Speaker: yeah yo yo yo Welcome back to another episode of the Don't Blame the Ref podcast. In the blue corner you have me. Amen. And then. I'm good. And then the retconning got me done.
Speaker: yeah Yeah, we're back again to talk about our favourite teams, United and Chelsea. And hopefully a little bit about another team if we've got some time. Um, But.
Speaker: Yeah, let's let's start off by talking about Manchester United versus Ipswich, was it? With a starting line -up of Dalot. Maguire, Martinez, Shaw, um the centre mid was...
Speaker: Tielemann, Santos drops to the bench with Kobi Manu in centre -mid. Fernandes just in front. Rashford gets his first start back at United. Can you imagine?
Speaker: this is can you imagine two years ago we're back this is where this is this is what we've got we've come back to and then on the right hand side um was no left oh no who's your right right hand side would have been Mbomo Mbwemo and then Kunio up top, yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. Okay. so um Final result was 5 -2. First half was shaky. I don't think so, you were actually winning the first half. I thought, right, for the most part.
Speaker: I don't think Ipswich really did anything. At the same time, I don't think we did either. Rush would look. threatening at the start. Um, And then apart from that, nothing was really happening. I didn't feel like we were in that much danger when it came to Ipswich, but...
Speaker: with our defense. Bro. this is the same defense that we could have had from what two years ago or whatever like it's but we'll probably get into it later on in the pod but Yeah, is's it's just...
Speaker: always a worry when i see this lineup that it's like bro our defense how have we not addressed it still all those defensive signings that we made and none of them are here so here's what it is But. Apart from that. And they wait, no, they had that one chance on transition.
Speaker: Yeah, um... Laments had to make it safe from Enciso. and then Yeah. Then they got that going and that was really what they really did, I think. Hmm.
Speaker: Fair enough, fair enough. um So. Let's hone in on Carrick. What? With the first couple, I know it's early and, you know, things might change. You know, players might get fitter. You might sign one or two on deadline day. but with what What do you see Carrick doing now?
Speaker: What is he trying to achieve in these matches where... What what kind of style of play? if that we I don't really care about style of play, but what sort of tactics is he deploying?
Speaker: ah For me, I think... especially in these um When we're playing against the smaller teams, it's he's very big on dominating possession. Like, even with the midfield, if you went by the narratives that were set...
Speaker: from our previous two managers on. Oh, you need physicality, you need runners, you need all that. no one None of them ever would have picked that midfield three because that screams.
Speaker: our Um, Lack of physicality. But. in practice What actually happens is you're able to keep the ball more. And if you have the ball more, then you don't need to run around as much. That's that't it's basically as simple as that. And Kobe Manu for the loss.
Speaker: I would say, what, 18? No, not 18 months. I would say... before January The narrative was... He doesn't have the physical capabilities to play centre midfield in the Premier League. can't run can't do whatever but when you really look at the underlying numbers he's wins a lot of jewels He's strong in tackles. He runs around a lot. Yes, he's not quick.
Speaker: But he's... just Pretty good in Jewel, so... I don't really worry about that aspect of his game. But in terms of... um what Carrick's looking to do. it just it For me, it just seems like...
Speaker: Keep possession. Martinez does that thing where he takes so long on the ball just to make a two -yard pass. And then. once we can isolate our wide players with their full backs.
Speaker: but then at the same time as well they don't really get much support from their fullbacks which is i don't know if that's a personal thing in terms of shows about free cheeseburgers away from latches.
Speaker: Calling it. Calling it as a footballer. Or it's just like... That's not part of the plan. i think um I think it's a little bit of a mixture of both because...
Speaker: Um, When I look at other teams who have fullbacks who push up a lot, so you can use Arsenal as an example, like Califuri is basically another attacker. at that point but you can do that when your two centre -backs are athletic and can handle 1v1 draws. in our case They can't.
Speaker: So you can't really have the fullbacks leaving them isolated 1v1 because they'll just get caught. all the time. Based off the first half, I thought, yeah, look, you know United at home against Ipswich, you're always going to... dominate possession.
Speaker: um I think. Of course, the goal that got you back into the well drew the game level. was a great finish but you know, comes from a nip switch mistake. um I think. I think you're right in general.
Speaker: I wasn't necessarily confident that Ipswich had the firepower um to actually... you know cause you damage over the full 90. That was the problem. so However, if the left wing back, um Leaf, I think his name is, if he scores that second chance, that might...
Speaker: That might have been offside. If he scores that and he's onside, then it's 2 -0. then maybe the game changes. but yeah I found Ipswich to be a little bit toothless. They found a few gaps.
Speaker: They found a few gaps, especially in your central areas. I know... I know you guys would. Yeah. decent but i think Mainu and tea lemons are not natural. screeners of the back line.
Speaker: So I think. But I think they can find... gaps in between those two especially in transition if your wingers don't tuck in quick enough. um And that's where Ipswich had a little bit of joy.
Speaker: um But... they weren't able to really make anything of it so um It's it's a shame. Nah, what do you mean it's a shame, man? All right, like what you wanted Especially after the first week, what they did to me. Nah, nah, nah, nah. I was on my way back from the Chelsea game and, man, when I saw Juan do it, I was like, oh, no, come on. But.
Speaker: it It is what it is. and I think there's still a worry. I think... I think it's going to be difficult for you guys in transition um If you don't, obviously Belabor's great.
Speaker: and belaboor Your camera is frozen, by the way. Is it moving on your end? Yeah, my end is fine. All right, come inside this one don't worry about the Now you've got Belabor coming in.
Speaker: Um... But my worry with Belabor is he's... from what i've seen he can do multiple roles Bye. he's not a natural sitter per se. um and His physicality should help you in midfield, but I'm i'm not too sure it solves all your issues. that That's my only...
Speaker: Um... That's my only worry for you guys. so Let's see how Balaba transforms your midfield. And let's see if it unlocks some more options for Coke. Yeah, I think... um That's the main difference of the way they've approached the summer.
Speaker: Last year we went from having no options to now we probably have. a plethora of options in terms of different profiles, different levels of quality and experience.
Speaker: to plug and play. we wait win all competitions this year so There can't be any excuses about we didn't do enough. in the summer especially in the midfield position. to be able to um compete on all fronts. For me...
Speaker: What Carrick has to do, first and foremost, to find his best 11. that That is the main thing that he has to do because... You can't get too trigger happy with mix and match and trying to...
Speaker: Cheers. trying new things, trying new things, because I think. Well, he did well. ah when in his interim period was He found something that worked and he just stuck with it.
Speaker: And he saw the benefits of doing that. And... You can have a deep squad, but... Other than that, it's not that. Everyone, if it's as long as we're winning. everyone isn't going to be upset that they're not playing. You'll get your minutes here there and if we're able to do this to teams earlier on in the game if we're up 3 -0 by the 60th minute you guys can come on and do You can. do the subs that you need to do so people get more minutes. it well every Every single game is a dogfight. It's not going to happen.
