Join Matt and Jake to discuss the high's of Chelsea's season so far and the dangers that lie ahead in Brighton.

After Chelsea's strong wins of 3-0 against West Ham, and 5-0 against Barrow; what do the Blues need the change, if anything, to compete with Brighton?

Will Jackson continue his rich scoring form or will Chelsea turn to another prolific striker?

Hello and welcome to the Daily Chelsea brought to you by the Global Sports Podcast Network. I'm your host Matt Blagdon and I'm joined today by Jake Chandler. Jake, how are you doing today?

Chelsea's League Cup Triumph

00:00:20
Jake
Not too bad, maybe not too bad after a little outing this week. We so saw one or two goals, didn't we?
00:00:24
officialgspn
I know, it was very good.
00:00:26
Jake
One or two.
00:00:28
officialgspn
If you missed us everyone, we were at the Barrow game in the League Cup with the spectacular 5-0 win. Under the lights, always a special occasion at Chelsea and great to see yeah the boys in blue run riots albeit at a league two club we won't get too many hopes up although mudrick did give an assist so maybe he's on the up maybe his resurgence is coming what do you think about that jake oh is that like yeah 120 million is that like yeah
00:00:53
Jake
Oh, he wasted double his price tag, didn't he? With that, it was against Barrow. Double his price tag from 1 to 3 million, yeah.
00:01:01
officialgspn
yeah
00:01:02
Jake
and

Premier League Reflections

00:01:03
officialgspn
oh um um today is forecast Friday after all everyone thank you so much for joining us we're it's it's a week against Brighton and that's the weekend game for us tough game tough game Jake uh yeah we're going to chat in to a little bit of the fixture of the the history of the fixture and change to the Brighton and what we think is going to happen this weekend but before we get into that Jake I think it's good to just reminisce on the start of the season so far Chelsea's form after five Games in the prem. We've won three, we've drawn one, we've lost one.
00:01:36
officialgspn
So pretty good, we've got 10 points. Compared that to last season, we had five points at this stage of the season under Pochettino. So massive improvement.

Season Expectations and Manager Praise

00:01:45
officialgspn
And I think just shows how crucial it is to get a win in these games.
00:01:50
officialgspn
It is such a big boost compared to a solid draw and obviously a loss. The loss came to Man City, so kind of expected.
00:01:54
Jake
you
00:01:57
officialgspn
And the first game of the season, we really didn't have any kind of roots under Enzo's new system. disappointing draw against Palace. But the three wins away from home have been absolutely spectacular, Jake. Before the season started, did you think we'd be in this position? And if not, what's been the biggest surprise?
00:02:18
Jake
I actually did expect us to be in this position.
00:02:21
officialgspn
Okay.
00:02:21
Jake
odd not not Not necessarily this position exactly, but I thought we were going to start well i like i think I think we are going to do well this season. I'm really, really liking what I'm seeing from Oresco, what I'm seeing from the players.
00:02:32
officialgspn
Mm. Massive.
00:02:34
Jake
and and i think like i was watching the overlap the other ah i yesterday the new one they even like a lot upon it to start to change their minds and they're like no i think i think jelsey can bridge now it's like it's it's it's a credit to maresca i think because he's put this sort of identity and system in really early and we're showing all of the
00:02:42
officialgspn
Yeah. yeah
00:02:53
Jake
that they're still like there's still drawbacks to to how we're playing and how we play and but that has shown itself a little bit so far but all the benefits of the system and the identity already we're getting and I think that's that's but massive credit to Maresca and it's put us fifth on 10 points from from five games in a game that included Manchester City.

