DailySaintsPod: Speaking of which, it is today your host, Zak. uh in the host chair today to try and get over some of these technical issues we've got. As always, joined by the illustrious, wonderful...

DailySaintsPod: Excellent co -host. rock of the technological side of this podcast clearly uh mr greg how do you doing mate right

Greg: Yeah, I'm alright, mate. Look, I don't claim to be a wizard, but I can... I can load up Clip Champ when need be. It's good.

DailySaintsPod: yeah Still, look, you've done a pretty good job, I'd say. for fascinating things i've seen on this this side of the fence that i never usually do you can get a teleprompter with the software we use Crazy.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: But you're not here to hear.

Greg: As you can tell by our structures and episodes, we don't use that feature.

DailySaintsPod: Who? No, su no that's that's not true. We do have notes. We just usually end up not using them properly. You know, it's we were far more chaotic for that. But obviously, we're here to talk about... our game against Birmingham City. you know Off the back of what I can only say is a five -star performance at the weekend against Millwall, we go on to... you know

DailySaintsPod: go come up against a side that are in a bit of bit of a weird place, right? But, you know... Before we get to all of that, obviously there's been...

Greg: but I don't think that's a very nice way to talk about the Midlands, if I might say.

DailySaintsPod: Look, anything we've been through this before. Anything north of Oxford is is too far north for me. uh

Greg: if

DailySaintsPod: That's really disrespectful. I've got lots of friends up north and in the Midlands. I just feel like you're taught to say that as a southerner. We've obviously... recording on bank holiday monday where the it's just been a roller coaster of transfer information so we're not really going to talk a huge amount about it mainly due to the fact that That is just.

DailySaintsPod: It's too hard to keep up with. We started the day with one centre -back target.

Greg: Just gonna...

DailySaintsPod: We're ending the day with a completely different centre -back target. There was at least three in between. Some people have gone out. Sugawara is out the door. Taylor Harwood -Bellis is probably out the door.

Greg: Yeah. Just gonna have to do our best mate to do exactly what the squad are gonna have to do and try and shut out as much of that noise as possible and remember that there's a game of football to be played.

Greg: you know?

DailySaintsPod: well it depends if you're a member of the squad that's potentially going out, right? And I'm hoping that the ones that we pick aren't going to be people that are leaving, mainly because some of them have just joined us.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: but yeah so birmingham city greg do you know what their last couple of games were like or not really

Greg: Uh... No, not really. To be honest, they're they're they're not. Having a great time, though, aren't they? I think... I think I watched some of their game against Wrexham. They beat them.

Greg: Right.

DailySaintsPod: Yes, they did.

Greg: I'll watch the end of it.

DailySaintsPod: They did. They beat them 2 -1, but that was after... crashing out in the League Cup in a much worse way than us. And I say that because they they got... they got battered by Brentford 6 -1. So whilst we did lose 4 -1 to West Ham, that couldn't have been nice. And their previous championship games were a draw against Bristol City and a 0 -0 draw against Sheffield United. So obviously they got...

DailySaintsPod: a win against a team they came up with last year a team that they would be considered to be, I guess, promotional... rivals with right you had them much higher than I did last season because I think that, you know, Wrexham had the money to invest.

Greg: Good.

DailySaintsPod: but they've They've done okay. We struggled a little bit against them. and our second game last season. Do you remember when we played them last season, Greg? How much do you remember about that?

Greg: Uh...

Greg: Precisely zero. way, if I want to.

DailySaintsPod: it

Greg: They've all become such a blur.

DailySaintsPod: don't Don't worry, i will I will educate you. So our first game against them was during sort of this... like renaissance period for us. We beat them 3 -1.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: So this was this was with a a back five of Stephens, Wood and Harwood -Bellis in the middle. Manning and Fellows you know fellows in his natural right -back position. A midfield with of Jander Downes.

DailySaintsPod: Azaz, Scienza and Armstrong, which, like quite frankly... It's going to be a pretty, probably, I imagine, similar team. Right.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: By the fact that Adam Armstrong doesn't play for us anymore. But Finnazaz scored a goal and Arma scored another two. They managed to claw one back in the 54th minute. But, you know, that was just how it was.

