Speaker: Yo. Don't cry, don't beg. Welcome to another episode of the Don't Blame the Ref podcast. In the red corner, you got me, Dom. In the blue corner, you've got me, E -Man.

Speaker: And yeah, it's been a while. Been a while. It's probably been like... Almost exactly a month, but a lot has happened in football. But a lot has happened in life as well, so... you know what I mean we just have to keep pushing but we're back again Yes.

Speaker: Back to talk about... Man United and Chelsea and all of that good stuff that you guys love to hear the pain about. And yeah obviously we've been... uh,

Speaker: following us on tiktok you've heard a few instant match reactions on both ends you'll be hearing that a lot more so make sure you follow us on all of our socials especially tiktokers That one, yeah. that That was mad. That was mad.

Speaker: so basically basically for for people who don't have the context the most recent um Man United game of four, this one was definitely a good one. Call Madrid game. And I was actually away in Barcelona.

Speaker: And I was walking down the street, shouting into my... Oh. I was like, wait. I was cooked. I was cooked. But yeah, no more spoilers. You guys go check that out.

Speaker: Yeah, I think. Speaking of Man United. I mean, that's our only new place to start. Sunday game. Um, for me but I don't want to go too far back because we missed a lot of games, so I don't want to bore you guys. You've probably seen a lot of content on all that kind of stuff anyway. But coming into this game...

Speaker: I'll just say. ah I've run out of hope. I've already mentally clocked out this season. it's It's already done for me. like i'm I'm just waiting for the inevitable to happen. and You know how that gets with Man United. I don't think they sack him.

Speaker: i don't think they do evil because if we if we deep it yeah people are forgetting When it was Amarim, they only sacked Amarim because he was talking wicked. Not because of the results.

Speaker: Yeah. And the thing was as well, Amarim wasn't even particularly doing... I don't want to say he wasn't doing that bad. We were like, what, six? no by the way what there was It wasn't doom or gloom, but they were fucking bad. Yeah, Fool's Bad.

Speaker: Same thing that's happening now with Carrick. So as long as Carrick keeps his mouth closed, hey, all good, man. All good. But yeah yeah, going into this game, I just thought. this is a great opportunity for lisa smokers you know the long -standing rivalry They've been playing well as well over the last couple of games. and Yeah.

Speaker: ah I didn't even... A draw, it's not even like I'm happy with a draw. It's just that it just doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. I didn't learn anything new from our team with it with that result.

Speaker: you know what when i was when i was watching it i think it was more about The lack of threat. Um... Leeds had on that in their team. Yeah. I think it was more about that than...

Speaker: United necessarily defending well. um i think I think you were definitely not as easy to play through, especially through the middle because, look, you had a midfield free. um You had Fernandes on the right and this just made you a little bit more solid. um but

Speaker: Leeds got into like from goalkeeper to centre back to centre mid they did some good stuff it's just once they got in and around the box especially in the first half they just um they just weren't really effective the quality of the passes weren't enough they weren't committing enough players inside the box either so um I think they were a bit yeah Yeah. You could really see they lacked quality as they were moving the ball. but Then when United won it back...

Speaker: Then you just... look we're always trying to look for more You're hoping one day it clicks. Yeah, a bit much of the same. For me, like the first thing you pointed out was the midfield and the last two games.

Speaker: The biggest standout has been Bruno Fernandes being moved out of the midfield and... For me, I think that's the first sign in. Carrick acknowledging that It's not that Bruno's a bad player. It's just that with him in your midfield...

Speaker: The balance is never gonna be right. And you kind of just have to give him a free roam to do what he's going to do. So essentially, we're kind of shoehorning them into their team. But but let's let's be specific. Let's be specific. The balance would be right if you had two proper DMs.

Speaker: Do you get what I'm saying? With the players, with the players. If you could pick out two players from the Premier League. who you would say would work perfectly with Bruno Fernandes, who would you would you say?

Speaker: I don't necessarily have to go with two. I could just go... Mainu and one more person. Um, Where... You know, obviously it sounds great, but, ah you know, a Rodri, a Bwadi, a, you know, Ellie Anderson. The reason you know why I'm saying that.

Speaker: I. I don't agree with that only because... Eventually the numerical advantage is always going to take. precedent. So... Leeds, they play with a four, like well, basically a two in midfield. bottom They've also got like two turns or whatever, two wide players.

Speaker: but most teams play for free. And that's always going to raise head when it's Kobe Manu and whoever else. Telemans and whoever else. at some point that numerical advantage is going to always just...

Speaker: take hold it doesn't matter how great those two players are and especially it's the wider functioning of the team as well it's not just like Grunon not being Able to.

Speaker: play that midfield role properly it's also like When the centre -backs get the ball, what are we doing with it? When it goes out wide, when it gets to Konya and it gets to these players and they're losing the ball. instantly it's just like It just doesn't work. Our team doesn't work in that.

Speaker: sort of thing but Bruno's Undroppable i want everyone to understand this he's never going to get dropped at most You might get subbed at like the 75th minute. That's about it. But...

Speaker: He's playing every game, so Carrick's Currently in survival mode. And he's at a stage where it's like... I need to get wins now. And... I need the players on the pitch who are most likely going to do that for me and it's always going to be Bruno top of that list.

Speaker: that's That's where we are right now. So so so over the last couple of weeks, Bruno has really been getting, you know, it's reared his head. He's really been getting that stick again. You know, people are really watching his body language. They're really watching, you know, the actions he does. And, you know, they're microanalyzing and criticizing everything he does.

Speaker: so My question to you is, is it Bruno? Is it the manager? Or is it just a wider team that's functioning around Bruno? Because...

Speaker: i As you know, I'm a big i'm a big fan of Bruno. We know he's a world -class player, but... when things are not going well. they really don't go well for Bruno.

Speaker: I think. for me It's not about... When when it comes to Bruno, I think Bruno doesn't have... a very good temperament when it comes to games like playing the moments rather than um plane like I feel like he's just always trying to be Bruno rather than just going like, for the next two minutes, let's just keep the ball for a bit. now It's just always on goal.

Speaker: And then whenever that happens, yeah, go ahead. The way he thinks is never, what does the team need now? No. lot Rather than what what I need. what I want to do.

Speaker: and then in that how do you legislate for that when you're a manager because Some of the stuff that Bruno does isn't even football sense. It just doesn't make sense. that like um who What game was it? it was um I don't know if it was Athletico or one of the games before.

Speaker: The ball was just in there. No, it might have been the flare comment because we were losing. Bullshits in the air. You're losing everything. he just he just kicks it into the end and doesn't contest the 50 50 so it's like What man is that? Then he turned around and started moaning at someone else.

Speaker: yeah this is like So how can the manager prepare for that? how How can you prepare for that? You can't. The only thing you can do is... try and rein him in and say Bruno like just calm down bro like and if he's not then that's when you sub him off but then you can't sub him off. Then it's just this weird merry -go -round because at the same time...

Speaker: does Carrick think he thinks he has enough authority to tell Bruno what to do? Or do you just let Bruno do what he does? like that's that's the balance because i feel like when managers get into survival mode They just turned to Bruno and that.

Speaker: oh help and now Help me. Help me.

Speaker: at the end of the day Bruno's a player he he doesn't run anything So if you want Bruno to stop doing those kind of things. That's when you need the manager to step in and make those. decisions but at the same time as well in in just his normal actions 90 minutes he's just been bad Okay, but could you could you say...

Speaker: Looking at the way you attack. and You know what? Sometimes I do see... the semblance of a team that's coherent at times um and a team that has an attacking plan and wants to hurt the opponent in a certain way.

Speaker: But. in a lot of occasions i see a lot of

Speaker: There's nothing wrong with freestyle ball, but when a team is clearly struggling with making their own decisions and attacking third... um i do see a lack of any sort of plan or movement to to to you know punish the the the opponents or i'm saying is Does Bruno make those bad, poor decisions because there's a lack of attacking plan?