Current Form and Upcoming Challenges

00:03:14
Jake
So we're doing all right. And, you know, we were a point behind Arsenal who finished second last season with two points behind Villa and Liverpool, you know, who've also had, you know, their own tough games.
00:03:24
Jake
But, know, Liverpool were only taken, for example, because they lost the forest. Like we are in a bit of that league where everyone can sort of beat everyone. And I think we've done well so far, especially you get the way to West Ham.
00:03:32
officialgspn
yeah Absolutely.
00:03:35
Jake
I think that was probably a fixture that we were looking at and thinking, point maybe we're happy with a point to go there and get a point. But we you know we sort of we won that with ease, I would say, with ease. you know they not Not to say that we know we were absolutely incredible in that game. I think that was more down to West Ham not being that good. But in every other game we've faced, the opposition has been really, really competitive. And we've come out, you know as I said, 10.5 games. I think we've done well.
00:04:01
officialgspn
Yeah, absolutely. I couldn't agree more, Jake. And that's just a feel-good factor again about Chelsea. Over the last two seasons, this it's almost been a pill of depression supporting Chelsea. Just the amount of, oh, what's going on now? Or this guy's not performing? Or what's the situation happening?
00:04:17
officialgspn
It seems like ever since the takeover from Roman, we're finally getting that stability and the board have their man under Enzo Maresca to really steer the ship with the

Impact of New Signings

00:04:27
officialgspn
players. And I think as well, just a note on Jael Felix and Sancho, obviously big signings that we've made this summer, more controversially with Sancho obviously coming from United, but Sancho, he's got two assists in two games in the prem, which is a fantastic start. And for about 20 mil, with then five mil add-ons, looks to be a bit of a bargain signing if he continues this. And then Jael Felix, you know, getting an assist and albeit a goal, well, not a goal, it's he hit the post with his free kick and it came off the keeper, so unfortunately they didn't give it to him. But solid performance against Barrow in the League Cup.
00:05:05
officialgspn
I think for both of those players, Jake, Chelsea almost giving them a chance to research their career. With Sancho, he started fantastically with City and then Borussia Dortmund, pretty much failed at United and has come under a lot of Criticism and then Jael Felix, amazing for Ben Fica to then go to Athletic Madrid and then kind of struggle in a couple of clubs, including Chelsea and Barcelona to find their form. Do you think that's part of why Chelsea are so successful right now is that we've got players like that that really see this as a huge chance to progress with their career?

Versatile Attack Strategy

00:05:45
Jake
Yeah, i'm I was thinking about this the other day and there's like a little bit of like, a ah ah is it a metaphor for it? And I think it's it it's sort of like we've got a Swiss army knife, but rama than rather than having one player who's the Swiss army knife, we have.
00:05:57
officialgspn
Oh, yeah.
00:05:57
Jake
every little knife from the Swiss army knife in our attack. You understand what I mean? Like, it's like we've we've got everyone who can do everything.
00:06:01
officialgspn
Yeah. Yeah.
00:06:05
Jake
Like if there's an attacking task, we have a and we have a player for it. And that's really showed us to show it itself this season.
00:06:09
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:06:12
Jake
And I think the only game we weren't really didn't really have the benefit of that was against City because obviously c o two a couple of them were just like a bit too new in terms of signing.
00:06:16
officialgspn
Hmm.
00:06:20
Jake
And I think we probably could have got a bit more out of the City game if we were in the same sort of situation. But like, I think the first game where we really saw it was against walls. Like we, we, they came on, it was, what was it?
00:06:29
officialgspn
Yeah, absolutely.
00:06:31
Jake
Two nil before Jean Felix. And, you know, uh, before you sort of made two or three changes in the attacking line up. and And, and then we absolutely, you know, sort of blew them away. It was, it was. It's so um refreshing to have that sort of attacking depth on your bench. And we could really have like, not like I touch wood somewhere, but I don't, if it had like one or two injuries in the in our attack.
00:06:56
Jake
they can be replaced like quite easily with similar and great quality.
00:06:58
officialgspn
yeah
00:07:01
Jake
And yeah, that's that's massive for us. that's We've not had that in a while, plus the fact, not just those players as well, plus the fact that Jackson's been firing. um you know is It's very simple in terms of stats, we're second highest scoring team in the league because of all of these, because of all because of all these, everything we just spoke about, yeah.
00:07:14
officialgspn
Yeah.

