Success in esthetics isn’t just about talent, having the prettiest treatment room, or knowing every ingredient on the market. The estheticians who build careers that actually last? They tend to do a few things differently. In this episode, we’re breaking down 6 things successful estheticians consistently do - the habits, mindset shifts, professionalism, and foundational practices that separate constantly trying to grow from actually building something sustainable. And spoiler: none of them require going viral, having thousands of followers, or working yourself into the ground. Whether you’re brand new, rebuilding, feeling stuck, or already thriving and ready for your next level, this episode is an opportunity to take inventory: What am I already doing well? Where have I gotten a little too comfortable? What could change if I committed to the basics consistently? Because success in this industry usually isn’t built through one big breakthrough. It’s built through what you choose to do over and over again.  6 Things Successful Estheticians Do Differently 1. They take ownership of their success 2. They master the client relationship 3. They invest in themselves 4. They have standards and work ethic 5. They think long term 6. They master the foundations New episode of Beyond Esthetics is live now. Speaker: Welcome to Beyond Aesthetics Podcast. Good morning. morning. Happy Monday morning. Welcome to Beyond Aesthetics.

Speaker: That is always your thing to say. I don't know why I just jumped in there a little bit. I was being very like my um like host recording voice I had on and you were just like, good morning. i' doing your You're so good at that.

Speaker: We are so happy you're here We are so happy to be here with you. Welcome to the Beyond Aesthetics podcast. We are your hosts. I am Tiffany Orr. This is my beautiful co-host. I am Jessica Peterson.

Speaker: And it is a new week. It's a new day. it It's... um I'm feeling so good. how about you? I feel really good. And, you know, before we started recording, you're like, is there anything else you want to talk about? And I was like, no. But at the same time, you know, i was thinking about Lionsgate Portal. And by the time that this comes out, I mean, it's going to be August hmm.

Speaker: ah Today's actually August 10th. So we're recording this on August 10th and Lionsgate portal technically is on eight eight but it is still open, I think. And i think like, even though it isn't, and you guys are listening to this a couple of weeks from now, manifestation is important.

Speaker: You know, i don't think you have to believe in manifestation necessarily to just understand that it's a fact of life. There's actually holy science behind the fact that you're creating your own reality and circumstances, even if that simply is just... your perception of how life is or how the circumstances in your life are. Like, I think that it means many, many different things, but I will say that that has been something that's been heavily on my mind since I went to lunch with our friend Marty last week, because that was our reasoning for going to lunch was to talk about these things. And we didn't talk about it as much. And so I've just been thinking,

Speaker: what am i working on creating my life right now? Like, what am I meant ah manifesting? What am I working on in life? And so, you know, August is sort of wrapping up summer, especially for everyone who has kiddos. We're like going into, especially in Boise. I mean, kids are going back to school next week, which is crazy to me, you know, it's a little weird to me or like in Arizona, kids are already back in school. So, hu you know, if you are someone who your kids are going back to school or, you know, as the esthetician, just paying attention to, we are going into back to school season, you know, just side note, you might want to think about that. Um,

Speaker: I do think it kind of changes our brains a little bit. i do think that it like flips and we know that with you, I go through this with you every year where we go from really heavy summer to all of the sudden, even you and I are completely back in a routine because the kids are back into a routine. Your kids are back into a routine. And so, um I think it's something to think about because I do think that manifestation or thinking about those things in your life, like your goals and, you know, where you want to go back to school season somehow signifies that just a little bit. And I think those of us who are obsessed with summer don't think about it as much in the summer.

Speaker: Does that make sense? Like we're playing. Oh, so much. as match I don't know if that's just like a me and you thing because we are, you know, right in the summer. Yeah. i for five But then September rolls around and we're like, oh, wait a second. Like, let's get back into a routine. Let's manifest. Let's have the morning routine. Let's do. you know, all of these things. And we start to really take back control of being the co-creator in our lives in a way. And that's really what manifestation is all about. And that's all that I really wanted to share is that I would really encourage our listener, um,

Speaker: to just start thinking about what you're creating in your life and what you want to create in your life. And then when you're writing down your manifestations, which is very, very important, write them down in a way that they have already happened and express your gratitude and how that feels like be very descriptive about it so that when you are reading that back to yourself, preferably every morning,

Speaker: the universe has like no other option other than to give that to you. Right. Unless you're really blocking yourself for some reason, like you really do have to believe that these things are possible. And so, yeah, it's just been something that is like a really heavily on my mind and just something that I would love to encourage people to start thinking about.

Speaker: I'm really glad that you brought it up because I actually, I was thinking about it on my drive home on Saturday And but then i i kind of forgot about it. I kind of was like really thinking about that. So I'm glad you brought it up. And the only other thing I would add to that is yes,

Speaker: ah August really signifies back to school, but it's also that change of the seasons, right? Like I can already feel fall in the air a little bit in my area, just like in the just the tiniest little bit. And so it's coming, right? We know it's coming. And so and like, Jess and I live in Idaho. So we experienced all four seasons for sure. I know that doesn't apply to all of you. At the same time, um you know, we're still heading into fall, all we're still heading into back to school. And what's really important about what we're talking about in the lion's gate and manifestation and is, and going into it intentionally is so that, how do I, I always say this wrong. So i want to think about it before it comes out of my mouth so that you like, so that life isn't happening to you, that you're taking control of your life in a very intentional way so that we don't just like end up in back to school season, end up in fall, end up heading into the holidays. And we're overwhelmed and we're end up saying yes or doing things that really don't fill our soul or serve our needs or our career or our family life and personal life.

Speaker: And so that's the only thing. Other thing I would add to that is so that you can very intentionally show up for your life, however that looks for you. And I love the conversation that we're going to have today because that's really going to apply.

Speaker: um but Being intentional about it. And if you don't know what the Lionsgate portal is, we would encourage you to just do a quick Google search um to read a little bit about it. it's um I was reading the other day, it's 8-8-26. But then if you take that whole number, however you do that math, it still comes back down to 8.

Speaker: When you apply the 2026 in there, i don't know how to do that. Math isn't my strong suit. But it's really cool and it's really powerful. And the Leo energy is a very strong energy. And so, um yeah, I just think it's so cool.

Speaker: okay You've got a floof in your face right now. have a constant floof in my face since I came home. Hi. I like We're going to make sure that you know that you are gone. Yes.

Speaker: Okay. This is really exciting. So today's episode is all about six things successful estheticians do differently. So we want to talk about success isn't about whether you're employed or solo. It's about how intentionally you approach your career. And,

Speaker: you know, and The reason why, so one thing that I was thinking about when I was putting this together was the conversation that we had on the last episode. about you know it's really not better to be solo or employed. They're both just different and they both serve really good purposes. And so today's episode is going to be about just truly success as an esthetician, regardless of your specific role as an esthetician. And so we're really talking about just being an esthetician in general, regardless of your role. And so I'm really excited about it. and um

Speaker: and being really intentional with how you approach your career. so Before we get into the six points, we haven't had this conversation for a while. Although when I was thinking about it, I'm like, actually, we talk about this on like every single episode in a roundabout way, which is defining success on your terms first. And so even though this is like six things, you know, quote unquote, successful estheticians do differently, Success really does mean something different to everybody.

