Introduction and Podcast Theme

Speaker
Hey, guys. Hey, welcome to Bring Your Own, a catch-all bookish subscribe podcast. I'm Brandi. I'm Kendra. I'm Kayla. I was very Canadian, but I didn't bring your own. I just felt like I was like, in, in, in.

Announcing Bookish Game Night

00:00:24
Speaker
Today, we are so excited because we are having bookish game night where we are going to be playing three different little mini games
00:00:33
Speaker
with each other and you can play too. You should keep score for yourself at home and then hop over to our Instagram and let us know how you did when the episode is over because we just think it's gonna be so fun. So we're gonna do that. But before we do, what are we reading? What are we drinking? Oh my God, I'll go. So I'm still reading Last Call at the Local because this past week I went to go visit Kayla and I got zero reading done. So I'm still reading that book, but it's going,
00:01:01
Speaker
really well.

Current Reads Discussion

00:01:02
Speaker
And then today, thanks to Miss Brandi girl and Selena, honestly, I started butcher and oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. This is the first time here this this audio because I just started it like a few hours ago. This audio book is so good. It's so it's funny. And like this. Okay, so it this isn't a spoiler because it happens like relatively early but there's a moment when they're like eating in a diner.
00:01:27
Speaker
And just the quickness of their interaction was so... I was laughing. It's so good. And Joe Arden is probably the most unserious man to walk the earth because they did the introduction for the audiobook. And why was he already talking in the accent? Bro, it's the introduction. The accent's not needed. It's just a character. Method. Oh, my God. And then once the book got started, he should... Honestly, it sounds better than his normal voice. I don't know.
00:01:55
Speaker
Good. Lucy Rivers.

Audiobook Experience and Publishing Talk

00:02:00
Speaker
This just shows me that it really is just her doing her man voice that I can't stand because this audiobook, I already want to re-listen to it. I finished it yesterday morning and I already want to re-listen to it.
00:02:09
Speaker
It's good. I was trying to convince Kayla to get it. So maybe this will be the final. I will. Yeah, I have a lot in the backlog right now. It's just so unique. Like the fact that it's like a dark romantic comedy, like the fact that it's funny, but also so dark is like, oh, it's so good. It's good. Like it's very unique. And I think it's also really well written, which I don't know if that's like shame on me. Like I just wasn't expecting
00:02:35
Speaker
Me either. You just hear the concept and you're kind of like, oh. Yeah, you're like, OK, whatever. Is this book indie published, or is it traditionally published? I believe indie. OK.
00:02:49
Speaker
It wasn't on KU because I

Mixed Feelings on Recent Reads

00:02:50
Speaker
looked. I was like, maybe I can get it on KU real quick. I didn't see it. No. OK, I thought it was. I am also drinking Micheloboltro for the second episode in a row. You're such a beer girl. You're not like other girls. I'm not like.
00:03:06
Speaker
I will be reading that soon, I swear. I just have, there's another book that Kendra really, really wants me to read, that I pinky promised her I would read, so I have to read that one too. Yes. It is Sami Espinosa. It is Sami Espinosa. Okay, so I am currently listening to The Wake Up Call by Beth O'Leary. It's really, really cute. I'm actually really liking it so far. I've been listening to it for a really long time because yes, like Kendra said, I didn't get a ton of reading done when she was here, although I did actually finish.
00:03:36
Speaker
one book while she was here. What was the book? I did finish A Curse for True Love by Stephanie Garber and I do have mixed feelings on it but that's neither here nor there. For an entire night she sat on the couch and ignored me had football playing and was reading that book and I was just sitting there.
00:03:52
Speaker
like this for an entire night. We also did go do something else that night, but it's okay. It wasn't the whole night, but kind of like sleep. Um, so I'm, I'm listening to the wake up call by Beth O'Leary and I'm really, really liking it. Actually, Beth O'Leary wrote one of our favorite books last year. Um, the no show. And so I wanted to read her new release, which I think this came out in September.
00:04:17
Speaker
and yes so far so good about 70% through and then physically reading I'm not really like fully physically reading something I'm re-reading parts of love redesigned as we prep for something super special so that's currently what I'm sort of eyeball reading right now but and I'm I have a Dr. Pepper Zero tonight not Coke Zero but Dr.

