 30 something books and all of these accolades. Like, how do

Exploring 'Prosperity Magic'

00:02:09
Speaker
we sum her up? That keeps me out of trouble.
00:02:15
Speaker
Also too, so... We, you know, when we received your book, Prosperity Magic, we both obviously, you know, did did a great read through of the book. And I just love the way that it's laid out. um And I know, so Tiffany, I'm not sure if you saw on our socials, but she actually did one of the recipes from your book already. Yeah.
00:02:37
Speaker
I saw chocolate cookies. I haven't been able to make them yet, but I definitely want to make them. They looked amazing. rich and decadent. And my husband was obsessed with them.
00:02:53
Speaker
So I guess to kick it off, what inspired you to write Prosperity Magic? It began... Oh, six years ago now, I think, I was asked to write for Fate and Fortune, which is one of the magazines in the UK that you find in supermarkets and newsagents. So it's quite an na it's quite a general magazine. It's not pagan. It's not witchy. It's It's spiritual, um paranormal, that kind of thing. But you can buy it in regular shops. They were looking for someone to replace someone that was writing for their, the title always makes me laugh, The Witch That Gets You Rich column. They were looking for someone to replace the lady that was leaving. And I thought, yeah, that sounds interesting.
00:03:44
Speaker
And that was six years ago. So I write a column for that every month. And it is all about prosperity, money, magic, abundance, but very straightforward spell working ingredients, things that people that perhaps aren't trained in witchcraft can work with, that make sense, things that they've got to hand, nothing exotic. So that's where the the start of it began. I ended up with all of these spells and all of this information that's been published in the magazine.
00:04:16
Speaker
But I thought, actually, that that would make a nice book. that's yeah not going to That's not going to take me months to write because I've got all the material here. So it's it's literally, ah I brought all the spells together and and added some correspondences and some general information. And that's how the book was born.
00:04:37
Speaker
I love that. And i do want to say that I did notice that everything in there were things that most of us probably have on hand. Like I made those cookies. i did not have to go to the store to get anything. i had everything in my pantry. I love that about this book. Baking is bakings my therapy.
00:04:58
Speaker
Baking is is one of my hobbies. I'm having a bad day. Let's go and bake something. So bringing magic into cooking kind of ties in with my kitchen witchcraft. It's just natural for me to bring those ingredients and add magic to them and bringing magic Some of the ingredients lend themselves perfectly to prosperity magic. And as you say, most people have got them in their cupboards.
00:05:22
Speaker
But even further than that, as a kitchen witch, I work with household magic. So i work with whatever I've got to hand. I don't think witchcraft should cost lots of money. And you should be able to work magic with absolutely anything. Whatever it is in your desk, in your handbag, in your kitchen, in your bathroom cabinet.
00:05:42
Speaker
It's all got the potential to work magic with. I love that you say that because that is something that Sam and i like, we get up on our soapbox all the time on the podcast and say, you know, use what what you have. You don't have to buy all these things. If you have the means to and you want to, that's one thing. But, like, go outside and find a stick, a leaf, whatever. Like, but use what you have. Every witch loves a stick. I'm not a stick.
00:06:10
Speaker
But it has. I'm an animist. So I believe that everything has an energy to it. So why why is a stick any different to paperclip or a tube of toothpaste? or It's all got energy. And

