D20 Radio, your game is roll.
00:00:46
Speaker
Hello, and welcome to our new Natural Play Podcast at the O'Brien Campaign Setting. I'm your Game Master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Cyrus.

Revelations and Family Secrets

00:00:54
Speaker
Welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? Talked. Lots of talking. Revelation. It was a revelatory episode.
00:01:04
Speaker
Randy, what's the biggest thing we learned? That I would say Raynard's going to kill his father. I thought it was a soft father because you're Satan's kid. Milo finds out that Satan is actually his real father.
00:01:21
Speaker
which leads Aerys to concocting a plan that, hey, maybe Mylo could be the head of that. Sounds better than breaking them into the drill hole. And lead them in the right direction. Mylo could be head of the clan. Raynor could be head of House Fearland. Aerys can rule Hywall. I'm uninterested in the water. He'll be a bouncer at Sabia's. King of the Buffets.
00:01:48
Speaker
You know what? That is a trait that Hob and I care about. I'd really like to begin with. Alright, where are

Conspiracies and Trust Issues

00:01:55
Speaker
we left off? Hob starts a restaurant chain. You all were in Ruska's Roost. Faking.
00:02:00
Speaker
And it seemed like you had landed on, in terms of dealing with Raynard's situation. We're being quietly kicked out of Ruska's roost. I think it's where we are. But potentially trying to gather evidence against Kalvair that he's making a move against Eleanor and then presenting that alongside, presumably Raynard, telling her like, hey, my dad told me to kill you. Here's the evidence that shows. Yeah, that's true. Oh, that's where we left off. Let's go gather that evidence.
00:02:29
Speaker
So is there anyone you could actually trust? Arthur. Great. What about, don't you have a brother that you can find out? I was about to say, what about your brother? No, he made up to the point... No, I think when I tried to tell him, he stopped me from telling him, didn't he? He didn't want details. He talked through it with you, but he was like, don't give me details, because if you give me details, then I have to deal with it. Okay. Basil seems to like you.
00:02:57
Speaker
And Basil seems to like working for himself. Kinda reminds me of, sorry, I'm watching Game of Thrones, I'm embarrassed. If someone else did the talking, we might be able to get Verla's help. I think that we could. But yeah, don't. One of us will call. I probably shouldn't even be in the room. You could sit still and smile. I don't think she likes it either. Verla's definitely gonna know what, she's gonna wanna know. Plus now I'm seeing someone. I was about to say,
00:03:29
Speaker
I don't know the extent of yeah. No, you're right. He shouldn't be there. Okay, so I think I think we can we need to clean the room I think we could tell her because it seems like it would be a We're trying to prevent a

Preventing Assassination

00:03:55
Speaker
major assassination sort of thing, which probably something that Verla's in favor of preventing. Yes. She doesn't seem in favor of assassination based on the conversations that we had after we killed Jason. Yes. If someone else will tell Verla. Okay. Because apparently I'm not allowed to talk to her. It's not a good idea.
00:04:22
Speaker
You are incompetent to talk to her. Yes. And that has to do with our relationship. It does not. No, it does. It's more that the way that you have talked to her has created the relationship that you have. And it's not good. And I say that as someone who does that a lot. Just trying to help her be a version of herself. Yeah, you know.
00:04:52
Speaker
I think one thing to be aware of though is if we bring Verla into this and she's going to be gathering evidence. I was thinking maybe she would be able to point us in the direction of contacts or something. I don't necessarily want her to... Yes. It seems like... We potentially... I mean she's already pretty wrangled in on the wall. We have to be able to keep the true reasoning behind what we're doing away from her obviously.
00:05:21
Speaker
who were trying to prevent someone from assassinating Lady Elvinor to fear them. Well, I mean, that part, yes, but the part where we're trying to get rid of his father. Let me ask this. I just want to get rid of the problem. Yeah, okay, so you don't care if your father ends up dead? No. Okay. I'm not saying that's not likely to end up being how fear them would deal with it.
00:05:45
Speaker
I just don't think he's doing a good thing. Yeah. Totally agree. I think this is the one area of our current mess that we are entirely all on board with that it's bad that your dad wants to just murder this lady because

