Podcast Introduction

00:00:09
blessings
Hello and welcome to the Daily Brighton Podcast. I'm your host today. Blessings to Bamba. And I'm joined by my good friend, Joe. How are we doing?
00:00:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, mate, it's so good to be back, mate. It's good to be back. I feel like I'm barely ever on the pod, but um'm I'm here now, mate.
00:00:26
blessings
We are missing one more today and Mr Jamie Guerra, who's away in Europe. So we're wishing him a good time.
00:00:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, they I mean, so I hope he has it all right, Tom.

Topics Overview

00:00:41
blessings
Well, back to business after the international break. um Today we are going to be talking about the scouting. um that's going on in Brighton. The decision has been made on Brighton's scouting future. In segment two, we're also going to be talking about the Christmas period and the sort of the games coming up in and around that um period. It's going to be a busy, busy period for Brighton. And um finally, we've got a quick game for Joe. um He is going to give us his thoughts around the transfer prices of our current players.
00:01:15
blessings
um but Yeah, Joe, let's get straight in.

Brighton's Scouting Revolution

00:01:19
blessings
um So news has come out that Brighton are planning to um restructure the scouting team and recruitment team in terms of getting rid of sort of the actual scouts and bringing in more and more data. But before we unpack that, I wanted to ask you, in in general, football's like,
00:01:42
blessings
going into a place where it's moving towards technology and data but where do you stand with it? Are you more of like a manpower or like are you quite enthusiastic in terms of looking at data?
00:01:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think I'm sort of like halfway because I feel like there's a lot of teams that use a data-driven approach and it works um but also like there's nothing there's only so much that those sort of things can tell you about actually just looking like with your own eyes. I think I wouldn't want to go like all the way to one side where it's like you just send scouts to games because you're going to miss so many players like so if you even if you take like video and analysis out of it um because I know lots of scouts are video scouts only um some do both most do both but like there's no way that you're going to be able to have you'd have to have so many scouts to send them to all these different places because good players are everywhere it's the biggest sport in the world so there's good players literally in and you can find them literally anywhere
00:02:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
um but also I wouldn't go all the way to the other end where it's like AI is just doing your scouting for you because obviously we're in that sort of like we're coming to that sort of era generation now where like AI is just like taking over with everything could like it's doing everything I'm no conspiracy theorist or anything like that but I think you don't want to go all the way to one way but if you use data and have used the manpower um especially with people who have I feel like it's easy to have the eye, but ah people, you don't just want to have people there for the sake of it. Like good scouts and ah with a combination of data driven analysis is obviously, I think the way to go.
00:03:28
blessings
Yeah, and our our degree as well, I think of a good healthy blend of both gives you such a better picture of what kind of player you are looking for, what kind of player you're going to be getting as well.

The Data Debate: Is Tony Bloom Right?

00:03:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:03:39
blessings
um But in terms of Brighton, Do you think Tony Bloom's right in doing this? Because at the end of the day his data driven method has generated so much fun. He's probably looked at it like these scouts are not quite doing it for me. Do you think he's got a right to be doing that or do you think he should be a little bit more loyal?
00:04:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know because obviously like behind the scenes you don't really know how much of it is a swing towards one way or the other. I know that there's obviously scouts there because they obviously they're getting rid of them. I've also seen the like the job opportunity on like loads of different websites and stuff like that.
00:04:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
um but it I don't know in in the future is he literally has he gotten rid of scouts permanently and he's just going to have like it's all going to be data or is he still going to have some because I know that he's is it it's like a ridiculous amount of money that he's supposed to be putting into that department I think I saw so I'm curious to see what he does with it but like it is a little bit peak obviously you don't want to see people losing their jobs um like but it just sort of depends on what the vision is and I think once you sort of hear about what is done with that money then you'll sort of have a better understanding the of the vision um but I mean he has done so well so far so I mean you can't really knock it until you see the results.
00:05:04
blessings
Yeah, that's it. And I'll agree with you like ah this, whatever it is, this number crunching computer that's, you know, you tap in these numbers and it gives you a gem from who knows where Uganda, whatever, and however it works, it seems to be working, I think.
00:05:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Uganda. Yeah. yeah
00:05:24
blessings
Again I'll echo your words, it's iss you don't want to see anyone getting sacked but if he thinks he's got to make some cuts or restructure it to sort of keep brightening ahead in terms of like the recruitment game then yeah so be it in my eyes but yeah again it's difficult to see people getting sacked you don't want to see that.
00:05:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:05:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, 100%. 100%.