Rachel's Witchcraft Journey

00:06:24
Speaker
if you connect with that energy, you can find out what magic, you can work with it.
00:06:27
Speaker
yeah Before I ask another question about that we have, yeah I guess, developed over regarding the book and prosperity magic and whatnot, I wanted to ask, I'm just so curious, how did you come upon working with magic and what was your path like if you don't mind talking about that kind of fated really because I was born on the 31st of October so dont so I'm born on Samhain um so it was kind of although trick-or-treating and Halloween weren't really so much of a thing when I was younger people did buy me the odd witchy thing or I can remember playing witches down the bottom of the garden with a friend and yeah It kind of, it was there really. my dad, big influence, not a pagan, but he's always been organic gardening, nature, plants, brilliant gardener, bird watching. And I was always down the garden with him. We learned about animals from him, growing all of your own food.
00:07:31
Speaker
that kind of connection to nature. And he would take us out to Stonehenge. all right I'm old enough to remember Stonehenge when you could literally park your car on the verge and go and sit and have your picnic on the stone in the middle. Oh, wow. It was in the 70s. I was quite young. It was in the 70s, but it wasn't fenced off. But we used to visit all of the historic places like that because he has a love of history and the land. and So I think that planted seeds as well.
00:08:01
Speaker
um The baking comes from my mum and my grandmum, that side. But I think that's where it was all, it all began there. And I always had an interest in the Arthurian stories, anything that had dragons in it. Dragon magic has been with me since I was a child. You know, all of the mystical stuff I was fascinated by. I've got books that I bought as a child that are stories about witches and dragons and all of the mythical stuff.
00:08:29
Speaker
So I think it was there from early on. I didn't realise until early 20s what it was. I found a book in a charity shop on the history of witchcraft.
00:08:41
Speaker
Thought, that's interesting. read it and thought, ah, now that all makes sense. That's it. But we're talking pre-internet then. The internet wasn't a thing. So finding books on witchcraft was really difficult. There were a few American books, ah mostly Wicca.
00:09:01
Speaker
And so I literally read whatever I could get my hands on and and taught myself from the beginning. And then I sort of Once the internet became a thing, I found online training. I did my Wiccan training and it kind of all, you know, whatever I could take from there, whatever I could find. And I still do. I still love learning. There's always something new. I'm usually doing a course or learning or delving into something. um it's such a huge subject that there's always something new to learn.
00:09:32
Speaker
I feel like it's also just always evolving too. It's like, even when you learn all you think you can about one thing, you find something new that has come up. Yes. Wicca was my structure to start with because that's what was available and it gave me a good grounding. But I'm not Wiccan now. I don't practice it, but I use a lot of the structure. I use a lot of things from it. If you gave me a label now, it would be Kitchen Witch or Hedge Witch because I work with both those areas. But I

Integrating Diverse Practices

00:10:02
Speaker
love folk magic and whatever.
00:10:05
Speaker
I take bits and pieces from whatever works and make it my own and bring it into my own pathway. Yeah. Your path reminds me so much of Tiffany, like how she grew up. yeah it's there It was very similar too. um And so I'm just like, oh my gosh, that's that's really and that's really awesome. I'm not seeing that mirrored. i know. Because it was like, I grew up in a Pentecostal household with my mother. And then my grandfather was very, i just always thought he was a little eccentric and odd, but like it was the best time of my life every time I was with him. that man grew a garden in the desert that like nobody else could do. Like he had tomatoes growing in the California desert, like abundantly. Yeah. And then he would teach me little things like we would make moon water, but I wasn't allowed to tell my mom or like we would do this if I don't tell your mom. And he never like until I actually met Samantha, I had never even thought anything of it. I did all of these things and just thought that was normal. Yeah.
00:11:08
Speaker
Yes. I was like, are you sure you're not a witch? We're going back and forth. I'm like, I don't know. Am I? yeah And now you come to mention it. yeah yeah And then the more I started researching, I was like, oh, this makes a lot more sense. Yes. It's that light bulb, isn't it? It's that actually this makes so much sense. And yeah you feel at home. I know I did. I thought, yeah, this is it.
00:11:34
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. who So when it comes to prosperity, just as just the term, how do you define it? And