Family Dynamics and Conflicts

00:06:02
Speaker
she's in community.
00:06:02
Speaker
How far out of the picture does your father need to be for you to have no repercussions? Honestly, I just think I don't need to be in the picture. I mean to not have any repercussions. It seems like his father would lose his current position. Yes, but would that prevent him from sending someone to take out? They would at least take him down to our level.
00:06:24
Speaker
Whoever he could send, if he loses his position, then whoever he could send to kill Reynard is someone we could totally kill. We also just destroyed Swirt and Vortex Man. I don't think you can find anyone worse. Why would you say that in the presence of the one higher power that Eris does believe in? Which is the dude sitting over there.
00:06:44
Speaker
Oh. What are you doing, then? I'm Eris's god. Eris believes in the game master. Speaking of which, I left a project on the table, so. Yes, we've been here for a while. I'm going to go back to the cauldron, and then I'll call Verla. I think you should. OK. You have the best communication with her. I have her phone number. The rapport. Oh.
00:07:13
Speaker
Wait, what? She doesn't like to talk to me. She doesn't really want to talk to Milo. You're not the best at talking to everyone. Oh, she's good. Says Raynard. Honestly, I think I might be. Yeah. But also, she's angry at me for lying to her about the murder. That's what I mean. I knew there was something. Yeah, it's not true. Eris is obviously the best option. I'm the only one she did not want to arrest. Eris, do you need any help back at the cauldron? I'd be willing to come and assist if you need anything.
00:07:45
Speaker
I don't think I need help with this thing. Very well. Okay. What's everyone else doing? I don't know. Is he in touch with Basil, perhaps? Do you do that accent again? I don't know. It's like halfway between Reinhardt and Forrest Gump. I'm going to the buffet. Just dumb dummy. I, Hob is... Okay. Hob's skill set.
00:08:15
Speaker
when you have to back up with dice is limited. I don't know how Hob can help right now. I can go ask questions of someone if we can come up with a character we're asking questions of. But who else can we talk to? Who knows what we need to know about?
00:08:33
Speaker
Calvary

Questioning Roles and Abilities

00:08:34
Speaker
Fiarlid better than... Calvary Fiarlid better than... Maybe one of his brothers... It's not me, I keep getting his name wrong. You just sit me down asking me questions. I figure his brothers are possible contacts, if we can get in them and talk to us about that. And then I'm hoping Brela will be able to point us towards a contact. I have a brother and two sisters, right? And then a cousin. You have a brother and a cousin. I thought I had sisters too. Nope. I think I made up sisters. Yeah, brother.
00:09:01
Speaker
that we're having this conversation as we're walking. Yeah, we have left. Gothic was about to pick you all up and carry you out. And a mother. We've just taken Tasha up and we're just up somewhere chatting now. I still have a mother. Yeah, got a mom. And she likes me. And she likes me. She loves you, in fact.
00:09:17
Speaker
But would she be on board with this? Yeah, she probably also loves your dad. I don't know. How are her feelings about her husband? That's a fair question that you probably know the answer to, but we don't. Yeah, you, with your empathy and understanding emotion, you try to know exactly how your mom feels. And also not being in the house for the past couple of years. That's also... I feel like if she likes me, she probably doesn't like him as much. You can operate under that assumption or you can do something to try and figure out. Just flip a story point and make it so.
00:09:47
Speaker
How good is my perception? That's the cheap way. You have that information on your character sheets. I don't know what to do right now. My persuasion is good. What Eris incense to do will not take very long.
00:10:08
Speaker
I wouldn't know if it'd be good to go picking around before you have to start six conversations before you have one. If that makes sense. I feel like that would give more opportunity for

