Allie Herman is the CEO of Dragonwing, a girls’ activewear company. Dragonwing was originally founded in North Carolina in 2013 as a base layer apparel brand for tween and teen girls. In 2022, Allie acquired the brand from its founder, and relaunched it in Denver, Colorado as a pure play activewear brand.
Dragonwing designs high-quality activewear that girls can wear all day, while at the same time allowing them to feel comfortable, confident, and fashionable. Because anyone can be active - everyone should be comfortable. Whether she’s at the dance studio or just hanging out with her friends, the Dragonwing girl feels secure in who she is and who she wants to be.
Allie has always had a passion for fashion and athletics. Her athletic journey began as a competitive swimmer at 5 years old and culminated as a varsity swimmer at the University of North Carolina. After retiring from competitive swimming, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in fashion, where she attended Parsons School of Design.
Following her time at Parsons, Allie has spent the last two decades working in children's activewear, and has worked for some of the most recognizable brands in the industry. Her career has given her knowledge that spans every aspect of the apparel business, from manufacturing, sourcing, design, merchandising and sales. Her comprehensive knowledge of the industry's intricacies enables her to guide Dragonwing with precision, ensuring the highest quality products are brought to market efficiently.