Christmas Game Predictions

00:05:46
blessings
Right, um we are going to go for a short break and when we come back we're going to talk a little bit about our Christmas period and the games coming up.
00:06:26
blessings
Hello and welcome back to the Daily Brighton podcast. um In this segment, we're gonna talk about the Christmas run. um Now, Joe, let's get straight into it. With Christmas coming up, what are you like?
00:06:38
blessings
Are you a kind of person who thinks we she just have the and but should have a break? The players need to actually breathe or do you?
00:06:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
a break we've had three of them already mate there's no break lad get back on the pitch mate this is not germany man we're not doing that winter breaks yeah but that's calm mate what do you what do you mean mate i think the bare minimum should be you should be expected to play
00:06:47
blessings
Yeah.
00:06:50
blessings
Yeah, but that's like international breaks. They're still playing.
00:06:56
blessings
Mate, have you seen the amount of games they have to play? It's insane.
00:07:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
at least so the Thursday or Wednesday to Saturday Sunday should be a pretty much like the minimum that you're expected really like the what's that so that if you go from Sunday to Sunday that that's like three games that's been a thing for so long that I feel like you should probably that All of these Nations League things, mate.
00:07:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Bin them off, mate, because they're so irrelevant.
00:07:37
blessings
yeah
00:07:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
They're actually so irrelevant. How do you even qualify for the competitions anyway? Is there even qualification anymore?
00:07:45
blessings
ah There is promotion and relegation, yeah
00:07:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Promotion, medications, internationals, mate. Just, honestly, just bin that off, mate. That's when they can have their break, right? Because if you've seen it with England, they had eight people drop out. Half of them aren't even injured.
00:08:01
blessings
cbn
00:08:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
So like Declan Rice, he apparently broke his toe. How was he playing for Arsenal the week before but now his broken toe is hurting? He's not hurt mate, he's got business to attend to at club level.
00:08:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Saka's always limping so i mean is he really injured?
00:08:14
blessings
yeah.
00:08:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Probably not. but lie
00:08:20
blessings
I have noticed that whenever the internationals are coming up, SAC is just limping on.
00:08:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, Saka's a limping bear, mate. He's been limping for like a year and a half. But like, ah but like, he's not injured. But again, he's, and then Harry Kane's come out and been like, Oh, um yeah, nothing's more important than your country. But obviously, that's coming from someone who's never won anything in his life. So I take it he needs to focus on something maybe he thinks the opportunity is there.
00:08:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Um, but yeah, i just I just don't think you need that break like the the christmas How long has the christmas thing been a thing for I don't think even players have an issue with the christmas period. I think it's more um Like it's all of the other games around it. Like basically what i'm saying like with nation's league I don't think they really care that much because they care about the qualification. Um, but Yeah,

