Speaker: What do you call an underground group of solar professionals on a mission to create a more sustainable world?

Speaker: We call ourselves solopreneurs.

Speaker: And while some might call us crazy, foolish, and dissatisfied with the status quo, we're the ones taking action to create a better future for ourselves and the world.

Speaker: Solopreneur is dedicated to give you, the solar professional, the tools, skills, technology, and mentorship to take the industry by storm and sell more solar with less effort.

Speaker: We are solopreneurs and this is our story.

Speaker: Last thing here on confidence, I want to talk about a secret weapon I think the industry is not utilizing whatsoever.

Speaker: We've adopted the polo shirt, gym shorts, t-shirt, gym shorts, sloppy looking company swag, t-shirts, baseball cap type of look in the industry and I think it needs to stop.

Speaker: Here's why.

Speaker: Your dress the way you dress is a projection of your personality and it says to the world Hey, this is what to expect from this person, right?

Speaker: That's the hard core truth like people are gonna judge you off your appearance in the way They're gonna judge you say well James is dressed in all black today.

Speaker: I'm actually wearing all black today for this recording and

Speaker: They're going to say, hey, James is dressed in all black.

Speaker: This means boom, boom, boom, X, right?

Speaker: James is dressed in a suit.

Speaker: This means boom, boom, boom, boom.

Speaker: He's going to be this kind of guy when I'm dealing with him, right?

Speaker: These are the thoughts that just subconsciously go through your prospect's mind, potential partnerships, whatever.

Speaker: They're thinking about these things by the way you dress.

Speaker: So I'm going to give you a real concrete example of the power of this.

Speaker: Just yesterday, I was at Lumen HQ, and I was down in the lobby.

Speaker: We're in a shared building.

Speaker: I was down in the lobby, and I was just looking out the window, just hopping off of a phone call, and I was wearing a full suit that day.

Speaker: I was doing a training, doing some other videos.

Speaker: So we h ad a full shirt and tie, nice fitted suit, and I had this guy.

Speaker: He came up to me, and he just started talking to me.

Speaker: because I was wearing a suit.

Speaker: Turned him into a lead.

Speaker: Now we've got an appointment, okay?

Speaker: Because I was wearing the suit and it got his attention, okay?

Speaker: And that could sound superficial, but honestly, people would rather start a conversation with a guy who looks good in a suit, who's well-presented, he's polished.

Speaker: And that same day, I went across the street from our office to Starbucks to get a coffee in the morning and literally, I started a conversation with the woman next to me in line and turned that one into an appointment as well.

Speaker: because I felt great wearing my suit and I was going to talk to her, right?

Speaker: It wasn't a problem.

Speaker: So no, you don't have to wear a full-blown suit, but realize it's not a bad idea.

Speaker: Keeping polished, getting good haircuts, spending time at the gym, wearing good clean clothes, investing in your wardrobe, right?

Speaker: These are things you got to think about as a solar professional because you're on the front lines dealing with people and you're dealing with large contracts.

Speaker: You're dealing with $25,000, $30,000, $50,000 contracts.

Speaker: In commercial, you're dealing with half a million, million-dollar contracts, $10 million contracts, right?

Speaker: You've got to look the part.

Speaker: You've got to act the part.

Speaker: This is one of the easiest ways to do confidence, guys.

Speaker: I don't know why you wouldn't use it other than pure laziness and fear of what other people think.

Speaker: Go put on a nice suit, put on a nice outfit, see how it feels.

Speaker: It makes a difference.

Speaker: Let's get to the next section.