Speaker: So yeah. Yeah, I'll see it. So... Look. Without trying to apply... Too much pressure on Rashford. um We can see the last time a comment was made about Rashford, Rashford tweeted back to um the and the overlap and and told them to let him focus on his football. If people stop talking about him, he can focus on his football. but How did he play today? um
Speaker: In your opinion, um it I think it's... it's really interesting to see whether he's you know got the stomach to to make this United stint work.
Speaker: after I think it was really good. really good I'm not even going to lie. that That's the kind of performance that I think should be a base level for Rashford. He was threatening in the positions he needed to be. He should have got an assist, but Mbwemo... somehow miss from two yards out.
Speaker: so he wouldn't have gone this is straight away um also as well he had a back post of volley that the keeper did well to save on another day he's walking away with a golden assist like he He was contributing. Every single time he got the ball on the left -hand side, he was running at his fullback, run that running at him, running at him.
Speaker: trying to do too much and also as well what i've noticed Because of the tendencies of our attackers, we don't really have anyone who runs in behind. And I noticed the only people who were doing that...
Speaker: What? Bruno and Rashford. But. Now that... Rashford is in the team maybe you can do that a bit more because now you've got potentially Kobi Manu you've got Tielemans and you've got Bruno who are always going to be looking for you on the transition so you might get a few goals off that so I think for your first Home game back.
Speaker: he did everything i needed to see from him to say yeah he's going to be fine this season And also as well, he was doing, he was playing into it a bit in terms of like, he was doing the tracking back. He was making s slide tackles in the corner. he There was a time he lost the ball. he He tracked back. He kept tracking tracking back, then ended up winning the ball. like That's, yeah the United fans are so easy. to win back. All this talk that everyone was doing. It's so easy. Just.
Speaker: Do the basics of football. though Now the overlap has nothing to talk about this week. You can't talk about Rashford. He had a decent game. What can you say? well let's let's be honest it was always going to be in my opinion was always going to be results based um I think he could have done the exact same performance. without a GNA.
Speaker: And if United lost... Some people are going to talk about him. um Yeah, they would have been saying, oh, did he do enough? Did he, oh, he's back. He's not doing enough to carry them. That's it. that's it i genuinely think it's reached that point um and you know an argument could be made that you are being talked about in this way because you're so talented. um yeah but i still think it's a backwards way to think where when um You don't win, you blame your best players.
Speaker: I think I understand the best players have the talent to make a difference in the game. But if my club employs players that aren't of the level that bring the level of the squad down.
Speaker: then I think that's a bigger issue than my best player not scoring two goals every game. Yeah. Bye. that's just That's just me. That's just me. And yeah, like, um I'll be...
Speaker: um doing a disservice if we don't. talk about Bruno as well, that comment man, the hat trick. after After the first game. Yeah, but yeah yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, you were cussing this guy again, man. Last week you were cussing him and I just left you to it because I'm just like.
Speaker: This guy's going to bag goals anyway. So, like, i just I just left you to it. But that's the that's the thing. My criticisms of Bruno are all... still very much true. like when he He's going to contribute. He's going to get goals and assists.
Speaker: at times he's a bit wild with his decision making. When the game, when our backs are against the wall, he he starts losing his head. is it That doesn't make what I said a lie. It just, I'm putting out the obvious, but also as well.
Speaker: that finish for the first goal bro you took that like a strike on your week of thought running then behind the children. smashed it in near post bro that's that's a proper striker goal and in the second one panicy but off the back of Kobi Mainu dribbling in between three midfielders and sliding through Konya and then... um Just tucks away the penny easy
Speaker: and then the The penalty was, I mean, not penalty, the third goal. right place, right time, couple shots, the ball just drops to him and he scores a hat -trick. Like, that's that's the... um Bruno Fernandes experience I'll say one week you'll get whatever he served up at Hull.
Speaker: And then next week. You'll get. GA like. That's just part of part of the game. But I think... um also as well. The thing. To not not focus on but um i don't know if you know you um if you know culture kansas but he basically She had the same sentiment. like last Was it last week or the week? but It might have have been after the whole game. And he was getting caught for it, caught for it. Even Bruno scores a hat -trick, he's still getting caught for it, getting caught for it. but
Speaker: I don't know the day. His comments still aren't. Um... False because guess what we still haven't won any major trophies his his main point was that he doesn't know if a midfield with Bruno Fernandes can lead to us winning major honours and it hasn't yet so We just have to wait and see. Maybe.
Speaker: duh. inclusion of the label. and Carrick and figuring out how to plug the holes that Bruno leaves because today he was basically playing as a second striker. I'm not even going to lie. We'll play in two up top. So, but then, but then here's, here's, here's where i I would cook culture cams.
Speaker: It's that. You're blaming the star player again. because they're not scoring two goals to make up for the... crappness in the rest of the squad.
Speaker: And like it it becomes a focus, hyper focus on Bruno. or Rashford because... They're the best players. And, oh, I don't know if we can win any anything with Bruno. No, what your question should be is, why aren't we surrounding and building around players like Rashford? And Bruno, why is your midfield not...
Speaker: good enough to Hold. Like, there should be two sitting DMs of Mainu and one... really good CDM sitting there. protecting Bruno when he loses the ball 20 times.
Speaker: yeah Because he's the star player and you that's the that's what you want, the star player constantly playing balls forward. yeah Why is your right back still Dalot? Why is your centre -back still Maguire? Why is your left -back still Shaw? Like.
Speaker: If you had those foundations in place. You won't be questioning Bruno like this. You won't. and that's ah like okay in isolation his action in that moment is wrong.
Speaker: like I'm not excusing that. My thing is, it's not that Bruno is a bad player or whatever. And even though I do agree with... um what you're saying.
Speaker: In... practice Bruno's been here for a long time he's had different compositions of midfielders even like I mentioned last week You played for Portugal with a back -to -back winning. champions league winning in midfield so and you still didn't look good so at the end of the day the the notion, for me, the notion of building around a player.
Speaker: died with the whole pogba thing that whole thing just got my nerves too much bro build around pogba build around this oh they should have put no no you need to create like i'll i agree with you 100 you need to create a foundation of a good team. I can't look at Bruno straight away if we've still got Maguire and Shaw.
Speaker: The reason why we conceded One of the goals today is just because Brad Shaw got cooked. And then the ball came in and he scored. How can I look at Bruno for that? How can I look at Bruno for that? That's nothing to do with him. But where I do look at Bruno is I've seen him in two Europa League finals.
Speaker: Stink shows. Like, and not even... Um... not even that he was the worst player or whatever, but when you look at some of his actions, it's like you just want him to, bro, just take it down a bit. It's okay. like It's okay. We're still in the game. You don't need to force things too, too much.
Speaker: Wait for your moments. But I think his temperament just doesn't allow for that. so like you said we need to build a team That. covers the rest of that for him and that's exactly why i want to go into kobe menu that performance yeah You know, the whole last season when I was saying, yeah, Kobe's been decent. He's been good since coming back into the team.
