Episode Topic: Sales Blitz Recap

00:00:43
Speaker
Today we are doing a blitz recap.
00:00:45
Speaker
Just got done with a winter blitz.
00:00:47
Speaker
Knocked down eight deals during the little blitz.
00:00:50
Speaker
So I'm going to share some tips, some tricks, some advice.
00:00:53
Speaker

Listener Reviews and Value

00:01:11
Speaker
to the show.
00:01:11
Speaker
Matter of fact, we have got two new reviews.
00:01:14
Speaker
Wanted to give a quick shout out.
00:01:15
Speaker
So much appreciated to EC Does It Solar.
00:01:20
Speaker
I think we read his last time.
00:01:21
Speaker
But then also we got Goaded1666.
00:01:25
Speaker
He says, I don't even sell solar and love it.
00:01:27
Speaker
That's what I'm talking about.
00:01:28
Speaker
You don't have to sell solar.
00:01:29
Speaker
You can still get, you know, value from this.
00:01:32
Speaker
But hopefully we're convincing more people to get in the solar with this.
00:01:36
Speaker
He says the sales advice found in the show is amazing.
00:01:39
Speaker
I don't work in the solar industry, but I found just as much value in this show as anyone else potentially can.
00:01:44
Speaker
The practical advice and tips make it easy to practice my own sales pitches.
00:01:48
Speaker
So goaded1666, appreciate that.
00:01:51
Speaker
And you are goaded for listening to the show.
00:01:54
Speaker
Then we had Sawyer Garns.
00:01:56
Speaker
He left us a review last Friday.
00:01:58
Speaker
Says, sharpen your saw.
00:01:59
Speaker
I love learning.
00:02:00
Speaker
Always trying to up my sales game and there's no limits to how much I can learn.
00:02:04
Speaker
This is an endless resource of education and I appreciate it, bro.
00:02:07
Speaker
Appreciate you, Sawyer, and appreciate anyone who has taken the time to leave us a review or share the podcast or help us in any way.
00:02:15
Speaker
That is how we get this in front of more people.
00:02:17
Speaker
And really, that is the reason this show has kept going.
00:02:20
Speaker
So much

Sales Blitz Success in Victorville

00:02:21
Speaker
appreciated.
00:02:21
Speaker
Like I said, I just got done with a little blitz.
00:02:24
Speaker
We were blitzing in Victorville, California, which is the high desert, some desert homes out there.
00:02:30
Speaker
So I'm going to share a little recap of how it went.
00:02:33
Speaker
I'm going to share what worked for us, things that I felt maybe could have been improved a little bit, and just some takeaways I had from the blitz.
00:02:39
Speaker
So let's jump into it.
00:02:41
Speaker
So Blitz, we did 10 days, maybe 11.
00:02:45
Speaker
It's February 2nd through the 13th and was able to close eight deals during the Blitz.
00:02:52
Speaker
I guess I wasn't working Sunday, so we had two Sundays in there.
00:02:56
Speaker
So technically works, I guess it was

Recording and Analyzing Sales Interactions

00:02:59
Speaker
nine days.
00:02:59
Speaker
Yeah, about nine days.
00:03:00
Speaker
So was happy with the results.
00:03:02
Speaker
Got my eight deals during it, almost a deal a day.
00:03:06
Speaker
And yeah, I mean, I'll start with some things that maybe could have gone better.
00:03:12
Speaker
There's always things we can look back and analyze and improve on.
00:03:16
Speaker
And I think that's what is so cool about solar cells is just doing the analysis, constantly improving.
00:03:22
Speaker
That's what I see top producers do.
00:03:24
Speaker
And so this was a takeaway I got during it.
00:03:26
Speaker
We all tried to record ourselves as much as possible.
00:03:29
Speaker
I actually recorded, I think, every single deal I closed in that.
00:03:33
Speaker
And that's something that all of our coaching clients were working with.
00:03:37
Speaker
We share those.
00:03:37
Speaker
I'm sharing them sometimes in the podcast.
00:03:40
Speaker
But it's something with the people we work with.
00:03:42
Speaker
We encourage record your presentations, record your closes.
00:03:47
Speaker
That's you make improvements.
00:03:49
Speaker
And this is something that I noticed during the Blitz.
00:03:51
Speaker
My friend and mentor, Nick Finger, who was working with us out there, he also closed eight during the Blitz.
00:03:58
Speaker
But he, I think he had 120 closes last year and he was still recording his presentations, was still listening back to him.
00:04:06
Speaker
That's something we did one of the nights is we just listened to a full close, analyzed it.
00:04:10
Speaker
So one of the takeaways I got is it's really cool to just have that growth mindset.
00:04:16
Speaker
Almost every night we're listening to recordings of

