Speaker: Well... Before we start this episode, we have some shout outs. Yay! Wee! So thank you so much, Kate, on Patreon for subscribing to our podcast. And then also Amy on Supercast. We love you so much. You can't see it right now, but I'm making. A heart for you. Oh, you're doing like the young kid heart. The young kid heart.

Speaker: but I'll stick with the millennial heart. If only you could see it. My kids were asking me yesterday, they were like, if we wanted to find your podcast, what would we search? And I was like, nothing. And they were like. Do people actually listen to you? I was like, um actually, yes. um now We have a lot.

Speaker: of people who listen to us thank you Yeah. We have subscribers. Thanks. yeah So yeah. Oh.

Speaker: children. I know yeah. And then my husband was like, see, I keep telling you guys, you guys got to do the video podcast. And I'm just like, I don't like those though. I don't either. I like watching.

Speaker: there's a singular one that i do and then outside of that i'm like i i just want to listen yeah i just want to listen i don't want to watch you me too he's like you guys need to do video content and i'm like I know. Nobody needs to see me. i'm literally If you guys could see me right now.

Speaker: I have showered. But I have my hair in a ponytail. I'm not wearing makeup. I'm in black leggings and... A sweatshirt that's too big for my husband, so.

Speaker: but It's like a sweatshirt dress, basically. Yeah. and i just woke up so i I'm in my pajamas, so. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker: I don't know. Also like... ah Power to the people that do video content. I like I also have a business and I'm like, I don't even know how you even start creating video content.

Speaker: I don't know. I just feel like. It would be one thing if we were in the same place. Like I know I keep it weird. Like, so sometimes I'll watch them on YouTube because I've usually always have already listened to the podcast episode and they do a lot of video um stuff as well.

Speaker: But... Like they're like the only ones that I could sit and watch a video of. yeah But the the ones where it's like they're they're super famous on like TikTok and stuff and they have, you know, like the am I the asshole ones where they're like in the blankets and and they're just like talking and they're reading shit off of Reddit. Like that's not a podcast. I'm sorry. You're just reading stories off of Reddit.

Speaker: like, I don't like any of that. So. Yeah, the only one that I like doing. um and When I don't watch. their videos very often. um I'll watch like snippets of them on TikTok and then occasionally I'll sit down and watch like the YouTube video of it. But last podcast on the left, if I really like that. into the story, I'm like, okay.

Speaker: i'll watch this one but even then i don't know like i'm not like I want to be able to do other stuff while I'm listening. I don't want to sit and watch. Right. No. or if i this talk i too like if If you're just talking, I could put you in my ear and I could listen to you. Yeah. If I'm going to watch something, I'm going to watch something on my TV. like And that's not going to be a podcast. I'm sorry.

Speaker: No. Juan, you guys get... For subscribers, anyways. You get videos of us talking about books. Yeah. So there's that. I feel like – I mean, i I'm glad that you guys watched them, but also, like – Beep. Do you really want to just watch us talk? We could do more. Does anyone really want to watch us talk?

Speaker: I don't know. maybe Maybe that's what the people want, Tiffany. We gotta to give the people what they want. I mean, we'll give the people what they want, but nobody has been like... We want to see your faces. It's just been your husband and my brother yelling at us this whole time.

Speaker: They want to see our faces. yeah yeah But. We're not talking about this long rant about video content. No, we're not. That's like the worst banter ever. but I know. Sorry, guys.

Speaker: What are we talking about today? we' We're talking about ghost hunting. We've been talking about doing this episode for a very long time. And I sat down. yesterday I think and was trying to like put some thoughts together and I was like For me, outside of actively seeking when we go to like haunted places.

Speaker: I feel like it just happens. mm -hmm So I was like, how do you describe that? so yeah yeah well And here's the thing, we're not professional ghost hunters by any means.

Speaker: and it would have been like and and maybe i don't know if you are a professional ghost hunter and you're listening to this and you want to come on the show and talk about it with us we would love to have you that But, you know, we're not here also like this episode is not to convince you that every weird noise is a ghost. We're talking about what happens when you intentionally put yourself in places where people have reported paranormal activity and what we've personally experienced. and so yeah

Speaker: This episode is going to be more of like a conversational episode about our own experiences and what we think about the topic. Yeah. So I have just like some, I'm not sure if you saw like, but I.

Speaker: wrote down some discussion questions and yeah okay so I figured we could just go back and forth and like Talk about. some of these things and our experiences if you don't. Perfect.

Speaker: So when we're thinking about ghost hunting. I guess the first question here is like, what? do we mean when we say ghost hunting? What actually counts as ghost hunting, Tiffany?

Speaker: I mean, for me, again. I just have random Benjamins popping up in my house, but I know personally. And we have done this together before, like going into haunted locations. You research a place and you're like, oh, this place, everybody says it's haunted. And then going there. Yeah. Which, you know, Julia and I do that. We do girls trips, my best friend and I.

Speaker: where we just we pick somewhere that we know is haunted and we do like a whole weekend there and then we'll go to like haunted places places that are known to be haunted or people say that they've had these experiences so I think what would actually be meant by saying like what is ghost hunting is like doing the research Yeah.

Speaker: And then B being like, okay, let's go. Let's go yeah see what's there. Yeah, and it could be. Going, I think, I agree. like

Speaker: doing the research ahead of time, but and then going in with an open mind of like, if we capture something, we capture something. Yeah. And that could even I would imagine too, because I've gone on a few ghost tours, and I believe you have as well. Like, I definitely think that that could be a ghost hunting experience. If you're going somewhere and you're listening to the history of a place and you're going in with an open mind. Yeah. I would say too, like it could even be as simple as, you know, I live across the street from a cemetery. You had a cemetery near you and you're like.

Speaker: I'm just going to go see what I experience. you know yeah i i think what's important To say, though, and you kind of did in the intro is. Not.

Speaker: going in with the expectation that's a that something's going to happen and be that every experience is. a haunted a spirit or ah a ghost or you know something like that because sometimes a noise is just a noise yep that is true and so like looking at some of our experiences and I know we've talked about probably every single one of these on the podcast already a long time ago. So we're not to rehash.

Speaker: old episodes and go line by line of everything and doing the whole story again, but just kind of our experiences related to ghost hunting. So the first one, Tiffany and I with...