Redefining Prosperity

00:11:44
Speaker
I guess, how does it differ simply from just wealth in general for our listeners? Yeah.
00:11:50
Speaker
It's probably what everybody thinks, isn't it? You hear prosperity and you think money. And, you know, unless we move swiftly to a Star Trek type world where no one needs money. And I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. Everyone needs money to live, to pay your bills, to put food on the table, that kind of thing. So it is important But I think prosperity and probably abundance more so cover so many different subjects.
00:12:19
Speaker
And although when I write for the magazine, it it is focused on money because that's what the column is about. But with the book, I hope people use it as a a structure, a base structure for prosperity and abundance of all kinds. So it could be.
00:12:34
Speaker
an abundance of love in your life or an abundance of friends or if you are looking at business an abundance of new customers or it could even be abundance prosperity of creativity or inspiration or intuition you can apply it to pretty much anything and everything it's just manifesting really whatever it is that you you want or need so although prosperity kind of you think money don't come outside of the box and it could include anything so all of the prosperity spells in my book or anywhere else that you find them just have a think about it you can always tweak it a little so that it works for whatever intent you want it to
00:13:20
Speaker
Yeah, I did love that. I never thought of it this way whenever because, you know, when we hear we hear cord cutting, oftentimes people think about it for relationships or like bad habits and stuff. I never, ever realized that it could be used and like to separate yourself from like. I guess, negative thinking regarding money or debt or things like that. And so reading that part of the book too, I'm just like, oh my God, there's so many different ways that you can practice prosperity magic. And then I never would have thought of that. And I just like get the scissors out. yeah Yes.
00:13:58
Speaker
But it is it's it's debt. And that we do we all get into bad cycles. It happens. And that's negative. So cord cutting, the base of cord cutting is releasing yourself from that negative energy.
00:14:12
Speaker
So it doesn't have to be a relationship. And you're right. It it did does. That's what most people, that's the go-to for it, isn't it? But it could be anything. It could be um overeating, overdrinking, any of the bad habits, addictions, anything like that, that you want to get rid of. Yeah.
00:14:30
Speaker
Call cutting works for any of it. And that includes debts or, you know, buying too many handbags. so but but No, let's not do that. Yeah. Yeah. So how important do you think mindset is in prosperity work?
00:14:47
Speaker
I think mindset is important in all of magic. I think we've i think we often underestimate how powerful the brain is. And I'll use a Terry Pratchett word here, headology.
00:15:01
Speaker
It's the way that you think about things. And it is a lot of how spells work. If you think it's going to work, then you're putting that big positive punch of energy behind it. If you're doubting your own spell working, then it's probably going to fizzle out miserably and not work. So the mindset, I think, is really, really important. You've got to have that will. You've got to have that real, I really need this. I want this to happen. That energy's got to be behind it. So if there's any doubt in there,
00:15:30
Speaker
it will affect it, it will affect the outcome. So yeah, you have, but I think that's generally, isn't it? Positive outcome and yeah how you view life and work with it. It's not always easy. You know, it's not always easy. I think that kind of ties back into some of the, like, well, whether it be chord magic or some other releasing spell, like to release that, like self doubt when it comes to like, is if you are in For instance, just as the easy example, debt, like a massive amount of debt. And you want to be free of that. If you're constantly thinking, I don't know how i'm going to get out of this. i don't know how I'm going to get out of this. And that's like your limiting belief surrounding it. And even though you you want to do these practices or maybe do, you know,
00:16:15
Speaker
an abundance working or a money bowl or whatever it that is. But in the back of your mind, you're thinking like, well, I don't see how this isn't really going to help. Like, you know what I mean? Like, you're never going to be in that headspace to overcome that, to be able to have your working be as beneficial to you as you need it to be.
00:16:35
Speaker
Not that it would erase all debt, It's difficult to step out of. And I do think some people, I do get emails from people saying, oh, I'm in this fix or can you do this? Will you do a spell for me? No is always my answer because I'm not going to be invested in the outcome as much as the person would be.
00:16:55
Speaker
yeah yeah So if you are working that spell, you have to be invested in it yourself. And i it is very difficult, particularly if you're in a bad cycle of bad health or debt in particular.

