Viktor Gyökeres has been scoring for fun for both Sporting and Sweden this past calendar year prompting many rumors of his future, including several Serie A clubs.

The Italian Football Podcast patron Missak sends in a question wondering what Nima Tavallaey and Carlo Garganese think of the Swedish star as well as how his name is pronounced properly.

Welcome to the Italian football podcast.

Yekkiresh: Pronunciation and Serie A Potential

00:00:05
Speaker
Let's start with the very first question, which has been sent in from Nisa Kulikian, who says, as a Swede Nima, what's your opinion on Jukkeresh? Firstly, what's the correct pronunciation? Secondly, do you think he will do well in Seria?

American Acquisition of Verona

00:00:18
Speaker
What Swedish striker is he similar to from the past? Also, um one more, American company owning a club in Italy with Verona's acquisition. So the question now becomes, are the Americans coming to save us?

Comparison of Yekkiresh to Haaland

00:00:29
Speaker
um The first, well, the first um question Yekkiresh I mean it's a Hungarian name first of all so you pronounce it Yekkiresh and secondly I think what we see from him is I see he's a striker in the mould of Ailinghoa Land he's a very direct striker um and he's I think he would do well in Serie A because I think he's very clinical I think those kinds of strikers are very he's a big strong
00:01:00
Speaker
very prima punta kind of you know colossus in the number nine ah he's good at free kicks got a good shot on him and he's very direct on goal i think he would do well in all leagues i think players like that tend to do well everywhere no matter where they are um i wouldn't i don't think he's similar to any swedish striker in the past because um he's not he's not as technical as latin is or was um and and I say Ailing Horland is actually the one I'd say he's the most similar to, is is my opinion.

Yekkiresh's Premier League Aspirations

00:01:35
Speaker
But I don't think he will end up in the Serie A, even if they could afford it. I think he's the kind of guy who absolutely wants a Premier League move. He has history in England with Coventry. I'm not too sure he did too well there. No, he did brilliant at Coventry oh you did the champion in the Championship. Yeah, it was a Brighton that he struck. That's the one.
00:01:52
Speaker
but' the one Um, yeah, you're right. Um, and so I think there is a, you know, unfinished business. Erling Horland is a man city. I think he would, um, I think Manchester United is where he wants to go. I'm sorry, not Manchester United. I think the premier league is where he wants to go. I think he wants to go somewhere where he can win the premier league and and potentially the the champions league and so on. Yeah. Agreed. Yeah. He's outpriced of Serie A now.

Sickty's Impact on Verona

00:02:15
Speaker
yeah he It's not even a debate now. Yeah. As for the Verona acquisition, um,
00:02:20
Speaker
Well, you know, I think Sickty's done a fantastic job, isn't he? I mean, it's unbelievable. what He's done with very, very little. Um, they, from what I understand, they have bought the club now, or are they just about to buy the club?

Verona's New Stadium Plans

00:02:36
Speaker
um and they will want to continue with the new stadium project that we have when we had uh former Hellas Verona and West Germany FIFA 1990 World Cup champion Thomas Bertal told us about that he was involved in that project before Covid when we interviewed in one of the first interviews we did when he told us about that stadium project in Verona which we he was one of the one of the um people involved in. um So I think that's going to happen. And that's good. We need more new stadiums. And if they can somehow improve um Verona's you know revenues, of they can um you know get Verona a new stadium and and try to build something sustainable and fresh and new. That's great. And
00:03:25
Speaker
you know ah more American investment in in the setting up. It's interesting for sure. And it's good because I guess the they all look at it and say that they they they feel that they can do something about it. um and and And not just you know when you have people investing in a league, it's because they probably see some some return on investment and and hopefully

Hellas Verona's Stadium Challenges

00:03:48
Speaker
they can do that. So yeah, good luck to them.
00:03:51
Speaker
As long as if if there ever was a was a club in in Italy that needed a new stadium, it sure as hell is Hellas Verona. Bentegori is absolutely atrocious.