Speaker: Anthony and then Someone who must not be named. Someone we don't talk to anymore. Voldemort. to Jefferson State Penitentiary. in what like 2018 i think it was a while ago it was a long time ago It was. And we spent the night there. And it was a crazy fucking experience. It was wild. And it was so cold. And we had to wear headlamps because there was no electricity in most of the...

Speaker: prison. yeah It was very cold. So cold. What made us want to do it? I just like spooky shit. I'm a spooky bitch. Yeah.

Speaker: I'm like, oh, that's haunted. Bet. Let me go. Let me go. How do I get there? It's an overnight situation. Okay. and that yeah that was the first time I've done an overnight I don't know about you, but that was the first time I spent the night.

Speaker: Intentionally. In a haunted place. And there was zero sleeping until we got in the car. Yeah. And thank God for Anthony, because there was no way either any of us could drive except for Anthony. No, because what time we had to be there at like eight or nine o 'clock at night.

Speaker: And then they locked the doors, I think, at 10, right? Yeah, and I think we left at like 6 a .m. Yeah, so you were locked in essentially from 10 p .m. till six o 'clock in the morning.

Speaker: And... Part of it. was guided like we had colored wristbands, I think. for our groups. And then like your group had a tour guide that took you around for like the first hour, I think, or maybe two hours. And then the rest of the time you were just on your own exploring.

Speaker: the grounds of the prison the cells the basements the yeah Gas chamber, the... ah I forgot about the gas chamber. That was wild. yeah Yeah, but like...

Speaker: I don't know. That was the first time I had done an overnight and. I went back there with Julia. We couldn't do the overnight. It was already like. fully booked so we just did like um I think it was a four hour tour. Like we were still in there for four hours.

Speaker: So, but it just wasn't like. As long as ours. And same thing, like. it was just as insane. When we went. for the four hour as it was.

Speaker: for us doing a whole overnight like the shit we saw in there was wild Yeah, I'm creepy. It was, yeah, the atmosphere was definitely.

Speaker: you could it felt heavy in a lot of places it felt very heavy and Outside of it just being scary because it was dark and just. Being there in the dark. i am yeah But there were times, I mean, like going in, like obviously like we're excited and.

Speaker: We're open to the opportunities, but we're not going in there expecting to see something or capture anything. Well, and we went with the biggest skeptic of all, my husband. who he'll explain every sound in the house is air pressure.

Speaker: Yeah. that's how my husband is too yeah he went in there being like okay ghost and then he was like um okay ghosts yeah and so even just like a few of the things that we like there was stuff that happened to us that we genuinely just could not explain And I remember vividly.

Speaker: being in that crypt area with we were in one of the cells yeah And. there was a medium and so the four of us were in the cell there was a medium and she was talking outside of the cell but like further back and she's picking up on spirits and she's just like i don't know who's in that very last crypt So, but that spirit is going in there with you yeah and that's where we were.

Speaker: And that's where they left us, remember? yeah They didn't realize we were still down there. And I'm like, you had to walk by us to get out. What do you mean? And then the fact that we didn't know that they were walking by. No. We couldn't hear anything. had likes We should have seen something. We didn't hear or see anything. And they didn't hear or see us. And we're in there talking. We're like.

Speaker: wearing our headlamps well I think we had shut them off when we were in there didn't we yeah we shut that we had to shut them off and then but we could still I remember you had glow -in -the -dark nail polish on I did yeah and you were like we're because me and she who must be who must not be named, we were sitting beside each other and you and Anthony you were sitting across from us. And we were having a fun time because I was like, oh, we can still see your nail polish though. And you were like dancing around. Yeah, dancing with your hands. And then whenever they...

Speaker: the lady had said like oh there's a spirit going in there with you all of a sudden we couldn't see your nail polish anymore and you're like i'm still holding them up well i just remember because you were like did you put your nails like did you tuck your hands down. And I was like, no.

Speaker: And you were like, what do you mean? And I was like they're still i'm like, I was still moving them. I was still dancing, and having a great time. And you're like, no, I literally cannot see them. Yeah. And then she, who must not be named, was like, I also cannot say anything. I thought you put your hands in your pockets. like So that's when we knew there was somebody in there with us. Yeah. so yeah Well, do you remember too, when Anthony, we were in a different, this was with. um Again, I don't remember if this one was with a medium or it was with.

Speaker: just one of the guides, but we had gone into a different area. I think it was the women's. Prison? or So I know the crypt area was like the criminally insane. Yeah.

Speaker: It was like the solitary. There's no windows. It's... It really is. It's like bricks, like almost bricks. tomb type situation awful it's like everything that you picture when you're reading a story that talks about putting someone into like a solitary confinement yeah but um we had gone into a different area i don't remember what it was but we were in a cell again the four of us and they had asked one person

Speaker: from each cell to step outside the cell. yeah And do you remember anthony got and Anthony was like, I'll do it. And he's standing outside and we could see him. And then all of a sudden we couldn't. Yeah. Like it was just like this big.

Speaker: black mass and we were like AAAAAAAA Go. then Because that was the same location, too, where the medium had said something like there is somebody crawling on the floor. Oh, yeah. And we felt like somebody touching us. And that was something pulled my hair. Remember? Yeah, that was creepy. I squealed like a little girl. I was like. look Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. There's a lot of crazy shit that happened there. It was... quite insane. It was probably one of the... most active. haunted places I've ever gone. Yeah. And I feel like with those two, like especially as you mentioned, like bringing, of course, Anthony there and him being like a huge skeptic, it's one of those things where it's like, if you...

Speaker: are open to experiences and you want to go and and say, like, you're a skeptic, but you're super open. This would be the place to go. Yeah. Yeah. So this is the it's the Missouri State Penitentiary, also called like the Jefferson State Penitentiary. It's in Jefferson, Missouri. And it's no like it's nicknamed the bloodiest 47 acres in America, because at one point the prisoners.

Speaker: overtook the guards and were running the prison for I don't remember how long that lasted but there was a lot of death And tragedy tied to that. And it definitely.

Speaker: shows in that place. It really does.

Speaker: Like if you're new to it and you're kind of a skeptic and you're curious and you want to go somewhere highly active. From our own experience, that would be a good place. yeah If you're super seasoned and you haven't yet found a place.