Gathering Evidence

00:10:19
Speaker
it to get back to somebody than just starting the one conversation. That's what I would do if my life was on the line.
00:10:31
Speaker
Okay, so Eris is heading back to the College and finishing her project and then she's going to call Verla. Correct. Is everyone else just going home to wait to hear from Eris? Is my understanding correct that Tarvel left it with Milo that he will contact us? Yes. Yes. Tarvel is going to do some. Both of our Dreadhold contacts we're waiting to hear from Tarvel and Koldor. Okay, so no need to go poking around there.
00:10:59
Speaker
Eris, you are going to call Verla, not meet Verla. I might also end up meeting Verla. I don't know. I think I might go with Eris. If it leads to a meeting, then I'll have to make a decision. But there's no reason not to hang out together. I mean, you all could go to like, you all could go to Soaring Spirits or something just so you're nearby. Eris is making a call. That's where Milo is going to go. That's definitely where it may not be relevant. What do I have to do to make my soak more?
00:11:30
Speaker
Spend experience or buy armor and so I was thinking I was like could I go buy better armor? Yeah, cuz my soak is what to You're busy working on something else Your to-do list is very long right now, and I need it to not be
00:11:48
Speaker
Especially for Raynard. Raynard just goes and spends money. Maybe that could be something I could try and get a little more information. Could I go to the family? Taylor? Armor? Blacksmith? Who makes armor in this world? Lots of people. Artificers. I was saying, could I maybe try and get a little more information about my family by going to our person who makes armor?
00:12:15
Speaker
potentially because i'm sure i have enough gold gosh i thought my charm was better than that but that's how rich people spend money so reynard currently has on just clothes no armor whatsoever so you're in a slit that sounds like a good thing to change yeah because i'd like to not just have
00:12:42
Speaker
What's your bronze score? Two. So Eris is wearing leather armor, so her soak value is four. Yeah, I need to do something to... Just run to the family armor! Anyone will sell you leather armor. Yeah. I'm also gonna try and maybe see... Hi, when's the last time you talked to my dad?
00:13:01
Speaker
Yeah. Did he mention any plots while he was here for a fitting? Okay, so. One time he told me he would kill for this. So yeah, you would know who would supply the agents of House Fierling with arms and armor. So you can head up there to have conversation with that person while Aerys is going back to the cauldron to work on a project. Hob, Milo, soaring spirits, going with Raynard. What's the? Would you like some company, Raynard?
00:13:31
Speaker
Absolutely. Okay. Very well. Do you know anyone? What are you doing? Go there. Okay. Okay. So yeah, it's like, why don't you come meet me? Hob has some thinking to do, but he's going to go there. Yeah.
00:13:48
Speaker
Okay, Reynard. Yeah, you head to the upper section of the city and you know the contact for House Fjirlin, specifically your dad and his agents, where they get their armor. What's their name, Reynard? No. They're not good at these made up names. Literally can't go wrong. Don't listen to him, you can go wrong. Jeff. You went wrong. It's fantasy because it's spelled J-W-R-F though. Jwarf.
00:14:18
Speaker
I don't even know the names of the people we've already talked to. Kelvin. John? Daelin. I was going to say Darren. So Daelin works. Perry Farthouse. Snazz. Dope Bob Saskatchewan. Oh, Alyssa Girth. That's their name. Alyssa Girth.
00:14:43
Speaker
Okay, so. You even said that one before and it's still constant. I know, it's still funny. I even stole that one if I didn't hear it. Elizagoth. Elizagoth and her sister carry Underworld. I want to play in that game. Okay, yeah. Dalen, name of his shop is Forge of Shadows. Can you walk in? There's not a whole lot of markings on the outside. It seems very, like, you would know. Can you walk in looking like Dreynyr? Not.
00:15:13
Speaker
There's not a whole lot of like exterior marketing, like Dalen does fine contracting out to various dragon marked houses. So he doesn't need people walking in off the street to buy stuff. And so yeah, you walk in and an elf man.
00:15:28
Speaker
with very dark umber skin and hair with, it's predominantly white with like streaks of black through it, tied up in a high ponytail. And he's wearing leather apron, no shirt underneath, bare arms, sweating pretty profusely as you walk in. It's like a curtain of heat. And he's standing over his forge, got a foot, stoking the fire as he's working some metal. And he looks up and says, oh, Drenia.
00:15:57
Speaker
and he dips the metal in some water as steam rises up and what can I do for you? Lovely to be here. I would love to commission you for some new armor. You're commissioning or you want to buy some? I would like you to talk about a design and then I pay you for it. That is a commission. Oh, okay. You want custom armor.
00:16:20
Speaker
