Speaker: Hi, Patty. Hi, Charlotte. How's it going this fall, 2026? Oh, it's hot. It's really hot. It doesn't feel like fall, but I did try a pumpkin chai the other day and that was great. How's it going for you this fall, 2026?
Speaker: Well, it is getting cooler here, which is great because it had been super hot and I am buying up all the pumpkin flavored items at the store. and And I still think it's too early, but I'm still doing it because I love pumpkin and I'm not ashamed of it.
Speaker: No, and we're starting to think of Halloween costumes, which is always fun too. Never too early to be thinking of that. No, not at all. Well, we are recording a little intro because we found out that making a box is harder than it sounds. Yes. have to say this was like by far one of the hardest.
Speaker: I feel like this was one of our first actual hard assignments that we got, which I appreciate. i i I like the enthusiasm that Caleb had and that he believes in us. and that he didn't dumb it down at all.
Speaker: But it's really hard. Yeah, yeah. But i i agree. i was like, oh my God, this is for reals. Okay. I got to figure out what kinds of saws we have. i got to figure out when the lumber store is open. And however, I do want to, and and just as a heads up, this is not and a recap episode about the box making because we are still in the midst of that. um We're just we're we're introing the rerun. but um But I did decide to take a Udemy class about diorama making.
Speaker: Excuse me? What's a Udemy class? Oh, Udemy. Is that how you pronounce it? Okay. yeah don't know. Oh, my God. Charlotte, that's what you wanted to do. It's what I wanted to do. Yeah. And you know what I figured out is that – dioramas can be in boxes.
Speaker: Yes. So I am combining these two and I'm going to make a box that has like, you know, not all the sides. And then I'm going to put a diorama in it.
Speaker: Oh, I love this. I can't wait to know. don't want to know yet, but I want to know. i can't wait to find out what the topic of your diorama is like. Yeah. is it yeah I've only gotten to materials in the course so far, so I i don't know yet.
Speaker: I don't know yet, but I do feel like it'll be either cozy or weird. Probably not realistic. Well, and maybe cozy with us like weird so weird things need cozy too. so Yeah. um Oh, this is exciting.
Speaker: Thank you. Thank you. appreciate it. And I can't wait to find out more about that too, which we will do in our follow-up episode. Like Charlotte said, this is not the follow-up episode. It is our explanation of why the follow-up episode is going to be delayed in that it's just taking us more time to do it. But we will
Speaker: What's that? Prevail. We will prevail. And then once we are able to make boxes, then actually it is technically true that we can do anything. Like we could make a drawer.
Speaker: We can make a cabinet. Yep. ah Probably a table. Yeah. Uh-huh. Yeah. All the things. I mean, the the the square, which I know it doesn't need to be a square. it could be a rectangle, but it is the basic.
Speaker: It's a core shape. Yeah. I don't know if that's true, but I said it. Seems like it's true. There's not that many shapes.
Speaker: That was a dumb thing to say. they're actually go take that but We're going to take that part out. but see.
Speaker: But so we're going to rerun our very first episode. This is the one that kicked it all off. And the reason why we're running it is because, one, it's the first one, but also because it's almost the beginning of and NBA basketball season. That starts in October.
Speaker: And um I have some exciting news to announce, which is that DeMar DeRozan has come to the nuggets and you'll know the significance of this. If you listen to this episode and and that I might run into DeMar DeRozan while wearing my DeMar DeRozan shirt, this could happen.
Speaker: Yes, and you'll be able to go to a show ah to to a show. You'll be able to go to a game, see him play live for your team, one of your teams, you know but your home team, and get a DeMar DeRozan Nuggets jersey. Yes. my gosh. And they wear every single day.
Speaker: And just like, yeah, run into him on a hiking path at a brewery with his dog. I bet he if he doesn't have a dog, he's going to get a dog because that's what you do when you move to Colorado. so It is what you do. Yeah. I don't know if we would ever run into each other though because I think he gets up at like four zero in the morning and I go to sleep at like one zero in the morning.
Speaker: So, okay you know, yeah like ships passing in the night, but I don't know, maybe maybe sometime in the middle of the day we might run into each other. Right. Like like when he's getting ready to eat his dinner around three and you're getting your coffee around three. like Yeah.