DailySaintsPod: And they we they were the team, if you remember, we played them twice in December.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: So we we played them and then like a couple of weeks later, we just...

Greg: That's right. Yeah, it was all class. because I've just looked at the result of the other game, and it can't quite be real, because it's saying that... Jelert assisted Cameron Archer and I just...

Greg: that None of that exists in my memory at all.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, I genuinely can't properly remember this, to be honest.

Greg: Peace.

DailySaintsPod: I remember us drawing Angus Birmingham, that's about it. A very similar setup for the team. You had Azaz, Armstrong, Manning, Fellows in his natural right -back position, Jander in downs in the middle, Stephens, Wood and Harwood -Bennis with, of course, Bozunu in goal.

DailySaintsPod: And then, yeah, Jelert came on for Fellows in the 58th minute. Cienza came on for Jay Robinson in the 58th minute. And Cam Archer came on for Adam Armstrong in the 68th and managed to score pretty quick. Cam Brad came on in that game as well. i did matzki so it was a yeah a bit of a weird one but obviously that was how we managed against them last season.

DailySaintsPod: So we're coming into this season with, we've got nine goals scored. They have four, admittedly five of those goals on our last game.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: But we're feeling we're feeling pretty good, right? Like we've had a we've had an all right week. It was, you know, when lost win, loss, win.

DailySaintsPod: one of the losses wasn't really a real loss.

Greg: Yeah, it's Cup game.

DailySaintsPod: We've had...

Greg: We don't really count it. It's just win -win. Uh, Cup doesn't matter, mate.

DailySaintsPod: We've had a lot of disruption. We've had a lot of disruption, right? And I'm not saying that two, three days is a lot of time to recover. You know, today's been a bank holiday and I had, I don't know how your day was, but I had a bit of a weird day where I spent a lot of my time.

Greg: absolutely surreal. Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: A lot of my time up going into Eastleigh, today was the Eastleigh Elder Shop match, which is considered to be a bit of a rivalry. It's a local rivalry for anyone that's not paid much attention to that, which meant that there was an incredibly large police presence. By that, I mean, I've never seen probably in my life more than about five police officers at once unless I was in London. And I saw about 20 at Eastleigh's train station. I assumed some sort of horrific accident that happened. And then when I walked past the station pub and saw about four 13 -year -old boys.

DailySaintsPod: what it looked like with flags around them. clearly what was the away designated pub i realized why and then i walked past the mystery machine and realized that something was definitely going on and then i also walked past the lamborghini and it turns out it was uh you told me it was the easley end of summer festival right

Greg: Yep.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: And that will also resulted in it being a Port Solent car meetup, classic car meetup. I never got the dumplings that I looked for in five various different supermarkets.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: But I came back and I was like, man, that's weird. I'm just...

Greg: that

DailySaintsPod: if any of the players have had anything like the day I have, it's going to throw you off for going into work tomorrow. And, you know, it depends.

Greg: yeah well I mean...

DailySaintsPod: I i imagine that if they've trained, they'll be giving the day off.

Greg: It's not. It's hard to see it as a normal match day when it is... literally deadline day as well like it's such a strange scenario the idea that What? I'd like to think that the players that we're actually taking in our squad...

Greg: are settled enough at this point that we're not going to be having any crazy shenanigans, right? But also...

DailySaintsPod: It would be a bit weird to have...

Greg: As...

DailySaintsPod: Players like, come on. And then... go off and then have to run off to sign a contract.

Greg: and But it's it's also right, like, not... Completely out of the possibility where you, you know, presumably they've traveled up today. and stay overnight. but there's you know potentially some of the squad who have traveled up might actually travel from Birmingham to go somewhere else and do a medical.

Greg: as part of tomorrow, right? So it's...

DailySaintsPod: Well, that might be true.

Greg: It's not normal, is it? That's not a normal day that you can prepare yourself for.

DailySaintsPod: No, I think that's the, again, it's the... the issue we've constantly raised of having the window open so late is that, you know, As we've already said, that was...