yes okay and he wipes his hands on his apron walks over and grabs a piece of parchment and some stick of charcoal and okay what do you want i recently saw my father's armor that you made and i was hoping to get something rather similar maybe just a little bit more ornate he's not as flashy as i am i know yes
00:16:46
Speaker
Alright, yeah, his armor is... It's like super enchanted, costs like 7,000. Very ridiculous. What's on his tabs? So, his is chainmail. Now, here's the thing right now. Oh, you want to use this up in the field? Because your father doesn't go out in the field. Like, his armor will keep him alive, but he's not sneaking about trying to kill anyone anymore, so...
00:17:07
Speaker
He doesn't need to be stealthy in his armor. That's what I'm asking. Yes, he's not. Something lightweight and movable, but I need protection because the world is turning out there. Darin, Darin. Took us 170 episodes of this campaign to get into the quest for studded leather armor. Darin. Darin. I knew that.
00:17:28
Speaker
All right, so I got two options for you. I can do just leather armor. I'll make it pretty for you. No big enchantments or anything, but keep it alive and it's quiet. Or I can do Brigandine armor, which a little bit lighter weight, not going to be as, it's a bit more flexible and has a bit more utility, protecting you from ranged attacks as well. But Brigandine armor is much more expensive. Let's do the leather armor. Leather armor? Yes. Anything as an improvement.
00:17:58
Speaker
Is that what you're currently working in? Yes. Then you're right. Yeah. It was unread when it started. All right. Are you wanting to go for your father's aesthetic of black, a little bit of gray here and there, dour? Oh, no. So when you said you wanted father like your armors, what you meant is nothing like your father's. You mixed up father and armor.
00:18:30
Speaker
Your father's like your armor, there's nothing like your father. And I pass out. So when you say you want armor like your father's, you mean nothing like your father's armor. It just fits very well. You've been wearing your father's armor. No, it fits him very well. So I liked that about it. You're almost there, man. So I would like that to fit me very well. So you want something to match your aesthetic? Yes. Okay, what is that? I'm sorry, my father's just on my mind.
00:19:01
Speaker
just speaking of my father I just I hadn't seen his new armor and I wondered when the last time you might have stopped by was sorry repeat I just hadn't seen the new armor so I just wanted to win the last time he might have stopped by
00:19:24
Speaker
Oh, he's been putting in some more orders, agents and weaponry and things like that. There's been a bit of an uptick, but there's been a lot going on in the city with the clan falling apart and all that kind of stuff. Yes, terrible business. Sure. Good business for you, I assume.
00:19:41
Speaker
Yes. Money-wise. Yes. Yes. What is this? It's what you do, you make things and take money for it. Give me a check of some kind. Whatever, just roll some dice. Of any kind? Probably a charm check is. It has to be charm. What is that? Three yellow? Four yellers! Probably a relative two.
00:20:08
Speaker
Against what? It's going to be one red, two purple. Well, that's not fun. Talking dad, you want a negotiated boost? I'll flip that, so make it two red and a purple. Two red and a purple. He's spending money, so can he get a boost? Sure. We've heard about the customer and their tendency to- I feel like this is a family friend, so I should probably get some kind of boost for that too.
00:20:33
Speaker
He's a family friend of the family that you got kicked out of for a long time. I'm not sure he likes any of you guys. Maybe he doesn't know. Maybe he doesn't know. Hey! I'll try him!
00:20:45
Speaker
But let's figure out if I did. I think so. I think that's right. This is, yep. Yep. Let's clear out. Boom. Wow. Why am I so confused? Knock this down and put that advantage. And then same thing here. And so now it's this. So I have two success, two advantage, and a try out. OK.
00:21:11
Speaker
before we get into the advantage and the triumph. So we'll have to spill some beans. Dalen says, no, your dad has been in here quite a bit, actually, just... He says that there's some big stuff going on with the house. I'm sure that plenty more than what I do in terms of the things that are going on, but he... Never hurts to hear them again, though. No, I guess I hear, congratulations, maybe, in order that some Elvinors were nearing retirement. I want to say retirement. Is that what we're calling it now?
00:21:41
Speaker
You have two advantage in a triumph to spend if you want to before you respond. Yeah. I have a pitch for the advantage because I think it's a small thing where he keeps his invoices. Like you can swipe invoices for the uptick in weapons and armor orders or something like that. That's some investigative stuff. Yeah, I'm good on that. Okay. Because you could use that as evidence. Right. Yeah. Okay. I like that. I'm still going to try and have to roll to get those though. Yeah. But I assume you're good at that.
00:22:10
Speaker