Speaker: This game of Kobe Manu is what I'm saying where I want him to. impose themselves more on games. do you the like call for the ball drive forward do all the things that you know you can do before you're kind of playing in the show This is the standard. This standard right here, you do this on Champions League nights.
Speaker: your whole profile changes They'll start talking about you differently. If I see you play against... you We did the Champions League draw as well. um We've got Aflaco Madrid. Do we have Bayern as well? Yeah, we do. If you go play against Bayern and do stuff like that. They'll start talking about you crazy. you What?
Speaker: Like, that's what I'm talking about. But yeah, yeah it is Ipswich. Cool. Buh. The reason why Bruno is able to do what he's able to do is because... You have Tielemans able to progress the ball with passing. You have Kobe Maynard being able to drive with the ball. Also, I can see him...
Speaker: trying to do long passes a lot more like expand his game a lot more that's all i want to see That's all I want to see. Last question on on this game. Did you see a better balance in midfield without Santos?
Speaker: Or is it just a case of the team playing... um playing better. and just bringing in, yeah is it the team playing better or is it or is the opponent worse? or like what's What's your thought process? does Is there something that Mainu provides that Santos doesn't? Or, yeah, what do you think?
Speaker: I think... the initial lineup against Hull was more out of fear. than anything else, like so... It's very natural to go for a more defensive...
Speaker: basement filled. If you want to like. protect You don't know what to expect from the season. So you're kind of coming in a bit pessimistic. You're not trying to be too expansive. You want to keep a good shape, be defensive. but What Carrick didn't factor in is that whether we're home or away when we're playing against teams like this we're going to have more the ball We need to be able to hurt the opposition. There's no point of... Being overly defensive, if we can't even score a goal and they score two passes, then we can't do anything.
Speaker: This game We had all our attackers on. We had all of our best... um Attackers on bottom, Cesco's missing, Ahmad's out four, still don't even know when he's going to come back. So.
Speaker: That's six weeks. Yeah, so six weeks, bro. We're not going to enter the window again. um Shay Lacey is probably going to get a few reps here and there. so Yeah. um i just think i just think he i'm happy for me the one person who stood out last week that needed to be dropped um doggy
Speaker: But I wasn't even thinking about Santos. And I'm happy that. Carrick acknowledged that without having to be lambasted by the media and all this bla blah blah blah blah blah he acknowledged it himself This game needed copy mania.
Speaker: And I think... right now is Who's going to partner with him? That's ah that's the silly that's the after that performance. who's going to be his partner. It's not whether it's going to be... um how How many times is Kobe going to play? is that's That's the puzzle he's trying to fix right now.
Speaker: Okay. Well, big up pick up the United, man. um Good on you to get that win. coming out of the relegation zone, great stuff. the Don't even. Don't even.
Speaker: Yo, crazy. but yeah Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire Listen, I got words for you too. I'm on to you too. The whole season. The whole season. the I forget that we won I don't care It's going to be, a yeah, it's going to be up and down season with those two at the back, man, honestly. um Moving on to... the Kings of London. um Chelsea football club. Kings.
Speaker: Kings, Kings, Kings, Kings. One league title don't make us, don't make, i we can't lose our crowd. Come on, man. If you win a war, your current king's in it. There you go. Fez. They're holding the title, man.
Speaker: hopefully You'll get your chain back, bro. Yeah, hopefully we can take our chain back because, boy. um Chelsea took on Brighton. um Brighton had a line -up. of a bunch of people I've never heard of. Bro, bri Brian, Brian. Brighton have, like, NPCs, bro. They just sign a bunch of... I didn't know Ed Baird, he's mandarin. Bruh.
Speaker: I'm not even speaking English. I didn't know who. bear of these man were. I hear these men. Just spawning spaning players out of nowhere. um And then they had this one unk that was... um ah Bro, I thought you were some gunning unk, bro. Bro, I didn't even cook. He's 20.
Speaker: Yeah, I hear it still. Go Bulldog. Just love it. Like, just go bald, bro. It's alright. He's got the head shape for a booed man. Just run it, man.
Speaker: No putting a hold on to that, bro. Oh, bro. Bro, I've been there. like Me, personally, I go bold, bro. As soon as I get a cut, I go bold. I don't know why he's is is he's even doing that. Maybe, anyway. He's made it. He's good. He's good.
Speaker: um Yeah, so looking at Chelsea's line -up... We've got... Oh. at The end of Robert Sanchez. Oh my God. Do you know what? Yeah.
Speaker: The evil you have done is enough. Nah, don't run that. Don't run that, bro. You've been sticking up for him for the last like the last year and a half. Like, Sanchez is not bad. He's a good keeper. Now you're saying the evil he's done is enough? Nah, come on, man. That was your guy.
Speaker: That was your guy. Look, let me just... Every time I have to say, I'm trying to be... ballots Have a balanced view. Sanchez in terms of his raw abilities he has the skills to be a top keeper he does he's tall he's athletic he can claim high he can catch crosses he's he's got all the tools The only thing that's stopping Sanchez is here.
Speaker: It's here. That guy cannot handle the pressure. He cannot concentrate. He cannot like he just makes the wrong decision. so it's Bro, it's all up here. And I know that's a big part of football.
Speaker: but then you're hoping over a few years you'll mature. And then over time of experience, you'll... um you'll get to a point where he'll start to settle down and those mistakes will be less often.
Speaker: um So that's why I always just sticked up for man. Like not that I love him. It's just that. I know in terms of his skill, he's got he's got something.
Speaker: But anyway, whatever, man. That's a boy, man. That's a guy, man. Don't even try that. That's a gag, bro. You can try and downplay it as much as you like, man. You're just trying to Umar, bro. I know what you're up to.
Speaker: I know what you want. But... ah Look, hopefully hopefully he's okay because imagine, yeah. They've told you you're still like, you're number one. You're my guy. You're my guy.
Speaker: what performance yeah ah now i know for i know for a fact what's his name javier longzo said absolutely not he said he said you are not going to cost me any like any Champions League football, bro. You are out of here, bro. You are. I don't know what Maresca and all them men were doing. Get him out of here, bro. Bro, it's not the managers. It's the it's the club. The club keep...
Speaker: standing by him because they've got this young kid called Penders and they keep putting all their basket into a my man so in their head they're like oh let's just stick with Sanchez that He's good. But also people have to remember the global head of... goalkeeping at Chelsea.
Speaker: is Ben Roberts, who his who was his coach at Brighton. so yeah If they're going to ship him out. I... I think it's going to be hard if Ben Roberts is the head of goalkeeping.
Speaker: Like... Anyway. Point is... Whatever. He's gone. I think... Martinez has some mistakes in him that I've seen in recent years. Hopefully we just get a nice, steady Eddie, stable goalkeeper. And then hopefully Pendes turns out to be... I think I figure i saw something um where Martinez actually had more mistakes leading to goals than Sanchez did.