Quote Guessing Game Begins

00:04:44
Speaker
Pepper Zero
00:04:45
Speaker
I love it, Dr. Pepper. Yeah, me too. Have you guys seen that TikTok that went a little bit viral? Because this girl was like, I know not everybody's a DP girly talking about Dr. Pepper, and all the book girlies have been running with it. Yeah. She walked right into that one, yeah. Yeah. I, like I said, just finished Butcher and Blackbird yesterday. And I loved it so much. I've been thinking about it. But then I started listening to The Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah McLean.
00:05:12
Speaker
She's a pretty big historical romance. Name is my first book by her and I'm enjoying it so far. I am like really deep in a physical reading slump.
00:05:23
Speaker
And I know that's just because like the school year is insane right now. So it's like hard to find time. Cause I'm, you know, when I'm listening to audio books, I'm doing other stuff like laundry or dishes or whatever. So it's just been hard to find time for physical reading, but I'm hoping to pick something up soon. And I am drinking a lemon, the cry per use. Love that. Shall we start? I'm going to like put some game music here.
00:05:54
Speaker
OK, like like Family Feels Hidden or something. What was the first like gay music that came to mind? Mine was The Price is Right.
00:06:06
Speaker
What? Mine was the John Cena song. Oh. They all have these very similar melodies, huh? Okay, so the first game that we are going to play is just like name that quote. So all three of us have pulled three quotes each from books that all of us have read. And I don't know about you guys, but I pulled books like that. I know we all enjoyed. Right.
00:06:35
Speaker
Oh, God. So we're going to take turns reading the quote. The other two are going to race to try and answer. Yeah. Are we keeping score?
00:06:45
Speaker
We'll try our best, but for those listening, you'll probably do a better job than us. Keep track of your own points. Everybody keep track of your own. That gives me anxiety. Whatever. Anyways, who wants to go first? I think we should say a rule that you have to let the person finish the entire quote before you give your answer. Don't interrupt. And you can say either the character, or the book, or both. I think if you say both, that's more street cred. Or who's POV or something.
00:07:14
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like I only have one easy one and the two other ones are like I Didn't want to make him too nice so that you guys wouldn't just be sitting here being like I don't know for like, you know Three minutes. I tried to do the same thing. I tried to do, you know middle of the road like not like super super obvious but like
00:07:34
Speaker
Who wants to go first? I'll say mine first. We'll just go one by one, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Randy and I are competing right to do it first. Yeah. OK. I feel like this is so easy. OK. I wanted to die. I loved him so much. I wanted to crawl inside of him and live there. I wanted to spend the rest of my life just being with him, adoring him, protecting him, living in all of his quiets, letting him touch me any way he wanted to as often as he wanted to. Is that Magnolia?
00:08:06
Speaker
All right, Kendra, your chance to steal. Is it part of your world? No. Is it Daisy? Free for all? No. Heart. HR? HR? No. I wanted to crawl into his skin. I wanted to die. I loved him so much. I wanted to crawl inside of him and live there. Is it Brianna? One of you was really. Lily. Brianna. Brianna, you're truly. Yeah, you're truly.
00:08:36
Speaker
Woo. Wow. Clap for yourself. Uh, okay. Kendra, since you got that one, right? Your turn. Okay. One point, Kendra. Do you guys want me to start with the easiest one? Sure. Go for it. Okay. I don't know.
00:08:53
Speaker
Best I can do is act like she means nothing to me. Pretty hard to do when she means it all. Oh my God. What is that? This is the easy one. Is it what? What'd you say? Is it BJ?
00:09:10
Speaker
Not B.J. Oh, it's Christian. Fuck. No. Oh, Julian. Yeah, it's at the same time. It's Julian hates from Daisy hates the great undoing. And we are recording this on his birthday. So we are. Oh, my God. You're so right. Love him. I want to watch his birthday. Wow. Oh, our Scorpios. Okay. I'm nervous.
00:09:41
Speaker
Okay. I took Susie outside, told her I was in love with the brunette who fell off her chair and then whacked her head off of mine, but that I hadn't even told her yet because I'm a dumbass. Then I said, you'd call me a twat waffle, not a dumbass. Is it Christian? No. Who is Susie? I will give you this hint. Sorry. I thought this one felt easy to me, but Susie is not involved. Susie doesn't matter. Right. I figured.
00:10:11
Speaker
But I'm trying to think like where like what book would I know that a twat waffle is this a contemporary romance? Yeah. Why would a fantasy say twat waffle? I don't know, Kendra. I don't know. I took Susie out to side told her I was in love with the brunette who fell off her chair and then whacked her head off of mine. The brunette who fell off her chair who's in love with a brunette that fell off her chair.
00:10:37
Speaker
So someone clumsy, bro, I don't know, you stumped us. You really did, okay, okay. Give us like a hint. Can you give us like a hint? It's a sports romance. Is it, is it, consider me?
00:10:50
Speaker
No. It's considered me. Yes, Kendra. Good job. That was Garrett. Do you remember she saw Garrett talking to another girl at dinner and she freaked out. She tried to get out of the restaurant. She fell off of her chair and then slammed her head against