DailySaintsPod: ridiculous movement today we've gone through a range of various different names for centre -back i think the current one that's running is 20 year old zach habit from new

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: Nottingham City, who potentially we might get on. you loan with an option to buy I don't know whether that's going to be the same bit of information in two hours time, because three, four hours ago, it was another German fella.

Greg: Look. But this is what I'm saying about... happen. That's what I'm saying mate, this is the other thing about having to try and shut it out because whoever it is is it going to be playing tomorrow night or tonight you know so we got a game to focus on you got to try and as hard as it is put all of that to the back of your mind and think

DailySaintsPod: Bye.

Greg: you know Who are we putting on the pitch tonight? this This game is as important as any other. what what we're going to do to get those three points.

DailySaintsPod: Who are we going to put on the pitch then?

Greg: And I guess... like

DailySaintsPod: That's what we got a be should probably discuss.

Greg: in In one regard. obviously birmingham are in the same boat right like less so because they're at home makes it potentially a bit less disruptive but also You know, they're also going to be potentially having players in or players out.

Greg: Who knows? is

DailySaintsPod: Do you think they're stripping their squad as much as we are, though?

Greg: It's a crazy one.

DailySaintsPod: That's the big big thing, right? we've got We've got far more outs than ins. You've still got people crying out for... people talking about needing a winger offers rejected for a dozy there's so much chaos going on again if we would It would be a transfer episode and not a match preview if we decided to talk about all of it.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: But I don't know if because of the amount of outgoings we supposedly might have by tomorrow. or or this evening if you're listening to this on Matchday, which you will be. because schedule it for the next day it's just so there's so much chaos and i just don't

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: I think with us specifically you're right there's going to be Whoever is brought is not going to be involved in any of that. they might bring somebody up for a closer look.

Greg: but look like yeah we we know We know that we're going to have a core squad of about 15 players who...

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: There are no question marks over.

DailySaintsPod: Okay.

Greg: Does that mean that... Does that mean... the getting into pretty clients that Jack Stephens starts because playing you know a brand new striker twice in three days despite the excellent performance is a big ask. it I don't know. that's That's one of the questions that we'll have to answer.

DailySaintsPod: I really hope he's not playing striker, mate, but I did know that you meant centre -back.

Greg: Okay.

DailySaintsPod: Just clarifying that.

Greg: Yeah.

Greg: I mean we've seen some crazy things on the football pitch you never know

DailySaintsPod: but Look, Joe Aribo once started at centre -back, so the problem is is I need to make sure I clarify what we're saying, because that is a thing that once happened.

Greg: Yes, sir.

Greg: But yeah, so... But yeah, right like look, Peretz isn't going anywhere. He's going to be in goal. We know that.

DailySaintsPod: Night, Prince will be in go.

Greg: okay The other goalkeepers may be not here, may be here. It doesn't matter because it's not. In that. zoa focus on the pitch.

DailySaintsPod: It's going to be George Long because George Long signed a contract with us.

Greg: Bye. The centre -backs are going to be...

DailySaintsPod: he's going to be the backup.

Greg: set The centre -back is going to be... eight Two of the three of. Stephens would. and uh Schlotterbeck right two of them are going to play Schlotterbeck's just arrived, isn't going anywhere.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: Stevens isn't going anywhere. Wood's not going anywhere.

DailySaintsPod: f

Greg: Settled, focused, fine.

DailySaintsPod: Yep.

Greg: You know, Hardwood -Bellis may or may not be here when the window is shuts. We don't know. Probably not is what we're seeing now. That's fine. But it doesn't matter. He's not going to be in the squad either way because...

DailySaintsPod: nine

Greg: How can you focus with that level of unrest? James Bree, just signed a new contract, is going to be starting it right back. Ryan Manning. Uh, is...

Greg: Does he even bid linked anywhere? I doubt it very much. He's going to be starting the left back.

DailySaintsPod: if If he was ever going to be linked to anywhere, mate, it would probably be back with Russell Martin and Leicester. And considering that you know he's quite local to us and you know he's been...

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: frequently seen around where we live quite often. i He doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that's just going to disappear out of nowhere unless something crazy comes in.