Jackson's Form and System Credit

00:07:21
officialgspn
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, that is, it's almost like we've gone through three seasons of change in in one summer. It's all happened so quickly and almost slightly unnerving for Chelsea fans that, oh, this this happy feeling, this good feeling. I haven't felt this in a while. I'm not sure whether this is real, you know, pinch me.
00:07:39
officialgspn
but absolutely right. I mean, Jackson's on fire. In the first five games of this the season, he's got four goals and two assists. So Red Hot Forum, much, much better start from um last season. And that's probably a lot down to Enzo Marusco, like we've said. He's been really direct with implementing his his system. And because of that, the the players individually know what they need to do. And I think for someone like Jackson, that's exactly what he needs. He just needs clear direction. He works a lot more for instinct. And because of that, you know he's got the players around him to to get him in the right positions, to give him the ball in the right positions. And then he just you know kicks in the back of the net, simple eyes, as easy as it's been for some of his goals, and most noticeably against Palace.

Break and Teaser

00:08:23
officialgspn
But Chelsea, we've had an incredible start to the season, but our next challenge is Brighton. More on them after this break.
00:09:19
officialgspn
Welcome back to Daily Chelsea, you're with Jack and myself, Matt.

Rivalry with Brighton

00:09:23
officialgspn
We're talking all things Brighton ahead of this weekend's fixture, and we're now just going to focus on the history of the fixture, the rivalry, and how Brighton have changed since last summer and moving their managers around and getting rid of deserby. Jake,
00:09:37
officialgspn
We've played in the last 10 games, Chelsea have won four, drawn four and lost twice to Brighton. So we've currently got slight edge over them in terms of those stats, albeit there was some bad losses like the 4-1 win two seasons ago when we had Graham Potter at the Amex.
00:09:56
officialgspn
and it's almost a bit strange to think that we've got a big rivalry with them because Brighton have only been in the Premier League since 2017 but their big finish was sixth in the season 22-23 and that's when we had our worst finish of 12th and I think pretty much since 2022 that's when I guess the rivalry really begun because since then we've spent 187 million on players in the form of Quesado, Cucarella and Sanchez and then taking growing pots from them and backroom staff and more and more player staff members from Brighton to Chelsea. How do you see the history of the fixture, you know, sort of have we always had the upper edge and do Brighton fans have some kind of validation or vindigation to kind of have a bit of a hatred towards us?

Brighton's Resilience

00:10:51
Jake
no, they can't hate us. We've given them so much for me.
00:10:54
officialgspn
Exactly. That's what I think.
00:10:57
Jake
I mean, yeah, I mean, look, we've, we've stolen a couple of the, you know, sort of important players for them at the time, you know, casino, like I said, I was going, you know, I was leaving anyway for a
00:11:09
officialgspn
Oh, yeah.
00:11:10
Jake
Kukareya also, we came in for, And, but we, you know, we paid big money for him and and they've replaced him pretty well. something that, was talking about on our crossover Thursday yesterday.
00:11:18
officialgspn
Hmm.
00:11:20
Jake
ist it's, it's, I don't think there's, I don't think there should be any hatred though. Let's, let's just, let's have a nice time. time. Um, no, but i mean it's interesting because we we do always seem to have a good fixture as well.
00:11:30
Jake
We've only ever had, um, fixture against Brighton has only had one goal in it. we've never had a goblet one against the Premier League anyway.
00:11:34
officialgspn
Hmm.
00:11:38
Jake
And it's, I think that it's, the clubs generally do play, you know, do have quite good fixtures and they have, you know, always quite conflicting styles, I would say, or quite, you know, usually but both come into it wanting to win the game.
00:11:44
officialgspn
Oh,
00:11:51
officialgspn
yeah.
00:11:53
Jake
And i think I think Brighton, you know, they're definitely gonna be up for it.
00:11:55
Jake
It's gonna be really tough for us. They've started one as well. know, we've just been speaking about how decently we started Brighton have also had a very good start on there.