Speaker: And... we'll We'll wait and see. But look, at the end of the day... Martinez has been in high -pressure games multiple times in his career. So has Sanchez, but I mean in terms of...
Speaker: two Copa America finals. Two World Cup finals. Winning one. Um... Europa League final winning in that. So like... He's been in these scenarios and come out on top multiple times. so He saved two pens to win Argentina World Cup.
Speaker: You can say he's got some pedigree that hopefully... instils confidence into the Chelsea team and defence. Um, My worry is... I actually just don't think this version of Martinez is the same as the younger version of Martinez.
Speaker: That's my, to be fair. the the other thing as well obviously this is part of your like money laundering scheme So, because last year, last year when Man United were looking at him, we were being quoted like around 40 million. And you're telling me a year later, after he gets to a World Cup final, he's now worth seven. All right, cool, bro. That's so awful. That's so awful. It's money laundering, bro. And then the Nicholas Jackson. How much did you sell Nicholas Jackson for?
Speaker: A .D. Moon. Mmm, the ganacho deal as well. It's like under the hem, like, yeah, take him alone, like, ooh. come on man there's some bookie stuff going on over there yeah man those guys are bros man those are guys trust me those are my a villa big up villa man proper club football club biggest club in in the midlands biggest club you're a joke man
Speaker: Um, And I think Sanchez has gone to Como as well. I think that was the last thing I saw, being linked to Como. I don't know if that's signed or sold. Yeah. that's looking very likely look I wish him all the best but yeah it's time for us to move on and Yeah man, the evil he has done is enough. I'm not letting you get that one off. You can't get that one. That's okay.
Speaker: Um... Our lineup was... Emi Martinez. So I actually went to this game. um That was... and It was a really good experience, man. It was good to finally be at a game. It's been a long, long time, but there was no way I was going to a Chelsea game last year. No way. in um so this this year it was I'm feeling confident I'm feeling good so and I got and I got so an opportunity to go with some fairly fairly priced ticket so Um,
Speaker: Right wing back was Gusto. Right centre back was Fofana. Lacroix, Colwell as the back three. Left -wing back was Hato. Midfield, two.
Speaker: of Gusto and Lavia. hu um And a front three of... Cover up. Ciao, Pedro. palmer and jp morgan you know J .P. Morgan, man. CPR, CPR. They're saying CPR is the one. CPR is the one. All right, CPR. CPR, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll run that one. um um Look, when I saw that, I was literally on a train when we saw the lineup and...
Speaker: That midfield two, the first thing I said to my friend was... Bro, we better play long ball. trying to play out from the back with Gusto and Lavia in midfield. Now, Lavia is relatively comfortable in midfield. However...
Speaker: um having a partner in Gusto. will make that job a lot more difficult. and considering lab years. you know, not been injured for for years. So he's probably not at his peak peak.
Speaker: Um, So for me, the first one I was like, this is a test to see. whether Alonso... is smart or whether Alonso is. A pragmatic coach or a coach that's focused on his philosophy and only his philosophy?
Speaker: um And. I'm so impressed just like Generally, people are like, oh, you got 25%. Possession. How can you be impressed? How can you be happy? I'm impressed my manager looked at the game.
Speaker: looked at his lineup, looked at the situation they're in. And he went, nope. We're going to do this because that's the best thing that I think is going to get the team to win. For me. That's the sign of a top coach.
Speaker: I ain't got time for all this. tiki -taka, tiki -taka, and Gusto has a bad touch, and then Brighton are going to score three goals. Like no. If Maresca was here, he would have tried to enforce that. to be playing possession football, trying to dominate it, playing out from the back, and we would have.
Speaker: 110 % loss. Um... So. Yes, it wasn't pretty. However, it was effective and that's the most important thing. Um,
Speaker: In terms from a tactical point of view, The tactics was literally, every time we got the ball... Here. Literally, that was all we did all game long. It was...
Speaker: It was amazing. like I can't lie to you. I loved it because I was just like, yes, this is what we need to do. for this game. Um... And... Ciao, Pedro. Every time they hit it to the right -hand side, they had this young kid called Vuskovic. Now, Vuskovic is 19, but he's an absolute unit.
Speaker: He was eating everything in the air. We got loads of success on their left -hand side. So it had the Turkish left back. for Brighton. Neto was having that guy on toast. Um...
Speaker: So it wasn't Gusto that started. It was Gusto in midfield and Neto on the right. so yeah yeah right right i think you said gusto twice and in your lineup yeah i did madman yeah then Benjal Pedro would shift over and he had a bit more joy with Dunk. Dunk's still um a big lad, but...
Speaker: And once Jaipur got the run on him, he'd he'd get the ball first. So we had a lot of joy on down that left -hand side. And which also filled me with. confusion because in For a good portion of the second half, we started going towards the right -hand side and Vuskovic was winning every header. And I was so confused. Why are we doing that? Stick to the left hand side.
Speaker: I'd love to know because they kept doing it and they never for the rest of the game, they never went back to the left -hand side. There must have been a reason. I have no idea.
Speaker: um But in the first half, mate. um Corner, Lavia tapping. What was the second goal? It was Rodgers. It was a throw -in head touchdown header from Jao Pedro. Rodgers, left foot into the box, Neto tapping. um And then the third goal was Hato running down the wing. and then passing it to Joe Pedro and Joe Pedro finishes that. Your boy Hato, another another guy you've been you've been cooking.
Speaker: And he seems de he seems decent ah as a wing -back now. Yeah, you weren't watching the game, bro, because every time they attacked every time they attacked that in that first half on that left -hand side... They were cooking.
Speaker: they had three They had two good, good chances from crosses on Hato's side. And to be fair to Hato, it wasn't a problem with just Hato. It was a problem between Hato and Kowu. Colwell wasn't covering Hato.
Speaker: well enough. Cole Will didn't want to push out wide. So Cole will stay tucked in. Hatter was then hattle would get doubled up on because Rodgers is taking too long to come back, yeah? So Rodgers was still a slight problem in there as well. Maybe it's preseason. Maybe he's not good at defending. I'm i'm keeping my eye on the budgets. What? What ends up happening is Hato steps out.
Speaker: And then he leaves the second one and he's he's expecting Coldwell to come in and cover him. Coldwell stays in, then Hattu's got to drop. But then by then it's too late. The cross has got loads of space, crosses it in and they create two really good chances from that.
Speaker: And then if you see from the first goal, we can see... Number one. It's a throw for Chelsea. But the ref doesn't give it. He gives it to Brighton. 100 % a throw from Chelsea. I've double -checked the of the footage. then Brighton come down that left -hand side.
Speaker: now look Hato is a decent player but he's not actually that good. Um... I think with time. At the end of the day, he's 19, 20. With time, he can get better. With good coaching, he can get better. But man.
Speaker: let's Let's not get ahead of ourselves just because of one pass, please. Let's take it easy. Um, Coldwell had a really bad day. really really bad day from the minute from minute one He had a bad day. He didn't know whether he was coming or going. He was misjudging the flight of the ball.