Quote Game Reflections

00:11:06
Speaker
Garrett. Wait, so it's not considered me. You mean play with me? Play with me. Oh, fuck. Sorry. You got it right.
00:11:12
Speaker
No, I knew it was, I just like, I was like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So I was like clumsy. I feel like Becca Mack loves her clumsy. Yeah, she does. Yeah, that was scared about Jenny.
00:11:23
Speaker
Okay. I was close. I thought that doesn't count then since I said consider me. Okay. Okay. Okay. So after one round, Kendra has a point and then Brandy and I basically share half a point for getting Julianne at the same time. Okay. So second round, here we go. I modified this one a little bit because it says a name, so I took the name out. So you guys, because that would be way too obvious. Okay.
00:11:44
Speaker
I wasn't kind, not to many people, not to you. I wasn't sure if I wanted you or if I wanted you gone from my sight so that I would stop feeling as I did, which made me even more unkind. But when you were gone, truly gone beneath the waves, I hated myself as I had never before. Pardon. Oh, yes, yes, yes. Wait, wait, Brandi, Brandi, Brandi, for extra point, which book? You're so right. Good job. Good job. See, that's easy. Good job. Nice. Nicely done. Kendra, wow. Thank you.
00:12:13
Speaker
I think if we've learned anything from playing fantasy football together is that I am the sores winner. Yeah, I'm a hate survivor. Wow. So this one I feel like will be
00:12:32
Speaker
hard. I also had to remove a name because then it would have been really obvious. Okay, here we go. I wonder what it would have been like if I could have picked something else if I could have somehow picked redacted. If I could have had her in my life all along. Oh my god. All along? Does this mean it's like is this like a second chance romance then? Maybe? I don't know. I have no idea.
00:13:00
Speaker
I don't know. Should we ask for a hint? Can we have a hint, Brandy? Yeah, Kendra, can we have a hint? I feel like once I say the hint that I want, it'll be so obvious, but it's okay. It's a book that one of you liked and one of you didn't. Oh, is it Georgie? Yeah. Oh my god. Kayla Ann is a fake fan. Oh my god. Wow. That's actually a shocker that you
00:13:26
Speaker
The redacted is if I could have somehow picked Georgie.

