Introduction to Solopreneurs

00:00:00
Speaker
What do you call an underground group of solar professionals on a mission to create a more sustainable world?
00:00:05
Speaker
We call ourselves solopreneurs.
00:00:08
Speaker
And while some might call us crazy, foolish, and dissatisfied with the status quo, we're the ones taking action to create a better future for ourselves and the world.
00:00:17
Speaker
Solopreneur is dedicated to give you, the solar professional, the tools, skills, technology, and mentorship to take the industry by storm and sell more solar with less effort.
00:00:30
Speaker
We are solopreneurs and this is our story.

Meet Brad Morinson

00:00:41
Speaker
What's up, what's up, solopreneurs back with another episode today and we have got a killer guest on and I'm excited about it because he is using technology in a way that's as far as I know hasn't been used in the door-to-door industry so he's
00:00:57
Speaker
pretty much the perfect guest to come on the show because that's what we're all about in the solopreneur movement is getting people utilizing not just knocking doors but technology and any other resource we have available to us so today we got uh brad morinson on the show thanks for coming on brad awesome man thanks for having me appreciate it definitely um and i forgot to ask you i know bradley but do you like to go by brad or bradley better you don't care
00:01:27
Speaker
Brad's fine, yeah.
00:01:28
Speaker
Okay.
00:01:29
Speaker
My mom calls me Bradley, but everyone in business seems to call me Brad, so I just roll with it.
00:01:34
Speaker
Okay, sounds good.
00:01:36
Speaker
I'll make sure I wasn't making you mad the whole show.
00:01:40
Speaker
Get off the show, you're like, I hate this guy.
00:01:41
Speaker
Called me Brad the whole time.
00:01:43
Speaker
Couldn't possibly offend me.

What is RepCard?

00:01:46
Speaker
But yeah, I first heard about Brad from Door to Door Con.
00:01:50
Speaker
He had a booth set up there and...
00:01:53
Speaker
I'm not sure.
00:01:53
Speaker
I might admit you there.
00:01:54
Speaker
I don't know.
00:01:55
Speaker
But I definitely talked to whoever your guys were at the booth.
00:01:58
Speaker
And you told me about the software, which is RepCard, which I'll let you explain more here in a minute.
00:02:06
Speaker
But I'll give just kind of a brief overview of what it is.
00:02:09
Speaker
But basically, it's a software that lets you send digital business cards.
00:02:15
Speaker
And that's the gist of it.
00:02:16
Speaker
But I know there's way more features than that.
00:02:19
Speaker
You can send out these digital business cards.
00:02:21
Speaker
You can track who's opening them.
00:02:24
Speaker
You can even set up like a Facebook pixel.
00:02:26
Speaker
So people, you can basically retarget customers or potential customers that have looked at your business card.
00:02:33
Speaker
And it's just way more effective.
00:02:35
Speaker
I think it's exactly what the industry needs, especially right now during COVID.
00:02:40
Speaker
Like, I mean,
00:02:43
Speaker
I mean, if you're not using this during COVID, I think you're crazy, but we'll talk more about that in a minute.

Brad's Sales Journey

00:02:48
Speaker
But yeah, so we'll get into it here.
00:02:50
Speaker
But Brad, do you want to tell us first kind of your background in door to door, how you got into it, and then we'll kind of talk about your software and everything after that.
00:02:59
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, let's do it.
00:03:01
Speaker
So I started door to door in 2010.
00:03:06
Speaker
I, at the time,
00:03:12
Speaker
I was a dating girl and I just wanted to get away.
00:03:16
Speaker
I needed to get away from her.
00:03:18
Speaker
Um, she's now my wife, but, uh, at the time I was, I got to get out of here.
00:03:21
Speaker
So I had a buddy that was going to Texas and I didn't really care what it was about.
00:03:28
Speaker
I was just like, man, how do I, how do I get out of the state and go work?
00:03:32
Speaker
And so he was a good guy.
00:03:33
Speaker
So I went out with him and ended up having, you know, a decent summer.
00:03:37
Speaker
I think I sold around 190 accounts.
00:03:41
Speaker
And, and, uh, had a good time.
00:03:44
Speaker
And so with going out, just with the idea, just to get away from, you know, this girl, I was like, man, this, this was cool.
00:03:51
Speaker
I was able to like work hard and make more money versus like punching the clock.
00:03:55
Speaker
And I just fell in love with that cycle of you work hard, the harder you work, the more money you get paid type of thing.
00:04:01
Speaker
So came home from that summer and, uh, ended up getting into satellite TV sales, not too long after that, and was in that industry for five or six years.
00:04:10
Speaker
And then, uh, was in pest control for another four years after that.
00:04:13
Speaker
So, um, you know, so, so yeah, it was a wild ride, but, but it was amazing.
00:04:22
Speaker
I mean, I think every young person should get into door to door for a summer or for a short period of time to learn all that comes with it.
00:04:32
Speaker
So I got to ask, um, you said you're getting away from this girl.
00:04:37
Speaker
Was it because she wanted to like get married or something and you weren't ready or you obviously married her?
00:04:43
Speaker
Yeah, a lot of pressure to get married and we were young.
00:04:46
Speaker
You know, I was 21, she was 18 and it was just, yeah, a lot of pressure.
00:04:52
Speaker
So I'm like, man, like that's the ultimate like, like sale right there is closing the deal and getting married.
00:04:59
Speaker
So I just didn't know, I wanted to,
00:05:03
Speaker
to be, you know, do like long distance thing for a short time.
00:05:06
Speaker
So this like three to four months, summer sales thing sounded perfect.
00:05:09
Speaker
I'm like, sweet.
00:05:10
Speaker
Like she can maybe come visit me, but like I can get away.
00:05:13
Speaker
And like, so ended up working out perfect.
00:05:16
Speaker
She came out a few times during the summer and, um, I came home for just a day.
00:05:22
Speaker
I came home for one, one Sunday.
00:05:24
Speaker
I had, I had a good friend that was going on a mission for his church and I came home to, to kind of wish him well.
00:05:29
Speaker
And, um,
00:05:31
Speaker
And I went back and I remember that first coming back, man, it was like, I felt like I had never knocked a door.
00:05:37
Speaker
So it was like, I'm never taking a break again.
00:05:41
Speaker
Like once you're in this home, like you don't change anything.
00:05:44
Speaker
You just keep going.
00:05:45
Speaker
Yeah, that's funny.
00:05:46
Speaker
The reason I ask about the girls, because that's pretty much my exact