Speaker: and um obviously you would want to be able to identify that for yourself first before you even continue listening to this episode. So truly, if you need to pause and take a minute and think about what success really means to you, please do. And please feel free I think it's so important that everybody as an individual knows what success means to them so that you know what you're going for and you're being really intentional with everything that you're doing, because it's leading you to this idea of success that you have. And i know for me and you, like our ideas of success have just drastically changed over the years, as I think it's common as you get older, like when you're younger, you know, it tends to look a lot like money money.

Speaker: As you get older, like my idea of success doesn't, it it might have to do with money in a very roundabout way, but it's so much deeper. and i think I can confidently speak for both of us when I say that our idea of success means building a very, very fulfilled, happy, free, peaceful life around our career, right? That like that really does come first, right?

Speaker: Because if it doesn't, then you're going point yeah, like what's the point you're going to burn out. Everybody our age right now is healing from burnout because it was like, our idea of success was very money focused.

Speaker: And now it seems like we're all taking the focus off of that, which has been one of the best experiences and in my life personally, just It's, it's so different. And when we work with people, like when we do the mastermind or we do individual coaching and people go through our um um whole insight and clarity process through that workbook. Defining success is one of the first things that they do. and it ends up being one of the first conversations that we have because we usually have them go back to the drawing board on what that really means, you know, because it really is about the life that you want to build for success.

Speaker: yourself and success doesn't need to be tied to your work specifically. you want to take the look at your life as a whole and what that really means to you. And also being really open to shifting and evolving that idea of success with time. It's going to happen no matter what you do. And so it's also important to kind of have like a date with yourself every year, you know, to even define that for yourself and make sure that you're still in alignment with what you thought success was, because it is also going to change. But, you know, i do think it has to be something like deep.

Speaker: Well, yeah, it's got to be tied to a purpose or a calling. And i think it's got to be somehow tied to your soul. And that so, so in individual's idea of success is,

Speaker: But personally, it comes back to their own alignment, their own authenticity, their own purpose. And that's why it's so individual. And so and that's why it is so very, very important to make sure. you as our listener are asking yourselves those deep questions, doing that deep work, not looking outward for other validation or answers or, you know, guidance is one thing. Absolutely. That's why we're your guides. We're, you know, two of many of your guides in this life. At the same time, though, you know, we have our own inner compass and like Yes, have a date with yourself at least once a year. I like to have a date with myself about it several times a year. And it usually does come with the change of the seasons. Actually, I'm a completely different person in the summertime than I am in the wintertime. And by usually I used to only do this type of deep work in the wintertime around the new year. And I'm like, and I've really realized like, okay, I do need to have a conversation around June or July with myself because summertime Tiffany's are so much more fun. than winter time, Tiffany. um

Speaker: It does though. you're right. It does link back to a deeper meaning, something so awful. And I think each and every one of us knows what that is. It can take a lot of uncovering and a lot of deep work and work in the dark.

Speaker: hu Well, and I think too, like if you really ask yourself, how do you want to feel on a daily basis? you know, and what do you really want your life to look like? How do you want to feel every single day is so important. Like you don't need to just look forward to the weekends or, you know, whatever it's, it's really on a daily basis. Like this is your one life that you get to experience, you know, being this person and having this beautiful experience as a human. What do you really want that to look like and feel like every day? You know, um so I do. I think it's extremely soulful. There's probably a lot that you'll have to uncover. So it seems like a really simple question. But, you know, I i think we both would say, take your time to to think about that and define it and journal about it and

Speaker: and get as deep as possible, because I'm telling you that when you do, it actually does make every day easier when you really do have a deeper purpose for why you're doing everything that you do, because it's so easy to get caught up in your day-to-day stuff. And, um, you know, I think the best way to not get like overly caught up and overly lost in your day-to-day is to have a solid foundation of what success really means to you on that really deep level. Um, and yeah, so, So I think that I add one more thing.

Speaker: Of course. Well, and when we do, when you are doing this exercise on what success really does mean to you, you want to look at all the ah everything as a whole, not just your professional success.

Speaker: You want to look at your personal success, your physical body success, your spiritual success, or not even success. You even have to attach the success to that, but you want to look at like, okay, I am a whole human, a whole spirit. You cut me into four. I've got my professional, my spiritual, my physical, and then my personal life. And we want to apply it to all of that because if we're only focused on our professional success, quote unquote, then There's going to be other pieces of the pie per se that are going to play a part or that we're not giving our time and attention and energy and focus to as well that do play a part. And so it's just going to get things off kilter.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: It's really interesting to... how the physical will melt into the spiritual too, you know, and then like the spiritual and the mental will melt into each other. So it's, it's true when you really think about your life and you think about the four quadrants that when, when you're really doing great with one of them, you can kind of see the little pieces that can melt into all those other pieces too And so if you are overly focused on one, it's easy to lose focus on the others. But if you can like keep coming back to looking at all four of them and making sure that you're spending time um in all four of them, that they really can all work so harmoniously together. Like i know when I am in like a bodybuilding prep,

Speaker: I am more spiritual than ever because I have to lean on spirit. And at the same time, there's so much of that like mental personal strength that's coming along with that too, right? And then if I'm being really good about staying in harmony with all of those, then it is actually really interesting how I can take all that spiritual and all that mental and all that personal and then equally kind of pour that into the like work part of my life, if that makes sense. And so I think that in order to get there, you do have to continue to pay attention to it and draw your attention to it. And so that's why I love our wellness wheel. i know That's like really the point of the the wellness wheel that we've talked about before is we have this resource called the wellness wheel. And it is free in the membership, but you also can find, you know, your favorite version of the wellness wheel on like Etsy or something.

Speaker: And print it out. And it's so good to do a check-in with yourself, you know, once a month when you're looking at the wellness wheel and making sure that not necessarily everything is equal all the time, but it's just about bringing awareness to like where you're really at so that you know how to, you know, just kind of shift things along to make sure that everything is like really working in harmony with each other. yeah. That is one of my favorite resources that we have. But, you know, the four quadrant theory is very similar. I think the wellness will just breaks it into further categories. It's but it's the same thing. um it is life changing. You know, I remember learning about that maybe.

Speaker: I would say 11 or 12 years ago, actually, when that was really brought to my attention. And it really was such a game changer for me to understand that there are different quadrants of life and to learn how to pay attention to them. It did help me to make a more well-rounded, harmonious life. Again, like balance is not so much a thing, but harmony is a very much a thing.

Speaker: Absolutely. And the wellness wheel is just such a great exercise to do to be able to check in with yourself and get it out of your head and get it out in front of you and ask yourself how you really are doing, how you really are working in harmony or not. You know, that's always a great indicator for me is when I'm not. And so um how things can lead into your life is when they are out of harmony. And so like, ask us both how we know it's because we've lived there. We've poured, too much into one aspect. Or I know for me, like my, my health kind of has gone down the tubes over the last few years, because I was just so focused on the professional success of my life.

Speaker: And then that started to wane a little bit. and so um having that contrast, I guess, is just a really great indicator of like, don't do that. And so I love having this conversation today of just pay attention to all of it. And it really does come back to the feeling. My my old version of myself and my old idea of success was very numbers driven. and it was like how much I had in my bank account, how many followers I had on social media. That was my like my benchmark of success. And now I'm like, you know, it's really comes back about the feeling and the peace and the freedom I have in my own life. yeah And that is, that is my version of success. When I can wake up and be excited about the things that I want to do and not feel like I am a prisoner to my own life or my own job or all of the things and still feel very creative and very free, just peaceful, free on the inside. You know, that's that success.

