Die Frage, die mir jeder stellt. Die Antwort, die kaum jemand erwartet. - Ein ehrliches Gespräch über Business, Vertrauen und radikale Authentizität – mit Gill Moakes

Unfolding Space - Unboxing Lives mit Feng Shui

Transcript

Speaker: So oft, I think, we feel like we have to be the complete and utter expert in every aspect of what we do.

Speaker: And if we don't think we are, we'll shy away from sharing the things that we do know about that topic, because for fear that we're not giving someone the whole picture or that we're not...

Speaker: So, hi Jill, I'm so excited to have you on.

Speaker: I did just the introduction in German, as I said, for all my listeners.

Speaker: So, I'm so happy that you're here today.

Speaker: Thank you so much for taking time.

Speaker: Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker: Yeah, of course.

Speaker: So, as usually, I always let my guests introduce themselves.

Speaker: So, who are you, Jill, and what do you do?

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: Well, yeah, as I say, thank you so much for having me on the podcast, Daniela.

Speaker: It's an absolute pleasure.

Speaker: So I'm Jill Moakes.

Speaker: I'm based just outside London in the UK and I teach coaches how to grow impactful, profitable businesses.

Speaker: The background to that is that I grew my own coaching practice from zero to a flourishing six-figure coaching practice just with one-to-one clients.

Speaker: Und ich fand, dass viele andere Coaches gefragt haben, wie Sie das gemacht haben.

Speaker: Und sie waren über und überrascht, zu dem Punkt, dass ich etwas hier ist.

Speaker: Ich muss das jetzt einfach mal vorgehen.

Speaker: Ich muss das jetzt einfach was ich gemacht habe, um das zu tun.

Speaker: Und das war das dann, die Coaching Business Academy.

Speaker: So I still coach one-to-one with some clients, but I now focus on teaching coaches to grow their business.

Speaker: And I've just launched a membership as well, which is the collective where, again, it's coaches coming together and really building fabulous businesses.

Speaker: Oh, so viele.

Speaker: Es ist wahr, nicht wahr?

Speaker: Es ist wahr, wir sind in so einer Verbindung.

Speaker: Und ich liebe das.

Speaker: Und du hast du, was für ein paar Jahre alt ist, ich habe in dieser Gefühl, dass ich

Speaker: Who am I to teach this?

Speaker: I don't know everything there is to know about marketing.

Speaker: I don't know everything there is to know about brand, about creating a coaching offer.

Speaker: And I suddenly realized, actually, I don't need to know everything.

Speaker: People actually want to know what I did.

Speaker: So I just teach people what I did.

Speaker: I stay in my lane, teach people what I did.

Speaker: And that's what works for them.

Speaker: So if somebody is looking for the teaching behind our conversation, here's the first one.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: What you just shared.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Oh, my goodness.

Speaker: I'm so glad you zeroed in on that, because so often I think we feel like we have to be the complete and utter expert in every aspect of what we do.

Speaker: Ja.

Speaker: Absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker: And another thing which I really want to talk about is that you are sharing knowledge, and this is another synchronicity, but you are sharing the energy behind it.

Speaker: And when we talked about, we had a conversation last week, we really saw that there are, although feng shui is

Speaker: und ich bin in die Spazier, aber wir sind in der Energie, die wir sehr viel verändern.

Speaker: Und so, warum Sie uns ein bisschen über diese Synchronicity oder diese piece von Work, bitte?

Speaker: So, das ist ein Bereich, das in meinem Business hat, weil für ein paar Jahre,

Speaker: I was very focused on the masculine energy around strategy.

Speaker: What do you need to do?

Speaker: What's the next do this thing next strategy to get you to where you want to be?

Speaker: All of that kind of energetic alignment is what we... I worked with an amazing coach, Deborah Driscoll, actually, on this and doing this energetic alignment work.

Speaker: And it was like the missing piece of the puzzle for my business.

Speaker: So now the work I do, it brings both in, it embraces both.

Speaker: It's the do this thing next strategy.

Speaker: Everyone wants to know that.

Speaker: Everyone wants to know, you know, what do I actually need to do to attract the right clients, to create the right offers, to market them properly?

Speaker: You know, what do I actually need to do?

Speaker: But there is an element of who do you need to be to actually grow the business you want?

Speaker: And that's what we now bring together in the collective and the academy.

Speaker: I mean, I always say when my business is not working, like it should just from a feeling, I don't even touch my marketing strategy anymore because in my heart I know

Speaker: I know this is who I am.

Speaker: I mean, I know who I am and what I'm doing and all the things.

