You don’t always have 30 minutes to invest in a podcast and, although we like a deeper conversation as much as the next guy, we want to be in on the short and sweet option as well. This week we’re introducing simple steps, a new recurring format where we focus on one simple step you can take to be uncommon. We’ll try to keep it around five minutes so you can get in, get out, and get on with taking the road less traveled.

Of course, if you hear something that piques your interest and want to dig in further, make sure to check our past episodes for a deeper dive. Or, let us know that you want to hear more about it by sending us an email at podcast@uncommonwealth.com.

The irony of this write up being longer than the episode is not lost on us, so we’ll leave you to it.

Speaker
Everyone dreams about living an uncommon life, but how we define that dream is very different for each of us. And for most, it's a lifelong pursuit.

Uncommon Life Project Podcast Overview

00:00:11
Speaker
Welcome to the Uncommon Life Project podcast. We're going to introduce you to people who are living that life or enjoying the journey to get there. We're going to also give you some tools, tricks, and tips for starting or accelerating your own efforts to live an uncommon life, a life worth celebrating and savoring.

Meet the Hosts

00:00:30
Speaker
Please welcome your hosts, Brian Dewhurst and Philip Ramsey. Hello, welcome everybody to another episode of the Uncommon Life Project.

Podcast Format Changes

00:00:41
Speaker
I am your host, Philip Ramsey. And I'm Brian Dewhurst. And we are going to do things a little different.
00:00:48
Speaker
We are going to start implementing a couple things at the Uncommon Life Project. Strategy. Yep. We are going to go weekly, which is a big thing for us. It's a big deal. We've talked about it for, I would say the better part of a year. Yeah. It's daunting.

Managing Content Demand

00:01:04
Speaker
Here's the thing that you need to know about making content. And anyway, you have to feed the beast. You have to. Once you start the beast, the beast is hungry and wants to keep eating.

Introducing 'Simple Steps' Segment

00:01:15
Speaker
So we are going to start doing these things called simple steps. What in the world is a simple step? I was hoping you were going to keep talking, but just kidding. We wanted to, obviously in the podcast world, I was just telling Philip, there is a podcast that keeps coming up in my Twitter feed and it's four hours long.
00:01:36
Speaker
I'm not that guy. Hard pass. Hard pass. But I know the people on the podcast and I know it's quality content, but man, that's tough to enter into. So we've really largely tried to focus our interviews to like 35 to 45 minutes. And we've tried to focus our duo cast to like 15 to 25 minutes.

Content Condensation Strategy

00:01:56
Speaker
Yeah. And so to go weekly to produce content at that time and that rate on a weekly basis, it's a lot of work. And so I think strategically,
00:02:06
Speaker
Well, I like this too, because sometimes when I listen to a podcast, they have a really good point. And by the end of the 25 minutes or 35 minutes, 45 minutes, I forget what that good point was. Yeah. Cause there's six or seven points total. Yeah, right. And so this is meant to condense it down into one thing that you can do. Cause ultimately at uncommon wealth partners, we really care that people are going down their own uncommon journey.
00:02:29
Speaker
That's why we started the Uncommon Life Project is to highlight people who are doing just that. And so if we can give you one tip that's condensed down to five minutes, we're hoping that people take advantage of it. And it also helps us get a weekly kind of content. Yeah. I think it adds a really good continuity to the podcast in the sense that there's more content.
00:02:52
Speaker
But if you're in the mood for a longer one, or if you're in the mood for an interview, or if you're just like, I just need one thing. I feel like we're gonna have something for everybody, and so. Yep, so this is gonna be the new cadence moving forward.

New Podcast Schedule

00:03:06
Speaker
We will have a simple step, which we're doing right now. And then we are going to have a regular interview with a rock star going down their own uncommon journey.
00:03:17
Speaker
then we'll probably have some kind of dual cast or maybe even a trio cast to get Aaron on board. And then we'll have back to just an interview with an uncommon person and then a simple steps. So they're going to kind of go in that cadence moving forward. I don't want to make it any longer.
00:03:33
Speaker
We're grateful that everybody's listening and we always want to be doing something that's one, providing value to people.

Seeking Listener Feedback

00:03:41
Speaker
If it's not, I want to hear from you. Uh, but if it is, we also want to hear from you too. We've had now people review it. We've had people like it, uh, and we're grateful for that. And we always want to continue to, to stretch ourselves, challenge ourselves to be better than we were yesterday. I think this is going to do that. And so thanks for listening. Thanks for it. Thanks for listening. And, uh, that's it. That's kind of it.
00:04:03
Speaker
So simple step. We enjoy a simple step. Let's keep going. Talk to you later. Thanks everybody. Bye bye.