DailySaintsPod: So I don't really see him moving. We heard rumours about Wellington really early on, but have had nothing since then at all.

Greg: Exactly.

DailySaintsPod: so And we're going to need a backup left back.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: And we haven't looked to fill that position with anyone else.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: So I think that will probably be him.

Greg: Now as we move up.

DailySaintsPod: Rorislav has come back from injury as well.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: So he's going to be the other right back because Suguwara is on his way out.

Greg: Yeah. And as we move up the pitch...

DailySaintsPod: Yep.

Greg: This is where we get maybe some question marks because.

DailySaintsPod: Mm hmm.

Greg: Is Flynn Downes going to be able to start? I mean, we know or or we've heard for Alfie that it wasn't. concussion protocol that he went off with it was just uh, a broken skull that he was bleeding from.

Greg: So apparently that's not the same thing. Who knows? But...

DailySaintsPod: What the fuck?

Greg: So he's...

DailySaintsPod: where they just really just come out with a mummy head wrap like that's the we've seen it once or twice before.

Greg: Yeah. So he's potentially eligible to play, but... Who knows? But does that mean we see... James Ward -Prowse start.

DailySaintsPod: Wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if we see James Ward -Prowse and Bragg. I think Jander is still off it.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: That's what they kind of key. the There's lots of question marks around working him back and who knows, he could be in for a move and that might be why. I don't like to think that. That's kind of very conspiratorial.

Greg: I feel like if he was, we'd have heard more about it by now.

DailySaintsPod: I don't think so.

Greg: But, uh...

DailySaintsPod: Mate, last day of the transfer window, anything can happen. We've been linked with people we weren't linked with a couple of hours ago.

Greg: Blah.

DailySaintsPod: so

Greg: But either way. Bragg, Walprouse, are they able to cover the 90 between them?

DailySaintsPod: Yep.

Greg: Do we maybe see Matsky drop back into that role, either as a starter or as a...

DailySaintsPod: Probably.

Greg: as the rotation. I don't know. These are the options that... presumably we're going to have them a play with.

DailySaintsPod: Yep.

Greg: Azaz. presumably starts. I mean, I presume you start. at least as as and Scienza.

DailySaintsPod: Yes.

Greg: And maybe Fellows, because it seems a bit crazy to break that form.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, and like, you know, you're considering how how happy he was, why would she why would you break it?

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: There have obviously quite been question marks. I think we've rejected a bunch of bids for a dozy, so I'd expect to see potentially him in the matchday squad as as an option, if you know if not.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: we're probably going to...

Greg: Maybe not starting, but maybe getting minutes towards the end.

DailySaintsPod: maybe not starting, but maybe come on. maybe maybe we see Dobbin tomorrow as well i wouldn't be surprised if he's around

Greg: Yep.

DailySaintsPod: and then overseas

Greg: Do we... Are we in full Saturday -Tuesday mode now? Do you think we get Mubama starting? and Larin coming on off the bench.

DailySaintsPod: OYS think that if Larins fit, he starts because I think that if he starts and he's fit, he scores. And if he scores, that carries on that streak, right?

Greg: Yeah. Just... if he can score a hat -trick in 45 minutes, he gets the second half off.

DailySaintsPod: i I really enjoyed being like, well, why didn't he get like you know why' he let him stay on for his hat trick?

Greg: Isn't that what we're going with?

DailySaintsPod: He knew how much time he had on the pitch and he didn't do it, so it was on him. Which was just, quite frankly, what you'd expect.

Greg: it That's amazing.

Greg: That is perfect.

DailySaintsPod: Absolutely perfect. So, yeah, I think if Laren's fit enough, he starts. Mubama knows he's an understudy. Does he? play less than he did Saturday because of the fact that, you know, he played Saturday probably.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah. I think we we might not see Cam Archer in the squad, another one that's been heavily linked with moves here, there and everywhere and seems to be potentially someone that could just be off to a random named club we've never thought that he might end up at.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: Say... you know that's thus That's us run through a lot of the players, mate.