Mindset and Magic: Keys to Success

00:17:08
Speaker
It's it's difficult to turn that mindset around. So take baby steps.
00:17:13
Speaker
and be sensible about it you can work a spell to win the lottery but the chances of happening are probably fairly slim but if you can start with tiny baby steps start by doing a spell to get any more income or get you extra hours at work or just to chip away at it first at least it's a start and once you start seeing those things happening then you can build up the power of the spell and do the practical things because that's a bit of it as well.
00:17:47
Speaker
Unfortunately, you have got to do practical stuff. Very, very rarely can you work a spell and your debt just disappears. yes Probably never. So you will have to do that actual not spending or working more hours. But the spells for it can help change your mindset, but they can also help new opportunities come your way. Or, you know, sometimes little windfalls or nice big birthday presents with big piles of cash. You never know.
00:18:18
Speaker
It's little things like that. And it all comes together then to ease the situation. Yeah. Yeah. I think you answered the next question I was going to ask. I was asking like, you know, where would you suggest someone begin if they're if they're new to this? And I think that that, you know, definitely answers that question as far as. Keep it simple.
00:18:42
Speaker
Keep it simple. you Once you are a practiced at witchcraft, you know, you you can do more fancy things. I think layering helps. So if you start with a candle spell, start with a colored candle that ties in that adds color magic to it.
00:18:59
Speaker
If you've got some essential oil, put some of that on it that adds another layer of energy. Herbs, that's another layer. Crystal, that's another layer. Once you're experienced with it, you can add all these layers in and build the layers of energy. But if you're just starting out, just ah a birthday cake candle is a really, really easy way to start candle magic.
00:19:19
Speaker
So start with simple, simple things. Yeah. And a birthday candle, just like with any other of the, you know, correspondence, you probably have that in your house. So you don't even need to go out and buy anything for it.
00:19:34
Speaker
are there so I think we've alluded to some of them, but as far as common mistakes that people make when performing prosperity spells, what are the most common ones that that you see people pitfall into?
00:19:47
Speaker
There are a few, I think, in general with spells, like asking to win the lottery and then being disappointed. It doesn't happen. You have to be sensible about your goals. ah If you do a spell to marry a prince, that's probably not going to happen. Keep it sensible. You never know, but keep it sensible and within the bounds of reality, really. um But also focus. you You mentioned mindset. You have to have that. will and intent for it to happen and time frame as well so uh quite often people say to me this i did all this and the spell didn't work and i'll say well did you give it a time frame well no well it might be working then it just might be taking several months to work so if you need particularly in the with a view to prosperity if you need fast money if you need cash you know the end of the week you're going to have to work that into the spell
00:20:44
Speaker
that this is a fast cash situation and we need it by the end of the week. And with that, you can add booster things. You can add a pinch of chili powder or dried chilies or mustard, something hot and fiery, cinnamon to your spell to boost it, to make it work quicker. But word that into your intent and into even into the words of your spell that you need it by a certain date.
00:21:12
Speaker
And then you'll know... that you've set that limit on it. And if it doesn't work, then then something else needs to be figured out. But give it a time limit if that's part of the scheme, because that seems to be something quite often. But I think probably the biggest thing is that lack of energy and focus.
00:21:32
Speaker
You can't just light a candle and sit there and go, oh, I need some money.
00:21:38
Speaker
It's really not going to work. If only it were that easy. Yes. You've got to take, you've got to put that effort in to make it work, to put that will and intent into it. Otherwise you are just lighting a birthday cake candle.
00:21:54
Speaker
Do you have a favorite prosperity ritual or technique from the book that you personally return to? I do like candle magic. It probably is one of my go-to.
00:22:05
Speaker
But there was one that's probably a bit outdated now, actually, is the abundance check spell. ah Do people still use checks? I'm not sure. I don't even have a checkbook anymore. But just every month, printing you can print them off from the internet, the abundance checks. You fill them out, and basically you are writing a petition to the universe that to bring money away. Enough to cover your food, your bills and a little bit extra. but Don't forget that little bit extra.
00:22:34
Speaker
If you are asking for money to cover your bills, to cover your food, don't forget that you are worthy, that you deserve a little bit extra. and write that into the spell as well. And that's what an abundance check does.

