We conducted this interview a few years ago. We decided to bring it back now. It is a valuable discussion on how law enforcement can be helpful years after horrible crimes have taken place. This is worth an investment of your time.

J R Waltemyer is a valuable contact at the Office of Victim Advocate (OVA) in Pennsylvania. OVA is the state agency with the authority and duty to advocate for the rights and needs of crime victims.

OVA accomplishes their mission through victim services, which includes post-sentencing notifications of offender status and movements within the Department of Corrections and the parole system; restorative justice programs that promote resilience and healing; and they are currently developing new initiatives around crime prevention.

OVA envisions a Pennsylvania in which justice thrives. They collaborate closely with fellow state agencies and community groups to develop and promote trauma informed programs.

You will find this episode useful if you want to know how the system works to help all survivors of violent crimes.