Greg: yeah so that's it right it's it's a squad not necessarily picked through like formal fitness, although it is, it's our first choice 11, right? But pick through stability.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: And then, you know, if there are going to be changes to that. that starting core of players. That's something we're going to have to handle after the fact because... it's You know, we've got a whole, what, three days to sort that out until our next game. so Just uh...

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, but but by that point, like we may might start retraining Ramsdale as a central midfielder.

Greg: Bit of crazy.

DailySaintsPod: or If he's still here. Because he's going to be third choice if he's still here. So there's there's that is you're right. that The problem with trying to pick the team for today and also not talk about the transfers is that...

DailySaintsPod: we kind of have to rule out everyone that's potentially not been massively heavily linked to a transfer.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: I like it.

Greg: But look, that's but that's exactly what they're going to be doing. right You're not going to be picking a squad. that is going to be expecting any sort of dis... this settlement or or anything like that you're going to be wanting to

DailySaintsPod: Night.

Greg: try and create as much focus on the the game as you can to try and build and prepare in you know in as much as you can over the... three days you have to to roll it. and This is the the problem, right? Because it's such a strange... place.

Greg: for a game deadline day. it's there is a concern that it starts to feel a bit disjointed and maybe like a cup match and I mean in recent history cup feeling matches on a Tuesday night haven't gone that well.

DailySaintsPod: No, but... it wasn't It wasn't so long ago that we said we didn't like a midweek game, Greg. Like... For the beginning of last season, we were like, oh, we always tend to do worse at midweek games.

DailySaintsPod: Then all of our midweek games became the games like the Leicester game.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: and And, you know, the manic recordings late night, which instead of when during the Premier League season, which were like, I'm so glad I'm up until 11 .30, recording a podcast about us losing 3 -4 -5 -0 to miscellaneous team. Isn't it great we only conceded two?

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: to, you know, just elation last season with you know quite high scorelines or we know when we first beat QPR after Tonda came in and stuff like that, right? So...

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: you know I don't know if it's going to have the cup match feeling. I think that the players that would have been picked are players that are staying and they're players that know... what the objective is right where you know we need to make sure we continue to put points on the board we've already taken overtaken some of what we consider to be league winning rivals, right?

Greg: Absolutely.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: And, you know, we're...

Greg: Love. I think once we get to the point of the episode where we get a score prediction, she's going to understand that I was just trying to create a bit of tension more than actually being too worried or concerned. but But, I mean...

Greg: Birmingham are not a team that we should be overlooking either, right?

DailySaintsPod: good

Greg: They've got some... Some potentially... threatening attacking force, right? Damari Gray is a player who has has a good time against us historically, if I recall. And.

Greg: Jay Stanton. same right so I don't know. not Not to completely look bad.

DailySaintsPod: Well, I don't know. he's I've seen some criticism of him recently and him missing sitters and stuff like that. So again, it's like we they're coming up against us with the the most informed striker in the entirety of the league.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: And, you know. I think that that is going to be a struggle. The the big problem where we've got is to get past that sort of, we we don't want it to take 20 minutes to warm up. We don't want to go.

DailySaintsPod: down. against a team. at their backyard, right? uh

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: And that's the long and short of it. This is going to be a bit of a, I think that. We don't. wanna be too overconfident. I know you're probably going to predict something wild. But like...

DailySaintsPod: We struggled against Millwall for that first 15, 20 minutes, right?

Greg: Would I do that?

DailySaintsPod: we We did.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: And we went a goal down. And then I said, all of we hit form all at the same time. Now people's form drops off at different levels and different rates. We've just got to hope it continues going on into...

DailySaintsPod: you know, into today and hopefully. None of the players will be distracted by everything going on behind the scenes. You know, there'll be some of them who are good friends with one another and now things will be actually confirmed and people go in and, you know.

DailySaintsPod: like with sugawara out the door that means mattski's lost his like summer pow right like there there is going to be probably i i've read a little bit of distraction so it's making sure that you know We try and ignore as much of it as possible.

DailySaintsPod: and go out there and hopefully score early. but not so early enough that we score and start doing nothing because that's also what we're guilty of. So what we're actually asking for is a...