Origin of RepCard

00:05:50
Speaker
same story.
00:05:50
Speaker
Yeah.
00:05:52
Speaker
My wife, too.
00:05:53
Speaker
When I first came out, started doing solar.
00:05:55
Speaker
She, yeah, I mean, she was kind of putting the pressure on.
00:05:58
Speaker
We'd been dating a little bit.
00:06:00
Speaker
I say a little bit, but in Utah, like, you know, two, three months is like already a little bit.
00:06:06
Speaker
People are getting married and stuff.
00:06:09
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, I was getting that pressure and I'm like, well, freak, I don't know.
00:06:13
Speaker
I don't want to like commit right now because she was wanting to like get engaged before I left for the summer.
00:06:17
Speaker
I'm like, yeah, you know what?
00:06:19
Speaker
I'm just going to go out for the summer and if I still like
00:06:23
Speaker
think that I want to marry this girl after a full summer being apart then sweet let's do it but if I get out and take a break and it's not what I thought then then uh then yeah go from there so that's yeah you're like that's the sign that's fine the same logic I use so yeah hilarious I know because like when you're together yeah you're just you know making out and stuff and everything's good but it's like man if I'm if I'm away from this girl am I still gonna like
00:06:50
Speaker
want her in like a couple months so oh dude that's funny so yeah it's funny it sounds like it yeah it sounds like it's not just me that did that yeah i know
00:07:04
Speaker
That's funny, man.
00:07:05
Speaker
Well, cool.
00:07:07
Speaker
No, it's good to hear.
00:07:08
Speaker
And that's why I love this software you develop so much because you've actually like been in the industry.
00:07:14
Speaker
You know what it's like to go door to door.
00:07:17
Speaker
There's a lot of softwares out there where it's guys that aren't even like, you know, haven't even been in door to door.
00:07:23
Speaker
They don't know what it's like, but you have that firsthand experience.
00:07:25
Speaker
You know what reps need, you know, what's happening on the doors.
00:07:29
Speaker
I think that gives you just, you know, the,
00:07:33
Speaker
gives you that power to say hey look I've been out there I know what's going on.
00:07:37
Speaker
But yeah I want to hear how did you kind of like get started in this?
00:07:40
Speaker
How did you come up with the idea for RepCard?
00:07:43
Speaker
And I think you started using it with just your team first maybe but how did that kind of come to fruition?
00:07:49
Speaker
Yeah so after that first summer I got into satellite and about a year later I ended up becoming a part owner of that company.
00:08:00
Speaker
And so
00:08:01
Speaker
I quickly started leading a team and leading other sales reps.
00:08:05
Speaker
And, you know, you spend a lot of time picking area and going to area and maybe the cops get called because a rookie does something stupid or, you know, you got parents in the neighborhood or, you know, and so, or maybe you just move area.
00:08:17
Speaker
Maybe half the team wants to go back to their old area or whatever.
00:08:20
Speaker
There's all these different reasons.
00:08:21
Speaker
So that was kind of the first thing I'm like, we're spending all this time finding good area and then guys want to move or, but you drive in car groups.
00:08:28
Speaker
And so everyone's area was just,
00:08:31
Speaker
you leave it behind and you just, that was it.
00:08:33
Speaker
Like you had go backs or callbacks or people to go visit people that were going out of town for the weekend and didn't have a minute, you know, and, and so you just left everything.
00:08:43
Speaker
And it's like, you just were gone and all that momentum, all of that time that you spent not closing, you could have been closing.
00:08:49
Speaker
And so I'm like, how do you recapture that time?
00:08:52
Speaker
You know, you'd hand out business cards, never get a phone call.
00:08:55
Speaker
And so I always thought, man, it'd be cool to send my card, you know, as a text message.
00:09:00
Speaker
And then, you know, be notified when they open it.
00:09:03
Speaker
It just started out kind of something just basic and a way to recapture the pain of just moving area and just losing all that momentum.
00:09:12
Speaker
Because as a rep, I was, I'm very, I'd like to say I'm very organized and kind of OCD.
00:09:18
Speaker
And so I'd make good notes and really take advantage of like each conversation.
00:09:22
Speaker
And then when you'd move area, it was like,
00:09:24
Speaker
I felt like I lost more than maybe the next guy who's just organized and just like, was just like, you know, bouncing across the street, you know, not really tracking hood.
00:09:33
Speaker
Yeah.
00:09:34
Speaker
And so, um, that was kind of the beginning of it.
00:09:37
Speaker
I just started to make notes.
00:09:38
Speaker
I opened up just a note on my iPhone and I just started to make like these notes of things that I would want in this idea.
00:09:43
Speaker
And it just kind of sat there for like three or four years or probably longer.
00:09:49
Speaker
Uh, and then the summer of 2016 or 17,
00:09:53
Speaker
I was traveling a lot, visiting, um, some sales teams.
00:09:56
Speaker
And so I'd be in the air a lot.
00:09:58
Speaker
I, I don't like to get the internet when I'm in there.
00:10:00
Speaker
I like to take the time to just do stuff without the internet, you know?
00:10:04
Speaker
And so I'd, I'd be sitting there.
00:10:06
Speaker
And so I opened up some of my notes app and I saw the list of, of this idea.
00:10:10
Speaker
And I, so I, over the course of the next few flights, I just made this massive list of like all of these features and all of these things that I think I would want in this application as a, as a door to door rep.
00:10:22
Speaker
Um,

RepCard Features

00:10:23
Speaker
And then from there I taught myself how to learn how to do Adobe XD, which is a software to help you build prototypes for applications.
00:10:31
Speaker
And so I just taught myself how to, how to make this prototype and I built out this whole application and I started showing it to some of the guys I worked with and other friends in door to door.
00:10:41
Speaker
And, and then I had one of them that was just like, you can't not do this.
00:10:45
Speaker
Like I would pay, you know, 10 bucks a month or something like this.
00:10:49
Speaker
And I was like,
00:10:51
Speaker
He kind of pushed me, just like, you've got to do this.
00:10:53
Speaker
And so from there, I just started to, you know, put together a dev team.
00:10:58
Speaker
And, you know, there's a lot that goes into it.
00:10:59
Speaker
But from there, I just started putting it all together.
00:11:02
Speaker
Yeah, incredible.
00:11:05
Speaker
And how many users do you have now?
00:11:08
Speaker
We've got right about 10,000 users.
00:11:10
Speaker
10,000, wow.
00:11:13
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:14
Speaker
For door to door, that's, I don't know, I guess I don't know how many door knockers there, but that seems like a huge chunk of the industry, I would guess.
00:11:22
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:23
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:23
Speaker
The industry is a lot bigger than I thought, but it's, you know, we also have, you know, people in real estate, insurance sales, car sales.
00:11:31
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:32
Speaker
Had a company sign up the other day that, that does, you know, they do hail damage for, for cars, you know, door to door, like some of the most random industries,
00:11:42
Speaker
that I didn't even know existed have reached out.
00:11:44
Speaker
And so we have a lot of clientele from all different types of industries.
00:11:48
Speaker
And of course we've got, you know, some big companies like Powerhome Solar and Ion and Brings Home Security and things like that.