Speaker: or coherent plan. I think To some extent, yeah, yeah. I do... i do agree with you on that but then because Do you know why I say that? Because I've coached players...

Speaker: Obviously... different level but the personality can be similar. In terms of these players. If they're not giving. Strict. Um...

Speaker: And not to say you you never want to limit Bruno, but if they're not given something to focus on. So whether it's a game plan, whether it's a weakness in the other team. whether it's um how we're gonna you know, take take on this game.

Speaker: If they're given that complete freedom, then they can sometimes go off the rails, especially when things go wrong. Yeah, that's a common theme in Man United, though. like when When the going gets tough...

Speaker: these guys don't get going it starts collapsing there's no one who's just gonna all right cool give me the ball i'll make something happen i'll do something i'll do something bruno drops to the halfway line and then The thing is as well, another thing.

Speaker: I don't even want to just focus on Bruno. I think all of these players in their own individual actions have just been bad. Rashford. since he's come back. one and a half games being good. That's as much as I'll give him. That's even true.

Speaker: Ahmad, he's been out injured, comes back. And Buemo's continuing from the end of last season in where he's just playing horribly. but ending up with a goal here and there. Cunha.

Speaker: Hey, who knows, man? Who knows? them then our Our striker, our only striker. My actual name is out now. Yeah. Don't know for how long. Might not see him until then. and I thought we might not see him until next year. What even happened?

Speaker: apparently there was one game where he got like pushed into the advertising boards and since then the injury's just been reoccurring like sometime last season something happened and then he just It just keeps aggravating the same injury, but now it's just gotten worse again. so then comes in okay what's our option is it bringing Xerxes and then he plays he plays great Xerxes like that and it's just

Speaker: Sesko plays like his body recovers from injury. He plays in the same way. Just no grit, no determination, no... Like, heel, boy! Like, God. Maybe it's the management of the injury. I don't know. marjuana That one game earlier this season where he was like, we had the opportunity to like... counter or whatever and he thought he was upset so he just stopped running

Speaker: I can't remember what game that was, but he just had the ball at his feet and he just wasn't... And I'm like, bro, where's your conviction? Where's, like, your, like... It... imprint yourself like he's supposed to have a great shot of both feet i haven't seen him take one long shot like just like out your field it's true smoke it like there's just nothing there but then that's what I'm saying like so that's why I don't want to just focus on Bruno because the Bruno thing is what I've been talking about for months now since we started doing this pod like he's got his good moments but

Speaker: His general play is just horrible. So. He's just an enigma. It's either you solve it or you get out get rid of it. that's that's That's all it is. And then we have Belayba finally coming into the team now and he's had...

Speaker: Couple good cameos. But... That's not enough to move the needle. Slow enough to move the needle, man. Look, let's discuss Belay a little bit more. Let's discuss what he's offering because I've got a lot of stocks in my eye, boy. Do you know what I mean? I've been banging his drum since God knows when and I wish he was at the CFC.

Speaker: Chelsea Blue. But, yeah. what the thing What influences he had? I feel like you've been more solid. um His cameo against Tottenham, you know, his 60 minutes against Atletico Madrid and... um For most most of the game against Leeds, I feel like he's brought a little bit of solidity to your midfield. What do you think?

Speaker: the The thing is, with Belaybar, I didn't realise how confident he was in himself. like So when I see him do certain things, it's not like a rush. it's ah I'll take an extra touch. I'll drop a shoulder. I'll play a pass. Physically, I'm in i'm in there. like He's got everything. He's like a good all -round.

Speaker: midfielder. He's confident with his passing as well, long range. short range off both feet. Like, he's willing to do, like... In that Flacco game, was it he won the ball. dropped the shoulder, switched it with his left foot. and i'm just No, with his right foot. He's left footed, ain't he? Yeah, but he done it right. But he done it but he done't it was right, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, I'm just saying like this is this is a... Good footballer. but then at the same time in the back of my head i'm like how long until he drinks the the bullshit and then yes falls into what like it's it's so hard for him because obviously he's returning back from an injury as well I think he has had good moments. he hasn't been He's done nothing wrong.

Speaker: I'm not going to overhype it, but... i'm I'm happy we got him. Now that I see him with my own eyes, like I catch Brighton here and hair there. But now that I'm seeing what he's doing, I'm like, wow, he's really... way better than I thought he was but We just have to see when he actually gets his proper game rhythm and he keeps going like...

Speaker: Yeah, cool. He's going to be a solid player. it maybe It looks like it's going to be him and Kobe. It looks like that's eventually... Kobe even just went out with injury. like i don't know what I don't know what's going on. Bye. I think that's eventually the goal.

Speaker: And then he's going to eventually try that. free midfield with Kobe. The Labour Bruno. and see if he can get that to work and then hopefully one of the wingers starts performing better and then we look like a better team. but Yeah.

Speaker: i'm I'm happy we got believers. I'll just say that. and um I know we haven't spoken about the game but... For me... It's less about the game and more about... the current state of Manchester United I think Michael Carrick as a manager.

Speaker: He's scared. he doesn't know what to do I don't think he really has a plan B or C. It's kind of like... I'm going to go with the A and just hope something cracks because...

Speaker: His lineups are a bit confusing. his in -game adjustments it's like he just doesn't know what to do they seem pre -planned because some of the subs it doesn't seem like he's really doing it for the moment someone like Something like today.

Speaker: Bruno's having a stinker. Telemans comes off. So I'm like... i'm i'm I'm just like trying to work out like. Did you just... in your head picture that Telemans is just going to come off anyway and then you just did it yeah like you're not You're not really coaching the moment. You're kind of just coaching the games.

Speaker: game by game and then it's just kind of leading to this whole weird thing and then all everyone's playing badly every single player is playing badly There's only, like, I can't even pick out, it like, LaMenza's kicking's rubbish. Both of our fullbacks are rubbish. Our centre -backs...

Speaker: Boy, I don't know. And it's just, not nothing's working. Nothing in this. potions working and it's just We're just slowly going to fall behind. That's it.

Speaker: So let's less's hone in a little bit more on today's game, yeah? um you're in your usual four two three one for me oh no more of a lack of four three three um no 4 -2 -3 -1 because Tillemans was like really bombing on wasn't he so with Bruno on the right um And...

Speaker: you know Looking at the first half in particular. What? What did you think of your performance? And in my opinion, Leeds had quite a bit of joy playing out. And what do you think caused that?

Speaker: playing out from the back. to attack. Amen. I think it's... partially more to do with like We don't really have an idea on whether we're pressing or not. I think... Our triggers are all set up completely wrong. Obviously, I'm not a coach. I can't tell you.

Speaker: it's exactly how it should be but what i see throughout a 90 minutes just doesn't make sense as to what we're doing. So I feel like... other teams Laka leads who are, they've been playing from the back since Bielsa. That's their thing. And it's just continued. all the way to Daniel Fark.

Speaker: so Date. This is like muscle memory. They're comfortable in that. if If your press has got holes in it, they're just going to play through. And then that's is exactly what happens. It's like almost every team we play can play through the back apart from us.

Speaker: I think we look like the worst team in the league. even though we're not at the bottom I think we struggle at every aspect of football. That's... That's what it is. we're not We're not doing particularly well and everything. We're just very low and everything. That's where I stand on it. and For the game itself, I was watching it in bits, so i couldn't really I can't really give you a...

Speaker: in -depth analysis on either either half but it's just from what i was seeing it's just the same thing from like the last like four games. I don't think we've won a game since, what was it? Ipswich was the last game that we won. yeah yeah And I saw the way in like... beginning of september maybe end of august like it's just We... We have moments in the game where we're good and those moments probably last that five minutes.

Speaker: And that's about it. The rest of the game was surviving. The rest of the match was just surviving. That's about it. Well, that is kind of what happened this this game. You know, you you got your you got your you got your foot on the ball a little bit more at the end of the second ended of the first half. Coming out into the second half, Leeds just came out on crud with energy.

