Josh's Excitement for Jaws Pinball
00:00:07
Speaker
Thanks for tuning into loser kid pinball podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker
We're on episode one 35.
00:00:11
Speaker
I'm Josh Roop with me as always my co-captain Scott Larson.
00:00:15
Speaker
And I can't believe I messed that up last week.
00:00:19
Speaker
Hey, but don't you have a game coming here, Josh?
00:00:23
Speaker
I just got the call from FedEx this morning.
00:00:25
Speaker
Anywhere from 12 to four at my house on Monday.
00:00:30
Speaker
Jaws premium bought it from flipping out.
00:00:32
Speaker
Hey, if you guys ever buy from flipping out, tell Zach to stuff one of these shirts.
00:00:36
Speaker
If you're on YouTube, you can still have them tell him I want to flip an out shirt and he will put one in the box.
00:00:41
Speaker
I have mine upstairs.
00:00:42
Speaker
I totally, I should have put it on for tonight.
00:00:44
Speaker
You're, you're representing.
00:00:47
Speaker
I think this, I'm not gonna lie.
00:00:48
Speaker
This is like my first time representing flipping out on the, on the stream, on the video.
00:00:53
Speaker
Well, I do wear the shirt.
00:00:54
Speaker
I just, you know, I have a lot, I have a lot of pinball shirts.
00:00:58
Speaker
My wife actually wears this shirt a lot more than I do.
00:01:00
Speaker
She steals it all the time.
00:01:01
Speaker
She represents Philippine Out.
00:01:03
Speaker
And honestly, she's better looking than me.
00:01:05
Speaker
So people are going to look at that shirt a lot more on her than on me.
00:01:08
Speaker
It's probably true.
00:01:08
Speaker
It's probably true.
Comparing Jaws Premium and Pro
00:01:13
Speaker
And it's the premium.
00:01:15
Speaker
You got the premium?
00:01:16
Speaker
It is the premium.
00:01:18
Speaker
So why did you choose the premium?
00:01:19
Speaker
So I played the pro and don't get me wrong.
00:01:21
Speaker
The pro is a good game.
00:01:22
Speaker
It's fun game, but I played the premium and it just felt next level.
00:01:27
Speaker
It made the premium or the pro feel like it was, it was like a location game.
00:01:32
Speaker
Like a location game.
00:01:33
Speaker
Something about, you know, I thought it would be kind of silly.
00:01:36
Speaker
The, the shark coming out and like, it's only like a one hit wonder, right?
00:01:39
Speaker
Like no, no pun intended or whatever.
00:01:42
Speaker
Uh, but no, that shark adds some depth.
00:01:45
Speaker
Add some strategy there.
00:01:49
Speaker
And it's... I like the expansion of rules that Keith is doing.
00:01:56
Speaker
And it feels more akin to a Godzilla rule set than anything else he's done.
00:02:01
Speaker
And so... And I like... So the thing I really like... I don't know if anyone out there has played Jaws Premium yet.
00:02:07
Speaker
I really like, well, it's on the pro too, uh, the bounty hunts.
00:02:11
Speaker
So you can start a bounty hunt and it's playing in the background.
00:02:13
Speaker
So it's like, get so many pop bumpers, get so many spinners hits, you know, get so many ramps.
00:02:19
Speaker
And you can tell everybody, remind everybody who haven't played it.
00:02:22
Speaker
What do the bounties do?
00:02:23
Speaker
So the bounties give rewards and they say on the screen what they are, but you can kind of like, if you complete a bounty, you get like
00:02:33
Speaker
40 million points depending on the difficulty of the bounty you go for.
00:02:36
Speaker
But you're going after sharks.
00:02:38
Speaker
So it's cool that you can have that running while you're doing a mode or you're playing a multiball.
00:02:44
Speaker
It's something that I usually go for the bounty hunts first to get them going.
00:02:47
Speaker
So they're playing around in the background while I'm playing the rest of the game essentially.
00:02:54
Speaker
So if you haven't played a Jaws, I highly recommend it.
00:02:57
Speaker
I'm seeing someone was saying that Jaws is nowhere near what Godzilla is.
00:03:02
Speaker
And I think it's hard to compare because it's two different layouts.
00:03:05
Speaker
Like we're going for different concepts and stuff like that.
00:03:08
Speaker
I still think the genius is there.
00:03:10
Speaker
I just, I feel like we kind of get this weird, I don't know if it's the community lately or what, but it feels like
00:03:17
Speaker
A lot of people want to hate pinball or hate what it's become.
Community Opinions on Pinball
00:03:21
Speaker
And I don't, I don't get it.
00:03:23
Speaker
It's, it's easier to channel negative energy.
00:03:26
Speaker
The bottom line, it happens every time a game comes out.
00:03:29
Speaker
It tends to be, it tends to be, you know, if you're into statistics, it's a bimodal distribution where people are either all in or all out.
00:03:41
Speaker
Like there are very few like middle of the ground things.
00:03:44
Speaker
And I would say I have played Josh.
00:03:48
Speaker
I have played Jaws.
00:03:50
Speaker
I have not played Josh on Jaws, but I have played Jaws.
00:03:53
Speaker
I did play the, the pro though.
00:03:55
Speaker
I didn't have a chance to play the premium and I thought it was fun.
00:03:58
Speaker
It was one of those things where I'm like, you know what?
00:04:00
Speaker
This game could definitely grow on me.
00:04:03
Speaker
I didn't love it as in like best game ever, but to be fair, I didn't, I didn't feel that way about Godzilla or even medieval madness.
00:04:12
Speaker
The first time I played those.
00:04:13
Speaker
It takes a while to say, okay,
00:04:15
Speaker
What is the last ability?
00:04:17
Speaker
And that's what makes it a great game.
00:04:20
Speaker
And I think this game has a lot of last ability.
00:04:22
Speaker
I just, I feel something special when I was playing the premium and I just had a smile on my face.
00:04:27
Speaker
It felt, it felt fun.
00:04:29
Speaker
And so, and here's the other problem too, right?
00:04:31
Speaker
Like there's how many people in this hobby?
00:04:33
Speaker
There's, there's tens, hundreds of thousands of people, right?
00:04:37
Speaker
Because there's five dudes complaining on pin side or complaining on Facebook.
00:04:41
Speaker
It's the whole squeaky wheel situation.
00:04:44
Speaker
based off the numbers of who listened to Keith, I mean, we had over 8,000 listens on that episode.
00:04:49
Speaker
So people are excited for this and it's definitely moving units like the other games that are coming into distributors or setting wall jaws, jaws just had its second run of pro and premium.
00:05:00
Speaker
And I don't know of many that are sitting in stock, maybe the pros, but the premiums, all, all the distributors I talked to said, they're literally, literally coming in the door and going, shipping out to, yeah.
00:05:14
Speaker
It's a great game.
00:05:14
Speaker
If you haven't played it, find one.
00:05:16
Speaker
And especially now that there's more premiums out there, find a person and hit them up.
00:05:21
Speaker
Say, hey, I want to come play the game.
00:05:23
Speaker
And if you want to order it, call Zach and Nicole at Flipping Out Pinball.
00:05:27
Speaker
They've definitely helped us out.
00:05:29
Speaker
Now, I'm going to go a little bit out of order.
00:05:31
Speaker
I know we have our notes, but I want to, since we're already talking about Jaws,
00:05:36
Speaker
I want to jump into the modding
The Impact of Pinball Mods
00:05:39
Speaker
So the one thing I do want to talk about the stumbler mod that it was announced.
00:05:45
Speaker
And so if you, if you're unfamiliar with stumbler, a great guy, I'm like, you've been under a rock.
00:05:54
Speaker
If you're listening to us, then you have to be at least familiar with, with the mods.
00:05:59
Speaker
So he released a buoy mod.
00:06:02
Speaker
which looks really great.
00:06:04
Speaker
I mean, he, he's known, I would say he burst onto the scene with the Tokyo neon sign mod for God.
00:06:13
Speaker
Now he also has a couple of other things for Godzilla.
00:06:15
Speaker
He has the Lolly UFO mod for Godzilla, the subway building for Godzilla and the noodle bar.
00:06:24
Speaker
These aren't, these are high end mods.
00:06:27
Speaker
This is not some person printing them out on a 3D printer.
00:06:32
Speaker
This is, these are high end mods and you are paying a premium for them, but they look amazing.
00:06:38
Speaker
So if you haven't seen it, go and look at the Jaws buoy of death mod and Josh.
00:06:47
Speaker
What do you think about this mod?
00:06:48
Speaker
Is this something that you're interested in putting in your game?
00:06:51
Speaker
So here, this is how I feel about mods.
00:06:54
Speaker
I feel like they're unnecessary for pinball machines.
00:06:57
Speaker
I feel like they're, they're eye candy, right?
00:07:02
Speaker
Unnecessary or not essential.
00:07:04
Speaker
I, I, I would frame it as non-essential, but go ahead.
00:07:07
Speaker
They're non-essential.
00:07:09
Speaker
I am not much of a mod believer.
00:07:11
Speaker
All the games behind me, excluding Godzilla, don't look at it.
00:07:16
Speaker
They don't have mods.
00:07:16
Speaker
I've had World Cup soccer for almost a decade now.
00:07:19
Speaker
I've never modded the game.
00:07:22
Speaker
I don't see really a point.
00:07:24
Speaker
I get the bling, yada, yada.
00:07:26
Speaker
Stumbler has made me a believer in mods.
00:07:32
Speaker
Like the man is insane when it comes to mods.
00:07:35
Speaker
I have, uh, I have the Tokyo sign mod.
00:07:38
Speaker
I have the, the lollipop ramp or not lollipop noodle bar mod.
00:07:43
Speaker
And I'm on order for, uh,
00:07:45
Speaker
it's called the subway mod, but yeah, but it's, it's the other building on the opposite side.
00:07:50
Speaker
So it's subway building mod.
00:07:51
Speaker
So basically Godzilla has four possible mods, which by the way, okay, these aren't cheap.
00:07:58
Speaker
The, the Godzilla, the Lolly UFO mod is one 77.
00:08:02
Speaker
The Neo, uh, the Tokyo neon sign is 228.
00:08:07
Speaker
The subway building is 304.
00:08:11
Speaker
And the buoy death is 295.
00:08:14
Speaker
So you're looking at $1,000 in mod to make it look very pretty, by the way.
00:08:18
Speaker
You are making it look very pretty.
00:08:21
Speaker
And honestly, I feel like it elevates the looks of this game.
00:08:26
Speaker
I know that sounds stupid because I'm like...
00:08:28
Speaker
I'm like, I don't hate mods, but you know, looking at Stumbler stuff and I agree with you.
00:08:32
Speaker
I feel like Stumbler's been, he was on the scene, but when the Tokyo sign came out, it was like this man's serious.
00:08:40
Speaker
And then when I received it and I installed it, the craftsmanship, even the, even down to the packaging, like the man is just meticulous.
00:08:51
Speaker
It was packaged well.
00:08:53
Speaker
And so I'm not gonna lie.
00:08:55
Speaker
I'm in on a buoy of death mod.
00:08:59
Speaker
If you haven't seen this, so on Jurassic Park, on Jaws,
00:09:04
Speaker
the lower reel um i'd never noticed this but there's a giant piece of plastic that goes around the back of that sure and i was like because when i saw the buoy mod you replace that plastic and it looks like waves and then some buoy is actually floating it it rocks back and forth like it's in water and at the top of the buoy is a dmd
00:09:28
Speaker
and it will tell you like encounter or a multi baller.
00:09:32
Speaker
It actually tells you what's going on in the game, which is amazing to me.
00:09:35
Speaker
Like this is holy crap.
00:09:37
Speaker
And my concern was, is like, maybe it's gonna block some of the view or whatnot, but really back behind that reel, there's not really much to see.
00:09:45
Speaker
There is the shack for a quince shack, but it's not, I was nervous.
00:09:50
Speaker
It'd be blocking shots.
00:09:52
Speaker
It doesn't look like it's doing that.
00:09:54
Speaker
Like I said before, it's 295.
00:09:57
Speaker
honestly i would prefer this over a topper but we're we're comparing a 300 well okay like a two grand three most most definitely be a minimum of a thousand dollars probably probably and so my point being is is like i i don't really buy mods i feel like some of them are very cheesy i feel like
00:10:20
Speaker
Some of them are just cake toppers, but well, that's what your toy story.
00:10:25
Speaker
I know they're not cake topper mods, but you have to admit when you first saw the toy story stuff, you, that's where your mind went.
00:10:33
Speaker
but I feel like Stumbler has made such a professional product that when I put it in my game, it was meant to be in my game.
00:10:44
Speaker
Like, I know I've talked about this and I feel bad if the gentleman's listening, but when, when I bought my very first pinball machine, uh, amazing Spider-Man, uh,
00:10:53
Speaker
I bought a pinball machine at the same time for a friend.