Speaker: That's super active. Also, Fantastic place. That would be a great place for anybody to go. I feel like if you're, if you're interested. And wanting to experience something that you can't explain.

Speaker: Yeah. You have the ghost app on here too. Oh yes, the ghost app. I know so which part. There were multiple parts where like...

Speaker: We experienced, and I know we've talked about this on the podcast, but so very quickly, because we're going to talk about ghost. app. or ghost hunting like apps and stuff like that later on in the episode but This app, um I don't even have it on my phone anymore, but like, because it's changed. Like we have a new one now that we use.

Speaker: But there was an app that we both had on our phones that we downloaded. out like somebody else had it and they were like what is that and it was like a yeah style app We downloaded it. And some of the shit that was coming through was insane.

Speaker: I still have it on my phone, but I don't know if like a new company bought it because they changed the name of it because now it's just called Ghost Hunting Tool. Okay. Yes, because it used to be called like something completely different. And I don't remember what it was.

Speaker: yeah But, yeah. Now it's just called ghost hunting tool. I have not used it. Since we've got the other one, so I don't know like if it still works the same, but I would assume it would.

Speaker: keep it It really doesn't matter. But the one that we had, and this was like 2018, of course, but like. yeah The one that we had. was so We downloaded it on... um the recommendation of somebody else on the... the tour and yeah.

Speaker: We were, I remember. um being in the crypt. and At this point, we had known. What the heck was that? the chickens they're they're really on it today no it's it's literally just that they've been wild today so ah Um...

Speaker: But. One of the things I remember the most is at this point, because in the in the history, when they told us more of the history, there was a some sort of, I don't know if it was cholera, dysentery, some sort of outbreak.

Speaker: And, uh... If you had it. For a little while, they were segregating people. down into the crypts and just letting them like figure it out and it's like either you survive or you die we don't know and then they buried them in the parking lot and covered them in cement Yeah. And it was like one of those things where they can never read.

Speaker: do that parking lot because whatever the disease i don't remember what it was but like whatever the diseases is would still if they disturb the soil it would come back out like come back out yeah In fact, to people, but.

Speaker: We got... EVPs coming through in that location that we're... based on that history. And it's not like we were Googling or anything like that. no I don't even know if we even had the app on our phone at the time that we had heard about the history of that location. And so it was very wild that. yeah

Speaker: we got EVPs talking about like being really sick and being placed down there and not being able to leave and like how there was like a demonic element to it like that was coming through and not saying that there was but like at yeah that time period like oftentimes and what we see in history just in general for things that are unexplained people often associate it with the demonic and so yeah i could see how

Speaker: If you were a prisoner in that place and you were experiencing this terrible sickness and you don't know how you got it, how easily your mind would be like, oh, and maybe this has something to do with demons.

Speaker: Yeah. Well, the thing for me too was... I don't know if you remember also when we were down there. Um. Anthony was using.

Speaker: the app And he was like asking questions and I don't remember what he had asked, but the, it kept saying, it kept telling him. to his right to his right to his right and he like turned and then it went your wife and I was standing to his right do you remember that and I was like I don't want to be down here anymore yeah like i I don't want to um and then that time that we Went into that. other I think. That was in the women's prison. We had gone in and we were on the bottom floor. And I think it was two stories, maybe three stories.

Speaker: We're on the bottom floor and we're using and it Anthony's asking it questions and it kept saying like ceiling, ceiling, see it like everything. It just kept. ah over and over ceiling ceiling and so we were like maybe it means like the second floor so we had like started going up to the second floor and as we passed The level of the ceiling of the first floor, it went too high.

Speaker: And we were like. Okay, we're just going to go ahead and go now. I think we left. Yeah, we straight left. We were like, no, thank you. Yeah.

Speaker: So. um Yeah, that that place definitely haunted. um And definitely a great place to go if you're into this kind of stuff. Tell us about some of the experiences that you've had with ghost hunting.

Speaker: um so as i said the bestie and i like to do little ghost hunting girls trips all the time so we did eureka springs in um Arkansas. I almost said Alabama. And I was like, that is wrong in Arkansas. Um, and We had been looking at different places.

Speaker: being like okay where do we want to do a trip we're somewhere that's like kind of in between for both of us because we were going to drive and meet each other there And so we picked... Eureka Springs because it was kind of.

Speaker: Almost the same driving distance for both of us. um And we kind of looked into this. hotel, the Crescent Hotel. And it. is one of those places that has changed hands quite a few times and has had a lot of tragedy.

Speaker: tied to it people falling from scaffolding and dying on the property. um At one point it was... um a kind of supposed cancer treatment.

Speaker: um resort Essentially, I forget the guy's name that did this, but he was selling snake oil that was just the spring water of Eureka.

Speaker: And was basically telling people, if you have cancer, come in this, I'll do these treatments and it'll cure you. But he was literally just giving them Eureka spring water and then sending them on their way. But a lot of people ended up dying on the grounds and a lot of like.

Speaker: terrible things happen under his care a lot of experiments on very sick people and um Yeah, there's a lot of just a lot of tragedy. So it's known to be a very, very haunted place. A lot of people experience a lot of things there. And we definitely did. And I believe I've talked about Eureka Springs on the podcast before. I think we did an episode on it, didn't we? you Yes, we have. Spooky Destination 1.

Speaker: But... we So we did like the little ghost tour and literally nothing happened. on the ghost tour that we knew of. But we had been taking pictures the whole time too.

Speaker: And in one of the pictures that one of us took, so there's a cat. A ghost cat. that is known to be seen on the grounds. um Eureka Springs or Crescent City has always had a cat.

Speaker: That kind of belongs to the hotel, but it's like does its own thing. And so one of the cats had passed away. I don't remember its name, but it. People have said that they've seen.

Speaker: this cat since it's died. um But it's the ghost of the cat supposedly. And we were like, oh, that's really cute. And afterwards, like we only stayed one night there and then we stayed in a.

Speaker: um airbnb after that. But we were looking through the pictures at the Airbnb and in one of them, it looks like... There's four little lights. like in the carpet, essentially.

Speaker: exactly where like a cat's paws would be and so we were like oh my god did we get the cat like the cat yeah And we had like Julia and I. both had weird experiences in our hotel room.

Speaker: and We both woke up at the same time at night to breathing at the foot of our beds because of the feet, like the beds were kind of. um like one how do you what is that one bed was this way and one bed was this way Well, perpendicular would be that way, right?

