Speaker
Is

The Stanley Cup Frenzy

00:00:46
Speaker
that your Stanley Cup? It's my $58 water bottle. Yes, it is. Have you seen the videos of people fist fighting in line before Target even fucking opens? I haven't seen those. I just saw some video that someone shared of like, it was like- The frenzy.
00:01:03
Speaker
the frenzy of them grabbing off the shelf. I don't know what's the deal with the hot pink ones. Like that's not even that cute. Apparently it's like a special release between Starbucks and Stanley. And so people are living all the time here in Japan. Like I have a Starbucks Japan one. The thing that like blows my mind is that this isn't like a new brand. This brand has been around for like a century. Yeah.
00:01:26
Speaker
My grandpa used this brand when I was a child. I remember him having the thermos and the fucking mug. It's not something new, and it's not anything special. But what are we talking about? We're not talking about Santa. We're not talking about Santa cups. We're talking

Astrology Birth Charts

00:01:42
Speaker
about birth charts. We are. And just as a small disclaimer, my voice is a little bit better right now, but I've woke up with no voice two days in a row.
00:01:52
Speaker
and hot coffee seems to help as long as I keep drinking it. So we're gonna do hot coffee and hot tea during these episodes and hopefully I keep my voice. But if it goes out, it is what it is. We're starting 2024 strong. We were just talking about how we're either tired or sick or don't have voices on these episodes so far this year. So we're doing our best. It'll get better. It'll get better, yeah. Once I have these late nights out of the way,
00:02:23
Speaker
with this move staying up until 1am painting cabinets is not a vibe. But yeah, so we're talking about birth charts today which
00:02:32
Speaker
I feel like I know you know way more than I do on this. And you're always like, well, I don't even know that much. But I learned a lot doing this. I pulled up my birth chart and was looking at it while I was going through all the houses and stuff. So it was a learning process for me, but it was enjoyable because I was getting to compare it to my own chart as I went. So I would definitely, if you've ever done your birth chart,
00:02:59
Speaker
like while we're talking about this, if you don't really know a whole lot about it, I would pull it up and like kind of go through it as we're also like talking about the houses and stuff because I found that to also help me understand it a little bit better. So astrology

History of Astrology

00:03:13
Speaker
birth charts, which are also known as natal charts, are a map of where each of the planets were in their paths around the sun at the exact time that like each of us were born.
00:03:25
Speaker
And while you may share placements with other people, like I know people that I share the same like raising sign with, or me and my daughter Avery both share the same birthday. So, you know, a lot of people think, oh, because you have the same birthday, you're both an Aries, like you both are exactly alike, but that's not the case because everyone's birth chart as a whole is completely unique to the individual. And so it really just depends on you individually as a person,
00:03:54
Speaker
where exactly you were born and all that jazz. And to get your full birth chart, you need to know the exact time and place that you were born. Otherwise, your chart's not going to be accurate. Without knowing your birth time, you won't be able to correctly find your rising or your ascendant sign, as well as which houses each of these planets are in, where they fall within your chart.
00:04:17
Speaker
Humans have tracked the movement of planets since the dawn of civilization. An astro-style notes that as far back as 6000 BC, the Sumerians noted the transitions of the stars and the planets. Around 3300 BC, the Babylonians started to expand on this, and they developed the first astrological system, along with the zodiac wheel that we actually use today, so that was created in 700 BC.
00:04:43
Speaker
The oldest known horoscope chart is noted to date back to approximately 409 BC and I've thought it was like great. I mean obviously we know these things have been done since the dawn of time but it's so crazy when you put these numbers on it right like this is like the year that it was created and you try to like think back to like how far that is.
00:05:01
Speaker
I think for me, it makes it even crazier to see the number of how far back this actually goes. It's one thing to be like, oh, we've just always done this, to be like, no, in 6,000 BC. Yeah. One than just thinking about who was the first person to sit there and be like, actually, I've never been smart enough to come up with any sort of idea like that.
00:05:26
Speaker
Never. Me, I'm like, look at the moon. Okay.
00:05:32
Speaker
to be just a little human down on this planet, especially back then when they didn't have the technology that we have today that makes things so easy. They had to sit and just critically think through these things and do the whole scientific process, essentially. But to just be down here before this was something that was normal and looking at these planets up in the sky and be like, you know what? I think this one's affecting this.