Speaker: um and It's okay. Chelsea fans, don't lose your head. I'm seeing tweets like, oh. We've got to replace Cole. We'll get a left -sided centre -back. Less cooldown. Already? on the They've gone to they're gone to meltdown mode already.
Speaker: I don't like this new age. I think it's social media, man. I think people just post whatever I've got. Like, I don't like reading social media about Chelsea after because every time after it's Chelsea game. I get a different opinion to what I was thinking And...
Speaker: A lot of it is just... Just nonsense, to be honest with you. It's literally just... Maybe it's all for tweets. Maybe it's all just all for clout, whatever. But the opinions on online, there's ah there's never any context. There's never any fairness.
Speaker: There's no two -sided argument. It's it's it's poor. Like the guys coming from ACL. leave him. he's gu He's coming back into it. It's so it's okay. Um, it's okay like let's let's just give him some time give him some grace at the end of the day man he came from the academy i'm so sorry we've talked about this before Guys from the Academy, you get extra leeway.
Speaker: It's just a fact of life. Yeah, I agree. 100 % agree. I just don't want to hear it. Like, sorry. Because you guys would have gone into the market and gone and spent 50 million on some bog -standard cinema. Bog -standard guy. Better than Cole. Cool.
Speaker: that that probably won't even be better than coral so what's the point like i don't even want to hear it And for me, people like Colwell, Achengpong, Rhys James, they need to be retiring at Chelsea. that they should be one club people.
Speaker: We need to be looking after those those those people that... um have been our academy for so long. Um, So. It was really enjoyable to go 3 -0 up, however...
Speaker: I was very nervous The writing were... control of possession and we were just sitting deep we we we intentionally didn't didn't press them so Um,
Speaker: But it was also good to see that even after it went 3 -2... we actually quickly switched the modes, went into full press, and that's what leads to the to the fourth goal from Palmer, which is a superb finish. Yeah, that's top quality.
Speaker: it's It's good to see that. That we are so potent and effective in attack um But... I think the defensive work. I think.
Speaker: It doesn't help with the midfield too. I think we've got to... give Xabi Alonso and the team some grace in saying we didn't have... our first, our starting centre mids.
Speaker: um do Do you think it's kind of like a... a signal to the board because Enzo wasn't even in your squad at all was he So it's kind of like he's...
Speaker: indirectly saying, get me my centre midfielder. Like, no, because I'm not even going to entertain this end or so. So if you want to go on that, go and get me who I need. If it was Maresca, I would probably... like go towards that. But I genuinely do not think he had an option.
Speaker: And the reason why he doesn't have an option is because I don't know why he played Rhys James in on Thursday. Rhys James in his current body cannot play three times a week.
Speaker: um He should be playing once or twice a week. That's it. um So he played midweek and he played most of the minutes on mid midweek. So it was no surprise to see that he could not start.
Speaker: this game. Um, So I think that's a mistake. Maybe they thought, okay, he might be fine to play three times in a week. But again... I don't know why you would take that risk with Rhys James for me personally. or I wouldn't even bother.
Speaker: I would have rested in for that game. And then if we lose that game, we lose. And then focused on the Prem. So. I hope Xabi Alonso doesn't take that risk again. and just realizes yeah we've We've got to... make sure we rotate with, with Rhys James and just, and that's it.
Speaker: Um... So I think leading up to this game now, Enzo has refused to play by the way. He's actually... told Xabi Alonso he doesn't want to play because the move for City is... This guy is unbelievable, you know.
Speaker: he's like He's actually unbelievable because he was twerking for Real Madrid. Real Madrid said, nope, like get get the hell out of here. And now his daddy, Maresco, has come to try and save him.
Speaker: um So. and but to and see But what about if Man City don't agree a deal? Now, no because of the way Enzo's moving... he's putting all the power in Man City's hands like we don't yeah need and ah we don't need Fernandez and he wants to leave so Give us a good deal or we're not going to sign them. It's as simple as that.
Speaker: This is my thing. I don't want... I'm worried that City are going to try and lowball us and try and get us to reduce defeat. If that happens, I don't think Enzo goes because I don't think Chelsea are going to have it.
Speaker: Like, I think this transfer now only happens if City agree to pay more than 120 mil. um So for me, I'm hoping City just come in and pay what's required. But if they start doing the haggling, haggling with one day left on transfer deadline day.
Speaker: I don't think it's going to happen, bro. But for me... I've told you last week from me. I need him gone. Like, like... It's done. We are done. like He's done. we've He's checked out. I think a lot of the fans there... i was talking to fans on the train obviously i don't know i can't speak for 41 000 people but The fans that I was speaking to on the chain, they said that if eat the next game he comes back, they're going to boo him.
Speaker: So... For me... he's doing he's been doing He's been doing too much, bro. He's been doing way too much. he's too much He's been doing too much so So my point is that I'll be right back. It wasn't a ah signal to the... Bored, it was literally the only things he...
Speaker: he could literally do so unless unless he played an academy player which you wouldn't want to do in that high pressure situation um But honestly, like to get the win. against Brighton as well because they might we buy a lot of players from Brighton and them man hate us so and we hate them too. so it's become It's become a weird but what ah rivalry. So I'm just happy to to get the win.
Speaker: um and man does it Does it concern you that... You've played two games, conceded five goals. Is that concerning you at all? or you're just happy that your team's able to score.
Speaker: I think, again, people on if you are not a Chelsea fan, you're naturally going to go to that conclusion. I ah completely understand that. um However, as a Chelsea fan...
Speaker: Yes, we are not defending. well enough. Most definitely not. However, a big part of that is the midfield. And... Playing out. playing right back with lavia who's been injured for two for three years basically And then. that's against Fulham and then now against Brighton we're playing Lavia and Gusto, another right back in centre mid.
Speaker: i think ma I just think that's just just where we are right now. We haven't got the midfield. Look at Enzo like fobbing us off and refusing to play. Like we have not got a midfield.
Speaker: So I'm not sure what people are expecting. you know we're going to be weaker.
Speaker: I think her mic is muted.
Speaker: Oh. Is it back? Yeah, yeah, the Spence was better. Hence why Alonzo's just gone. Yeah, you mad we're not playing football, we're just hearing it loud. um So, yeah, i think I think we'll be fine. Once Enzo goes... Fingers crossed we buy one. I want two midfielders.
Speaker: I think we'll be fine. um And just on the transfer window, nice little segue. Two. our final segment where we talk about. what we wanted our club to do.
Speaker: before the transfer window started. and what we have got and what they have served up to us up onto the transfer window. so For me personally...
Speaker: a lot of more my focus um from the previous video was around outgoings. I just wanted it Enzo Neto, Garnaccio, Tosin, De Lappe. I just wanted those five guys out of my club. and so Wait, say those names again? Um, yeah.
Speaker: The lap tossing. Netto. Enzo. And go natural. So for me, those were the main outgoings. So at the moment, we've got tossing is pretty much confirmed.