Speaker: I do know because we've both like gone through that transition together and it is so free. Yeah. Yeah. Oh man, it's funny because i so I'm still going through this. Like I say no like i still even, um yesterday I was doing my check-in with my coach and I was like, I'm spending too much time with my friends. It's like,

Speaker: You know, I'm spending too much time like, I've gone too far into that quadrant, you know, and and you know, i mean, I was with you this weekend and that's me not necessarily what I'm referring to, but it is at the same time that I'm just like, for me, it's been every week. Like there's always something. And I've talked to you about that. Even just a few weeks ago, there was a week where i was like, my entire week was given to my friends versus,

Speaker: my workouts, my time that I wanted to be in the mountains, either with myself or with, you know, ah a guy or, you know, like these things kept coming up. And I was so upset with myself because i was like, I literally just gave all of my time away to my friends, like I decentered myself from my life and then I was doing really good. and then I feel like, okay, you I need a week, not alone necessarily, but to be just back into like a normal routine without having something on my schedule that also like involves many other people all the time. Or, you know, because I do have like a full week open right now. I'm like, that doesn't mean that I can say,

Speaker: Yes, at the last minute, like I need things to be kind of planned with friends a little bit more, you know, like, going out to lunch with someone, I would like that to be on my schedule, or like, you and i going away for the weekend, like that was on my schedule, like I can plan for that. But It is so interesting how you and I still to this day, even though we know all of these things, we still do it. And that's where the contrast comes in is because like yesterday i didn't even leave my house. I was like, look, I'm going to sleep for as long as I can. And I'm, I deep cleaned my house. I organized closets. I threw stuff away because I was like, I've got to come like home and reset the stage for me to be me and to pour back into me and for me to feel really good and back on like a normal um schedule because that contrast got to be where I was like,

Speaker: Who am I right now? You know, like, well, and you know, when I started to get like really anxious too, I got really anxious with Tiffany on Friday and that hadn't happened to me for a very, very long time. And I think there was many reasons why it happened. But anytime that I start to get those feelings again, I'm like, okay, there's the contrast. Like I really invite it in and I'm like, what are you here to tell me And as soon as I do that, those feelings go away. And then the answers can come in like, okay, let's get back to you and back to harmony. Let's check in with yourself. Let's reset the foundation. And so the reason I'm bringing that up is not just because, you know, like Tiffany said, why do you think we can tell you that? Because we have been through this on

Speaker: you know, many different scales, like very large scales, but then there's just these small scales like I'm talking about right now, where it's like the contrast is what we're looking for. And the more and more that you can check in with yourself and see the quadrants, then you really experience a contrast and it's so much easier to come back and to get to know yourself on those different levels. I feel like that's what it is. Just like you saying, like coming home to yourself and recentering. That's the type of, I think, work, self-work that we're talking about is learning to know what comes up for you when it comes up and why, or even just being curious about, okay, why is this showing up for me? And what do I need to do to really recenter myself and come home to myself? And so having that contrast and we all have it, right? It's life experience and we can eat, we can choose to, I think, address it and look at it and talk with it and about it. Or we can be like annoyed by it and can try to like muster through and push it away or push it aside Um, so yeah. And I mean, like same for me, i was playing that way. This last weekend was the last big thing I had on my calendar for the summer. And you and I both been so busy this summer. Like I haven't spent a weekend at home, I think in seven weekends in a row. Yeah. And by busy, we also mean playing. Yes, yes. And so fun. It's like having so much fun and, you know, yes, working hard. When we are working, we are really hard and we're having a lot of fun. So I just wanted to put that out there. Yeah, we're not like putting work on the back burner. We're still getting our work done, if not more work than we ever have done because it's just a practice. It's taken us a lot of years. We are 40 now. So it's taken us, you know,

Speaker: I don't know, you and I've worked since we were children. So probably 30 plus years of work, working hard and um learning ourselves and learning what feels good and what doesn't feel good. And it's still a practice. You know what I mean? So it's not like we have mastered this. And at the same time, we can be honest with ourselves and know when we're off kilter and off center. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. So, and that just brings us back to Tiffany and i are very, very centered in our idea of success.

Speaker: Yeah. And so we know what we want our lives to feel like on a daily, weekly, you know, monthly basis, but like especially daily. And you guys can probably hear and pick up that it's like a feeling, you know, it's the value of freedom and peace and harmony in our lives. And that is our idea of success. And so when it comes to the four quadrants or the wellness wheel, or that contrast, the reason why we can feel that so much is because we're very centered in what our idea of success is. And so that was my point too. and just

Speaker: And us elaborating on that, like, it's literally so important. It's literally so important. And so thank you guys for bearing with us through that whole yeah conversation, because it is such an important conversation. And i yeah, in order for us to even move forward with this conversation. I think you really do want to sit down and define what success looks like for you And you can break that up into different quadrants if you want to or it can be a little bit more like, you know, with Tiffany and I, it's like, these are the values that we're looking for. This is what we want our life to be centered around is freedom. peace, harmony, love, service. And when you're really centered in those values and those are in every single quadrant of your life, you're going to get better and better at knowing when you're off center.

Speaker: hu Yes, absolutely. So you can bring it, bring it back. However that looks for you. Yeah. Or adjust as needed or pivot when you need to. And those could be really small daily pivots. Or they could be really big life-changing pivots. Yeah. You know, but no matter what, it's still going to help serve you and your purpose in your life.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. So much. Can we talk about something else really quick? Yes, please. Simply because we have a conversation a lot this weekend that I want everybody to consider.

Speaker: the women or the people that you are spending the most time with. Yeah.

Speaker: You know, it is so interesting how different it is when I'm with Tiffany, when we're with. So Tiffany and my girlfriend, Abby, met this week. And the feeling of being around each other and the conversations that are had with each other.

Speaker: you know And then like I don't know if you guys start to just pay attention to the types of conversation, the level of conversation and the way that you feel when you're around other women so that you can make sure you're spending the most time and giving the most priority first and foremost to yourself, you know but number two, to the right people who really feed your soul and can have more evolved conversations and that when you're with them, you don't feel like you are

Speaker: oh Bracing or yeah yeah, bracing or drained or having to be really careful about like what you say. um Yeah. Reserved. Yeah. Like reserved. Like do say something? Do I not say it?

Speaker: ahha I really do encourage you guys to pay attention to that. And it's been really interesting in my own life, how I have a few different kind of groups of friends that I spend time with. And it's just become so obvious to me who's feeding my soul. Who am I the most myself with? who makes me feel more evolved and who doesn't. And it doesn't make, it just is a different type of relationship. It doesn't make me anything bad necessarily, but it has helped me to have a more

Speaker: harmonious kind of relationship with my friendships so that I just kind of know where to give myself the most to, if that makes sense. And so all friendships are amazing. I have so much fun with all of my friends. Um, but it is something and Abby kept bringing it up this weekend too. is she was like, I've never felt more relaxed around two women. Like her and I have traveled before too, but she was like, i don't I don't feel like bracing. don't feel like I'm hiding parts of myself. I just feel very, very comfortable. And she was like, I feel like I'm just hanging out with myself, which is a compliment because she's one of the most emotionally where um emotionally evolved, you know, people that I've ever met, like her emotional intelligence is just off the charts.