00:11:56
Speaker
So.
00:11:57
Speaker
Yeah, that's incredible.
00:11:58
Speaker
And yeah, I mean, there's lots of people doing it.
00:12:01
Speaker
I mean, we just said,
00:12:03
Speaker
a couple of solar guys I met the other day, they're using just kind of like the prehistoric version of that.
00:12:08
Speaker
They text out just like their contact card.
00:12:10
Speaker
So some people are doing it and don't even know about rep card, but it's like, you guys just make it so easy.
00:12:17
Speaker
And especially for door knockers, most, at least in my experience, most people on door to door don't really like get too much into like online marketing or anything.
00:12:28
Speaker
It's just like, no, we're just going to go hit the doors.
00:12:31
Speaker
We don't need a follow up.
00:12:32
Speaker
And I know that's how I was in pest control for two years is like, if I don't get the cell, then I'm never going to talk to these people again.
00:12:39
Speaker
Right.
00:12:40
Speaker
This market is not interested on, on cells or have it or whatever.
00:12:45
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, as I've learned more and especially doing this podcast and everything, it's like the fortunes and the follow up and the reps that know how to do that, they're going to get those cells that are tougher to get.
00:12:57
Speaker
They're going to get the people that are behind gates.
00:12:59
Speaker
And this just makes it so easy.
00:13:01
Speaker
You don't have to go launch online ads.
00:13:02
Speaker
You don't have to go hire people to go do the follow-up.
00:13:06
Speaker
Just do it directly from the app.
00:13:08
Speaker
So that's where I think it's super powerful.
00:13:10
Speaker
We've got people in door-to-door that have never done any type of online marketing.
00:13:14
Speaker
They haven't done follow-up before.
00:13:15
Speaker
This is literally, I think, the easiest way to do it.
00:13:19
Speaker
It just stores it all for you.
00:13:20
Speaker
And that's your solution all in one.
00:13:24
Speaker
So I know I kind of went over a few of the features, but can you go over just if you're, let's say you're trying to pitch your software.
00:13:30
Speaker
I know I did kind of a crappy job there at the beginning, but you did great.
00:13:35
Speaker
Is there anything you can add to that and maybe any features you've seen that have been super powerful for, for people using your software?
00:13:42
Speaker
Yeah.
00:13:42
Speaker
So the followup is definitely a big part of, of, um,
00:13:48
Speaker
the application and it's a great way to take advantage of every interaction.
00:13:51
Speaker
That's kind of our motto is like take advantage of every interaction.
00:13:55
Speaker
All that time before you spend talking with, you know, Mr. Jones, who, super cool guy, but he's, he's packed enough to go to a son's base tournament and he's going to be gone for the weekend.
00:14:05
Speaker
And so you send him your, your original card.
00:14:09
Speaker
And when you send the card, let's say you were selling a
00:14:14
Speaker
you know, if you're selling solar, you talk to him about a battery or you talk to him about, you know, the warranty on the panels because he had, you know, I talked to someone before, you know, whatever is kind of his thing or whatever you guys talked about, you can have a certain video that pertains to that feature of solar.
00:14:33
Speaker
And so you could send that certain video.
00:14:35
Speaker
You could have a certain button as well, a call to action you could add where he could upload his utility bill.
00:14:41
Speaker
You know, you can you can customize the card to that specific conversation.
00:14:46
Speaker
So that's something we've added over the last six months where you don't just send your information, but you're sending like a custom business card.
00:14:52
Speaker
And then from there, you have that all taken.
00:14:55
Speaker
And that way you can automatically follow up with him.
00:14:59
Speaker
Or you could schedule just like a one time text message.
00:15:03
Speaker
So if you said, hey, I'm going to be home next Tuesday.
00:15:07
Speaker
you know, let's touch base then, you know, I'll be back in my office and I'll have some time to talk solar or, you know, you could walk away from him sending him your card and then you could go and schedule just a one-time text for next Tuesday at like 2 p.m.
00:15:20
Speaker
So you may not put him into a full campaign, but you could do that or you could, of course, set a reminder right in the application and it will pull open his account when you swipe open that notification.
00:15:31
Speaker
So, you know,
00:15:32
Speaker
you have these interactions, you spend time, you feel like you did a good job with your pitch.
00:15:36
Speaker
And, you know, in door to door, you're popping into people's worlds at the most random time.
00:15:41
Speaker
And so the goal is to lock it down.
00:15:45
Speaker
And I understand the pest control way of just like, if I get them, great.
00:15:49
Speaker
If I don't, like I'm on to the next.
00:15:51
Speaker
something like solar like it's a it's a big decision for these people um you try to make it as simple as possible but at the end of the day you know 20 25 year loan they need to you know sometimes catch them at a different time and when they're backing out of the driveway that's maybe not the best time to pitch solar real quick you know i've i used to close a control deal driveway you'd hand the binder through the window and boom they're done it's like cool but solar obviously you're not doing that so that's a perfect time um
00:16:19
Speaker
I remember times being in line to get ice cream and people would ask, you know, I'd be wearing a solar shirt or test control or whatever.
00:16:27
Speaker
And, and I'd fire off the card.
00:16:29
Speaker
They'd ask like, Oh, what do you do for work?
00:16:31
Speaker
Or, you know, one guy brought it up on time.
00:16:32
Speaker
He's like, Oh, solar.
00:16:33
Speaker
He's like, I looked into solar.
00:16:34
Speaker
I'm like, Oh yeah.
00:16:36
Speaker
You know, you just send off your card.
00:16:39
Speaker
And then a week later you're doing a proposal for them.
00:16:42
Speaker
Yeah, I know.
00:16:43
Speaker
Yeah.
00:16:44
Speaker
That's what's cool.
00:16:45
Speaker
And I mean,
00:16:46
Speaker
Yeah, what is it, the paid version?
00:16:49
Speaker
I think you said it's what, 12 a month or something like that?
00:16:51
Speaker
Yeah, the paid version for just a single user is $15 a month, and then it's two cents for any of the automated messages.
00:16:58
Speaker
Okay.
00:16:59
Speaker
Yeah, so especially in solar, I mean, you do the math on that.
00:17:02
Speaker
If this software only got you one extra cell, like most people in solar should be making a couple grand off a cell.
00:17:11
Speaker
So you're looking at spending, was that 15 times 12 is what, 170 bucks, something like that, 180?
00:17:18
Speaker
Yeah.
00:17:20
Speaker
Yeah.
00:17:20
Speaker
So, you know, if you pay for the year, it's 129 bucks.
00:17:23
Speaker
I mean, so if you do that, I mean, you've got a hundred months.
00:17:27
Speaker
So, um, that at least, um, if I'm doing the math, right.
00:17:32
Speaker
Or no, that'd be 10, that'd be 20 months.
00:17:34
Speaker
Sorry.
00:17:35
Speaker
No, at 10.
00:17:36
Speaker
Yeah.
00:17:37
Speaker
So it'd be a hundred months.
00:17:39
Speaker
Yeah.
00:17:39
Speaker
Oh, um, you know, you could go all year and not get one and get one at the end of the year, but,
00:17:44
Speaker
You know, to give a quick example, we had a solar rep that was using it.
00:17:49
Speaker
He talked to a guy, the guy had bad credit because he'd just gone through a divorce.
00:17:52
Speaker
So he went through the pitch and was like, let's just see if you qualify.
00:17:55
Speaker
You know, I know your credit was just hit, divorce and everything.

