It's not going to be a flash in the pan. It's not something that we can just hope goes away. And so the question becomes for us as Christian educators is how do we prepare our students to think with discernment and with wisdom?

AI is changing every aspect of our world, including Christian education. As I look for resources, I didn't find many resources having to do with AI and Christian education.

There's some, but it's still largely an unexplored topic. And so I had it on my heart to go ahead and start the AI Christian Educators Guide podcast, so that we would have resources to use as we go forward as Christian educators.

Because the fact of the matter is is that faith and technology can exist, that the the people of God for years have used technology to spread the gospel.

In many ways, technology, whether it's state the internet or AI, is just a tool that that can be used by christian educators to help educate the students that parents have given them stewardship over during this time when they are in their classrooms to help them to thrive to become all that god intends them to be for us as followers of jesus and new technology this is not our first rodeo In fact, you can go all the way back to the printing press, and you will find that new inventions, new technology has come that has been utilized by the church for the furtherance of the gospel, for the growing of the kingdom.
Biblical Worldview on AI

More recently, we had the dawn of the internet, which admittedly brought its difficulties, brought its challenges, has a dark side to it, but it has also been utilized again.

for the good of the kingdom. So too with AI. We don't have to run. We don't have to hide. We don't have to cower in fear. This too can be redeemed for the Lord.

So faith and technology can coexist. In the Christian school context, the Bible is our lens. We come at AI and everything else through a biblical worldview.

And so it's important for us as educators, that we recognize we have a unique responsibility to these students that are in our classrooms to prepare them to use all the tools at our disposal to help them to grow in their knowledge, but also in wisdom and discernment and in cooperation with God's grace and their parents and their church to help them grow spiritually.
Challenges and Opportunities of AI

I wholeheartedly believe that AI could be a tool to help us to do that. I know there's challenges. There's always challenges, right? Many people think, oh gosh, AI.

One more thing. One more thing. Many people think, I am already maxed out in my time. Or I have heard all of the negative things about AI.

Yeah, there's challenges, but there's always challenges. Our job as Christian educators is to overcome those challenges and to redeem technology and tools for the betterment of our students, equipping them so that they can be all that God has called and intends them to be.

I want to assure you that if you are just starting out in AI, you don't have to be a tech expert. You just need to begin. You see, when it comes to AI, there's often few different responses.

One is to stick your head in the sand and hope it goes away. We know that that's not feasible for us as Christian educators. The second response is to go gung-ho. Say, wow, this stuff is great.

How can I learn it in three days? That's just not feasible either. But a third way, a more practical way, is to experiment. It is to use our wisdom and discernment as Christian educators, grounded in biblical truth, being Christ-centered, to use AI in such a way that is responsible, ethical, and brings the most good for our students and for our world.