Really? Skullduggery? I was going to say, surely that's okay. The triumph. Man. I want to say, I just get that information. It has to pertain to the situation. It doesn't have to. But not necessarily this one-on-one conversation, but to the situation. I mean, something is a pitch. My lizard too, right? My lizard.
00:22:38
Speaker
smoke starts pouring out of his, a mind flayer crawls out of Milo's forehead. Do I have an uncle or something? Dylan's mind and hands his memories over to you. I was like, do I have an uncle or something that can walk in? Well, if you want that, another pitch that I had is, Dylan could have found out through the grapevine of Smith's that Calvary's not, Calvary's going to go with someone else.
00:23:04
Speaker
long-term, and so Dalen has a grudge against your father and would be very willing to act against him. I like it. Oh, for armor. Yeah. Dalen was hired by Elvin Nore and Calvert. I like that. I like that. Yeah, I do. I think that's great. Now I have a friend. Yeah. So, I guess right now I want to say something. Yes, how do you feel about that? You work with a lot of
00:23:32
Speaker
the houses and the leaders and you must have favorites of some sort. I tended not to play favorites too much until I found out that apparently your father has a smith that he would rather go with long term in terms of the house efforts so I'm inclined to say I'm gonna miss Elvinor quite a bit. Wow, what if...
00:23:53
Speaker
What if you didn't have to miss her? I would need a bit more context to understand that statement, Reynard. I've heard that maybe it's not so much her decision of retiring, maybe being forced out. That's a... Yes, that's a good way of putting it. Milo, by the way. Yes, my smoky friend over here is Milo. Hope you don't mind. Milo Boracic. Give me another charm check.
00:24:22
Speaker
One red, two purple. Basically, he's trying to ascertain. He thinks that you might have been here to set him up on behalf of Kelso. Are you going to have a boost because of your? We got all the story points. Don't I get something for being charming? I don't know. You have your heroic ability that you can flip two story points to remove
00:24:47
Speaker
At this point, I think a black and a purple, any purple that you want, though, from the check. I'm not worried about the red. You can flip that after you make the check, though. But we do also have all the story points if you just wanted to add additional dice. Add a green? Yeah. Yeah, let's do that. But not all, but plenty. Ooh, I think so. This is gone. Is that a player note? No. This is gone.
00:25:16
Speaker
Okay, so this becomes an advantage, and then I can find it. And that goes away, and then that goes away. So yes, just barely. One success, three advances. Okay. All right. One dollar takes! It's a daily glimpse of Eunaris' eyes. Well, if that were the case, then I would be very interested in ensuring that my contract with your house didn't dry up. You have three advantage. Hey, I'm wondering if I just ask for
00:25:48
Speaker
As you probably know, I'm not my father's favorite. I've heard. It's always been my older brother. What's his name? Alistar. Seems us. So I too find a slightly more favor with... I'm sorry. Can't get anyone's name right. I too find a little more favor with Elvinor.
00:26:16
Speaker
So I would be interested to present any information you might have to her regarding my father and maybe any backhandedness he might have against her. Now, Reinard, while I'm in alignment with your desire to see Elvinor maintain her power, obviously I'm never going to be in a position where I can actively act against a high-ranking member of the House, but
00:26:46
Speaker
I can get started in your armor right away. And he turns his back and walks to the back of his shop. And as he turns, pointedly looks at like the end of the counter where he's... Yeah. Basically like you're tall enough like looking over there's a drawer built into the counter that you could pull out and yeah. Awesome. I would say that drawer right there.
00:27:06
Speaker
So, do you open the drawer? Oh, yeah. It explodes. No, it's a mind flayer. Yeah. Yeah. There's a stack of papers in there that you could easily just grab and stick into your bag as is Reynard's habit. Yeah. So easy peasy. Beautiful. Take them in my bag.
00:27:24
Speaker
Okay, cut two. Oh, what? I didn't get to tell him. I like owls. I have a story for you. Didn't get to tell him. I like owls. Right, notice. Are you owl motifed right now?
00:27:39
Speaker
Yeah, you got your goggles. Probably some little things, yeah. A little owl here and there. Well, we can hand wave that you communicated owls. Make it a hoot. Never mind. Now we cannot. Veto. Cut two. Down to the cauldron. So, Hopper, are you going to the cauldron, or are you going to go hang out and wait for Eris to call you? He either is OK. OK. Yeah, he would probably ask Eris. Do you want me to wait here or come with you? Is all of there working? I don't want to be in the way. No, he's fine. It's OK.
00:28:09
Speaker
I have really not very important project to start working on last night because I was putting off the other one and I need to probably just need to do it if we're gonna start doing things but it's okay. We're definitely starting to do things I think yeah. Alright then how goes as you as you all are pulling

