Are we raising our children to succeed, or are we simply hoping they survive?

In this episode of The MiddleGround Mic, host Joseph Steagall sits down with Dr. Robert "Bob" Saul, a pediatrician, author, and children's advocate with more than four decades of experience, for an important conversation about conscious parenting, raising responsible citizens, and rebuilding stronger communities.

Drawing on his remarkable medical career and his book My Children's Children: Raising Young Citizens in the Age of Columbine, Dr. Saul explores why parenting goes far beyond providing food, shelter, and education. It's about teaching empathy, accountability, compassion, and the responsibility we all share for the next generation.

At the heart of our discussion is Dr. Saul's powerful 12-word mantra:

"I am the problem. I am the solution. I am the resource."

What would happen if more parents, educators, and community leaders embraced that philosophy?

We discuss the lessons Dr. Saul has learned from decades of working with families, the challenges facing today's parents, the importance of conscious parenting, and why building healthier communities starts with each of us.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, or someone concerned about the future of our children, this conversation offers a different way to think about the responsibility we share.

What do China, Greenland, Iran, artificial intelligence and the price of gasoline have to do with each other?

Potentially quite a lot.

Ron Bee returns to The MiddleGround Mic to connect several of the biggest geopolitical stories happening right now — and explain how international decisions can eventually reach American consumers and businesses.

We spend over $1.5 trillion every year fighting poverty in the United States, so why does taking a raise or getting a better job leave a struggling family worse off?

In this episode of The MiddleGround Mic, host Joe sits down with Clarence H. Carter, author of Our Net Has Holes in It and a 35-year public service veteran who has served under two presidents, four governors, and a mayor. Clarence breaks down the systemic reality of the "benefit cliff" and why having 114 separate government assistance programs traps people in dependency.

In this episode, we unpack:

 * The Welfare Trap: How earning a small wage increase can instantly strip away vital family benefits.
 * Systemic Failure: Why fragmenting the safety net creates administrative chaos instead of human growth.
 * Work Requirements: Overcoming real-world barriers like childcare and transportation.
 * Relational Capital: Why local nonprofits and communities succeed where federal bureaucracies fail.
 * The Generational Divide: Addressing the reality that younger Americans feel the economic system is entirely stacked against them.

Adam Swart runs Crowds on Demand, the largest protest-for-hire firm in America. He doesn't call himself an activist—he calls it what it actually is: paid public relations and political machinery.

In this episode, Swart pulls back the curtain on how modern American political campaigns and grassroots movements are manufactured behind closed doors.

Key Topics Covered:

 * How political movements rely on hidden funding, astroturfing, and paid crowd mobilization
 * How closed-door institutional endorsements determine elections long before voters step into the booth
 * Why traditional political polling has lost reliability in modern elections
 * The economic reality of blind party loyalty in both red and blue districts
 * Why viewing politicians as transactional employees gives voters real leverage

The MiddleGround Mic

The MiddleGround Mic is a centrist politics and news commentary podcast for independent voters, moderates, and anyone tired of partisan talking points. Hosted by Joseph Steagall, the show covers elections, foreign policy, Michigan and Detroit local politics, media accountability, and the economy — grounded in verifiable receipts instead of tribal loyalty. No Left. No Right. Forward.

Ranked Top 30 in Politics (June 2026) with more than 1.3 million downloads, the show brings bipartisan analysis and long-form interviews with journalists, policymakers, foreign policy experts, candidates, and everyday people — not scripted talking heads. Recent conversations have covered Iran's nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz, the Wayne County SMART bus millage, media trust and investigative journalism, election law and ballot access, and the collapse of institutional trust in America.

Being centrist isn't fence-sitting. It's refusing to hand either party a free pass, and having the spine to say what the loudest voices on both ends won't. If you're an independent, a moderate, or just exhausted by the screaming, this is politics without the team jersey.