Speaker: I think lead leads. Especially in the first half, they did seem a bit off it because I was expecting Leeds to straight away just blast out of the water. Just run us off the park, blah, blah, blah. And I think...

Speaker: common it um In the changing room. The second off -team talk. their manager just probably just told them like bro just just run at these guys bro they don't they're not on it they're not on it just just run it and then they just turn it up a notch for those First, like 10, 15 minutes of the half.

Speaker: got there going and it was just like bro like in the in the first survival mode In the first 10 minutes, I think they had... I'm just guessing but I think they had more crosses into the box in the first 10 minutes than they did in the first half like that's how much for me it's weird in those moments where don't get me wrong like ah obviously I'm not saying It's easy. However...

Speaker: at some point It's almost as if you guys only gain possession of the ball when Leeds got tired rather than you guys pressing them to death. to get that ball back. Do you get what I mean? So, like, they've they've got you in a low block and they've repeatedly put balls in your box and they're committing more men into the box. But I always talk to my teams about...

Speaker: Put the pressure on the ball. Put the pressure on the ball so they can't cross it. And then if he can't cross it and he has to pass back, that's when everybody steps up. And and I just don't see that. And when the ball goes backwards... the United are so slow to come out of that.

Speaker: deep defensive shape. and then go into that you know mid block or high press or whatever And... What ends up happening is you you end up... been under pressure for so long and wham bam you know you concede things like that um I'm just really worried for Carrick, even though I said I don't see them sacking him.

Speaker: I'm worried in the sense that... I'm seeing a lot of really...

Speaker: basic things, structural things, and and things that you can influence as a coach. so individual and in performance i can't necessarily always influence yeah somebody might just be crap However, What? the team does in each phase of play and what our objective is.

Speaker: As a coach you should be able to influence that. So... Bye. Yeah, and i and too many times I just see Man United just doing the wrong thing. yeah and then um it's the same typical thing i think since about i think ollie was the last manager who was able to get anything out of us in terms of like When the tide gets bad, like actually fighting to get back into games and actually showing.

Speaker: Like... we actually want to get a win rather than ah The game's going bad. Forget it, man. Guys, let's just... mail it in for the rest of the game and then see what happens. like that like They could have scored right at the end. They actually almost won it if like right at the end. So you're just like...

Speaker: Typical Man United, that would have gone in. but um yeah there's there's so many things that's happened with Man United. So I just want to try and condense it all into one. And then last week, I mean, earlier this week, we had the whole Lissandra Martinez calling out the board. What did you think of that? Man United.

Speaker: So for me, I was in two minds of about it, yeah, only because I was just looking and thinking that. What are you even trying to say? Are you saying that everyone on the team's dead? like That's why we're in this situation we're in. so like That's That's what I was thinking. I was like, oh, we didn't get enough investment. The team's not ready to compete. and the I'm thinking like...

Speaker: Who are you actually talking about? what What's going on? Is this at the board or is this at your teammates? Here's here's here's my thing, yo. And this is why somebody who has a...

Speaker: who who maybe is a bit more articulate than him. You know, he's a bit more, if that's the right word, but who who can speak a bit better and explain their points a bit better. If that person had stepped up to have that conversation, I think it would have been better in the sense that...

Speaker: He was too vague. and too open -ended and it left a lot to interpret and I think that worked against him. Because now people are just coming to their own conclusions. Like, oh, you're calling everyone crap and things like that. So, for example, a great way to ah communicate that the sporting director is is crap. is we needed another left back and now we've had to play Aiden Heaven at left back.

Speaker: For me, If that. Whoever had spoken out articulated that. I don't think.

Speaker: A single soul out there could have disagreed with that. But because he said... um the recruitment wasn't good enough and just left it open like that. Now, people can just speculate and say, you're talking about Andre Santos. You're talking about Tillerman. What you actually trying to say? And i get don't get me wrong, a lot of United fans are drinking the Kool -Aid and they're saying, yes, Martinez, you're calling out the board. And I'm just like, wait, hold on.

Speaker: Luke Shaw said we didn't make enough sign -ins. Harry Maguire said we didn't make enough sign -ins. Martina said we didn't make ah um enough sign -ins. That's our worst department, defense. So...

Speaker: what What are you guys trying to say? Are you trying to say like you guys just want other people to come in and do your job for you? like are you Are you not willing to raise your level? like even Even look at the performances from those three people as well.

Speaker: Who do you guys think you are? Like, the players back in my day, when the players used to go and... Go to the board or go to the press and start saying stuff like, oh, we need new players. That was always the best player on the team. That was always the Rooney. That was always the leaders, the guys who are actually carrying you. you got these guys bro what the hell Now look I agree with that, yeah. These guys are like big dogs. What?

Speaker: And I've heard this same talking point on like talk sport in the media, whatever. And they're saying, oh, he's basically saying. like you're you saying that you wanted in more players You'd probably want to be one of the first people they'd replace if they want to improve. Yeah. yeah yeah so now here's here's my caveat here's my caveat to that yeah Quote like.

Speaker: In an ideal world, a top player is also going to want... top players to come in. and and a top play that I don't think it's that oh you know, they're being deluded and think they're top player. And um I genuinely think they want top players to come in. So the team benefits so that they have competition and raise the whole level of the team. That's my that's what I would think a professional football player... at Man United would want.

Speaker: And the thing is, I 100 % agree with what you're saying. I fully hear that. But the reason why Manchester United aren't able to spend the money that we need to spend is because you guys have been mailing it in for the last like five years and we haven't been getting Champions League football. So we don't have the money to just go and sign. um Okay, but then heres mo but then he know but then his argument is, we got you the Champions League now. we we go in that Yeah, but that's not how it works. You don't just qualify once and then you get 500 million to go spend. It doesn't work like that.

Speaker: like it's like these guys are living in like a fairy tale but it's like so okay let me let me pose this question to you so you believe Jim Ratcliffe you believe them man when they say they ain't got peace Nope.

Speaker: Exactly, so So exactly, see what I'm saying? See what I'm saying? No, but what I'm saying is... Because you what's your revenue? What's your revenue? 700 million? What's your revenue? Probably. for The real ones, not what Man City were doing. not Yeah, not the Man City. We'll talk about that later. Not the cryp to not the the crypto They were recording record profits during COVID and everyone was losing money and no one said a word.

Speaker: though dont they were They weren't even properly. um Now, what what and seeing what I'm saying is, right? I've been off the Ineos train for the light since...

Speaker: hammer instead after that he lost to the like to Tottenham. That was it for me. what They're not here to make us a successful football club. They had to cash in, bro. They wanted to build a new stadium to make as much money as possible so they could do the concerts. and Bro, Man United will probably never get back to and anything.

Speaker: I would be surprised. If we win another title within the next 15 years, I'll be surprised. That's that's where I sit. all jokes aside i think i think you got People if people didn't like the glazes I think you've got the worst person to come in and...

Speaker: and not take over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, honestly. All of the asset um assets are football -related or sports -related are all failing. everything like they hit They've got the biggest cash cow they've ever... They can't believe they're involved in Man United football right now. They're going to rinse it dry. So when I'm saying that they don't have the money, they don't have the money that they're willing to spend.

Speaker: yeah they they're not They're not willing to front the money. They're not willing to, okay, cool, let's look at the bigger picture. Let's let's overspend now. so that We can get into the Champions League and be more competitive and then maybe we'll be able to balance the bots later on down the line. They're not going to do that.

Speaker: That seems like a dumb decision to them. And even when I say overspent, I don't mean compete with Elliot Anderson. I don't mean all that. I'm saying... At the end of last season. when you looked at this team,

Speaker: That was the least. six positions that needed to be filled. We needed three midfielders. We needed another striker. We needed another centre -back. And we needed another... Fallback.

Speaker: They were going, I want everyone to clearly remember this. They were happy with Andre Santos. and Uri Tillemans, they were knocked going to sign the labour until... Mason Mount got injured.