Obscure Character Clue Game

00:13:30
Speaker
Oh my god, I'm so dumb. Oh my god. In the end, he says if I, what did he say? He said, if I could have had her in my life all along. So I thought the all along. Wow. I'm literally the fakest fan. That's so funny.
00:13:45
Speaker
I love that Brandy ended up getting it. That's insane. Okay. Wow. My next one's kind of dirty. There's two people talking back and forth.
00:14:01
Speaker
okay so do we have to say both well i guess we can just say the book and then it would be yeah easy okay i got it i feel like this is gonna be so easy i want to be inside you i said just a little just to feel it oh god she reads these it's all i've thought about since we've met you have to hold really really still i want her will you behave um that's you said easy i say hard um that's crazy because like this scene just like lives in my brain
00:14:29
Speaker
Is this a part of a series? Mm hmm. Is it the right move? No. Is it? Oh, my God. Who likes the series more, me or Kayla? If I had to pick you, Kendra, but this is a B.Y.O. series. Is it redeemed? No.
00:14:54
Speaker
Let me let me let me highlight a part for you that might make it feel more obvious. I want to be inside of you just a little. Just to feel it. Oh, just the tip. Yeah, right. Just because it because. Is it is it. I will say this is not our favorite book from this series. Hmm. You said that I like it a little more than Kayla. If I had to pick, yeah.
00:15:23
Speaker
Is it? No, I don't know. Flawless. I'll be wrong. I read this series because of Kendra. Is it? Is it? Is it Lizzie Blake? No. Oh, my. It's not. No. Plus one. No. Should I just tell you guys? Yeah, I just tell us. Oh, my God. Greased. It's what? Just the tipsy and greased. Oh. Oh. Oof.
00:15:50
Speaker
You know, like Sierra, Simone, I too often forget about that book in that series. That's crazy. That scene, oh my God, you guys, I reread that scene all the time. That was hard. I feel like when somebody says just the tip, I immediately think of that series. Really? What book do you think of that as just the tip? I don't think I think of a book. Me neither. What? Me neither.
00:16:20
Speaker
uh okay all right last round this one this one is i feel like easy okay it makes me think of her in a way that's stupid and i'd rather i didn't longing for a life i've never longed for till now barless windows easy breaths skies that break your heart i look at it and all i see is aimless walks down cobblestone streets in an old french village with nothing but her in my hands and i hate the thought because it's not just a thought it's a tease loving her is a tease
00:16:50
Speaker
Oh, it's a Christian. No, fuck, who is it? Is it Julian? Yes, it's Julian. Because I knew the loving her is a tease that had to come from either of their mouths. Yeah. Which book?
00:17:06
Speaker
um great in doing yeah what the fuck he doesn't say anything well all right i know uh we're clearly obsessed with that man i'm at a disadvantage when you guys pull quotes from that book because i can't bring myself to look at it okay so this is my final one i don't think you guys are gonna get this one but this is one of my favorite quotes of the year year okay so it's a book she's read this year yes a book i've read this year so that's already a hint for you
00:17:34
Speaker
Oh my god. I like smile when I see it. You are the love of my life. You made me believe in the concept of having a love of my life. Oh my god. No, I know this. Am I allowed to look at my Goodreads? I'm going to go through my books. Is it the summer we fell? No. That's a good guess. That would be something they would say, yeah. Yeah. You again? No, Brandy hasn't read that. Never mind. Um, the seven year slip? No. Can you give us a hint?
00:18:03
Speaker
yeah it will most likely be in my top 10 books of the year top 10 books of the year that summer feeling brandy already no no no no not that summer feeling i got the summer so much summer yeah it is it is a book that i read in the summer well they are won't they i literally yes yes oh yeah um well they're won't they and it's said by shane
00:18:31
Speaker
Oh, okay, I kind of, yeah. See like, once you like attach it to the picture, you're like, oh yeah, of course, of course. I love that band. Okay, this one, my last one, is like one that I would be able to pick out of a hundred lineup of quotes. I hope that you guys know it, but I won't be surprised if you don't get it. Wanted to spend New Year's together twice, make up for the ones that we didn't. Christian, mm-mm. Daisy, mm-mm.
00:19:01
Speaker
Because I was thinking as they spent New Year's. Yeah, it was a good make up for the ones that we didn't want to spend together twice. Make up for the ones that we didn't. Is it a part of a series? No. Oh, no. Did you read it this year? No. Oh, we read it this year. I love this book more than you guys do.
00:19:26
Speaker
Oh, interesting. Okay. Alone with you in the ether. No, Kendra hasn't read that one yet either. Yeah. I wanted to spend New Year's with you twice. Do you want a hint? Yeah. The reason that they're spending New Year's together twice is because they're in different time zones. Oh my God. This is like one of my favorite moments from this book. Time zones. So this is like a long distance thing. Do I physically own this book? No. But I have read it.
00:19:56
Speaker
Yes. They're on the phone for New Year's. They hang up. Calls are two hours later. Bro, I feel like I know this. The minute you say it, I'm going to be like, oh, of course. Because that sounds familiar. But who is it from? Oh, my god. I don't know. Do you want me to give you one more hint? Yeah, one more, one more. I'm going to give you two of the tropes. Single dad, fake dating. Single dad, and fake dating. Oh, my god, you guys. Oh, no.
00:20:26
Speaker
i don't know brandy i'm so sorry this is not a reflection of you it's funny okay no i said funny i just said it okay holy crap he's an ohio with his parents and he calls her that was a good scene that was a really good scene yeah damn
00:20:48
Speaker
I have a harder time committing stuff to memory audio. Yeah. That's exactly. Yeah. Damn. So it was hard, you guys. That was hard. I had so funny. We were all like, this could be so easy. And then no hard. I only got like two or like one and a half points, I think.