Speaker: Um... Go on, Nacho. to spurs i can't believe it And then... Jokers. Jokers. um And then who's the other one that left?
Speaker: The lap, yeah. 50 mil for tilapia is absolutely insane, by the way. um So... We're almost there. Enzo will probably go, is my is my bet. I don't think Neto is going to leave, to be honest with you.
Speaker: I don't think it's gonna happen. I think he's going to be used as a wingback. I think he's going to be happy to do it as well. we spoke We spoke about this last season. He's a wingback.
Speaker: He's got to accept his fate. He's a wing back. Um... So it was good to see that we've made good progress on the outgoings. in income incomings for the positions that we're talking about Um,
Speaker: We... Chelsea definitely needed a centre back. I'll be honest, I think we needed two. from when we had discussions, but one was a certainty. which we have done. So that's a tick for me.
Speaker: midfield I told you that we needed two midfielders if Enzo leaves. But... It looks like we might just get one. So I can't really comment on midfield. We haven't completed that yet. It's really frustrating that this has come to the last day of the season. That's the one thing I wanted for this Enzo Saga.
Speaker: is to just get sorted at the... beginning of the transfer window just so that we can move on from it i hate transfer sagas that I hate any chance for soccer.
Speaker: like if your If our club is buying someone or selling someone, like why is it taking three months? I don't want to see a saga. just Just get rid of the guy. Just get it done, man.
Speaker: But obviously it's stuff with the books and everything. They can't just like cave into whatever um the buying team wants. There has to be some sort of a middle ground. but I hate you. I agree. I agree. Like, for me... These corporations, they make so much money. like All this haggling over... 5 billion here, 5 billion there. Like, bro, you you make it back in short sales. Within during that week. let's Let's stop being stupid, man.
Speaker: To be fair, a lot of this transfer window activity has actually taken place in the last... three two to three weeks of the transfer window. um And I think. I don't know for certain but They seem to say the World Cup has a lot to play with it, where a lot of people have gone away on holiday and then when they come back from holidays, then the transfer business and talk has has started to step up.
Speaker: Ah. For me... I think that's a bit... I think that's a cop -out because... It's a cop -out. If I'm on holiday, go talk to my agent and agree to... Come back to me on holiday. Like, come back me. I mean, Ibiza, come back me. Let's have a few drinks. If you want to get it done, you get it done, man. So I'm not really accepting that.
Speaker: And then I think the one more... the main position that I was talking about. in before the World Cup was definitely left wing. I wanted Gannaccio and Neto gone and I wanted to see a new starting level left wing.
Speaker: Not in a million years would I have thought it would be Morgan Rodgers. and for that fee. So let's see. The fee makes me... Nervous I think the play is a clear upgrade on Garnaccio Neto.
Speaker: Um... But is he a... Big enough upgrade. Wow. We'll see. we'll see i think the chemistry between the front three is already there like Yeah, so it's already there. It's making me sick.
Speaker: Yeah, that is spicy. I can't lie. It is spicy. So let's see. Hopefully we can create the foundation behind them. that lets those guys get to work. and It is what it is.
Speaker: So moving on to United, how do you think your transfer window has gone? ah So for me... one of the main Things that we needed to sort that we've needed to sort out for ages is midfield. Midfield had to be addressed. And I didn't mean, oh, let's sign two midfielders and call it a day. I mean, it needed that overhaul.
Speaker: and with Casemiro going out and Ugarte, he's still there. He's still there. That was bad luck. He's still there and he got injured. He's not going anywhere. he didn't get used and he wasn't going to get used. So it was basically we needed.
Speaker: two midfielders just to replace you think so then you needed the extra body on top of that Do you think that hampered, like, I feel like you you've... um you've stepped away from deals that were too expensive, but I think that's got to do with, um,
Speaker: We've... What's his name? Um, What's the guy's name? You got it, yeah. so Because the fact that you couldn't sell him... and then now you've still got to pay his wages and you didn't receive a transfer feedback from Don't you think that's now affected what you wanted to do?
Speaker: Uh... i think to some degree but also as well again i don't want to be giving these people excuses because They don't want to spend big money. They just don't want to spend it. they don't want They don't want to walk into negotiations and someone says to them, 100 million. They just don't want to hear it. Yeah. they they They start getting nervous. They start getting...
Speaker: that I know. Because even for us. The central still came out of nowhere. We just. Yeah. Okay. Somehow we were interested in your son within the week The Telemans one, it was just a...
Speaker: um good deal that was on the table so we just took it as a buy it buy option so Um, They just did it. But when it comes to negotiating these big amounts, they don't want to do it. Look at Brighton. Look at the belabour, though. we They were willing to wait a whole year and said, absolutely not.
Speaker: weve We walked away from those. Even, the um what's his name? uh brown for it the two seasons ago when we were signing a bunch of defenders they were trying to get him for like they were trying to say they wanted more than what we paid for harry mcguire and he said um we're just not even going to talk to you ah forget it we're not even trying to have that conversation
Speaker: I do like that, though, because the fees right now are getting... Ridiculous. They're getting absolutely insane. And the only way the fees go down is if these top clubs are like, yo, you man, we're not doing this. like It's the only way it's going to come down.
Speaker: But then it's kind it's kind of pointless for us because... If Spurs are going to be spending the money, whatever I was asking for, the New Deal cares. No one's bringing that. um asking prices down so we're just gonna be waiting until contracts um almost um Expire.
Speaker: Or by... buy options just ah pop out pop out of nowhere because they're not looking to do all of that so for me I did say we needed three midfielders. Whether these are the three that we needed.
Speaker: We'll see. We'll see how the season pans out. Um, I'm going to go off the ledge. I'm going to go off the ledge and say no. but that's where we'll we'll we'll so We'll see in it because we played against two promoted sides, so there's not really too much to take away from it. We got smoked in one.
Speaker: and then um we smoked them in another one so we're kind of we've leveled out We've lugged it out right now, so... that's that but ah Yeah, so those those were the... That was the main position. But then also for me.
Speaker: The Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw. or All of this stuff, I'm just saying to myself, like... The bottom. But the last pod we did before the season started. I said we have an opportunity.
Speaker: to take a big leap next season. And to me, it seems like the club aren't interested in doing that. They've got that idea on how they want to handle transfers and they're just sticking to it.
Speaker: So the first window they came. They tried to sue all our defenders, so... Lenny Euro. Matthias De Ligt. Um, Maswari then That, um... Lenny Uro.
Speaker: um What's Aiden Heaven? Dog. Like they just signed a bunch of defenders. To be fair I forgot about that. But then now you'll find it there. They went for attackers. We got Konya. We got Mbwemo. We got Sesko. Spent big money on the attackers. And then...
Speaker: Now they've gone for the midfielders. They're trying to do it department by department. but When you do it like that. it always means that you're going to have to go back and fix what didn't work with one department.
Speaker: so Right now, defense is suffering. and because they're refusing to address it. That's two windows in a row now where they haven't addressed it. Now you're going to have to do a big... fixture because the lit is injury prone can't play martinez injury prone can't rely on him Luke Shaw is fat.