Speaker: I don't think you remember Mason Mount got injured in the thing and then all of a sudden Kool were accelerating the belabour deal you know what you're right because that belabour deal was always on the table

Speaker: like You had that contract agreed. It was always is there from you like the window. And that's why I was always confused. Why is my man not even being bought already? like why Why are you getting Tillemans and Santos first? Because they weren't they weren't really going to do that deal. They knew their hands were starting to get tired. And when Mount went down injured again, they were just like, we have to do something.

Speaker: Let's just sign them because... But how have we not ended the transfer window with a left back, with another centre back, and we're just going into the... Like, what's our objective from the Champions League this year? like what just to barely make out the group and then That's about it. And then what what about the league?

Speaker: Now you have Brighton flying. Chelsea seem to be doing all right. Man City are doing good. Arsenal are going to keep winning. Villa, new life. They've just got all these new players and now Emery's just got them cooking again. I don't know what the hell's going on over there. then you if you If you man got you man need Jackson.

Speaker: Like just to get you guys. Nicholas Jackson. Yeah, man. Just to get you guys hooping. You know what I think of Nicholas Jackson, man. Hey. Hey. I said, no, I can't even. Ooh, if I said that. Ooh.

Speaker: but I'll be... I think he... He's the best player with ADD I've ever seen, bro. You get this. I was going to say something way worse, but he he's the best player I've ever seen with that. Because he he he just he just isn't mentally clocked in right now. but when need When it clicks, you'll see the best striker in the league. comfortably, comfortably.

Speaker: Bye. Not to drag on, there's so many different parts about Man United I can go into, you but... I'll just say it. listen what strapping bumpy ride is not going to be fun it's going to be fun for everyone else ah I'm trying not to get triggered because...

Speaker: The season was only in October. through it's still long it's long long We've got bad results pending. And do you think they're going to do something in in January? Especially now with with the words, with the comments of, you know, um Martinez, which obviously...

Speaker: other players in the squad feel the same and the manager feels the same you don't think they're going to push for something we didn't make one cell this summer. we didn't make one there's no money there's no magical pot of money that's going to be spent to bring you At most. We'll get along. If you man knew what this good if you mom knew what was good for you, you would have just...

Speaker: agreed a fee for Rashford like in terms of terminating his contract we would have if we knew what was good for us we should have sold Bruno and we should have sold Rashford and we should have just kept it stepping and start to try and actually do a rebuild I mean the club the club wanted to sell Bruno though Yeah, ah but they didn't they didn't want to sell them hard enough for she just saw them

Speaker: It is what it is. what What can we do? PFA Player of the Year and he's stinking out this year. It is what it is. Wait, wait, wait. Man's played a game for half the year, bruv.

Speaker: He didn't turn up the first half. We did our campaign. we get We did our campaign. He's got his player of the year, man. Who cares, bro? I don't care that much. No idea that's what he cares about.

Speaker: Random side note, yeah. Bro, randomly, my dad would just call me and just ask me like, oh. He'll just ask me like, oh, why? I always see you talking, complaining on TikTok. United.

Speaker: And then... And you just say, why don't you just support another team? I'm like, well... that's all i That's not... let's move on. to The blue side of London, man. You guys, I don't know how i don't how to feel about you guys. I enjoy watching you guys. I can't really... i can't really really um say

Speaker: much more than that because it's just it's not that it's unpredictable you guys have the firepower to hurt any team in this league. Definitely. It's just the sum of the other parts. you your Your midfield is... way... too late. It's too late.

Speaker: But... That doesn't mean that you still can't. hand it to some some guys on on your day. but um what yeah so what what What I'll start off by saying is, moving forward, you're going to see how... uh, our results our performances are going to become proven And it's going to become a lot more.

Speaker: just assertive that's my that's my prediction right now and just in the sense that we're going to be a lot less chaotic now as long as Caicedo stays fit. I want to add that caveat in because honestly, and that's my first first bit of... um bit about Chelsea that I want to talk about.

Speaker: Just having two genuine midfielders in there. Two genuine midfielders that... want to work, want to run. want to tackle, want to header. um And we just haven't had that for a very long time. Honestly, mate. Who would have thought that you would be um praising Jordan Henderson? Hey, at this stage life comes at you fast, bro. Man went my way to Saudi.

Speaker: and I might came back. collected the bag and said yeah take me back home man this is dead this is dead But let's play for Chelsea. I thought he was retired. I thought I thought bad stuff fairs man fairs man but honestly like he didn't he get a brace in the in the game against Bournemouth as well yes yes he did yes he like smacking three kicks in like bro what's going on

Speaker: He's feeding himself. He's feeding himself. But I know his body's burning after every game for him. But he he is running. More than anybody else.

Speaker: um um'm But I'm being so serious. ah he's um He's a lot better than I thought he would be at this stage in his career. I honestly I I didn't think he'd be mobile enough. I genuinely didn't think he'd be. working as hard as he... and running He's running the most in the whole team.

Speaker: at 36 years old and What I love about that is age isn't important to me. What I do love about that is he's coming in and he's saying, yo. I'm running.

Speaker: You guys better match me Yeah, he said he's setting the standard. now he comes He comes from a good crop, though, with the Liverpool lot. well that was That was a bare minimum requirement for... Jurgen Klopp. So he's just come and bringing that to Chelsea and saying that.

Speaker: That's... at minimum if you run hard enough you're giving yourself a 50 % chance of winning the game you guys this this is the upper echelon of the sport So... that's it If you work harder than most other teams, you're going to do all right. You're going to do all right. button. At the end of the day.

Speaker: Running hard, second balls, staying concentrated, winning headers. That is the foundation to getting results. And then once you collect the ball back by running hard, then you show your talent.

Speaker: but you have to do the running hard bit and for too long We have employed players. We have paid guys the bag. that just don't do that. And I'm so happy Enzo's not with us anymore.

Speaker: Like, I am so excited. I'm so excited for what what we can become once we get. a higher level of midfielder to partner, can I say, though? Because, look... and the thing i say i said pre i think i said it on one of the tick tocks i posted You can't judge Chapio Alonso.

Speaker: When he didn't have any midfielders. for the first few games Reese James. playing instead of mid. Lavia, yes, he's supposed to be a midfielder. The guy has been injured for three years. He's the same player he was at 19 years old. He's now 22.

Speaker: And you guys now won. to judge Xabi Alonso as a coach or as a manager. based off that midfield duo. And then I'm seeing comments like, oh, the midfield's not that important it's to be playing this bad football.

Speaker: Look at... Dope. difference in our performance against Bournemouth. and Everton. with Caicedo in the middle of the park. The basketball end -to -end stuff, it stopped.

Speaker: It stopped. Like... Yes, we conceded like a crap set piece against Bournemouth, but the basketball football is stopped. We are a lot more solid. It's a lot less... um easy to get through the middle of us and that's because of Henderson and Caicedo. and it's given the defenders a ah lot more protection.

Speaker: And this is my point. Like, I know our defenders have made individual errors. But the midfield and the attackers must... provide your defence with protection.

Speaker: Look at the way you guys press and how easy it is to play through you and then attack your back line. Now, your back line may not be the best. But they can look a lot better than they are looking if you're attacking midfield with doing their job.

Speaker: I'd like And yeah until we reach to a point where that's happening. stop all this Alonso is not a good coach nonsense give it time relax so I'm just Go on. The thing is with the lungs or that... I'm liking right now already is that cool he doesn't have all the pieces that he needs but he's trying enough things to find the solution facts he's not No, no one No one is like...

Speaker: he's not He's not pinned down to... formation or a system as it stands obviously we know he's got his preferred But... he's triumphing He's trying to find a solution. like Even I saw the stat yesterday.

Speaker: You guys haven't had a clean sheet for the last, like, what, 20 games? Wow. And that was your first one. Obviously, can I say that coming back is a big thing, but... As soon as you guys figure out the defensive end of your team.