Favorite Prosperity Rituals

00:22:48
Speaker
It's kind of a petition to the universe to provide that money or opportunities to earn that money for you. And for a very long time, I would do that every month.
00:22:58
Speaker
And that worked very, very well. Oh, I love that. Yeah. yeah can You just print them off from the internet, but you could write it just like a check yourself on a piece of paper. Mm-hmm. I might try that because I have a book of checks that we never, well we've had it for probably 11 years now we still have like three or four books. Like when am I ever going to use these checks? Like think we've had to use two recently and that was just to buy our cars when we moved back to America. Like that was it. And so what else can I use them for? it This is perfect. Yeah. That checkbook carries the energy of money already because it has that bank, that money connection to it. So the paper that you're writing on is already imbued with money energy.
00:23:46
Speaker
So it's a perfect, perfect foil for writing as a petition. Yeah, that is absolutely perfect. And I love canonizing too. I think one of the other things as well, mentioning worthy, that's an important point. If you don't think that you are worthy of getting that extra money, or earning that extra money or getting those opportunities, then that's going to cause a bit of a blockage as well. So it's about freeing yourself up and knowing that you are absolutely worthy and that you have earned that money or you've earned that treat or you deserve to be financially stable or whatever it might be.
00:24:23
Speaker
Remember that you're worthy of it as well. Yeah, that is, i feel like so important because so many times, I mean, just depending on the person, regardless of like your self-esteem or something, you might think that, oh, you're being greedy if you ask for that, or like you may not be deserving of it. and it's like, no, like, why wouldn't you be deserving of it? Like you should ask for whatever you want.
00:24:47
Speaker
Maybe you'll get it. Yep. but Speaking of like ethics and responsibility, how do you address the idea of abundance without feeding into any sort of greed or imbalance or you know How do you recommend people give back whenever they do abundance workings?

The Role of Offerings in Magic

00:25:05
Speaker
I think whatever spell working you do, you're always asking for something. Whether you are asking for money, whether you're asking for love, healing, friendship, whatever it might be, you are asking.
00:25:19
Speaker
And you can't keep asking whoever, the universe, gods, the divine, whatever it is you connect with, you can't keep asking and expecting them to give. without a thank you.
00:25:31
Speaker
I always make an offering, whatever spell I'm doing. There's always that checks and balances. that For me, there's got to be that I'm asking for something, so here's something in return.
00:25:44
Speaker
So whenever I work a spell, I always give an offering, even if it's feeding the birds or just giving some cake crumbs, which are very precious to me. Yeah. to the garden, to the birds, or, you know, giving ah an offering of wine to the soil or something, or even just putting fresh flowers on my altar.
00:26:03
Speaker
There has to be that balance of energy. I'm asking for something. So here is my offering in return. That to me is really important because you cannot, cannot just keep asking, For starters, they'll get fed up and they will stop. They will stop listening to your requests, let alone you know providing them for you.
00:26:26
Speaker
But I think it's just good manners. it's it If you work with gods or divine anyway, you should have built a relationship up and you'd know that anyway. But yeah, it's just decent manners.
00:26:37
Speaker
Yeah. So I know we've mentioned some little things, but how can someone incorporate prosperity magic into their daily life like in a small, manageable way?