Speaker: Dogu is a left winger now. Maserati, Dalot. Like, you've given Maguire a new contract. He's not good. He's not good though. So... what what's the What's the plan there? Lenny Euro, no and um that's two managers now who don't trust him to be a starting centre -back. They'll rather...
Speaker: Trust Aiden Heaven to play ahead of him. so now What's going to happen is next season. Are we just going to go for defenders again then? And then not addressing the other position. like what's the like are we just never gonna approach the market as a big team would are we just never going to spend big money on big targets like ever so do you do you Do you think a better process would have been...
Speaker: Adjust the spine. first and then work your way around that spine after. You got me. So in that first window... get Go for centre -back. Sent a mate.
Speaker: Attack. So like one per unit. in every window I think that's a better way. I'm trying to remember what are starting, like, to be fair, you know what? You know what? They did do that. they did do that because even that summer i forgot we signed We signed. Peace.
Speaker: ah No, it was Xerxes. You got it. And then we signed Defenders. So they did try to address the spine thing. But it's is it's just bad players. We signed crap. We signed crap players.
Speaker: But that's the issue of addressing it in that way. But at the same time... For me, Where where I... Would like them to approach it the way that I would like them to approach it is there are things staring you blank in your face don't wait for them to become a Pure meltdown before you then address it.
Speaker: Because... yeah we've We need a left back. We've been needing a left back. You signed Dogu. Cool. I'm fine with Dogu as long as you kept him as a left back. But now he's a left winger.
Speaker: So now it's a problem because Luke Shaw, there's no World Cup to play for. There's no um Euros to play for. He might just mail it in. He might just mail it in and be like, bro, he's gone. So now what do we do? Now we're panicking and scrambling mid -season trying to find what they like to call it.
Speaker: in -house solutions. Like, come on, man. Come on, man. I don't want to see Harry Ameth starting. Yeah, he's not ready. No. So. comparing your strategy compared to... to um To Oz, yeah.
Speaker: you've had You've added a mixture of youth and experience to your team over the years, whether they're good or bad, whatever. But people like De Ligt is an experienced head, Maswawi. Casemiro, so on and so forth.
Speaker: The way Chelsea have addressed it up until this window has been... Having an age restriction for the most part. um um on players that we're bringing in.
Speaker: um now I guess. Our strategy has been laughed at and mocked. But what I will say is it's given us a unique ability.
Speaker: To address. So many issues in one window. Because... we are able to essentially move on assets, whether it's for profit or same. same amount but move on assets quickly Because number one, they're on lower wages.
Speaker: Number two, they're on... um they are relatively young so a lot of these assets tend to have Decent value. And we've been able to...
Speaker: recoup a lot of that value which then allows us to be flexible in the market now also with all the money laundering and all that stuff so it's like it's just all combining like to help each other because a big thing, a big thing that you mentioned with our surgery and your surgery. We haven't made any sales.
Speaker: This whole summer window, wein't we ain't sold anymore. We can't sell anyone. Even there's talks of Xerxes going, um leaving. But then um Florentino, they decided, no, Xerxes decided he didn't want to go to Florentino. So they went and signed Beto from Everton. And then Voltemodo. just went to juventus so long so Now, what's what's happening with X is he's just going to end up staying.
Speaker: Why are we even putting them on low? Just sell them for like 25 mil. Just get rid. If you only get rid of these guys, get rid. But then here's the problem Xerxe According to capology, which may not be...
Speaker: which may be right or may not be. um He's on approximately 100K a week. Now... Yeah. Yeah. The clubs that you're going to sell Xerxe to that are actually going to want to buy them.
Speaker: not many like you're you're now reducing the amount the amount of clubs that can take him. um And if he's not a good player... Which, unfortunately, hasn't seemed it in a United shirt.
Speaker: It's going to be hard to move them on. so I want to give... The Chelsea sporting directors a little bit of praise and just give them a little bit of balance. um But what we've seen from a Chelsea point of view is a big shift in our...
Speaker: And I'll... um One thing I definitely wasn't expecting is signings like Henderson. Um, That guy Welbs. Um... Lacroix, who's 26.
Speaker: um So it's actually quite refreshing. And... I have always... fought against the idea of adding experience. My problem with with the phrase ad experience.
Speaker: if you haven't got the quality yet it doesn't matter what your experience is so um But it's it's been good and I think it's we've got a much better balance now. um to our squad, to our team.
Speaker: and we've got rid of quite a few of the stale ones that didn't quite want to be here so All in all, I say that to the same. It's been a decent window for Chelsea. Let's see how it goes for the rest of the season.
Speaker: Now, from your point of view, with the way you have addressed your sentiment With a good blend of age, you've got a 22 or 23 year old Santos.
Speaker: 31 -year -old, 30 -year -old who's you know vastly experienced, troph f FA Cup winner, Europa League winner. um And then, of course, Belaba, who's the... young up upcoming um Starlet.
Speaker: So are you happy with this rebuild? Or what else are you looking for? realistically in the last day of the window.
Speaker: ah The last day of the window. ah what now i need I need to think about this properly because... What positions am I really saying we're struggling? I think...
Speaker: We need defenders, man. If I see... yeah If I see Manchester United are linked to... I have a... big centre -back or a big Fullback.
Speaker: And we're saying like, I'm talking about an experience ready to go now, not injury ridden, like how they try to do with the Balde thing. And I think Barcelona were quoting.
Speaker: Okay. like 50 mil and then Balde Balde said he didn't want to come anyway like it's just it's fluff it's fluff for the media isn't it that's all that's all it is to me but that you You don't have to go spend big money like that.
Speaker: Get me. If I see a centre -back come in and the profile fits of what I'm thinking that we need, we need someone who's mobile, we need experience, we need physicality, we need leadership as well because the gimmick of... Harry Maguire being the leader of a defensive thing just because he's the oldest when he's hugging our defenders when we're defending the corner. Bro, what kind of a leader is that, bro? You don't need that. You don't need that, bro. like he's just he's just up He's just the oldest. It's a dumb way of looking at it.
Speaker: Do you have any... Any one player that you've got your eye on. Nah. Absolutely not. I don't know what the hell is going on in world football. I don't want us to sign anyone from the Premier League because they're just going to try and bump us.
Speaker: I think itll on what we should have done... first We've missed out on a market opportunity. Not, um... not because i rate him super highly but it was there didn't um spurs get senesi on A freak. On the free, yeah, on the free. Yeah, like that would have been, but we were too.
Speaker: they have tunnel vision on their plan they were only signing an interesting midfielders but That's an easy deal to do. Go. Grab an experience, Premier League experience, send them back for on the free. yeah I don't want to see no Kevin Danso come to like to keep them guys away. Keep them guys away. That's the one I'm worried about.
Speaker: Because I know he wants to leave Tottenham. Yeah, I think he's on his way to Sunderland, so I think you're safe there. Yeah, keep him away. With Tussing going to... Spurs well.