Speaker: Um... Yo. your attack is just going to start speaking for itself because I rate Jal Pedro individually, Cole Palmer, obviously, and Morgan Rogers. he's He's better than I thought he would be in in the system, even though...

Speaker: For Villa, I think he was hot and cold a lot of the times. But then at the same time, amongst those three, Yeah, Pedro Neto performing better, though. So then it's like.

Speaker: What? now now the whole team's taking the uplift rather than p plateauing so it's just like you're going to start getting better. You're going to see a certain level of consistency that might just see you get Champions League football. You're going to have high um high highs. They're going to have low lows, but then it's just about.

Speaker: picking it picking it up and taking advantage when you actually can when you're on top killing teams. Like the 5 -1 against Bournemouth, that's a big statement. Not many team people are going to do that against them. no Many people aren't going to do that. No.

Speaker: And... The thing I, um what was the point i I wanted to say? is... Look, going and more into the game that we played recently, that Everton game.

Speaker: Whew. Honestly, mate, best result. of the whole season. Best win of the whole season. Even much better than that 5 -1 against Bournemouth. Like, going away from home.

Speaker: Going to Everton, have you seen our record at Everton? Atrocious. We've scored two goals in nine games. ah Everton. prior to this game. and Watching these guys step on that pitch.

Speaker: And just... battle Everton. Just battle them first. winning that battle and then going and scoring. those goals that won us the game. honestly mate i was so so impressed in the first half They...

Speaker: They were doing a lot to get us going and the ref was... being a very very very harsh with some of the yellow cards he was giving us and you could see we were getting more and more frustrated We needed that halftime to come.

Speaker: When it got to about 35 -40, we needed the halftime to come as quickly as possible because we needed to we needed to reset. And we got about four yellow cards in like... 15 minutes or something like that and you can see slowly we started to lose control now last year Way to go, Red Card.

Speaker: We'd have lost our heads. and And then we would have ended up losing. Oh yeah, you guys were getting red cards back. It was nothing last season. we We would have 100 % got a red card and then we would have lost the game.

Speaker: But this year... They went and they went out at halftime, they had they calmed down, and they came out. On fire. Immediate goal. with um ah yeah immediate goal as as the game started. and honestly that stuff comes from the coach as much as alonso doesn't want to take credit for it The fact that we're scoring so early in games.

Speaker: The fact that we're... scoring so quickly after half -time. That comes from the coach. And I would wager... that Every start of the game or...

Speaker: starting the half he is going out with specific tactical instructions that those players are executing I bet he's noticing witnessness weaknesses. from the opponents and he is getting ease is taking advantage of those weaknesses. um and I think that's a coaching thing. I don't think that's by accident.

Speaker: I think... Not necessarily to always score as quickly as possible, but I think that's a product of good coaching. It must be. Or good analysts as well who are noticing weakness from the team because youll you'll see it's all different types of goals. all different types of goals. It's not just one way of scoring as well. So um I'm very, very, very, very impressed with Alonso at the moment.

Speaker: Um... There has been... some questions or some some some decisions and But... Honestly, every in terms of each game, I feel like he's He's...

Speaker: put in a plan. for each opponent And for the most part, it's it's it's it's come off. So so big up to him. Big up to the players, man. and Big up to Kai Sado, man, honestly.

Speaker: Honestly, what i forgot what of I've actually forgotten about how good he is. um and how integral he is to this team. Yeah. so but what What happened? um How long is Emi Martinez out for? Because I know he picked up injury in the last game as well.

Speaker: So with that hit. head collision, with that collision and concussion, I think you've got to have a minimum of two weeks, depending on the gradient of concussion, or 10 days, one of one of the two. um But he's actually broken his jaw.

Speaker: um So he fractured his jaw. Right, so it's probably a bit worse. Yeah, yeah, so that'll be... Usually for a fracture, you get, what, six weeks recovery. so It's looking like a minimum of six weeks in and around that. So it's an opportunity for the second keeper Mike Penders to step up. um um you got some games as well we it's peak games bro it's peak games i think my my worry there is We have literally got to a point of stability.

Speaker: And we have a settled starting lineup at Ching Pong, Lacroix, Colville. One of the left wing backs, if if whatever. But most of the team is settled. Midfield is settled now. Front three is settled.

Speaker: And it it's just bad timing now that we would now have to put in a new piece into that equation. and He's 21. I hope he's got the temperament for it. I hope he's got... the the quality for it let's let's see how he goes but i am i am a little bit worried about how he gets on

Speaker: yeah So what's our fixtures? Have you got it in front? yeah I've got it here so you've got Spurs next that's an easy dub man you guys are at home as well people keep saying that man let's not jinx it man You know, is they they they play well in moments, but um they've still got that same thing that they've been having for the last couple of seasons where...

Speaker: When things start to go like if they don't score While they're on top. they kind of give up. That's basically what it is. even Even against us, I said that we were going to lose that game against them, not because... like I think they're secretly good. I just think they...

Speaker: playing better football than us. Eventually, it's go it's going to come good at some point, but... yeah you got enough They got nothing going for them at the moment.

Speaker: I think we even played. No, not not us. Who had they got themselves? I don't even know. But yeah, you've got so you've got Spurs next, then you've got um Liverpool in the EFL Cup.

Speaker: and then And then you've got us. Mm -hmm. Okay. Yeah, a three -peat chemist player. So, yeah, man, let's see let's see how we're going. Look, I'm going into it relatively confident. um i think I think Liverpool and midweek game, I think that'll be... a little bit difficult. um united united united so i feel like every time we play united united turn up so you know,

Speaker: the United could be in the worst form ever and you man would just turn up for our game. So it is what it is. i I can't lie. yeah i I don't know if I'm good at making predictions, but I think...

Speaker: I think something bad's going to happen that game. or I think i find that that'll be the game where the signals start flagging for us that proper. that Even though you can lose to Chelsea, but... Yeah. 12 .30 kick -off on a Saturday. It's 12 .30, right? Yeah. bo how I'm not sure how I feel about that one. nothing I think that can go that's going one way in my head. I'm not even gonna lie.

Speaker: We might get smoked. I hope so. I hope so. I think that i think we'll be we'll end up being... our own enemies will be our biggest enemies in terms of yeah you know making mistakes or not taking chances and that's that's the part that's going to frustrate me so i really hope we're we're on it and and we're clinical and if we're if we if we are on it and clinical i think we'll we'll have a decent day so let's see let's see how it goes man uh but that'll be ah that'll be a pod for the ages that'll be a good point

Speaker: don't blame the ref Darby bro I'm on the With the sun never shining. Imagine that. No, he's shining on the blue side, bro. No anymore. They got found guilty, bro. They are killing.

Speaker: So before, let's let's talk a bit about that. But before we move on to that, let's... um I do want to heap some praise on my boys a little bit. On my boys. Number one, I want to say Palmer.

Speaker: This guy is running stats. He's on 12 .1. Kilometres for a K -7 tune. To put it into context. Yeah, do the London Marathon then, man. Bro, chill, bro, chill, chill. You can't listen to this, bro. And you know what? The reason why I'm hyping it here is because...

Speaker: In the previous years... He hasn't been working. I can see him. miss He's not really working as hard. He's not pressing as hard. And it's just so great to see that we have... one of the better The attacking talents we've got, and he's working as hard as he is. He's running more than Rodgers, running more than all of them.

Speaker: and He's only second to Henderson. So for me that... I love to see it. I love it. I love it. Even when Pedro is being lazy or not. tracking someone literally Palmer's coming across the pitch and he's pressing someone like bro it's it's fantastic to see and I ah really hope he has a good season Number two, Achienpong, right back, right centre -back, wherever he's playing, he's... What?

Speaker: What? What a player bro. What a player. That is a proper, proper talent. Cobham does it again. well and we have another it's a pipeline it's a conveyor belt it's just constant it's just constant they're coming in we've got another one called um ah Jazuli, something Jazuli. he's that kid whoa cold cold and then another one called watson ben watson's kid um

Speaker: I forgot the kid's name, but his last name is Watson. Whoa. Yeah. We might not even have to sign a sentiment. If we could just... No, let's sign a sentiment. But honestly...