Speaker: Yes, which is so inspiring to have a conversation with somebody like that. Because you're like, oh what yes, it needs your soul. you can have an intelligent conversation. And again, it's not like taking a certain part of you that takes a lot of effort or that's draining. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. So I just had to have that little side quest because it's something that I'm like really learning in life right now. And because we are women, you know, and we do really thrive in relationships with women.

Speaker: Yeah. Pay attention to that and make sure that You're giving most of your time to the women that are having more evolved conversations and that are really inspiring your growth. And, you know, when you spend a lot of time with people who are very stuck, you're just going to be stuck to you. We are the most like the five people we spend the most time with. So. Pay attention to who that is. That's why Tiffany and I are always evolving in the same direction is because we're quote unquote with each other every day, all day. And so we're evolving with each other consistently. So pay attention. Who are the five people that you are spending the most time with and make sure you're

Speaker: They're people who are evolving and growing so that you're evolving and growing too. Well, yeah. And best case scenario, they're a little bit more evolved than you too. Absolutely. So that you can strive to be better so that you can even inspire be inspired to be better on a daily basis.

Speaker: Yep. And that the same applies with who you're following on social media, who you, who's in your feed on a daily basis to who you're allowing into your own realm. and taking in that energy that can be the same thing applied, but personal connection is just top tier. it i i know like we just had the conversation of both of us feeling a little bit off center after all of the fun that we've had with friends and with trips and activities this summer after this weekend.

Speaker: At the same time, I have never felt more fulfilled after spending time with you and Abby in person. Yeah. and It's just a deeper level of connection. We had so much fun. We had so many great conversations and that was the first time I had met Abby and I'm just so grateful her and I both talked about that. Like we were so grateful that it worked out so well because it doesn't always go that way with them when you meet somebody new and spend the night with them at, you know, at an Airbnb and eat with them and have those very, um, just in personal experiences together. So, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah, so good. And I think that that it does kind of tie into everything else we're talking about, like really pay your success can also really depend defend on who you're surrounding yourself with. So I think that those are like good key points before we go into the six things. And, you know, none of these six things are going to be surprising to any of you, but they are extremely powerful. And I will put all six of them in the show notes so that you can copy, paste, screenshot, whatever, continue to come back to these six points. So,

Speaker: The six things successful estheticians do differently. Number one, they take ownership of their career. They don't wait for someone else to create their success.

Speaker: They take the bull by the horns, baby. bull by the horns, they're not waiting for anybody to come save them. and So as an employee, yeah, not a victim to circumstances, because we do see that all the time too, like people, you know, the industry is saturated, or I can't find a job or this or this or this. It's, you know, you really need to take ownership of your own career. So Employed estheticians take ownership of their clientele, performance, growth, relationships, and opportunities within the business.

Speaker: Solo estheticians take ownership of the entire business, their marketing, finances, retention systems, client experience, and growth. So a key takeaway here is you don't have to own the business to take ownership of your career. Again, just landing back on the fact that there's not one that's better than the other. Like I said in the last episode, I don't know if I would have a solo business.

Speaker: i love working for someone else sometimes in that environment and just getting to do the facials and the relationships. You know, I loved that so much. And that is how I grew. Like, that's where my career really came from, was me working for someone else. And so, um but really taking ownership of your career is a lot of responsibility of just like, Here's where I am The grass is really green right here because I'm watering it and I'm taking charge of every possible opportunity in this particular circumstance. And so um it is just taking ownership of your own performance. Well, and really...

Speaker: adopting the mindset of no one's going to come in and do it for you. Right. As no one should. It's your life. It's your career. It's your responsibility. It's you have the authority, which is really beautiful because you get to do it and you get to do it your way with your secret sauce. And there is, like you said, no right or wrong way. you know, um it's really what is underneath it that's driving you, ah your drive, your determination, your work ethic, your authenticity, if you're working in alignment with your soul, your purpose, all of the things.

Speaker: And so that's the whole beautiful part of it. But nobody's going to come save you. Nobody's going to come in and do that hard work for you or even make the decisions that need to be done to lead you in the right direction. Right. Absolutely. So own it.

Speaker: Take full ownership of exactly where you are. Take ownership of your career. Make it your bitch. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like really work with it, integrate it. I'm sorry. It's so slow to me here. So I'm really sorry. My voice is not getting so...

Speaker: so gross. I've tried not to be outside at all because it really is like that bad here. So and taking ownership of your career is so, so, so important. I think that that is one thing that i mastered from the very beginning. And I think that might just be the millennial in me.

Speaker: hu Don't you feel that way? and like I don't know. i just picked this path. And so now I have to give it everything that i am and take full ownership of, of the whole thing. and it is really powerful. And so and Take ownership of your career, no matter where you are. Lean into it so hard. Learn everything that you can. You know, really taking ownership too means to me like,

Speaker: Mastering where you are. And you guys, I cannot emphasize that enough. Master exactly where you are right here, right now. So again, what does that mean? Master the art of relationships, master your retail sales, master your touch, master your like everything that that it is master it and take ownership of it. There's, there's no, like we could have done this as the last, like save the best, yeah you know what I mean? But really take ownership of your career, become the master of it.

Speaker: Number two is master client relationships. So it's a successful esthetician masters client relationships. And this is something that we've driven home from day one. Your relationships are the basis of your career. Successful estheticians understand that people are the foundation of this industry. It's not just about performing a great facial or a great waxing service or the microneedling or, you know, all the different modalities and all the different certificates that you have. Those are just like icing on the cake. It's really about making your clients feel seen, remembered, cared for, and valued.

Speaker: There is no career. There is no business. There is no practice without the people behind it, without the clients behind it. And it's really just... That's it. It's your relationships that you're building with your clientele, with the people in your community, with the people in your area, with the people on social media. It is people. People are your profit.

Speaker: It's true. And we do have to master those relationships and master those connections and learn how to talk with people and learn to be a safe space for people and learn to nurture people. And then those people are going to be the ones that give back to your career. in xyz right they're going to fill your books they're going to refer their friends they're going to come and buy product from you they're going to come back and see you for more services there it just grows and grows and grows there but truly mastering those client relationships that's just you know if i had one people i've actually i have had this ask somebody asked me the other day like what what's one thing that you could say to help somebody

Speaker: help their career take off. And I'm like, it's the people work on the relationships and let that build for you. That's like my number one people. Yeah. And it it, I do love people over profit. If you can just keep that in mind, you're going to be fine. And another piece of that puzzle is that, um, word of mouth is how you build,

Speaker: your clientele, you know, solo or employed, it doesn't matter. it really is word of mouth. Like you want to believe it social media, just because that's what you're faced with every day, but nothing could be further from the truth. Cause if you're, if you don't know how to connect with people in person and how to love people and see people and create a very personable, um, connected experience with them,

Speaker: like social media is not that it just, well, you can be so successful on social media, but if you don't have those in-person people skills yeah and that's really not going to matter. And that's not actually what's going to put dollars in your bank account, you know, unless you're like an influencer, but still, I would say influencers have learned to master relationships. They know what people want to hear from them. They know how to connect with people through the screen. Like it is a different realm, but at the same time, like it,

Speaker: No matter what, it's going to be those relationships that it's going to fuel that. Yeah. And, you know, I really loved our episode about creating connection and learning how to communicate because it isn't always a skill that all of us are taught. And so i will put the link to that episode in the show notes also because,

Speaker: That was probably one of the most important episodes that we have ever put out there. And it does have a PDF that comes with it. And so if you feel like that's something in your career that you really want to hone in on and work on that much harder, because you should, like, we would love for you to do that. because it is key. please Please revisit that episode, download the PDF and have that with you or accessible um so that you can look at that every single week and do a check-in with yourself. But word of mouth is actually how you're going to build your reputation and build your career. And that's just kind of how you're going to do that. You have to learn to connect with people. It doesn't You guys, it doesn't come naturally to everybody. It's something I had to learn when I was already well into my career to be able to do what I do today. I've had to learn better. And I'm still learning all the time.