Changes under New Manager

00:12:04
Jake
they seem a bit more robust under this new manager and they seem to be a bit more efficient in front of goal and under this new manager and the main thing that we're gonna see is how consistent they are versus how consistent they were last season because that was what hurt them and if they sort of remain consistent they'll they'll be picking up a result against us so
00:12:26
officialgspn
Yeah, it is tricky, isn't it? you said, we both started really well. I think the only sort of downer, well, maybe it's an equivalent downer. I mean, we drew to Palace, which was a bit of a downer for us at home. They drew to Ipswich, which this is probably a bit of a worse result really when you expect to ah the top.
00:12:40
officialgspn
the top teams in the top half to probably beat Ipswich consistently. But like you say, they've got a new manager. So far, so good from Deserby. What are the really key differences between Deserby and their new manager that you've seen so far?
00:12:58
Jake
I think the Zerbe was very much, we're going to win this game. but, you know, it will take goals. And we know that from from the start.
00:13:09
Jake
So the will you know its it was gung-ho, you know, it was gung-ho from this early quite often.
00:13:10
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:13:14
Jake
And I think as interesting as his as his tactics were, of his attack to all of its attacking tactics and never matched up to his offensive tactics. So that was that's probably the main difference.
00:13:24
Jake
And I think Brighton now seem a bit more of a stable sort of team. They seem to be using players who provide a bit more of that stability. Van Hecker seems to have started really well and again, from my crossover Thursday, Richard mentioned, you know, he had did started well for them and he's got his first international call up and, you know, Brighton are now starting to have that, that squad caliber caliber of, you know, international players who, who can really change games and.

Tactical Evolution and Stability

00:13:48
Jake
you know, that and there are so many players that we have to worry about against them. um And, you know, their new manager, who's who's also quite young, which is which is quite interesting, you know, Brighton always seems to take these sort of risks and it just every time seems to work out for them.
00:14:01
Jake
Like they've got the youngest manager in the Premier League again now.
00:14:03
officialgspn
yeah
00:14:04
Jake
And he's he's he's definitely turned he's he's heavilyly made them just a bit more solid. He's not changed too much about their building. He's not he's not coming in sort of, you know, ripped up.
00:14:15
Jake
the entire system that they were playing with, he's just sort of reinforced it quite well and it's it's working for them so far.
00:14:23
officialgspn
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, the they do have that sort of knack, don't they, Brian, in terms of even though we took Kukarela, Kaiseido Sanchez away from them, they've got a knack of just finding another young player that maybe isn't just as good as that player, but isn't too far away of getting to that standard even after.
00:14:42
officialgspn
Chelsea have taken one of their recruitment back from staff. They still seem to be just fine.

Impact of Key Players Returning

00:14:46
officialgspn
So maybe it's just a magic touch on the south coast that they've got. so But again, they've got last season, and they kind of faltered just after March when they got beaten by Roma. They've got Motome Mabak and Astapinha, where they missed on big, big chunks of the season last season. How crucial do you think they'll be against us on the weekend?
00:15:10
Jake
ah Again, according back to our crossover Thursday, Rich mentioned how important the wire players have become again for Brighton and that's something, specifically as you're mentioning on that side, if we don't have, you know, even if Gusto is starting as our right back, he's only just come back and he did have a very good 45 minutes against Barrow but
00:15:28
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:15:29
Jake
that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be able to take on, you know, you know, those overlaps of sort of S.Pinyon and Matoma. And think S.Pinyon is a very good player, but Matoma is one I really worry about because he is just a sort of winger who's a bit similar to Sancho, actually. I think he he he's able to do anything when he gets sort of into that final third. He can either cut inside or he can try and dribble past someone or he will take another or cut inside and try and take a quick shot and try and take that towards the near post that usually gets and gets the other team at least the corner or something like that. like He makes an impact in no matter when no matter what when he plays and that is going to hurt us a bit if our defensive line is not where we where we want it to be in terms of you know the players

Defensive Challenges Against Brighton

00:16:11
Jake
playing in it.
00:16:12
Jake
And also, you know, are are we still looking a bit fragile? I don't know. I think we we did defend pretty well against West Ham, but they didn't have that many big chances and they didn't really. Their link up player was just not very good, so I don't know how much of a test it was for us, really. This will be a test, especially with those two players you just mentioned.
00:16:31
officialgspn
Yeah, absolutely More on the test coming up and tactics after this break
00:17:10
officialgspn
Welcome back to Daily Chelsea. This is all things forecasting ahead of the weekend's action. We're playing Brighton on the weekend, Jake, at 3 p.m. at the bridge. Now, our home form hasn't been great this season so far with a loss to City and a draw to Palace.