Sales Blitz Atmosphere and Daily Routine

00:04:19
Speaker
closes.
00:04:19
Speaker
We're listening to, you know, just stuff on Noxstar, closes from people that are having a ton of success in the industry.
00:04:28
Speaker
So it's really cool.
00:04:28
Speaker
You just kind of geek out for a week.
00:04:30
Speaker
You're all together.
00:04:31
Speaker
You're all geeking out.
00:04:32
Speaker
And it's just like you're all being sales nerds, right?
00:04:35
Speaker
Imagine someone going to Comic-Con or something for a week.
00:04:38
Speaker
They're geeking out on comics.
00:04:39
Speaker
This was our Comic-Con, but for sales.
00:04:41
Speaker
So that's something I really took away, really liked is when are you going to have the opportunity to geek out like that?
00:04:47
Speaker
Probably only happens during a Blitz.
00:04:49
Speaker
So that was something really cool with it.
00:04:50
Speaker
So just our schedule for the Blitz.
00:04:52
Speaker
We woke up.
00:04:54
Speaker
We all went to the gym, usually around 7 a.m.
00:04:57
Speaker
And got back.
00:04:58
Speaker
We did our cold plunges.
00:05:00
Speaker
It's funny.
00:05:00
Speaker
We actually had a pool and a hot tub in the place we were staying, an Airbnb.
00:05:05
Speaker
We booked for the Blitz.
00:05:07
Speaker
But we went to turn on the hot tub.
00:05:09
Speaker
We found it costs $100 a day to use the hot tub.
00:05:12
Speaker
So...
00:05:12
Speaker
We're like, 100 bucks, just use a hot tub.
00:05:15
Speaker
Like, okay, maybe we're being cheap, but it seems a little ridiculous.
00:05:18
Speaker
So, and long story short, we ended up using the hot tub as a cold plunge.
00:05:23
Speaker
Did get pretty cold in the desert.
00:05:25
Speaker
So, this water was probably about 40 degrees.
00:05:27
Speaker
We got in it and cooled ourselves off.
00:05:29
Speaker
So, I like the schedule.
00:05:31
Speaker
I like the growth attitude where we're all training together.
00:05:34
Speaker
And then after we got back home,
00:05:35
Speaker
from the gym, from our cold plunges, we would go into a meeting at 9.30 a.m., usually about 30, 45 minutes.
00:05:43
Speaker
Then we all head out to the doors.
00:05:44
Speaker
And so we're not we're working either knocking or appointments basically from about 1030 to, you know, eight o'clock at night, seven or eight o'clock, depending on if you had appointments, then take like, you know, 30 minute, sometimes an hour lunch in there.
00:05:59
Speaker
So it was just really nice.
00:06:01
Speaker
Everyone was focused on a singular purpose.
00:06:03
Speaker
Everyone knew why they're out there.
00:06:05
Speaker
Everyone was hustling.
00:06:06
Speaker
Everyone was pushing.
00:06:08
Speaker
And that's why I am a fan of Blitz's because it gets you all in the same mindset.
00:06:11
Speaker
It gets you pushing together.
00:06:12
Speaker
So what I would say, if you are at a company or wherever you're at, if you're in a position where
00:06:17
Speaker
where you're out knocking doors, whatever you're doing.
00:06:19
Speaker
I think it's good to take on that blitz mindset, even if you're not out doing a blitz, maybe push for a week for 10 days.
00:06:26
Speaker
So you know what, I'm just going to go all out.
00:06:28
Speaker
I'm going to play all out this week or this next week and a half, see what I can do.
00:06:33
Speaker
Because it's really cool to see people break their records to push hard.
00:06:37
Speaker
It's been a while since I had eight deals in nine days.
00:06:42
Speaker
Probably been, I think my best week last year was like six deals in a week.
00:06:47
Speaker
So it was cool.
00:06:49
Speaker
I mean, I had one of the better weeks in my career.
00:06:51
Speaker
I think my best week was eight in a week.
00:06:54
Speaker
This was eight in nine days.
00:06:56
Speaker
Not quite.
00:06:57
Speaker
Hoping I could beat that record, but didn't quite hit it.
00:07:00
Speaker
But anyways, the takeaway is that if you're not doing blitzes in your company, I would highly recommend it.
00:07:05
Speaker
But even if you're not, maybe take 10 days and see how much you can do.
00:07:09
Speaker
See what you can throw down.
00:07:11
Speaker
And some things that I think could have been improved, the blitz, I think we could have

