Introduction of the Game and Players

Speaker
D20 Radio, your game is roll.
00:00:47
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Ever on Remington. As we play podcasts at the Ever on Campaign Setting, I'm your Game Master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. Welcome to another episode.

Recap of Previous Events

00:00:56
Speaker
Gentlemen, what happened last time? Talking. Yeah, we talked. Lots of talking. Yeah, got new armor, got new information. You commissioned new armor. You don't have new armor yet, importantly.

Leads on Calvair's Plots: Confusion Over Armor

00:01:08
Speaker
For some reason, I really, in the back of my head, thought, I'm going to use the word commission, but Eric's going to do something about it. And you did. You said something. We were very successful at finding leads on how to expose Calvair to Fearlyn and his nefarious plots. I actually did very little talking. I'm excited to be here, nonetheless. I'm glad. We're excited to have you, Jeff.
00:01:39
Speaker
prove it also hobbit verla not cool not just new trust you as far as i can throw you of course i lied to you about the murder i did i lied about other stuff not important stuff just unpacking that said that murder was not important to verla what what do you mean emotionally personally that was work

Eris and Hob at Soaring Spirits

00:02:09
Speaker
Work murders are different. Where we left off, Eris and Hob were walking into soaring spirits probably from a timeline standpoint Milo and Reynard wouldn't be too terribly far behind but as you two walk in
00:02:30
Speaker
It's, you know, getting to be close ish. It's like early dinnertime, probably around 5 30 or so. That sign. You're not here yet. And it seems to be relatively crowded. People are in here. They're chatting, having drinks. Some people are seated, having, having food. Jordan sees you all walk in and waves like, Hey, welcome back. Hello.
00:02:59
Speaker
table down here you headed upstairs does it matter which is less populated upstairs is always gonna be a little less populated upstairs upstairs okay great just pick a table up there and I'll be up there in a second this way you can dramatically leave out the window at some point
00:03:18
Speaker
As you all are walking through, you hear Jorlin turn back to a conversation he's having with a patron and they're complaining to him about the lack of seafood options on the menu.
00:03:31
Speaker
And there's, I'm from a coastal region of Khair and like seafood was a big thing. So I was hoping that you all would have some seafood here. It's very sorry. Wow, what a jerk. Yeah, Berlin's just trying to talk down the customer and encourage them to order something off of the menu. Let's call the force sales. And then as you all get upstairs, Reynard, Milo, you hop out of your cab and walk towards, and now you see.

Reynard's Observations and Sign Interaction

00:03:57
Speaker
Now, Reynard, look, he's got a new sign.
00:04:02
Speaker
Does it actually have wings that move? How much would you bet that is the handiwork of Eris? It seems a little flashy for her, honestly. Possibly. Flashy in the way that it's not going to hurt anyone. It looks classy though, I would say it looks very classy. Definitely it's not classy. It is very flashy, that fancy, and it might hurt someone.
00:04:31
Speaker
Shall we go in? I hope that I'm the old one in the bathroom. You can definitely see it leaning against the outside of the building. It's right there, shall I grab it? Let's do it for them, yeah.
00:04:43
Speaker
So Milo walks in holding the sword spirit side. I'm putting it in the bathroom, Milo. Did you tick down my sign? Milo? No, it was laying outside. Why do you have it? It's laying outside against the wall. There's one hanging up. A nice one. Very nice. What? We thought we'd hang this one in the restroom. As you all are standing near the door, he walks past you and says, huh, I didn't do that. Looks good though, doesn't it?
00:05:13
Speaker
Yeah, it looks really good. Just, it's my sign. Yes, might as well put this one in the bathroom and take it for a month. Excellent idea. And you all, not spotting Aeris or Hob downstairs, can probably deduce that they are upstairs. They're not here yet, or they're upstairs. Let's go check upstairs. The fixer? Should we just yell the fixer? That's totally up to you. I'm in slightly better graces, so I better not.
00:05:43
Speaker
Up we go. I will tell all of you, I almost said good or graces. So for the alliteration. You told everyone now. Yeah. As you all get seated, Milo and Reynard come up the stairs and head towards you. There, there is a smattering of people up here. It's a busier time. Sure. Yeah. In fact, nearby at one of the tables, you see a female gnome at the playwright that you've spotted before the Lyra Silver Quill sitting with Aemon, your librarian.
00:06:13
Speaker
acquaintance. Oh no. Oh no. But they're just sitting and having a chat. So Milo Raynard, you spot Eris and Hob easily enough. And we go sit down. Nice handiwork there. Eris, I like the sign.
00:06:31
Speaker
Oh yeah. To who learned anything. Jordan approaches like, drinks? I'm in this pose because I was going to slap the file down on the table. Raynard's definitely frozen in this pose. With a file halfway out of his satchel. Ah. You can still order drinks. Yes. Did I come in a bad time? No. Oh, it's fine. I don't know what's happening here. Set these, wait a minute on this, wine.
00:07:01
Speaker
What kind of wine? Just a glass. Kind. Red. Red. Okay. Glass. Kind. Glass. This happened to you. Forgot how to drink. Do you know what the morning's embracing again? You've got enough to start right now. All right. Unfortunately for everyone now. I'll get you a high wall's heart warmer. Drink. Eris fixer.
00:07:28
Speaker
I think Jorland has called you Eris before. Do you have a drink? Name the fixer? You should. Oh, that's a good idea. Man, maybe something like a screwdriver or something, but you'd name it the fixer. That's clever. I like that. Yeah. Yeah, like a big hot tea, please. Big hot tea. Any booze in it? What? Any booze? No. All right. Big hot tea, like a bowl.
00:07:52
Speaker
I want a lot of tea. I don't want a mug of tea. He's a big man. The mug's not gonna do it. I don't really feel it that often. I got one of those big friends giant mugs.
00:08:16
Speaker
You know that there's absolutely nothing suspicious about setting papers on a table. I was going to say here's