00:10:55
Speaker
He's like, if you're going there, pick me up one.
00:10:57
Speaker
So I go to this other guy's house.
00:10:58
Speaker
And he had taken AstroTurf and AstroTurfed the whole apron to his no good gophers.
00:11:06
Speaker
And then he had taken like a cake topper golf cart and stuck it back in the back.
00:11:13
Speaker
when you looked at it, you knew it wasn't meant to be in the game.
00:11:18
Speaker
When I look at stumbler mods, they do.
00:11:21
Speaker
Oh, my game just quacked.
00:11:22
Speaker
I was like, what was that noise?
00:11:24
Speaker
Now I'm seeing it behind me.
00:11:25
Speaker
So a few fighters.
00:11:26
Speaker
Oh, it's updating.
00:11:27
Speaker
Yeah, it's updating.
00:11:31
Speaker
Hey, inside connected, update your games.
00:11:33
Speaker
Why you podcast kids, you know it.
00:11:35
Speaker
So if you hear more, I'm pulling a Tom here.
00:11:39
Speaker
Thanks Tom from triple drain.
00:11:42
Speaker
But yes, sorry, I've talked so much, but I really, I am a firm believer in these mods.
00:11:46
Speaker
If you haven't checked these out and, and the list opened like two days ago or three days ago, I mean, it hasn't been that long and there's our, it's all right.
00:11:53
Speaker
Three, 400 people deep.
00:11:56
Speaker
It's, it's not, yeah, it's not super fast.
00:11:58
Speaker
You're now you're right.
00:12:00
Speaker
I am looking at, so I did pull up the play field pictures cause I wanted to double check exactly where it, where it goes and
00:12:07
Speaker
in the game so if you look at it it actually yeah there's kind of this um it looks like a rocky burr like a shore i i i don't live by the ocean i don't know how to like it's it's one of those a wave break things where they dump a whole bunch of water in or sorry rocks in so the waves can okay i i
00:12:28
Speaker
I've been drinking a whole bunch of water in the ocean.
00:12:31
Speaker
I've been drinking this.
00:12:32
Speaker
It's this cell Pellegrino zero blood orange.
00:12:37
Speaker
Maybe the, maybe the buzz is going to me, but it's, it's like those, those wave breaks.
00:12:44
Speaker
I think that's what they're called.
00:12:46
Speaker
And then, then it just has some, you know, it's, it's a plastic and what else are you going to say?
00:12:51
Speaker
So this, I wonder, I bet that the lights in the mod are probably synced with the lights under the play field for the shark.
00:13:04
Speaker
You know, when you start chumming the water,
00:13:07
Speaker
I would bet that that's going to be synced, like, you know, synchronized, I guess, because that was that was surprisingly cool when I played it in person is having them, you know, because you had the lights that were blue.
00:13:22
Speaker
And then once you dumped the chum in the water, it became they became red lights and it illuminated through the play field.
00:13:28
Speaker
And that was I didn't think that was going to look as cool as it did.
00:13:33
Speaker
So this is definitely bringing you in.
00:13:35
Speaker
And I would argue the same type of thing as like expression lighting kits, right?
00:13:41
Speaker
Like expression lighting kits for music pins.
00:13:44
Speaker
In my book, that's a necessary upgrade.
00:13:49
Speaker
Because it does feel so much different when you have the synchronized lights.
00:13:54
Speaker
Feels more like a concert.
00:13:57
Speaker
I am with you two on mods.
00:13:59
Speaker
I guess that my limit for...
00:14:03
Speaker
this is where I'm trying to find that balance because I, I totally agree that I am a topper guy.
00:14:08
Speaker
I did buy the most expensive topper.
00:14:10
Speaker
I have is the rush topper.
00:14:12
Speaker
And I was playing rush the other day and my wife came out from the office and she's like, Hey, that's a cool topper mod.
00:14:20
Speaker
And I was like, yeah, it is.
00:14:22
Speaker
I, I didn't tell her it was 1800 bucks, but yes, it was a, it is a cool topper.
00:14:27
Speaker
And so there is something about the experience.
00:14:31
Speaker
I try to walk that line though, because you're like, okay, so how much am I willing to put in the game?
00:14:37
Speaker
And am I willing to bling it up that much?
00:14:41
Speaker
And what, so I also feel that if I'm going to do it, I want it to feel as if it is next level for the OEM, right?
00:14:53
Speaker
So you have the play field plastics, which definitely, they're fine.
00:14:58
Speaker
They're there to give some sort of experience.
00:15:03
Speaker
But if you're going to put a mod in, it needs to take it to a next level.
00:15:07
Speaker
Like I don't want to glue a matchbox car underneath the hood and put an led light on and call it a James Bond car.
00:15:15
Speaker
But there is, there is a limit of, of,
00:15:18
Speaker
okay, what do you like to do?
00:15:19
Speaker
So this actually, so you're in on the stumbler mod.
00:15:23
Speaker
That's what you're saying.
00:15:24
Speaker
I'm in on the stumbler mod.
00:15:27
Speaker
So, and the other thing too is, so there's only, if I am going to mod the game, I think there's only two other mods that I, I like feel like either there is a necessity or is something like,
00:15:40
Speaker
I don't mind spend money on.
00:15:43
Speaker
And that would be a color DMD.
00:15:44
Speaker
Because the perk of a color DMD is to... It's not game specific.
00:15:49
Speaker
You can take it out as you want, right?
00:15:51
Speaker
Yeah, so if you have a World Cup soccer and you go to sell your World Cup soccer, move it to your Whitewater or whatever.
00:16:00
Speaker
I'm not a fan of art blades, but I love mirror blades.
00:16:05
Speaker
I love mirror blades.
00:16:06
Speaker
I'm kind of the opposite.
00:16:08
Speaker
I prefer art blades over mirror blades.
00:16:12
Speaker
I like the mirror blade because it gives, it reflects the light and I feel like it makes the game feel more open.
00:16:17
Speaker
I know it's really stupid, but it like in my attack for Mars limited edition.
00:16:23
Speaker
It looks really good on that.
00:16:24
Speaker
Does monster bash have those?
00:16:26
Speaker
I want to say yes.
00:16:28
Speaker
I'll have to go look.
00:16:33
Speaker
So it probably has those things.
00:16:35
Speaker
I tend to like the art blades a little better.
00:16:40
Speaker
But the mirror blades, definitely.
00:16:42
Speaker
Something on the sides other than the black, I think, look good.
00:16:47
Speaker
So I do want to get into this a little bit.
00:16:51
Speaker
So we talked to, again, our friend over at...
00:16:58
Speaker
So Travis Murry had mentioned that he knows people who they actually get like a pro version, a premium version and an LE version.
00:17:08
Speaker
And they mod up the premium version and then they decide if they want to which version they want to keep.
00:17:17
Speaker
And so I'm curious what people's approach to games are.
00:17:22
Speaker
Now, that seems like overkill to me, to buy three games, to mod one up, because the minimum amount of mods, if you're going through that, you're probably looking at anywhere from $500 to $1,500 on modding it out.
00:17:38
Speaker
And then you're really getting into, well, should you have just got the LE, which is pre-modded, basically.
00:17:46
Speaker
But I'd be curious to find out what people find the best mods are for games.
00:17:51
Speaker
Like I did buy the armor package for Deadpool.
00:17:57
Speaker
And so I still haven't installed it because I am notorious for buying mods and then not actually putting them on games.
00:18:03
Speaker
So I do have the armor package that I haven't put on the swords, the B Arthur swords.
00:18:10
Speaker
And I do have the Tokyo sign mod from Stumblr.
00:18:14
Speaker
I just haven't installed it in the game yet.
00:18:17
Speaker
And I actually still have the flying monkey mod from Steve Govea.
00:18:22
Speaker
I've had it for like seven years.
00:18:25
Speaker
I've had it for like seven years.
00:18:27
Speaker
But I did, Steve, I did install the Gus mod, the sarcophagus mod, which if you're, man, if you're going to get something for Iron Maiden, you need to get that one.
00:18:39
Speaker
Yeah, so I try to find like that balance of what I figure is worth it in games because it really is, it doesn't affect the gameplay, but it does take it up to a next level as long as it doesn't look like AstroTurf with a glued golf cart.
00:18:56
Speaker
that's the other thing too some of these mods are ridiculous like yeah they look like they look bad and then they're charging 50 75 100 and i'm like that's why i'm like when when i'm spending 250 to 300 bucks on a stumbler i'm like it's worth it like you can see the cafterman it looks professional and really it looks better than the professional right yeah yeah yeah there's some stuff stern even stern some of the stuff they release you're just like
00:19:26
Speaker
The toppers are, I have a love-hate relationship with toppers.
00:19:29
Speaker
Like there are a few of them where I look at and I'm just like, yeah, even if I owned the game, I wouldn't buy that.
00:19:35
Speaker
Fun fact about B. Arthur, because you were talking about Deadpool.
00:19:38
Speaker
Did you know in the movie, in Deadpool 2, when Ryan Reynolds is wearing his B. Arthur shirt from Golden Girls, he paid for the royalties to wear that shirt.
00:19:48
Speaker
The movie company wouldn't actually, they're like, no, we're not paying for you to wear that shirt.
00:19:53
Speaker
He's like, fine, I'll just pay for it myself because Deadpool wears those shirts in the comics.
00:19:58
Speaker
I'm learning because, you know, Deadpool and Wolverine has been announced and so all this stuff's coming out of the woodworks and whatnot, but
00:20:07
Speaker
And by the way, if you're going to do a sequel, George Gomez to Deadpool, do a Deadpool Wolverine.
00:20:18
Speaker
Sell that, package it, get the licensing for it.
00:20:24
Speaker
That will be such a great game.
00:20:25
Speaker
And if you're looking at a Marvel type hookup, you need that hookup because Deadpool is a great game.
00:20:34
Speaker
It's a brutal game, but it's fun.
00:20:36
Speaker
That's one of the few games I've moved out of my basement to take a break from that I regret moving out of my basement.
00:20:48
Speaker
It's a really good game.
00:20:49
Speaker
And it's funny because when I first played it, I was like, this game is so simple.
00:20:53
Speaker
And then I started playing more of it.
00:20:55
Speaker
This is actually quite a good game.
00:20:58
Speaker
If anyone wants to trade me my Iron Maiden for a Deadpool Pro, let's have a conversation.
00:21:03
Speaker
No, you need to get the premium, man.
00:21:05
Speaker
You need the drop targets.
00:21:09
Speaker
I'm a sucker for drop targets, though.
00:21:14
Speaker
I will pay the money for the drop targets because it's just, I think it's just fun.
00:21:19
Speaker
That's one thing I love in pinball is seeing how the game changes.
00:21:23
Speaker
And when you hit a target, it just goes down.
00:21:26
Speaker
I love seeing that.
00:21:28
Speaker
So that's what I'll get.
00:21:29
Speaker
Just pay the money and get the premium.
00:21:30
Speaker
And then you get the disco ball.
00:21:33
Speaker
So you bring up a point of Stern needs to get a hold of Deadpool and Wolverine to do that machine.
00:21:41
Speaker
But I'm tying this in with I saw on.
00:21:46
Speaker
on facebook from colin who's over kineticsis and this week in pinball and he poised a question because everyone's been hearing the rumor john wick's next from stern more than likely it's john borg as designer tim sexton on code uh with probably raymond with that you think you think raymond's gonna be in that i think he might assist um i who knows uh with randy martinez on artwork is what i'm hearing as well okay uh
00:22:14
Speaker
And Randy did like Mandalorian, Star Wars.
00:22:18
Speaker
He did the line drawn stuff.
00:22:20
Speaker
So the question was poised, is John Wick too violent for Stern Pinball's brand that they're aiming for nowadays?
00:22:30
Speaker
Granted, we were talking about this before and they've made Walking Dead.
00:22:35
Speaker
They've made Game of Thrones.
00:22:36
Speaker
They've made Metallica.
00:22:37
Speaker
They've made Game of Thrones.
00:22:39
Speaker
They've made ACDC.
00:22:41
Speaker
They've made Iron Maiden.
00:22:44
Speaker
Heck even heavy metal.
00:22:46
Speaker
But that, I don't know if that was, I don't really count heavy metal.
00:22:50
Speaker
I honestly, I made it kind of brutal too.
00:22:53
Speaker
Like there's a part where when you get a ball and Eddie rips the ball out of his chest, like it's his heart.
00:23:00
Speaker
It's pretty, it's pretty gnarly.
00:23:02
Speaker
It's now I will say if you're going to look at it, it's still probably like PG PG 13.
00:23:11
Speaker
It's, it's not it.
00:23:14
Speaker
Now Iron Maiden has intentionally done that to make sure that their art style has been, you know, has been safe enough, right?