Trope Generator Challenge

00:21:06
Speaker
For the next game, we are going to do like our version of Guess Who. We're going to give three to four clues, like oddly obscure clues of characters. And then the other two people have to guess who we're talking about. So I won't give like, at least for my clues, I'm not giving like, oh, he's like, I'm trying to be as obscure and a little bit funny as I can. I can go first. Okay. Okay.
00:21:31
Speaker
they would be flown out, or in the words of Carisha herself, flew out by a future himself if he saw her dance in a club, takes the phrase on God, literally, and can probably fuck up a mill from Chick-fil-A. That, I'm just assuming, has nothing to do with the book. You guys are so close, but it's not their book.
00:21:55
Speaker
Remember I said, uh, would be flown out if future himself saw her dance in a club. Oh, oh, poppy and, uh, poppy, poppy, poppy. Yeah. It was poppy. That's what it takes. So it takes the takes. Literally. All right. I'll go stoic, but funny loves to travel and would wear khakis to the function.
00:22:23
Speaker
Meyer? No. Stoic but funny. What was the second one? Loves to travel. Who's stoic but funny and loves to travel? Would wear khakis to the function. Is this a male? Yeah. Is it Drake from State Farm?
00:22:49
Speaker
Somebody should write him a romance book though. Oh, is this a book you read this year? No. Is it part of the series? No, no. Is he in a smutty book? No. Oh, is it is it is it Alex Nielsen? Yeah, it is. Yeah. Good job. Good job.
00:23:15
Speaker
Mine would make out with their partner in public in an airport, would only wear flannel for the irony, and this one hopefully gives it away, is a proud New York resident. Nora Stevens. Yes. The minute you said would make out, I was like, oh my God, that airport, oh my God. Yes. What little slip eggs. Yes, love that.
00:23:40
Speaker
Um, okay. So for this one, I will accept two answers because when I wrote this out, I realized that I was describing two separate people, but the same thing. Blonde, an excellent father, not from this country. And again, I'm assuming would probably allow you to put your finger in their ass, but not like Leonardo DiCaprio. Wait, who'd y'all say? I said Garrett. I said Jonah cause he's technically, technically Norwegian.
00:24:09
Speaker
Okay, he's definitely born in the USA, but it's okay. Well, I don't still. All right, you're so right. Blonde, not from this country, an excellent father, and would allow you to probably put your finger in his ass. Not Lizzie Blake. Rake. Rake, oh. Okay, yes, Rake. And there's one more. And Brandy, it's one of your favorite books of the year. We had this author on our podcast.
00:24:38
Speaker
Bow. Bow would take a finger up the ass. You're so right. They're literally the same. Not from this country. He's Canadian. And Rekha's Australian. You guys are good. OK. Next one. Probably has a coffee stain on her sweatshirt. Always puts herself last. And has probably forgotten to pick up her daughter from school at least once.
00:25:07
Speaker
Not because she's a bad mom. So she's a mom. Is she a single mom when we meet her? Uh-huh. Oh my god. She's staying on her shirt. Wait, what was the second one? Always puts herself last. Why can't I think of her name? Say the book. Is it Juniper Hill Girl? No.
00:25:30
Speaker
Girls whose name I can't remember? Memphis. Memphis, thank you. Single mom. Yeah, and probably has forgotten too. Maybe probably hasn't forgotten to pick her kid up, but probably has forgotten to drop off cupcakes that she was supposed to make for a school function or something. Oh my god, why can't I think? Hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:25:50
Speaker
Is it, is it, is it winter? The soulmate equation. The soulmate equation. Oh yeah. That's a good one. Jess Davis. Good job. That's a, yeah, that was a good one. All right. And my last one. Yeah. I think you guys look at this really quickly. Okay. Um, is no stranger to blow jobs under desks, likes their women a little inexperienced and he's a local man.
00:26:18
Speaker
Oh, Sean Bell. Yeah. Oh, fuck. The minute you said local man, I was like, yeah, yeah. And that's true. He did used to, he, I mean, he probably still gets it for being honest. Yeah. Wow. She's just run their nonprofit these days. Yeah. Kayla, do you want to explain our last game? Absolutely. So we decided to do like a little,
00:26:44
Speaker
trope generator situation where you put a bunch of tropes in a randomizer and it's going to throw out two tropes and whoever names a book first with those two specific tropes gets a point, points that we're not really keeping track of. The bragging rights, right? I feel like I'm going to be very bad at this, but
00:27:08
Speaker
We'll see. Brandy's got the generator up. So, OK. The first one is age gap. The second is friends to lovers. Oh, I got one. Oh, go ahead. You win feelings.