Reynard's Father's Plots and Meeting Plans

00:08:22
Speaker
some incriminating evidence against my father. Oh Yeah, okay. I didn't want to say that in front of him. Yeah, no
00:08:31
Speaker
That's great! Yeah, so here's one more thing we can add to the pile of bad things. The pile of bad things? Just present against my father. I think it's the starting point of the pile. I think that's what we've got so far. Plus that he wants you dead. Yeah, I guess so. Wanted me to kill you. I talked to further. And she said we should talk to Elvinor's son, Eldrin.
00:08:58
Speaker
Possibly because he would be an alternative for succession to your dad. And possibly because he might be in on it. And he hangs out at the Ebony Vale, which is apparently like a Fearland owned bar. I've been there. Still other than the tab. Which I don't know, like... You probably don't pay if it's Fearland.
00:09:25
Speaker
We should probably get him to meet us somewhere else, though. Something. Yeah, no, yeah, for sure. Especially if right now it's going to be there. Five sure. Yeah. I could come as Snazz. Haven't seen him in a while. I want to be angry about that. Snazz. The jackal. Oh, you know. Why are you looking at me like I'm supposed to remember the ridiculous names of every disguise you ever had? It's pretty specific to just me.
00:09:55
Speaker
I'm glad that's what I meant. That's who you was in my sentence. You remember. You know the voice. I remember you were a knoll. Yeah. I did not remember its name. Snazz. Milo taking in the casually looking about the room covertly, making sure that nobody's overly interested in what's going on at our table. Give me a perception check.
00:10:18
Speaker
Hey importantly, Verla's still not cool with us. Which of her heiress. She did. That's because I lost. No one else was inquired about to be fair. That's because I. Everyone else lied to her. Yeah, I also lied to her. I just did it successfully. I'm so close to doing it successful. The Milo's experience in bars and stuff.
00:10:37
Speaker
What do I have to do to get you to hand me those? Oh, gosh. Oh, no. Oh, no. Yeah. Now he doesn't know. That's gone. And those cancel. And so all that's left is... Yeah, it's a wash, but it is there. I was just looking around the room.
00:10:58
Speaker
and loses his sight. I know, he's blind. I swear, if you destroy the soaring spirits with that smoke coming out of your head. You can't do that to the people. You don't spot anybody hanging about. And a second ago, no one was hanging about. In terms of the despair, he failed, so you don't... That's what I'm saying. There's nothing cool in the bathroom.
00:11:27
Speaker
First roll of the game. First roll of the session. No, you rolled against your mom. Not an episode. Maybe that's the word I'm looking for. OK. We're going to do a third person cutaway. Oh, no. So as you all are seated in the soaring spirit. Meanwhile. While in Milo's head. In Lower Memphis, you all see the shop.
00:11:50
Speaker
that the gnome owned the gnome fence that you all laid low in after Milhatch and the ram attacked. The antique shop? Oh, the antique shop. No, no, no, not with the ghosts. OK. This like all you did was lay low because he was a fence that Milo knew the shop. Oh, yeah. I swear if the ram burst out of this. And this gnome is counting some coins in the counter and he hears the door open. And yeah, we're closing up.
00:12:18
Speaker
and a metal hand grabs around the gnome's head and smashes it down in the counter and the ram pulls him up and looks at them and is like, where's the elf that brought me back? He doesn't really look because his head is just a set of ragged holes at this point. Danger, more danger. How rude, Eric. How unbelievably rude. How's our road dice? Uncalled for.
00:12:47
Speaker
Check that one off your list. I mean, it's Renard's fault, don't look at me. I seem to remember being coerced into doing that magic. Maybe even forced to do that magic. Also haven't we killed him since then?
00:13:07
Speaker
I swear we fought him again since then. And his followers pulled him away. How did he get followers? He's just some big guy who can just be biased on a semi-regular basis. The ram's soul no longer resides in the ram's body. I know. The ram abides.
00:13:29
Speaker
It's he's got a Damon But we have killed him with several more disfiguring crits. Oh, yeah since then right torn up Anyway, you don't spot anybody hanging about watching Because nobody was I hate it What were y'all talking about? I don't know We had mentioned the ebony veil already I had mentioned that
00:13:55
Speaker
She does not like, Verla does not like us anymore. I'm standing by it. Because she never likes Raynard and Milo also got caught lying to her. I think that the information dumping is done. Right. Look, I'm probably best used on the talk to the sun side of things. Happy to hear suggestions from anyone on where we meet him, if not where he frequents and how we get him elsewhere.
00:14:27
Speaker
catch him when he leaves, perhaps? Certainly. Would we have a decent idea of where he likely lives, given his station? Do you... Like... Oh, Eldurin? Yeah. And where is Ebony Vale? I didn't even... Did you say that one? It can't be lower. It's near Elvinor's house. Yeah, it's in the upper parts of the... What if... So right now, so far as everyone knows, Raynard is a part of his father's plot. So what if...
00:14:58
Speaker
Reynard went there to arrange the meeting, because him meeting with Eldrin, he would be able to explain it as either, if Eldrin's part of this, then it would be fine entirely, or if not, he could say, I was thinking of Eldrin as like, my way to get at Elvinor or something like that. It would be explainable.
00:15:26
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's actually a great idea. And they set that up through my father. I think you could just go to the bar and talk to him and just need to convince him to meet us up somewhere else. That's fine. And also to try and find out whether or not he's in on your dad's schemes. Get nice and drunk. Sure.
00:15:48
Speaker
That seemed a lot more predatory than I wanted to. But you probably don't get drunk. You know. Jorlin returns with your drinks. Puts a bowl on a small plate in front of Hob. Full of tea. Wine in a glass. Won't it be really hot? Chyron sunrise. Because it's got no handle. And the Highwall Skart Warmer, which is actually a warm ale. So. That sounds awful. You sound awful. Brood! Yeah, I agree. We doing food.
00:16:18
Speaker
Tonight? Yeah. All right. What can I get you? Sounds like we just ate. Do you have any seafood? You monster. You absolute monster. I've been getting that a lot. And no, we don't, unfortunately. That just wasn't big in the region that I was from. Plus there's a million seafood places in Shawn because you're right on the river. Just ask. Yeah, but you get the people in Highwall don't want
00:16:45
Speaker
They don't feel welcome going out into the other parts of Charne a lot of times, so wanting to have something here, I get it. And Grumley's not the best when it comes to seafood. You try to be all things, and you're just not the best at anything. Yeah, I know. There's a market that needs to be served. Somebody who's good at seafood can do that.
00:17:03
Speaker
Yeah. Ninja's become the Galanda Cheesecake Factory. Sorry, Raynard. We don't have any seafood. Oh, man. Cheesecake Factory is definitely house Galanda in it. It's not McDonald's. It's Cheesecake Factory. I'll take any mushrooms. What is your deal?
00:17:24
Speaker
That led me wrong, yeah. My man likes mushrooms. I mean, I have a, like, we do a burger here and you can replace the patty with a large mushroom if you want. That sounds like I'll need to borrow your gloves. You can, you can touch. The bun is not the patty. I just, I caught on. I got it now. You thought it was a burger patty with two mushrooms.
00:18:01
Speaker
I'm really hungry. I'll take it. Okay. However it comes. That is what it is now, right? It's definitely a hamburger steak sandwiched between two mushrooms. Yep.
00:18:14
Speaker
Eris orders some kind of sandwich. Okay. Do you have a special, like, notice? If you do, I'll have whatever that is. Randy says, Eric, make up Milo's order. We have a rotating special menu right now. It's the Kyron comfort stew. It's just a, yeah. Sounds wonderful. Great. Yeah, I'll take a chicken and some cheesy rice, please. Thank you.
00:18:41
Speaker
I was going to get a cabbage, but you wouldn't call me out on it. Cheesy rice is new. It's delicious. I would put cheesy rice. Sure. And he takes off down the stairs. It's basically a chicken casserole. You ordered a deconstructed chicken casserole. As you all watch Jordan walk away, you see another figure get up from a nearby table and walk towards you and wave, and you all recognize as Cephas Coldor.