Speaker: And so it is something that you can learn. It is a practice. And so if you don't feel like you're great at this, we have that episode for you that is going to help you. and it's really just creating very genuine connection. i would say to remembering details about your clients, and we've talked about that before, like either make notes in your phone, make notes in their file, but make that a priority. Like if Someone's daughter is about to graduate and you know that the next time that you are going to see them is after the graduation, check in on that. It makes people feel really, really special. at Learning to listen and not talking over people and not interrupting. Listening is another skill for estheticians to master. And even in all of the retail courses that I've taught, there's like two main courses that I have. I spend a lot of time just teaching people how to listen and emphasizing yeah the beauty of learning to listen because believe it or not, it isn't human nature to learn how to actually listen to people.

Speaker: And then personalizing the experience, you know, I remember in the resort, I had this client, his name is Spike. He has since passed away. And every time that Spike came to see me, which was about once every four to six weeks, we would do a 90 minute facial. And he loved Nora Jones.

Speaker: And so I always had Nora Jones available back in the day. This was like when we had CD players. So i would have my Nora Jones CD in my treatment room for whenever he came in so that we could listen to Nora Jones during his appointment. And um those little personal touches about people, if you know like their favorite tea whatever,

Speaker: but So some of my clients know that I love Diet Coke. And so when I go into a training, they always have like a cold Diet Coke ready for me. Those little things literally make the biggest difference. They make people feel so loved and so seen and so special. And so those personal touches are important.

Speaker: um Following through is obviously key. If you say you're going to do something, do it. If you are someone like me who needs to write everything down, write everything down. I always tell people, like if I'm with Tiffany in a meeting and I'm telling her, okay, let me double check in on this. i take my phone out and I say, I'm just writing this down to be sure that I don't forget to do this. And so even like people knowing that you're writing that down so that you don't forget, it's like a personal touch. And do you know that you're going to follow through. It creates a lot of trust.

Speaker: which is the next one, which is creating trust. Creating trust is also follow through. So creating trust is also just, you know, following through, um but also knowing that like you're a safe space, right? So like they can tell you anything, whether or not that is personal information or, you know, stuff about their skin and there's trust, like there's no judgment there. So making sure that you are a very, very safe space for them on many different levels.

Speaker: And making clients feel more than just a transaction. And I think everything that we just listed is definitely how you're going to do that um

Speaker: Yeah, I'm not going to go into the next section that i wrote down because I think that's going to come a little bit later. So we're just going to land there. So create genuine connection, remember details, listen, personalize the experience, follow through, create trust and safety, and make clients feel like they are more than a transaction. Essentially, what I would encourage you guys to do is treat your clients like they're your best friends.

Speaker: Every single time. And, you know, one thing that I've learned from Colette, who is one of my mentors, is she says, make them feel like every time is the first time, you know, and so as you grow this clientele, as you continue seeing your clients, Don't slip on those things just because you have a relationship with them. So make them feel special every single time. Make every time feel like the first time and make them feel like they're your best friends and not just a transaction in the business.

Speaker: Which has me thinking because we do do become friends with a lot of our clients, especially our clients that we've been seeing for years. And so I think that's more important even in those circumstances realize maintain that level of professionalism with your clients who are your friends. because I have several clients who are very near and dear to my heart and will text on the side. But when they're in my treatment room, I'm still like, I'm still the professional. They are still, I'm still here to serve them in a very deep level. And so I don't slack on those things, but that is something that

Speaker: I wanted to just highlight because it can be easy to slip, like you said, yeah because you're so comfortable with them and they're so comfortable with you. And I think it is even more important and a deeper level of service and professionalism when you can still maintain that professionalism with your near and dear clients who are your friends?

Speaker: So I'll give you real tangible, you know, ex money examples. Someone that I have worked with as an eminent spa partner for about seven years now, um I watched her business really start to slip. She became extremely complacent Because she has this successful clientele, her books are always full. And so I was having ah a difficult time figuring out what was going on with her numbers. And it just wasn't making a lot of sense to me. Until I went in for a hands-on training and I was working on one of her her clients who, you know, BTW, all of her clients have become quote unquote, very good friends now because that is what happens. And her client was telling me that she had had this reaction to a sample and,

Speaker: we had this whole conversation about it. And then, you know, this esthetician had no idea, like none of this information was even shared with her. That really keyed me into the amount of complacency that had started to happen. So then my goal or our goal together was how do we get out of this complacency? Because all of the foundations has started to slip because she was such good friends with her clients. And she was like, not even offering retail anymore. She really thought that her clients, because they were such good friends would reach out to her when they needed to buy. And so there was just all of these areas that had really slipped and kind of dragged her business down. because she was such good friends with everyone that it put her in this state of complacency. Now, the last time that I saw her, I think her business is growing with us at like over 70% right now. Like her numbers shot through the roof because she was part of our last mastermind group. And we had already started working together to identify the areas of complacency. And so rebuilding

Speaker: those foundations and understanding what Tiffany's saying is like, yes, these are very good friends to me. i do have personal relationships with them now because we're women that is going to happen. Yeah. And yeah,

Speaker: I still have a job to do. I'm still the professional, you know, I'm still creating the service. I'm offering the retail. I'm asking, I'm still doing the same consultation. I'm still like, you have to do those things. And it's also, and and so it's been so cool to watch her,

Speaker: merge those two worlds back together. Like, yes, we can be friends and I'm the professional and they're coming to me with open, like their pocketbooks, like they're still spending the money to be here. So I need to make sure that I am still offering them that same level of service and watching her business skyrocket. And not only that, but she's so oh happy. She's so fulfilled now. She's so happy. She it's like really reignited her passion for her work and for her business because it's moved her out of that state of complacency. And so it's been such a cool experience and it's so, so important to learn how to do that.

Speaker: Very cool. Okay. Do you want to take on number three? Yes. Okay. Successful estheticians invest in themselves.

Speaker: A successful esthetician continuously will develop not just technically, but personally and professionally. And so by investing in yourself, that means that you're not of the mindset where, okay, you're a licensed esthetician, you've got your your education, and so now you're good. We're just continuously evolving. We never...

Speaker: get to the mindset of like, we know it all. We don't ever want to get there, right? And so investing in yourself can mean advanced continuing education, taking continuing education courses, however those look for you, um perfecting your skill through other CE courses or classes or information. It can also look like business development,

Speaker: you know Learning how to be a better business owner, if you are a solo esthetician, it can also look like helping support the business that you're working for. If you're an employee working for somebody else and having that mindset of like, okay, no matter what type of esthetician I am, If the business succeeds, I succeed. And so looking at it from that mindset of like, okay, say you're an employee and I don't just work for a business and I get to clock in and clock out and do my job and then get to leave. And yes, that is true. But at the same time, like, because you work for this company, you want the business itself to succeed as much as possible to be able to have great, um,

Speaker: um a great team and great profits and great all of those things. And so how can you then come at it with that mindset and attitude of what can you do to help support the business or help support support the owner of the business? um Investing in yourself can also look like learning communication and sales. And what I'm gonna add onto that, learning that sales is actually service, which we're gonna talk about in a little bit.