Discussing Book Tropes

00:27:24
Speaker
Oh, yeah. It was on the brain. That's an easy one. OK. That's a good one. OK. Next one. Taboo. Enemies to lovers.
00:27:36
Speaker
Oh, um, um, uh, I think I don't read it. When I, when I heard tape, when I heard taboo, my mind went straight to fallen men. Me too. None of them are really enemies to lovers. Yeah. It's more like parent, parent guardian lovers. Um, I don't have boo. No, I don't read that many taboo romances taboo. Oh, oh, um, um, um, um,
00:28:06
Speaker
Eyes on Me by Sarah Kate. I was going to say any Sarah Kate book, but I can't technically count those, so. Yeah, it's step-siblings that hate each other. Oh. So it's pretty taboo. Yeah. All right, next. Again, enemies slash nemesis to lovers and workplace. Can we do, like, rival? Oh, workplace? Ben and Gemma. Oh, yeah. I was going to say earlier one day, too. They don't start as enemies. You guys are good at this. I, like, take a minute.
00:28:36
Speaker
Okay, yeah, it was a good one. The double you know. Yes, the double you know. I didn't say that, yes, thank you. Friends to lovers. Okay. Cinnamon Roll MC. Oh, people. Mm, good. I was gonna say yours, really. That's good. Oh, yeah. Oh, People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. Full title. And period. Okay. Breeding Kink. Cinnamon Roll MC. Oh.
00:29:07
Speaker
Well, in my mind, they all have breeding kings. Right. I mean, can we say, right? Oh, oh, yes. Yes. But if you go ahead, Kendra, in love and other words, when Elliot in the in the bonus epilogue wrote when they're fucking like a baby. Yeah. Yeah. I forgot about that. It's a good epilogue. The air is starting to feel like I need to reread.
00:29:36
Speaker
It's fall. I read it for the first time in November two years ago. I can't believe that. There you go. Okay, next. Accidental pregnancy, second chance.
00:29:47
Speaker
Theo and Winter, do they count? I don't know if that's necessarily second chance. I was going to say the same thing. We'll count it, but let's see if we can name another one, too. Well, you guys haven't read this one. But the best thing by Mariana Zapata is like secret child, accidental pregnancy, and second chance. All right. Should we do three more? Yeah. Sure. OK. Brothers best friend slash best friend's brother and age gap.