Speaker: You guys run into each other then. Totally. Or maybe I should try to do some sort of a mental health basketball related event because he's into mental health too. Yes.
Speaker: And then I can try to lure him. Yeah. No, let's reframe that. You're going to invite him. That's what they call it these days, huh? Yeah. Yeah, I got it. When you don't have nefarious um plans, it's just an invitation. When he has the ability to say yes or no. Yeah, got it.
Speaker: Well, great. So everybody, please enjoy this rerun. It was an early one. And so I don't recall how rough the ah recordings were. I think we were in our closets. Very sure that this one i was in the closet recording in front of my coats. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, I think I was in a closet as well. um So just bear with us and enjoy our fun banter back and forth. And we will be back with boxes and information to share on that process.
Speaker: Yeah, we can do it. We can do it. Yay. Okay, bye, everybody. Oh, wait. Stay interesting. And stay interested. Bye. You know that thing you love that your friends and family don't want to hear about anymore?
Speaker: Tell it to us, Patty and Charlotte. We want to learn all about your weird and wild obsessions or your perfectly normal hobbies that you've taken just a little too far.
Speaker: We want to dabble in your curious interests. Can we interest you in today's episode?
Speaker: We figured why not start with something that one of us um is really interested in at the moment. So Charlotte, you're gonna kicking us off. And what is it that you have an interest in that you're gonna share with me today?
Speaker: All right. So this is a more recent interest, okay? And um you know I mentioned the bachelor bachelorette for a reason.
Speaker: Because can I interest you in getting into professional sports, specifically basketball, as if it's a reality show?
Speaker: Ooh. Okay. I'm listening. I'm listening. it sounds weird. It sounds like, I know that there's lots of people into professional sports.
Speaker: So it's like for me to be like, can I interest you in this is like, can I interest you in bread? But like, it's but I think there's like a way to get interested in it because I never used to like watching sports or sports at all. Um,
Speaker: But then my boyfriend, Adam, is from Chicago and hey yeah into the Bulls. So that's probably that's your team, too. Yeah. Do you watch professional sports or?
Speaker: Okay, so when I turned 27, I got really into hockey. That was the year that I got into relish and hockey. um And I love to watch hockey, but I've gotten a little bit off of watching it super regularly since I don't have... um regular television anymore. And the Hawks, Black Hawks are my team and you can't watch them unless you have like some special port sports package. um I also every year watch March Madness, the men's basketball with my, one of my longtime friends, Chris. um In fact, he'll be coming to St. Louis this year so we can do our
Speaker: annual all-day watch so I love to watch March Madness and i have kind of dabbled in baseball was a White Sox fan for so long and would go to games as well as lately tennis um I like to watch all of the opens so but I can't say I'm like a regular like I'm not watching every game yeah I'm not watching every game either but I my like entry into this world was when Adam told me about okay I think for me it's really the drama surrounding the sports that is the exciting part it is like the reality show or what kind of drama
Speaker: Like, okay, I'm going to tell you about what got me interested. So the Chicago Bulls have this player, Zach Levine, okay, who is doing good. um But then i guess last year during a game with, this is all Adam was telling me and I was like riveted. He was like int playing a game against the Orlando Magic and then The coach took him out um because I guess it wasn't going very well. And then the team started playing better.
Speaker: And then ah in the fourth quarter, the coach just didn't put him back in, even though he's like one of their more starters. Oh, my God. And then since then, he like started being a little baby boy and telling everybody. people that he wanted to be traded and just holding a grudge. And um so I think fans started to get annoyed. and You know, the team started to get annoyed. They would want him to be traded. Then this season he got injured.
Speaker: They weren't doing very well anyway, but he got injured and had to sit out for a few weeks. And when he was sitting out, the team started to do better. No.
Speaker: And then they started to have a like a little comeback. And oh my god wait, and wait, did he get injured while playing? Or was this like an off court injury? Like, I'm not sure. I think it was while playing. He seems to get injured while playing a lot is what I've gathered.
Speaker: ah But then um and then he had to come back and he had to kind of try to integrate into the team. And, you know, they started to do OK. But then he got injured again. But anyway, it was the whole like drama of he just started to have a comeback when he left. And like the karma of it.