Cephas Coldor's Warning on Boromar

00:19:06
Speaker
Oh. I did not know this one. I was looking into dungdud. We were going to meet. Right in the middle of this thing. This is the worst timing. Hey, gang. Hi. Hi. Wanted to... Tables full. Sorry. Wanted to give you all a quick update and was just looking for a appropriate moment to come over. I know we have a meeting.
00:19:33
Speaker
that I haven't scheduled yet. I'm still working on that stuff, but some other issues have come up that I wanted to make you all aware of. Are you keeping tabs on me? What do you mean? No one knows I live here. Detective wanted to talk to you, so tracked you down. I know, just saying, you could have called. Yeah, but, wanted to talk to you face to face and figure out where you were. Could have called and said, let's meet somewhere.
00:20:01
Speaker
Eris, I'm with you, but let's hear about it. Fine. All right. Here's the thing. Formar is going to be making a play on Lower Memphis. We've gotten intel from inside that they're tired of not having pull over that district and they're looking to clear out anyone that... Man, that's a shame. Everything's really quiet down there. Nothing at all interesting is happening. So, yeah. Two points regarding what I think you all would be most concerned with. Sabia,
00:20:29
Speaker
It's not a problem. She's a member of the city council. So it would be dumb for the claim to go after her and her business. So.
00:20:37
Speaker
Isn't her business attached to the clan? She operates in that district, but no, it wasn't directly attached to Boromar. I don't think so. I thought the... Is that not Clan Turf already? Well, she pays. She has to... Yeah. Sorry. The conversation sounded like they were moving into Lower Memphis, and I had it in my head. That was already... The dude that was collecting in Lower Memphis...
00:21:00
Speaker
doing that anymore. Sure. Bormar are just very weird about letting other people do crime on their turf. They're like, it's fine. We don't want to get our hands in that. But basically, your buddy Ulfin is the biggest target in his back. They knew that was your hangout. They know that he's a friend. And this seems like a weird one of your asks. You're supposed to take care of Ulfin. How's Galando?
00:21:22
Speaker
re-examined their market research for Lower Memphis and realized that it wouldn't be profitable to open up a Golden Dragon. They could have just asked us that. Okay, sorry. I was not ready for this conversation. You don't understand how much time I spend preparing to have conversations. I'm not ready for this conversation, but it seemed pressing because it seems like movement is going to happen in the next handful of days. I'm not saying that you all should go have a turf war over Lower Memphis.
00:21:46
Speaker
with the Boromar clan. Oh, it really sounds like that's what you're saying, okay. So what are you saying? You all could certainly try to go toe to toe. I'm just saying you might want to get your people out of there that you are concerned might be targets of the clan is what I'm trying to get at. Giving you a heads up. Is it anyone else besides Orphan?
00:22:06
Speaker
I don't know alliances you all have made in terms of people down there but any known associates people that you used to run with when you worked for the clan that would have more allegiance to you than the clan itself but how wide does that do you know how wide does that extend on realize that we're not right popular but there's like just a lot of people down there that we is this like
00:22:35
Speaker
Everybody who ever smiled at them in the street. We want dead. Oh nothing The four of us on our closest six or seven associates they understand that Any affection that people may have had for you was also tied to the Klan So it's only people that you're really close with really that's depressing
00:22:53
Speaker
This is just how they view things. Right. Let me take this one. They believe that any good will we got was because of the clan when we know it was actually wooshly in spite of it. Yeah. Oh, okay. If you'd say hello to Cold War, continue. Basically, any people that are really close with you that you would be concerned about, that the clan would know are very close with you, would be the primary concern. We should probably warn Luca Ciara.
00:23:22
Speaker
My biggest concern right now is does the clan know about Ace? Do we have to run and tell Ace immediately to save him? I was joking. Okay. Phillip's normally got a pretty good barometer when I'm full of crap and that one's just like snuck past the hole. Yeah, and I just went right out. I was like, why would that be more urgent?
00:23:46
Speaker
But yeah, I just wanted to give you all a heads up since I got word that this was going down. So I'll be in touch regarding all the other stuff, but yeah. Appreciate it. All right. Enjoy your drinks. Full door turns to walk away. Seafood. What?
00:24:07
Speaker
Listen, you walked in the middle of six other things, so I just wasn't sure if you were talking to me. Oh, no. They don't serve seafood. I'm not sure who she's talking to. She just said seafood. I'm gonna go. I got some other stuff going on, but I'll call next time. Oh well. Yes.
00:24:24
Speaker
I'm so glad that he wasn't about to push us towards some sort of decision because we don't know what's going on with Milo. That's awful. But I thought he was like, we were here about to try and deal with this thing with Reynard's dad. And I thought he was gonna be like, all right, it's time to go. It feels like a thing that happens occasionally. It does. Yeah. All right. So now we suddenly have to decide who we think is in danger of retaliation. Yeah, I got nine names.
00:24:54
Speaker
Did you jump up pretty quick? Wow, that's a lot. Did he? He didn't rule anybody out.