Philosophy and Gardening

00:28:26
Speaker
into the cauldron you can see both of you walking near the cauldron away from it but not it's just somebody walking around but they're there of note given everything that's been going on
00:28:38
Speaker
You see a very old hobgoblin just walking down the street and he has two bags of what seem to be like dirt of some kind, like burlap bags full of dirt.
00:28:53
Speaker
that he has one over each shoulder and he's walking with purpose towards the area that Aeris probably noticed. The garden that people have been talking about opening and stuff like that is walking in that direction. And yeah, I mean you see a very old hog gobbling with wrinkled, very weathered skin.
00:29:09
Speaker
But as you get a brief look at him, bright amber eyes. Is this someone Eris has seen in the neighborhood? And long white hair. You may probably have seen him around. You've never had any direct interaction with him, whether that's of Eris being avoidant or just happenstance. But you probably would have heard his name thrown around, like in the soaring period, people talking about Durgoth working on the garden. I would not have heard that, though. Likely.
00:29:37
Speaker
I'm sorry, did you say you look like he's walking past or coming from the cauldron? No, like he's just, as you all are going to pull in the garage, he's just walking down the street. Okay, yeah. But it's somebody walking with two giant bags of dirt down the street, so you know. That's like dirt, man.
00:29:52
Speaker
but Eris notes this and then goes inside so sitting on the on the workbench that Eris picks up and moves aside is a new metal sign that's like a nice
00:30:12
Speaker
updated more professional looking version of the lifted of the soaring spirits nice sign because I remember that being just like painted on a board or something like that just a couple of bottles with wings yeah yeah and then Eris walks over
00:30:29
Speaker
and picks up a bundle from the workbench and takes a breath and then lifts the piece of cloth off of it and it is the Dashuur's Gauntlet which I want to know what do. Fair enough. Does the cauldron have like comfort outside of the beds? There's probably a couch somewhere. It's very haphazard. It's like a
00:30:55
Speaker
It's like couch you swiped from somewhere and stuck in your dorm room. Yeah. This is stuff you found on the curb. Sure. But it's there. But yeah. Yes. Okay. Then Ha probably goes to the couch and does that crash into a thing. Let me know if you need me. Eris has already got her earbuds in. I said, let me know if you need me.
00:31:17
Speaker
Okay, so there are two elements to the gauntlet as Eris examines it. One, you see some runes that examining them seem to be tied, like in the way that all magic is tied to the planes, not in the same way that Milo's scar is tied to Zoria. But drawing off the power of the bar, like darkness, shadow, gives you an ability called shadow meld. So where? Shadow, not necromancy. Yes. Okay. When in dim light or darkness, you can use a maneuver
00:31:46
Speaker
to meld into the shadows, making you nearly invisible. While shadow melded, all attacks against you have their difficulty increased by two. However, you cannot maneuver or take actions without breaking the meld. Additionally, and I guess that would also be all perception checks as well, like to spot or have their difficulty increased by two.
00:32:10
Speaker
Additionally, the Cunning Strategist ability built in this continent once per encounter
00:32:17
Speaker
You can perform a maneuver until the end of your next turn. You may use your cunning characteristic in place of brawn for all checks and increase the difficulty of all combat checks against you by one. Ah, doesn't know why, but he just feels like he doesn't want that. I'm interested in this glove. Eris already has a talent that allows her to replace cunning for the only thing she would ever use brawn for, which is punching people.
00:32:43
Speaker
Yeah. So Eris just examines the, the gauntlet. Oh, it also gives you, sorry. Also has melee defense plus one. She begins looking at how it's put together because obviously if she was going to make any difference of any use of it, I very much assumed that her hand and forearm are substantially differently sized than the dash ones. And so she begins looking at how it's put together. But for which hand is it? Left.
00:33:16
Speaker
Probably not true. Speaking for the lefties in the room. The sinister people, I gotcha. And I think she's going to start disassembling it. And are there mark, there are runes you said? Just plainer runes. Yeah. Does he have a maker's mark or anything? Yeah, probably.
00:33:48
Speaker
She would look for that and take whatever the plate is that it's engraved on off of the gauntlet and look at it for a long moment and then take it and fit it onto one of the plates of her gauntlet.
00:34:11
Speaker
weld it there and I don't know she's not going to wear this but I'm not sure what she'll do with it in the long term and so she she sets the rest of his side and tosses a blanket over it for a minute and just
00:34:27
Speaker
Takes a beat and I suppose I want to look at his Fletcher as well. It seemed like the distinction between my Fletcher and his Fletcher was it had these horrible, nasty, barbed things. Are there any other relevant features to it? Or is that really the only distinguishing mark of it? Eris is definitely not interested in doing that. If there is one of those
00:34:55
Speaker
Charges load Fletcher whatever the hob asks to see what though he wants to look at this because you didn't really get a chance to Look at this weird barbed the thing that stuck in him real hard. Yeah capsule. Yeah so no that that is the The distinction is the heroic ability attached to it. Yeah Eris passes you one of these one of the rounds Yeah, he was that way
00:35:25
Speaker
This is it's mean and rude at the same time. Yeah. And of course, violent man. Like I said, this that was him. And yeah, she takes the Fletcher and walks over to egric.
00:35:46
Speaker
Uh, and has Ygric just put his hands out as a step and uses him as a step ladder and just hangs the Fletcher on the wall over the, over where the coffee machine is. Okay. Yeah. And then Isaac done. Okay. So we should talk to Verla. You should talk to Verla, but I'm here to
00:36:16
Speaker
Yeah, let me see if she's... I stupidly showed her how to turn off my communicator. She may not be angry with me after she learned the details, but I did also still lie to her, like, in the furtherance of a tribe. She continued to talk to Raynard for a long time, and you gotta figure that was every single conversation she ever had with him. I do like to think that I'm better at this than Raynard.
00:36:44
Speaker
Eris picks up her communicator. Is Olive here? No, Olive out. Do I know where Olive is? Olive is not required to check in with Eris. Yeah. You know that she, her responsibility to assist Harbin has maintained. You get the sense that maybe Olive has picked up on, maybe we do Harbin's training at the Mill Hatch Industries Labs instead of in the Cauldron for Eris' sake. Yeah. So yeah. Yeah.
00:37:15
Speaker
Is there anything in the news about that? No. Cool.

