Born and raised in Melbourne, it took GP and musician Dr Halimah Perez-Torres a journey to Spain (where she met her husband) and back to settle on a career in medicine. Nowadays, Dr Perez-Torres balances a demanding general practice career with family and her passion for music, including writing and releasing her own musical compositions.

Dr Ahmed Kazmi is a specialist dermatologist working in private practice in Melbourne. He trained in the UK at prestigious centres including the Royal London Hospital. Dr Kazmi manages all aspects of adult and general paediatric dermatology. He enjoys practicing holistically and being patient-centred in his approach.
Outside of medicine, Dr Ahmed Kazmi enjoys a successful comedy career. He is an award-winning comedian and cabaret artist and stars in Channel 7's House of Wellness in 2025.

She stays up to date on the latest advancements in treatment, providing a comprehensive range of options—from holistic, exercise-based, and mind-body approaches to non-hormonal and hormonal therapies.A passionate advocate for health literacy, Dr Brown empowers women to understand their health and explore options for managing menopause effectively. She is a dedicated member of the Australasian Menopause Society and the International Menopause Society.

Dr Janaka Peiris is a GP with over 30 years of clinical experience in general practice, occupational medicine, and medical assistance. Born in Kandy, Sri Lanka, Dr Peiris grew up in London and moved to Brisbane in 2010. Beyond his medical career, under the pseudonym Janaka Malwatta, he is a writer, with a cricket blog and poetry collection.  In 2021 he won the Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize from Arts Queensland for his anthology, Blackbirds Don't Mate with Starlings. He also explores narrative poetry, often focusing on Sri Lankan stories, and has performed at events like the Queensland Poetry Festival.

Join us as Dr Peiris shares his journey from being an "NHS refugee" in the UK to finding autonomy in general practice in Australia. He discusses the factors that led him to choose Brisbane, his experiences as an immigrant doctor, and the inspiration behind his poetry anthology, which addresses racial tensions and personal experiences.