Importance of Improving Home Form

00:17:25
officialgspn
I think we really need to start getting a win in this weekend to to try and make the bridge a bit of a fortress and not just rely on our away form because that can be hit and miss depending on The stadium that we play at, away fans get onto us, all of those reasons. But we were just touching on Brighton's threats and you know so far our defence has been pretty decent, especially against West Ham. But like you say, they didn't really offer much. and There was that contentious Somerville penalty, was it? Was it not? So sometimes even when teams aren't at their best,
00:17:59
officialgspn
We aren't just shut up shop at the back and players can still get through us and we are a little bit leaky. What do you think the lineup will be this weekend? Do you think there'll be many changes from the team against West Ham? Do we need to make many changes? And do we need to be a bit more defensive knowing what Brighton can do?
00:18:20
Jake
I don't think we necessarily need need to have the mentality of being more defensive. you know, for one, we're at home and like you said, we really do need to start making some fridge, a bit of a fortress. And we need to start giving those home fans a reason to get behind Chelsea, you know, as a bit of give and take at the moment, like.
00:18:37
Jake
home fans who are coming to games we need to see wins and i think we did very well with that that regard you know with barrel ones they've with you know and giving the fans a good show but yeah i think i think we need to we need we really need to be looking to win this game and in terms in terms of the players that that are going to play i think it's going to be quite similar uh to the west ham game uh besides gusto i think gusto is definitely going to be starting so i think we'll see basically
00:18:44
officialgspn
yeah
00:19:04
Jake
Sorry, not not the same not the same back four. We'll see Kookarela, Colwill, Fafana and Gusto with Sanchez behind them. Tohsin did really well in that game and I expect to see him probably come on in this game as well. But Fafana and Cold War should probably be the starting partnership as that's the one we've been lining up on most of this season. and um Fernandez and Kiseido I think should definitely be starting again. I think Fernandez had a really good impact against West Ham.

Individual Performances Praise

00:19:31
Jake
He seemed to understand a bit more about where he needed to be and where his role was.
00:19:37
Jake
uh which was such a breath of fresh air because i don't think we've seen that from Enzo in a while and to be fair he's he's changed around quite a lot with managers his position but
00:19:37
officialgspn
Mm hmm.
00:19:44
officialgspn
Yeah. Yeah.
00:19:47
Jake
It was really good to see. So I think Fernandez and Casado would be would be start the starting midfielders for us. And then again, Sancho had a really good showing against West Ham. I think he he played really well. constantly drawed West Ham defenders, you know, sort of out of place and left even more space for players to make runs, which I think, you know, also allowed Palmer to make a a bigger impact. I think they're actually starting to work really well to together, Sancho and Palmer.
00:20:12
Jake
One of them runs, one of them has the ball, other one runs, one of them has the ball when it ends. They understand where they sort of are going to be and they understand when, the thing that I saw most against West Ham was they understood when a player was going to take another player with them and therefore leave the space in behind and it was just such simple passing between them. I think they had about 20 or 30 passes between them in that game and you could see that their link up is starting to work really well.
00:20:39
Jake
I would like to see Madaweiko start again on the right wing but I think he needs to show a bit more he needs to be less selfish 100 needs to be less selfish he showed he's definitely got the quality and he can do really well with that hat trick but ever since then I think he's really been he's been shooting rather than passing and
00:20:47
officialgspn
Yeah, definitely. Yeah.
00:20:58
Jake
that's not completely, that's not really what he should be doing. He's not really at that level yet.
00:21:02
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:21:05
Jake
He will get there, 100% he will get there, but he needs to be shown a bit more of that link up play, especially with how well Palmer and Sancho are showing that at the moment. And the starting striker, let's leave the goals to Jackson.
00:21:15
Jake
He seems to be happy with them at the moment, you know? Two fantastic goals against once against West Ham, just excellent finishes. And I think that's really exciting for Chelsea fans because he has been finishing really well this season and if we get that against Brighton, I think he'll definitely get the opportunities. If he gets those opportunities and he's able to take them, then I think we can win this game.