Brighton's Festive Potential

00:09:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think they need a, they need a break from other things because they keep piling on more and more things, but not from the actual schedule that's been a thing for so long.
00:09:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Did you get me?
00:09:18
blessings
yeah Yeah, no, no, I totally get you. And I think, yeah, so I grew you in certain, in, um, to some certain extent as well. And UEFA, if you're listed in, you know, that was Joe's take someone with a suit who likes to talk about football, write that down, please. Yeah.
00:09:36
blessings
I'm bringing that to a meeting.
00:09:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. A hundred percent. Yeah. We don't want to see nations league, man.
00:09:37
blessings
ah
00:09:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
So dead.
00:09:40
blessings
But let's get Brighton involved in this.
00:09:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:09:42
blessings
So um the Christmas period could be a really, really important period for Brighton, because I think if we can get a decent amount of points during these some of these games that are there for the taking, if we can get a decent enough amount of points,
00:10:00
blessings
come January and we're still flirting in that around fifth, sixth or even in the top four, you never know. um I think it's going to be a really successful season. So I think, um yeah, I think it's going to be so important. So diving in straight away, the first three coming up the next four, so it's Bournemouth all way, Southampton at home and Fulham all way. Where do you think, where do you think we pick up points there?
00:10:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So, Southampton, I hope you need to win that. What? What?
00:10:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
You asked me, lads, I told you.
00:10:39
blessings
yeah I was just laughing because like you got straight for them, but ah I said in second.
00:10:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I skipped it. I skipped one. yeah yeah so Yeah, so three points there, definitely.
00:10:51
blessings
Yeah.
00:10:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then, to be fair, for them away, you probably take a point, really. But definitely could win that game. And to be fair, even with Bournemouth, I think,
00:11:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean they've obviously beaten City and then did they lose to Aston Villa? Did they beat Aston Villa?
00:11:10
blessings
Wano.
00:11:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Why not? It's not bad. I think the only thing is though is that like I feel like I would say win so seven points but ah seven points even like five points m that ain't that bad because all the teams around us that are going for Europe are all inconsistent as well so I think I think you're probably looking at yeah i'd I'd say aim for aim for seven but if you get five it's not that bad but you just don't lose you know I mean
00:11:44
blessings
Yeah, no, I definitely agree with you. And I think that born for way game is probably the toughest one out of them. I think born for pretty solid to be honest. Um, so a point there.
00:11:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think full of my I think full of my solid mouth is a decent Yeah,
00:11:56
blessings
Yeah. Born for Fulham solid. I think a point, ah a point, uh, a way up Fulham, a point away at born from a winner home to Southampton. I think that's quite successful. Um, for the last, for the next three, right.
00:12:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
definitely When
00:12:08
blessings
Let's quickly get through these. All right. So we've got less still way, uh, palace at home.
00:12:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
when
00:12:15
blessings
West Ham away.
00:12:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
when West Ham are pony, mate. They're so pony.
00:12:20
blessings
Do you not think they could turn it around?
00:12:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Honestly, they're so pony, mate.
00:12:24
blessings
I mean they look at that game and really fancy themselves I'm sure.
00:12:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nah, there's no chance, mate, because I've seen a couple of days ago, they've done their like um squad picture, and Falkrug is so injured, they had to Photoshop him into the picture.
00:12:34
blessings
yeah
00:12:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's not a club that I'm taking seriously about. They've got Photoshop players in there, mate. So, no. um
00:12:45
blessings
Right, Brighton at home, that's a good game.
00:12:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
What do you mean, prodding at home?
00:12:50
blessings
Sorry, ah Brentford at home.
00:12:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Brentford at home, i I think we, because Brentford have been really open this season, I think if we're solid enough at the back we should easily win that. ah Brentford are a good team, don't get me wrong, they're also like man, I think Thomas Frank is so underrated, um but I think they're just so open mate, so I would go three points.
00:13:16
blessings
And then the final one. So this would be the last game of the year is Villa away.
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's a loss, I think. I'm not gonna lie.
00:13:24
blessings
yeah
00:13:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
It depends though, because there's no, dave they wouldn't, the Champions League stops by then, doesn't it?
00:13:31
blessings
Yeah.
00:13:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think they've struggled massively, in especially in the games after. They've looked so flat in the games after their Champions League games. um Well, in their last two anyway, because obviously they beat Bayern, then they but it was an awful game against United.
00:13:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can't even believe I actually watched all 90 minutes of that game.
00:13:49
blessings
oh Yeah, that's one of the worst games I've seen this season
00:13:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that was poor. And then, to be fair, I didn't watch Bournemouth, but obviously, I swear, Bournemouth were away. so
00:14:02
blessings
yeah boom for a away ah
00:14:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so I mean, they even would probably think that they should be taking points there. so um But because that's not a thing, then I think it could be a bit of an issue because they'll be a bit more fresh. It just depends really, because Ollie Watkins has been kind of a pony so far this season. He still scored a few and he gets loads of chances, but he's just not seen like massively sort of like to the level.
00:14:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
I imagine by then, knowing our luck, he'll probably be in the form of his life again. But I think it could be a loss, but definitely take a draw away. It's such a hard place to go to.
00:14:37
blessings
Yeah.
00:14:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
um so And that's a pretty decent Christmas period there because I've only predicted one loss.
00:14:43
blessings
Yeah, that's what I was going to ask you next. Like with what we've said about these games, do you think our expectations of what we could do this season should be higher then? Because one loss between now the end of the year would be unbelievable.
00:14:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think the only places that a loss could really come from is Fulham away. um I mean, Bournemouth, it just depends on what version of Bournemouth turn up. But i wouldn't I'm not expecting a loss. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost to Fulham mainly based on how good they've been and they're also so solid.
00:15:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
um and if they and having sort of Raul Jimenez is just back from the dead I don't know what's going on but Harry Wilson's back from the dead as well um but what's the stat with Harry Wilson when we were in the pub the other day you had stats on tap with Harry Wilson was it four and three or was it less yeah
00:15:33
blessings
Oh, what was it?
00:15:38
blessings
I think I think it's like before. free some yeah He's got the like um his minutes to go ratio is insane.
00:15:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:15:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's because he's played like four minutes, man, that's what.
00:15:49
blessings
Yeah, he's back in a minute.
00:15:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it is, man. What do you think quickly, just before we move on?
00:15:55
blessings
Yeah I think I'd agree with mostly what you said but again I'm always just concerned about the games that we think that we're definitely going to win like I wouldn't mind if obviously I would mind but I would understand if Brighton went to Fulham and dropped points because Fulham are in good form um but like the games like Crystal Palace at home where
00:16:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:17
blessings
We probably looked it up so quickly and said it's a guaranteed win. We should be winning that. Those I feel like those are the type of games that constantly keep um getting us.
00:16:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ipswich at home brings to mind.
00:16:29
blessings
Mateta just randomly, just randomly.
00:16:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Crystal Palace are so cheeks though. They actually are so cheeks, mate.
00:16:38
blessings
Yeah, and they'll be up for that. They will be up for that because they they're having a terrible season so far as well. So they'll look at that as a.
00:16:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I swear to 18th.
00:16:45
blessings
Yeah.
00:16:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's peak, mate.
00:16:47
blessings
it's awful what happened to what happened to the only same money
00:16:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's so peak. To be fair, The Alisa money got put on like Kamada and that's peak, mate. To be fair, Adam Waters injured. They don't have Alisa and Anderson left. So that is not very ideal, is it, to be honest? um Let me just go through it and let me just, I'll just say the game

