I was literally just obsessed with making pottery and I was literally researching on YouTube, finding the best ways for myself to make pottery so it's easier for me and I was making pottery almost every single day as long as I could and during this time

I had the intention of improving my pottery, making it look better than the last one. Each piece should look better than the last one I was saying to myself. And I had that intention of improvement rather than, oh, what am I going to make today? And I had that intention of how can I improve my pottery? And this helped me so much later on because in the book Atomic Habits, it explains it the best.

make pottery because that's a big difference there you may be putting in a lot of repetitions but are you going in the intention to actually improve your pottery if you're not then you really should start doing that you should start focusing it on more how how can i improve my pottery rather than just making because this is where our voice is really going to start developing if you

Put in those intentional reps, other than just random repetitions. If you put in the intentional reps, then you are going to grow a lot more and grow a lot faster. If you don't have those intentional reps, then you're just going to have like a mindless, mindless work hour to whatever. It's just going to be mindless. And then each piece doesn't look better than the last.

So if you have that intention beforehand that what am I going to work on today? Oh, I'm going to work on my shapes today. My shapes have been a little bit lacking and I'm going to work on my shapes today. So if you focus in on that intention of trying to improve just one thing, it doesn't have to be a lot. You can just improve one thing at a time and your progress is going to stack on next on the next on next on next.
00:03:36

And that's how you're going to be able to get better at pottery. That's how you're going to develop your voice by having the intention to get better, to improve. And that's what we want. We want the intention to improve.