Debate: Nkunku vs. Jackson

00:21:34
Jake
It's going to be quite heavily heavily reliant on, I think, Palmer, Sancho and Jackson in terms of if we win this game or not.
00:21:41
officialgspn
Okay, interesting. I mean, definitely our most clinical and creative players right there, definitely up there in the top five. Obviously, Jackson's Fireman also does for four goals, two assists in five games the prem so far.
00:21:56
officialgspn
But like we kind of mentioned um previous podcasts, we've got a great strength in depth. And is there not a shout here for Nkunku to start? I mean, I know it's Barre, but he did get a hat trick against them and he did get the winner against Bournemouth. So would he potentially be better suited to this against Brighton? What do you think?
00:22:14
Jake
I think 100 there's hundred percent there is ah ah there's a shout for him to start but I just think the shout needs to be answered with no is the only is the only like, um like like he's he's really, really putting a shift in and all of his starts and he's he's scoring goals getting assists and he's doing really, really well.
00:22:29
Jake
I just don't think it's the time to take Jackson out of this team at the moment. He's got so much momentum in that striker position.
00:22:33
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:22:37
Jake
I think if if anything, it's more about sort of resting Palmer and putting Nkuku in behind Jackson, if we were going to see Nkuku push into that team.
00:22:43
officialgspn
Okay.
00:22:46
Jake
Jackson just really needs to ride this momentum as much as possible, especially after how inconsistent he was last season.
00:22:49
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:22:51
Jake
Let's keep, let's keep him there and keep it and keep him going. And I think if he can keep riding this confidence, you know, we could see him evolve into a, into a very good striker. So I think it's really key for that at the moment, as much as in cuckoo, obviously it wasn't just the fact that he's caught, he's been scoring goals.
00:23:06
Jake
He's been scoring excellent goals. Like we saw three of those on
00:23:07
officialgspn
Mm.
00:23:09
Jake
against Barrow on Tuesday.
00:23:09
officialgspn
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:23:12
Jake
but So, you know, he's he's pushing for a start on the team and he's doing it in style. I just don't think this is the game for him to push into the team yet.
00:23:19
officialgspn
Yeah, fair enough. I can definitely see that as well. And I think Maruska will follow a similar similar trail of thought. We've mentioned just how, you know, good we are on the pitch at the moment and the things to get exciting on on the pitch. But, Jake, I sort of wonder whether this game will be more affected by the game, by the players that aren't on the pitch, i.e.