Speaker: I do turn into my space.

Speaker: This is what we also talked about.

Speaker: I just turn to my space.

Speaker: Like, where is the energy?

Speaker: What's happening here?

Speaker: You know, I'm looking for answers in the energy of my space.

Speaker: And then, of course, I mean, what you're sharing is looking into your energy.

Speaker: Like, where are you stuck in your... Maybe in your mindset, but I believe...

Speaker: Und jetzt, diese extra piece, diese andere piece, diese third thing around the space, es fühlt sich wie das war, das war eine missing piece für mich.

Speaker: So, ich bin so, wie interessiert ich in die Arbeit du machen.

Speaker: So, das ist wirklich interessant.

Speaker: Aber ich denke, es geht über Mindset.

Speaker: Ich denke, weil

Speaker: There is a lot around our mindset that we can choose and we can not choose in the way that we think about growing our business.

Speaker: But I think when we learn how to let go of consciously choosing and not choosing and allow ourselves to trust and become way more intuitive, that's actually way more powerful than the intentional, almost...

Speaker: What can be quite forced, it can feel a little forced when we're trying to adopt a certain mindset.

Speaker: You know, just repeating affirmations and trying to bully ourselves into having this particular mindset.

Speaker: That's not what it's all about for me.

Speaker: I think it's about letting go of that control, relinquishing the control and trusting in yourself and your intuition is the most powerful part.

Speaker: There is no way in hell I can make one million with the projects.

Speaker: I don't have the systems in place.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: So this is where both worlds are coming together.

Speaker: So affirmations work with the place.

Speaker: I don't know how to put it into words.

Speaker: It's just like this picture is coming up in front of my eyes and I'm just trying to put it into words.

Speaker: But it's not to be realistic.

Speaker: You have to dream.

Speaker: You have to visualize.

Speaker: You have to evolve or to grow.

Speaker: But then just.

Speaker: Could you say make it real or how would you explain this one?

Speaker: Yeah, I think I do understand the point you're making because I think...

Speaker: Wir können viel, wir können wirklich viel, und wir sollten viel viel.

Speaker: Es gibt auch viele Frauen auf diesem Planeten, die wir spielen klein und für alle die historischen Gründe, und wir wissen, warum das ist, aber auch viele Frauen sind immer noch viel.

Speaker: Wir sollten viel viel viel.

Speaker: Aber wir müssen viel, wir müssen viel,

Speaker: with our dreams.

Speaker: So the manifestation is really important.

Speaker: Affirmations are really supportive.

Speaker: All of those things are really important.

Speaker: Because I think that's the problem is that sometimes we struggle to put trust in outcomes because we don't feel safe.

Speaker: We feel like it's too risky.

Speaker: We'll be judged.

Speaker: We'll be, you know, whatever that is.

Speaker: But if the moment we start really trusting in alignment and in our own intuition, that's when everything changes.

Speaker: You're the source, Daniela.

Speaker: You're the source.

Speaker: Don't forget, you are the source.

Speaker: So no outsourcing to somebody telling you you're on the right track.

Speaker: No outsourcing your next revenue on the next client.

Speaker: It's all coming from you.

Speaker: And then the only true trend I would do around my space when I sense some insecurity or doubts or whatever comes up

Speaker: This is where I go to because then having a logical affirmation coming up when you are spiraling down, it's kind of not possible, right?

Speaker: Right, absolutely.

Speaker: And it's forced and it's not authentic.

Speaker: Yeah, and it's not helpful.

Speaker: No, no, not at all.

Speaker: And I also want to share one thought.

Speaker: Sometimes letting go of control means sitting still.

Speaker: Und nicht tun.

Speaker: Und sehr oft, ich denke, es ist wirklich schwierig.

Speaker: Ich bin nicht erreicht, oder das ist nicht funktionierend.

Speaker: Und jetzt bin ich supposed zu sitzen und zu tun, und zu tun, und zu trust.

Speaker: Wie soll ich das tun?

Speaker: Ich kann, von meinem Seite, sagen, ich bin zu deinem Space und take diese stuck Energie und

Speaker: Wander around your office, around your space, declutter, zen your space, like look if everything is in order, turn to your kitchen, turn to whatever area you want to, start changing things, even redecorating, whatever.

Speaker: But from your view, from your expertise, what would be the action somebody could take if they are in this mode of sit still and trust?

Speaker: Yeah, that's a great question.

Speaker: And I think to your point about moving around your space and making some changes and things, I think this, again, it's aligned.

Speaker: It's about changing the energy, isn't it?

Speaker: It's about movement.