Logistical Challenges During the Blitz

00:07:17
Speaker
done a little bit better.
00:07:17
Speaker
Number one, we had guys paying some money to be part of this.
00:07:21
Speaker
We wanted people bought in.
00:07:22
Speaker
So everyone did pay to play.
00:07:24
Speaker
They did pay to participate in the blitz.
00:07:26
Speaker
And that went towards the Airbnb.
00:07:28
Speaker
That went towards some food.
00:07:29
Speaker
But what we could have improved on is we got the food and I was in charge of this.
00:07:34
Speaker
But if I were in charge of this, I would make sure you're getting guys solid food.
00:07:39
Speaker
And we weren't getting like meals for every day, but just kind of like essential things.
00:07:42
Speaker
But whoever was in charge of the shopping, they brought back like 20 frozen pizzas.
00:07:47
Speaker
They brought back all the sugar cereal and just I think peanut butter and jelly.
00:07:53
Speaker
So basic things and not that it was terrible, but it's like if you are fueling your teams for a week, get them some quality stuff.
00:08:00
Speaker
Don't bring back sugar cereal and frozen pizzas.
00:08:04
Speaker
It's like, let's bring back some quality food.
00:08:06
Speaker
And even if it's less, you can't be functioning on frozen pizza and Captain Crunch for a week.
00:08:11
Speaker
Get some Wheaties at least, some Breakfast of Champions.
00:08:14
Speaker
Get some food that will fuel these guys because you eat pure pizza and Cinnamon Toast Crunch for a week.
00:08:20
Speaker
It's not going to go as well as I think it could.
00:08:22
Speaker
So that was something that I think could have been improved is getting some better food.
00:08:26
Speaker
And then we had a couple meals.
00:08:28
Speaker
I did get sick of pizza.
00:08:30
Speaker
I think we had Papa John's like five times.
00:08:32
Speaker
We had DiGiorno's a handful of times.
00:08:35
Speaker
And so please do not give me any more Papa John's or DiGiorno's for at least a couple months.
00:08:40
Speaker
I'm over that for a little bit because we ate it so many times on this blitz.
00:08:43
Speaker
And I think I gained 10 pounds during it.
00:08:46
Speaker
So not 10 pounds, but I did gain a little bit.
00:08:48
Speaker
So that's another thing is like, you got to be taking care of your body.