00:23:23
Speaker
It's been kind of like risky enough, but not like too bad.
00:23:28
Speaker
I think of a story back in the day where they had, so when you used to buy a record, okay.
00:23:34
Speaker
So there was one time they did like a sample piece with Eddie as in, okay, what is it called?
00:23:41
Speaker
Is it the Vitruvian man?
00:23:43
Speaker
You know, you know, the guy who's, you know, the, the Da Vinci thing.
00:23:46
Speaker
He's got the two hands up here.
00:23:48
Speaker
Where his arms are out and up like that.
00:23:51
Speaker
Well, they made that for the decal in the middle of the.
00:23:55
Speaker
of the record and you know where the post goes yeah yep right okay and and steve harris from my everybody's like yeah we can't do that it'd be funny it would be funny but i can totally see someone's parent walking by and saying what you're listening to okay this is also the the band that have the uh the 666 number of the beast yeah so so they were probably walking out fine line anyway but
00:24:22
Speaker
Apparently devil worship is, is less offensive to moms than, than a metal post in the groin, I guess.
00:24:33
Speaker
Since those jokes have been around for years.
00:24:38
Speaker
But my point being, so do you think John wicks too, too violent for, for Stern and what they're aiming for?
00:24:45
Speaker
I am on record saying that I have not watched game of Thrones, nor will I watch game of Thrones because it is too much for me.
00:24:56
Speaker
This is a personal preference again.
00:24:58
Speaker
I've never watched it.
00:24:59
Speaker
My cousin described it to me.
00:25:00
Speaker
He's like to sum it up in, in, in two words.
00:25:03
Speaker
Uh, blood, blood and bare chests.
00:25:06
Speaker
I was like, Oh no.
00:25:09
Speaker
And there, there's a lot of that stuff, which is not, and it's not for me now.
00:25:13
Speaker
This is not me by the way, saying that you can't enjoy that.
00:25:16
Speaker
That's, that's the beauty of living in a free country folks is that totally they are not catering to all audiences.
00:25:22
Speaker
And this is the same thing as, uh, doing the Supreme pinball machine.
00:25:28
Speaker
Like the Supreme pinball machine is not aimed at me.
00:25:32
Speaker
I, I truly didn't know anything about Supreme before the pinball machine came out, nor do I really know anything about it since it seems like the, the app that I, there was an app that came out on iPhone and it was the I'm rich app that had like, you paid $10,000 for it.
00:25:53
Speaker
And it just had a picture that said, I'm rich, which by the way, whoever sold that brilliant.
00:25:58
Speaker
Cause they, I, they still like 10 of them, but Hey, that's a hundred thousand dollars.
00:26:02
Speaker
But it seems a little bit more like a flex, right?
00:26:06
Speaker
Like that's not for me.
00:26:09
Speaker
I'm sure that it's a fun game, but I'd pay $5,000 for it.
00:26:13
Speaker
It's like the home version, right?
00:26:16
Speaker
So is John Wick too violent?
00:26:19
Speaker
They could actually release a version that is super violent or they can release a version that's a little more peachy.
00:26:27
Speaker
They, they, they walk that line with Deadpool, right?
00:26:32
Speaker
It's an R rated movie.
00:26:34
Speaker
There's a lot of violence and a lot of language in that.
00:26:37
Speaker
And, and so they released the, the Deadpool comic, which is still, he's still sarcastic.
00:26:43
Speaker
He still has all his lines, but they made it enough for a home environment.
00:26:48
Speaker
However, do they need to make everything that's for a home environment?
00:26:54
Speaker
Pulp Fiction is selling.
00:26:56
Speaker
That is not like hotcakes.
00:26:58
Speaker
That is not a, a traditional family friendly movie.
00:27:02
Speaker
You're not taking your kids for move for a Saturday matinee to watch Pulp Fiction.
00:27:08
Speaker
It has earned the R rating.
00:27:12
Speaker
It didn't earn it.
00:27:13
Speaker
It like blew past it.
00:27:16
Speaker
So, so can you release John wick?
00:27:19
Speaker
Yes, I would say absolutely.
00:27:21
Speaker
And there are enough people who will buy that and Stern doesn't have to release something for, you know, everybody, every time in some ways it's a little bit like, um, like spooky, right?
00:27:35
Speaker
You like the play, you like the layout, but you don't like the theme get loony tunes.
00:27:43
Speaker
You're talking about Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
00:27:45
Speaker
But I'm just saying like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, obviously not for the faint of heart.
00:27:51
Speaker
But if you like the game, you can get the Looney Tunes version.
00:27:54
Speaker
Now, they're only releasing a game every year or two, right?
00:28:00
Speaker
It's not a fast release.
00:28:01
Speaker
Stern's releasing one every four months.
00:28:04
Speaker
So they don't have to have something that is PG for everybody.
00:28:10
Speaker
And they release the Sopranos.
00:28:13
Speaker
There's like a mode that has like, it's an F word mode.
00:28:16
Speaker
I forgot about that.
00:28:18
Speaker
You got dance and strippers on the, yeah, exactly.
00:28:22
Speaker
And the playful too.
00:28:23
Speaker
I, I'm, I'm kind of like, if the money makes sense,
00:28:29
Speaker
And Stern, you know, it's more inclusivity, right?
00:28:33
Speaker
Like this hobby isn't made for one specific person.
00:28:35
Speaker
But you don't have to throw a party for everybody.
00:28:37
Speaker
Not every party has to be a kid-friendly party.
00:28:42
Speaker
And so I think, honestly, if this is the same company that made Playboy.
00:28:47
Speaker
Yeah, that's true.
00:28:49
Speaker
I don't think it's a big deal to do John Wick.
00:28:54
Speaker
It's one of those things.
00:28:55
Speaker
Like, like you said, I enjoy Pulp Fiction.
00:28:57
Speaker
I think Pulp Fiction is a great game.
00:28:59
Speaker
It's not coming into my collection.
00:29:00
Speaker
I watched it one time and I'm like, I'm probably not going to watch it again.
00:29:03
Speaker
But okay, here's, here's just a question though.
00:29:06
Speaker
I just Googled it.
00:29:08
Speaker
What do you think the worldwide box office of the John Wick movie franchises?
00:29:14
Speaker
Just throw it a guess.
00:29:16
Speaker
Combined from one to four.
00:29:23
Speaker
I'm going to guess over a billion combined because it's about 250,000 or 200.
00:29:27
Speaker
It's over a billion combined.
00:29:29
Speaker
You don't think the Stern would be interested in that kind of, in that kind of audience.
00:29:34
Speaker
And it has a huge fan fan connection.
00:29:38
Speaker
Like there's a fan base that goes after this.
00:29:41
Speaker
And it's again, it's the demographic that's buying pinball machines.
00:29:45
Speaker
Well, and literally like everyone's clamoring for a matrix.
00:29:48
Speaker
Well, there's Kate, not everyone.
00:29:49
Speaker
There's a good chunk of pinball people.
00:29:51
Speaker
I hear they're like, I want matrix.
00:29:54
Speaker
If it's the first movie only don't put two, three or four or whatever five they're going to make just the standalone one matrix one.
00:30:03
Speaker
That's the only one that's worth anything.
00:30:05
Speaker
But my point being, if you made it just off a one, it was a soft R. Yeah.
00:30:10
Speaker
But the only reason it got an R was because of the violence.
00:30:13
Speaker
Because even the swear, it doesn't even say the F word.
00:30:15
Speaker
Wasn't it like a kick to the head or something?
00:30:18
Speaker
Honestly, I don't know if this rumor is true.
00:30:22
Speaker
Like if you're a listener and you can verify the story, my understanding is, is Matrix released really close to the Columbine shooting.
00:30:32
Speaker
And they didn't want kids to go see this and to then think it was cool to do more shooting.
00:30:41
Speaker
And something to do with like...
00:30:44
Speaker
Also, parents, with the combine shooting, there was a sensitive subject, so they gave it an R so that teenagers weren't going and seeing this.
00:30:51
Speaker
I don't know how much truth there is to that, but that's really... Honestly, outside of... There's really no swearing.
00:30:57
Speaker
There's no sexual content in the first one.
00:31:00
Speaker
Yeah, but they're shooting a lot of people.
00:31:01
Speaker
Yeah, there's a lot of... It's not laser beam shots.
00:31:07
Speaker
but even then like the shooting i don't feel like something you wouldn't see in like a pg-13 movie there's not a ton of blood like there is blood like there's you see bullets going through legs and stuff like that but i still like it's not like pulp fiction okay pulp fiction is not pg yeah but you see what i'm saying like a gun goes off and the whole back windshield's covered you know what i'm saying yeah where matrix is not like that so i just that's why i'm saying like
00:31:33
Speaker
It'd be really weird to me.
00:31:35
Speaker
And granted, I haven't seen the John Wick movies.
00:31:36
Speaker
Maybe they're very, very violent.
00:31:38
Speaker
They are very violent.
00:31:39
Speaker
The amount of people that he kills is like a ridiculous amount of people.
00:31:43
Speaker
What did they say?
00:31:43
Speaker
500 people combined over four movies.
00:31:46
Speaker
Something like that.
00:31:47
Speaker
all because they killed his dog john wick deaths death count there we go okay here we go uh uh john wick death count is oh geez just give me the number just just give me the number john wick kill count is 439
00:32:10
Speaker
That's a lot of people.
00:32:13
Speaker
What did we learn?
00:32:14
Speaker
We learned you don't kill this man's dog.
00:32:17
Speaker
After he loses his, is it like he loses his whole family and the only thing he has left is his dog.
00:32:22
Speaker
Something like that.
00:32:25
Speaker
Speaking of violent, speaking of brutal Brom Stoker, Black Knight sort of rage.
00:32:34
Speaker
It's going back on the line.
00:32:35
Speaker
Just the pro, not the premium.
00:32:38
Speaker
does this shock you?
00:32:39
Speaker
Does like the rumors are like, they're trying to like take the, the, the wind out of Steve Ritchie's sails.
00:32:45
Speaker
No, I don't think so.
00:32:46
Speaker
No, it's, it's about money.
00:32:48
Speaker
Like Stern doesn't care.
00:32:49
Speaker
Like, like legit Stern doesn't care about the, the, the programmer.
00:32:55
Speaker
You could argue that,
00:32:56
Speaker
that they were releasing the monsters to, you know, you could argue that.
00:33:04
Speaker
But to take the sale was like monster bash.
00:33:08
Speaker
Remake was coming out at the same time.
00:33:11
Speaker
Was that what the rumor was?
00:33:12
Speaker
No, they're because Steve Ritchie's not at Jersey.
00:33:15
Speaker
I'm just saying like people like have that thing.
00:33:19
Speaker
Now, is it possible that there are ways that they can like,
00:33:27
Speaker
And you had Foo Fighters come out with like an alien thing.
00:33:33
Speaker
And you're like, wait, what does that have?
00:33:36
Speaker
I know that Foo Fighters is kind of alien, but it definitely was, Hey, we can, whatever you can do, we can do better.
00:33:43
Speaker
I totally get that.
00:33:45
Speaker
But that's not the driving force.
00:33:47
Speaker
Like the driving force of this is like,
00:33:50
Speaker
The pros were the topper, they re-released the topper.
00:33:55
Speaker
By the way, when I bought the topper, I bought it for like $450.
00:33:58
Speaker
And what's it selling for now?
00:34:09
Speaker
That's a 400% increase?
00:34:11
Speaker
Is that what we're about?
00:34:16
Speaker
Is it $2,000 or is it $1,500?
00:34:18
Speaker
still for a topper that was $4.50 when it was originally released.
00:34:25
Speaker
But here's another insane thing too.
00:34:27
Speaker
This game seriously is probably just getting re-released for the topper, right?
00:34:32
Speaker
Is there demand for Black Knight's Star Rage?
00:34:36
Speaker
My understanding, it was the worst...
00:34:40
Speaker
But numbers wise, it was one of the worst performing sterns out there.
00:34:44
Speaker
And this is the problem, right?
00:34:46
Speaker
And we've seen this with stranger things.
00:34:48
Speaker
We've seen this with, uh, monsters.
00:34:51
Speaker
We've seen it with even ghostbusters to an extent where it comes out, it goes through a rough patch.
00:35:00
Speaker
It doesn't keep up with sales.
00:35:02
Speaker
And so they cut it short.
00:35:04
Speaker
And then people say, Hey, I still want, so this is the supply and demand thing, right?
00:35:11
Speaker
Um, I think that the topper is still one of my all time favorite toppers.
00:35:18
Speaker
It is really cool.
00:35:22
Speaker
I, I have a love hate relationship with black night.
00:35:25
Speaker
I, and I kind of love to hate it in some ways because I wanted to love it so much.
00:35:33
Speaker
Because the, the, but the upper play field.
00:35:38
Speaker
If, if it's a, if it's a build of materials issue, how much is one of those stupid physical ball locks?
