Speaker: Hey there, Nick here at Human Restoration Project. Earlier this summer, we released audio narrations of pieces from our upcoming progressive education primer, the opening essay, We Are World Builders, and Teaching in the Wreckage of the Real.

Speaker: And you can find both of them on this podcast feed. But these two upcoming episodes are special. The next episode after this one will be episode 200, and it'll be a listener-guided look back through our archives going way back to the before times of 2018. If you want to share an episode that was particularly special or important to you, send the name of the episode with a description of what it meant to you to nick at humanrestorationproject.org, and I'll read your name and description on air and play highlights from that episode.

Speaker: Today, we're presenting original poems written and read by Cassie Nastassi, HRP's Third Coast Learning Collaborative Coordinator, that she wrote for our primer and for which she also created the incredible cover art collage.

Speaker: This first one is titled To Learn Is To Be, and you can find a link to it in the show notes.

Speaker: Open your eyes, plant two feet on the ground, and all that you do, learning is found. Limitless pathways infinitely evolving, a challenge that calls you with a need for resolving.

Speaker: Experience awaits you at the edge of a choice. Let the heart guide you, follow its voice. To learn is to be not confined to one space, beyond a single classroom always finding a place.

Speaker: To learn is to be consistently deployed, finding yourself in the things you enjoy. A seeker, a dreamer, an artist, a keeper, a grounded purpose promotes learning that's deeper.

Speaker: Driven by choice, no universal prescription, better defined with individual description. Assessing yourself, it does not have to match a prepackaged benchmark that you did not hatch.

Speaker: Dulled down when siloed or attached to control, reborn in acceptance of what naturally pulls. To learn is to be fluid and reflective, iterating and refining based on new perspective.

Speaker: Redefined rituals, a boundary in question, gifts found in failure, although not the intention. Follow the threads to the emotions inside, the body may answer why a feeling resides.

Speaker: There's a beauty in pain, we can learn something new, mending and restoring when reparations are due. An infant, a child, a sibling, a friend, a parent, a neighbor, an identity blend, zooming out to collaborate, gaining insight from others,

Speaker: Community inspired, new systems discovered. Converging constellations shaped by the stars. Lessons of the past tell stories of who we are.

Speaker: Ahead and behind, all around and within you. At the light of each morning, our learning continues. To learn is to be. It's an offer of connection.

Speaker: Humans evolving and adjusting directions. A critical hope, depositing donations to build better worlds for future generations. Zoom back in to examine the parts that you play.

Speaker: How have you changed? Who are you today? To learn is to be a shared truth to uncover. Humanize learning to find ourselves in one another.

Speaker: This last poem is titled World Builders, and it serves as the closing meditation from our primer. As a reminder, you can find all of our writing, podcasts, and school-based work at humanrestorationproject.org.

Speaker: And with that, I'll let Cassie have the last word.

Speaker: Infinite hearts all calling, whispers in the wind. Rhythmic chirps in the evening, raindrops on bare skin. Crashing like waves at high tide, retreat in the name of the moon.

Speaker: Breathing in a shared sigh, the sun sets to rise again soon. Soft, blinking, fluttering lights glow across the field.

Speaker: A signal to lovers, a light like no other, wealth found in natural yield. A tiny daughter dances with sisters in a hive. Messages sent through movement on a floor of combs with six sides.

Speaker: Organized familial occurrences travel north in tandem at spring. Truth residing, internally guiding, the journey of hooves, fins, and wings.

Speaker: A vibrant and colorful colony, submerged in warm waters offshore, together all living, sharing and giving in aqueous gardens galore.

Speaker: Leaves released from service, preparation for hostile weather, patterns will guide, fight, flee or hide, reliance required to measure. Inherent and unspoken, a system unbroken, offering lessons at spiraling scales.

Speaker: Hierarchy unsuitable, connection that's dutiful, synchronized knowing prevails. Subtle reminders to the keepers and finders, something we failed to consider.

Speaker: Accessible and visible, unplugged and transmissible, blueprints are made for world builders.

Speaker: Thanks again for listening. If you want to learn more about how schools are using Polaris to put student voice front and center, visit polariseducation.ai and sign up for the newsletter to stay up to date.