Speaker: That's parallel. Perpendicular. Like one was facing left, right one's facing. Yeah. yeah the other yeah so perpendicular yeah okay i was like cattywampus i don't know What even is that word? You don't know what county Marcus is? No. Oh, okay.

Speaker: So our beds were perpendicular. I guess. and at the suction. where the ends of our beds were, we woke up to breathing.

Speaker: at the foot of the beds no thank you them and both were just like nope and like rolled over and went back to sleep like i don't want any of this yeah so yeah um so like you know the tour was whatever but like the night we definitely experienced some stuff there at night um and when we were showering which was not cool ghosts don't be perverts okay and then we had some weird things happen in our airbnb as well

Speaker: um which was not noted to be haunted, but it definitely was. We straight up did not have a good time for two nights. so Yeah. yeah one of them julia felt um felt like her bed decompressed next to her, like something had crawled into bed with her.

Speaker: And then the next night I woke up completely soaked. And there was no... lot and like no form of water in her room at all like I literally woke up and was like because we were sleeping in bunk beds because we thought this is hilarious we're taking the bunk bedroom and she was sleeping on the top bunk and I was in the bottom bunk And I woke up and I'm like.

Speaker: did you pee the bed that she's like what the hell are you talking about i'm like why am i wet I like my hair was soaked. My clothes were the whole bed was soaked.

Speaker: There's no water in this room. we don't know what the fuck happened but Eureka Springs is definitely. a fun place too like there's a lot of really fun stuff to do there's really pretty graveyards um And then, you know. There's some.

Speaker: Some ghostly activity. Yeah, there's a lot of haunted shit. For sure. um Other places, I would say New Orleans, which I feel like everybody knows New Orleans has its own history.

Speaker: um For us, ah we went to Muriel's. We had dinner at Muriel's, which is known to have... A couple of resident ghosts. But i do I'll have to see if I can find the pictures from that and post them, um if I can find them. But I took a picture. They have a table set for one of the... um resident host who died on the property.

Speaker: And so they set a table for him and we had done like our, they let you like walk around. After you eat, you can walk around the building and like. take pictures and spend time in like different areas. And I took a picture of the table and we definitely captured something in that.

Speaker: Mmm. Yeah. yeah So if I can find the pictures, I'll definitely share them. Yes. And then. do My last one that I could think of was Greyfire's Kirkyard in Edinburgh, which is where the Greyfire poltergeist is.

Speaker: um we anthony i went we spent probably about an hour just walking around and you know The cemetery there is just absolutely beautiful. We went and saw like the little poltergeist. um What are they called?

Speaker: Where they put dead people. Crypt. Oh, I was like, I don't know what you're trying to say. yeah We went and saw the the crypt that the poltergeist is said to inhabit. um We didn't experience anything ourselves, but.

Speaker: We did have, um there was this. couple there and they had a little dog and there is a dog and edinburgh i forget its name i think it's bobby I think, but, um,

Speaker: They have like a little statue of him in the cemetery and he has passed away, but he was like this well -loved and well -known dog out there. And this little dog kind of looked like Ken. And we're walking around kind of behind them. And we kept seeing the dog like.

Speaker: jump like something was like grabbing at it or punching it or like you know doing something to it that would make it like spin around and like look like something was getting it I don't know so Whether or not something was happening.

Speaker: i don't know but that was also a really um kind of sombering place it's really beautiful And a lot of people say that they experience things there. so That is interesting. I've had, so I...

Speaker: I am hoping I can find a picture of this because when you were talking about Muriel's New Orleans, it reminded me of going to the Lemp Mansion. And we, me and my friend went. just for dinner. And.

Speaker: We were like, okay, like. We would have loved to stay the night, but it was already booked out. And then um so we we just had dinner. And if you don't know, if the Limp Mansion is this old brewery in St. Louis that is super haunted. And it's like their family home. And um you could do ghost tours there. You could spend the night there.

Speaker: I think we've covered. dot yeah boookie Okay. I was like, I'm pretty sure we have. so We definitely have an episode on it.

Speaker: Yeah. So if you're wanting more of the history and stuff, go look at that. But I definitely have a picture of, we were in the bathroom and we were just like, because we had a few cocktails and we're in the bathroom, we're taking pictures and like we're going around to all the downstairs area taking pictures. And the bathroom used to be, I believe, an office. And the bathroom was so cool, super old and everything. And I was looking to see if I had pictures of it on my phone and I just need to keep looking. but

Speaker: We took a picture of like the bathroom stalls were weird because they were wooden. And then at the top of the bathroom stalls, it was like frosted glass. And we had we were the only ones in the bathroom and we had taken a picture and...

Speaker: And one of the pictures like. There was literally a face in the... frosted glass of the bathroom stall and we're like holy shit and we looked online at like the limp family and it looks just like one of the sons and It was so creepy. But I remember when we talked about the Limp Mansion, how...

Speaker: There were so many accounts of people that stayed the night there. that basically said there's like a peeping Tom ghost always in the bathroom. And that part made me crack up. Because I feel like...

Speaker: Don't be a pervert. that's Right. Don't be a pervert. They're like, I'm a ghost now. Now I can definitely be a pervert. man There was a lot of accounts of people being like, oh, I was in the shower or I was going to the bathroom. And there was always like a ghost peeking in on them.

Speaker: mm -hmm yeah and so the fact that this one was no And then whenever, so I've done a few ghost tours and not as many as I've wanted to do, but we've done, I've done some in York and in.

Speaker: Barry St. Edmunds and in Illinois. And I remember like walking through an alternate Illinois, two weird things happened to us while we were there. one of which I caught on camera and I'll see if also I can find a picture of it and post it on socials as well. But we were in, um because part of Illinois in this area, because it's so old, was involved with the...

Speaker: Underground Railroad I can't say that word. Apparently the R's. So many R's. So many R's. Anyway, we went to this old house and in the basement of the house, it was this huge like bricked out kind of false wall situation. And they put us all in there and they were telling us about like. This is...

Speaker: If you were trying to escape slavery, this is one of the safe houses and um they turned off all the lights and they're like, you know, this is said to be pretty haunted, but also just to give you a perspective of.