Assessing Threats and Allies

00:25:00
Speaker
Cath, Sauna, Sigil, they're all... Sigil doesn't live in Lormentus anymore. Strictly speaking, neither do Cath and Sauna. We just need to warn Cath off of being there. Cath is there all the time. Sauna is there all the time. Sauna and Ace. Luca's theater is down in that area, but Luca doesn't live there. Right.
00:25:19
Speaker
That was really just Eris trying to put out there that she knows Lucasiara. So I don't know that our brief connection to Lucasiara is actually close enough to put her in danger. It's just Eris trying to name drop. Yeah. So the staff at the fore, at the foresales. Staff at the foresales. They don't know about Highwall. Do you think his ship is still functional? Or could we just attach it? Is the whole ship still there?
00:25:46
Speaker
Isn't his ship just strapped to a tower? Yeah. And I didn't think it was the whole ship. I thought there was some modifications that happened. He just ain't okay. I didn't realize it. But it's not an airship, right? Yeah. So you could unstrap it. Then you would not have a ship anymore. So was it just the four sales?
00:26:03
Speaker
I think so. What was just living in an attic, so. If Savia and the crew there are clear. Right. We've already got Milo's mom. You got your mom out, right? But she seems to think she's fine. She's gone for a couple of days. OK, but you should probably get in touch with her and let her know this. Right, we haven't date things are happening now. So maybe stay a little longer, or if she comes back, don't go there.
00:26:32
Speaker
I'm gonna feel like a real ding-dong if we forget someone important. Or at all. Yeah. I don't think you're forgetting anyone. I'm not over here going, hahaha, they haven't said anybody yet. Yeah, and then you consult the wiki and you go up to somebody that all of us somehow forgot about. They're so integral, we don't think of them as an other person. Yeah, if it's just for sales, then... I think that's it. We can get a message to them easy. Yeah, yeah.
00:27:00
Speaker
Jorlin comes up with food and starts putting the plates down. Alright. GG rice is delicious. I'm glad you like it. Anything else I can get you all? I don't think so. Right. I'm good. We'll all be up to check on y'all in a bit. So, Reynard's gonna go talk to Eldran. You thought you could help with that. Yes, I'd like to be there for that.
00:27:31
Speaker
I'll be able to meet my last intimate situation as well. This one's not that. This one's not that. This one's not that. Wait, what? We don't know. No, what? Wait. What? Do you remember the woman that we thought was trying to kill Raynard? Yeah. Turns out she's not trying to kill him yet. She wants to start a relationship with him and then inevitably kill him. Is that bear?
00:27:56
Speaker
something to do just don't tell verla you don't think she would be like she's been having a really hard time it might if i told her that someone is inevitably going to kill you it might cheer up romantically involved with someone who's going to kill you who's not verla
00:28:16
Speaker
That's true. It might depress her that the person who's going to kill you is not Verla. You know what, it's my fault for bringing up the murders. And you think this person is going to kill you, it sounds like. Why would you associate? He knows himself. No, no. I made it self-knowledge. You checked her out. She gave me a massage. Really? This is a very strange conversation. I was simply making a joke that the more you get to know Raynard, the more you'd like to throttle him. I agree. And then sometimes not. It's okay, bud.
00:28:47
Speaker
And then the more you get to know him, it recovers, and then you get to know him better and it goes back. It's your real roller coaster, pal. In a good way. All right. Okay, we did it. With all due respect. No offense. Your quads are looking great. He just does something like that at the end and Raynard's happy. Oh, thank you. Maybe I should get them remeasured at the armory. You could do that. The blacksmith? The smith? The armory? Where did I go? Sure.
00:29:16
Speaker
always work that went okay then yes I got the files and I got new I'm getting new armor and maybe made a friend along the way does he know you stole his files yes
00:29:32
Speaker
I didn't steal them. I took them. But he told me where they were. And it was a wink, wink, nudge, nudge. No, he's not a fan of my father. He's not happy with your father. I guess happier with me now that I've said I'll do something. I'll try to... That I'm not necessarily with my father.
00:30:01
Speaker
He's not happy about potentially losing quite a lot of business. Oh yes, that's what's in the files. My father has commissioned him for a lot of work, but is now going to go to someone else. And a lot of work is to kill Lady Elvinor? I would imagine it has something to it, protecting the people who he thought might kill her, but then chose me. Hooray.
00:30:31
Speaker
So, when it was several people, they needed armor. And then he was like, hey, Reynard, go handle this yourself. I think we've already had this conversation about how he's trying to get him killed, but... Or at least in prison.
00:30:46
Speaker
Also, none of this was said by the blacksmith. We're going over his recollection. The blacksmith told me specifically. It's in the files. It's making it clear for the listeners. We will let him back himself into every quarter he would like to. Milo will just say, yeah, that's what he said. All right, so we need a meeting with the sun. And we need to get everybody from the force sails out. I wonder if I could make the force sails flow.