Match Outcomes and Strategies

00:17:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
again. and Then you say what you think it's going to be quickly before we move on. um So Bournemouth away.
00:17:09
blessings
yeah one or two
00:17:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Man's giving me the score.
00:17:18
blessings
Yeah, that's a lot.
00:17:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Southampton at home.
00:17:21
blessings
Brighton win.
00:17:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fulham away.
00:17:25
blessings
Loss.
00:17:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Leicester away.
00:17:27
blessings
Win.
00:17:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Crystal Palace at home.
00:17:32
blessings
You won't like this one. Drew.
00:17:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
West Ham away.
00:17:38
blessings
Drew.
00:17:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Brighton. Brentford at home.
00:17:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
and then Aston Villa away.
00:17:46
blessings
true
00:17:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Have you, did you say lost to Fulham?
00:17:51
blessings
Yeah, I think so.
00:17:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, so still one loss, but a lot less points than I predicted.
00:17:53
blessings
Yeah. A lot. Yeah.
00:17:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah think I think that run there until basically that takes you into the new year. I think that that run basically will solidify wherever we're going to be in Europe next season. I know it's a bit of a mad shout, but the I mean, it's pretty, it's a it's a not that bad run.
00:18:07
blessings
Yeah.
00:18:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
like really, and then the run after Aston Villa isn't great to be fair.
00:18:18
blessings
Hmm.
00:18:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it swings back around some of the bigger teams. um But I don't know, i'd I'd like to be i like to be optimistic. So, I mean, what, to get Europe?
00:18:28
blessings
do Do you think it's possible there? Yeah, to actually like get have a really good run here like we just spoken about and actually
00:18:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, 100 percent, 100 percent. ah like is is it's It's not going to be easy, but like it's definitely possible. And I do think that even conference league is so possible because when you get to that sort of point in the table, Liverpool and Man City yeah ah have like increased the gap a little bit. And then there's like basically all the teams are basically the same points. So it's going to be a lot of chopping and changing. But I think it It will definitely show what we're about in this run of games up until Christmas because it is just going to be back to back to back games.
00:19:12
blessings
Yeah.
00:19:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know that its the the games are getting a bit mad when some of them are on Amazon Prime.
00:19:14
blessings
Yeah.
00:19:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's when you know that the games are mad.
00:19:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Shout out Amazon Prime by the way. um by yeah
00:19:26
blessings
ah One thing I do, I do think it's worth noting as well is we're getting all our players back. um So we got them back, most of them came back for the Man City game. And then obviously they've now had two weeks break and that's so good.
00:19:39
blessings
I think like the Leipzig, El Pedro, Evan Ferguson should be up and running now. um It just gives us so much more options. I think, I think, I think we could definitely, definitely compete um really well in this next little period.
00:19:53
blessings
So yeah.
00:19:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Definitely, mate.
00:19:55
blessings
good timing from them.
00:19:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
100%. Why not, mate? Why not?
00:19:58
blessings
ah That's it. Right, we are going to go for another short break and then we'll be back with a quick game on transfer prices.
00:20:33
blessings
Hello and welcome back to the daily Brighton podcast.