00:35:49
Speaker
Do you think it's got to be a coil and a post?
00:35:51
Speaker
So you're 20 bucks plus the, the, do you really think it's that cheap, that physical ball lock up top?
00:35:59
Speaker
I mean, I'm betting it's like 150 bucks.
00:36:03
Speaker
Something like that.
00:36:04
Speaker
You don't think that you could, okay.
00:36:05
Speaker
Again, this is me, pure speculation.
00:36:09
Speaker
But you don't think that they could pull that out, put a flipper, a pop bumper, some targets up there and make it worthwhile up there.
00:36:19
Speaker
Cause that is the most vacant play field.
00:36:21
Speaker
I mean, it is so vacant.
00:36:23
Speaker
They made it transparent.
00:36:26
Speaker
Not only that, but tournament people hate it because you can sit up there all day long if it's not brutalized.
00:36:36
Speaker
It's a pointless upper play field, especially when you look at Black Knight 2000, you look at Black Knight.
00:36:44
Speaker
Yeah, there's a purpose for the upper play field, right?
00:36:49
Speaker
Um, so I, I just, I just wish that it would K to be blunt.
00:36:54
Speaker
I think the pros, a better game.
00:36:57
Speaker
A hundred percent.
00:36:57
Speaker
That's probably why they're only running the pro.
00:36:59
Speaker
But there are people who, there are people who disagree and that's totally fine.
00:37:04
Speaker
You know, they, uh, but this is my preference.
00:37:07
Speaker
I would rather have the pro version of it.
00:37:10
Speaker
My friend actually sold his Ellie to get a pro.
00:37:16
Speaker
It's one of those games that like, if you really do like it, there's no reason to hold on to the music.
00:37:22
Speaker
The music's awesome.
00:37:23
Speaker
It really is a great game.
00:37:25
Speaker
The vibe is so good.
00:37:28
Speaker
It's a dark horse.
00:37:29
Speaker
Like it, I'd pick this game over some of other Stern's catalog.
00:37:35
Speaker
And you know what, man, if I wish this one had the expression lighting kit, I talk about that would be great.
00:37:48
Speaker
Well, and I think it's a testament to how good the topper is when
00:37:54
Speaker
I mean, really look at Ninja Turtles does a similar thing.
00:37:58
Speaker
It's a Technodrome, but the eye moves just like the head does on Black Knight.
00:38:04
Speaker
Foo Fighters just came out.
00:38:06
Speaker
It's the Megatron, not Megatron.
00:38:08
Speaker
It's the Foo Tron.
00:38:11
Speaker
Its head moves and talks to you.
00:38:13
Speaker
We're reproducing this in different games.
00:38:17
Speaker
And so the concept's the same.
00:38:19
Speaker
It might not be as well executed as Black Knight.
00:38:23
Speaker
But we're going back to the same well, essentially.
00:38:28
Speaker
Like I said, it speaks to how good Black Knight's topper is.
00:38:31
Speaker
That's the only game that I know of where people are like, yeah, it's a good game.
00:38:34
Speaker
If you slap the topper on it, it's worthy of going into the collection.
00:38:38
Speaker
Okay, I just pulled up the picture.
00:38:40
Speaker
Okay, that mechanism up there, I'm guessing was at least 200 bucks.
00:38:48
Speaker
Is it that that looks a little more engineered, but I, I don't think you need the physical ball lock up there.
00:38:57
Speaker
And having the black night.
00:38:58
Speaker
Now I know that, that Steve spent all his money, his building material on that ridiculous high cost black night, dude, but you have to admit it's really cool.
00:39:11
Speaker
And honestly, let's, let's be honest.
00:39:14
Speaker
This game is just kind of a,
00:39:17
Speaker
a love letter to Steve Ritchie in his career, right?
00:39:20
Speaker
Like he is the black knight.
00:39:21
Speaker
So it's, it's, it's a cool way to honor him in a modern age.
00:39:26
Speaker
And it's a total gut punch.
00:39:27
Speaker
I mean, it is not an easy game.
00:39:29
Speaker
It's a total gut punch, but I just, I just wish that that upper play field had more.
00:39:39
Speaker
More something, some standups and whatnot.
00:39:41
Speaker
Just the upper, it just felt like the upper play field had nothing.
00:39:48
Speaker
It will sell more toppers, but I don't think there's a lot of demand for it.
00:39:56
Speaker
Speaking of gut punches, there are fans of the Blues Brothers crying around the world.
00:40:04
Speaker
Did you hear about this?
00:40:05
Speaker
Home Pin has acquired their next game.
00:40:07
Speaker
They're releasing should be shown this weekend at Pin Fest Newcastle.
00:40:14
Speaker
We'll have footage of this next week.
00:40:20
Speaker
I, I usually take the first take on this.
00:40:23
Speaker
What is your take?
00:40:25
Speaker
I don't think either of us really have much of a connection with blues brothers.
00:40:29
Speaker
I've never seen the show.
00:40:30
Speaker
Have you ever seen the show?
00:40:30
Speaker
I've never seen the show, but I heard the classic.
00:40:33
Speaker
It's definitely reference tend to tends to be of the demographic of people who are probably in their fifties and sixties.
00:40:41
Speaker
I feel like I don't need to see the blues brothers and I'm going to tell you why, right?
00:40:47
Speaker
I watched Eddie Murphy's.
00:40:49
Speaker
The one where he's wearing the red, the red suit.
00:40:53
Speaker
He has the red suit raw.
00:40:55
Speaker
He had the blue suit.
00:40:58
Speaker
And so I watched was actually kind of funny.
00:41:07
Speaker
I'm not going to get into the whole like PC stuff.
00:41:11
Speaker
That stuff is totally not PC.
00:41:13
Speaker
And I will, I will argue that it was a different time.
00:41:15
Speaker
It was early eighties.
00:41:17
Speaker
It was an early eighties.
00:41:18
Speaker
Let's just say there's a lot of stuff that would not fly today in comedy.
00:41:23
Speaker
but he's a funny guy, but yeah, it's a, it was a different era.
00:41:28
Speaker
So what are you getting out with that?
00:41:30
Speaker
A lot of the comedians I enjoy.
00:41:31
Speaker
So Gabriel Iglesias, like reference that seeing delirious is what made him want to be a comedian.
00:41:37
Speaker
A lot of people reference Eddie Murphy's delirious, right?
00:41:39
Speaker
So I'm like, well, it has some really funny skits, like the ice cream man.
00:41:43
Speaker
If you haven't heard the ice cream man, that one's great.
00:41:47
Speaker
So, but my point being is, is I watched delirious and by the end of it, I was like,
00:41:54
Speaker
Why is this such a classic?
00:41:56
Speaker
Then I realized the reason I don't get it is because all these jokes have literally been stolen from this and placed in other movies I've seen growing up.
00:42:06
Speaker
So by the time I actually finally said Eddie Murphy's Delirious, I'd already heard all the material because it had been quoted and everything else.
00:42:13
Speaker
So where I'm getting at with this is I could probably watch Blues Brothers.
00:42:16
Speaker
I'd probably love it.
00:42:18
Speaker
But there is a lot of cultural references to Blues Brothers.
00:42:21
Speaker
There's been a lot of
00:42:22
Speaker
you know, bits done in other movies and other TV series.
00:42:26
Speaker
I feel like if I watch blues brothers, I'd be like, I've seen this before.
00:42:29
Speaker
I haven't, but I have it's deja vu.
00:42:31
Speaker
So, um, personally me, I do.
00:42:35
Speaker
I am a fan of the old school Saturday night live.
00:42:37
Speaker
I feel like they have lost their way a little bit.
00:42:40
Speaker
They come out with a gem every once in a while, but the old, old school, Dan Aykroyd, Steve Martin, you know, up to, you're talking old school, like pre, like the first five years.
00:42:52
Speaker
And even up to Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Farley.
00:42:56
Speaker
So that's the nineties stuff.
00:42:57
Speaker
So yes, kind of the eighties was kind of a no man's land.
00:43:01
Speaker
The nineties, the early nineties was a little bit of a, it was an embarrassment of riches really.
00:43:07
Speaker
And they'd Chris Farley.
00:43:08
Speaker
They had David Spade.
00:43:09
Speaker
They had Mike Myers.
00:43:11
Speaker
They had Dana Carvey and I, okay.
00:43:13
Speaker
Ironically, Dana Carvey of that mix, he was the star of the show.
00:43:18
Speaker
David Carvey didn't do anything after now.
00:43:21
Speaker
I know, I know he had a lot of health problems, but the fact that he was the star of the show of that era and you had like Adam Sandler who went on to make like $4.5 billion in movies.
00:43:37
Speaker
So David Spade once said, cause they're like, would you ever be on who wants to be a millionaire as a host or whatever?
00:43:41
Speaker
He's like, I was already on that show once.
00:43:43
Speaker
And they showed a picture and it was that cat.
00:43:45
Speaker
It was like the 91 or 92 cast of Saturday night live.
00:43:48
Speaker
And literally the whole cast had made millions, like individually they'd all made millions by themselves.
00:43:53
Speaker
So any, the point being, do you know, okay.
00:43:56
Speaker
Speaking of Eddie Murphy though, do you know why Eddie Murphy was so ticked at Saturday night live for years?
00:44:05
Speaker
It was the David Spade joke.
00:44:08
Speaker
Which one was that?
00:44:09
Speaker
So you know how he would do like the Hollywood minute and Kate, David Spade is a sarcastic guy, right?
00:44:16
Speaker
He is a sarcastic guy.
00:44:18
Speaker
So he would go through and you know, Eddie Murphy had a lot of hits.
00:44:28
Speaker
the vampire or Harlem nights.
00:44:30
Speaker
And then he did like a vampire, like, okay.
00:44:33
Speaker
Then he just like lost it and just did a whole bunch of stinkers.
00:44:37
Speaker
I think when the Shrek revived his career, when the black, yeah, yeah.
00:44:41
Speaker
When the, when the vampire thing came out,
00:44:45
Speaker
He, because he would just have his, his little minute and he's like, he, he pushed, he put up the, the ad, you know, the, the movie poster and he said, Oh, look, a star's falling.
00:44:57
Speaker
And they just kept moving on.
00:44:58
Speaker
And Eddie Murphy was so ticked at that, that he like, what, like he was so mad that,
00:45:07
Speaker
It was accurate, but that's, it was accurate.
00:45:11
Speaker
He just put a whole bunch of stinkers out there.
00:45:14
Speaker
Where were we going with this?
00:45:16
Speaker
I guess obviously we're, we're, we care more about Saturday night live than blues.
00:45:23
Speaker
No, that's, that's really what it comes down to.
00:45:25
Speaker
Honestly, if you haven't listened to Dr. John did a fantastic job.
00:45:30
Speaker
If you haven't looked, go to the pinball network, do it right now.
00:45:34
Speaker
maybe after this episode of interviewing podcast of what is his name like the owner of home pin and it's just such an insane oh ranting of a man that's just giving the middle finger to america and it's hey if that's what your business wants to be cool whatever yeah he didn't win bonus points from that episode and basically just saying he he's not going to do business in america because he had like
00:46:03
Speaker
six bad experiences with customers.
00:46:06
Speaker
I thought it was like three returned.
00:46:08
Speaker
How things from America, three or four.
00:46:10
Speaker
It's like painted.
00:46:11
Speaker
Everybody in America is like unreliable.
00:46:13
Speaker
I'm like, wow, that's what do we have?
00:46:15
Speaker
Almost 400 million people here in America.
00:46:17
Speaker
We've based the whole demographic off of four.
00:46:21
Speaker
But my point being is, is I've played thunder turds.
00:46:25
Speaker
I I've played spinal crap.
00:46:27
Speaker
Uh, yeah, they just, they're not for pinball players.
00:46:34
Speaker
It's a weird concept.
00:46:35
Speaker
You're making pinball for non-pinball people.
00:46:38
Speaker
It just, it doesn't, it doesn't make sense to me.
00:46:42
Speaker
But hey, you obviously are still making money or you have learned how to swindle people out of money.
00:46:47
Speaker
And maybe that's why you've moved from Australia to China, to Taiwan.
00:46:54
Speaker
He actually moved out of Taiwan.
00:46:57
Speaker
Oh, has he moved out of Taiwan now?
00:46:58
Speaker
No, no, he moved out of China to Taiwan.
00:47:00
Speaker
I really haven't kept up with him.
00:47:02
Speaker
I wonder how the earthquake's affecting him.
00:47:05
Speaker
Obviously not too much if they're releasing Blues Brothers.
00:47:08
Speaker
I would argue that the Blues Brothers, okay, we're not talking like, okay, there's like A-list titles, B-list titles, C-list titles.
00:47:16
Speaker
This is in that cult title.
00:47:19
Speaker
It's kind of along the lines of if someone decided to release Rocky Horror Picture Show.