Interpreting Birth and Transit Charts

00:06:00
Speaker
yeah wild yeah and just as for a visual i guess for and just for their explanation for the listeners you know like you were saying tiffany absolutely these next two episodes are going to work so much better if you pull up your birth chart and if you don't know where to go to do that there are many places online you can go my favorite place is astro.com and you just go in there do what tiffany said you know put in your
00:06:28
Speaker
exact birth time, location, date, and it will populate your birth chart for you and it will keep it saved in there. That way you can go back and you can always reference it. There are some different things that you can do on astro.com based on the information that you've already entered. The birth chart itself is a 360 degree wheel divided into 12 sections. Each section is named for a different astrological sign and our planets are found within the wheel based on where they were sitting at the time of our birth.
00:06:58
Speaker
Yeah, and these charts can help us understand our personalities, our strengths, weaknesses, the best times for us to like make important moves and even like when there are opportunities for growth amongst other things. And they can also give you insight into like your patterns and your preferences. And something that I came across, I found this like
00:07:19
Speaker
so interesting because it really kind of puts in perspective like what the houses are. So I read in this resource that they try to think of the houses as the landlords and the planets as the tenants within the landlord's property. So the landlord informs the goings-ons of the property, right? But the planet is actually the one that's like doing that action and living within the house.
00:07:44
Speaker
And with this analogy, when you have a house that's empty in your chart, then it's the landlord that simply takes command of the tasks of the house. And the example that they gave to put this into more perspective is, if Libra is the sign that rules your second house,
00:08:01
Speaker
you would follow Libra's planetary ruler of Venus for more information about how you would approach finances and possessions. And then you would look at your natal Venus conditions and aspects and house location for more information about how you would approach money and the value within your life. And I just I found like I read probably like five or six articles trying to like figure out
00:08:24
Speaker
like a good understanding. And it wasn't until I read this that it all just kind of like clicked. I was like, Oh my gosh, this makes so much sense now. So I thought that was a good analogy to share. Your birth chart is increasingly important at the start of a new year and on your birthday as well. And so for new years, it's suggested on Astro style that you do what they call a transit chart or a natal plus transit chart.
00:08:48
Speaker
And it's likely going to require the guidance of either a professional astrologer or somebody with extensive knowledge on this due to the complexity of it. But essentially, it just requires you to start with your own birth chart and then compare it to the moving planets or where they lie in the time of your comparison. So for this, it would be on the new year.
00:09:11
Speaker
and with that the astrologer or if you if you are like super knowledgeable in birth charts like you could probably just do this yourself but you would just compare and contrast those two charts the energies that will like be involved and then this can help you plan ahead for that year
00:09:28
Speaker
And again, you could do this on your birthday as well. But while this is something that is great to use on New Year's planning, the chart comparison could essentially be done for any dates, past and future, to compare and contrast the differences. And it might even include
00:09:44
Speaker
going in for a career move, if you're studying wedding dates, if you're trying to like book some kind of travel, really anything possibilities are endless when it comes to that. And then with your birthday, you would just be comparing your actual birthday like your actual birth chart to this year, like on your birthday this year, you would look up what the
00:10:05
Speaker
the chart looks like, like where the planets are all aligned and then compare it to your actual birth chart. And it says like doing that each year can give you insight into your, your year versus like your new year. This is like your birth year. So I found that really interesting. It's, you know, I've only ever just like looked at my birth chart and I've never really done anything because I don't, I've never learned enough to do these kinds of things on it. So it was interesting to do the research on this episode.
00:10:35
Speaker
Yeah, I think the transit stuff too. I think it's very interesting. I've never done mine either, but I do. There's a lot of really interesting astrologers on TikTok, especially, that they are really, really insightful when it comes to transit charts and just being able to not necessarily predict, but kind of
00:10:59
Speaker
they've already looked at those transits for this coming year. This is what they like see for this month or this year. And so whenever you see astrologers on social media or just wherever talking about like, okay, this year, like, for instance, like, what, like, was it Pluto was leaving Capricorn, it's going into Aquarius, like, or it already is by the time we're recording this. And yeah, it's like the, that is what they mean whenever they're talking about like,
00:11:24
Speaker
transits and stuff like this is that type of astrology. I wish I had the time to like look into these things. I feel like I don't have the time that it takes to like do that though. Yeah. It's always nice to get it on TikTok and little snippets where I'm like, Oh, okay. Yes. I love that.
00:11:45
Speaker
I wanted to add as just a side note, for any of our listeners that follow Vedic or Vedic astrology, this is calculated differently and that might be a topic for a future episode. I personally don't know much about it. We have mentioned it before in other astrology episodes.
00:12:05
Speaker
if there's something that comes up that I'm like, oh, I can like let you know this, but I don't really know anything about it. Your birth chart is very different in that type of astrology. So if you follow that, this episode probably won't be very helpful for you.
00:12:19
Speaker
But maybe that is something that we can cover in a future episode. So now that we have a little bit of background on what your birth charts are and how you figure that out, we're going to talk about the different houses.