Player Valuation Game

00:20:37
blessings
Right. So how it's going to work is I'm going to say a player.
00:20:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:20:42
blessings
I'm also going to say a value. I'm going to come up with a value for them. And then um you have to tell me higher or lower of, you know, if you want it, if you would want to sell them at
00:20:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, so so I say if it's higher or lower than so it's not it's not actually like a fact. It's just what I think.
00:21:03
blessings
no no no yeah it's what you what you think yeah and yeah um hopefully so for each one maybe we can have a couple of talking points and what you think about them um and we'll go from there okay the first one big bar vobruggen at 22 million pounds okay i'm gonna i'm gonna play let's see how where we go there's 40
00:21:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
OK, OK, OK, OK, OK.
00:21:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:21:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Higher. Higher.
00:21:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
100%. I think, to be fair, I probably think that, how old is he?
00:21:37
blessings
think he's about 20 22 yeah I don't think that's a good and okay well a lot of people would probably say has he got the right
00:21:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
If he's 22, mate, I reckon Oh, Kepa's worth like 80 mils, it's stupid like that, so... Oh mate, but you can't really go off that because that's just stupidity, isn't it? I go slightly higher.
00:22:02
blessings
body of work as a goalkeeper to be actually worth that much money. He's only been around for what, a year or so now?
00:22:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
So my my thing is, if you look around, Kepa didn't have the body of work. He was just playing. He was just playing. What memorable moments you have of Kepa before he joined Chelsea. um Liverpool signed Mabudash Villy for a similar, like a similar, around the forty I think it was like 40 mil, I think. um And that's off the back of a European Championship.
00:22:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
and some highlights on twitter i think obviously there's more into it than that but um yeah i think because the price is because he's a keeper the price i think probably keepers of fallbacks are probably the ones where you're looking at like not as much money but because i think he's one of the best he's one of the best the goalkeepers in the league especially this season i think he's been excellent this season um so I think, do you know what?
00:23:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I'd say 50. Give me 50 and we could maybe part ways and get in a keeper that's probably high potential for less money.
00:23:16
blessings
Yeah, no, I think I'd agree with that as well.
00:23:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:23:18
blessings
I think this season he's really showing his qualities and like playing that from the back has been unreal.
00:23:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:23:25
blessings
And I've said this a couple of times. um So long may it continue.
00:23:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
100%.
00:23:31
blessings
The next one um Van Heck at 22 million pounds, 40 million pounds, 60.
00:23:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
hi Higher. Higher. Never taking a minute now. but can Bring about that a little bit.
00:23:49
blessings
50.
00:23:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'd say 45 to 50, I reckon, because he's so young and he's already at the planet, the highest level. So.
00:23:58
blessings
See I disagree here. I want 60.
00:24:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
We go higher.
00:24:01
blessings
I want 60 plus at least.
00:24:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
You're 60.
00:24:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
So i can hear I can hear it though, like I can hear it, but it's just like...
00:24:05
blessings
i mean
00:24:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he needs a season um or to two maybe. He's so young. you're gonna If you sign him, you're going to get like eight years ah plus out of him.
00:24:21
blessings
And Yeah Yeah, that's it that's it
00:24:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
like If he's going to be at a club where he's going to stay, then I think you probably maybe just a a year more um than that.
00:24:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I mean, his stock's going to go up regardless because now he's got international caps under his belt and stuff. I think I wouldn't, Brighton wouldn't probably sell for a bit less than 80.
00:24:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
So if you don't want to sell the player, then why do you need to, why do you need to take the offer of lower offer? Do you know what I mean?
00:24:53
blessings
Yeah, I'm sure to Tony's not in the position of leading any P's at the moment.
00:24:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So especially if they're in contracts.
00:25:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, Tony's got hella bread, man. His bank is blooming, mate. I'm telling you now, that's bars, mate.