Speaker: how dark it would have been in this small place. And so like they turn off the lights and stuff. And then um when the lights were on though, I was just taking pictures. And in one of the pictures, I caught a...

Speaker: glowing orb just like fly across the screen and I'm like wow like that was crazy And then we also had another experience with that same ghost tour where we went into this church and the church was said to be haunted and the preacher or pastor. whatever his title was, he had died by suicide, but they didn't tell us that part yet. We just knew that the church was haunted and they were supposed to be like a demonic presence and whatever, whatever.

Speaker: They take us into this back room. And they're like, okay, we're not going to tell you anything about this room yet. Everybody just go into the room and stand where you feel the most comfortable. And I'm like standing like clear on the other side of the room.

Speaker: I went with Mike and his little sister. They were standing together underneath the ceiling fan. And the lady came in and she was just like, well. You know, I asked you guys to stand where you were comfortable. It's crazy that you two are standing right here underneath the ceiling fan. This is exactly where.

Speaker: That pastor. Died by suicide. And they're like, there's always like one or two people that are just drawn to right there. And they were the ones. I was cracking up. I'm just like, see, I was like. You're like, I'm going to be over here. No, I'm going to be over there. You guys have fun over there.

Speaker: And you're. Death spot. Yes. Yeah. And then like with the other ones, because like within. an um in York and in very St. Edmunds, like going on the ghost hunt.

Speaker: tours and stuff like we never caught anything but it was just the experience of walking at night and hearing the stories and listening to the history I think it was just that is worth it to me like going in with no expectations and just there to listen and see the history of the places I think is is just as like promising as if you were to capture something yeah And then the last one um that I definitely experienced something at was at Hampton Court Palace. and

Speaker: We went, so this is where Henry VIII lived with all of his wives. I just remember like, cause when you enter in, you're, you're starting the tour kind of, and it's like, a kind of a guided, like self -guided situation.

Speaker: And so. we're in there you go through the kitchens first and then there's um all of these storage rooms where they would store like food and wine and you know cheese and all sorts of stuff and then around the corner from that is like this long hallway that leads to...

Speaker: they're like the church inside the palace and I just had this overwhelming like anxiety. Like I felt like I was going to pass out. I felt so like just the immense dread. And I had no clue it was around the hallway. And it was like.

Speaker: going around that hallway, 1000 % was this like church area. And of course, like when I'm explaining it to Mike and he's like, well, of course you felt anxiety. There was a church nearby. And I'm like, no, but I didn't know there was a church nearby. And we caught like in that area, we were taking pictures and stuff of just like documenting the historical aspects of the palace. and yeah capturing so many orbs and whatnot in that same area. But then...

Speaker: We took pictures all over the palace and that was the only area where we actually caught. anything on camera, but that was also where I was like physically experiencing feelings of anxiety, feeling of dread. And I'm just like, I wonder if... Like. Historically, if something happened in that hallway I mean, the changes are large because it's an old ass palace.

Speaker: So just be open. Just be open. It's all I'll say.

Speaker: Outside of our experiences, though. For any of you guys wanting. to maybe attempt ghost hunting or you're curious about it.

Speaker: We're going to share some of our own. like tips, um equipment that we've used and just. Kind of like thoughts on the process itself.

Speaker: The first one is, is like as far as equipment goes, like your phone is going to be your best friend. I mean you don't need any sort of fancy ghost hunting kit. You don't need to spend a lot of money. really all you need is a camera like that's as far as the basics go a camera and it could be your phone it could be a dslr camera or any other camera it could be even one like a polaroid camera like whatever you want to use to document things like there's no right or wrong way in my opinion no There's not. And some people will like, I know.

Speaker: from just like research we've done, or just like if I'm looking into going somewhere haunted, you'll find people that say that you have to have this. particular type of recorder or this spirit box or this, you know, they'll they'll tell you what they use and say that you can't like. go out and find anything without those things. And that's absolutely not true. Yeah, 1000%. I have none of those things in my house. And I

Speaker: Have a ghost. Like... you know and we've caught like actual evidence that can't be debunked on yeah yeah anything yeah on just our phones so yeah like just if you If that's all you have is your phone and you're just getting into it, why not just start there? Yeah.

Speaker: And you can totally like spend all the money. Right, yeah. And you can use your phone too, a multi -tool, right? So taking videos, taking pictures, recording, like audio recordings and stuff for EVPs and whatnot. You could all use that on your phone or you could bring your own recording device. like Either way.

Speaker: And your phone also doubles as a flashlight. So there you go. Maybe bring a backup flashlight too. Yes and maybe a battery pack. Yeah. Yeah. Or just in case.

Speaker: If you've done any research into ghost hunting, you'll know that sometimes they like to drain your batteries. Yes. And also if you're taking lots of pictures and videos and whatnot, it will just naturally drain too. So you're going to want to be able to charge your phone.

Speaker: yes but yeah And then something too that I wanted to point out is that you can. Absolutely get EVP recorders pretty cheap online. i bought one I think for like $25 and it's just a little stick that has a little like thumb drive that I can plug into my computer. It charges like super quick and it was inexpensive.

Speaker: um I bought it when we lived in that house in Illinois. Yeah. All that weird shit happened. and it since Stuff disappeared all the time. yeah So you could do that. I mean, that's a really...

Speaker: economical way to do it because When you think about like EVP recorders and stuff and what you see on TV and stuff, you you know that they're not buying a $20 one off of Amazon. No. But...

Speaker: It doesn't have to be something expensive. No, because I've definitely, I use that in. that house and we definitely got some stuff. Because I would just, I would plug it in, charge it all the way and then just turn it on and let it do its thing while we weren't even home. Yeah. like what See what happens. Yeah, that is really cool.

Speaker: and Well, and then like we already mentioned ghost hunting apps. And so both Tiffany and I use GhostTube and it's a word generating app. And just because I will say this as a preface though.

Speaker: Just because you are getting words that come through on your word generating app doesn't necessarily mean that a spirit is communicating with you. So you need to use your own discernment. But it's still really fun and like a really cool thing to do. And sometimes we'll just turn it on while we're recording and yeah let it do its thing and see what happens. so I will say too, because it has like a... um kind of like little detection where it can detect.