00:31:17
Speaker
Like they do every night And it's his ship and he's gonna be sad it's gonna be a big deal Are they gonna destroy it was that I don't know they might they might it seems entirely plausible they go and burn it down
00:31:31
Speaker
Or detach it and it falls off the tower and that would probably kill lots of people on the way down. That would be more than they want to do. They're angry, but they're not fully losing their sort of... Yeah, I don't think so. They're not maniacal. We haven't seen the level of angry yet, but I don't know. I don't think they'll drop a boat angry.
00:31:51
Speaker
why when I want to do something cool do we have to question whether it's reasonable and practical hey buddy friend who are you I said I would be happy to try to assist with that if you want to make the boat float go for it I'm just saying let's start with tell them not to come to work for a few days yeah because that one's guaranteed to keep them off of it
00:32:13
Speaker
If you want to tell them don't come to work for a few days because I'm going to try to get this bad boy to float, be my guest. Don't all boats float anyway? In air versus water. Fly. All right. All boats float. The medium changes. Okay. Yes, all right. This one floats in oil. This one floats in corkscrew. We've all seen the cylinders. And right now it's suspended. Yes. And if it were to fall, it would not be good.
00:32:43
Speaker
I didn't even know that was a boat. But what I'm saying is three years. We just had a conversation about how there's no seafood restaurant here. And then we're told that our friend who owns a seafood restaurant needs to not be where he currently is. Our friendly ex pirate who has it. I love where your head's at. I'm saying go for it. Okay.
00:33:14
Speaker
as time allows right yeah yeah you do that oh you want to bring the seafood here on the boat yes yes that's why i would like to put out this is a genuine realization so what is happening i like it
00:33:37
Speaker
What are you going to say to Elderin? What are you going to say to Elderin so that he'll meet with you somewhere? That's the son, Eltonor's son. I'm supposed to go to the bar and see if he's there. And then we want to try and arrange a meeting when he's not at the bar since we should assume that everyone at the bar is a spy. Everyone at the bar is a spy and we need to be able to suss out
00:34:00
Speaker
if he's already on your father's side. Some of those spies will want to kill us and some of those spies might want to help us and we just can't tell which is which right now. And you specifically? I don't think he's going to want to come here. Right. What's wrong with here? Nothing's wrong with here. I don't want him to come here because you live above here. No, I don't want him. Not here. That was at the for sales. I live down the street.
00:34:24
Speaker
Fine, but no I don't want him here, but he should want to come here. It's awesome
00:34:34
Speaker
I don't know how much time I have to keep doing this today. Us not bringing him here is no reflection on the quality of the place. I understand. It isn't like him here? I didn't mean here, here. I meant Hywall here. No, you should absolutely not bring him to Hywall. You're in. You don't want that plate, huh? Yes, thank you. Jeez, your eyes really was great. Great. I'll let Grimly know. Wonderful stew. Thank you. Yes. Here's my bowl. Are we doing dessert tonight?
00:35:03
Speaker
I think I'm good. Thank you. Yeah, apparently I'll have something to do. Always time for dessert. I guess I'll pass as well. All right. I was going to get some cream cheesy rice, but I guess... I was going to see if they had a mushroom dessert. Hey, rice desserts are great. I don't know what you guys are both bugging about. The combination you described did not appeal. You're right. You're right.
00:35:30
Speaker
I'm fine. Thank you. All right. I guess it could be like a Rice Krispie tree. It could be like puffed rice with cream cheese. That could be good. Coffee or anything else? To-go. Okay. All right. To-go. Yes. To-go sounds good. Yeah. You're to-go bowls. Can we do a wine to-go? Can't do that.
00:35:50
Speaker
In this mythical land of made-upness, we can't do a wine to go. There's a couple cities, a couple cities are famous for it. Old Orleans. Cause it's the best. Actually my hometown. That's right. Cause you'll walk about. Focus up team. I take it thick. Thick. Okay. The coffee. Yeah.
00:36:18
Speaker
Hey, you want yours? Thick? I didn't know consistency was how you described coffee. A bit of cream in mine, please. Just black. I'll take mine pensive, thank you. Now, how are you going to get the guy to meet you somewhere else? I've just asked, I guess. Yeah, great. Okay, fine. Where? We should decide. What about that bird? The bird, yeah. That robotic chicken place. Fine. We could just get him really drunk and then you could carry him.
00:36:49
Speaker
Let's not kidnap him. We still have to get him somewhere to get him drunk. We're not going into the Ebony Vale. Oh. They might kill you on sight. I thought Raynard was going to the MP. Why would they kill me? Right now everyone thinks he's in on it. That's right. Because we don't know. But we don't know where they stand. We actually haven't played any cards yet. No one knows what we're doing yet. Well, Raynard's taking the lead, so we'll see.
00:37:14
Speaker
Sometimes you forget what you're not supposed to say. All the time. I'm sorry, I made that mistake that I thought we were avoiding the Ebony of Yale because we don't know who we can trust in there and Rainard is a known factor. But I think that right now