Speaker: I love that because it's like, OK, OK. A, I feel like, you know, I played basketball in grammar school. So this was not the NBA by any means. But there was always that person who like when things weren't going well or when they whatever, they would suddenly be injured, which I'm not saying he's faking it, but whatever. And also I'm wondering, is it like they all hate him?
Speaker: And so they gel better when he's not there. Like, is he a ball hog? Is he ah just a bad energy? Or is he bad? Like, and then if he's bad, is he a saboteur? Like, is he in there being like, oh oops, I passed it to the other team. And then talking about the other team, are they like, yes, please put Levine in because he sucks so bad. Yeah.
Speaker: And I can see where that would be really fun to watch because then you'd be kind of like watching people's body language and being like, oh my God, they just rolled their eyes at him or like, oh, that's so good. Wait, so is there, there are like multiple things like this basketball?
Speaker: There's so much drama like this. Then, um okay, so then the other thing I started to do, like, was I i chose a favorite player, okay? Because then you're watching and I'm i'm watching the game and I say to Adam, i like, who's that guy who has a large shoulder tattoo of Heath Ledger as the Joker?
Speaker: no Yes. ah i was like, he's my favorite player. There's no good reason. That's the reason. It's his tattoo. Who is it? It's DeMar DeRozan. Oh, that's a good name. Yeah.
Speaker: And he's like, he is pretty cool because he, um I guess he like sort of speaks out about mental health and, you know, I'm in the mental health field. And so that's interesting. um i Then I learned, you know, some some of the, like Adam sometimes gets mad at him, but he gets mad at all the players. So yeah. Really, that's sure.
Speaker: That's what happens when you're a fan for like decades. But when you're a new fan, you could just pick a random player and be like, that's my favorite. And then my second favorite is a guy who looks like he should be playing football, but he's playing basketball. And that's why I like so Andre Drummond.
Speaker: but Oh, that sounds like a football player name to Drummond. Wait, OK, so DeRozan, is that his name? DeMar DeRozan. Do you think that he has Heath Ledger on him because Heath Ledger had like the Joker had mental health stuff? Do you think that's why he chose that as a tattoo?
Speaker: Yeah. Or maybe like Heath Ledger himself because he had some. I'm not really sure. i also like that that's like three or four Jokers ago. You know, that's like. Yeah.
Speaker: throw yeah I am sticking with this. Yes. Yes. Okay. And then are you like Googling up like, oh, wait, what's the drama there between these other things? Or like, how are you getting, is it all of your information about the drama of these players just from Adam's knowledge? Or do we have like a resource where we can find...
Speaker: Yes, this is going to be part of my assignment for you. There's a podcast. There's like millions of like podcasts and then like, I don't know, other resources, but I think that those are probably the most fun. There's like one that's like a daily podcast for like every single team, which... seems a bit much but if you just even look at the list of topics it's all like drama you know i think the bulls especially because then you can even go back as far as like Michael Jordan and then there's that whole the last dance um you know on Netflix uh documentary oh yeah and plenty of
Speaker: Oh, right. Yes. That's a good, that's a good one to watch. And yeah, like plenty of drama with like ah Rodman because he was just drama in and of himself. And then was it Dwayne? No.
Speaker: Rose, Derek Rose was with the team for a while. And I remember he was another one that was like big dreams. Everybody was like, great, great, great. He sucked. The team sucked. And then he was like, i want to be traded. So yeah, what is with that?
Speaker: It's like, there's a history here. Yeah. And that's the other thing about it that is especially fun um is that I just like to call them all either like baby boys or little boys when I'm watching. It just makes it more fun. And then you can use it like in a kind of derogatory way, like you're like, LeBron James is just a ah a little baby boy who is always wanting attention or you can use it in like an endearing way that's like oh our boys came to play because they're doing well you know and it just makes it more fun you know I mean I know they're they're adults with skills and professional you know personas and they they they're full grown adults but it just it's more fun
Speaker: that way. i Oh, absolutely. Yeah. And I mean, when you think about it, like, yes, sports are like very valued in our country and like paid well, but it is ultimately a game that children play. So boys works, I think. um Oh my gosh. Okay. So podcast, that's good to know, because i always think like any sports podcast is either going to be like,
Speaker: Well, mostly it's just going to be like stats or like what they should do as like blah, blah, blah in the paint and do the number four defense. And really his skill is not on the three point line, you know, that kind of stuff where I'm going to be like, i don't, your color commentary is lost on me. Um, but to know that they might tell me about like the drama of things and then they're like in between teams because like, yes, these people sometimes play for a team for a long time, but sometimes they get traded. And so then it's like, you're playing against your former teammates and then there could be drama there. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, this was like the second piece of drama that got me interested is when I said, like, who's that man with that Heath Ledger tattoo? Then Adam told me about DeMar DeRozan, who I guess played for me like I think it was the Toronto Raptors. I'm not that great at it yet. Yeah, the Raptors. And like.