Speaker: I don't know. Is it just like the elect? Electric. pulse or vibe or whatever. yeah uh because you know it'll go like red and green or whatever I will say with that too, if you are close to other electronics, like if you get too close, it's going to jump those pulses up anyways. Yeah. so like Again, use your own discernment there.

Speaker: If we both have kind of already touched on this, making sure that you go into these experiences with no expectations at all.

Speaker: Yes. One thousand percent. Yeah, definitely be curious. Don't assume a location is haunted and don't assume that it isn't either. Okay, Anthony, Michael. and Anthony, Michael. Anthony Michael was well surprised. Okay. yeah he but And don't decide what happened before you even investigated it, because that's another thing too, is like, if you're going in with preconceived notions on.

Speaker: this place is haunted and oh, I've caught this thing or I know I'm going to catch this thing. You're going to be super disappointed if you catch nothing. yeah and Don't look for a specific spirit because someone told you that a specific spirit haunts that location.

Speaker: Again, like going in with just. Okay, I understand the history. I know that people have seen things here. And if I see something, then that's great. but Don't go in there specifically looking for things and just let the experience happen. Let whatever happens to you happen.

Speaker: well, and I think too like This kind of goes back to the Eureka Springs thing. You know, we did that tour, the tour that everyone says, oh, all these crazy things. We did it and nothing crazy happened, but we were taking pictures the whole time too. And it wasn't until the next day where we were seeing things in places that we were in the photos where we were like, oh, was that? Oh my God, I didn't even see it. You know what I mean? So like.

Speaker: documenting is always really a really good thing to do. when you're doing these kinds of things, because you might not see something in the moment. um But it might. pick up on a camcorder or like video recorder or In photos, so.

Speaker: Yeah, that would be. Something I suggest. Yes. This one, I love that you included this because Like, not manufacturing the evidence.

Speaker: Sometimes a sound is just a sound. I've already said that sometimes, you know, light is just. a reflection of something or um It's just it's just a light. You know, there's nothing.

Speaker: um sinister or ghostly about it yeah and then shadows Shadows, I feel like, are the hardest thing when you're doing stuff like this because you're like, was that me? was that Did something just go by? Did I just see something?

Speaker: so And our eyes try to, especially if you're in dark places, try to make sense. Our brains and our eyes will will see things. Our brain tries to make sense of things. that may not be there. And so you have to...

Speaker: understand too that our brains sometimes you can't trust them either so For sure. Yeah. And also, I think this is important to talk about because Sometimes...

Speaker: I mean, we'll get into this in a little bit about like ghost hunting on TV versus like real life. but like Debunking is part of ghost hunting. And I remember whenever our ghost hunting on TV came out, I think it was ghost hunters that show where they went in as skeptics.

Speaker: to debunk things. Yeah. And I really like that because oftentimes it could be just a draft or it could be a reflective surface, like a window or a mirror yeah or like your phone light bouncing off of something that is giving you this false.

Speaker: Paranormal Reading Yeah. Well, this is something too. We.

Speaker: way back early in season one we used to say this thing when we would mess up or we'd be like erin is walking yeah and that came from ghost adventures because if they were recording and they were trying to capture something but erin would have to move from like one side of the room to the other and for those that have never watched it erin is one of the guys on the show yeah um they would say in the recorder erin is walking erin is walking Aaron is walking until he would get to where he was going so that they knew that there this is not a ghost.

Speaker: None of this sound can be used as a ghost because we're in shock over it. Yes. Yeah. Which I do like that. Yeah. There are things about that show are very problematic, but I still love it because it's an OG. Yes. Oh my God. I still watch it all the time. Me too.

Speaker: And then as you already mentioned too, with like with electrical equipment, even with the ghost app, but even like. Just in general, electrical equipment can... Give off.

Speaker: different readings that are, you know, because they talk about like with ghost hunting, the electrical the electromagnetic field is raised. That could be from electronics. So yeah you need to.

Speaker: have an understanding of where the electronics are in the place that you're trying to ghost hunt at to determine is this a spike in the electromagnetic field because a spirit is present or is there just a lot of electronics in this location. Yeah, yeah. And I feel like that's, you know.

Speaker: If you're trying to make something happen, that's usually where people are like, no, look, it's this thing. But it's like. If you have... 20 different electronics on doing different things there's likely to be some crossover and some like weird like Feed.

Speaker: going on between them so And you also need to pay attention to noise and light pollution in the area that you are investigating.

Speaker: Because that is a real thing, especially in today's society where we all live pretty close together. there may You may hear a car, you may hear a plane, you may hear people walking around and it may have nothing to do with what you're trying to capture, but it's coming through and it it is not a ghost. Or chickens next door. Yeah, or chickens next door. I thought somebody was literally screaming. I was like, did we just capture a ghost? And they're like, it's chickens. That's just the chickens. I really hope it comes through on the recording of this.

Speaker: Otherwise, they're like, what the hell are you talking about? There was screaming. Yeah. um And then, you know, insects and dust. I feel like.

Speaker: This is going back to kind of some of those OG ghost hunting shows where they would have a camera set up filming the area and they would have you know these weird dark lights. um like night vision type lights so everything's kind of like gray or greenish hue and you see these like little things floating around and they're like was that a ghost we just caught or was it a ball of dust Right. Was it a gnat? It was not a fly.

Speaker: Yeah. potentially who knows yeah yeah yeah so Yeah, and then... Looking at. Just if I mean, I assume if you're listening to this episode.

Speaker: and you're listening to the podcast in general, you are interested in witchy shit. What? what they're like this is a witchcraft podcast never mind

Speaker: But the importance of protection before and after, I think is a great idea. Even if you are not. Into witchcraft or paganism, some sort of protection before and after, I think is yeah very appropriate just because it's. You're dealing with energy at the end of the day.

Speaker: Mm -hmm. You know, you need to be grounding before you're entering. Do protective visualizations. Oh my God, those chickens are so loud. They are so cute. ah They're adorable, but can you be quiet?

Speaker: They're like, no, we're just going to be louder. Absolutely not. but yeah Our friend's girlfriend, when they came to visit, she has chickens and she was like, oh, that's the egg song. When your chickens lay an egg, that's their little like announcement. And I was like, aw.

Speaker: That's really cute.

Speaker: Clearly. Yeah, I love that. That's so cute. ah But going back to protection. Going back to the topic at hand. Wearing protective crystals or herbs, setting intentions, smoke cleansing before or after. um using protective jewelry, setting boundaries before you start, any of those things I think would be a great practice. Just pick what works best for you in that situation.

