out to him. In this last episode, David shares some expert advice and also shares some insights on personal growth in dentistry.
00:00:53
Speaker
David, I would love if you would share some ex expert advice with myself, with our listeners. It can be advice pretty much in anything, but any advice that you would like to share with us today. I'm going to share something I share a lot. So if you know me, you've heard this before, but you are always your own best investment. Always. You can take that investment with you no matter where you go, no matter what you do in life. So there's a lot of truth to, we become the five people we spend the most time with. So take stock in the people that are in your life, both professionally and personally.
00:01:32
Speaker
When you know in your heart that those people, whether they're related to you or not, aren't the best for you, limit your time when you see people who can be really helpful you helpful to you. Like, don't be bashful. Ask. I really, truly believe good people enjoy helping other people. And then I would say, um maybe lastly to that end, just one step at a time. You don't have to be great. You have to be the best tomorrow. You just have to be a little better tomorrow than you are today. And if you have a strong vision and you stay focused and you just work at it a little bit every single day, you're going to wake up in very short order and think like, how in the heck did all these cool things happen to me?
00:02:16
Speaker
And it's going to be those little tiny steps you took every single day. And it's going to be those people who helped support you when maybe you were going to have a hard time doing it on your own, which is all of us. Great advice. David, if our listeners would like to learn more about Ignite DDS and how Ignite can support them in their career in dentistry, how can they learn more? What should they be looking for? How can Ignite help?

Ignite DDS's Mission and Support Programs

00:03:27
Speaker
If you could sum up what Ignite DDS is, because I know we often get that question, I would love if you would share with us what Ignite DDS is so that way our listeners, in case they don't know what it is and how we can help, ah can kind of figure that out.
00:03:41
Speaker
Yeah, i'm going to I'm going to swing back to that concept earlier is we help young dentists build their self-determined future. If you feel like that is a startup, if you feel like that's an acquisition, if you feel like you're going to go to work for somebody your whole life, but you want to figure out the most successful way to do it, they each have a recipe. We very thankfully have those recipes with a lot of bumps and bruises along the way to get to those recipes, but we're happy to help you get there. And we've got several programs to make it really easy for you.
00:04:14
Speaker
It's a really great core team. David is a a phenomenal leader. He helps us all, but he truly helps everyone who reaches out to him.

Community Support in Dentistry

00:04:23
Speaker
I've seen him answer DMs and ah you know have conversations with people who reach out looking for help. And I really hope that others in the dental community take a page out of Dr. David Rice's book as well, and to just find a way on how they can help others as well too. because the community of dentistry, though it can feel very big, is very, very small. And I hope that those that are in the profession do feel that they are supported in some way. And if you don't, um you know, I think that we're here to help and hopefully we can help find that support that you're looking for in in the field.
00:04:57
Speaker
Yeah, I totally agree. And thank you, Tonya. I mean, like all the things you're doing right now, I can't tell you, I don't think I've been in a city in the last eight months where somebody hasn't asked me about you. So you're doing amazing things in in your own right. You're an incredible teammate on our team. I'm i'm very grateful um to call you friend. and and And you're right. We have an amazing team of people who who really do want better for our profession and all the people that are involved. It's it's um it's a dream come true for me. Well, thank you for sharing that. And thank you for allowing me to be part of the team and letting me do this. And this is this has been really fun doing dental fuel and kind of working on other projects with our our amazing team. But David, any last thoughts for us today?

Encouragement and Seeking Help

00:05:40
Speaker
um God, if there's only last one, is you're not alone. but and It's easy to feel like you're on an island out there. I felt like I was on an island as a young dentist very, very often. I felt overwhelmed. I wondered if I chose the right career. I wonder what the heck I was going to do with my life because it didn't feel like it was moving in the right direction. but you're not alone. So find great people, reach out, ask for help, and and you'll get it. and And six months later, you're going to wake up a totally different person and and know that you've chosen well. David, this conversation has been wonderful. Thank you so much for your time today. Thank you.
00:06:17