00:37:28
Speaker
The theory is the people who would support Elvinor also don't know about the planned coup, because that's the thing we're going to tell her about. So the people who know about it think Reynard's in on it. And people who don't know about it, don't know about it. Sure. Wonderful. So I can win, befriend him. So if you're Evanie Vale, I'm probably not, which means you need to get him out. Yes. To meet you somewhere else. You can tell him to come to the bird. You know this great place with these automata.
00:37:57
Speaker
Your boy is I don't know if it's automata or automata, so I decided if I really drama talk phenomena We all three saying it different There's a clean one. He is not gonna want to come let's do it Yeah, let's just go do it
00:38:18
Speaker
That sounds like a good plan to me. Eris is going to the foresales. So I will not be at the Ebony Vale with you. I will be at the consistent bird and you've got to get him there. And shall we go to the foresales and warn our friends? Right. First, I want to stop at the cauldron and get some stuff. It's fine. Very well. I got it. He's got this. I'm great at talking. So Eris goes to the cauldron and piles a ridiculous amount of tools onto Tasha.
00:38:45
Speaker
As you're walking to Cauldron, Durgoth is walking with two bags of dirt down the road. Are you Durgoth? Yes. Grandfather, you've lived here a while, I think. Yeah, I mean, I was... I came to Sharn for protection and was sent here when I arrived. Yeah. In this neighborhood...
00:39:05
Speaker
Is there like a large, unoccupied lot? I guess I'm putting a garden in it. Not that. Not a table. Too slow, sucker. Yeah, I mean, there's lots of places and certainly there's buildings that a stiff wind would clear out that quarter of a building that's still standing and cleared the lot out as well. Oh yeah, we should really fix that problem. Seems like this high up there would be stiff winds quite frequently. Yes. Okay. Thank you.
00:39:36
Speaker
Yes. And Eris continues to throw everything in the chickens and the kitchen sink. We're talking about the bird. So lost over the chicken sink. Milo would help. Help Eris load it up. You've encountered this very old hobgoblin for the first time carrying two big bags of dirt. And then Eris gets egric onto Tasha and Milo and heads to the for sales. Okay.
00:40:05
Speaker
And then you all are headed towards the Ebony Vale. We're going to walk out and head towards the Ebony Vale. And if I also see him still carrying bags, I make Raynard take two as well. Because he didn't carry two bags. Hang on, we have something to do. He grabs two bags and he does that.
00:40:22
Speaker
So yeah, Reynard, you're told to carry two big bags of dirt like three blocks down the road. Wonderful. Hi. Just what I need to go into a nice bar with nice people is dirt all over me. You're not bare-handing dirt. You're carrying a bag of dirt. You know how dirt bags get. I know a lot of dirt bags, actually. Covered in dirt. Hi, I'm dirt goth, by the way. Dirt goth? Dirt goth. Oh.
00:40:53
Speaker
Why do you need so much dirt? Oh, I'm putting in a garden community garden Oh for the this is where the statue will be
00:41:02
Speaker
Of the fixer! Oh, it's making the statue of the fixer. I hadn't heard that anyone was thinking about putting a statue of the fixer up. Oh, I definitely think it should happen. We need to go. It's okay then. This is just done so much. It's true. What a small way to honor that. That's fair. That's not a terrible idea. And here's a gold coin to go toward it.
00:41:28
Speaker
Starting a fund for a Fixer statue. Giving you a job, in fact. Hey, are you friends with the Fixer? I have heard so many things. I'm friends with the Fixer. Shh, don't run this for me. Sorry, he knows the Fixer. I do. I was just curious. I've never caught her name. Her name was the Fixer. Oh. You gotta figure this one out on your own, Val.
00:41:57
Speaker
I don't know if that's my information to tell. Fair enough. It's a comic book hero. A what hero? Like a hero from a story where they have a disguise. Oh, why do heroes need disguises? You've read them. The stories. Traditionally, heroes might disguise themselves because an evil person might put their loved ones in danger. No way to control or manipulate them.
00:42:25
Speaker
And their loved ones wouldn't be capable of protecting themselves. Yes. Yeah, man. Sometimes they're not. Interesting. Some people are it. Some people are babies, dog. I don't know what to tell you. Some people are babies. And those babies, they can't protect themselves against evil villain babies. The elderly. We're talking elderly. The immunocompromised. That's food safety. Hang on. I gotta go back. Thank you for your help with the dirt.
00:42:49
Speaker
I absolutely love that you said some people are babies, because that's what taught me. That's what Eris has been insulting people with. Is baby? It's like a child. You're perfect. That statue needs to be big. Walk away.
00:43:10
Speaker
All right. And you all can hop on the bike and take off. I don't want to hear anybody in the discord challenge me on that. Some people are babies thing. Cause it's a fact. That's true. Some people are babies, man. I know some of them only for a limited time though. Okay. So spoken the present tense. Always.
00:43:27
Speaker
At the moment, some people are babies. Not at the appropriate rate, is what I'm hearing from you. I would argue it's absolutely the appropriate rate. Let's slow this thing down and think about what's going on. Very much depends on where we are in the world. Okay, so Milo and Harrison, head to the for sales.

