Introduction & Podcast Format

Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to part two of the Forest Newcastle, Newcastle Forest crossover podcast. My name is still Ian Mackay. This is still the Daily Newcastle. I am still hosting.
00:00:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
But after three hours, we have given up trying to get Marley to speak for any longer than what you've already heard. That was the longest we managed. And although I've talked to him about the rest of the stuff that we were going to talk to, um it's just going to be me.
00:00:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
doing a solo crossover podcast. I know it's so philosophically wrong, but what can you do? um I think we had just about got through to the end of part one, which means that I should start this with this.
00:01:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
right now and welcome back. This is part two, although don't feel it's confusing.

Team Line-ups & Injury Updates

00:01:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, what we were going to talk about, what we did talk about, but what we were going to talk about was injuries and suspensions and the possible line-up for the Newcastle Forest game tomorrow. um I hope Eddie Howe picks the same team as he had on Thursday night at USG, with the exception of substituting Lewis Hawley in at left back for Dan Byrne.
00:01:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Give Dan Byrne some time off. um
00:01:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's my guess. That's what I hope we can do. um One thing which I do know is that there will be no Wisser for quite some time. He's an extended prognosis on his extent of his knee injury.
00:02:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
A further two weeks. He's probably coming back to start in November. But the good news is that Jacob Ramsey has been training and he is fit to take a place on the bench. So we might see even more than the 40 minutes we've already seen of Jacob Ramsey. and Fingers crossed.
00:02:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fingers crossed. Forrest don't suddenly discover themselves as the attacking force that Postacoglu dreams that they are. And we are three or four goals up after an hour. And Ramsey can come on and show us what he can do.
00:02:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that was the yeah Newcastle bid. I don't think we've got any more injuries. and what I did hear from Marley though is that Douglas Luiz Zinchenko and Aina are all definitely out and Murillo who has been injured but came back and played in their game against Midgieland but went off so they don't know about him they don't know whether he'll be fit enough to come in now in a way
00:03:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
I kind of hope he is fit enough to come in because when he came in, Bostokoglu played with three at the back. And I do think that we play very well against teams that have got three at the back and wingbacks because we can get in behind them. and But without Murillo, the back two are not going to be um as robust.
00:03:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think... Milenkovic is a fantastic player. I'm not sure about Morata. Still not sure about Morata. So, so
00:03:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
There's some Cheryl stuff going on on the computer, side so I just had a complete wipe out there. I'll have to try and remove that in the mix, as they say.

Key Players to Watch

00:04:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:04:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
We talked a little bit about the transfer market with him. He is a big fan of Aqua. He says he's a great player. He's been in good form. He said that you need to look out for Nico Williams, who's been in great form this year.
00:04:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
It might actually end up marking Alanga, which would be interesting. ah Igor Jesus is somebody who you need to look out for, although I think Chris Wood will probably play centre-forward, but Jesus might come on.
00:04:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
He scored twice against and Betis and twice against Swansea in the Carabao Cup.
00:04:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've got another wipeout here, so I'm just pretending that nothing's happening. Did you notice that? No, good. um
00:05:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and obviously he said Murillo and Milenkovic are always worth watching at ah at a set piece. But, you know, we've dealt with them before. um I don't know what's happening here.
00:05:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's listen to this.
00:05:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
What a nightmare this broadcast has been, although it's delightful to be able to

Match Predictions & Tactics Discussion

00:05:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
talk to you, of course. and if you've stuck this far. Thank you very much indeed. You must be desperate to know what our predictions are. um My prediction is a comfortable Newcastle win.
00:05:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm hoping that we have that ah confidence that we showed away USG and we can bring that in to start shut start quickly. um I'd be more than happy to fall one up at half time like we were last year.
00:05:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah One thing that Marley couldn't get over is that Antipostokoglu is trying to play a very attack-minded game, pressing quite high, playing through the middle with a team who would far rather be soaking up some pressure and and bringing Newcastle onto to them and then hitting them on the break in transition, which is what they got all of their success last year with.
00:06:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
and But they haven't looked like doing that. And in fact, they're not very good at playing through teams through the middle, which is why Marley sounded so depressed.
00:06:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah So I guess I'm hoping that we will start strong and we will score a couple of goals and make it easy for us. Because I don't think for us there were any other way of playing other than the way that will let us in.
00:06:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
and So I'm going to go for a very modest, and the first time this season I have predicted this, three one win for Newcastle. Marley's guess, suggestion, which you could accept as he's five-hour coach journey back home from St. James' Park, is 3-0 loss.
00:07:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Newcastle to win 3-0. You know, we've got to bump up the goal difference, haven't we? That's what I'm saying.

Podcast Technicalities & Conclusion

00:07:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, I have had the fifth time blacked out here I'm not even going to try and continue with this.
00:07:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
We've got our crossover podcast out, so there's something coming out. Thank you very much for listening. Apologies for how awful technically this has been. It might even get pulled at the end, I don't know.
00:07:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
But we will be back. Michael will be back straight after the game with his um immediate post-batch reaction. So we'll enjoy that. We'll see you all soon.
