00:00:26
Speaker
Hello and welcome everybody to another episode of the Uncommon Wealth Podcast where I'm your host Philip Ramsey and today i thought we'd have a fun perspective change and uncommon view to be able to help people realize that sometimes what you want might not be exactly the best thing for you.
00:00:43
Speaker
I don't know if that's the total thing that I'm trying to grab here, but this all comes from, let me just read the the highlight and then we'll talk about this.
Worrying About Money as a Blessing
00:00:52
Speaker
But I wanna kind of title this one is the joy of worrying about your money.
00:00:58
Speaker
So if you're up, if you're worrying about your money, maybe it's a ah blessing. Let's talk more about that. Okay, so here is the ah the headline I
Elon Musk: A Trillionaire's Stress
00:01:09
Speaker
On June 12th, 2026, two thousand twenty six When SpaceX began trading on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol SPCX, Elon Musk became the first person in recorded history to reach the net worth exceeding $1 trillion. dollars
00:01:28
Speaker
At that valuation, Musk's future was nearly four times larger than the second wealthiest person on earth. Okay, so first off trillion dollars hard to even grasp what that is But I've heard it said like this if you were to spend a million dollars a day when Jesus was born Until today you would still have 700 years left to spend that million dollars a day That's what trillion dollars looks like Okay, so when you have
00:02:09
Speaker
No worries about money.
Financial Constraints and Growth
00:02:11
Speaker
I feel like that breeds in more complications than you would ever realize. And I think it's more of a blessing to worry about money, budget smartly, maybe wait till next month to buy something, than it would be to have no limit on whatever money you want.
00:02:29
Speaker
You don't like something? Go buy it. You don't want to do this? Then pay somebody else to do it. I think that there's there's complications and I think there's blessings in, or maybe lack of blessings when you don't have to worry about money. And it almost puts you in this area where I am so powerful that I can do whatever I want.
00:02:53
Speaker
Now, the thing that I think is interesting about Elon Musk is that he... still has a lot of stresses. And out of all the people in the world, he might be the wealthiest, but he's one of the most leveraged people on this planet.
00:03:07
Speaker
So if you think about his wealth, it's not that he can just go to a bank account and just it's $1 trillion, could you imagine? But it's it's more of, I have to keep this flywheel spinning or else we have a problem.
00:03:21
Speaker
yeah And the amount of stress that carries, unbelievable, unbelievable. so When I'm thinking about just worry about money or or anxious about maybe maybe anxious is the right word but thinking I have to budget wisely, have to be smart, I have to be wise with the my money.
The Joy and Privilege of Financial Wisdom
00:03:42
Speaker
I feel like that could be a blessing if you think about the opposite where money is no object. It's all just funny money anyway. You can do whatever you want. I think it's it's an issue.
00:03:58
Speaker
What being wise with money actually looks like? Okay, I think that the client who worries or worried about spending too much money dining out will also discover that they're honestly more happy when they get to go dine out.
00:04:14
Speaker
The client who worried that their savings isn't enough discover that they never given their themselves so permission to feel secure. So it can uncover the cracks that people have and maybe not thinking...
00:04:28
Speaker
i don't know, smartly or wisely about the money that they have. They get an opportunity to look at their money very differently. Where Elon, this example, doesn't have to worry about that at all and can continue to do whatever he wants. It exposes or doesn't expose things that maybe God's trying to reveal in people who are a little bit more worried about their
Money as God's Resource
00:04:50
Speaker
money. Okay, so I think there's a privilege that we have to be wise and we have to budget our money.
00:04:59
Speaker
We have to be very strategic on how we spend our money and we get to experience the joys of saving something and then purchasing something. And again, at the end of the day, this all money is fleeting anyway. It's not ours to even even be excited about it' the Lord's, in my opinion, that might not be yours, but it's us it's a time for us to steward the resources that God has given to us. We can be generous.
00:05:25
Speaker
He can definitely be generous. I'm not saying that he's not. But he has different level of worry that I think that is keeping him up at night where I sleep pretty good. Although I have some questions about how things are going to get paid, I'm dependent on the Lord and I get to feel that dependence and my faith grow because it might not be readily available for me to pay or spend.
00:05:48
Speaker
Okay, so that's my that's my kind of podcast on looking a little bit different about your money. And so if you are struggling and you're worried, I think that you have to look at the other side.
00:06:01
Speaker
And yeah, money might be great for a while, and it might cover up some things, but at the end of the day, like we get the joy of understanding that money isn't gonna be where our joy comes from.
Gratitude and Financial Challenges
00:06:14
Speaker
It's something else, far different. And I'm telling you, I would not trade places with Elon Musk right now, because I am so grateful for the life I get to live, for the challenges and worries that I get to think about financially, and the way that the Lord's going to show up for me every day on the times where I just have to get on my knees and be like, I don't know how to handle this. So that's the podcast.