Impact Across Industries

00:17:58
Speaker
The guy normally had good credit, but it just had been hit.
00:18:01
Speaker
I think in solar, it's like 650 you have to have or something.
00:18:04
Speaker
So the guy was just under that.
00:18:05
Speaker
So the rep sent him his rep card, said, hey, I'm going to follow up with you.
00:18:10
Speaker
And the six month, he had a six month text message scheduled.
00:18:15
Speaker
So the six month message goes out.
00:18:17
Speaker
I reached back.
00:18:18
Speaker
Hey man, I think I'm ready.
00:18:19
Speaker
My credits, my credits, you know, been repaired or, you know, back up.
00:18:23
Speaker
And so he scheduled time went over and he closed the guy down.
00:18:26
Speaker
And when he told me the story, he was just laughing because he's like, you know, Brad, if I didn't have that go out and he didn't text me,
00:18:33
Speaker
He goes, the next rep to knock his door would have gotten like the most golden laydown ever.
00:18:38
Speaker
And that's when guys are walking away like, dude, I had a lay, I got a lay down today.
00:18:41
Speaker
And like, he's like, I did, I did all the work.
00:18:44
Speaker
Like I farmed the deal.
00:18:46
Speaker
I, I pitched him, got him on the same page.
00:18:48
Speaker
Like the meeting of the mines was there.
00:18:50
Speaker
It's just his credit had just been rocked a little bit from his divorce.
00:18:54
Speaker
But through rep card, I was able to just kind of set it and forget it.
00:18:57
Speaker
And it brought me back that deal.
00:18:59
Speaker
And, uh, you know, so I asked him like, so what's rep card worth to you?
00:19:03
Speaker
And he's just like, I'll never not have it again.
00:19:06
Speaker
You know, that just paid for, you know, for his, you know, that just paid for, you know, the next 400 months or whatever it was.
00:19:13
Speaker
So it's like, it's a, especially in solar, I mean, uh, it's such a, such a, an easy way to make, um, an extra deal.
00:19:24
Speaker
Yeah, 100%.
00:19:25
Speaker
And in solar, well, being in solar, there's nothing more frustrating than going back to an area that I was in six months ago and seeing four or five people that had appointments that now have solar on their roof.
00:19:36
Speaker
But it wasn't from me, it's from another company.
00:19:39
Speaker
It's like, no, that's like the biggest, yeah, probably the biggest frustration because that's exactly what happens.
00:19:46
Speaker
Someone else went and they knocked on their door and
00:19:49
Speaker
You got them thinking about it.
00:19:50
Speaker
You gave them all the information and now someone else just reaps that, you know, reap that whole process from you and took the sale.
00:19:58
Speaker
Exactly.
00:19:58
Speaker
Yeah.
00:19:59
Speaker
And if you're, if you're a user of rep card right now, or you're thinking about getting it and you come into a little bit of frustration building your campaigns, you know, maybe you're not the most what's the word?
00:20:10
Speaker
Like, you know, it's hard for you to put together the words to say like we're, we're coming out with templates.
00:20:19
Speaker
And the application.
00:20:20
Speaker
So you'll have templates of what other people are doing.
00:20:24
Speaker
I'm kind of a community feel where, you know, someone's doing really good with a campaign or something.
00:20:29
Speaker
They could make it public where people could share it and we'll write, we'll write campaigns as rep card and put those out.
00:20:35
Speaker
So that you jump into your account and you could day one, just boom, just bring over a few templates and tweak those if you want, or make them, you know, custom to your area.
00:20:45
Speaker
Maybe if you're in, I don't know,
00:20:47
Speaker
seems like solar has a lot of different variations to it.
00:20:49
Speaker
So like if you're in California, it's different than Texas or the East coast, maybe the utilities are different.
00:20:55
Speaker
So, you know, you tweak the campaign to kind of what's going on in your neck of the woods, but, um, that's, that's something that's coming, um, you know, in the next two to three months.
00:21:04
Speaker
So yeah, a little bit of momentum there.
00:21:07
Speaker
If you're not that guy that wants to sit down and write your own custom campaigns.
00:21:11
Speaker
Okay.
00:21:11
Speaker
Yeah.
00:21:12
Speaker
It's super helpful.
00:21:13
Speaker
And do you have, um,
00:21:15
Speaker
Is there a feature where you can like add, cause I have like all these, you know, the two years that two, three years that I wasn't using rep card.
00:21:23
Speaker
I have all my customers, all my contacts that I was just, you know, sending manually like a spreadsheet, stuff like that.
00:21:31
Speaker
So there's no, there are way to import contacts in the rep card and just have them all there.
00:21:35
Speaker
And then yeah, like kind of different lists or anything like that.
00:21:39
Speaker
Yeah.
00:21:39
Speaker
Once you build your account, you can go to rep card.com and log in.
00:21:42
Speaker
It's an extension of the application.
00:21:45
Speaker
And there's the web app version where you can do a bunch of other things.
00:21:50
Speaker
A lot of it coincides with the app.
00:21:51
Speaker
So it's just things you can edit on both the app and the back office.
00:21:56
Speaker
But if you go there, that's one of the things you can do on the back office is import your list.
00:22:00
Speaker
Okay.
00:22:01
Speaker
That's awesome.
00:22:02
Speaker
Yeah.
00:22:02
Speaker
And what's awesome.
00:22:04
Speaker
I'm working with a dealer right now and we have actually teams of people set up that are basically, it's basically five or six people that are trying to do what RipCard already does.
00:22:14
Speaker
So it's crazy.
00:22:15
Speaker
Cause like, we know we have all these assistants we have from like the Philippines.
00:22:20
Speaker
They're doing pretty much exactly this, getting the contact and they're following up with people, but rep card just makes it all these people that, um, are doing this.
00:22:30
Speaker
It's like, you can literally do it from the, from your phone, click of the button.
00:22:34
Speaker
Don't have to have a team or anything.
00:22:36
Speaker
I think it's awesome.
00:22:37
Speaker
Just cut out the middleman and you can have it all organized.
00:22:41
Speaker
You can just have it go out automatically.
00:22:43
Speaker
And for those that are just getting started in, I don't know, this type of technology or marketing like this campaign is just where you can set up like,
00:22:52
Speaker
automated responses to go out to a customer.
00:22:55
Speaker
So for example, it's like if I book an appointment tomorrow, it's a six o'clock.
00:23:00
Speaker
I have them in rep card.
00:23:02
Speaker
Then you can set out, you can pick that campaign, like the appointment reminder or the pre appointments campaign.
00:23:09
Speaker
And then you can have, Hey, here's our website.
00:23:13
Speaker
Go out.
00:23:13
Speaker
You can have here.
00:23:14
Speaker
I don't know, just whatever you want to do, kind of program it to go out.
00:23:18
Speaker
And then you can,
00:23:21
Speaker
Is there a limit to how many campaigns you can create, Brad, or is it pretty much whatever you want?
00:23:25
Speaker
No, yeah, it's unlimited for the premium users to create as many campaigns as you want.
00:23:29
Speaker
It can be as long or short as you want.
00:23:31
Speaker
Obviously, the customer can opt out if they want to.
00:23:33
Speaker
Okay.
00:23:36
Speaker
But you have that ability to create whatever campaigns you want.
00:23:40
Speaker
So, you know, one good one to think of is...
00:23:43
Speaker
through our application, you can receive reviews.
00:23:46
Speaker
So when people leave a review for you, if you're a company on our platform, those reviews can also go to like Facebook and Google, so you can be generating those.
00:23:53
Speaker
But when they leave a review, you have the ability to edit, and we give a good default message, but after five minutes of receiving a four or five star review, it automatically will text the homeowner and say, hey, thank you for your kind review.
00:24:09
Speaker
My goal is to meet and exceed your expectations.
00:24:11
Speaker
I would love to work with any of your neighbors, friends, or family.
00:24:15
Speaker
Below is a link for you to leave any referrals.
00:24:18
Speaker
Thanks in advance.
00:24:20
Speaker
So there's not a better time to ask for referrals than right after they give you a four or a five-star review.
00:24:26
Speaker
And so we automate that for you.
00:24:30
Speaker
So you're not having to send off that text five minutes later.
00:24:36
Speaker
It's already done, and you get to dictate what that says.
00:24:40
Speaker
You all get what it says for one to three star review.
00:24:43
Speaker
If you get a bad review or lower review, you could let them know, Hey, I apologize.
00:24:46
Speaker
I wasn't able to meet your expectations.
00:24:49
Speaker
What could I have done better?
00:24:51
Speaker
Can you provide me any feedback and things like that?
00:24:54
Speaker
And so what you can do is build a simple basic campaign that just says, you know, after you sell someone or maybe after they get installed, you send them your card with that campaign.
00:25:03
Speaker
And now, you know, you can have it go through four occurrences.
00:25:08
Speaker
So you can do all different kinds of ways to end it, but you could say every Monday for four Mondays, I wanted to ask them for referrals.
00:25:15
Speaker
And so you can have it, you know, you can change the text each time or whatever, but you could do something like that and roll them in that campaign.
00:25:22
Speaker
And then that way, you know, the system is asking them for reviews and referrals, um, for four times.
00:25:31
Speaker
And then, and then it ends and you're not like bugging them, but it just kind of does that leg work for you.
00:25:37
Speaker
And so we see referrals coming through the system all the time.
00:25:40
Speaker
And it just makes me do like a fist pump.
00:25:44
Speaker
It's like, heck, I'm like, these guys are using the platform and like, they're getting, they're making more money from, you know, in addition to what rep card already offers them, like CD, if your pearls come through, it just makes me smile.
00:25:54
Speaker
Like every time we see one come through every single day, it's just like, man, like, it's just, it's like, I wish I had this 10 years ago when I started.
00:26:05
Speaker
I know you should come up with a way to track like how many extra sales your rep card users have or how many referrals.
00:26:14
Speaker
Yeah, we could definitely track the referrals.
00:26:16
Speaker
It's hard for us to know exactly how many, like if you have a user that's using it for a year and you know, he has 10,000 notifications that have come through from people opening his card, watching his videos, clicking on buttons, leaving reviews.
00:26:31
Speaker
leaving referrals, like all those notifications.
00:26:33
Speaker
We just don't know how many of those convert into customers.
00:26:37
Speaker
Um, but we knew what's happening because of the stories that, you know, some of our users have shared back with us around pest control, the alarm, solar satellite, um, you know, just across the, across the board.
00:26:51
Speaker
So, yeah, that's incredible.