DailySaintsPod: consistent performance.

Greg: so

DailySaintsPod: Or, as I said yesterday... Go 1 -0 down, but then score like five goals. That's fine. I'm fine with that.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Okay.

Greg: Yeah, i just look I just think that... I think that consistency is a difficult thing to ask of a team in... the literal midst of the chaos of a a deadline, literal deadline day. It's baffling to me that they even have games.

Greg: Honestly. It's such a strange...

DailySaintsPod: Well, it's not that, again, it's it should be closed early on.

Greg: piece of scheduling

DailySaintsPod: Like the fact we're like, what? three or four, or this game four.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: into the yeah it's just it's just mental and like the whole the point

Greg: This is game five

Greg: Oh. Four of the league, yeah. Okay, yeah, yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, so game game four of the league and it's like we're still, window isn't, you know. isn't closed and you know we've gone through the and this is again where we're going to have all those weird stats where when we look back at like the the game from the first game of the season and be like... Wait, Ben Brereton Diaz played for us? Like, it's...

DailySaintsPod: it's just I just wish it was all done and dusted beforehand. And again, that's always going to be the case.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: If you close it before the league opens, you don't have any of this because a lot of the reason that all of this starts happening is because everyone leaves it to the last minute of deadline day. Right. And we know that.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: because of the way the different chains work now. And like, you know, the Premier el League clubs will do what they want. and buy people for ridiculously large amounts of money but then that's the other thing is that do you keep it open and close it with the premier league as well do you have it separate for different leagues if you have that does that cause problems for ins and outs it's just All I know is that I hate it.

Greg: Mmm.

DailySaintsPod: It's just... So infuriating, right? It means that, you know, we've started off and we're like, oh, we're going to win the league. This is going to be the best team we have. Oh yeah, Taylor Harwood -Bellis is going to be great. And then it's obviously like, oh no, he's not going to stay.

DailySaintsPod: Oh, you though he's definitely staying now. The Club Bruges guy that Aston Villa wanted. Oh, has now gone to Palace. Well, I guess he's going. Oh, they've put a bid in. Oh, it's finally even reached the valuation. Okay.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: And we're just there like, cool, can we... try and pick a team out of any of the players we actually have that are going to stay.

Greg: Crazy. It's bad enough for us sat here trying to talk about it, let alone the players and managers having to deal it with it. and Least of all for poor old Alfie who's got to, like, try and decide whether to stay at home and cover transfers or go to the game and cover the game or or go to the game and try and do both.

DailySaintsPod: well that's why you have two mate don't you that's why you have two journalists to make sure And I'm sure we'll keep, we'll see all of the updates.

Greg: Right. Crazy.

DailySaintsPod: It's why I'm doing my best. Cause I'm starting to see like. tweets left right and center sort of like oh but don't we need another root winger who do you think is coming in any deal was done any deal was done and what's happening in adam it's like oh

Greg: We're just going to... Just going to ignore all of it and then on Thursday we'll have a a nice calm talk once everything's over and we know where everybody...

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: is right it's It's going to be fine.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Pretty much. Obviously, so to try and once again...

Greg: Do you...

DailySaintsPod: DeRoss back on course for the game and not the transfers that we promised we wouldn't talk about and have yet talked about for probably about half the episode without naming names for some reason. What's your score prediction, Craig?

DailySaintsPod: I'm going to start off with you for a change.

DailySaintsPod: Come on.

Greg: Yeah. All right. Well...

DailySaintsPod: Allows you to do 2 -1 if you want it, though.

Greg: Well, that is what the data says, although it it it it it actually gives it as a 100 % chance for both teams to score.

DailySaintsPod: Oh fuck.

Greg: which is insane how it could... be as confident as that, I don't know. but

DailySaintsPod: but Because the last two games that we've played against them in last season with very similar squads had goals from both sides.

Greg: Hmm. Yeah. And back in 2024, it was a 4 -3.

DailySaintsPod: That's why.

Greg: Crazy. I think... 4 -0 Saints.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah?

Greg: Yeah. I'm just...

DailySaintsPod: Right, okay.