Speaker: But also, like we just just talked about, learning how to communicate, learning to become a better communicator and, um, letting that perfect itself as you really work on that for itself. It can also look like personal development. And this is kind of going back to that conversation in the beginning of this episode of, um, I don't know what's coming to mind for me is just working on your own shit. um,

Speaker: And really he um understanding again that your personal development drives your professional development as well as your physical development and your spiritual development. All of those things are definitely connected. But the personal side of things really is how we build a beautiful life and then have this really beautiful, fulfilling career that fits inside of this beautiful life. They're not separate, right? We can't just like build, build, build this career and then expect our personal life to...

Speaker: be fulfilled and to be everything we want it to be if we're also not giving our time and attention and energy to it as well.

Speaker: Investing in yourself can look like confidence, working on your confidence. And I think that confidence piece goes back to mastering your skill and mastering where you are right now.

Speaker: and, and, and always trying to strive to be like better, I think, and and to to b be more evolved and more developed in all of those things. um Investing in yourself can also look like leadership. And leadership has so many different types of roles. So many. You can be a leader in your space for your team. You can be a leader for yourself. You can be a leader for your family. and You can be a leader in your community. You can be a leader

Speaker: on social media, like there's there's no right or wrong way to be a leader. And being a leader for me personally, I know, is how i helped feel my confidence as well. So I really do think that confidence and leadership um are very deeply connected. Investing in yourself can also look like mentorship. And so when we are masters of our craft or our of our career or where we're at, that can very seamlessly and easily develop into a mentorship role. And that can look ah a ton of different ways too. You can be a mentor for the team that you work with. You can be a mentor even for your own clients, I think. um Mentorship roles can develop there. You can be a mentor for

Speaker: board You know, you can develop your own continuing education courses. You can go talk at schools. You can go be a mentor your high school community. I mean, there's just it's endless opportunity there.

Speaker: and investing in yourself can also look like learning how to create better experiences. um And so that can look for your own and client experience. It can look like life experience, I think, for you personally and for your personal life. um i think those are endless as well. So the key takeaway here is your growth that determines your capacity for growth, which I love that so much. And so if we are always striving to grow, if we're always striving to evolve, if we're always pouring into ourself in one way or another, um then our capacity for growth is just going to continue.

Speaker: And that's how we evolve. And that's how we Um, I really do think that's how we reach our big dreams and goals is through that, through that personal growth and through that, that mindset of continuing to always want to be better and always wanting to grow. And I think that also can look like therapy, you know, yeah like, um, you know, hiring your own mentor, like Tiffany has a business coach that said, that's, I think, uh, don't, don't be afraid to

Speaker: hire a coach or a mentor or go to therapy or, you know, all of that really does work together. That's why like, you know, nervous system, like learn about your nervous system um you know, your spirituality, learn about energy work. All of that does pour back into our careers as estheticians. So I think that there's like, So many different things to look at and so many different opportunities for that personal growth that will trickle into your career growth for sure.

Speaker: Absolutely. Number four, a successful esthetician has standards and work ethics. So this is about doing the things that aren't always glamorous. So showing up.

Speaker: Number one, we got to show up. And I would say like show up early, right. Follow through staying consistent, keeping your word, taking pride in your work. And that also means to me, like taking responsibility, maintaining professionalism, doing the little things well, and we don't need, they don't need someone constantly watching them. so you know, they're the same person and holding the same standards and working really hard, whether there's somebody there watching them or not, which basically just means that they have radical self accountability.

Speaker: um So for an employee that can look like becoming the person your employer knows that they can count on. And you guys, that is more important than you can even imagine i would not be where I am today if I didn't become that person first. And for a solo esthetician, that is about becoming the person you know you can count on. you know, it's like, do you know, like, do you have that level of self-trust with yourself? and So the key takeaway ah here is your work ethic becomes part of your reputation. Absolutely. Yeah.

Speaker: And your reputation will always precede you. Yes, it will. Preced you. Yes. umm number five, successful estheticians know how to think long-term they play the long game.

Speaker: So a successful esthetician isn't just constantly chasing the next quick, so quick fix. They're really building something that will compound over time. And so again, this goes back to relationships, reputation, your expertise, confidence, financial stability. Yes, that's a piece of it. And then loyalty as well.

Speaker: And so understanding that one slow week doesn't mean that you're necessarily failing. And one fully booked month also doesn't mean that you've like arrived. And again, this comes, this makes me think that like there, there really is no arrival.

Speaker: I, I had to work on that. i always like thought, that, okay. And again, I already said this when I get here, that means I've arrived. That means I've made it right. And then life is going to be easy. I'm going to be happy. Everything's going work out. going to have so much money. And that's just like, I don't know. I don't think that's the whole point of this life in general. I don't think there is an arrival. I think that there is a constant and I used to, and honest honestly, I'm going to be really honest here that the thought of that used to exhaust me because I was in, i think a nervous system state of like,

Speaker: climbing this steep, steep mountain and being freaking exhausted. And so I had it in my mind, like, okay, I'm going to peak and then it's going to be good. But then I would peak and there'd be a bigger mountain that I couldn't see.

Speaker: and so going back to that investment in yourself, going to therapy, having a business coach, pouring into myself in different ways and redefining success on my terms that really is connected with my values.

Speaker: has made me realize like, it's just part of the journey and I'm going to enjoy the ride and I'm going to work really hard and I'm going to play harder. And now I don't feel exhausted by the the thought of like, okay, there really is no peak.

Speaker: It's just exciting to like play this long game. And that's the whole point of life, I think. Evolving. It's evolving and growing and learning and, and like failure doesn't mean that you've,

Speaker: Or like setbacks don't mean you failed. That's they's just such an opportunity, right? To grow even deeper and grow even better. And so i don't know. I just see it all as opportunity. i just have these rose colored glasses on that I love so much. Or maybe I took my rose colored glasses off. However you want to look at that.

Speaker: And like I can see clearer, but it feels so peaceful. And I'm not exhausted by the journey. I'm like, man, I'm so excited. I'm 40 and I can't wait for the next 40 plus years. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. so see what comes Yeah. Thinking long-term I think is really important Um,

Speaker: I think thinking long-term also helps you to know, ah like I'm thinking about solo estheticians who want to make big investments or like that, you know, when they say, you know, not constantly chasing the next quick fix, it's that also means like really question the trends that you're seeing and whether or not they're even a good fit for you in your business. Cause it is so easy to have that like shiny object syndrome and very often We see people get really um upside down, even financially, because they've made all these investments and they're spreading their attention and energy so thin instead of like really keeping the long term or the the bigger vision in mind. And so that was another thing that came to mind for me, like don't

Speaker: you know, go down all these side roads because they look really cool or like really popular, really keep that long-term goal in mind, which can also mean, again, like coming back to your definition of success. Yeah. And so again, why number one is so important. You really do have to know what that is for you. And then when things like that come up, that shiny object object syndrome or whatever it is, then you can really ask yourself and have that conversation Conversation like, does this support support the long game? Does this support my vision? Or is it just really sexy and everybody else is doing it and I feel like I have to do it too to succeed. And so those are those side roads that can really lead you off kilter or lead you just off the main path.