Speaker: And what I would say is that you also made a really good point.

Speaker: Sometimes if we are feeling stuck, if we are feeling like

Speaker: Das ist nicht so wichtig.

Speaker: Wir leben in ein Welt, an der wir uns consume, all die Zeit.

Speaker: Wir consume so viel content.

Speaker: Wir consume so viele books, podcasts, videos und articles.

Speaker: Wir sind immer noch mehr zu machen, für eine Art und für eine quiete Zeit.

Speaker: So that you can listen.

Speaker: If you can't sit in silence and listen properly to what comes up for you, you're really going to struggle to tune into your intuition and to make aligned decisions based on your intuition.

Speaker: So one thing I would say is to get into a practice.

Speaker: Every business owner that I work with, it's one of the things that I say, let's get into a practice of silence, of listening in.

Speaker: What is coming up?

Speaker: You made such a good point.

Speaker: You are the source.

Speaker: Build relationships.

Speaker: Step away.

Speaker: Step away from the social media, from the craziness of online marketing and try and get into conversation with people.

Speaker: Go to an event.

Speaker: Find a way of actually interacting with people.

Speaker: Maybe like we are, you know, have conversations.

Speaker: You know, we've had a couple of lovely conversations now.

Speaker: And I think,

Speaker: I love that.

Speaker: I mean, another synchronicity, because I get asked this question very much.

Speaker: So how did you build this business?

Speaker: Or what would you advise for somebody who's starting?

Speaker: And my only answer is build relationships.

Speaker: That's it.

Speaker: There's nothing else.

Speaker: And in the time of internet and social media and with my Feng Shui school,

Speaker: Of course, there are many people who are not business owners, but they are wanting to build a business with Feng Shui.

Speaker: They would say, okay, how do I start go-to networking events?

Speaker: Oh, you don't mean a social media strategy?

Speaker: No, don't.

Speaker: Don't.

Speaker: Talk to people.

Speaker: AI can help you and support you in so many ways.

Speaker: So I always love to... Oh, God, I love ChatGPT.

Speaker: Don't get me wrong.

Speaker: Oh, I mean, me, I write so much and so fast that I have so many typos and grammar and all this stuff.

Speaker: And I get stuck on proofreading things and waiting for a system to proofread it.

Speaker: So proofreading, oh, my God, yes.

Speaker: So good.

Speaker: Having more content out, writing more emails, only because now it's faster, I prompt at GPD and say, write something about, I don't know, feng shui.

Speaker: And, oh no, no, no, this is not where it's going.

Speaker: As you said, it's really about still feeling this person behind me.

Speaker: die copy, die ist geschrieben.

Speaker: Ich denke, das ist die key.

Speaker: Ich habe eine Frau von Books geschrieben.

Speaker: Die Frau war die mir durch die Prozess, sie immer gesagt hat, Daniela, wenn die Leute in den Büchern hören wollen, sie wollen sie sprechen.

Speaker: Wenn sie zu einem Sprache gehen und sie hören wollen, sie wollen sie die gleiche voice hören.

Speaker: Absolutely, there can't be a disconnect No, no

Speaker: I don't lose myself in the trend.

Speaker: So, I mean, to everybody who's listening, you're listening to two very successful business owners.

Speaker: And we are really giving you gold.

Speaker: We are taking you behind the curtain to share with you

Speaker: wie wir sehen, wie wir nicht nur mit unseren Kunden arbeiten, aber wie wir, was ist die richtige Wort?

Speaker: Was ist behind unsere Believes, behind unsere Business, unsere Truth?

Speaker: Ja, unsere Ethos, ich glaube.

Speaker: Ja.

Speaker: Oh, danke.

Speaker: Das ist die richtige Wort.

Speaker: So, oh, hier, da ist so viel gold in this, in this conversation.

Speaker: Und, du, du, ich liebe, dass du gesagt hast, weil

Speaker: You're so right that what we're telling here is the truth.

Speaker: And I think that there is a big lack of truth around at the moment.

Speaker: Everyone wants the hack.

Speaker: They want the easy way.

Speaker: They want the passive way.

Speaker: They want the automatically automated everything.

Speaker: And the truth is that if you're committed to bringing that full fat vision of your business to life...

Speaker: It's about legwork.

Speaker: It's about really building relationships, taking the time, being generous with your time, having genuine conversation.

Speaker: It's not about shortcuts.

Speaker: No, no, absolutely not.

Speaker: And yeah, I think it's really, really interesting.

Speaker: Also, when, I mean, we talked about this last week, my content went viral in the English, but now it's starting in the German world.