Investigations and Strategies

00:37:19
Speaker
Heiress picks up our communicator and activates the, I keep saying frequency, but whatever. Yeah. It crosses his fingers that Verla picks up. Hey. Hi. What's up? I need to talk to you about something bad that may be going down and we're trying to
00:37:45
Speaker
Stop it. This is really very different from most of our conversations. Report a crime? Yes, but I don't think it's the kind of crime that you're gonna be able to... It has to do with one of the houses. Great. So... It's not... We're not really going... We're not going to deal with it using... Actually, I don't think we're gonna commit any crimes.
00:38:15
Speaker
Yeah, she looks over at her, there's nothing illegal about what we're trying to do. Uh, no, it's really big. Yeah, I mean, that's why we're calling the cop about it. Yeah, actually what we're trying to do is entirely legal. I just wanted, I needed to get in touch with you and find out if you had any contacts. I mean, if you needed to find out something about the high level muckety mucks in house fear, then who would you talk to? That's not Reinhardt.
00:38:42
Speaker
I was putting on my detective shoes and just going out to find out about that kind of stuff. My first stop would be House Thirani because they have beef and they'd want to talk. What if House Thirani has repeatedly in the last couple of months tried to murder one of your friends? I would have arrested them. Would you? Are you able to? I think she's talking about Milo actually.
00:39:08
Speaker
Listen, Reynard was actually pretty good in the post killing the Dashur conversation. Reynard is in okay with Eris right now. If you're not looking to talk to House Therani, if there are any members of House Fierlund that you know really well, that you could talk to, offer some kind of favor towards,
00:39:30
Speaker
If you know any other enemies that this particular person in House Fierlund has developed, that would be where I would go. You know, like a file on Calvary de Fierlund? I swear we're not trying to do anything illegal. Okay. He is head of House Fierlund in Sharn. Most people believe that
00:39:58
Speaker
He is lined up to take over the house if something were to happen to Elvinor. Yeah, he's trying to fast track that. Okay. And we want to warn her, but we want to present her with evidence. And so we're trying to gather evidence. Yeah. Okay. So if he's making a play like this, then he's going to need a couple of things. One is the financial backing.
00:40:27
Speaker
of the house because it's not a guarantee that he takes over. That could supplement it if it can outweigh whoever does have the financial backing of the house. He would also need obviously the support
00:40:48
Speaker
of a large number of people internally within the house via his reputation which based on my learnings of him he would have given his proximity to Elvinor since she also lives in Sharn even though she oversees the whole house. The biggest thing Thred I would pull on is he's going to need support from within her literal house. Staff, close allies, things like that.
00:41:15
Speaker
Especially if he's trying to do this in a way that would not be approved by the houses, then more than likely he has somebody on the inside that would be willing to help him facilitate the transition of power. You don't happen to know if he is close with anyone in her inner circle, or if anyone in her inner circle is disgruntled? I'm not talking inner circle. I'm talking staff. Like, cook. Do you know if any of her staff are disgruntled?
00:41:45
Speaker
She's the head of a house. I would not put any level of money that she treats the people that serve her breakfast Well, but that's just my cynicism. Yeah, and if Calvert can convince them that he'll treat them better then potentially that would be enough to have them excited about her not being around anymore, but No, I don't have a file on her in-house staff and how they feel about her unfortunately
00:42:09
Speaker
The only person that I have in terms of a potential lead that I would go to is her son because he would be the one that could make the biggest claim even though he's not in a political position of power.
00:42:28
Speaker
He's obviously still a marked member of the house who could easily make a play. So if Calvary wants an easy transition of power, he would have offered her son something. What's his name? His name is... It's not Rayne, right? It's just been that kind of day. Rayne Yir, cause... Secrets. Rayne Yir's secrets. That's his... Eldoran.
00:42:56
Speaker
I know he frequents a bar near their house that House Fearland also owns and operates. So if you go talk to him there, it will not go unnoticed. Yeah, but I'm sorry. Fearland probably doesn't know who I am. What's that bar called? Bar is called. Shadow bar. Grounded eagle.
00:43:29
Speaker
Also, what do you think about Hob? Shh, he's on the other line. He's on the other phone upstairs. In what capacity? Don't, don't, don't, don't. Verla, I'm here. And I was mentioning that- The friend, buddy, that sort of thing. Would likely be upset with me still for trying to get away with- Murder? Killing the guy that killed my friend's wife.
00:43:53
Speaker
Tried to kill me several times. We don't need to re-litigate that. We probably do. But she was just trying to see if you were upset with me in her own way. But we don't need to get into it over this particular phone call. So you don't want an answer? If you have an answer... He really wants an answer.
00:44:19
Speaker
Hob, I think that you are a perfectly fine person. I enjoy socially spending time with you, but you are a very big person and right now I trust you about as far as I could physically throw you. Okay, I was wondering how much size was gonna get into this. It's not very good. It doesn't sound like it. It's what I expected. You trust Milo more than you.
00:44:41
Speaker
She didn't say that all of her trust was based on throwability. She had an easy metaphor that teed up. Okay, sorry about that. The bar. No, you have an e-veil. Ooh, that's a good name. That's a good name. Fertilises. E-I-L? Like, cloth or valley? V-E-I-L. Okay. Field.
00:45:04
Speaker
Okay, thanks. Yeah, please don't do anything rash or crazy. Keep me in the loop on this. We're not planning to need to use any sort of violence to solve this problem. I'd love to hear that. Okay, I'd back you up. She doesn't trust me any farther than control to throw me and I'm very big. He didn't say that. He writes it down. Hey, as a side question,
00:45:32
Speaker
Who in the city government would need to know if there was essentially a giant bottomless pit under one of the towers? Cause that seems like real dangerous. Yeah. Sure does. Where like down in the cogs. Oh, I'll, I will run that through the city to see if we can get somebody to deal with it. Okay. All right. Thanks for the heads up. Yep. Okay.
00:46:01
Speaker
Bye. Community care shuts off. She never says bye. So that went really well, actually. Yeah, I'm excited to go talk to this guy. Who's name I didn't write down. There's wrote down her son and... Eldurin. Eldurin. Eldurin. Okay, great. At the Ebony Vale. Okay, I gotta drop off this sign and I guess the others are probably gonna show up at the bar at some point.
00:46:25
Speaker
That feels likely. Yeah. Okay. You want me to just head there? Yeah. Alright. As you all head over to Soaring Spirits...

