Exploring AI in Pottery: Finding Your Unique Voice

What is up, Shaping Nation? This is Nick Torres here. And on this episode of Shaping Your Pottery, I'm going to be talking about how artificial intelligence can help you discover your own unique voice with your pottery. You see, recently, I started experimenting with AI, artificial intelligence. I think it's a very fascinating thing. Well, it's a very scary thing at the same time because it can take over our world pretty much and make a lot of us obsolete.

But I've been experimenting with it because it makes a lot of things easier for us as well. You know, so the first thing I started doing was I started testing out headlines for my landing pages for things that I want to really focus on. I started testing out those and I literally just put into AI the chat GPT

I put in, write me 10 headlines for this, this, this. And they spit out 10 headlines like 15 seconds later. That is absolutely crazy. And I think that is so cool because it definitely speeds things up because you can spend all that time thinking about all these different things. But if you put it in the AI, it'll give you all these different things and it'll just help you get your mind going.

I do the same thing for for characters that I'm trying to create for my own pottery. You see, I found a free app on the App Store. In the Apple App Store to help like that makes art basically. And I know a lot of you are probably saying that. Don't use artificial intelligence, only use. And by people that make handmade art.

And while I agree with that to a point, I think people are missing out on using artificial intelligence because they're scared that it's taking over. It's going to take over their life. You see, I don't think as artificial intelligence like that. I think if we change our mindset around artificial intelligence,

artificial intelligence can help us discover our own voice, help us improve our pottery, and do so many other things that can just help us out in general. You can either be scared of artificial intelligence, or you can adapt and try to use it and try to incorporate it into your pottery, into your art. It doesn't matter what you are trying to convey, artificial intelligence is going to help you come up with new ideas for your pottery. Here's what I mean.

In this app, I forget what it's called, but I was trying to create a character for my pottery because I really want to create my own superhero kit. So I basically started putting in like words. I literally just wrote a sentence. I said, create me a male comic book character with a mix of Nightwing and Moon Knight.

And then it did all its calculation things. And then like 30 seconds later, it popped me out in two images, an image of what it thinks that I want. And these images can start sparking ideas of what things I want into my own characters. And you can do the same thing for your product. Let's say you are interested into flowers. Now you could put into artificial intelligence, create me an image with flowers

or somebody holding flowers in their hand and spit out an image of somebody holding flowers. And you can use that as inspiration. Don't fear it. Use it. Be grateful for it.

Adapt to it because artificial intelligence is here and it's time to adapt with it. We as artists are definitely very sensitive creatures because we want our art to look really, really good. And I am the same.

I know it's very scary, but you can use artificial intelligence to help you build ideas, come up with new ideas for it, because let's say you are in a slump. Maybe you are making the same thing over and over again, and you don't know what to do with your pottery to make it look different, to make it start having that little, that life again. You can put into the artificial intelligence, give me pottery making ideas around making flowers.

Could you imagine all the ideas that you can have? You don't have to think of it yourself that much. And then once an image pops up, you take what you like from that image and then you put it into your own pottery. That's why I think artificial intelligence is gonna really help people start discovering their own unique voice. And it's here to stay so you can either be scared of it and never use it ever, or you can adapt and use it for your pottery to help you create pottery easier