Daily Prosperity Practices

00:26:49
Speaker
Think about things that mean money or prosperity or abundance, things that carry that energy, silly things like coins. Mind you, we're even moving to a cashless society now, aren't we which and So coins, keep a silver coin in your purse or something that represents prosperity and abundance to you. Now, I work with basil and mint.
00:27:12
Speaker
The two herbs are my two go-to for prosperity. So I'm basil leaf in my purse to make sure that money keeps coming in. But it means prosperity to me, it might not to someone else. So it's got to be something that you recognize as a symbol of prosperity.
00:27:30
Speaker
ah Just doing simple things like never leaving your purse completely empty, always make sure there is something in it, even if it's just that coin. to keep that money turning over.
00:27:41
Speaker
Simple phrases of things as well. When you are paying something, just, you know, I'm giving this money out, but I'm hoping some will come back to me. It's is's a different way of thinking about things.
00:27:54
Speaker
And thinking about all of the things that represent it to you. When your coffee, I mean, coffee and chocolate both used to be very expensive and sugar, very expensive ingredients.
00:28:06
Speaker
When you are making your coffee in the morning, if you add a teaspoon of sugar or honey or whatever it might be, just charge it with a little bit of energy that you have a, you know, that, that sweetness makes your day sweeter and your life more prosperous or more abundant. Think about all the ingredients because everything carries that energy.
00:28:29
Speaker
So it's just making that connection to all of those very simple things that you do every day. Yeah. I like that because it also, for somebody who's maybe newer to, whatever, whether that be paganism, Wicca, whatever path they're following.
00:28:46
Speaker
I feel like I grew up in it, so it doesn't feel so overwhelming to me, but I can imagine like having, especially in this day and age with the internet, with access to all of these things, it can be so overwhelming to figure out what your practice is and to figure out like what you should be doing. And even if it is, you know, something small every day,
00:29:06
Speaker
If something as simple as adding a little bit of cinnamon into your coffee or adding that honey in if you're mindful about that's just as powerful as do it. like You don't have to do like a full on ritual every day. Make your coffee your morning ritual and have that be the thing that you do every day that connects you back to your craft. And I think that that's really important. And it's something that we do talk about on the podcast because I see how Someone who is, you know maybe they grew up in, you know, Christian religions or any other religion and they're trying to figure out their lifestyle now. They're like, well, but this is all, there's just so much information and there's so many things that you can do or you should do. And it's just like, no, like find what works for you. And if this doesn't work for you, that's cool. Don't, don't do it, but find something else you could do every day and just be intentional about it.
00:29:58
Speaker
I think one of the first things to learn is to trust your intuition. If it feels right, do it. If it feels hinky, don't do it. And I think that goes for everything. I don't do great big rituals every day, every week, not even every month. I don't work spells every day, not not what I would call a structured spell.
00:30:19
Speaker
It all works in with my daily routine. um yeah i don't I don't smudge every day, but I do dust or hoover every week. So that my my would clear out the negative energy chant gets done when I'm vacuuming the carpet or dusting the windowsill. or You have to bring it into your daily life properly.
00:30:40
Speaker
Being a witch for me is twenty four seven There is no separation from what I do, whether I'm typing an email or leading a full ritual. I am a witch either way. And it is being in the shower and letting the water release negative energy from you and charging your shower gel with positive energy so that you have a good day. Little things like that all bring the magic into everyday life. But I think it's all down to connection. yeah It is connecting to the energy that's around you. It's connecting to the energy of the land you're standing on, the energy of your house, whatever you're working with has that and it's about connecting to that. But yeah, small things. You don't have to throw yourself fully into it with all the bells and whistles at first because that would just become confusing for a start and expensive.
00:31:29
Speaker
yeah yeah in this on that Yeah, yeah. And it is. The internet is overwhelming. And I think it's important to remember as well that not everything on the internet is correct. Not everything in books are correct. They are just opinions, options, ways that work for other people. I think for me, one of the brilliant things about witchcraft is that you can tailor it to suit yourself.
00:31:54
Speaker
Yeah. And no one can say you're doing it wrong. If they tell you that, walk away very quickly. yes Yeah. And I love how even just like with the example that you gave of charging your shower gel and um washing away like negative energy in the shower and whatnot, it also helps you to be more mindful. And especially in especially this digital age where your attention is constantly being grabbed every time you have access to a phone, computer, whatever, your attention is always constantly being intentionally pulled away to keep you from being grounded.
00:32:33
Speaker
Little practices like this will keep you being grounded in that day and have you be more intentional and I guess just mindful about what you do throughout the day and it will probably keep you off of your phone. So Technology is wonderful. I love technology. ah it allows me It allows me to work from home. It allows me to connect across thousands of miles on things like this. So it is wonderful. But yeah, you do have to step away from it on occasion just to connect with everything that's going on around you. But I think, again, that is that perhaps one thing that a witch does. We are conscious of not just seeing things, but really seeing things, seeing the things that are there and the things that perhaps aren't so obvious and listening to things, hearing things that not everybody would and using all of our senses to reach out, to connect with the world around us.
00:33:34
Speaker
Yeah. If readers take away just one core lesson from... your book prosperity magic, what would you hope that it is? That they're