Community Collaboration

00:46:32
Speaker
Oh, the sign is for Soaring Spirits. I was like... Take a second, yes. Walking the same direction as when you all got here. The old hobgoblin carrying two more bags of dirt down the street. Okay. I'm sorry. What if I just ask who needs a hand? Yeah, okay. Hey buddy, could you use a hand? I could take one of those off for you. Get it where you're going.
00:46:52
Speaker
He turns and... Grandfather, come on. Examines the two of you. Cool. Sorry. Grandfather, can I help you with your bag? Is it still a bag, Eris? Yeah, it's still a bag. Yes, that'd be quite nice. Here. And he walks to you and puts both of them. He gestures down the street where the street goes to the left. Follow it. You'll see the other bags. What's it for? What's going on? The garden.
00:47:23
Speaker
Oh, okay. Yes. Yeah. I've torn up all of the stones and now we need to put soil down so that the plants can take... Oh, to make the... Alright, okay. Yes. I've been cultivating... Did the gardener gonna eat it? I didn't know where that sentence was going. I've been cultivating the plants in my home and now it's time to transfer them.
00:47:43
Speaker
to the soil. Do you have more of the bags of dirt? I do. Quite a few more. Eris leans her head in and says and speaks in goblin and the bay door opens in egric. He examines egric and looks at Eris. This is egric.
00:48:03
Speaker
I appreciate the gesture, but I have no taste for your constructs. We are not going to be friends then. I prefer to use my hands in such endeavors. Oh, okay. I genuinely appreciate the gesture, but there are certain things that I view the efforts of industry as a potential shortcut that lessens the satisfaction of a job well done.
00:48:32
Speaker
If you would like to help me carry dirt, though, I would greatly appreciate it. Got it. Yeah, Eris sends Egric back into the cauldron, closes the door. Off to go put this up. Oh. Sign in. Oh. Starts to- You're the- Eris- Oh, she's the Fixer, yeah. The friendly neighborhood, um, the Fixer, right.
00:49:00
Speaker
Didn't get mad at Hob. Hob's okay with that. He's dealt with it before. Thank you for everything that you're doing here. Hope was a rare commodity not too long ago. And you seem very uncomfortable with me acknowledging your part that you played in this, so I will stop. Thank you. You're welcome. Hob takes one of the bags and extends it to heiress.
00:49:25
Speaker
so we can walk together and drop it off. I know you have to sign, I'm just kidding. Hob starts to walk down to drop those bags and he's like, no, I'm heading to meet you. Oh, before you take off, he grabs two more bags from around the corner and cheers them up and walks with you. Unfortunately, I can't do this for long, but I can get a couple more trips and it'll be out. Even a helping hand for a moment builds community.
00:49:48
Speaker
I don't live here. Would you like to? I was gonna say, where are you staying? I might be. I might be crashing in Highwall. I don't know where else. Because we said I'm not staying, it's obvious. So we joked about crashing at my own mom's house. On the halfling couch? On the halfling couch. As you walk, Durgoth does say to Aerys, you seemed upset by me refusing your construct and I want to assure you that I
00:50:15
Speaker
did not mean to undercut your work or efforts that you do in that. I understand the necessity of it in many things, but for me gardening is a therapeutic and slow process. Sure. I didn't realize that extended to carrying the dirt. That was why. He nods. It's just how I fix things with industry. And you, without acknowledging,
00:50:44
Speaker
anything other than you have done it, I've seen. I lived in Seaside in Kaya for a few years. And there was a old man, older than me, remarkably enough, who would walk to the well near the town every day to fetch water, but he did it in a clay pot tied to a rope.
00:51:09
Speaker
and he would not use the pulley. When he would carefully lower the clay pot down, gather the water and pull it back up very slowly and carry it back home. And I remember asking him why he didn't use the pulley. And he responded with, then my water would not be the sweetest tasting in Seaside.
00:51:33
Speaker
So Eris thinks that's the stupidest thing she's ever heard. But she has absorbed this ingrained
00:51:47
Speaker
general politeness towards old people. And so there's this very visible struggle on her face, not to comment on exactly how stupid she thinks that is. And it ends with, Oh, as you all were in the corner, you do see a little courtyard
00:52:08
Speaker
in between some buildings of Highwall where all of the st- not all of the stones because you'd fall through. But the first layer of stones have been torn up and rearranged to create some borders and things like that and he's been throwing- No raised gardens are Eric we say. But he's not raising- he's actually digging into the tower floor and he's dropping the bags at intervals and so he just nods Hob to where to drop them and
00:52:33
Speaker
I hope that it'll probably take a few days to get everything transferred and planted. I think the community wants to do some kind of party consecration for the garden. Yeah, I heard about that. If you all want to come. Yep, I'll be there. Are you sure? And he walks up and extends a hand to Hob.
00:52:56
Speaker
Yeah, and it's one of those very firm, he's not trying to hurt you, but he's trying to convey respect and then does, extends the same thing to Eris. Eris holds out her cyborg hand. I'm sorry, but if I shake that hand. Okay. And then you all head to soaring spirits. Yeah. And Harris scampers up the wall and.
00:53:21
Speaker
Detaches the old sign and puts up the new sign and it as soon as she hangs it it like lights up and she just holds the other side and Totally absolutely yes and just leans it against the wall I think is it this kind of place likes to hang stuff like open the bathroom This is our old side