00:47:26
Speaker
Like you're going to have some passionate fans.
00:47:29
Speaker
So yeah, but I think, I think if you released Rocky Horror Picture Show and did it like the way you did Elvira's House of Horrors.
00:47:36
Speaker
It's all gangbusters.
00:47:38
Speaker
I think it's the way you present it.
00:47:39
Speaker
It may have, it may, it may.
00:47:41
Speaker
but the, uh, yeah, that's a fancy.
00:47:46
Speaker
Chris French is saying Rocky horror picture show.
00:47:49
Speaker
Look, I already got Dr. Frank and for what was his name?
00:47:53
Speaker
That like, yeah, yeah.
00:47:56
Speaker
I already got that set up for you.
00:48:00
Speaker
So it's, it's one of those, it's a cult classic.
00:48:03
Speaker
It's more of like people who are in their fifties and sixties really just who, so who's going to buy it.
00:48:10
Speaker
People who are like grandpas who are just looking for, Hey, I just want something in my house.
00:48:16
Speaker
And maybe they don't care.
00:48:18
Speaker
Maybe they don't care about competitive pinball or having it, having it work super well.
00:48:27
Speaker
your level of excitement on this from a scale of one to 10 with it being home pin, maybe a two.
00:48:35
Speaker
Let's just say on the theme alone on, on a theme.
00:48:39
Speaker
I think it's cool when they do, you know, obviously I wasn't a huge fan of Godzilla as a thing, but I think Keith knocked it out of the park so well that I'm like, it makes me a believer.
00:48:49
Speaker
But Godzilla as a theme is a two.
00:48:52
Speaker
It is, it is a cult thing.
00:48:57
Speaker
It's hard for me to judge on a theme that I've never seen the movie too.
00:49:02
Speaker
Keith spun straw into gold.
00:49:04
Speaker
Maybe you would put Godzilla as a three just because there are people who are really fans of the campiness.
00:49:12
Speaker
The Blues Brothers, they haven't been relevant for 25 years.
00:49:21
Speaker
I don't see that they're not going to get revitalized from this.
00:49:25
Speaker
So you're probably selling to an older demographic who's just looking for something in the game room.
00:49:30
Speaker
But as a theme itself, it's not for me.
00:49:33
Speaker
I would show zero interest in buying this.
00:49:35
Speaker
My prediction is if Thunder Turds and Spinal Crap gives me any idea of where the gameplay is going to go.
00:49:43
Speaker
It's going to be terrible.
00:49:44
Speaker
With Blues Brothers, we can officially call it Snooze Brothers right now.
00:49:48
Speaker
It's going to be terrible.
00:49:49
Speaker
But, Kate, this is what I've always said.
00:49:56
Speaker
If I'm wrong, great.
00:49:57
Speaker
These are our predictions.
00:49:59
Speaker
Seriously, I'd happily.
00:50:00
Speaker
These are our predictions.
00:50:01
Speaker
And if you put out a good game, then we have no problem with saying we got that one wrong.
00:50:10
Speaker
I think this is the one thing I do appreciate that people, when they listen to us, they say, we enjoy what you're saying because we feel like you're fair and balanced.
00:50:19
Speaker
No one's necessarily safe.
00:50:22
Speaker
We're not going to thrash on someone, right?
00:50:24
Speaker
This is probably the meanest we're going to get on home.
00:50:27
Speaker
OK, we'll still criticize, though, when we feel they're used to.
00:50:29
Speaker
But it's constructive criticism, right?
00:50:31
Speaker
It's us saying, hey, this is where we think you fell short.
00:50:34
Speaker
This is where we think you can improve.
00:50:35
Speaker
And we enjoy your guys' products.
00:50:38
Speaker
Hey, I wonder if there's a whole bunch of drop targets in the back that spell blues brothers.
00:50:46
Speaker
How many would that be?
00:50:49
Speaker
Like 13 or something?
00:50:52
Speaker
No, there's just going to be a center ramp that you have to spell blues brothers.
00:50:54
Speaker
Oh, that'd be awesome.
00:50:58
Speaker
You might win people over by doing a long enough sweepable dropped target bank.
00:51:03
Speaker
That's spelled out blues.
00:51:06
Speaker
That would be kind of cool, actually.
00:51:09
Speaker
And then if they spat out like 13 balls, like Apollo 13.
00:51:18
Speaker
I wonder if it'll be like just the blues brothers or if it'll be because they did like a, a sequel with John Goodman.
00:51:29
Speaker
I bet it's the old one.
00:51:30
Speaker
And the other thing too is Jim.
00:51:32
Speaker
Honestly, John Lusche died.
00:51:35
Speaker
the only redeeming quality of this is, is like 4,800 for this game.
00:51:40
Speaker
You at least nailed the price point.
00:51:43
Speaker
You nailed the price point.
00:51:44
Speaker
So if you're finding something that's like the equivalent of a home pin, like a home version, sorry, like a stern home version, then this may, this may actually be similar to that.
00:51:55
Speaker
I think the stern home versions are actually quite good, but you know, it's, it's in that, it's in that ballpark.
00:52:01
Speaker
At least they're not trying to sell it for $9,000.
00:52:08
Speaker
And our last note on the notes we have for tonight.
00:52:13
Speaker
We want to say congratulations to Mia Harbowski.
00:52:17
Speaker
She is the new person down at CGC.
00:52:20
Speaker
She's the person that took Ryan White's spot.
00:52:24
Speaker
Slam till you beat us to it.
00:52:28
Speaker
They released an episode two days ago.
00:52:30
Speaker
By the way, Ryan White's out.
00:52:33
Speaker
He's been out since December.
00:52:35
Speaker
I've heard amazing things about Mia already.
00:52:37
Speaker
I've heard distributors are loving her.
00:52:40
Speaker
She's doing a great job.
00:52:41
Speaker
Mia, if you listen, I don't know if you do or not.
00:52:43
Speaker
Of course she does.
00:52:43
Speaker
She like welcome to the show all the time.
00:52:46
Speaker
If not, butch will, butch will be like, Hey, by the way, the loser kids say congratulations and good job.
00:52:51
Speaker
I'm hearing great things.
00:52:52
Speaker
So, um, and that's good.
00:52:55
Speaker
We've always said we love what CGC does.
00:52:58
Speaker
We don't like the speed at which they do it, but we do love what they do.
00:53:03
Speaker
And I have four of your games downstairs.
00:53:07
Speaker
So it, obviously something's working right in, in what you're doing.
00:53:11
Speaker
Can I give you some inside baseball?
00:53:12
Speaker
I don't know if I'm going to get in trouble for this or not.
00:53:16
Speaker
I actually was in talks with CGC about working with them, but because I was unwilling to relocate to Chicago, it wasn't for Ryan's white position.
00:53:32
Speaker
Asking to help out.
00:53:33
Speaker
I feel like their communication is terrible.
00:53:35
Speaker
And I feel like their social media presence is non-existent.
00:53:38
Speaker
A lot of these companies, their social media presence probably can do some upgrading.
00:53:44
Speaker
But they kind of wanted an all-in-one package.
00:53:50
Speaker
Maybe we should do that.
00:53:53
Speaker
Really, honestly, I think...
00:53:57
Speaker
I think the bar is kind of low for CGC when it comes to that stuff.
00:54:01
Speaker
If me and Zari are knocking it out of the park like people are saying she is, then I don't see a problem moving forward.
00:54:07
Speaker
I think she'll do great.
00:54:08
Speaker
And if she's over social media, awesome.
00:54:11
Speaker
If not, I'll give you some pointers.
00:54:14
Speaker
I'm not saying we're perfect with loser kid, but there's some easy stuff that you could be doing with your social media accounts.
00:54:20
Speaker
Like they have like three posts on Instagram.
00:54:23
Speaker
I don't know if there's a Pulp Fiction post on there yet.
00:54:25
Speaker
Josh knows a lot more about social media than I do.
00:54:28
Speaker
I, I kind of checked out a little bit on social media.
00:54:31
Speaker
I do have a question for our listeners though.
00:54:33
Speaker
I am, I, I will plan on upgrading my Simpsons and I could either do the, the,
00:54:43
Speaker
the color DMD, the LCD or the LED version.
00:54:49
Speaker
I actually have tried both options.
00:54:52
Speaker
Now the LCD, it actually works great for like Pirates of the Caribbean, like the Stern one.
00:54:59
Speaker
And it, it, it worked really well for that for Spider-Man.
00:55:04
Speaker
It didn't work out so well.
00:55:05
Speaker
Like I, and, and, um, uh, Iron Man.
00:55:10
Speaker
Like the LED actually worked out a lot better for that with the movie picture pixelation capture thing.
00:55:19
Speaker
It actually worked better with the LED.
00:55:21
Speaker
So I wonder if someone has a strong feeling about Simpsons with the LED or LCD.
00:55:30
Speaker
You can go on the website and kind of do a side by side comparison.
00:55:34
Speaker
I've done that and I've seen it.
00:55:35
Speaker
And that's why I've gone through.
00:55:37
Speaker
I think a lot of people...
00:55:38
Speaker
A lot of people prefer the LCD over the led.
00:55:41
Speaker
I think they do because, but you know what?
00:55:43
Speaker
I think a lot of people like the ability to blend the dots.
00:55:47
Speaker
And I think they look worse when you blend the dots.
00:55:51
Speaker
Cause it's almost too rigid.
00:55:53
Speaker
They're not, they're not as fluid.
00:55:55
Speaker
It looks, let's just say this, especially the Simpsons one, it looks weird.
00:56:01
Speaker
So I just keep the dots.
00:56:02
Speaker
I still like the dots.
00:56:05
Speaker
But anyway, that's, uh, that, that's my, my reach out and anything else, Josh, anything else you.
00:56:11
Speaker
So we do have some person and we do have some person.
00:56:13
Speaker
We have a person that did reach out and left us four questions they wanted to hear.
00:56:19
Speaker
Thanks for sending these in.
00:56:20
Speaker
First question is what is a dream theme you would like to see made into a pinball machine?
00:56:26
Speaker
Who do you want the company?
00:56:27
Speaker
What company and desire would you choose to make it?
00:56:32
Speaker
I'm not hiding that.
00:56:33
Speaker
I love Keith Elwin machines because the bottom line is Keith is Keith has that secret sauce.
00:56:42
Speaker
So I, I will take Keith on any game.
00:56:47
Speaker
That's not to say other, I can't like other, other designers too, but if I'm choosing one, choosing Keith, I will choose Stern just because of their, they have a price point and reliability.
00:57:01
Speaker
that works out for most and stern has that uh that big bang for your buck okay yep dream theme ooh okay man i actually i'm trying to figure out like what are the things that i would definitely want
00:57:25
Speaker
I know that I've narrowed it down to two.
00:57:28
Speaker
So what theme would you like?
00:57:31
Speaker
So I'm in the same boat with you.
00:57:33
Speaker
I want Stern to make it.
00:57:35
Speaker
I want either A, the Aquabats.
00:57:41
Speaker
Dude, go watch... So Tubi, it's a free... I just thought it was funny.
00:57:45
Speaker
This was like... This is back from like our fourth episode or something like that.
00:57:49
Speaker
We were talking about dream themes.
00:57:51
Speaker
It's still your dream theme five years later.
00:57:54
Speaker
Dang you Jack danger for teasing it on Facebook the other day about, do you want to see an aquabats pinball machine?
00:58:04
Speaker
I think it'd be easy.
00:58:07
Speaker
It sets itself up.
00:58:08
Speaker
If you haven't watched the Aquabats Super Show or listened to their music, I highly recommend it.
00:58:13
Speaker
It's not for everyone.
00:58:15
Speaker
Second one, and I think it would do gangbusters, is Scott Pilgrim versus the world.
00:58:20
Speaker
The theme is still going strong after 20 years.
00:58:23
Speaker
They just released a new Netflix story called Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which was an awesome rehash of the story.
00:58:32
Speaker
I mean, the cast, if you could get the cast, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, who did Captain America, Michael Cera, Todd.
00:58:41
Speaker
Oh, she was in that.
00:58:44
Speaker
You mean Captain Marvel.
00:58:45
Speaker
She did Captain Marvel, not Captain America.
00:58:48
Speaker
She did Captain Marvel.
00:58:50
Speaker
Well, and Chris Evans was Captain America.
00:58:52
Speaker
And then Todd, I can't remember his last name.
00:58:56
Speaker
Who's the guy that plays Shazam?
00:58:57
Speaker
And he also is the voice of Flamengo.
00:59:00
Speaker
Yes, he was in it.
00:59:02
Speaker
He was one of the evil exes.
00:59:04
Speaker
It has so many people, and they all love that movie so much.
00:59:08
Speaker
I was listening to an interview from Chris Evans the other day, and he says, they're still in the same chat.