Empowering the Audience

00:33:43
Speaker
worthy. yeah It sounds really corny. and I think it is. And I think also that you are in control.
00:33:51
Speaker
You really are in control of your own destiny, your own pathway, your own financial situation. Sometimes it's difficult to see a way out, but there will be.
00:34:03
Speaker
It's just taking control of that. Yeah. What advice would you give to someone who feels stuck financially or energetically right now? but That's happened to me on more than one occasion. I think it's about pausing.
00:34:21
Speaker
some It's very easy to get stuck in either of those situations and you can't see the wood from the trees. it can be very overwhelming. Take a step back.
00:34:33
Speaker
Deep breath, pause, take a step back. um But also reach out. There are lots of people, friends, family, people on the internet that will always help and support if you're in any kind of sticky situation. But yeah, it's about, and it's difficult, but you you have to pause and take a step back from it all because you can get so deep in it that you cannot see anywhere out.
00:34:55
Speaker
You have to do that kind of, right, let's look at this from a higher, bigger perspective and see what can happen. I love that. I just... I feel like that's especially ah for somebody who is feeling stuck, whether that be financially or energetically, it's so easy to just be completely overwhelmed and feeling frozen in the moment. So to be able to like, okay, first step is take a deep breath.
00:35:20
Speaker
Yeah. Just chill out for a second. And then let's ask for help because someone's always going to be there to help. Yeah. And tiny steps too. Don't expect to sort it all out in one fell swoop because that's rarely going to happen. You will, whether it is whatever situation it is, it'll be tiny steps until you get, but there there's a goal. So yeah. And I, I feel as well too, even just, this isn't even related to magic, but if you even just reach out to somebody who's close to you and talk to them about what you're going through, Having that perspective, especially if you are so tunnel visioned, you can't see a way out of it.
00:36:00
Speaker
Maybe there is a really good idea that a friend or family member would have that you could yeah incorporate to make it a little bit more manageable. so Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. As far as your own magical practice, is there anything that you're currently exploring for the first time or um anything that's interesting you that's that's new in your path?
00:36:22
Speaker
i i In the past couple of years, I have steered more and more towards folk magic. I think it was probably inspired by, I've worked with lots of gods, lots of different deities from different pantheons over the years, whoever's come my way, I have accepted, okay, you're here for a reason. Let's build this relationship.
00:36:44
Speaker
ah The Kailach has been with me for many years. She's based Scotland, her origins. But then I discovered Sulis a few years back, who is based in Somerset in England.
00:36:56
Speaker
only there, nowhere else. So she is a true English goddess and they are very rare. Yes. You get the Celtic, for want of a better word, pantheon, but that's usually Welsh and Irish with a few Scottish in there. So i I've been on a bit of a mission in the last couple of years to unearth all the original English deities. So English gods and goddesses tend to be located in one place in England. They will be...
00:37:26
Speaker
um tight sort of anchored really to a river or a town or a grove or something that's been fascinating and that kind of led me more into the folk magic side of things and expanded my hedge witchcraft as well hedge riding I do stepping into the other world so definitely more along the folk magic type path in the more you know in more recent years i love that I ah So I lived in England for about three years, a little over three years, almost four years. My husband's military and so we were stationed in in Lake and Heath area.
00:38:07
Speaker