Advanced Features

00:26:55
Speaker
Yeah.
00:26:55
Speaker
So talk about, um, then for the more advanced people, you got like the whole Facebook pixel stuff.
00:27:00
Speaker
Um,
00:27:01
Speaker
So can you explain a little bit how that works and maybe for people who haven't done it before, how they could use that for like retargeting or kind of the advanced nerds we got on the podcast?
00:27:12
Speaker
Yeah, 100%.
00:27:13
Speaker
Thanks for bringing that up.
00:27:15
Speaker
You know, it's the Facebook pixel.
00:27:17
Speaker
For those of you that don't understand what that means,
00:27:22
Speaker
We've all gone to Lululemon or Nike.com or Adidas or some website.
00:27:27
Speaker
You're checking out some new clothes or new shoes or whatever.
00:27:29
Speaker
And then all of a sudden, you go back to Instagram, literally two minutes later, and you scroll down and that same pair of shoes, not just the same model, but the same color, everything that you were just looking at is right there in your feed.
00:27:42
Speaker
And that functionality, that process is due to the Facebook pixel.
00:27:47
Speaker
And so when you were on Nike.com or Adidas or whatever, the pixel is hosted by Nike's website, but it will crawl through your phone and grab your Facebook account that you have open on your phone and it will give Nike access on their end to market to that Facebook account.
00:28:05
Speaker
And that's how you're seeing that ad seconds later.
00:28:08
Speaker
we have that same technology built into rep cards.
00:28:11
Speaker
So if you're, um, techie at all, you can create a Facebook page for yourself as a, as a, you know, I've seen some solar guys.
00:28:19
Speaker
I know Danny Pesce has one called Dan, the alarm man.
00:28:22
Speaker
Um, he's in security, but he has one for, you know, just all of his Facebook stuff.
00:28:27
Speaker
Right.
00:28:28
Speaker
Um, and so you can, I've seen some solar guys do it too.
00:28:31
Speaker
You make a Facebook page and you can create ads.
00:28:34
Speaker
And then when you talk to a homeowner at their door, you send them your card.
00:28:38
Speaker
They said they want to think about it.
00:28:39
Speaker
They want to talk to their spouse or maybe you've got appointment the next day.
00:28:43
Speaker
Once they open your business card, the Facebook pixel will go to work and then you can have a Facebook ad of you saying, Hey, thanks for taking a minute to talk with me at your door.
00:28:53
Speaker
You know, I'm looking forward to talking with you about an appointment.
00:28:58
Speaker
I'd love to work with you.
00:28:58
Speaker
You know, you could have your ad say whatever you want, but what that means is that that housewife you talked to at two o'clock, she's now watching Netflix.
00:29:07
Speaker
you know, at 10 o'clock at night, hanging out with her husband.
00:29:10
Speaker
And all of a sudden she's scrolling through Instagram and she sees your Facebook ad and she's like, Oh honey, this guy came by from XYZ solar.
00:29:17
Speaker
You know, you're just, you're top of mind.
00:29:19
Speaker
You're back in your phone through their Instagram and their Facebook.
00:29:23
Speaker
And we're going to be adding Google, which will help you tap into YouTube and Google ads as well.
00:29:29
Speaker
But that's the process.
00:29:30
Speaker
So for you, for, for you,
00:29:34
Speaker
You nerds out there, you guys that know how to do this, it's extremely powerful.
00:29:38
Speaker
And for you companies out there, imagine you got 20, 30 reps and all of them are sending out rep cards.
00:29:45
Speaker
And now your pool is huge.
00:29:47
Speaker
Your audience is building in Facebook.
00:29:50
Speaker
Then you can run lookalike audiences and all that.
00:29:52
Speaker
But you're literally targeting back to people that have already seen your reps.
00:29:55
Speaker
They've already seen your brand.
00:29:58
Speaker
They've already seen your logo.
00:29:59
Speaker
They've shaken your rep's hand.
00:30:01
Speaker
They've seen you in live in color.
00:30:03
Speaker
And so you get to market, not just to like a good demographic, but to actual customers or potential customers that have talked to your people.
00:30:09
Speaker
So yeah, a lot of fire to what you can do.
00:30:17
Speaker
Hey, solarpreneurs, real quick.
00:30:19
Speaker
If you've been in the solar industry any amount of time, you know that in order to take it to the next level, you need to always be recruiting.
00:30:25
Speaker
What is it?
00:30:26
Speaker
ABR, always be recruiting.
00:30:29
Speaker
So if you need help with recruiting, I wanted to share with you something that helped me take my recruiting skills to the next level.
00:30:36
Speaker
We literally went from an office of less than 10 reps to 25 to 30 reps in less than three months.
00:30:45
Speaker
And we did this with reps that continue to sell with us.
00:30:49
Speaker
Two or three of them went on to become managers.
00:30:52
Speaker
Several of them were top producers in our office.
00:30:55
Speaker
And there are multiple reps that are still with us to this day, more than a year later.
00:31:02
Speaker
So what is it that helped me?
00:31:05
Speaker
I took up the services of Ryan Holman with Sells Recruiting University.
00:31:11
Speaker
He helped me develop a system to take my recruiting game to the next level.
00:31:16
Speaker
And he really helped me follow up with the recruits, schedule group interviews with them, get a huge pool of applicants coming in day after day.
00:31:26
Speaker
I wanted to share with you guys his link.
00:31:28
Speaker
If you are looking to take your recruiting skills to the next level, go to Calendly.com slash sru forward slash solarpreneur.
00:31:39
Speaker
Once again, that's Calendly.com slash sru slash solarpreneur.
00:31:48
Speaker
SRU is Sales Recruiting University.
00:31:50
Speaker
Ryan will help you take it to the next level.
00:31:59
Speaker
Yeah.
00:31:59
Speaker
Another story I heard you tell on the other podcast you've been on is there's even people that are like sharing this on maybe like neighborhood Facebook pages.
00:32:11
Speaker
They can text, obviously the link to other people, the neighbors of your card.
00:32:17
Speaker
And I mean, yeah, I think of, especially in solar, if you were to have someone share your card on like a neighborhood Facebook page,
00:32:25
Speaker
I mean, you probably guarantee just at least a lead or two from that.
00:32:29
Speaker
Do you have any stories of people doing stuff like that?
00:32:31
Speaker
And I don't know, blowing it up.
00:32:33
Speaker
I think that's probably one of the most underutilized tools of rep card.
00:32:38
Speaker
Um, you know, the, the main functionality of sending, you know, someone asks for a car, do they want more info?
00:32:42
Speaker
You can send them a card with a cool video and
00:32:45
Speaker
call to, that is so easy to do because it's already a part of what you're doing every day.
00:32:50
Speaker
You know, it's just, it doesn't make you change your style or the way you pitch or anything.
00:32:53
Speaker
It's just an extension of what you're doing.
00:32:55
Speaker
But what you just talked about is something that I feel is super underutilized where you send a card to someone, they can then share your card to a Facebook group.
00:33:03
Speaker
So imagine they share it to their neighborhood Facebook group and you take a selfie with them right there.
00:33:09
Speaker
And then they just write a little comment that says like, we're going solar.
00:33:13
Speaker
We chose to use ABC solar.
00:33:16
Speaker
We've got Taylor here.
00:33:17
Speaker
You know, he, he's getting us all set up.
00:33:20
Speaker
We're super happy with the process.
00:33:22
Speaker
You know, his business card is attached.
00:33:24
Speaker
If you're looking to get solar, feel free to reach out to him and your card would be attached right there for them to click on.
00:33:30
Speaker
And when they click their card, they're not just seeing your face and your name, but again, they're seeing your bio, they're seeing your reviews, they're seeing,
00:33:38
Speaker
your reputation and that's where the name rep card comes from is from your reputation card and you're able to ideally persuade them even farther to call you to click that call button or text button and reach out to you.
00:33:51
Speaker
So, you know, you could almost even knock a door of someone that already has solar if you're starting a neighborhood and get them, you know, talk to them about their savings and then see if they would share your card to Facebook.
00:34:04
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:04
Speaker
To be that right person probably, but, you know,
00:34:07
Speaker
Imagine leveraging someone else's deal.
00:34:09
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:11
Speaker
Because solar in general as a product and they share your car, but specifically with your customers, there's not a better way than to have them share your car to their Facebook.
00:34:22
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:23
Speaker
It's fire.
00:34:24
Speaker
Definitely.
00:34:25
Speaker
Definitely.
00:34:25
Speaker
No, totally agree.
00:34:26
Speaker
And yeah, especially these neighborhoods where, you know, they're gated or,
00:34:32
Speaker
Like we've been in some neighborhoods lately, they're like HOA neighborhood or they're like condo type homes and super strict HOAs.
00:34:41
Speaker
And they didn't even get people knocking their doors.
00:34:43
Speaker
So we knocked this condo neighborhood.
00:34:46
Speaker
We booked probably six appointments within two hours there.
00:34:51
Speaker
And then we get someone calling the cops just because they never have people going to their neighborhood.
00:34:55
Speaker
They're not used to people knocking on their door.
00:34:57
Speaker
It's all gated and everything.
00:34:59
Speaker
Right.
00:35:00
Speaker
You know, we pulled the trick where you just wait for a car to come through the gates and then, you know, go in the neighborhood.
00:35:07
Speaker
Right, right, right.
00:35:07
Speaker
Which hopefully the cops aren't listening to this, but they're not the best thing to do.
00:35:12
Speaker
But like those neighborhoods, they're not hit up by other people.
00:35:16
Speaker
But the flip side of that is they call the cops because they don't think you should be there because they never have people knocking their doors.
00:35:24
Speaker
So we booked six appointments, then we're kicked out.
00:35:26
Speaker
But if you can get an area like that, have them share your card or just make the connection, like areas like that I think would be a perfect example of this.
00:35:36
Speaker
Like no one's really knocking their doors.
00:35:38
Speaker
Maybe they have a strict HOA.
00:35:39
Speaker
They're not used to people coming.
00:35:42
Speaker
But if you can make the connection, just get one person to share your card or get that pipeline going, I think it would work, especially well for areas like that.
00:35:52
Speaker
Yeah, it's also a great way if you talk to someone that has solar and you're like, hey, Mr. Jones, you know, my name's Brad.
00:35:58
Speaker
I'm out here with AFC Solar.
00:36:01
Speaker
I noticed you guys already have the panels.
00:36:02
Speaker
How's the savings for you guys?
00:36:04
Speaker
Oh, it's awesome.
00:36:04
Speaker
Cool.
00:36:04
Speaker
Well, hey, you know, we do have a referral program.
00:36:07
Speaker
We're offering 250 bucks for anyone that you refer.
00:36:10
Speaker
If you wouldn't mind, I'm going to send you my business card right now.
00:36:13
Speaker
And that way you have that.
00:36:14
Speaker
If you ever come in contact with someone that wants to go solar, they see your system.
00:36:17
Speaker
I'd love for you to send them my link.
00:36:20
Speaker
What's your phone number?
00:36:21
Speaker
Can you send it?
00:36:22
Speaker
And then, you know, a good question I used to ask was like, because if you ask people, who can you refer?
00:36:27
Speaker
They say, oh, I can't think of anyone.
00:36:29
Speaker
And so I'm always like, hey, Carol, when you have good news in your life, when something goes really well, who you call?
00:36:36
Speaker
Who's that person that you're like super excited to call?
00:36:38
Speaker
And they think of someone and they're like, oh, it's my mom or it's my friend, Rebecca, whatever.
00:36:44
Speaker
And you're like, okay, so does Rebecca have solar?
00:36:47
Speaker
Mm-hmm.
00:36:48
Speaker
You know, and then you're talking about a person and then you're like, cool, if you wouldn't mind,