Speaker: was happy there, whatever, blah, blah, blah. And then apparently his coach said, like, we're not going to trade you. And then he finds out, like, from the internet or something that he got traded.
Speaker: Uh-huh. Like, who does that? But and then he I think that that was maybe when he ended up at the Bulls or I might be wrong about that. But just, you know, anytime he does well, I'm like, ha ha.
Speaker: Just stick it to your old coach. And like management or ownership or whoever like made those decisions too. Because then you're not just doing like the players, but you're like hating corporations. And like, i remember, oh who was the owner? Reinsdorf, I think, was the owner of the Bulls for like forever. Maybe still is.
Speaker: And people would boo when he would go out on like... the court and like give the rings and stuff like that back in like the 90s three-peat era like people hated him and it's like i wonder why so that might be something I look into in this like yeah and like also because like some more more and more owners are becoming like celebrities like Doesn't Jay-Z own a team or two? ah And then, like, Mark Cuban used to be the owner of the Mavs, I think. I don't know. i could be going crazy now.
Speaker: But, like, so many rabbit holes to go down, you know? Like, I went down a rabbit hole of, like, what's their daily schedule like? Yeah. Like, what are they eating? Where are they staying? What do they do with their time? And you can look it up and be like, what – You know, what's their daily routine? And there are websites that will just kind of tell you generally what their daily routine is, because it's not at all like my daily routine. So it's fascinating to me.
Speaker: Right. Like down to even like how many eggs do they eat in the morning? to Like, can they decide what to eat or are they told what to eat? I think that they get that's given to them, but then otherwise, of course, they can just eat what they want.
Speaker: So they're kind of like astronauts. i'm given They're like a commodity, too, which is kind of another weird thing about it.
Speaker: Well, and that's where it comes into play with the March Madness being that that's college. And so they're not allowed. And I think there's been some change in this recently, but they're historically were not allowed to take any deals. So they couldn't make money, at the players themselves. And yet it's like the schools are making so much money. there There are companies that are making a lot of money, you know, so people are making money off of them.
Speaker: And yeah, so they really are a commodity. And then you make a lot of money once you go pro in theory, if you're any good. But then you think about also like the length of your career and what happened, like, what do you do after you're like a former pro basketball player, which I suppose we have seen on The Bachelor a few times. Usually it's football players, but like, you know, then you've got to find like a new job.
Speaker: Yeah, that's true. And I mean, how many... jobs can there be where you're like the color commentary and or commentary or um I don't know coaching do they go into coaching I think that would be something it could be yeah but I mean I suppose not all players are good coaches like You know, like, I'm fine at my job, but I hate when I have to train somebody to do it.
Speaker: Like, I'm not a teacher at all. But yeah. Interesting. It's just like, I think it's so different from, you know, most people's lives. So it's just interesting me. Yeah.
Speaker: Well, and then thinking about, like you were saying, like, what are they doing? You know, where are they sleeping? Whatever. So they're on the road so much. And then they're, of course, like groupies. So they're going out and partying.
Speaker: And I'm sure they're still getting into trouble. Like, i think about, like, the days of, like, R.I.P. Kobe Bryant, you know? And, like... out partying getting into trouble um even like lamar odom remember the husband for a brief time of chloe kardashian and he was like really into drugs and partying and stuff like that so it's like how are you how are you performing like at peak performance and going out late
Speaker: Yeah. Crazy. Like people with office jobs have a hard time. Well, I just speak for myself. but Yeah. It's not easy to do ah just a ah regular job, one that doesn't involve my body, just my brain.