Speaker: feel like everyone should definitely have Like... know what your boundaries are when you're doing this kind of stuff And making sure that was Nike. If you heard that. Yeah. she She's all of nine pounds and she sounds like.

Speaker: a 90 pound dog when she jumps off of things. um But yeah, like set make sure you're setting those boundaries, knowing those boundaries, what they are before you even start.

Speaker: You also need to look at If you're ghost hunting, look at the practice of closing the door before you leave. And if you're approaching ghost hunting spiritually, what does ending an investigation look like? So it could be something as simple as thinking anything that communicated with you.

Speaker: stating clearly that the investigation is over and that you're leaving. and telling anything that's present that they cannot follow you and then do your cleansing. And don't like this is something that I was looking at online whenever I was looking for like speaking topics on this.

Speaker: Don't obsessively continue to communicate once you get home from an investigation or obsessively either try to communicate with what. you observed there or what you felt there.

Speaker: or looking into it further to try and... Yeah. Yes. Like I was reading on Reddit, like there are people who like say they've experienced something or they felt a connection with a presence at a location. They will continue to try to communicate with that presence when they go home. and I'm not trying to bring that shit home with me. You stay in your home. I came and visited your home.

Speaker: yeah I have not invited you to visit mine. Yes, you can see her I will be right here. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. yeah This was a great time, but now it's time for me to go home by myself.

Speaker: but Yes, please and thank you. I couldn't imagine being like, oh. Like with anything that happened at the prison, coming home and being like, are you here? No, sir. No. Don't be here.

Speaker: yeah and then the same token to don't take anything with you no like Just leave it there. Where it stays, it'll be fine. Have you, I haven't.

Speaker: Felt anything follow me home after um an investigation or a ghost hunting? Have you felt anything like that? No. I, like... We, you know, I've always had experiences in my own homes, but I don't think it's from.

Speaker: places that I've gone. Same. It feels like very different energies, I guess. Yes. Yeah, I agree. Is there any way I can describe that? I think we're both very sensitive to the paranormal in general. and Yeah.

Speaker: So yeah, I never, but I also think that our protection And our boundaries that we put in place before and after, I think is strong enough that nothing has tried to come back home with us. so And if it does, I'll fight it, okay? Look. um I'm not about fighting a ghost. Get out. Right. yeah I will. We will take care of it. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: But no, I don't think anything has ever... followed me home or good trying to attach itself, I don't think. yeah I feel like I would know. yeah I think you would know. Yeah. Yeah. yeah yeah Yeah. And anything that I've experienced like within my own home is a completely different energy.

Speaker: than what I've experienced. In haunted locations. I would say. Benjamin is probably the meanest one I've ever dealt with. And that's just because he calls me names. yeah but He is a brat. He is not very nice.

Speaker: No. There's also this... Belief like pervasive belief online and in. different communities when it comes to ghost hunting about how paranormal experiences are scary and that everything is quote unquote demonic. Thank you, Catholic Church. Yeah, thank you.

Speaker: Because that's not the case. That's not the case. No. Sometimes the spirit is just a spirit. Sometimes. It could even be a loved one, you know? Yeah. but yeah It doesn't have to be.

Speaker: Fucking Beelzebub from the depths of hell. Yes. And some things are just like residual. phenomena. And where that is an unexplained situation where energy is stuck in this loop in this particular. time. And the thing about humans is we don't really understand time. so Yeah.

Speaker: what you could be seeing or experiencing could be residual phenomenon and not any sort of intellectual haunting. And so. yeah And sometimes sometimes it's just a weird experience and you don't know what it is and you can't explain it.

Speaker: It doesn't mean that it's a demon. No. Well, and also along those lines, it also doesn't mean that it's ah a ghost or a spirit or right a haunted thing. like Exactly. It could just be something weird that you can't explain.

Speaker: It could be weird energy. Who knows? Now my favorite part, ghost hunting on TV. Yes. I love me a ghost hunting show no matter how cheesy it is. 1000%. It could be the cheesiest show on the fucking planet.

Speaker: AKA Ghost Adventures. I'm watching it over and over again, especially during this time of year. Hands down. Yes. Hands down. Thank you very much. Thank you. Give me more. Yeah.

Speaker: But oftentimes, because ghost hunting on TV is not real, and the sense that maybe in some situations they're haunting like actual locations that have been known to be haunted.

Speaker: That is the only real part about the show. Yep. Everything else you have to take with a grain of salt. there's I love how funny they are. They are funny. like The one where I forget what he asked, but he he asked the ghost a question and it's like your mom.

Speaker: do you i remember he say he wanted to hurt my mother yeah Yeah.

Speaker: yeah that was so funny that was so funny but everything is very like dramatic and night vision this and yelling and screaming yeah hey touch me did you hear that

Speaker: It's so funny. And it's like everything immediately is the ghost. The ghost is here! It yeah said that. I felt it. I heard it. Yes. And then, or like...

Speaker: Oh, yeah, we're just gonna, we're gonna lock Aaron in a fucking body bag. Aaron, get in the crossface. Yeah, get in the crossface. Aaron, that was like ah like a long -running joke every episode. It was like, Aaron, get in there. Yeah. It's like, I'm not doing that, dude.

Speaker: And then you have the dramatic reenactments, which are always like. over the fucking top yes and even like have you noticed too not even on ghost adventures but like any other paranormal show where people are talking about their paranormal experiences You're just like, yeah, right. I know you guys had to like.

Speaker: you know, embellish a little bit here. Yeah, for sure. tv worthy you can't tell me that that shit actually happened oh okay but it's still fun to watch Yeah, they are. They're so fun to watch. Anthony laughs because I'm just like, I'll put it on and I'll watch like five or six episodes on a Sunday morning yeah i think with my coffee. Yeah. He's like, oh my God. I'm like, this is amazing. and This is is perfect. Especially with the windows open too and a nice cool day. Crisp day like today. Love it. Yeah.

Speaker: They're honestly, they're my favorite. and like ghost hunters. Ghost Adventures. What was that other one? It was like my paranormal experience or something like that.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. ah There's like a handful of them that were like the OGs. They were the ones that like started it all for TV. I think one was Paranormal State with that one guy Ryan Newell or whatever. I used to watch that one too. What was the one from? He was from.