Astrology: The First House

00:12:32
Speaker
And today we're only going to cover the first six because there are 12 houses.
00:12:36
Speaker
So we don't want, you know, seven years of one episode. So we're going to split this one into two and next week we will go into the last six. But your houses are represented by Roman numerals and they are often referred to as sectors or zones of your chart. And so kind of what we're going to do is just kind of go back and forth. Like Sam's going to cover one and I'll cover one and we'll go through them all the way through six.
00:12:59
Speaker
So the first house, the themes within the first house are really yourself, identity, and the body. The first house is really the birthplace of our identities as individuals, and it's the starting point on the path of self-discovery. The first house shows where we're brave. It shows us how we make our first impressions, how we take initiative, and how we start things. It also shows us how we interact with others,
00:13:26
Speaker
what our overall approach to life is, and it suggests the expectations we have for new beginnings. So with every house, it is linked to a different astrological sign.
00:13:38
Speaker
and the first house is intuitively linked with the fire sign of Aries. It's notorious, Aries just in general, and I am not trying to be harsh because I am an Aries, but this is just something that I know about us. We are notorious for starting things and not always following through, and that is a major theme of the first house. Not saying that if you have planets in your first house, you're never going to follow through with something, but that is just indicative of
00:14:05
Speaker
something that could happen within your first house. The work of the first house indicates the need to separate yourself from your early influences, whether that be personal, social, or cultural, and it's to help continue this journey of birthing yourself, which sounds really weird, and I realize that, but to continue to like, you know, just honor what is different about you and make sure that you're ever-evolving
00:14:31
Speaker
Physically, the first house is linked to your overall vitality.
00:14:37
Speaker
your height, weight, the shape of your jaw. And what's interesting to note here, I didn't go much into this outside of just pointing this out. So if you're looking at your birth chart and say like you found the first house and you want to know where your rising sign is, the rising sign is always located on the cusp or the starting edge of the first house. And that's of course also known as the ascendant. We've talked about the rising sign or your ascendant. In a previous episode when we talked about the big three and our first interjection too,
00:15:05
Speaker
astrology and the zodiac sign. So if you're like, what the hell is a rising sign? Go back and listen to that episode and you'll get more information on that. But if you're born with any planet in your first house, it will influence these areas of your life outside of what I've already mentioned. So outside of like yourself and identity and whatnot, it will also influence your personal image, your appearances, your attitude, the solo projects that you take on.
00:15:31
Speaker
and essentially the mask you wear whenever you are around other people and whenever you are just in any sort of environment that is not your home. And that is all about the first house.
00:15:43
Speaker
I always find it funny when we do episodes like this and we split it like, hey, I'm going to do these, you do these. The information that we gather is always so vastly different and it cracks me up. You can tell Sam is very meticulous about, okay, we're going to talk about how this relates to you, your body,
00:16:02
Speaker