Speaker: We need to make sure one of these Kakani's guys gets gets into our centre mid because... what are we just looking back bro we just need to i'm just so glad we've got alonzo now and we've got a bit of stability and i could just come to this pod with a smile and just i Yes! I just... Enjoy some football games, you know? i I don't have to come here. screaming all the time.

Speaker: like Whoa. That's a blessing. That's such a blessing. I'm so cooked, man. I'm so cooked, bro. I've got nothing. I've actually got nothing going for me, you know. None um none of my favourite players are playing well. every The ups are shining.

Speaker: It's just i'm gonna stop trying to do it let's um Let's talk about um the Man City Chargers here.

Speaker: mm -hmm 900 million. And over. yeah period of what 10 years or something like that eight years Mhm. I think we have to talk about this in like ah in like a...

Speaker: bit of a like broken down way obviously not going too much into it like I said it's a bit dated now even though it's probably the biggest news in football history right now because who how do you even know how to do it so let's let's start with the Do you know what's funny to me? Do you know what's funny to me?

Speaker: Of course they would. Cooking the books? Of course they were. That's exactly what I was just about to say. Did you think they were guilty? like From the time when this was even started getting... Like, there was even whispers and murmurs about it. Did you think they were guilty? Because I knew they were guilty. strength thought I knew they were guilty. I knew they were guilty from...

Speaker: Obviously, it's hard to say from that perspective. Well, physically dead wo it' physically impossible. To spend as much as they did in such a short period of time i love making some over whoa And having FFP on your back. like it was physically impossible and you had to cook the books You had to cook it.

Speaker: like you had I think initially when they started cooking the books... It. I don't think anyone really cared that much. It was a little bit of a talking thing, but I think, I i don't know, there's like a breakdown going around on X. of um So the first year...

Speaker: they were like basically operating as an actual football club. Every year after that they were just cheating. I literally... after the first season um I think who who was their manager was it martin martin Mancini or um the one before I don't know who it was Hughes Hughes yeah it might have been Hughes as soon as they got Mancini Yeah.

Speaker: just started cheating and it wasn't even like it was like light cheating then it was alright let's just cheat let's just cheat let's just cheat and it was just like boat it's it was just egregious these like and honestly like there's a lot of clubs that sit in a room and they go alright cool what are the rules what's the possible fine what's the possible what's the risk alright cool F it let's just go let's just take the risk yeah because they've got a lot of multi -million well by the time they

Speaker: Look, they're going to appeal it. They're probably going to get a little bit less than everybody thinks, yeah? in my opinion, um because they're going to... you know They're going to have things that they're going to try and fight against, whatever. But I like.

Speaker: At the end of it, this is what they used to calculate. They were like... Alright cool, what's our possible punishment? I feel like it's going to be a neck pep. positive by the time they're done bro Is it going to be a net positive? Yeah.

Speaker: the thing The thing is, I think... they They got greedy at the start. And then once they started to realise that, all right, cool, we've done a lot. We've done a lot of it. because That's why it's over that. Period of time they were doing way too much over that period of time. So now they've started to slowly calm down and allegedly they've started to

Speaker: Calm down a bit. But as soon as they knew these charges were dropping, they went and spent $100 million on Enzo, $100 million on Elliot Anderson, $80 million on Bouadi. They just said, we're going to... Pay it forward.

Speaker: They know what's going to come and obviously it's going away from football now and it's time to get to the political side because you have the Prime Minister talking about certain things, you have the the state talking. They know they've got their hands tied. They know they've got the Premier League and the country tied because...

Speaker: you can't really punish us like that if you talk to any of the city fans or like see any of the city commentary of what the regeneration that the the state has done for that area of Manchester.

Speaker: bro they're not gonna be willing to just throw that away For me, I would say right now, as obviously. Politics is politics, but... That was a... dumb move commenting on on the Manchester thing. what yeah he should do the shop by the president by the Prime Minister of the UK to be commenting On.

Speaker: That, yeah. but But the thing is, the reason why he did is because he probably got a call.

Speaker: the One of them, probably Cal Dune, whoever, called him and said, hey, you see what's going on? You better say something, bro. But then they retracted it. Obviously, his press officer was, bro, what did you just do? Yeah, yeah, Because um the Premier League is It's not supposed to be linked to you. politics and all that kind of stuff. Come on, it brings them way too much money. It brings them way too much money not to be a... like look look at ah Look at the way they destroyed Chelsea, bruv. Yeah, like yeah, yeah.

Speaker: did this This punishment. So, all right, cool. let's Let's go. So we both think they're guilty. We can start off there. The... the The points in which we realised they were... They are guilty. They are guilty. It's just about whether they want to get... How they...

Speaker: just you know get a reduced reduced sentence and if they could if they can disprove if they If they can prove that the panel that... for um,

Speaker: that took the case were biased and disregarded evidence If they can do that, then they'll... they'll They'll get some they'll get yeah reduction in it. But what what doesn't help them is the fact that they were avoiding court they weren't really cor cooperating either.

Speaker: So now now is it done you you got it's so many different aspects. But the reason why they didn't... cooperate was to make it as hard and long as possible. So...

Speaker: If they're innocent, you just show them what you need to show them, right? In the court of law, what's innocent and what's guilty, bro? I mean, so I think.

Speaker: I think now moving forward I think it gets really messy. Now, I've read some... on on yeah In the Premier League handbook, it's... Any appeal should take a maximum of three months.

Speaker: So yeah if they appealed two weeks ago. We won't see a verdict till Jan. maybe close of jail next year. Yeah. But... here Where it gets messy is...

Speaker: Dude. City find some sort of loophole where they can extend that or where whether they can bring the case elsewhere maybe they take it to an independent Break your leg off.

Speaker: Outside of. the premier league you know, because I know that Premier League has an independent panel. But if City can argue that it needs to go to an independent regulator...

Speaker: outside of the family league then it wouldn't fall underneath the Premier League's three months. rule and this could take ages. Yeah, and I think that's why they're they're probably stretching their hands behind the scenes to other things outside of football because...

Speaker: If you cheated, you've cheated, right? And they've obviously got you banged to rights to the point where they're willing to announce that, yeah, we've come to a verdict. They didn't drop the case. They didn't do nothing. They've they've done enough to say that, no, you're guilty of cheating, bro. Like 900 million of...

Speaker: sham contracts and embezzled, not embezzled money, like, bro, the language they were using was damning. They've got you. but then i but then i think about but the i think the language is a mistake And the reason why it's so...

Speaker: It's so... the words you're using like it means so much especially in the court of law like if you're saying it's a sham contract can you have you proven it's a sham contract and like from a city point of view I'll take that and i'll and i'll And I'll target that.

Speaker: And I'll say you're biased. Because you're using that wording, but you haven't proved it. It's a sham. All you've proved is I've... um I've cooked the books with some extra funding. so Yeah, but then when you're going to LinkedIn and you're seeing stocked photos of of people... running businesses there's no employees you're sponsoring Man City 100 million Come on, man.

Speaker: Like, you know what I mean? i'm Like, not to say that there's... like they're obviously guilty of some things in it they were found guilty on everything but they're definitely guilty on a few things so now Cool.

Speaker: if If we look at it from this perspective, yeah. Let's say they are guilty. Let's say they do their pill and it fails. What is the correct punishment? for something like that. most You're talking about a dynasty a dynasty being built.

Speaker: yeah the back of it. Horrid cheating. When in multiple places, Premier Leagues to the point where they've also been able to build a team to win the Champions League yeah and then also...

Speaker: Think about all the teams that missed out on Champions League football, looked down hundreds of millions. You've got teams that got relegated off the back of losing. twice to them in this season. and all it like There's so many different...