00:59:13
Speaker
Granted, this movie came out 15 years ago.
00:59:15
Speaker
They're still on the same chat, email chain or whatever, and it's very active.
00:59:19
Speaker
They all love that movie.
00:59:23
Speaker
They actually voiced the characters for the new cartoon series on Netflix.
00:59:28
Speaker
So I just, it would be very easy to kind of Deadpool-esque where you're fighting the evil exes.
00:59:35
Speaker
Like there's seven of them.
00:59:36
Speaker
You have to fight them to then be with Ramona.
00:59:39
Speaker
I just think it's, it's, it's a great theme for pinball and it would just, just, if you've ever seen the movie, like when he's fighting, there's a part where he's like doing multiple combos, like where he's just like, and it's like 56, 57, 58.
00:59:52
Speaker
Like to have a fight mode.
00:59:54
Speaker
where you like have to follow the arrows.
00:59:56
Speaker
But the final shot is on a spinner.
00:59:59
Speaker
And when you hit the spinner, it does the combo count of the fish, 57 as he's being the crap out of Matthew Patel or whoever it is.
01:00:06
Speaker
It's, I think it'd do great.
01:00:08
Speaker
I think it's, I think it's old enough that you're going to hit an older generation, but still relative enough that you're going to like the younger generations would be appealed to.
01:00:18
Speaker
Plus it's got the whole video game thing going for it.
01:00:20
Speaker
Like classic video game thing.
01:00:25
Speaker
So, um, we've talked about themes that I think would be great.
01:00:32
Speaker
I, I, I really do think Deadpool and Wolverine would be a hit.
01:00:36
Speaker
I would love to see that.
01:00:37
Speaker
That's your dream theme or that you're just saying that, you know, okay.
01:00:41
Speaker
We've talked about this.
01:00:42
Speaker
I would love to have a super Mario brothers game.
01:00:47
Speaker
That is an absolute no.
01:00:49
Speaker
I would take Super Mario Brothers over Zelda.
01:00:52
Speaker
And Zelda would be a close second.
01:00:55
Speaker
Because I haven't played two.
01:00:57
Speaker
Okay, full disclosure, I've only played two of the Zelda games.
01:01:01
Speaker
And the NES ones, like the old, the original, original gold card side scrolling.
01:01:07
Speaker
Everyone hated because yeah.
01:01:09
Speaker
So I have, have that one.
01:01:10
Speaker
And well, the side scrolling is the two number two, number two.
01:01:14
Speaker
Adventure of link.
01:01:15
Speaker
And so I I've done the first two.
01:01:17
Speaker
So that, that was, uh, you know, those are kind of fun.
01:01:20
Speaker
Um, but I would definitely take super Mario brothers.
01:01:24
Speaker
I'm just going to throw out a few others that I think would be great.
01:01:27
Speaker
I'd love to see the killers.
01:01:29
Speaker
The killers would be great.
01:01:30
Speaker
A great pinball machine.
01:01:32
Speaker
Not their later crap, their earlier crap.
01:01:35
Speaker
That's, that's almost a band, right?
01:01:38
Speaker
Up to day and age.
01:01:39
Speaker
You can do all that stuff up to day and age.
01:01:42
Speaker
Definitely do the killers.
01:01:46
Speaker
I would pick Muse for you because I know you love Muse.
01:01:48
Speaker
Oh, Muse would be great.
01:01:49
Speaker
Muse would be fantastic.
01:01:52
Speaker
And I think you could do a whole pin just off of Knights of Sedonia.
01:01:55
Speaker
Like literally that song you could, you know, I got, okay.
01:01:58
Speaker
But I will say simulation theory on muse because it has that whole eighties retro video game concept.
01:02:05
Speaker
And in the concert, he goes up to a video game and gets sucked into it.
01:02:09
Speaker
Kind of like Tron.
01:02:11
Speaker
Like it would be, I think Muse would be great.
01:02:14
Speaker
Those are music pins.
01:02:15
Speaker
And we know that I, I, I've said the next questions is what mom or dad band would you like to see made into a pin?
01:02:21
Speaker
So, so I'm going to, I should have told you that too, because pink would have been great by the way.
01:02:25
Speaker
Pink, I still say pink would be a great band or a, sorry, performer to do it.
01:02:33
Speaker
If you put out Taylor Swift one, my, I could buy one and put it in my grandma and my mother-in-law's house.
01:02:39
Speaker
Well, you could put one in every, uh, yeah.
01:02:42
Speaker
Taylor Swift should have a pinball machine.
01:02:45
Speaker
Oh, what is the store where you go in to get your girl's ears pierced?
01:02:47
Speaker
You shouldn't because like they talk topic or something or a hot topic, but they're like in every Walmart or whatever.
01:02:53
Speaker
It's one of those little girl's stores that any, I'll make you could buy a Taylor Swift pinball machine and put them all at those.
01:03:03
Speaker
Those are just off the top of my head.
01:03:07
Speaker
And you can always throw in Van Halen.
01:03:10
Speaker
There's a whole bunch of 80s rock that you could do.
01:03:14
Speaker
Van Halen would be great.
01:03:15
Speaker
Motley Crue, probably not safe for work, but it would sell.
01:03:18
Speaker
All right, so moving on to the next question, because you're saying a bunch of bands.
01:03:23
Speaker
So which mom or dad rock bands would you love to see themed into a pinball machine?
01:03:28
Speaker
You know, I would say that
01:03:32
Speaker
Journey would be great Journey would be great Yeah No, because it does have some slow songs It has some jammers Def Leppard would be great too Bon Jovi sold a billion albums Yeah So really You're looking at Kind of that glam rock Era Of the 80s
01:04:01
Speaker
So those would be the huge ones that would still be quite safe.
01:04:05
Speaker
I mean, everybody would love a Van Halen really, but then it'd be like, is it Van Halen or Van Hagar?
01:04:10
Speaker
And I grew up more in the Van Hagar area era.
01:04:14
Speaker
And so I tend to like those songs a little more, but I appreciate the other songs.
01:04:20
Speaker
But you could even do just a pinball machine off Def Leppard hysteria.
01:04:30
Speaker
No, I'm just kidding.
01:04:32
Speaker
I will check out the Aquabats.
01:04:34
Speaker
I know I bust your chops on it, but I will check out the Aquabats.
01:04:37
Speaker
I will send you a couple songs that aren't so crazy.
01:04:39
Speaker
I'll send you the ones that are definitely.
01:04:42
Speaker
So the band, I would love to see some 41.
01:04:47
Speaker
I think that's more of a 90.
01:04:50
Speaker
That probably is dad rock now.
01:04:53
Speaker
But the cool part about them, I don't know if you know much about some 41.
01:04:56
Speaker
Don't know anything.
01:04:58
Speaker
But they do appeal to an older generation too because they grew up on Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica.
01:05:05
Speaker
So they did incorporate a lot of those elements into their music, especially in the earlier years.
01:05:09
Speaker
So there is kind of a classic rock vibe to their punk pop stuff.
01:05:14
Speaker
Um, they just released what they're claiming to be their final album.
01:05:17
Speaker
They're hanging it up after this tour.
01:05:18
Speaker
It's called heaven and hell.
01:05:19
Speaker
If you have not checked it out is amazing.
01:05:22
Speaker
Heaven is the pop punk side.
01:05:23
Speaker
And then as they grew, you know, as, as they made it later into their career.
01:05:28
Speaker
So the first 15 years is like pop punk.
01:05:30
Speaker
The last 15 years has been metal.
01:05:33
Speaker
And so, and when I say metal, it's more like, you know, like eighties, like speed Metallica metal kind of stuff, you know?
01:05:40
Speaker
uh not master of puppet region yeah yeah yeah master puppet stuff like that um with a little more heft to it okay modern edge uh but if you haven't checked out that album it's a double album amazing from start to finish uh but yeah i think some 41 you've got so much content there because they did this whole playing off of that 70s 80s riff of
01:06:03
Speaker
They had a fake band within the band called Pain for Pleasure where they dressed up looking like Judas Priest and they were devil worshippers or whatever.
01:06:12
Speaker
The whole gag from the 80s and whatnot and Iron Maiden.
01:06:15
Speaker
You could tie that in easily.
01:06:17
Speaker
There's so much good music from first album to last album.
01:06:22
Speaker
I think the thing about Sum 41 is they took a lot of what they loved and they tried to mimic it and expand upon it and they did a really good job of that.
01:06:32
Speaker
So that's why a lot of it sounds like Blink-22, Green Day, Iron Maiden.
01:06:39
Speaker
I just think that Sum 41, they are technically a dad rock band.
01:06:42
Speaker
They're from the 90s.
01:06:46
Speaker
I think if you're going to go with a band, I'm up for Linkin Park.
01:06:51
Speaker
Green Day is amazing.
01:06:52
Speaker
Blink-22 is amazing.
01:06:53
Speaker
So I just thought of three bands that โ
01:06:57
Speaker
Um, there is one that will sell definitely to New York, especially Ron and Bruce, um, steel Panther.
01:07:04
Speaker
They could definitely do the steel Panther band.
01:07:09
Speaker
Uh, yeah, Ron and Bruce would definitely go in on that one.
01:07:14
Speaker
I, I, I did think of a green day, American idiot, just do an American idiot pinball machine.
01:07:20
Speaker
That would be great.
01:07:21
Speaker
And the one, okay.
01:07:23
Speaker
I don't know why this has totally escaped us.
01:07:26
Speaker
But why has there never been talk about an Aussie pinball machine?
01:07:32
Speaker
And that's what's funny is like when Venom was coming out and Aussie was.
01:07:36
Speaker
Aussie showed up in that thing.
01:07:37
Speaker
But, and we all assumed that it was going to be Aussie's music in there.
01:07:42
Speaker
Which turned out to be a total gag.
01:07:44
Speaker
But Aussie, like why isn't there an Aussie machine?
01:07:48
Speaker
I still don't know why there isn't a pink Floyd machine.
01:07:51
Speaker
If you're going to start talking about like.
01:07:55
Speaker
Still conceptual wise.
01:08:01
Speaker
They sold a billion out, but that'd be like the Eagles, you know, laughing fast.
01:08:06
Speaker
And I agree with you.
01:08:07
Speaker
Like the crazy train is going to appeal to me a lot more than money.
01:08:12
Speaker
But, but concept wise, there's a lot there.
01:08:15
Speaker
Ozzy should, should have a machine.
01:08:17
Speaker
I am, I am on the bandwagon.
01:08:19
Speaker
Ozzy should have a machine.
01:08:22
Speaker
Ozzy should have, I'm starting the engine.
01:08:25
Speaker
So do you do Ozzy or do you do Black Sabbath?
01:08:30
Speaker
Ozzy sold way more as a solo artist than Black Sabbath.
01:08:34
Speaker
It's kind of funny.
01:08:35
Speaker
Black Sabbath was like a springboard for a ton of careers.
01:08:38
Speaker
And then the people just never โ Ozzy left.
01:08:41
Speaker
Then Ronnie James Deal left.
01:08:45
Speaker
I mean there was multiple guitarists that floated through that as well.
01:08:48
Speaker
Was Zach Wilde ever part of Black Sabbath or was he just Ozzy's guitarist?
01:08:52
Speaker
Maybe he was just Ozzy's guitarist.
01:08:53
Speaker
Because they, ironically, the original guitarist that Ozzy started with was named Randy Rhodes.
01:09:03
Speaker
And, you know, there's the song Flying High Again.
01:09:05
Speaker
He actually died because he was high doing like loop-de-loops in a plane.
01:09:12
Speaker
And then they had another guy for a while, like JP something.
01:09:18
Speaker
Um, I just remember him cause he, he looked very unique.
01:09:21
Speaker
He was half Asian.
01:09:23
Speaker
Uh, so he, he looked unique, especially for an eighties band.
Rock Music Discussions and Influences
01:09:28
Speaker
Is he the gentleman that?
01:09:30
Speaker
No, I think it was like, wasn't it JP or something?
01:09:34
Speaker
Um, Billy Ward, geezer, Butler, Ozzy Osborne.
01:09:38
Speaker
No, I, I think the guy immediately followed Randy Rhodes.
01:09:43
Speaker
there's a ton of people.
01:09:45
Speaker
It's funny when you have, when you go to wiki and it's like, it tells you like four members and then literally under that it says list of black Sabbath and heaven and hell members.
01:09:55
Speaker
Like, no, I'm just talking Ozzy Osbourne members.
01:10:00
Speaker
what i'm saying though is there's a lot of people that springboarded off of uh black sabbath is all i was trying to say okay jake lee that's what i was thinking of so you had um randy rhodes died and then jake lee took over and i think he was only with him for like uh an album then i think uh uh zach wilde came on board and
01:10:25
Speaker
The list of people that have been in black Sabbath is ridiculous.
01:10:29
Speaker
Well, you get paid and that's the bottom line, right?