Speaker: Yeah. you Turned up upside down really quickly. I'm really glad that you brought that up really quick, which, you know, the financial stability piece I think is really, really important. Um, I think as an esthetician honestly, just as a human having financial literacy, which is something I'm still working on, um, to make sure that part of that long game, regardless of where you're at in your career, that you are like setting your money aside and learning about investing and, um,

Speaker: Looking even at like I loved in the last episode when we were talking about commissions and like, hey, if you want to go on this trip, you know, here's how you can do it. And like really learning the financial piece and how all of these little things in your career really do add up. to meeting those long-term or even short-term financial goals. But the financial stability piece, I think, is really important. I really admire people who have a lot of financial literacy and who are really good with their money um in many different ways, whether or not that is their savings account or always paying off their credit cards or the way that they invest their money. And so i do encourage just everybody, especially women, i think that um learning the financial literacy piece is really important. and I wish I would have been better, you know, 20 years ago, because now I'm 40 and I'm starting at ground zero, but which is still good. Like it's still totally fine. But, you know, this is a career and we are here to make money. And a lot of that is...

Speaker: creating a certain life that we want. That doesn't even have to mean that it's making a ton of money. I make far less money than I was making two and a half years ago, you know, but I'm like happier, you know, than I've ever been. And I really just want to be more smart with my money is really my goal now. Right. And so, um, yeah, the financial literacy piece I think is really important for women to really think about and to not shame around.

Speaker: So number six is probably exactly what you think it's going to be. is a successful esthetician masters the foundation. So this really could be one of the most important points of this entire episode. So before constantly adding another certification, treatment, device, product line,

Speaker: marketing strategy and other social media trends, we really want to stop and ask ourselves, have we really mastered the foundations? So those are going to be client experience, consultations, retail, rebooking, follow-up, everything that we just really, really drive home.

Speaker: consistently. So, um, I mean, again, if anything, like Google is far more important than even social media. So just making sure that you're, you're the work that you're putting in and your focus, your attention, your energy is on the foundations because those truly are the things that are going to build your career. And I think client experience that also ties in like the communication and the connection piece. So those really do have to be first and foremost in your career. And so if there's one of those things that you're feeling uncomfortable with, like rebooking is really common, struggling with retail sales is really common.

Speaker: We do invite you into my Aligned Foundations course where I do a super, super deep dive on all of those things to really change your approach And how you're even feeling in your body and like what's coming up for you that's holding you back from these things. Because one thing that I do find really, um i think i'm unfortunate, maybe the term that I, I don't know.

Speaker: we love this career so much. Like we have poured ourselves into this career and we love being an esthetician, yet those foundational things are your success and they can be the most uncomfortable. And so it really is worth putting the time and energy into those things versus putting your time and energy into marketing and social media and another certification and another device and more training. Like those things are great, but they're so secondary to just mastering those foundations and getting into depth about why you're struggling with them so that you really can fix it once and for all so that we can have a more cohesive, fulfilling career all the way around. You know, that you're not like going to work every day, stressing out about the fact that you have retail sales goals to meet or something, you know, like that that is really hard as an esthetician is that, um,

Speaker: Yeah, just exactly what I just said. Those things are are the foundation of your success. And that does apply whether you're employed or solo, you know, so you really don't necessarily need more of anything. Like before you go looking for the next thing to grow your business or to grow your career, make sure you've really mastered the things that are already sitting right in front of you. Don't keep avoiding those things. Face them head off.

Speaker: on Face them face first, head on, figure it out so that you can enjoy every single piece of your career. I think everybody deserves that.

Speaker: Well, and the the fact that something's uncomfortable for you is your indicator that you do need to face it head on and really work on it. Because it and it it can be so easy to avoid those uncomfy things that are really don't maybe come naturally to you or that you really do struggle with. That is your indicator. So if you are listening to this and you're like, okay, I really do hate rebooking my clients. It's so uncomfortable. I feel like i am making my client uncomfortable. That is your sign. We are going to challenge you right here, right now to really face that head on and figure out how to navigate that because the navigate mastering those foundations are what is going to fuel your career long-term and help keep it sustainable. So you don't burn out. So you don't wake up and dread going to work so that you don't have to completely just like do a whole career shift. later down the road. Like we want, we know that if you're here listening to this conversation, we know that you love this career too. You love being an aesthetician and we want you to continue to love it and evolve and grow with it so that it serves your life even better. and

Speaker: so that you're happy and you can achieve those deep feelings of peace and freedom and all of the things that your soul really wants. It really does start with the foundations so that you can have a sustainable long-term career that you love.

Speaker: And I think the best piece of advice that I could give you is it's really a mindset shift. It's really about understanding that rebooking and retail sales and those follow-up messages are an extension of what we offer in the treatment room. They're not separate from it And if you understand masculine and feminine energy, that will help you understand what's happening in your brain because Most estheticians, all estheticians that I've ever worked with, when I ask them what their why is, it's always something to the effect of like, I want to help people feel more confident or you know, want to, it's, it's,

Speaker: It's something revolving around femininity, like our feminine desire to help people and to serve people. And then we get in the treatment room and we have the quiet music and we're making people's skin beautiful and we're playing with all these products. And it's like just that very feminine, beautiful piece of us And then we think of retail sales, rebooking, and those follow-ups, and sometimes even consultations. We see those as being very masculine energy because they are very systematized.

Speaker: And the problem with that is that we get into this career to serve that feminine desire. And so we lean so hard into how much we love the services that we're offering, even if it's waxing, yeah so even if it's makeup, it's, it's very, very feminine And then we're being asked to do something very masculine, which isn't why we got into this career in the first place. It isn't the energy we were looking to serve. And so I'm here to challenge your thinking that those are actually all the same thing. And we can...

Speaker: bring that feminine energy into those systems and make that work very cohesively together. Because while yes, the systems are a masculine thing, i'm I love the blending of masculine and feminine. And so if you can see that that feminine energy that you have for the services and for your client and for what you're doing in the treatment room is actually a part of all of those systems too, then that can help you bring a more cohesive energy into them. Like truly, if you want to help people with their skin and to help people feel more confident, then we know skincare is eighty twenty So they're going to need to have those products at home. So you're really continuing the service, right? Same with rebooking. Like you want to get your services about every four weeks. so that we can and help you reach your goals together. So that is still very feminine. it's still very much part of what you're doing in the treatment room. And and so it's just a mindset shift for a lot of people that as soon as you can see the sales as a service and you see the rebooking as helping people and they like, they really do like, I need you to prebook me.

Speaker: yeah You need to like, you need to do that for me. on Everything will feel more cohesive and there will be such a better flow and a better feeling. Literally, even just talking about it, everything in my body just changed. Like I can just feel this beautiful, warm, fuzzy,

Speaker: like Sounds crazy, but like almost ah orgasmic, like beautiful energy because I'm like, yes, this is what I'm here for. This is what i love. and And we want to carry that beautiful feminine energy into those more quote unquote masculine systems. so that we can feel that cohesiveness and that love is really probably the term I'm looking for. Like my body's tingling with so much love, just thinking about helping you carry that energy over into those things, because it truly like, it's not fair for you to have to struggle with those things. It's, it's not fair. I don't want it for anybody. And it really is just the way that we're thinking about it and the energy that we're bringing to it. yeah,

Speaker: Look at those things as an extension of what you're doing in the treatment room. We already know you love what you're doing in the treatment room. We just need to carry that over. And again, there's a million reasons why we struggle with those things. And that's like, I really do break all of that down in that course. But I think at the end of the day, that's my best piece of advice is where to start.