Leveraging for Referrals

00:36:52
Speaker
I sent you my card.
00:36:52
Speaker
Like I said, just send it to her.
00:36:54
Speaker
It could be 250 bucks, you know, and then you're on your way.
00:36:58
Speaker
And so you take just a minute or two as you're walking, are you walking by that house to have solar leverage rep or get them in your system, make a note that says, you know, solar customer, you know, referrals or something.
00:37:11
Speaker
Because when you go to repcard.com and we're bringing this feature to the app,
00:37:15
Speaker
But on rep card.com, you can go into your leads and customer lists and you could filter it by the word referral or, you know, referral person or whatever.
00:37:24
Speaker
If that's what you've been typing in for every referral person.
00:37:28
Speaker
And you could then select all of those and send them a message all at once.
00:37:33
Speaker
And it says, you know, Hey, I know I talked to you in the recent past about referring people, you know, we're now upping it to 400 bucks this weekend, 4th of July or whatever.
00:37:44
Speaker
and, um, leverage that.
00:37:46
Speaker
So there's a lot of ways to get, uh, in depth with rep card.
00:37:51
Speaker
If you really wanted to leverage it, um, again, the basic functionality will, will, will bring you deals, but there's so many other creative ways that we've seen people leveraging it to, again, generate more business.
00:38:01
Speaker
So, yeah, that's incredible what you've done.
00:38:04
Speaker
And I think more and more people, as they hear about this, they're going to realize that they're missing out.
00:38:09
Speaker
They're not using something like, yeah, if they're not using rep card, um,
00:38:14
Speaker
And have you, I know paid versus the free version.
00:38:18
Speaker
You also have a free version and we'll definitely link to that.
00:38:20
Speaker
So everyone can at least get started on the free version and go check it out today.
00:38:25
Speaker
If you haven't checked that out.
00:38:27
Speaker
Um, but just for our audience, what's the difference between the paid versus the free version and what are the functionalities of that?
00:38:34
Speaker
Gotcha.
00:38:35
Speaker
So currently today in our paid version, sorry, in our free version, you download the app and you get into a trial where you have
00:38:43
Speaker
I believe it's 15 cards you can send and we give almost all the functionality except for the campaigns.
00:38:52
Speaker
And so you can experience rep card and kind of see how it works.
00:38:54
Speaker
And then after 15, it would basically ask you to go premium.
00:38:57
Speaker
And then with premium, you get the ability to create custom campaigns and to send those off as well.
00:39:03
Speaker
We are transitioning over the next four or five months.
00:39:07
Speaker
Um, we're going to be transitioning to a free version.
00:39:10
Speaker
So if you have a rep card or in the trial, you'll be able to use it free for life.
00:39:14
Speaker
It's just, we're going to change some of the functionality.
00:39:18
Speaker
Um, and so you will have an option to continue to use it.
00:39:22
Speaker
Um, we're just hitting 15 cards and then it going away.
00:39:25
Speaker
But, um, but yeah, that's, that's a good point.
00:39:27
Speaker
You brought up that it is free.
00:39:28
Speaker
It's in the app store.
00:39:29
Speaker
You can just go download it, create your profile, um, and start using it right away.
00:39:35
Speaker
Yeah, it's huge.
00:39:36
Speaker
And what I think is really cool too, another feature is like, especially in solar, a lot of times we're working with different installers, anyone that's has like a dealer.
00:39:45
Speaker
I mean, sometimes you're working with four or five different installers, depending on the area or the type of product you want to offer the customer.
00:39:55
Speaker
It's a rep card, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you can go and just, I mean, send out essentially a different card for each person depending on what you're doing, right?
00:40:03
Speaker
So let's say if it's through this installer, you can just go and change it before you send it.
00:40:08
Speaker
It's for, you know, this area, this installer, and then if it's for a different person, change a different installer, and then it keeps all your reviews and everything.
00:40:17
Speaker
Is that right, Brad?
00:40:18
Speaker
Am I explaining that right?
00:40:20
Speaker
Yeah, so you would have to switch accounts.
00:40:22
Speaker
So we give the switch account functionality.
00:40:25
Speaker
So if you long press on your profile picture on the home tab, it will ask you if you want to switch accounts, but it would be like a whole separate account.
00:40:33
Speaker
So different reviews, different, you know, different logo and everything.
00:40:39
Speaker
So you're literally switching your whole account from one to the other.
00:40:42
Speaker
Okay, gotcha.
00:40:45
Speaker
Okay.
00:40:45
Speaker
But yeah, I know it's, but some people, maybe they're doing pest control in the summer coming back and doing solar or something in the fall.
00:40:53
Speaker
Um, yeah, it sounds like you can switch accounts and do that too.
00:40:56
Speaker
And yeah, totally.
00:40:59
Speaker
We have some guys that, you know, maybe they do real estate on the side or whatever.
00:41:03
Speaker
And so I don't know, they're on the door talking solar and then someone's like, yeah, we're thinking about moving, you know, we're moving like in two months and they're like, well, Hey, do you have a, an agent?
00:41:12
Speaker
You know, we've heard all these different random stories of people just being able to quickly switch accounts and then share.
00:41:21
Speaker
But, yeah, when you said pest control, you know, it reminded me of guys coming home from the summer.
00:41:27
Speaker
We had a guy a year ago, this time last year, just to know what the summer, he was in school and he reached out.
00:41:36
Speaker
He was in class and he had โ€“
00:41:40
Speaker
four people reach out to him during, during class.
00:41:43
Speaker
He had two text messages, a phone call and an email that all came through from the summer.
00:41:49
Speaker
I think he said in closing two of them, but he's like money sitting in class.
00:41:54
Speaker
Yeah, that's crazy.
00:41:57
Speaker
I know it's just funny.
00:41:58
Speaker
Cause I, that reminds me, I actually got a call from a customer.
00:42:04
Speaker
Um, when I, back when I did pest control, I did pest control.
00:42:07
Speaker
I think it was like five years ago.
00:42:11
Speaker
I think it's 2015.
00:42:15
Speaker
Anyways, a while back.
00:42:17
Speaker
But I actually got a call from someone who's in North Carolina and they wanted pest control.
00:42:23
Speaker
And this is the first call I've gotten, I think ever from passing out a business card.
00:42:27
Speaker
It's five years ago.
00:42:30
Speaker
I'm just thinking five years that I get one call in five years from passing out a regular business card.
00:42:38
Speaker
like huh those ratios aren't too great one in five years you can put that on the shelf trophy yeah i know and i'm not even doing pest control anymore like yeah i can help you give me an hour or two so i can find a company yeah so i just thought that was funny like well that ratio sucks so um but i think the difference i've heard from so many people just like
00:43:04
Speaker
that have used rep card and I'm just getting started.
00:43:07
Speaker
So I'm, yeah, I need to get way more into it cause I'm seeing how powerful it is, but just friends that have been using it, I'm seeing them use it and people are actually keeping their contact information.
00:43:18
Speaker
It's not just another card.
00:43:20
Speaker
I know on the other podcasts I listened to you with you, Brad, Rick Martinez, my buddy, he just talked about how the lady opened the door and he sees a stack of like 50 business cards that haven't been touched.
00:43:32
Speaker
And so he's like, yeah, I don't even do anything with these.
00:43:35
Speaker
I'm not sure why I keep them.
00:43:36
Speaker
But then he sends her his digital business card and she's like, yeah, this is like way different.
00:43:41
Speaker
This is super cool.
00:43:42
Speaker
I'm actually going to send this to my friends and, and she kept it.
00:43:46
Speaker
And I think she ended up buying and then, you know, sent it to a bunch of her friends that bought something like that.
00:43:51
Speaker
So I'm like, wow.
00:43:52
Speaker
Yeah.
00:43:53
Speaker
People are paying way more attention with this.
00:43:55
Speaker
It's just the regular stuff.
00:43:57
Speaker
Yeah.
00:43:57
Speaker
It's just easy.
00:43:58
Speaker
I was knocking doors.
00:44:00
Speaker
Um,
00:44:01
Speaker
about three years ago when I was kind of testing it and I was telling pest control and I knocked on the door and the lady was like, she came through her Vivint doorbell.
00:44:09
Speaker
You know, you see the Vivint sign and you're like, okay, these people are buyers, right?
00:44:14
Speaker
She was like, Hey, I'm out at dinner.
00:44:16
Speaker
I don't, you know, I'm not, I'm not home right now.
00:44:19
Speaker
And I'm like, that's no big deal.
00:44:20
Speaker
We're just in the neighborhood doing a special because of all the pesking, all the black widows or whatever.
00:44:27
Speaker
I said, so let me just send you my business card.
00:44:30
Speaker
Well, you can get back to dinner and you've got my information.
00:44:32
Speaker
You just reach out when you get home.
00:44:34
Speaker
And so she's like, yeah, she gave me her number right through the doorbell.
00:44:36
Speaker
And I'm thinking like, is this number legit or not?
00:44:38
Speaker
Like, whatever, you know, so I sent her my card.
00:44:42
Speaker
And then I saw a few minutes later, she opened it.
00:44:43
Speaker
So I'm like, cool.
00:44:44
Speaker
Like that was her card.
00:44:45
Speaker
So that was her number.
00:44:47
Speaker
So it was two weeks later, she called me.
00:44:50
Speaker
I saw she opened my card.
00:44:51
Speaker
And sometimes, you know, they open a card and you're like, oh, they're about to call.
00:44:55
Speaker
And so sure enough, just random since she calls.
00:44:58
Speaker
And, uh, she's like, yeah, swing over.
00:45:01
Speaker
You know, I had a company, but they're not showing up and, you know, I've got these black widows.
00:45:06
Speaker
And so I went over and her daughter was there.
00:45:09
Speaker
She lived next door.
00:45:10
Speaker
They had just moved into this new build area together.
00:45:13
Speaker
So of course I sold both of them, you know, and it's just like, I just kind of laughed at myself.
00:45:17
Speaker
I'm like, this came from a Vivint doorbell when usually a doorbell is kind of, they start talking through the doorbell and you're like, oh man, I'm so far away from getting the sale.
00:45:25
Speaker
Like,
00:45:26
Speaker
you know, you do your best job and you kind of just move