00:25:05
blessings
yeah Yeah, that's embarrassing for him.
00:25:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm telling you that.
00:25:11
blessings
Right, the next one's Adam Webster at 15 million pounds.
00:25:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I know.
00:25:17
blessings
10.
00:25:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
my
00:25:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
out of
00:25:23
blessings
What is scratching your head?
00:25:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah la ah i'd bite your hand off for fifteen million
00:25:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't i don't really want to pile on on him like that, but I'm trying to think.
00:25:37
blessings
um
00:25:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
He could probably go and do a job somewhere, yeah i mean but like maybe a team
00:25:42
blessings
yeah but What's a reasonable offer you'd accept from him?
00:25:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, ah I think 10's fair, but isn't he a bit, isn't he like 20, he's 30, isn't he?
00:25:53
blessings
29.
00:25:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's 20, yeah, he's almost 30. this
00:25:56
blessings
Yeah, well, well, these are according to transfer market. So.
00:26:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
trust market we We do like transfer market here, don't we, on this pod, so. I was gonna say it's cap, but like, I dunno, like I feel like, I feel like 15 mil maybe, but I feel like no one would come in for 15 mil for him.
00:26:16
blessings
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
00:26:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you know what I mean?
00:26:19
blessings
I was like, that's what I put it down. Cause I was like 15 mil. Really?
00:26:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so yeah. i it because Because you have to think it would be a low end Premier League team or a championship team. And are a championship team going to spend 15 mil or something like that?
00:26:35
blessings
Yeah, that is true.
00:26:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, so.
00:26:37
blessings
Right, let's move on. Metoma for 45 million pounds.
00:26:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
hot
00:26:43
blessings
He's 27 years old, by the way.
00:26:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's 27 higher, higher, higher.
00:26:48
blessings
60.
00:26:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm parting with like, it's probably 65, 70.
00:26:55
blessings
70.
00:26:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, but he's just, he's just electric in email. Like imagine, like if you think about it, imagine what league you could, to be fair, other league, you have to take it into consideration, other leagues don't have that money to spend on those players.
00:27:09
blessings
Yeah, that's true.
00:27:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
They actually just don't really, like some clubs do, most don't. Like the big clubs, they, okay, yeah, fair. Like Real Madrid literally just spore money.
00:27:18
blessings
Yeah.
00:27:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
They literally just, ah ah money just appears. But also, why would he go to Real Madrid when they have Vinny in there, so. um But like, am I united with pay 70 mil?
00:27:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
100%, man.
00:27:30
blessings
yeah
00:27:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
They signed James Sancho, mate. They'd do anything.
00:27:35
blessings
Yeah, that that's what my thoughts were. And I think I'll take 60 million as well, just because i' I'm thinking, like, I do love him to him, I think his quality, but similar to Dinger as well, like, he can, he will, he will start kicking on soon.
00:27:51
blessings
I know we said he's a bit, um still a bit raw and still a bit rusty at times, but there is a player there.
00:27:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
hmm yeah of course yeah to be honest mate if if
00:27:58
blessings
Let's take that P sticker, Dinger in there to start developing.
00:28:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
For me, it's ah probably an unpopular opinion, but if Tony Bloom does run out of peas, I don't know. If he does run out and he needs to, I would probably just sell Metoma purely based on the fact that he's a bit older and there's so many wingers.
00:28:21
blessings
Yeah.
00:28:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Maybe too many wingers, but I think We have a good base to let him go and sort of be like, okay, these players can because we signed Gruda who's like ready, but he has another couple like steps to go before he's like gravy and then it's the same with like a dingro minte like so I think yeah 60 mil 70 mil slap that straight back in my training ground new coffee machine
00:28:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
one of those like Joe does ice bar things my one of them in there mate yeah no it's not Jack Hincherwood is it
00:29:02
blessings
Yeah, that's what it is. Right, our final one. And it' this is a man who splits opinion on this podcast. It is Jack Incherwood, yeah. And