Speaker: But if I've been out late or you know, not taking care of myself. So if it literally involves my body. And like an elite skill. I don't know how they do it.
Speaker: also And then also um i learned that like Michael Jordan would go out late and he'd he'd be fine. He'd be out just, I don't know, gambling because he's gambler, stuff like that. Oh, yeah. And he'd be fine. He'd be like getting up at, I don't know what time it was, like 4 or 5 a.m. m and doing like a little boot camp with his teammates at his place.
Speaker: Oh, my God. I wonder if it that's because, like, they're all so young. Like, you know, thinking back to, like, my 20s, be like, oh, yeah, let's go out for dollar beer night, stay out until the bar closes at 2, and then go to work at 7 the next day. And I'd be like, no problem.
Speaker: I'm 22. That's true. but that's true i Yeah, I am like, Yeah. ten fifteen to twenty years hold her yeah Hmm.
Speaker: Yeah. Does Adam know any of the goss about like off court stuff? ah Is that anything that he shared with you or You mean like who? like who or Or like, oh my God, that person got caught up in a scandal, like a cheating scandal or. also told me so much about that.
Speaker: Like I'm sure he hears about it if it impacts the game. but sure um But yeah, mostly it's stuff like. like oh wait I did hear this I think that um maybe Michael Jordan's son is dating Scottie Pippin's ex-wife wife yeah and I know that from Real Housewives of Miami because she's on that um some of these things I'm like everybody probably already knew these things and I'm just learning them now ah No, but you know what's weird is like, so apparently um the latest episode was where, um and this will date it quickly, but was where Michael Jordan was asked while in Paris, like by a reporter, probably like TMZ or whatever. um do you approve of Marcus and Larsa's relationship? And he like laughed it off. And then when they asked again, he was like, no.
Speaker: And she was like, but he was laughing. he was like laughing. And she's like, his mother approves because I posted a photo and she put three hearts on it. And then I was thinking, I'm like, wait a second, his mother.
Speaker: is Michael Jordan's ex-wife you're Scotty Pippen's ex-wife that means like you guys used to be like friends or like peers you know what i mean and for them that to now be like oh yeah when I used to go out to dinner with Larsa Pippen I didn't expect her to like date my son later like it's just weird yeah did she what's the age difference there Good question. i think he's in his upper 30s and she might be in her 40s. So like maybe 15 years or something. Yeah, because I'm sure theyre yeah they were like in their 20s before playing. and so
Speaker: Yeah, I can't recall. Yeah, but... weird oh that's fun yeah yeah it's just uh it's like a never-ending world of entertainment and i think i had just not thought of it that way you know reality show but the people have actual skills that and also kind of none of it matters very much You know?
Speaker: Right. Because you're not totally invested. Right. It feels very painful when they're not doing well and we're watching a game. Obviously, that's because Adam feels very pain. I'm like, oh, no. baby boys are not doing good. Come to mama. Come to mama.
Speaker: Eat your orange slices. um You know, the normal gossip a host, is it Kelsey McKinney? Yeah. Yeah. My brother, Charlie, you know, and was telling me that she had an article about like something kind of similar where um she would choose ah a baseball player who's like a...
Speaker: you know, a new baseball player who's not living up to his full but potential, not a hot new player, whatever. And she would adopt him as her terrible little son. and stop It's like the the requirements are, you know, what I mentioned, and also that you love him with all of your heart. but ah And was this because she like watches baseball anyways? And so it was a way to like feel more invested?
Speaker: i think I think so. I think she's like ah an average baseball fan, like the kind of fan who and when she moves somewhere becomes a fan of that team. So like not die hard.
Speaker: Yes. Yeah. Well, and that reminds me like there was a year where my buddy Drew asked me to do fantasy baseball with him and his friends. And they'd been doing fantasy for forever. And I had never done it before. And so I was like, oh oh, my God, I know like my players, but I don't know other players. And you can't just pick your own team. And it was disastrous because they did like an online, like, cool, like you pick your teams thing. And I didn't even understand how it worked. And the first player that I picked was somebody who was like already on disability, like the the disabled list, like they were like, so he had to like shut down the whole like process and be like,
Speaker: hey, let me call you and explain how this works. I've just felt like such a fool. But it was part of the reason I wanted to do it was because I was like, oh well, then I'll be more invested in like these games because I have a player on almost every team. So no matter who the Sox are playing, you know, knowing that they wouldn't always play every team, but then I'd like have more of an interest in it. So it's such a good idea. Like, I love that you chose your DeRosa and, and your number two.