Speaker: He went to one of the California universities, like Berkeley maybe, and he started the Berkeley Paranormal Society, and they had their own show. I can't remember what that one was called, but that one was actually pretty good too.

Speaker: Yeah. It wasn't as dramatic as the... the others. It's crazy. And there's always escalation on those shows too, of like, everything is demonic. Everything is a demon. And it's like, no.

Speaker: Or. that ghost wanted to have sex with me and it's like no no baggins that ghost did not it Yeah. Get off the bed, bro. Didn't he lay on a bed with like a, they called it like ah a a siren ghost or something like that? She touched me!

Speaker: I have the most. I also so love, what is the equipment? It's like the the camera, but you can see like the stick figure of the ghost. And there was like one. episode on Ghost Adventures where they had that and it looked like the little stick figure was humping him from behind.

Speaker: ah I forget what those cameras are called. but If you want some good entertainment with like history, because they do talk about like the history of a lot of the haunted locations that they go into, you get the history and then you get entertainment with it.

Speaker: yeah and there's also like drama one of the i was it ghost hunters where it was like the cash changed all the time because there was like drama all the time I don't remember, but that probably sounds right. Yeah.

Speaker: But yeah, there's always drama. Yeah. but that's you know ghost hunting on tv it's fun yeah it's fun but it's fun and you get you get the story of the locations that is true yeah much different than actual ghost hunting which is If you were just documenting actual ghost hunting, what you would see is a very boring show of sitting and waiting for a long time. and The reviewing hours of footage and hundreds of photos and...

Speaker: Hearing weird noises and finding out, oh my god, it's a pipe. Actually, that was just the toilet upstairs running. yeah like Yeah. That's what real ghost hunting looks like. And every once in a while, you'll find some sort of evidence. But for the most part, you're probably going to find nothing. yeah And that's okay.

Speaker: So looking at... Looking at what actually counts as evidence. What would convince you if you were? Getting evidence from somebody, what would convince you of? Something being haunted.

Speaker: Like actual footage. Yeah. Whether that's... through video. or photos, but I feel like even today, right?

Speaker: Today, how many times do we watch a video and go, was this AI? Like, right? So like. I guess video doesn't really count. But before, with photos, we'd be like, this was Photoshopped. So I feel like it has to be a very... um I don't even know how you would say that it's a convincing photo or a convincing video. right um You have to really.

Speaker: Use your own discernment there. Make sure that you're not like. falling prey to. Someone being like. Look at this. cryptid i found and it's like a bigfoot in the middle of a photo kind of thing you know what i mean i like yeah It's much harder today. Yes, with all the advancements in AI, it makes it scary to where like... We don't even know sometimes if what we're looking at is real.

Speaker: I think for me, it's like I have to be the one that experienced it or I have to know the person. Like it would have to come from you, like Sam or Julia or, you know, like.

Speaker: people that I trust because. I feel like you can't trust to anything online anymore. No. Yeah. That was so ridiculous. And you would either have to... already trust that person yeah or be able to trust the emotions they experience as they're experiencing it to think like, oh my God, like this feels genuine, but yeah it's really hard now.

Speaker: Yeah, it really is. But I will say that I have gone to, you know, I mentioned it earlier. A lot of the locations that I have taken photos in, I have like photos that I was like, oh man, like.

Speaker: I think I got something. Like, I think this is actually something. Whereas like I've taken other photos and I'm like, oh, that just looks like a blur from white or, you know. So. Again, so not everything in a photo is going to be.

Speaker: a ghost too even if you're the one taking it and you're like there's a blur over here you know look at look at the surroundings of the photo and see if there it could be anything else yeah yeah What about you?

Speaker: Really that like. Like, I agree. I feel like I've gotten to a point where At this point in my life, I am such a skeptic, not that I don't believe it, but skeptic of other people just because you don't know what their motivation is for.

Speaker: saying xyz is haunted here's my proof so i would need to see it i would either need to trust them or It would have to be. repeated experiences, repeated activity that is well documented and debunked.

Speaker: So. When I think like. different people to like if it's just something that we're reading about online when we do research The ones that I like when I'm researching a location for like our spooky destination episodes is when people are sharing their own experiences there and you're seeing kind of patterns in people's stories.

Speaker: So it makes it where it's like that there could be something there then. So. I agree. Yeah. the rules yeah so i guess to close it out we have some final just rules for ghost hunting if that's something that you are interested in doing mm -hmm And so I think. Like the first one, respect the land, the dead, and don't trespass.

Speaker: Yeah. Don't be rude. Yeah. Be to the area. um don't take anything and don't vandalize things.

Speaker: Yes. Like it's one thing if you're on a walk in a forest and you pick up a rock or something, but don't go to. A known haunted location. Yeah, like the Crescent Hotel. Right. And take something from there. don't Just don't do that.

Speaker: No. And then don't provoke spirits for entertainment. Again, looking at you, ghost adventures. It's not very nice. No, we love you. Yeah. Don't do that. And don't disrespect graves either. Like, no, that is so rude.

Speaker: So rude. It is it's very rude. And don't make fun of their deaths either. I think to go along with a great or it does fuck with the At the end of the day, regardless of.

Speaker: who they were in their life, they still were a human being. so Well, and they still had families and friends and they were still someone's. you know son or daughter or mom or dad.

Speaker: And then lastly, remember that many haunted locations involve real human suffering. So like the prison where we went, looking at you know a lot of the places that we've experienced paranormal activity, a lot of human suffering.

Speaker: there' was a lot of muslim I mean, a lot of times for a location to hold. The energy that is considered like haunted or. um That ties, you know.

Speaker: people there after their deaths there has to be some form of tragedy yeah So. Just be mindful of that. yeah Mm hmm. It's not like, you know, you can have fun ghost hunting, but it's it's usually not fun situations that put people there. so Yeah.

Speaker: That put ghosts there, obviously, because they're a ghost. They have died. And so while this might be entertainment for you, go in with a semblance of respect. and Yeah. honor the the land and the the spirits that inhabit them or the ancestors that.

Speaker: lived there before. So. Yeah. But then then, you know, you can still have fun with it too. Yes. Do your research like we always say. And have fun.

Speaker: but be respectful.