Speaker: is just starting to switch your mindset and your energy and just seeing both of these flow together. And and one thing that we've used as an example before is like when you think about a river and the water flowing through the riverbed is so beautiful and it's flowing and it's just doing its thing, but you really do have to have the boundary of the riverbed and to make that water flow beautifully. And that's just masculine and feminine energy working together. We really do want to have both of them working cohesively. And so if you really think about it, that's kind of the struggle that we all have is like this masculine feminine, you know, issue, or we're seeing the services and the the sales and whatever, the pre-booking as being two completely different things, but they just aren't. They just aren't two different things.

Speaker: They're just not. They're not. no That was so beautifully said.

Speaker: There you go. I don't have anything to add. That was beautiful. Yeah. Well, you know, that's, that's where to start. That's where it really, it starts in your mind. it starts in your, in your energy. So, you know, we really would challenge you to think about which of these six areas would change your career the most if you really mastered it. So just go back through all of those six points. I'm going to read them again. And again, they're going to be in the show notes. So a successful esthetician takes ownership of their career. They master client relationships.

Speaker: They invest in themselves. They think long-term and they master the foundations. I missed one. Number four was they have standards and work ethic. So think about all of those areas and think about which one you feel like would change your career the most if you took some time to master it.

Speaker: And then just be sure that you're not thinking you have to overhaul everything this week. Just pick one and commit to becoming exceptional at it And then, you know, just revisit this episode whenever you need, which is such a good point too. We have to check in with ourselves.

Speaker: You've got to learn how, how to do that in for you specifically, like what, what works well for you when it comes to having that check-in with yourself. Yeah. and I don't know, getting to know yourself, know what, what fuels you know, what uncovering what your purpose is. If you just still aren't quite sure knowing your why, like it's just really getting to know your deep self and connecting with your higher self. And so there's many, many resources in this or all place on this earth that will serve you specifically for that. And again, i think, um, being able to connect with your deeper self means that you don't have to have that outside validation, you know, and nobody's going to come in and do it for you either. So

Speaker: Yeah. It's a really beautiful process. Highly recommend it. Um, you know, some other things might come up for you too, and that's okay. That's the point. And, um, yeah, just enjoy the ride.

Speaker: Absolutely. And we would invite you into our membership community. If you're not in there already, it's just such ah such a beautiful space of connection. The live calls are amazing. We talked a lot about that on our last episode.

Speaker: And also the continuing education is just really where it's at. So starting, September 1st, so about a week, uh, from this episode where you guys are listening right now, about a week after that, we're starting the, you know, quote unquote series on women's wellness and supporting skin through those hormonal changes. And that's going to have a hormone component and nutrition component. We've invited and hired a couple of different people to to do that. And it could take more than a month. We're going to see what we're presented with and then organize it accordingly because it is such a huge subject. So

Speaker: Currently, what's in there for continuing education is a peptide class. Tiffany's elevated dermaplane course, which is like either you're learning dermaplane or we're going to take it to the next level. And then we have a very, very, very thorough vitamin c course. And, uh, my facial massage video, my instructional facial massage is live in the membership right now. So if you're a member, you get that for free and, uh, that's really powerful. That's like 22 years of my obsession with facial massage.

Speaker: And then we have that coming September 1st. So that's very exciting. um And then, of course, the membership is your place to stay connected to estheticians, which is, um you know, through our live calls, but we also have the connection lounge. And so we have people in there almost every single day. asking questions, big questions, small questions, and even just sharing what is going on with them in their personal life and how that's affecting their career. That's one thing that I i honestly really appreciate, like especially, you know, one of our members has aging parents that she's really struggling with. And so she's not afraid to get in there and talk about like, here's what's going on at work. Here's what's happening in my personal life and how I'm trying to like balance that. And so the connection lounge is for everything. And we really appreciate appreciate having that space. And one thing we talked about a lot on our last episode was. the power of connecting with a community that is like-minded and of like energy, which kind of goes back to what we were saying earlier in the episode about watching who you're taking advice from, surrounding yourself from. um is it evolving conversations? Is it really what you want to be around? And I think that we talked so much last time about that being our favorite thing about the membership is you really do know that you're getting good advice from people who have the experience and the same energy and the the like-mindedness of you. So it's not random that you're getting answers from people that you truly know nothing about. And that's also the point of us being in there moderating everything as well. But so far, we actually haven't ran into anything weird. We're getting ideas from our members. But I'm just like, oh my goodness.

Speaker: this is a great thought process. Thank you. Or like, oh, wow, I actually have never heard of, you know, this um this technique or like this thought process before, like, let's talk more about that. So it is more evolved conversations. And so we definitely know that we have the right people in there because we've never ran into being like, oh Yeah. Say that or like, Oh, don't, uh, nope, that's not. Yeah. So I think that's really, really cool. And then there is an extra podcast episode every single month.

Speaker: So you're always getting an extra podcast episode in there too. And then of course discounts on merch and And stuff like that. So there is so much value in that membership for just $47 a month. You know, it's really shaping you as an esthetician, as a person, helping you make more money, educating you. It's true truly like a one-stop business. shop and we're continuing to progress with that all the time. So we would love to have you in there. If you're not in there already, there's a link in the show notes for you to learn more about it and for you to, you know, join. There's also all of the links in the link tree on the podcast page.

Speaker: Instagram. So I've got a really thorough link tree in there. We've got the Google class. We've got the Aligned Foundations class. We have all of the links are in there for you too. um And so also, if you are not a member, you can purchase the vitamin C decoded class. And you will soon be able to, if it's not already available by the time that you're listening to this, you will be able to purchase the facial massage, potentially the peptide class too. I just need to transfer all that information over. as well as the dermaplane class. well as the dermaplane. So just give us time because...

Speaker: we have to turn it into a course and we didn't do that initially. And so we have to take all of those things and then just put it into a different section and have those resources and stuff added in there differently than we are able to give you access to by that independently from joining the membership. But your most value you is becoming a member because you get so much more and it's so much cheaper um And then you also get to to join our community and be inside there and have so much love and support.

Speaker: um But yeah, you you do have, you will have options either way. Yeah, definitely. Anything else to add before we wrap up? don't think so. This was a great conversation. yeah um and yeah, we just encourage you to to to take these practices to heart.

Speaker: to Like Jess said, revisit them as often as you need to. And then also to just keep coming back to us. We're so grateful for you. We're so grateful for you tuning in and having these conversations with us. And we would love your rating and review on the show, wherever you listen to your podcast at, whether it's Apple Podcasts or Spotify. It really does mean so much to us. We love it when you share your key takeaways on your socials and tag us so we for sure can see them. And it really does help us continue to come back and continue these conversations and to grow our podcast community here. And, um,

Speaker: Yeah. And it helps us know when we're on the right track, when we hear back from you. It's true. Yes. We love and appreciate you all so much. Have pretty dreams and we will see you guys in the next episode.

Speaker: Bye. Bye.