Speaker: feel you could even Even me, I'm saying look into the transfers as well because some of these numbers are not making sense. They're not making sense. but yeah go ahead so I think it's got to be a large amount of points over many seasons Now... Hmm. If they would have to do the calculations on...

Speaker: If they were given fair market value on their sponsors in that period of time, they'd have to calculate it year by year. How much would they have... exceeded ffp by and what's the um related you know points deduction that they should be getting do you know what I mean and then you take that points because it's probably over 200 points anyway you take those points in my opinion and then you split it across multiple multiple seasons there is an argument to say that they shouldn't be relegated

Speaker: because of the issues that that could cause for example this the Football League would the Football League even want to take them because that would distort their leagues a little bit because City would have way more money than any of the teams in in in their leagues um so that would affect the competitive balance in their league.

Speaker: it could be a case the Premier League have to keep them in the Premier League and just say here's your 40 points deduction at the start of each season for the next four or five years I don't know yeah so like deduct them enough points not to get relegated but to put them like Just like...

Speaker: Yes. anywhere between 13th and like... 16th. Like, yeah just i come come like come light April, you just deduct an amount that makes sense. Like, we just decide how much to do. Because at the end of the day, those three teams still need to get promoted from the championship.

Speaker: Um, are you still allowing them to play every game? If you are, then what what does that mean? Like, they're still going to keep all their players. like And because... They're not being relegated. they don't have the same financial constraints as the championship. um clubs because I think there's a threshold of how much they're allowed to spend on wages and all this kind of stuff. yeah So what happens? They're just a ghost club until...

Speaker: the the fines are done or like the points deductions are done like what yeah What happened? there's Yeah, there's just too many factors. It's too big. It's mad, it's mad. but One... so To now flip it on its head, Joe, here's my question.

Speaker: Is it actually cheating?

Speaker: Is it cheap? So his here's the contradiction. He listened to the contradiction. Yeah. and joe calls and i thought about it then i heard joe call say it i was like bro it's true Because look, at the end of the day, Chelsea... are where we are today because we spend obscene amounts of money. Yeah.

Speaker: Now... People say, especially those that support the Newcastles, the Villas, the X, Y and Z. People say it's bad that those clubs are constrained in their spending or so constrained to the same level as the clubs that already have money, who are already established. And it makes it harder for those teams to bridge the gap because they can't. they do you know It's too difficult. And their owners cannot invest as much money as they would want to.

Speaker: Yeah. Mhm. So in the same breath, how can we now then say it's wrong for City? to invest money. do um I think City have exploited the big flaw in the current.

Speaker: uh where the premier league is run because at the end of the day even though we can say they've cheated right It's not like the Premier League don't benefit from having all these amazing players, having Pep, having been being able to watch... um all those Real Madrid versus Man City games in the Champions League and them being in a good representation of... Like, like all all of these things are the stuff the Premier League is benefiting from. And if you didn't allow them to spend the money...

Speaker: if you didn't allow them to spend the money What would the Premier League be right now? What like? Arsenal, Chelsea and City. like kind of doing all right. I mean, i mean not serious, sorry. liver Liverpool does...

Speaker: Did they just run away with it when the clock comes? and do Do Liverpool even push that hard if Man City aren't even... there like the only reason why they started spending that much is because they had to compete and that led to the city pool era where like boosted the premier league and then there's so many different like things but in terms of more focusing on your question is They cheated based on the rules but I understand the grip.

Speaker: with. that they may have. Because at the end of the day, it's true. like Cool, you've created this big six. can we not just be competitive like as a league like why does it have to be only these six teams that are allowed to operate because they're historically big clubs it's it's not fair that if you look at other sports like um in America with the basketball and like... um NFL nfo as well. they've got the system rigged in a way where it's like...

Speaker: every team will have its moment where you have the opportunity and it's all down to the choices that you make whether it's a draft whether it's how much you pay a player out whether it's um like Right now, sorry, I'm just going to a different sport. like But right now... yeah You have OKC as being one of the best teams.

Speaker: for years. They had great players. but they were never good enough to get over the line. At some point... They took a gamble in a young kid. um SGA.

Speaker: he turns into one of the best players in the league. Then it comes up because they're able to draft like Chet Holmgren and all these other players and then it builds the whole team up and now they're the best. yeah If you asked 10 years ago was that going to happen, probably not.

Speaker: But in the Premier League, there's nothing that allows that to happen. Newcastle, as soon as they got their owners, they should have been allowed to spend all that money They got bare bread. Spend the money. Sign the players. Let's run it.

Speaker: But you can't do that. and And this is my gripe. It's like... i'm just I'm just highlighting the contradiction. And it's a contradiction in those people's minds.

Speaker: They disdain those clubs that spend the money, but also dis they hate the fact that... There. boyhood club or their

Speaker: beloved you know massive oh Newcastle such a massive club they should be able to spin Oslo Villa such a historic club they should be able to spin so there's a real contradiction there and they're not a lot of these pundits are not or people or for fans they're not realising that contradiction in your head so really what you want to say is there needs to be a big reform in the rules because they should be able to spin in just a controlled manner So is it a case of...

Speaker: You know, whatever that whatever format that may be, I just want people to be a little bit more honest. And I feel like there's a... yeah that Don't be wrong. City broke the rules. I know they did. I get it. Yeah. but but If...

Speaker: Like. Wow There's so much hate for teams that spend money. Like look at Wrexham. you know Yes, of course they spent their way out of out ah into the League 1, League 2. Of course they did. What were they meant to do? Not spend the money?

Speaker: Of course they did. Yeah, and just be a lower league club, a non -league side for the rest of the time. People hate that club now. Chelsea, we spend the money. People hate us. Okay, yes, we had a questionable owner. That could be another part of the reason why they hate us, but...

Speaker: It's not the only dodgy owner that... has ever owned a football club. so Exactly. Like... Why do people, I want to really attack that. Why do people hate? the clubs that spend so much money.

Speaker: Because... It's just... it It's a bit of a... snobby way of looking at football in the sense of like basically they just want the historic clubs to remain at the top that's all it is because right now if let's say But that's what really kills competition.

Speaker: That's what really kills competition though. it's It's true, but... But slightly, they don't really want competition like that. They're happy with the Big Six. They're happy with the Super Sunday. They're happy with all that kind of stuff. And that's that's all it is when really...

Speaker: and the other things as well. Not to say that it's... ah Because it's not just that just doesn't affect the Premier League. It has to go all around. football right because the premier league can't be the only people no holds barred being able to spend as much money as they want and then they go into the champions league and go do whatever the hell they like it just creates a level of unfairness in there so It's just...

Speaker: And obviously, what about if you're like, let's say, a billionaire and you bought um ah Wigan. You go spend up. Bare bread. Bare bread. And then you just cut it off. I'm not interested interested anymore. now the crab goes into administration and then all that like it's just it i understand why these rules exist yeah at the same time it's like

Speaker: I feel like if you do buy a football club, I think you have to be tied in for a certain number of years. to allow you have to be able to do this in a proper way that allows the club to if you do decide you want to sell it the club can wind down in a way where it's like okay we're not yeah in complete mess yeah yeah but then but then the way i see it if they were a little bit more creative.

Speaker: I would think maybe you start saying, I don't know if it's possible, but maybe you start saying. If an owner comes in and makes a club spend beyond their means and now have wages that are... large that are way more than their revenue The difference, that owner should be... um um should be made to pay made to pay it.

Speaker: for the two that's for the duration of those contracts. so even if But that's how it works in other sports as well. Really? yeah that's how it works in basketball so basically everyone's got a wage gap right and every time you go over that certain amount you get something called the luxury tax. which has to be paid by the owners.

Speaker: So it's up to you to decide whether you want to over, and it's like a ridiculous amount. It's like dumb money. So it's obviously in your, you're incentivized to make sure that you're keeping players within like yeah paying them within a reasonable amount. but

Speaker: You can do that for the Premier League. You can do that based on revenue. Because that would fix the issue of having these dodgy owners coming in that rinse the club and then throw it away or make stupid decisions that lead to the clubs going into administration. For me, it should be a case of, hey, bro, we're going to calculate the amount that you've made these guys overspend by. That's yours, bro. Yeah, straight out of their pocket. That's coming from me. Don't try and...