Greg: Look, we're just going to ride this high. We're going to just... Keep rolling. We're going to keep as if the whistle didn't even blow on Saturday. We're going to come. We're going to be full of confidence. We're going to rock up. We're going to score a couple of early goals.

Greg: Then we'll we'll get another couple in the second half. call it a day and Yeah. Easy as that, innit?

DailySaintsPod: Easy as that apparently, although I do.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Right, do I go...

Greg: I guess let's put names on the goals. Let's have a a Kyle Lahren goal, a Sienza goal. It is as goal. And... a James Breaker, someone a bit weird.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: It's not a cup game, mate. James Brees is not allowed to score. Surprised she didn't say Tom.

Greg: All right, then. Prowse. Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Surprised she didn't say Tom. Surprised you didn't say Tom Fellows You shouldn't have to say that now. like

Greg: No, I'm not. I'm not predicting it again. I can't recast.

DailySaintsPod: Look. it's fine alright it might just be that he ends up being like Shane Long where he scores once a year and it's fine because all the other work he does off the ball

Greg: As long as he keeps getting as many assists as he did last season, no one really minds.

DailySaintsPod: there you go it doesn't matter does it

Greg: It's fine.

DailySaintsPod: it's like you know it's the fact that Shane Long was actually a striker supposedly like yeah yeah but Okay, so I'm going to go... probably like 3 -1. The fact that you seem to think we're going to keep a clean sheet still.

DailySaintsPod: Until we have whatever proper centre -back pairing we need, we've still got a mistake in us, right? We've still got a, we didn't track back properly. You know, Manning got caught.

DailySaintsPod: Something like that is bound to still happen. and I can see it.

Greg: Yeah, but look, we can... we can ride our luck one one of these times we can just get lucky and not concede. It doesn't have to be a convincing clean sheet. You know me?

DailySaintsPod: that's fine you believe that it's today I believe that it's not so 3 -1 where are my goals coming from

Greg: Yeah. That's fine.

DailySaintsPod: uh Let's go Larin Hattrick. Why not? See something crazy.

Greg: Love it.

DailySaintsPod: Push out or push the boat out.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Okay.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Watch him not start or play.

Greg: Yeah. Right, it's fine. Mubama will come on and score a hat -trick instead and we'll all be buzzing off of that because then we've got two decent strikers that we're perfectly happy with, right?

DailySaintsPod: Fine by that too. Fine with. Fine with. Any Saints win is what I'm fine with, mate.

Greg: Yeah. Absolutely.

DailySaintsPod: Looking forward to it. It's going to be good. and then Somehow we'll have to do a post -match review very late at night whilst also trying to pay attention to whatever the transfer window is doing.

Greg: No, we won't.

DailySaintsPod: Because...

Greg: we'll just we' just be having We'll just be talking about the match. The transfer window is just going to be in the background.

DailySaintsPod: It's kind of w - Thanks. Because this is what we would do. This is also when the where where the window closes. It's usually when we do our manic, like the transfer windows closing episode.

Greg: Late night. Transfer episode, yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Oh, what time? Wow. I believe that is all we have for today. slightly more on time than usual because I have not been able to interrupt Greg trying to keep time and actually trying to keep time myself has helped. But... whoever's going up.

DailySaintsPod: Safe travels. Enjoy yourself. Hopefully we get a Saint to win. And we we're on all the social medias. We're on Facebook, we're on Twitter, we're on YouTube, we're on Instagram. We're on TikTok. Our social media has taken a bit of there a presence has taken a bit of a hit the last couple of days just because of technical issues that Greg has sorted out to make sure the episodes have at least gotten out.

DailySaintsPod: But that should be hopefully back to normal soon. If not... There we are.

Greg: Just praise to backups because they they're the saving grace.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Look, just pray that we're... be happy Praise and be happy that... We are tech savvy enough to be able to fix most of these problems in post.

DailySaintsPod: But until we join you in a crazed state after a... a win or loss or Come with me. uh Have a wonderful morning, afternoon, evening. And we will see you for that match review.

Greg: Come on, you saints.

DailySaintsPod: Wee.