Impact of Injuries

00:23:39
officialgspn
the players that are injured. Obviously, we've got Kellyman, Rhys James and Lavia injured.
00:23:45
officialgspn
Predominantly, it's mainly James and Lavia that we're a bit frustrated by, but I think we're covered enough in those areas at the moment. so So I think we're okay. But for Brighton, they've got Gruda Milner. Jau Pedro is a real key one. Matthew O'Reilly, Soli March, and Aiyari all out. So that's six players out. And like I said, Jau Pedro, he scored against Arsenal this season, and it's probably their main striker.
00:24:12
officialgspn
Do you think those injuries will be just too much written in this game?
00:24:18
Jake
I don't think it's going to be too much for them just because I think they have quite a good squad. the players that they started with, you know, they had the same injuries when it came to the game against forest. I think they, you know, the, the lineup that they put out against forest was actually really, really good. It was a really solid lineup for the minute. It's all offered the quality that they needed in all areas. and if they go with the same lineup again on Saturday, I'm, I'm, I'm going to be quite worried, you know,
00:24:43
Jake
metoma Matoma, Adengra seems to be really informed as well as Danny Welbeck, who is just sort of scoring for fun at the moment.
00:24:49
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:24:52
Jake
You know, scoring for fun in Danny Welbeck isn't a name, you know, isn't instance say too often, but sort of, he is doing so at the moment. He's really, he's really got quality. And I think the thing is about Danny Welbeck, because he's always been a bit of a a space investigator and he'll always sort of make those runs into wherever their space.
00:25:09
Jake
And at the moment, I think we're a bit fragile in that regard. I think
00:25:12
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:25:12
Jake
Colwell and Fafana haven't completely worked out the positions that they always need to be it seems like It seems almost as if Rasko wants to make one of them a stopper and one of them the ball-playing defender one He's always always slightly further up and ready to play the ball or receive the ball Almost as if like an additional midfielder, but what that does is it if we get count it on and it means we can't really hold sort of, we can't really have any sort of a side trap because our line is completely out of shape.
00:25:19
officialgspn
ye
00:25:38
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:25:39
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:25:40
Jake
Usually considering the fallback is coming back from midfield, one of the fallbacks coming from the field is typically Kookarela.
00:25:46
Jake
That means that's changing the shape as we're being counted on it as well. then obviously our right back is usually typically quite a tappi attacking, so they're running back at the same time as well. And we're going to face quite a lot of counter attacks against Brighton and that's what really worries me.
00:26:00
officialgspn
Yeah good points there Jake and I mean like well back he's played five, scored three and assisted one already this season so having the time of his life and you know if you've got him in your FPL team you must be loving the points.
00:26:12
Jake
Hmm.

Match Predictions

00:26:12
officialgspn
Yeah all those things to note Jake but then still I'm still pretty confident and I mean my prediction for the result is a 3-2 win so same as last season, high scoring game, just because I do think Brighton do have enough quality to break our lines. And we're not quite there defensively. We we still need a bit of work on that. And because there's so much movement within Mariska's system, we really need to do tighten up our defense. But what about you, Jake? What do you think the score is going to be? And yeah, who's going to be the scorers for us?
00:26:46
Jake
I think it's going to be a 2-1 win only, and if this is similar to what I said and on crossover Thursday, that I think the confidence we've got right now and the momentum we've got, I think we're going to ride that and that's going to take us to a win in this game. It's going to be very important. I think the first half an hour in this game is going to be very important. I think Brighton are going to press us. They're going to really try and upset us. And in terms of the fans at the bridge as well, we really need to have the fans behind the team for this one.
00:27:13
Jake
Our home form has not been that great this season. it seems you know There's been a couple of shouts about players actually preferring to play away and stuff like that, which would just suck if that was true.
00:27:19
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:27:21
Jake
But we need to start changing that. The fans need to start changing that's that at Stanford Bridge. And I think what could also push us to win this game is being the 12th man. if my specific My very specific predictions, I think, will go 1-0 down and win 2-1.
00:27:34
Jake
But obviously, Stanford Bridge, you know the fans will be quite important for that.
00:27:34
officialgspn
Okay, wow.
00:27:38
officialgspn
Wow, yeah.
00:27:39
Jake
So we'll we'll see what happens. But in terms of the scorers, I think Matoma will get a goal against us, as informal as well, because I think it'll be Matoma who scores.
00:27:45
officialgspn
Okay.
00:27:50
Jake
And then I think for us, I think we'll see a Cole Palmer goal. As typical, you can put you can put that sort of every week.
00:27:56
officialgspn
Exactly.
00:27:56
Jake
I've got a Cole Palmer goal or two.
00:27:56
officialgspn
That's it.
00:27:59
Jake
I think Jackson will score again as well. he's He's been really impressive and I think he's he's going to be really up for it at Stamford Bridge. he'll be pushing on Van Hecke and Dunk. I think he can best one of them and get a goal.
00:28:10
officialgspn
Wow. Strong predictions. I love it, Jake. Love it. Well, we definitely hope for a win.