Practical Success Stories

00:45:29
Speaker
on.
00:45:29
Speaker
But I was like, it was, it was awesome to see it firsthand as, you know, I was building it.
00:45:35
Speaker
I was still knocking to kind of tweak things and that sort of, so that was a personal experience from the doors through the Vivint doorbell and getting a two for one.
00:45:43
Speaker
Yeah.
00:45:44
Speaker
You know, and it just, there's nothing like waking up to a callback or, you know, someone shooting you a text like, Hey, we're interested.
00:45:50
Speaker
It's like,
00:45:51
Speaker
Yeah.
00:45:51
Speaker
You're like, where are the cameras?
00:45:52
Speaker
You know, where's Ashton?
00:45:54
Speaker
I know.
00:45:55
Speaker
I know.
00:45:55
Speaker
Stuff that you're saying is like, I've never heard of before.
00:45:58
Speaker
Usually it's like you get to Vivint doorbell and they don't come to the door.
00:46:02
Speaker
I just walk away.
00:46:03
Speaker
It's like, forget about it.
00:46:04
Speaker
You're like, you're like, Oh, they're probably inside ignoring me.
00:46:09
Speaker
And like your mind.
00:46:12
Speaker
Yeah.
00:46:12
Speaker
Oh yeah.
00:46:13
Speaker
No, I just, you know, you just try to send them a rep card now.
00:46:15
Speaker
And, and, and I, you know, I had a guy at door to door con.
00:46:18
Speaker
He was like, well, what if,
00:46:19
Speaker
what if they don't give you their number?
00:46:21
Speaker
Like, what if they don't want to give you their info?
00:46:24
Speaker
I'm like, bro, if they're not going to give you their phone number, they're not going to buy solar from you.
00:46:31
Speaker
It's just that simple.
00:46:32
Speaker
Like, you know, now you know to not waste your time with that go back.
00:46:39
Speaker
Or you send a card to people and one of them opens your card and watches your video and the other one never opens your card.
00:46:44
Speaker
Well, guess which go back you're going to.
00:46:46
Speaker
I know.
00:46:47
Speaker
you have way more insight and you're way more effective as a sales rep by using rep card, not just like waiting for it to just bring you deals, but just on the day-to-day stuff you already do.
00:46:56
Speaker
You can have more insights to what's going on.
00:47:00
Speaker
So yeah, for sure.
00:47:01
Speaker
I hear from new reps all the time.
00:47:03
Speaker
Like, Oh, I got a solid go back for tomorrow.
00:47:05
Speaker
Like, Oh, did you get their email?
00:47:07
Speaker
No.
00:47:07
Speaker
Do you get their phone number?
00:47:09
Speaker
No.
00:47:10
Speaker
I'm like, well, how is this?
00:47:11
Speaker
I'll go back.
00:47:12
Speaker
They're like, oh, well, they didn't want to give me any of that, but they said they're interested.
00:47:17
Speaker
Yeah.
00:47:17
Speaker
Want me to come back?
00:47:19
Speaker
I'm like, dude, yeah, there's no way they're a solid go back if they wouldn't even give you that stuff.
00:47:24
Speaker
I'll bet you I'll forget about it.
00:47:26
Speaker
Yeah.
00:47:28
Speaker
But, I mean, worst case, you still have a feature where you have, like, a badge thing that they can scan from their phone, right?
00:47:35
Speaker
If you do just really want to give someone contact their phone.
00:47:39
Speaker
Yeah.
00:47:39
Speaker
The guys out there that have ever messed with the badge machine or tried to do badges quick, you know, I've dealt with it in the past.
00:47:45
Speaker
I don't think there's a better way to do it than through our badging service.
00:47:49
Speaker
And then also it has the QR code on the back for you to be verified in real time.
00:47:55
Speaker
There's also a website link that we give you with your brand on it that you can put on your website.
00:48:00
Speaker
So they go to, you know, abcsolar.com and they scroll to the bottom or some companies put it at the top.
00:48:06
Speaker
It says verify a rep and they click on it and they can literally put in your badge number and it'll validate.
00:48:10
Speaker
So, you know, I've only lost a handful of deals over the years from, from not having like a badge, you know, but when they, when the people ask, it's always nice to be like, Oh, it's right here.
00:48:21
Speaker
Some don't ask and they're just looking for it.
00:48:24
Speaker
And when they see it, it kind of puts them at ease.
00:48:26
Speaker
So you never know when a, you know, a $10 badge is going to just kind of move the sale down the, down the road.