And I have never felt, and we just moved from Japan and that's a highly energetically charged area too. Oh, yes. I never felt more connected, I feel like, to my practice and path than when we were in England. Yeah.
00:38:22
Speaker
And it was just, it was ah so heartbreaking to leave. I keep telling my husband, we're moving back. When you retire, we're moving back. I don't care. I'm moving back to England. Like that is where I'm supposed to be. I know that I'm supposed to be there.
00:38:35
Speaker
That's really interesting because I feel like I, when I was living there, I don't think I really knew where to turn to learn more about like, just when we first got there, I was looking at different, you know, to see maybe I should join a coven or, um you know, whatnot, trying to find, metaphysical shops. i feel like I had such a hard time trying to find different places that were around the area that we lived in. But i think that is so interesting. I am going to have to look into English gods and goddesses too. I i didn't even know that there were specific...
00:39:11
Speaker
I wrote a book about it. Of course I did. We're very lucky because in England, in the UK, we have so many layers of history, layer upon layer.
00:39:28
Speaker
And I think everybody kind of thinks the Romans are the big thing. And then you've got the Anglo-Saxons, the Vikings, heathens. But before the Romans came, there were tribes in England and each tribe,
00:39:41
Speaker
had its own spirituality. Each tribe had its own deity. Now, most people are probably familiar with Boudicca, Boudicca, however you want to say it. She called upon a goddess, an ancient goddess, Andraste, or Andred, depending on the Roman version of it.
00:39:59
Speaker
But it's only mentioned in one speech that one Roman wrote down. And that's it, pretty much. It's not mentioned anywhere else. And that's the trouble with the English deities. There is very, very little information. Sometimes it is one place name or one piece of altar stone that's been found with a name engraved on it. So it takes a bit of digging for a lot of them to find out. But that but they're there.
00:40:28
Speaker
They are there. They've just been forgotten about. Just a question to kind of end on. What's a small daily ritual that you never skip even when your life gets chaotic?
00:40:41
Speaker
Connecting. It is connecting, which is kind of helped by the dog, Eric, because... I have to let him out first thing in the morning. He goes out in the garden. So while he's doing his thing, i connect with the energy. I live on the edge of a city. i'm i'm not I'm not a witch in a tumble-down cottage in the middle of a forest somewhere.
00:41:01
Speaker
I'm on the edge of a city. We have a tiny city garden, but that's my my thing. Every morning I connect with the energy of the day. what's happening in the garden, what the air feels like, what the weather feels like. I connect with the energy of my house anyway and the land that my house is on. So that's my morning. It's my morning kind of plug-in to the energy of the day. Just to sometimes I get words, sometimes I get feelings, sometimes I just, okay, let's breathe.
00:41:31
Speaker
But that's my connection every morning with the energy of the world around me. I love that. Yeah. And I feel like that's something... Again, something so accessible to anyone listening. If there's something that they're looking for to do you know every day, something small, that everyone can do that.
00:41:51
Speaker
Yep. That's, I think I'm going to borrow that and start incorporating that because in the morning, oftentimes when I let my dog out, I just stand by the door because it's cold right now. And I'm just like, yeah car it not like but it it literally takes a minute just while they're doing their thing. Just, yeah, feet on the ground. Yeah. close your eyes if you want to just a few deep breaths and connect with that the land beneath your feet and the energy around you and that that does really plug you in for the day yeah no that's great I love that well before we close out this episode do you where can our listeners find you is there anything that you would like to plug um and where can our listeners find you at