Planning to Make a Ship Fly

00:43:43
Speaker
And yeah, I mean, it's dinner time. Lower Memphis is hopping and yeah, people walking into the front doors of the for sales.
00:43:51
Speaker
Eris, I'm just imagining what Tasha looks like right now loaded down with a whole bunch of Artificing tools and a golem, but Eris just parks Tasha and runs in and looks for Olven
00:44:10
Speaker
He's behind the bar. Oh, Aeris. Aeris slides up to my little bar. Hey, so was there something like really special about Lower Memphis that made you put your restaurant here?
00:44:30
Speaker
And as you're going through this sentence slowly, Sonic comes up in between the two of you. It's like, no, anything to drink or eat? Oh, no, we actually just ate and drank, but you. Okay, great. And she takes off. Get her in a rush. She is ping pong. I will go retrieve the song. Let's do a job. We've got time of the conversation. It might be that she doesn't need to go anywhere. I'll wait.
00:44:56
Speaker
No, there was just got a good deal on the lot. So if there was a different lot where your restaurant could be, that'd be just fine. I'm going to need a lot more information in context. Especially if they'll say there wasn't much competition, say there's no other place with seafood. It's true. Sharn's a pork city though. And people are asking for seafood.
00:45:19
Speaker
And suppose that it was also true that maybe in the next few days someone intended to come burn your restaurant down. Okay. You should have led with that one. I was trying to ease into it and then I realized that there wasn't actually going to be any way to ease into it. And I, yeah, I'm sorry. Who's wanting to burn my restaurant down? I mean the obvious suspect.
00:45:45
Speaker
not see what's really frustrating is actually some of us do actually worked like this whole deal to take care of the house go under thing and it actually worked and now Boromar is going to try and hurt everyone that we like so that's the problem
00:46:16
Speaker
So it might be really important for you and Ace and Sona and the staff and that cat to
00:46:31
Speaker
not be here. And I should probably double check the walls in case there's anything that would like explode if it caught fire. But would it like bother you? I'm trying to get a bit about asking for this, about this sort of thing. Would it bother you if I would just crawl around on the outside of the restaurant for a bit? Like the bottom where the hole is?
00:46:59
Speaker
What are you? What are you putting in? Okay, look, I want to see if I can make the ship fly. Turn it into an airship.
00:47:06
Speaker
Probably not really, but because Sean's weird, right? Something that could take advantage of the manifest zone the way a sky cab does. Just big. Because then you wouldn't have to lose the restaurant. And then you could possibly go different areas of the city at different times of the day. Food book! Food book! Food book! Yes, you could conduct business
00:47:35
Speaker
Had not I had not considered that that's not a terrible idea. I Maybe had found a lot where you could move the ship to a place where there's no seafood restaurants Things don't have to be mutually exclusive. I suppose I could get a smaller boat, but that's true first
00:47:54
Speaker
would be the question of whether I could even do this, because it's like a crazy insane thing that I'm thinking of doing. Eris, I trust you and you're more than welcome to give it a shot. I won't move it while anyone's in it. Yes, but also don't overlook any potential doubt you might have that it can make the full journey. I know sometimes you like to experiment and see if it'll work. I would prefer if you knew it was going to work before we
00:48:22
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I realized that if it failed, it would fall out of the sky and kill people and I don't want that to happen. I also need two tonics. I'm gonna go look at whether or not this is possible. If you can actually physically grab Sona maybe next time and hold her still long enough to explain the situation.
00:48:44
Speaker
and Ace as well and I assume if we tell Ace to do something he'll just do it but Sana we should probably explain things and we can just tell Ace what to do well probably Sana would just tell Ace what to do and then he'd do it true because she's like a 40 in the way she tells people things something about the way she stands I don't know anyway Eris starts to walk towards a window and then stops and goes out the front door you need me to carry
00:49:15
Speaker
I don't know yet. So yeah, gets on Tasha takes Tasha down around and starts crawling around. Basically, I want to investigate to find out Yeah, what the difficulty is of
00:49:34
Speaker