01:10:32
Speaker
Yeah, that's true.
01:10:34
Speaker
Well, if you want a touring gig, that's definitely where you, where you go.
01:10:41
Speaker
Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne should have had a pinball machine by now.
01:10:45
Speaker
I think there's still a pill there as well.
01:10:47
Speaker
I think if you're going to go, it would totally sell.
01:10:49
Speaker
It would totally sell.
01:10:51
Speaker
So here's another point too.
01:10:52
Speaker
So, so Gene Simmons said that there's no such thing as rock icons anymore and you can't consider Nirvana one because they only did a couple albums and, and.
01:11:04
Speaker
Well, Gene's wrong.
01:11:08
Speaker
Nirvana single-handedly like there's pre-Nirvana and post-Nirvana.
01:11:15
Speaker
Nirvana basically started all the, all the grunge stuff.
01:11:22
Speaker
It's not even close.
01:11:25
Speaker
And I remember that there's a story that I have no proof on, but it was the David Coverdale from White Snake.
01:11:34
Speaker
As soon as he heard Nirvana, he's like, well, we had a good run.
01:11:39
Speaker
Our career's over.
01:11:40
Speaker
I think every generation has a band, right?
01:11:44
Speaker
The Beatles inspired so many people.
01:11:47
Speaker
Yeah, and the Beatles were 64 to 69.
01:11:50
Speaker
And then when you look at bands that made it successful, Van Halen, I felt, I was gonna say Van Halen was very influential.
01:11:58
Speaker
We wouldn't have Pantera without him.
01:12:00
Speaker
And most of your metal would not have been there.
01:12:02
Speaker
Then Nirvana, after Nirvana.
01:12:05
Speaker
I think the problem is, is we've had this discussion before, is the music industry has pivoted so hard.
01:12:12
Speaker
Yeah, it's fragmented.
01:12:13
Speaker
It's fragmented because no one's, we don't have, and this is part of society's issue too,
01:12:19
Speaker
We don't have shared experiences anymore because everybody, and we're benefiting from this, right?
01:12:26
Speaker
I mean, that's the whole point of pinball.
01:12:27
Speaker
Pinball has thrived under this, this, Hey, we have an interest in pinball.
01:12:32
Speaker
So we're breaking away and forming our own community.
01:12:36
Speaker
So we definitely thrive and benefit from it.
01:12:39
Speaker
So there's benefits and detriments to it, but there are very few giant bands anymore.
01:12:45
Speaker
You could argue Taylor Swift to be one Maroon five would be one.
01:12:49
Speaker
You could argue even Rihanna for worldwide stuff.
01:12:53
Speaker
You could even argue bad bunny.
01:12:55
Speaker
But people would know a Maroon 5 song.
01:13:01
Speaker
Very few people outside of a certain demographic would recognize a Bad Bunny song.
01:13:07
Speaker
So I was listening to, if you've never listened to Finn McKenty, he's really...
01:13:12
Speaker
he's a really good gentleman that kind of specializes in kind of punk rock from about mid eighties up to this point.
01:13:19
Speaker
Like he's, he's actually got a pretty good finger on the pulse of what punk rock is nowadays.
01:13:24
Speaker
And he was talking about like, is rock dead?
01:13:26
Speaker
Like we hear this, like,
01:13:28
Speaker
That's what Gene Simmons said, and I agree.
01:13:33
Speaker
So he's like, are we just old geezers staying on the front porch saying, like, get off my lawn?
01:13:38
Speaker
His point being, I really like this concept.
01:13:41
Speaker
So he brought up art.
01:13:43
Speaker
Art was kind of stale until about the mid-1800s, I want to say is where it was at.
01:13:48
Speaker
Then you had an explosion of artists that were doing art.
01:13:52
Speaker
different things, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, all this creativity and everything.
01:13:59
Speaker
But then all of a sudden, it kind of felt like everything that could be done with art was done with art.
01:14:03
Speaker
But there was a good 70-year span of where it was just everything was new and fresh, right?
01:14:10
Speaker
But ever since then, art hasn't died off.
01:14:12
Speaker
Obviously, art is still around.
01:14:14
Speaker
It's still very appreciated.
01:14:17
Speaker
But there's no art icons.
01:14:20
Speaker
We still talk Pablo Picasso.
01:14:21
Speaker
We still talk Van Gogh.
01:14:24
Speaker
I mean, you could argue Banksy, but I feel like Banksy's more of a... It's because of his political stance.
01:14:31
Speaker
It's a brand more than his art.
01:14:32
Speaker
We have brands more.
01:14:33
Speaker
And even Picasso became a brand.
01:14:37
Speaker
And you look at his early stuff and you could tell he was an amazing artist, but he became a brand.
01:14:42
Speaker
But his juxtaposition was like, if you do that with rock, like rock has been around, it's had a really good about 70 year run from the sixties.
01:14:50
Speaker
Like if you start with Elvis, who you could probably say it was the start of rock and roll and the Beatles perfected in the sixties or gave it a really good bump in a direction.
01:15:01
Speaker
But then we started fragmenting from everywhere.
01:15:03
Speaker
You got Ramones that started punk.
01:15:04
Speaker
You've got ACDC that did more hard rock.
01:15:09
Speaker
You know what I'm saying?
01:15:10
Speaker
And so it's all kind of been done.
01:15:14
Speaker
Rock has kind of got to the last breath of everything that's fresh and new.
01:15:21
Speaker
It doesn't mean it's dead, but it still means that...
01:15:23
Speaker
I would argue that it's not dead, but it's dead as a massive selling mainstream product because there are new, new bands out there.
01:15:37
Speaker
There are the, even there's a, I have a friend who's really into like a European metal and I I've heard some of the new metal coming out of there and it's,
01:15:47
Speaker
It's very awesome.
01:15:49
Speaker
It's kind of like the Iron Maiden has that symphonic metal sound.
01:15:53
Speaker
It's not the scream metal, but it has the fast metal, and it usually has a female voice because they can hit higher notes.
01:16:02
Speaker
And it's really good,
Financial Realities in Music and Pinball
01:16:04
Speaker
but it's not mass consumption like it used to be.
01:16:10
Speaker
Because when I grew up, there were, not kidding, there were four stations.
01:16:14
Speaker
ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.
01:16:17
Speaker
And don't even, the PBS stuff didn't count.
01:16:22
Speaker
And so we, we all consume the same stuff.
01:16:25
Speaker
We don't do that anymore.
01:16:28
Speaker
And honestly, I think Taylor Swift has done an amazing job of
01:16:34
Speaker
be able to break boundaries of we live in a day and age.
01:16:37
Speaker
Like you said, everyone kind of has their entertainment, right?
01:16:40
Speaker
Taylor Swift's the only one that I feel like has somehow invaded everyone's entertainment, right?
01:16:45
Speaker
Whether it's her music, whether it's her love life, whatever it may be.
01:16:48
Speaker
She, she's been able to, yeah, to maintain some sort of connection.
01:16:53
Speaker
So there really should be a Taylor Swift pinball machine.
01:16:56
Speaker
There probably should.
01:16:58
Speaker
But I guess my point being, I just feel like rock and roll, whatever you want to call it, I feel like we've kind of perfected that.
01:17:07
Speaker
And there's still going to be great artists that come out.
01:17:09
Speaker
There's still great artists that are producing stuff.
01:17:13
Speaker
But they're not going to be Led Zeppelin.
01:17:16
Speaker
They're not going to be โ even for everything U2 did, they're not the Beatles.
01:17:23
Speaker
Well, I think the other part, too, is there's just almost no money to be made in music anymore.
01:17:28
Speaker
There isn't performing.
01:17:29
Speaker
There's not writing.
01:17:31
Speaker
There isn't performing.
01:17:34
Speaker
Do you know who Dragon Force is?
01:17:35
Speaker
Have you heard that song, Through the Fire and Flames?
01:17:39
Speaker
so it was huge back in the 2000s because it's it's very like 80s-esque metal like okay i i think they call it like power metal over in europe okay uh it was on guitar hero it was in guitar hero three and it was considered it was the hardest song to play on there okay but those guys blew up substantially because of that the it's called through the fire and flames if you haven't heard it okay
01:18:04
Speaker
Go give it a listen.
01:18:04
Speaker
It's definitely worth it.
01:18:05
Speaker
Send me a link and I'll listen to it.
01:18:08
Speaker
If you feel like Iron Maiden and stuff like that, you're going to love this song.
01:18:10
Speaker
We did kind of go down the rabbit hole onto music themes.
01:18:15
Speaker
So just quick couple minutes.
01:18:18
Speaker
Other themes that would be good.
01:18:20
Speaker
Let me finish my story though.
01:18:22
Speaker
I thought you were done.
01:18:24
Speaker
So my point being is, so this massively successful song, a band that's done very well for themselves,
01:18:30
Speaker
They got paid $3,000 for Through the Fire and Flames for Guitar Hero 3.
01:18:36
Speaker
When they were talking to the guitarist, he says, $3,000 might sound like a decent amount of money, but then you've got to split that.
01:18:43
Speaker
He's like, there's five members in the band.
01:18:46
Speaker
We had the record label.
01:18:47
Speaker
He said there was probably about 10 different people that got a cut.
01:18:50
Speaker
Split $3,000 10 ways.
01:18:57
Speaker
the band jet got their breakthrough from an, I like an iPod commercial.
01:19:06
Speaker
The dun, dun, dun, dun.
01:19:10
Speaker
And they got their big break.
01:19:11
Speaker
So that's not necessarily a bad move for marketing.
01:19:15
Speaker
Now, whether they, whether they can sell concert tickets, that's another thing, but it's not, but I agree.
01:19:21
Speaker
You have to be a performer.
01:19:22
Speaker
If you're going to make music, you're going to have to be a performer.
Current State of the Pinball Industry
01:19:25
Speaker
Romance, that's why they've done so well, is because they were able to take conceptual albums and then apply them to a live action.
01:19:31
Speaker
Legitimately, the first time I saw the Black Parade, though, I saw it without sound.
01:19:39
Speaker
And I imagined a completely different sound coming out of that band.
01:19:46
Speaker
I legit thought it was going to be some sort of speed metal.
01:19:50
Speaker
It's such a good album.
01:19:51
Speaker
If you haven't checked out that one, that's not okay.
01:19:53
Speaker
So what was your question?
01:19:56
Speaker
We, we went down the rabbit hole of music.
01:19:59
Speaker
And obviously music pins, we know sell and do great in a home environment.
01:20:03
Speaker
The question was themes.
01:20:05
Speaker
Now we did, I talked about super Mario brothers.
01:20:07
Speaker
I've talked about that other stuff.
01:20:09
Speaker
A couple of the things like, um, and, or would be an awesome one.
01:20:14
Speaker
By the way, if you're a star Wars fan and you haven't watched the and or series,
01:20:19
Speaker
you definitely need to watch that.
01:20:20
Speaker
It's, it's along with rogue one.
01:20:23
Speaker
It's my favorite stuff coming out of star Wars.
01:20:26
Speaker
Um, but other things that could be, I, I, are we talking like movie themes?
01:20:35
Speaker
She just said your dream theme.
01:20:37
Speaker
So just pretty much.
01:20:39
Speaker
That's why I gave you top two.
01:20:41
Speaker
So I, I, I, I probably go with more of the nostalgia themes that I, things that I thought were cool when I was 14.
01:20:48
Speaker
So we're almost at an hour and a half.
01:20:50
Speaker
Let's get these last two questions.
01:20:52
Speaker
The third one's just kind of, okay.
01:20:54
Speaker
How do we feel about a Brene Brown pinball machine?
01:20:58
Speaker
You're going to have to go for an Oprah machine.
01:21:01
Speaker
You know, you get a machine, you get a machine.
01:21:03
Speaker
Just so anybody doesn't know, Brene Brown is, this is a standing joke because she like talks about her feelings.
01:21:09
Speaker
I don't think there's a... I actually have read... I'm trying to think what book it is.
01:21:12
Speaker
Something about being vulnerable.
01:21:13
Speaker
And that was, hey, if you're not vulnerable... I can't be vulnerable in pinball.
01:21:19
Speaker
I'm trying to defend.
01:21:22
Speaker
And the final question, which is actually a legitimate question.
01:21:26
Speaker
What would you like to see happen in the hobby in the next three to five years?
01:21:34
Speaker
I would like it to solidify a little bit.
01:21:37
Speaker
What I'd really like to see is some of these other companies step up and become more of a, I don't want to say a legitimate competition with Stern, but to be closer to Stern's production and their level.
01:21:54
Speaker
The challenge is I fear that the market is kind of saturated right now.
01:22:00
Speaker
And I'm concerned that we went through this crazy nostalgia period over 14 years from 2010 to 2014.
01:22:08
Speaker
And I wonder if we're set up for a little bit of a drop off.