Speaker: Yeah. Andre Drummond. I just, don't know. They're just seeing them. It makes me happy. Although now, yeah, I like them all. I've been well known. Some of them, I see them that they're going to come on the court and I'm like, uh-huh.
Speaker: and don't think Because they play poorly or you just like don't like the look of them? or No, because they they haven't been playing well. and but And then we were listening to or actually watching a ah podcast of of the Bulls and um one of the hosts did refer to one of the younger players as... um my My precious little boy. So I think. i was just but Oh, my precious little You can claim them as your own. It's just feel like.
Speaker: It keeps reminding me there was this player who I remember watching him during March Madness, and then he was on the Bulls for a short period of time. I wonder where he plays now. He might be retired or just not playing anymore, but his nickname was Big Baby, Big Baby Davis. And so would be like, Big Baby Davis, here comes Big Baby Davis. Ooh, Big Baby Davis. He messed up that rebound, you know, because he wasn't very good. He was just like big and kind of moved around like a baby.
Speaker: but and i think he was on a team like where like in college where they're like color was like a light blue or something like very baby also but but he just came out of the hospital but he's my big baby he was a 20 pound baby it was natural um Yeah, and this excites me too to be thinking about this because every like Chris and I still remember the year that we watched Steph Curry in March Madness. And that was like before he was Steph Curry, you know? And then it's like, then you see them go off. So it's always like, who's going to be that next Steph Curry of like –
Speaker: that you see now and then they go on to be like a number one pick or whatever. So see, I hadn't thought of it that way. And March madness is coming up, right? I mean, it is.
Speaker: So, right. But it could be one of those things like October fest doesn't really take place in October. Um, yeah. that's But yes, no, it is coming up. And so I think like one of the first days, first full days of like actual play, not like the play in kind of things like um is March yeah.
Speaker: so Yeah, I think um I hadn't thought of it like that. i thought of it more of just as a sea of people who I don't recognize and wouldn't know. But when you think of it like, oh, we could be seeing some talent that's like, you know, yet to come. Yeah. Or that's there, but you get to just witness it. Well, I mean, it's like that that um women's basketball person who everybody is talking about constantly o rightly is that her name oh i don't know anything about it who's on university of iowa i cannot remember her name but um she's just been like blowing everybody out of the water and like setting all these records and i mean they were talking about her during a bulls game so oh cool like
Speaker: that's well And there's not as much, I would imagine, that there's not as much of a pull for, ah you know, like so often the men will do like a year or two of college, though there's no longer a requirement, I don't think. Like you used to be required to like do a certain amount of college before you could go pro, like go to the and NBA. But I don't think there's a requirement anymore.
Speaker: But there's still like some pull to do it because, you know, you get noticed and things like that, but then you could make a lot of money. Whereas like with WNBA, I don't know what the rules are but that of was like that, but you're also not going to make a ton of money. So like, what's her big draw to like, I'm just saying, I could see why she's still playing in college, you know, like.
Speaker: Yeah. I think they do end up playing like more often all four years. Because you're probably going to have to like use that degree for something else. Which just sucks.
Speaker: Yeah, because I mean, i guess it's the same dilemma, but with less money overall. Yeah. You know, shoes and things like that, like getting sponsorships.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. And fewer people watching, so then the commercials don't get you don't get as much for that. um Going back to March Madness, I'm remembering that you won a bracket one year. That was the most exciting one ever.
Speaker: because I didn't know anything about it. And I just chose a bunch of teams. This is where I worked. um And i got, i think, all four of the final four, correct?
Speaker: And I did get the last one incorrect, but still won. And it was amazing. That was the most interested I've ever been in crunch madness. And it's weird. i'm it would Was Michigan State one of the Teams you chose. Yeah. Yeah. yeah Okay.
Speaker: That's so funny. Yeah. That was a long time ago. Cause I think you were living on California at that time. Yeah. That was back at my first job out of grad school. Wow.