Jack Hincherwood's Future

00:29:18
blessings
he's valued at 20 million pounds. i know I know what I can see what you're thinking already.
00:29:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
The only thing is, though, is that he's so versatile. but like So I was having this conversation with um so with Jamie Freeman, who was a guest on our pod. And he is a he's a ah good like prospect, but his ceiling isn't that high. It actually just isn't.
00:29:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
light like that's a pretty it's a pretty solid opinion like from both of us that i don't think he's seen is that high there's a lot of players out there who have much higher ceilings there's more players in the squad who have higher ceilings but he's so versatile and he could easily be we said that he'd put if he went to the championship he could probably be the best player in the championship like eventually he'd be like solidly the best player in the championship or there and thereabouts, you know what I mean? And with him, because he's also English, I would probably imagine that adds on a couple mil.
00:30:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But like, if you're going to sign him, what are you signing him as? I think is the biggest question. Are you going to sign him as a central midfielder? Because the central midfielders and the Premier League are all pretty decent. right So I don't know if that's a... because Whereas like if he was to go to fullback...
00:30:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
There's probably a couple of teams that would take him there, but it's not really his natural position. So it's just a bit of a tough one, sort of think like, where are you going to put him? His attitude and his mental attributes will make make him go far because he's the literal role so like role model, sort of like young player that you'd want to have.
00:30:56
blessings
and
00:31:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's hungry. He has the right mindset by the looks of things. So I'd say probably a bit more.
00:31:11
blessings
yeah yeah yeah and i'll agree with you as well i think his main issue is he's a bit of an all-rounder but he's not really outstanding at anything that's the one yeah
00:31:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Jack of trades, master of none, mate. Jack of all trades, master of none, yeah.
00:31:24
blessings
That's the saying. And I think that he needs to add another dimension to his game. and In the last couple of games, we have been seeing him arriving quite late in the box, like um the go up forest and the header against City that Nader went in.
00:31:40
blessings
We've seen it a couple of times. Do you think there's any chance perhaps he turned into like a late arriving goal scorer in midfielder, Frank Lampard-esque?
00:31:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
I thought you were about to say, look, oh, mate. I was just about to say you're not about to say Frank Lampard. I knew that you're not about to say that you said it. I can't believe it. um I mean, to be fair, you you you probably could, he could be that player, a hundred percent. But like, that's like, um we both know that that is like a very difficult, the timing of that run, the risk of making that run and position gets lost and you're not there. Like, it's very hard to do front-end lampposts like one of the goats at it.
00:32:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
so maybe not to Frank Lampard's level but like he could definitely be a midfielder that scores a few from ge literally just that but I think Matt O'Reilly is that player so I mean he literally scored on his debut so and the run was so beautifully timed and it is it might seem easy when we have the you must think like oh when you have the ball in an attacking position I'll just make a run into the box but it doesn't work like that. It needs to be it needs to be right. So, I mean, hopefully he does. ah I'm always willing to get proved wrong, but yeah, give us 30 mil and then we can talk.
00:33:03
blessings
Yeah, no, I'd go i agree with that. 30 mil seems about right.
