National Farmers Union supports status for migrant workers in Canada

In March, police announced the bust of a major international labour trafficking ring in Ontario. Earlier this year, some of the workers had contacted the Toronto-based Workers’ Action Centre for help. The organization has been providing support since, alongside the Migrant Workers’ Alliance for Change. Some of the workers had been sent to work on farms, something that concerns the National Farmers Union. The NFU passed a resolution at their convention in November 2022, pledging to support migrant-led movements to win full and permanent immigration status for all migrants, including undocumented people.