Motivating the Team with High-Energy Meetings

00:08:52
Speaker
We were good about going to the gym, but it's like, if I could have gone back, I would have maybe meal prepped a little bit, brought my own food, planned that out.
00:08:59
Speaker
Cause there's not a ton of time to be cooking.
00:09:01
Speaker
You're booked up a lot of times, but it's like, how can you keep yourself, your mind clear and your body in peak physical and operating condition?
00:09:09
Speaker
I think it's super important during these blitzes.
00:09:12
Speaker
So we could have done better with that.
00:09:13
Speaker
Then the second thing is make sure on your blitzes, does everyone have a place to sleep?
00:09:18
Speaker
Does everyone have a place to stay?
00:09:19
Speaker
I made the mistake of not worrying about where I was sleeping until the last minute.
00:09:24
Speaker
Got into the house, we were chatting, didn't think about it.
00:09:27
Speaker
Then it's 11 o'clock at night.
00:09:29
Speaker
It's like, oh, I should probably figure out where I'm sleeping.
00:09:31
Speaker
go and guess what?
00:09:32
Speaker
All the beds were taken.
00:09:33
Speaker
So ended up sleeping on the couch for like the first three nights.
00:09:36
Speaker
And this couch, let me tell you, was not made for sleeping.
00:09:38
Speaker
It's one of those where it has like, you know, the separate seats on it.
00:09:41
Speaker
So you're laying across, your back is in one section, your middle back is in another section.
00:09:46
Speaker
Then your butt is like propped up because it's all different seats on the couch.
00:09:50
Speaker
So make sure if you don't have enough places, like make it clear, hey, some people might be sleeping on air mattresses, but get enough, you know, space that hopefully guys don't have to be sleeping on couches that weren't meant to be slept on.
00:10:03
Speaker
It was no big deal.
00:10:04
Speaker
We did have someone that only stayed, I think, the first two days.
00:10:07
Speaker
So after on the third day, I did get a bed on the squeaky bunk bed, but got the job done.
00:10:12
Speaker
But yeah, make sure you have the housing situation figured out.
00:10:16
Speaker
So those were the things that could have been improved.
00:10:18
Speaker
But again, positive experience with it.
00:10:21
Speaker
We had the meetings every day, got the people fired up.
00:10:24
Speaker
And it's cool.
00:10:25
Speaker
Primarily, we just wanted to get guys fired up for the day.