Speaker: um Good. Well... love love Love that. I think... Yeah. Yeah, no, I was going to say, so what about um how do you feel about... um your Your club going into the last day, is there any...
Speaker: big move like other players in particular for you that you want to see go in or out in your team in order to... Meet your... objective i don't think we've really stumped down on what we actually um hope our team actually achieves this year.
Speaker: I mean, for me, I'm really, ah like I just want to break. I'm looking at it from a points point of view. I can't lie. Because if I look at Chelsea over the last six years...
Speaker: No, 13 years. in terms of the points. that we have acced accumulated, 10 years, sorry. um because that was the last time we won the league. So.
Speaker: I'm looking at it from a point... We've... Barely broken. I don't think we've broken 80 points. So I really want us to go get to 18. that's that's a like i don I don't know what league position that would be. I'm just saying.
Speaker: 80 points. Let's show some real... I think 80 will probably get you like top three. Like somewhere. it Yeah, it it should. But... I just really want us to get to that. That would be a proper... title challenge wouldn't it it's you're being close enough to the title winners that you've had a chance to win it.
Speaker: Cool. Once we have that. build on it as a foundation to go. Now looking at our transfer window. I think... In terms of just pure numbers, I personally think one of Gusto and...
Speaker: Neto have got to go. Um... just so the numbers are If... Enzo leaves, which I think he will. i think most I was just about to ask. Yeah.
Speaker: he's got to is it more predicated on Enzo leaving because if Enzo leaves that girl um is there no one from like your academy there's no like young player that you can steal from Strasburg or whatever.
Speaker: we We already took them all. um we react We have this Barco kid, but I'm... In terms of the physicality of the league, I'm a bit worried there. I can't lie to you. What's that other guy? It's not Parkour, is it? Is it that tool guy? Is he a midfielder or something? I'm not bugging. Which tool? A Chengpeng.
Speaker: No, it's, um... Watson. I need to see your lineup. No, no, no, no, no. I think he's foreign. I think he's like Spanish or something. ah Maybe I'm bugging. I'm bugging. A karma. As in.
Speaker: So yeah for me For me personally, the Enzo has got to leave and to create a more solid centre mid, we just need to get a centre mid. And I think generally if we get a solid centre mid, yeah, we're good to go. Caicedo.
Speaker: Chelsea fans have been worried about the amount of work and games that he has played over the last three two years. It's been a worry. so I actually envision for Caicedo to have an injury -ravaged season.
Speaker: if Caicedo does have a long -term injury. go and get me two midfielders because I cannot. consistently have to watch. Love y 'all. you know You've got to remember, Lavi and Rhys James are injury -prone as well.
Speaker: That's the problem. Go and get me two centre -mids to replace Enzo so that... we've got enough cover in that position. For me, that's the main focus. I think attack we're fine. I don't really like our backup striker that we've taken from Strasbourg.
Speaker: I haven't seen him play, but when I saw him start... You got Welbeck, didn't you? You're gone. We got Welbeck, so... I think you'll be okay. um So yeah, that's that's it really. then And then hopefully one of Gusto and Neto leave. so All in all. Good window. um Where do you envision United finishing? Or how many points do you think United get?
Speaker: um I'm kind of on the same wave as you. like I don't think I really have a... um position in mind i can look back and be like yeah that was a good season for us because For me, I still think...
Speaker: it The door's open. um I'm not saying that we have the ability to win the league, but we still don't know who's going to be good and who isn't going to be good. I just don't want to get too... April. No, not April. Well, yeah, April, March.
Speaker: And... When a dog fight. for um top top five and we're seventh trying to chase top five and there's like three points in between five teams and now i want us to be secured champions league football like. comfortably I won a good run in the cup competitions.
Speaker: but then ah more over that I need to see good football and the players who Word bit. Rubbish last year. Taking a step forward. Those are, those are like. my that's my checklist for for the team. And that's all predicated on the board. That's not what I think Manchester United should have done this season. but Looking at where we are. That's all I can hope for at this point.
Speaker: it Okay, let's take this moment to move on to our final segment. Um... Don't blame the ref. What moment of in the last week have you seen where...
Speaker: We have just got to tell the person, the institution. the company, the club, to never ever blame the ref and take accountability for their actions.
Speaker: Um... Have you got a don't blame the ref moment? I think... My don't blame the ref is the whole of the Premier League. What? um harry mcguire scored a perfectly um legal goal. I was not humble. That was... ah that i I don't know what everyone's even complaining about. like Ah! fair that like Apparently the rules, what you can do is you can blatantly handball it.
Speaker: And as long as your shot is off target. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. That's apparently in the rule books. No, I don't. though I don't know what the hell is going on. I even forgot to mention that. That is honestly...
Speaker: I was so confused. When I saw the replay, I was like, yeah, yeah. I was like, yeah, yeah. You can't get that. That's impossible. That's because it wasn't on target. It don't count.
Speaker: Oh, fair, man. Fair, fair. Ugh. Look, I know we're trying to make... Then don't blame the ref, but... some of these rules they're making the game so complicated and it looks so silly.
Speaker: letting goals like that. stand man it's so silly honestly you know what yeah um, We're not actually blaming the ref, we're blaming the rulebook. Because I'm pretty sure they went through all the all the steps. I don't think that's the referee saying, nah, nah, it can't be. It went to VAR. It went through all the checks and they said it's fine. So it's not even the referee. It's like, that's... What can you do?
Speaker: ah my Yeah, watch this. Blame the riff moment. Wow. I'm gonna go with Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaker: Don't blame anybody don't blame the ref When you guys have a horrible season again, don't blame the money. Because you spent the money. Don't blame the money. And even prior to this season, Tottenham have spent money. I don't know why Tottenham fans keep saying they haven't spent. You've spent money. You just spend it. horribly.
Speaker: You keep buying poor players. Don't blame anybody but yourselves. When you're signing, guys, like tossing. And then you're signing Mudrick on loan.
Speaker: Like what? What are we doing? What are we doing 85 M's on Savino who I think will end up being okay? but i die yeah i feel i don't see I don't think okay okay is the correct word.
Speaker: OK is the correct word. I don't think he's going to be transformational for Tottenham. I think he's probably... What is it? He's only scored three goals in the Premier League since he came. Bro, he will score like what?
Speaker: Five this season, I think. Something like that. He'll do some nice stepovers in that so it it'll be all right Bro. And they just got hijacked for Illiman and Jai as well. He's going to sue them. So... Yeah. Do you know what's killing me about that? Yeah. It was definitely that tell free kick that made them say, absolutely not. We need to sign a leave for Winkler. They said no way.
Speaker: ah All right, man. Thank you for tuning in to another episode. uh please like subscribe share comment engage um and yeah thank you so much for joining wait did you even give yours Yeah, yeah, Tottenham.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, my bad. This guy is tired. Yeah, bro. Look after yourself, man. Peace. Alright, peace, peace.