Speaker: wa Wow. wow You know, that, that inspires me to try to find a, you know, some sort of a pool or something this year for March. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, I always as love they go. Well, OK, so speaking of that's a nice segue. So the way that we're going to do this is, you know, someone tells us about their interest and kind of sells us on it and we can talk about it. And then the next piece is hopefully that person will have an assignment for us to try it out, see if we could get interested into it. So what is your assignment for me?
Speaker: okay Okay, there's a podcast called Locked on Bulls. I would say stick with the bulls because apparently there's always a lot of drama and because you're from Chicago, so you're you got like a foundation for that. I'd say just listen to some episodes. You could also, you know, look for player profiles, um some of the maybe season previews from before and the season just to kind of know like the – The lay of the land.
Speaker: The problem with the games themselves is what you had mentioned before, is it just it's not that easy to to watch a lot of games unless they're, you know, you're you've bought into some kind of um service, I guess, or ESPN, I don't know. Mm or if they're being broadcast somewhere but also that i feel like the games themselves are interesting but i used to just think that they were
Speaker: like just a bunch of sneakers squeaking in a gym and When I had yeah no context for it, I just was like, it's just a lot of squeaking. And now that I know the context, you know, some of it and starting to understand it more, I'm like, oh. so So I feel like it's really, it's all about everything around it and all the the weird stories and dramatic stuff and stuff.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. but Get me to care about these people. So I care what's happening. ah Okay. All right. And I think I will try to like bind, I'll look up their schedule and see if they're going to be playing yeah a game that would be like a main game, you know, because unfortunately St. Louis doesn't have a basketball team. That's kind of weird because they've got a few other, like a bunch of other teams, right? Well, and the Rams was their football team and they went to LA a couple of years ago. Yeah, I know.
Speaker: I know. So now they have a newish soccer team, which is very good. And people are all in on, and then hockey, the blues. um And then obviously baseball Cardinals, but yeah, no basketball. So I think I'll just like maybe look up cause this will be a good opportunity for me to also like get myself to out to bars and try to find like my new, you know, go to neighborhood kind of join.
Speaker: Okay. I love, I love this assignment because I'm already interested and then this will get me going. And unfortunately, are you on Reddit?
Speaker: No. Oh, don't do it. Don't do it. I go like, talk about rabbit holes. And I mean, it just like is random things that you might be interested in. And it's just people commenting, like pop but po posing theories or questions or whatever. And then like everyone commenting on it, but I, so I will lose hours there. So I was going to say, maybe I'll look on Reddit too, but maybe I won't. We'll see. We'll see how that goes. I'll report back.
Speaker: Like set a timer, you know? Yeah. they yeah Yeah. But and I want to hear what's on the Reddit threads because yeah, I could see the where that would be. it's It's always like the, I don't know, stuff like the daily schedule and like, what are they eating? And some of that stuff too, that I'm just, don't know why. I just want know. Because they're like so foreign to us.
Speaker: yeah It's like such a different lifestyle. Yeah. But I'm sure they have no interest in my daily schedule or what I'm eating. No, they don't. it's Hey, when are the next what of the next Olympics?
Speaker: o Oh, Paris, right? Okay. And is that going to be summer? Yeah, i think it's like July. yeah. So then maybe we could see like who is going to be on the USA team, if anybody. Yeah. Oh, I forgot about that. Okay.
Speaker: That would be great. Oh, and I'm going to a Nuggets game on um Wednesday because I'm onm off this week. So I'm going to get to go to the game. And they're actually a team that's doing well, which is nice. Oh, that's cool. Have you been to their stadium or arena or wherever they play?
Speaker: I went once um last year. It was like Christmas Eve right around Christmas. And I i i was wearing a mask because I was getting over COVID. So this time I think it's going to be. Although my little nephew Tommy was there because he likes basketball. And it was really pretty cute because he was just learning like how to clap. Yeah. Oh, I love when little kids are like so awkwardly clapping, missing their hands. Do you guys have video of it?
Speaker: I think we do. i'll I'll find it and I'll send it. Oh, that's so cute. Yeah, but this will be better in that you're not sick and and you don't have to worry about like going to work the next day either.