like the physical like you're like this whatever what did you say like the jaw structures yeah me i'm like anyways bitches this house so does this this is how you're gonna handle it it makes me laugh so with that you're getting different information for both of us and i love it
00:16:21
Speaker
It's pretty similar though. It is, it is, but it is funny. Like I always feel like you find like, I don't know, your research is always just more thorough, I think. No. There was like one that I can't remember what episode it was, but you're like this and that. And I'm like, anyways, here's a yoga pose for this thing. And next. I don't remember what episode it was.
00:16:45
Speaker
Yes! So with that, your second house is known as the house of income, value, and possessions. The second house is ruled by the fixed earth sign of Taurus and the planet Venus, which is the planet of beauty and values. It relates to your money, self-worth, and possessions, but not necessarily like tangible objects.
00:17:11
Speaker
And if you have placements in this house, they can help you gain insight into everything that belongs to you. So for example, this can include things like money and investments, your material environment, and your inner self, your needs, your wants, and even your abilities. And the term value in the name of this house refers to both your finances and your internal values. And with its ties to Taurus, this house can help you understand how you think about and how you approach earning a living.
00:17:40
Speaker
All right, the third house. The third house, the big themes here are all about communication, cooperation, and mobility. The energy of this house relates to language, and it suggests how we flirt, banter, and make small talk with other people. I didn't look on my chart for this one, but I'm going to go out on the limb here and say that I probably have no planets in my third house because I am so bad at small talk. I'm just joking. That's just a joke.
00:18:09
Speaker
I don't know. I'm just saying. I wouldn't be surprised if having a specific or maybe having no planets in your third house would indicate that you're terrible at small talk because I am terrible at small talk. It also relates back to platonic bonds with siblings, neighbors, friends, and coworkers. This house inspires us to act
00:18:30
Speaker
quote unquote locally so someone with significant placements in the third house so your moon your son or your rising may enjoy weekend trips or staycations or maybe even on the flip side they might be in someone who enjoys planning neighborhood block parties i am not one of those people so it's also the house linked with curiosity
00:18:52
Speaker
Also, this is a sign that indicates our relationship with our gadgets like our cell phones, vehicles, and computers. It reveals the by hand activities that we do or that we're good at. This could be something like crafts, home brewing, herbalism, working on cars, woodworking, etc.
00:19:12
Speaker
and third house placements are also linked with charisma and placements depending on what you have in this house can indicate that you're good at manipulating people for your own gain and that's necessarily meant to be like in a negative way it can be but it's just whatever placements are in your third house it can indicate whether or not you are good at persuading people
00:19:35
Speaker
Further placements in the Third House can also relate back to things like blogging or podcasting or really anything that allows you to put your words out in the world at just the right time. It is linked with the air sign of Gemini and it physically rules the hands, arms, and lungs. If you were born with any planet in your Third House, it will influence these areas of your life outside of what I've already mentioned.
00:20:01
Speaker
These are also some extra ones, so like cooperation, kindred spirits, ideas, everyday interactions, and local events.
00:20:10
Speaker
So