Speaker: As well.

Speaker: Love it.

Speaker: Thank you.

Speaker: And, you know, I had a podcast episode and also a newsletter talking about this overnight success and really talking about that there is no overnight success.

Speaker: So there is no hack or fast line or the one hook who made this reel go viral, which had now over 5 million views.

Speaker: Honestly, when I look back, it's more than six months.

Speaker: Hard work and investment of time and money to have this happen.

Speaker: So not giving up.

Speaker: And it was always, there was no proof that what Liz and me were doing would work.

Speaker: But we both knew it will.

Speaker: We only didn't know when.

Speaker: But the when is not our thing to know, right?

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: You can't know that.

Speaker: But you know what?

Speaker: You trusted it.

Speaker: And this is where I think most people, when we hear those stats around, you know, most businesses don't work out or most businesses don't fail after X number of years, I believe there is one reason for that.

Speaker: And that is that most people don't have the grit to keep going long enough to see the results that they want.

Speaker: They want the immediate results.

Speaker: They don't want to work for six months.

Speaker: I mean, your fellow podcaster, my podcast, Teds Together, when I started that, literally, I think I had...

Speaker: Ich habe auf jeden Fall 12 downloads a week für den ersten sechs Monaten.

Speaker: Es war so, so depressing.

Speaker: Aber ich kept going.

Speaker: Ich wusste, dass das die richtige Plattform für mich war.

Speaker: Und ich denke, das ist das was die Zukunft der Zukunft der Betriebsfähigkeit.

Speaker: Das ist das ihre Trust ist größer als ihre Inpatience.

Speaker: Oh, their trust is bigger than their impatience.

Speaker: I love this.

Speaker: That's a quote.

Speaker: That's a quote right there.

Speaker: Let me quickly scribble that one down and use that for a moment.

Speaker: Yes, please go ahead.

Speaker: But it's true, right?

Speaker: Their trust is bigger than their impatience.

Speaker: And...

Speaker: Das Grit zu gehen, ohne dass das immediate, das instant gratification des Ergebnisses, das ist das secret.

Speaker: Und das ist das viele Leute, die nicht haben.

Speaker: Ja, und ich meine, da sind zwei books, die haben mich komplett verändert, und meine view auf business und all die Themen, die wir jetzt sprechen.

Speaker: Die eine ist The Slight Edge.

Speaker: And the other one is The One Thing.

Speaker: So Jeff Olson.

Speaker: The One Thing.

Speaker: I've just finished that book.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Great book.

Speaker: But The Slight Patch by Jeff Olson.

Speaker: I mean, this book is amazing.

Speaker: Absolutely right.

Speaker: And to people looking on, it's like, and it's like sick, it's sick, cyclical, because then the people looking on are like, how did she just become that over?

Speaker: How did she get that viral reel?

Speaker: Oh my God, she's an overnight success.

Speaker: And no one sees everything that went before that.

Speaker: And, and it, because it is such a blind trust, because you're not seeing the results at the beginning.

Speaker: Years ago, you had this little knob you needed to turn, turn, turn and switch this frequency so you can hear the radio station you want to hear.

Speaker: And the silence in between is that you don't know what's happening.

Speaker: So you're leaving one radio station.

Speaker: Changing your mindset, doing something in your space, all the work.

Speaker: And then you are in the doing and you're turning the knob and you don't hear anything.

Speaker: You just know that there is another frequency.

Speaker: And when you hit the frequency, you will hear the music.

Speaker: And this is, you know.

Speaker: Oh, what a brilliant metaphor.

Speaker: I love that metaphor.

Speaker: So, wir haben eine Roadmap Kurkulierung, die Mitgliedern zusammenarbeitet, und es gibt alles, die Personal Branden, die Coaching-Offersen,

Speaker: Wir haben das, aber wir haben, in der Köln, die Sanctuary, die in der Köln sind, die wirklich die mehr spirituale Arbeit, die inner Arbeit, die ich so sehr wichtig bin.

Speaker: um, to growing your business.

Speaker: So we have that balance of strategy and then the, the more kind of soul, um, and inner work.

Speaker: So, yeah, that's the collective.

Speaker: That's the kind of entry point.

Speaker: We also have the academy, which is a more intense six-month container where people will come and they have a weekly call group, a very intimate group call where I'm walking them through that strategy to build their coaching practice too.

Speaker: So, yeah.

Speaker: Anyone who wants to check that out, it is at jillmokes.com forward slash collective for the collective and forward slash academy for the academy.

Speaker: And we will, of course, link everything in the show notes.

Speaker: Thank you.