Speaker: um put it in a way that it's all the the money's tied to the business name and do the no this money's yours bro I don't know if it's possible obviously there's other things and other factors in terms of like you know, how companies and how they're put together and stuff. I know there's...

Speaker: There might be different ways or blockers that you can't do that, but it would be really nice if they started to do that instead of limiting teams from investing. Yeah, it's just the the thing is, it's just that it requires everyone else to also get...

Speaker: like all the other leagues to catch up as well because Already they're complaining the Premier League has too much money, but from time...

Speaker: um what's it called? Aston Villa can walk into a market and go spend several million on ah whoever the hell they want. And then he turns out to be rubbish. Then go spend the money again. Like, look at the way Liverpool are moving. They bought Darwin Nunes. He was rubbish. Sold him. Then they go and buy Fleur Invert. Then they go buy Bradley Barcola. They're able to just, like, teams are just able to spend money. like in a way that doesn't make sense but then also that's on them lot because they're not dividing their tv revenue

Speaker: In a fair way. Barcelona and Real Madrid are getting like 80 % of their revenue. so Of course you guys aren't going to do anything. No one cares about Italian football. there's not There's nothing exciting there. I think...

Speaker: The one thing that solves all of our problems. and i don't think eventually will happen there needs to be a football streaming service right Yeah. That just has... Every single league.

Speaker: Every single Champions League, whatever. You pay the money today, the money is divided. equally. amongst everyone. maybe not equally equally equally I mean the Premier League itself will probably won't agree to that No, but it just has to be done in a way.

Speaker: like it could be like um subscribe like you know when you have um Amazon Prime, right? And then you can buy extensions. You can buy other subscriptions on top of the one that you already have. I just need to pay a reasonable more amount to be able to watch one.

Speaker: In order for me to watch every game in the Premier League, I'm paying... Almost like... £100 a month. yeah That's not realistic. I think those i think those leagues, if they if they want to catch up to the Premier League, I think they've just got to start being honest with themselves, looking within themselves and coming up with a game plan. them leagues all jokes aside they have not done enough to catch up they haven't done enough to increase their product they haven't done enough to make their leagues Come on. competitive enough.

Speaker: if we're being honest, in terms of the the way they split the money. So if if it's if it's a case of they don't have enough money, then they've got to find a way to generate money, whether that's turning into a streaming service for the league and getting more money, i think or...

Speaker: Or it's a case of splitting the money and giving Barcelona Real Madrid a bit less, which... Which I don't think is ever going to happen. yeah ah That's That's what I'm saying. I think a lot a lot of these institutions, they like the way it is now, man. not As much as we complain as football fans and all that kind of things, that they're flooding us with new competitions every year. There's too much football. Everyone's getting injured.

Speaker: Okay. No one care like that. So, let's go into... Don't blame the riff. What is your don't blame the ref moment of the week? where an individual, a team, an institution, a bird. has done something that they should take responsibility for and not complain about.

Speaker: <unk>t have have you got one but i'm trying i'm trying that's a great question I was just talking Talking, wasting time. Yeah, I know. You're trying to get me. You're trying to quote me. Uh... I can't like, for me, for me.

Speaker: Ugh. Where did I even go with this? I could just... Mmm. oh That seems like a bit of a cheap shot. So for me,

Speaker: I'm gonna go with this one here

Speaker: I'm going to go with Carrick. I'm gonna tell you why I'm gonna go with Carrick. Yeah, go ahead. go ahead The reason why I'm going with characters. Bro. You had your bro, Los Angeles, come out.

Speaker: and it's taken a bit of heat off you. Now a lot of people are talking about him. A lot of people are talking about owners. But, Bill, you're responsible for what's going on. in terms of The team is not performing to what they should be performing to. I ain't saying they should be top four.

Speaker: but they shouldn't be where you guys for info sign like they Yeah, somewhere like that. We got seven points. Seven points from seven games. In terms of in terms of your general performance and the motivation of the team...

Speaker: It's up to you to get them going. like We can look at the owners. They failed. They didn't get you a left back. They didn't get you a backup striker. Bro, my bro, you've gotta get cooking.

Speaker: You've got to get cooking. Your team being outrun by Hull on the first day of the season. ah Well... That's you. That's nobody. There's nobody else. That's you, bro. So now you got belabor back Yeah?

Speaker: go and Go and get something cooking. go Go and get something cooking. Get them fit. get them Get them looking coherent. Get them looking... They need to be a lot more compact. He can influence that, bro.

Speaker: whether it's a mid block, low block, whatever. If you can't press high, go into a mid block. Like, you've got to fix those tactical things. If you're doing everything you can do tactically and you just don't have the quality to put the ball in the back of the net or your defender misses a header, that's not on you.

Speaker: But in terms of structural Bro, that's on him. So get cooking, bro. Okay, cooking. I think for me, like I have to piggyback off what you're saying because I was going to say like... Lissandra, Carrick, all of those things. But I feel like I've given United... um Uh,

Speaker: ah don't blame the ref already, but just to... like I'll agree with you with Carrick on that side. but For me... My reason is more stop being a coward, bro. Make the decisions you know you need to make. Dano doesn't need to play left back, bro. Take off Martinez. But who else? Take off Maguire and play Lenny Uro and then play a youngster at left back.

Speaker: Just start doing the things that make sense. Bruno Fernandes is out of form. If you're not going to drop him... Play him. Force 9 Or play him in midfield. And if it's not working, sub him.

Speaker: That's what you have to do. you All of this stuff where you're trying to pander to... the players on your team and trying to fit. Square pegs and round holes, guys. We have to move on as a team. Lenny Euro.

Speaker: He's doing okay right back. There's no need for him to do okay at right back because our two centre -backs are a wash. Just play him centre -back. unless Give him the minutes that he needs to show whether he can hang or can't hang. And I'm not saying that... I've been very critical of Lenny Uriah. I even said that at some point this season, that like he he needs to...

Speaker: buck up his ideas or he's going to get sold. Listen. Play him. Let's see if he's good or let's see if he's crap. Play Harry Amos. He's going to get a free run. It's not that I think he's good or I think he's crap. He's going to get a free run. Do you know why? Because Dano left back doesn't make sense. Aiden Heaven left back doesn't make sense. None of this makes sense.

Speaker: So just play it youngster there. He's going to run harder than ah everyone else. He's going to try his best. He's going to get up and down. He's going to keep it simple when he needs to keep it simple. That's it. I'm not asking them to pull up trees. Stop being a coward and just try.

Speaker: Try the basic stuff. That's it. just just before we end the pod yeah Did you see Dallo? Showing the leads play. Wait, quote to showing the leads play inside the pitch.

Speaker: he'd even do that right like ah took Did you see it? he Dano doesn't know what he's doing most of the time. Dalot doesn't this is my point Dalot is not smart enough to do anything other than play right back What makes you think he can play as a left back?

Speaker: on his weaker side. he's showing the guy so but it seemed it seemed like an intentional tactical decision possibly by the manager, but the way man was executing it. It was literally just letting him dribble. The guy dribbled into the box twice.

Speaker: Twice!

Speaker: anyway yeah it's just that that's all i've got to say man just just stop being a coward bro like let's just start doing sensible things bro and if bruno's gonna be a right wing guy and you end up dropping points again i'm not blaming bruno It's gone past blaming Bruno. It's gone past blaming individual players. You're doing stuff that doesn't make sense. so was All right. thank you very much for tuning in that's another episode of don't blame the left podcast Hey, man. we Chelsea on the up.

Speaker: you United on the down And ah long may it continue, man. I'm um um i'm happy where I am. The sun will shine in Manchester again. so Thanks for tuning in. Make sure you follow us on all the socials, man. Please, please, please.