Astrology: The Fourth House

00:20:11
Speaker
next is the fourth house, and this is known as the house of family and home life. The fourth house is ruled by the cardinal water sign of cancer and the moon, which is tied to intuition. Its focus is on family, history, traditions, and ancestry, as noted by the word home in its name.
00:20:32
Speaker
and one resource stated that this focus was on the place in which one's domestic affairs are centered. The cusp of the fourth house is referred to as the imam cheli,
00:20:45
Speaker
And it speaks to your family life, inner world, and domestic sphere. And I could be pronouncing that wrong. I looked this up last night, and there were like three different ways to pronounce it, but it seemed like the majority of people said it as e-mum-chaley. So if I'm saying that wrong, blame Google. The house sits at the bottom of the astrological wheel.
00:21:09
Speaker
And it is thought by many astrologers to be the foundation to a person's self, life, and beliefs. And this house can give you insight on how you relate to your parents or even your own children, how you'll act as a parent, real estate, what brings you a sense of security, as well as how you nurture yourself and others.
00:21:30
Speaker
Hmm, that's interesting. I have my birth chart up here and I'm just like in I Was like going through mine last night like looking through all of these Yes, so the fifth house is Known as the house of passion creativity and self-expression This is the house of a new budding romance So this includes those feelings of excitement that fills us with hope
00:21:56
Speaker
the promise of something new so like first dates or crushes that first kiss hookups things like that this is not the house of commitment though obviously it's just like that that excitement and feeling of like first love but also fertility and pregnancy can be seen in this house so you know always use protection kiddos
00:22:16
Speaker
Fifth house placements can be seen in a maximizer headspace so this is the area where say you're going to dream big and maybe budgets tend to fly out the window because you're dreaming so big and you're so excited about you know
00:22:31
Speaker
the potential of something happening. This is the house of joy and spontaneous self-expression, risk-taking, creativity, and fashion. Physically, this chart sector rules the heart and the upper back. If you were born with any planets in your fifth house, outside of what I've already mentioned with self-expression and creativity, fashion, passion, things like that, it will affect those areas of your life as well as others.
00:23:01
Speaker
related back to drama or playfulness, entertainment, so what you do for fun, celebrations, interactions with children, your childlike spirit, your stage presence,
00:23:13
Speaker
opulence and luxury, sensual and sexual exploration, your leadership style, your need for validation and praise, and ego and courage.

Astrology: The Sixth House

00:23:23
Speaker
So your sixth house is known as the House of Health, Wellness, and Daily Routine. It's also known as the House of Pets by some astrologers since your pet is part of your everyday life and I thought that was precious. The sixth house is ruled by the mutable earth sign of Virgo and Mercury, which is tied to information gathering.
00:23:43
Speaker
As the name states, it deals with health or the general condition of the body and the mind at every level and your day to day hustle. You would look to this house to gain insight into your physical health, the relationship you have with your body and your mental and emotional self, and where you experience personal growth. This house can also help you gain insight on what would be your ideal career and ways to be of service to others.
00:24:10
Speaker
That's it. That's it. It was the first six. Anyway, come back next week to hear about houses 7 through 12. Yeah. You know you want to.
00:24:23
Speaker
And in the meantime, if you have not yet gone on astro.com and pulled up your fucking birth chart, what are you waiting for? Go do that. It's really interesting. I will say that. I remember like when we first started talking about stuff, you were like, you don't have your birth chart. Do you know what time you were born? And you're like, anyways, here, log into this. And then I was like, oh, okay. Have your birth chart on my phone.
00:24:49
Speaker
on astro.com because I think at one point, yeah, because I have so many people. Let me just give you a brief. I'm not going to tell you everybody I have in here, but I'll tell you the number of people. I have 21 people's birth charts in my phone.
00:25:08
Speaker
I love this. I love this. Because I'll be talking to somebody and I'll be like, oh, when's your birthday? Oh, are you this, that, and the other? And we'll talk. And then somehow we'll get on astrology. I have just random people I've met, random coworkers. I just have my love language, I guess. I don't know.
00:25:30
Speaker
It probably gives you like a better understanding though of that person and like how they communicate versus like how to communicate with them. I mean, like going through mine, I've been like, Oh my gosh, this makes so much sense. Yeah.
00:25:46
Speaker
Yeah, definitely like if you haven't already like pull up your birth chart, because I feel like I have learned a lot just doing this research and comparing my birth chart to it. If you haven't like pull it up and go back and re listen to this episode as we're going through each of the houses, it might help you like connect some dots.