01:22:14
Speaker
So I think we are, we're getting there where we, it was artificially boosted by the pandemic where it went kind of crazy and
01:22:24
Speaker
And the prices went up.
01:22:26
Speaker
And sadly, I've said that I think that really hurt JJP because they jumped their prices up so fast, so much that unless you're a hardcore fan of a JJP game, you're not going to buy it new.
01:22:42
Speaker
I would buy a Nelton John for 8,500, 9,000, kind of in the Sturm premium range.
01:22:50
Speaker
I would buy that, but I'm not going to buy it for 12,500.
01:22:54
Speaker
I think that, so what I would hope for would be more of a solidification of CGC stepping up their production, Jersey Jack, finding a more accessible price point for everybody and people producing games that are similar to Stern quality and reliability that, so I don't feel pigeonholed to avoid certain manufacturers because of their reliability issues.
01:23:23
Speaker
That's what I wish.
01:23:24
Speaker
I think what's going to happen is we're going to have a cooling down effect.
01:23:27
Speaker
There's going to be a few companies that are going to disappear and there you're going to see it cool off to probably more what it was pre pandemic where you're going to have a lot of machines for used machines that you can buy and sell for around 4,500, $5,000.
01:23:49
Speaker
And I wonder how that's going to affect, I think it's going to cool down the manufacturing because if people can't buy machines and artificially flip them for what they paid for them, then you're going to see people cooling down and looking at used games more than they are new.
01:24:09
Speaker
My hope is, I guess I've been kind of paralleling what's going on right now with the 90s.
01:24:16
Speaker
And I don't think it's as dramatic.
01:24:18
Speaker
And the reason I say that is because in the 90s, we had Gottlieb, Bally Williams, Data East, and Capcom.
01:24:25
Speaker
And we were slaves to arcades, really.
01:24:28
Speaker
We were totally dependent on what was on location.
01:24:32
Speaker
yeah so when the arcade died pinball was on life support yes um i i just want to see like same with you solidification i want to make sure that like pinball can weather what we're going because there's going to be a decline there's just it's not pinball's fault it's the fact that the economy's rough
01:24:55
Speaker
I mean, we're not going to go political or anything here, but it's just you can see the trends in people.
01:25:00
Speaker
People's wallets are very much strained and they'd rather buy food than a pinball machine.
01:25:05
Speaker
You know what I'm saying?
01:25:06
Speaker
Or pay bills, which I don't blame.
01:25:08
Speaker
Taking my kids out to fast food.
01:25:10
Speaker
It's 60 to 70 bucks for a family of five.
01:25:14
Speaker
And that's not political.
01:25:17
Speaker
And that's what pinball is, is economic.
01:25:20
Speaker
And usually when, when times are tough and economically, the first thing I go are, are the jet skis, the, the, the Rolexes, you know what I'm saying?
01:25:31
Speaker
Like it's, it's, it's economy one-on-one.
01:25:35
Speaker
Uh, I just, I, I see pinball in a really good spot right now.
01:25:41
Speaker
to weather the storm.
01:25:43
Speaker
I do see numbers are going to deflate.
01:25:47
Speaker
But other than that, I just think overall it's going to, I hope for it to just, the quality of games that are being built right now still happen.
01:25:58
Speaker
I feel like we're in a really good spot where the games really, when I, when we first started doing loser kid, this was five years ago,
01:26:07
Speaker
Um, Iron Maiden, I don't think had been released yet or may it had been released.
01:26:13
Speaker
Um, I felt like, yeah, what, what, what were the games that were hot then?
01:26:18
Speaker
But think of before Iron Maiden, we had Deadpool, but if you weren't around when Deadpool was released and maybe that actually came out after Iron Maiden, it did not Deadpool super well.
01:26:29
Speaker
Um, but really I was more of like, well, why buy a stern for even a used price was about 4,500, the cheapest kind of pros at that point where high fives, brand new in box.
01:26:44
Speaker
when i can get a valley williams for two grand and this is a 90s johnny mnemonic judge dread fishtails you know it wasn't whitewater monster not monster bash medieval madness attack for mars whitewaters were still lower but they anywho they were still accessible yeah yes they were still accessible my point being is is um i just feel like uh stern games
01:27:14
Speaker
since the release of L1 games have elevated.
01:27:16
Speaker
And I would prefer to own a modern game than I would a Bally Williams.
01:27:22
Speaker
I would rather spend the, what was it?
01:27:26
Speaker
9,500 bucks or it was less than that for Godzilla premium for me.
01:27:30
Speaker
But I would rather spend that much money than on a medieval madness.
01:27:36
Speaker
And don't get me wrong.
01:27:36
Speaker
I love medieval madness.
01:27:37
Speaker
It's a great game.
01:27:39
Speaker
Yeah, you're getting into a little bit like owning a, you know, people talk about, I'd love to have a Donkey Kong machine.
01:27:47
Speaker
And I'm like, actually you don't.
01:27:49
Speaker
And I'll tell you why.
01:27:50
Speaker
Because what happens is it's great eye candy and it looks cool.
01:27:55
Speaker
And you play it and you realize that this game was meant to be fun for 90 seconds.
01:28:02
Speaker
It's not meant to be fun for a long period of time.
01:28:06
Speaker
And in many ways, I, now I still like the nineties games.
01:28:11
Speaker
I, the, the remakes I have, I like them and they're fun because my kids still like playing them, but I,
01:28:18
Speaker
it is not the same depth of rules that a Godzilla has that a rush has, you know, everything that Raymond put into the rules.
01:28:26
Speaker
I'm still finding new things in the rule says I'm even messaging Raymond saying, okay, explain this to me.
01:28:33
Speaker
I'm not figuring this out.
01:28:34
Speaker
And it's like, oh, you do that instead of that.
01:28:37
Speaker
But that's not the level in medieval madness.
01:28:39
Speaker
The medieval madness is shoot the ramp.
01:28:45
Speaker
Well, and that's the thing too, is I feel like,
01:28:48
Speaker
We really live in a cool day and age.
01:28:50
Speaker
I know we've talked about
Future of Pinball Themes and Innovations
01:28:51
Speaker
Venom hasn't done great in numbers, and I do feel bad because I feel like Eddie's a great designer, and these games are pretty awesome.
01:29:01
Speaker
Honestly, if Venom had released 10 years ago, I think it would have been gangbusters.
01:29:10
Speaker
However, I still think it's going to do... You're going to...
01:29:14
Speaker
see like pre-venom and post-venom because they're trying different things with insider connected.
01:29:22
Speaker
But my point being is from 2000 Stern, like literally year 2000 to maybe 2016, I could probably count on one hand the games that people just absolutely love from Stern.
01:29:36
Speaker
You've got Lord of the Rings.
01:29:36
Speaker
Probably about, yeah, 2016.
01:29:38
Speaker
Well, I could count a lot.
01:29:40
Speaker
I would say to 2000 to 2010.
01:29:52
Speaker
You're talking like Tron, like pre-Tron.
01:29:56
Speaker
There's like, it was Tron Lord, the rings and Simpsons pinball party.
01:30:02
Speaker
But if you go after that, I mean, you've got a lot of good ACDC, ACDC, Metallica, Metallica,
01:30:08
Speaker
I'm saying they're good though, but there was nothing like, like, okay, those two are great.
01:30:12
Speaker
It's not, it's not the same level of, you have walking dead in there.
01:30:15
Speaker
It's not the same level of code though, that they have now.
01:30:18
Speaker
Is that what you're trying to say?
01:30:20
Speaker
That's what I'm trying to say.
01:30:21
Speaker
I'm trying to say like every game that comes out now I can be like, yeah, I could see owning that game for a long time.
01:30:29
Speaker
But there's so much variety.
01:30:30
Speaker
It's like, well, why would I own a venom when jaws just came out or you know what I'm saying?
01:30:35
Speaker
I can wait till the next one.
01:30:37
Speaker
It just feels like pinball has really become like, oh, all the games are great.
01:30:43
Speaker
Where it used to be like, oh, Austin Powers.
01:30:50
Speaker
Oh, Roller Coaster Tycoon.
01:30:52
Speaker
I still wish Shrek were a good game.
01:30:55
Speaker
I own Shrek and I could not get rid of that fast enough.
01:30:59
Speaker
It was just not fun.
01:31:00
Speaker
It's a decent game.
01:31:02
Speaker
But it's one of those games that... It's a great theme.
01:31:06
Speaker
It's a great theme.
01:31:07
Speaker
My cousin who lives in town owns that game, and I didn't read the rule set, and I beat the game on my first try.
01:31:15
Speaker
And I was like, oh, that was kind of easy.
01:31:19
Speaker
That was a game, yeah.
01:31:20
Speaker
Yeah, it's a game that exists.
01:31:23
Speaker
Okay, we're at an hour and a half.
01:31:26
Speaker
Did we cover the, what was the last one?
01:31:28
Speaker
It wasn't Brene Brown.
01:31:32
Speaker
Where are we thinking?
01:31:33
Speaker
I would say we're cautiously, well, we're hope to mystic.
01:31:39
Speaker
We think it's actually going for a downturn, but we hope for better.
01:31:46
Speaker
I hope for it won't crash like it did in the 90s, but I agree with you.
01:31:49
Speaker
We were dependent on arcades.
01:31:50
Speaker
Now we're dependent on home.
01:31:52
Speaker
I think financially, even if we're in an economic depression like we are right now, financially we are better off now than we were in the 90s.
01:32:03
Speaker
I think people have more disposable income now than they did then.
01:32:16
Speaker
So, so we're saying John wick here next week.
01:32:20
Speaker
And I think that John wick will be it.
01:32:23
Speaker
It's going to be a theme that people are going to be excited about.
01:32:27
Speaker
So it's either John wick.
01:32:30
Speaker
Here's my prediction.
01:32:31
Speaker
I find this interesting though.
01:32:32
Speaker
So John wick, or we have heard, and this has been said on another podcast, so I'm not, I don't feel like I'm revealing any information.
01:32:41
Speaker
But a remake is being made this year.
01:32:45
Speaker
It's going to be the very first Spike 3 game is what we're hearing.
01:32:49
Speaker
And the remake is a reimagined version of Metallica is what I'm hearing.
01:32:55
Speaker
Yeah, and that's been the rumor for a long time.
01:33:00
Speaker
But I find interesting.
01:33:02
Speaker
Is John Wick's next?
01:33:03
Speaker
Supposedly John Borg's doing it.
01:33:06
Speaker
But if that's the case, do you really think they would release...
01:33:09
Speaker
john wick and metallica they'd replace i know it has nothing to like designer really doesn't define theme yeah i i don't think it's that i i wouldn't overthink that i probably wouldn't either but i do find it interesting i do find it interesting all john borg's games are not in production right now
01:33:30
Speaker
that everything that's not stern, which is, has been discontinued.
01:33:33
Speaker
Rush has been discontinued.
01:33:35
Speaker
Uh, I'm still surprised that rush was discontinued when it did, because it's, there was still demand for it.
01:33:43
Speaker
It's really weird at one game of the year.
01:33:46
Speaker
And then they're like, and it was already, it was already canceled.
01:33:48
Speaker
I think what it won game of the year.
01:33:52
Speaker
sorry i gotta pull this up really quick i'm just just really quickly i'm pulling up john borg so so rush was his last one it's really weird to think too rush was in 2022 and it was the beginning of 2022 like i remember uh we had ed robertson on because he worked with that from bare naked ladies and and it was like the end of january beginning of february i think is when we had him on yeah i think their people are still waiting on their expression lighting gets
01:34:18
Speaker
So Rush, Teenage Mutant Turtles, Monsters, which is the year that I remember literally when Monsters came out.
01:34:25
Speaker
That was the first episode we ever recorded Loser Kid talking about Monsters.
01:34:30
Speaker
Before that, Guardians of the Galaxy.
01:34:32
Speaker
Are they still making Guardians?
01:34:34
Speaker
I swore they did a final call.
01:34:36
Speaker
They did a last call.
01:34:37
Speaker
I think they ran like one other one.
01:34:40
Speaker
So that's probably canceled as well.
01:34:42
Speaker
Aerosmith hasn't been made for years.
01:34:44
Speaker
Kiss hasn't been made for years.
01:34:45
Speaker
Walking Dead hasn't been made for years.
01:34:48
Speaker
I mean, seriously, we're back to Tron and Metallica days.
01:34:51
Speaker
This is more than a decade ago.
01:34:53
Speaker

01:35:03
Speaker
I'm still holding out hope for a vault edition of Lord of the Rings.
01:35:07
Speaker
It would sell 5,000.
01:35:09
Speaker
So buy a Metallica and show your support for Metallica.
01:35:13
Speaker
I bet this is a test room to say are these viable options?
01:35:19
Speaker
I've actually never owned a Metallica, but I would be interested in a Metallica.