basically infusing the hull with the kinds of things, with the kind of magic that would allow it to catch the manifest zone's waves. Yeah. Okay, give me a mechanic check with Milo's assistance. You can have, how many, take a look. Milo, you're just gonna assist with the check. Is it mechanics or artifice?
00:50:00
Speaker
It'll be mechanics because you're investigating the logistics of it. Four boost dive from Milo's assistance. Wow. Your ranks in Arcana. That is grand. What is the difficulty of the investigative check? The difficulty of this is going to be, and this is probably daunting, so four purple. I'm gonna flip a story point to one red, three purple.
00:50:23
Speaker
I will flip a story point and then immediately take it back to just add a green because I haven't done that. This is our last episode of the session. Okay. This is a fun check. This is a gigantic fistful of dice. I'm rolling one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 14 dice. Nice.
00:50:46
Speaker
I love this system. Both hands. Just so disappointing. No, I think I've succeeded, but okay. So that's gone. Yeah, I've definitely succeeded. I just have in fact rolled a despair. I've succeeded quite handily. I've got six, six, seven success and three, four advantage, but I have rolled a despair.
00:51:11
Speaker
Okay. So yeah, Eris examining and this is not the part where I thought the despair would be the really scary thing. I thought it would come later. Yeah. You with Milo's assistance, knowing manifest zone and like the arcane requirements of doing such a thing, you all kind of work out together. There are various parts to where you could attach a, basically you could take.
00:51:33
Speaker
some plate stone, something, attach it to the bottom of the ship and describe it with runes that would draw off of the same plane, the manifesto, to cause even more buoyancy in the ship, where you would need some manner of propulsion, because you're just making it be able to float really well, but then... We have the box. You have the box.
00:51:56
Speaker
Yes. What's in the box? Elementals. Yep. For advantage. Got a box of critters. I would love to bank those towards the check to actually try and pull this off.
00:52:13
Speaker
Okay. With the success, can I know what the difficulty of the Artificing Check will be when it comes? So the difficulty of the Artificing Check just on its base, you're trying to make an actual ship fly. Yeah, yeah. What Aeris's real goal is, fly to Highwall. Yeah. And land. Yeah. It would be great if Aeris succeeded in such a way that he's got a Peter Pan ship. Yeah.
00:52:41
Speaker
all Aeris is really trying to do is can I move this ship from one place to another? Yes. The base difficulty of attempting to do this is going to be daunting as well. Sure. But with an upgrade built in, just given the complexity. How many upgrades built in? One upgrade. So one red, three purple. So for a start, it would be one red, three purple. Yes. Is there a difficulty above daunting? Does Genesis go higher than that or is four? Permittable is five. Okay. Yeah. I might be doing those backwards.
00:53:08
Speaker
But yeah, you can never go beyond five. There's impossible where it's five die and you have to flip a story point. To even try. I consider that generous of you. But the despair. Yeah, the despair. You know that in order to pull off this method of doing it,
00:53:31
Speaker
there is a particular material that the discs that you put under it have to be made of that's incredibly rare. And so you're going to have to try to find somebody to get this component that you need. Okay. I know where I'm going for that. Oh crap. Yeah, that'll be more fun narratively. I had two names in mine, one of them one more issue.
00:53:58
Speaker
Eris Okay, okay as we're going I don't know going along with mila. She's using mila to just talk through The things like just talk it out And she's drawing on the hull with in chalk and places like she's diagramming the whole thing out as she goes we need Do you can be done do you have a name for the material or
00:54:20
Speaker
Unobtanium. Unobtanium. There's a weird metal that's like in ancient sources called or oriculum or something like that. Oracalcum. Oracalcum. Oracalcum. Sure. Sure. This is basically ancient unobtanium. We need some oracalcum. Oracalcum. Is that exceedingly rare? Yeah. Where would we find oracalcum?
00:54:42
Speaker
I had two thoughts. One was that really, remember that really cool tiefling artificer we met? Yes. Who thought Tasha was really awesome? Yes, I do recall, I don't recall the name, but yes. But I think probably the easiest place would be I could go talk to Harbin. To who? Harbin. To Harbin? Yeah.
00:55:09
Speaker
Are you sure you want to do that? No, but I do want to do this. Yes, and I'm actually quite intrigued by this and I actually want to help you do this. Then I think Harbin would be the place where we could get that most likely. Yeah, that's probably correct.