Speaker: Yeah. And I'll kind of know a lot more what's going on. At that time, I just, and I don't know. I just was like, oh, bright lights. Oh, their mascot is paid a lot. Those are the things I'm interested in. Yeah. How are their soft pretzels and nachos? Yes, that's always my number one concern.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. And I do like dancing along to the songs. um Wait, so are do you know any of the Nuggets players? I just know Jokic.
Speaker: the Okay. Well, and then I do know there's like Murray, maybe. I asked about the players and I'm trying to learn more about them before I before i go but I mean, yeah they won the whole thing last year.
Speaker: That was pretty cool. Both of those last names that you just said are like sounded like or are the last names the like two major um men's ah tennis players. So I just think that's funny. Yeah. Tennis. Okay. Yeah. Because you're getting into tennis.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So just interesting. It's like, I wonder if there's something to that, you know, like to people with this last name, are they more athletic or is it just a common name? You know, Murray, pretty common. phone um catch Not so much.
Speaker: I might not even say it right, but. Well. Whatever. Okay. That's excellent that you'll be going to one too. I do like trying to like memorize, like my, I remember watching hockey. My dad's super into hockey. He loves the Blackhawks. And so we were watching one night when I was visiting them. And I was like, oh, man, these are so many like new players that I don't know.
Speaker: And i was like, let's try to make a list of all the players, like last names and numbers. And he was like, we could just look it up. And I was like, no, no, let's do it like old school way. We're like trying to just like look at them as they like zip past your screen, you know, and like make it down. And it was so fun. But it also really I realized like how hard that is to do in hockey because they're like constantly moving and like. You know, feel like hockey is is one that is like equivalent to basketball in just how fast everything's going. and
Speaker: Yes. And how long the season is. The basketball season is crazy long. ridiculous Yeah. Yeah. You know, Adam and I just moved in together. So he had warned me ahead of time. He's like, I watch a lot of Bulls games. Yeah.
Speaker: but and I was like, oh, good. More free time for me me. time. And then I just started watching them with him. and and i have no one More us time yes of time. Except that he gets so mad. And I'm like, haha, yeah, like, just so excited. And he's like seizing because they're not doing well.
Speaker: but like, as long as everyone's having a good time. Yeah, like I'm seeing my favorite faces, all my friends. And baby boys. boys. by but but Yeah, and he's just like, and like ah I have to turn it off.
Speaker: but ah Getting his blood pressure too high. That's why my dad now like records all of the Hawks games. And then if he knows they won, he'll watch them. Oh, see. Yeah, absolutely. yeah But he's also older, so it's okay. yeah um So my assignment, I'm going watch.
Speaker: Wait, it was a very clever because it was like Ram, like how bulls get locked, locked. Yeah. Locked on Bulls. Your memory is good. Locked on Bulls.
Speaker: it's a Locked on Bulls. I'm going to be listening to some of those. you know how much I love listening to podcasts. yeah Oh my God. This is chosen just for you. Yeah, this is so this is so good. And then i might do a little I'm definitely going to look at their their roster because I need to see people's faces to then get into it. You know, like I've been listening to recaps of The Bachelor this year.
Speaker: i don't know. And I haven't watched any yet. so I'm like, I don't know who any of these people are other than Joey. And I adore him. And listening just makes me adore him more. But so I want to listen. I want to look at them so I know who they are when I'm like putting together my stories in my head.
Speaker: And then I'm going to try to catch a game at a bar. Yeah. And then should we like get back together and record how it all went down?
Speaker: Yes, let's do that. And then in the meantime, I'm just going to give myself an assignment, which is to go to the game. Yes, check. Yes, check. And then I think I'm going to try to find out more about the March Madness. Just get ready for that because that would be fun. And I don't know a lot about, like, I guess I've been here five years, but I'm still kind of new. So in a sense, so I can yeah find out where where people go and watch those things.
Speaker: Cool. All right. Well, then I'll talk to you later. Talk to you later. Thanks for listening to my interest. Oh, thanks for sharing. It's funny because it's like, I know you well. And so I was like, what did she tell me? What could it possibly be? And I have to say, even though I knew you were watching more basketball with Adam, this is not what I thought it was going to be. And I love it.
Speaker: Yes. Good. I am glad. Yeah. I was like, it's kind of weird because it's a normal thing that everybody knows about. Yes. But like they say, new to you.
Speaker: Yes, exactly. Thanks. All right, cool. Bye. Bye.