Oh, oh, fuck. I just read something into the tide. Oh, are they age gap? Oh, oh, I think they're age gap. Sinner. Oh, that one too. Duh. Okay. Friends to lovers. Sports romance. Oh, play with me. Oh, Randy has a very slight advantage because she sees them like a second before we do, but
00:30:44
Speaker
Good job, Randy. I'm saying them so fast. OK, last one. OK. Yeah. Taboo, billionaire.
00:30:53
Speaker
I think this is too easy. Does Sinner count? Well, he's not a billionaire. He's a millionaire. That's hard. What were you thinking of, Brandy? Same thing, though. He's a millionaire. I was thinking of a Sarah Kate book. High spitter. That's hard. Spin again. OK. Do again. Deal. OK. Workplace. Mm hmm.
00:31:15
Speaker
small town. Oh, um, there's not a lot of workplace. Oh, uh, can we say flawless because it's, she's having like a PR firm. I take it. Oh, would it be? Oh no, that's not a small town. Nevermind. Oh, like the entire gold rush range series. Oh yeah. You're so right. I LC silver. All of them work near or on a horse racing farm.
00:31:41
Speaker
I think sometimes, when you think of a workplace romance book though, do you think of they have to work together? They have to work in the same place together. Not all of them in the Gold Rush Ranch series do. Sure, off to the races though. They do. Yeah, off to the races. Wait, what was the, it was workplace and what else? Small town, small town. Could we say Love Redesigned by Lauren Asher? Yeah, I think so. I think we can. Yeah.

What a good segue I had. That was my plan. If you know what our points are, please let us know because we weren't keeping track. But what a perfect segue Kendra to set up for us to let you guys know that we have a very special guest on the pod next week. And we would love it if you tune in. If you're curious about, you know, a new series.
00:32:32
Speaker
about billionaires. An author who writes such a diverse group of characters coming from all walks of life. Someone we've talked about on the pod a lot. Yeah. Who we're low-key kind of obsessed with. Who we love. That's just a little tease. I feel like it's just so obvious who we're talking about, but just in case we're not being obvious, we won't say their name, but definitely tune in because it'll be a great conversation.
00:33:00
Speaker
We have a lot of fun little things planned for that episode. I'm very, very excited. Yay!

I love this game and I think I would love to do this again as well. It was surprisingly kind of difficult. It was a little difficult. Yeah, it was hard. It was hard. Now I know like when we play again, like, because I was so scared that the coats I was choosing were like so obvious. Now I know like exactly where the sweet spot is. But they made me think and then like again, like you said, like once you know who it is, you're like, oh,
00:33:30
Speaker
Oh, and if you guys want a fun game to play and like your group chats or anything, we always do this thing called quote roulette where.
00:33:41
Speaker
It mainly works once you've read a book on Kindle. All three of you. Whoever in your group, I'll have to have read the book. And then you randomly scroll through your highlights, and you just send one. You take turns, and it's so much fun. We do it all the time, randomly with Magnolia Parks. I don't know why, because you just need the clothing on. But I think that's one of the challenges the most. It just hurts our feelings. We'll just be having a normal day. And it's like, here's a quote. You guys want to play highlight roulette real quick? Yeah.
00:34:09
Speaker
So that's a fun game to play if you haven't already. Yeah. And it's also just fun to see what people like highlight. Like sometimes it can just be something super, super random. Yeah. Like moments that maybe just you laugh, but then you get to revisit it with your friends. It's so fun. Yeah.