Recruiting and Networking

00:48:33
Speaker
I think it's, it's one of those things that's,
00:48:36
Speaker
you're never really going to know when it, when it helps you, but it's, it can definitely, you know, help.
00:48:43
Speaker
Yeah.
00:48:44
Speaker
For sure.
00:48:44
Speaker
And it's, yeah, no, it's cool.
00:48:46
Speaker
You're turning people that before I was like, you know, no way, no way you're going to sell these people like one in a million chance.
00:48:53
Speaker
And with rep card, it gives, yeah, they're still going to be tough to sell.
00:48:56
Speaker
I mean,
00:48:57
Speaker
If people are hesitant to give you all that and just want a card, then obviously they're tougher to sell, but it's turning those one in a million people into maybe your chances.
00:49:06
Speaker
Now one out of a hundred or something.
00:49:08
Speaker
And so if you go through a hundred of those contacts, you're going to be sitting in the classroom, maybe in the, in the fall or whatever, and cells will be coming in.
00:49:17
Speaker
So yeah, I think that's what's super powerful is you're just, it's not just getting the low hanging fruit.
00:49:22
Speaker
It's getting the fruit at the top of the tree too.
00:49:24
Speaker
And that's what this software gives us the chance to do.
00:49:28
Speaker
So, um,
00:49:30
Speaker
So Brad, yeah, we appreciate you coming on the show and, um, yeah, super grateful that you created this tool for us.
00:49:37
Speaker
It's just about having more tools in the toolbox and the more we can do that, the more success we're going to have.
00:49:43
Speaker
So if people want to find out, I know you can just Google rep car.
00:49:46
Speaker
It'll take you right to it, but, um, people want to connect with you more or find out more about the software.
00:49:51
Speaker
Um, where can they go and where can you point them to on social media and all that?
00:49:56
Speaker
Sweet.
00:49:56
Speaker
So, yeah, thank you so much, Taylor.
00:49:58
Speaker
Um,
00:49:58
Speaker
So you can just go to the app.
00:50:00
Speaker
So if you want to get the app, just type in rep card, all one word, and you'll have it on Android and iOS.
00:50:07
Speaker
You can follow us on Instagram or YouTube at rep card app is our handle.
00:50:12
Speaker
And we use that across all the platforms, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, that type of thing.
00:50:17
Speaker
It's just rep card app to get that there.
00:50:21
Speaker
So the last thing I'll say about it is just that, um,
00:50:27
Speaker
you know, as we head into the recruiting season for a lot of just the summer guys, you know, we have a whole recruiting pipeline process manager within it too.
00:50:35
Speaker
So just like you're sending customers, you know, you're, you know, you're at Starbucks and you meet someone, you're at Costco, you're at a career fair, something a little bit more formal, no need to take some signup form or anything.
00:50:47
Speaker
You just send them your rep card.
00:50:48
Speaker
And again, you're sending them your cool recruiting video that your company made.
00:50:52
Speaker
Or maybe a video from, you know, your, you know, the CEO just talking and he could just be talking into the camera like, Hey, it's nice to meet you.
00:50:59
Speaker
You know, we're hiring right now that, you know, here's the five reasons why you should come join us.
00:51:05
Speaker
And again, imagine running Facebook ads to those guys, you know, they're swamped with stuff.
00:51:09
Speaker
They're in college or depending on who you're trying to recruit.
00:51:14
Speaker
You can now,
00:51:16
Speaker
You know, I used to have people on my phone that were like, you know, Taylor Taco Bell and John Costco and just I'd meet people the most random place.
00:51:24
Speaker
If you're a good recruiter, you're recruiting everywhere you go.
00:51:26
Speaker
Yeah.
00:51:27
Speaker
On top of all the other organized events.
00:51:30
Speaker
And so again, sending your card to a recruit, you can see when they opened your card, you can see all the same notifications.
00:51:37
Speaker
And then just follow up at the most optimal time.
00:51:39
Speaker
They open your card that, you know, 11 o'clock at night, shoot them a text.
00:51:43
Speaker
Yeah.
00:51:44
Speaker
Thinking about you, man.
00:51:45
Speaker
I can't wait for you to make some big stacks with us, whatever, you know?
00:51:47
Speaker
And so we, we, we hear stories like that all the time where, you know, you're getting these notifications, you reach out right after and you're like, Oh, it's meant to be, you know?
00:51:57
Speaker
Yeah.
00:51:57
Speaker
That's funny.
00:51:58
Speaker
Yeah.
00:51:59
Speaker
And that reminds me too.
00:52:00
Speaker
Um,
00:52:01
Speaker
Another feature that I think I heard about from your other podcasts is instead of just putting in a million like potential recruits or potential customers in your phone.
00:52:10
Speaker
Like I'm like that too.
00:52:12
Speaker
I have a person and I have, you know, guy with a weird shaped heads that I met at Walmart or whatever.
00:52:19
Speaker
You have all those, but rep card, you can just put them right in there.
00:52:21
Speaker
And then on, I know for sure on iPhone, you can set it to where if they call, you don't have to have the contact in your phone.
00:52:28
Speaker
It'll just say from rep card and then here's their name, right?
00:52:31
Speaker
So it's a feature you have to turn on in your settings of the iPhone and we walk you through it in the app.
00:52:37
Speaker
If you hit the settings button, it'll be, there'll be a little information button.
00:52:40
Speaker
But yeah, if you have, you know, this guy named John in your rep card and he calls you and he's not on your phone, it would normally show up as a random number.
00:52:48
Speaker
Now it's going to say rep card, caller ID, John Smith lead is calling, you know, your dinner with your wife, but you're like, Dave, this is a 20 kilowatt system.
00:52:57
Speaker
Like I've got to take this phone call quick.
00:52:59
Speaker
Like he told me he was going to call me back tonight.
00:53:01
Speaker
And I did not think he was going to call, but instead of it being a random number, it's now John Smith lead.
00:53:07
Speaker
Hey John, how's it going?
00:53:10
Speaker
And he's like, oh, he remembered my name, you know, so.
00:53:13
Speaker
Yeah, that's super powerful too.
00:53:16
Speaker
Love it.
00:53:17
Speaker
Cool.
00:53:18
Speaker
Well, thanks, Brad, for sharing some of the features and definitely go check it out.
00:53:21
Speaker
We'll post a link when this gets launched for our listeners too, that you'll be able to go check it out and maybe do something special if you're hearing about this from the show.
00:53:32
Speaker
But yeah, go Google Ripcard, follow him on social media, you guys on Instagram and all that too, Brad.
00:53:37
Speaker
Awesome, Taylor.
00:53:39
Speaker
I appreciate it.
00:53:40
Speaker
Yeah.
00:53:41
Speaker
So we'll be in touch and thanks for spreading value and any final words of wisdom you want to give to our listeners or any people that are in door to door right now before we say goodbye, Brad.
00:53:53
Speaker
Man, this, I get, I don't know.
00:53:55
Speaker
One thing I'd say came to mind from one of my mentors, Aaron Seaver, one of the best door knockers in the pest control game.
00:54:03
Speaker
He always said, just go get one more.
00:54:06
Speaker
Don't focus on, you know, you got to go with five for the day or whatever.
00:54:09
Speaker
At the end of the day, leave whatever interaction and go get one more than you currently have.
00:54:14
Speaker
And just relentlessly go after one more.
00:54:16
Speaker
And back when I was knocking that, that really helped me to just focus on giving everything I had versus trying to go get three that day or five.
00:54:24
Speaker
It was like, if you close your first three deals, then all of a sudden you get complacent.
00:54:29
Speaker
And if you go all day and it's seven o'clock and you don't have any, then three feels like a mountain's falling on you.
00:54:34
Speaker
So it's like, he just said, go get one more and leave it all on the line.
00:54:37
Speaker
And that was a game changer because I had knocked doors for years and I just was always chasing these numbers and you got to have numbers to have goals, but go get one more.
00:54:48
Speaker
So.
00:54:49
Speaker
Love it.
00:54:49
Speaker
Love it.
00:54:50
Speaker
Appreciate you, Brad.
00:54:51
Speaker
Thanks for coming on.
00:54:52
Speaker
And remember that advice, always go get one more push hard and then use a tool like rep card because that's going to help you get one more when you're sitting at dinner or when you were in the classroom during summer sales.
00:55:03
Speaker
Okay.
00:55:05
Speaker
So we'll be in touch and we'll talk soon.
00:55:07
Speaker
Thanks,

Final Thoughts