Learning from Peers: Efficiency and Accountability

00:10:28
Speaker
So it's high energy.
00:10:29
Speaker
You know, it was cool because I got to see how.
00:10:31
Speaker
like Nick Finger, some of the other guys in our organization, which is Voltaic, just get guys pumped up and they've ran a lot of blitzes.
00:10:38
Speaker
So I really was able to learn from them like, hey, we're going to get guys pumped up.
00:10:42
Speaker
We're blasting music.
00:10:43
Speaker
We're celebrating the wins.
00:10:44
Speaker
We're setting the goals.
00:10:46
Speaker
And, you know, you're getting your guys on your feet.
00:10:48
Speaker
You felt like you're at a Tony Robbins seminar.
00:10:50
Speaker
And I think that's how the blitz should be.
00:10:52
Speaker
You want to get guys fired up because when you're going all out like that, it can get exhausting.
00:10:57
Speaker
And then another thing that I did like is actually learned this from one of one of my friends, Trevor, that came on the Blitz with us.
00:11:05
Speaker
Shout out to Trevor.
00:11:06
Speaker
But this dude, he takes a golf cart out and he uses it to knock.
00:11:10
Speaker
Genius.
00:11:11
Speaker
So for spread out homes.
00:11:12
Speaker
I'm thinking of doing this.
00:11:14
Speaker
He bought he buys himself a golf cart and he just zooms door to door, saving a ton of time.
00:11:18
Speaker
And I'm like, man, what am I doing?
00:11:20
Speaker
Taking my Segway or driving.
00:11:22
Speaker
That's cool.
00:11:22
Speaker
But this this guy has got a golf cart.
00:11:25
Speaker
He's going door to door.
00:11:25
Speaker
He's talking to people on the street.
00:11:27
Speaker
He's flagging them down.
00:11:28
Speaker
You can't really do that from a car.
00:11:30
Speaker
So cool little hack that I learned from that.
00:11:33
Speaker
And then, yeah, and then something else that I just took away and that helped me is, let's be honest, sometimes it is tough to keep that energy.
00:11:40
Speaker
It is tough to get out there all the time.
00:11:43
Speaker
And I'm guilty of getting lazy on the doors.
00:11:45
Speaker
I'm guilty of letting myself slow down a little bit.
00:11:47
Speaker
So what I try to do is whenever I felt myself slowing down or not getting after it, I went out, I called someone up, I linked up with someone, I kept myself accountable, and we went to the doors together.
00:11:59
Speaker
We knocked some doors together for a little bit.
00:12:01
Speaker
then we'd split off, be on one side or the other street.
00:12:04
Speaker
So just to take away at in general, it's like whenever I'm not feeling it on the doors, just call someone else, get an accountability partner.
00:12:12
Speaker
Worst case, if you're feeling like you don't want to be there at all, you don't want to do it, then just go team knock with someone.
00:12:19
Speaker
I know managers like bash on team knocking.
00:12:21
Speaker
Yeah, you're splitting doors in half, but some doors are better than no doors.
00:12:25
Speaker
And so that was my takeaway on the days where I was feeling down, where I was out
00:12:29
Speaker
up till I think one night I got back after 11 from a deal the morning I was exhausted like all right realistically the only way I'm getting myself out in the morning I'm gonna go team knock with somebody so don't be afraid to do that when you're pushing hard if you're in a competition obviously you know
00:12:45
Speaker
go by yourself.
00:12:46
Speaker
You need to be hitting as many doors, as many people as possible.
00:12:48
Speaker
But again, some doors are better than no doors.
00:12:50
Speaker
So those were my takeaways from

Invitation to Future Blitzes and Offerings

00:12:52
Speaker
the blitz.
00:12:52
Speaker
Sorry, kind of random thoughts all over the place.
00:12:54
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, we have blitzes coming up.
00:12:58
Speaker
If you are interested in coming on a future blitz with us, hit me up, probably make a page for this.
00:13:03
Speaker
But for now,
00:13:04
Speaker
hit me up on social media.
00:13:06
Speaker
Shoot me an email, taylor at solarprinters.com.
00:13:08
Speaker
We're planning one tentatively for the end of March.
00:13:11
Speaker
And I mentioned it before, California, they got net metering 3.0, which if you haven't heard, that's where they're cutting 75% of the energy credits that the utilities give out here.
00:13:20
Speaker
So it's the time to be selling in California.
00:13:22
Speaker
Hit me up if you want to get part of this, if you want to be part of this modern day gold rush, that's what it is.
00:13:28
Speaker
And if you're planning your own blitzes,
00:13:30
Speaker
Hopefully you got some nuggets, some takeaways from how it went for us, things that worked.
00:13:35
Speaker
But yeah, make sure you're fueling your guys with good food.
00:13:37
Speaker
Make sure you have a housing situation figured out.
00:13:40
Speaker
And it's well organized.
00:13:41
Speaker
And do the daily meetings.
00:13:43
Speaker
Keep them high energy.
00:13:44
Speaker
If you, worst case, don't want to get out there for whatever reason, then go team knock.
00:13:49
Speaker
Team up with someone.
00:13:50
Speaker
Get an accountability partner.
00:13:51
Speaker
So those are some takeaways, some thoughts I had from our most recent Blitz.
00:13:55
Speaker
Keep tuning in.
00:13:56
Speaker
We got some fire episodes coming up here soon on the podcast.
00:14:00
Speaker
Appreciate the support.
00:14:01
Speaker
My name is Taylor Armstrong.
00:14:02
Speaker
I will see you on the next one.
00:14:05
Speaker
Hey, solopreneurs.
00:14:06
