1 VOTE DECIDES? How Iowa Independent Michael Bridgford Plans to Leverage the Speaker's Gavel

What happens when the balance of power in Washington comes down to a single independent vote?

This week on The MiddleGround Mic, we sit down with Michael Bridgford, an Independent candidate running in one of the tightest congressional districts in the country. With the House of Representatives divided by the slimmest of margins, Bridgford outlines a bold strategy: using the crucial Speaker of the House vote as leverage to force the establishment parties to agree on common-sense reforms.

Bridgford explains how breaking the two-party gridlock can pave the way for highly demanded legislation, including strict congressional term limits and a total ban on members of Congress trading individual stocks. We also explore his perspective as an independent financial advisor on stabilizing the economy, protecting the middle class, and implementing federal policies to manage the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.

If you are exhausted by partisan echo chambers and want to understand the exact mechanics of how a third-party candidate can wield real power in Washington, this episode breaks down the math and the strategy.
